The Obama administration could be weakening a
successful joint federal and local program aimed at keeping
illegal immigrants off our streets. "287 G" gives local police
the training and authority to enforce federal immigration law.
Supporters of the program believe the administration wants to
limit the program to criminal illegal immigrants already in
custody -- limiting the investigative authority of police.
