RASMUSSEN REPORTS

34% Say U.S. Unemployment Rate Will Be Higher A Year From Now

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

Thirty-four percent (34%) of Americans expect the unemployment rate in the United States to be higher a year from today. That marks a five-point increase from December.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 29% believe the unemployment rate will be lower in a year’ s time, unchanged form the previous survey. Another 29% think the level of joblessness will be about the same, a nine-point drop from December.
Fifty-three percent (53%) of Americans who are working or looking for a job say the job market is worse now than it was a year ago. Only 15% say it’s better now, while 29% describe it as about the same. The national unemployment rate has held steady at 9.7 percent for the past two months, down slightly from 10 percent at the close of last year.
But then views of the country's short- and long-term economic future are gloomier these days than they have been at any time since President Obama took office in January of last year.
(Want a free daily e-mail update? If it's in the news, it's in our polls). Rasmussen Reports updates are also available on Twitter.
Seventy-nine percent (79%) of all adults say they know someone who is out of work and looking for a job. Just 16% don’t know someone like that.
Thirty-seven percent (37%) also say they know someone who out of frustration with the difficult job market has give up looking for work. Fifty percent (50%) say they don’t know someone like that, but another 13% aren’t sure.
Women are much more likely than men to say the job market is worse now than it was a year ago.
Adults ages 18 to 49 are more likely than their elders to expect a higher unemployment rate in a year’s time.
The plurality (42%) of government workers expect the unemployment rate to be lower a year from now, compared to 34% of those who work in the private sector.
Government employees were much more bullish about the economy at the end of 2009 than those who work for a private company. That marked a big change from the beginning of the year when those on the public payroll were a bit more pessimistic than private sector workers.
Similarly, a plurality (45%) of Democrats say the unemployment rate will be lower a year from now, a view shared by just 22% of Republicans and 18% of adults not affiliated with either major party.
Republicans and unaffiliateds also are more likely than Democrats to know someone who is unemployed and someone who has given up their job search out of frustration.
Among those who are now working or looking for a job, 64% of Republicans and 55% of unaffiliated adults say the job market is worse than it was a year ago. Forty-one percent (41%) of Democrats agree, but another 34% of those in the president’s party say the job market is about the same.
Last November, data from Rasmussen Reports national telephone surveys showed that 15.0% of Democrats in the workforce were currently unemployed and looking for a job. Among adults not affiliated with either major party, that number was 15.6%, while just 9.9% of Republicans were in the same situation. The findings were from interviews with 15,000 American adults in October.
Americans are now evenly divided over whether it’s possible for anyone who wants to work to find a job: 45% say that’s true, while another 45% say it’s not. This marks a six-point increase in confidence from the beginning of the year but is in line with the findings from much of last year.
The Rasmussen Employment Index, which measures worker confidence, was up slightly in February, although it’s still down 17 points from two years ago. Sixteen percent (16%) say the company they work for is hiring, while 25% say their company is laying off workers. This makes February the 17th month in a row where the number of companies laying off people exceeds the number who are hiring.
Fifty-seven percent (57%) of voters say the health care reform plan now working its way through Congress will hurt the U.S. economy.
Most Americans (58%) say the current state of the economy has caused more stress in their family.

How long are we going to let a few ultra wealthy groups of people mandate how the rest of us live?
It doesn't matter if you are Anglo or non-Anglo, legal or illegal, the song remains the same. we are all losing our homes, finances and dishonoring all those who gave there lives for a so called freedom that we think we have.

All of our problems start with the federal reserve. they generate money on a spreadsheet called "the national debt", sell it back to the taxpayers "with interest"
and we "our government" spends it. as soon as it hits a bank, that bank is authorized to loan out 10x that amount "of course with interest".

if obama wanted real change, he would have used the recent bank failure's as proof that they couldn't do the job and fired them, empowered our government to print it's own money, create a system of federal banks and just like that, our debt would disappear. the fact that our government doesn't do some version of this indicates who really runs our world. I would like to say, wake up and let's do something about it but sadly, we are out of options.
we can't take America back without our governments support.

Fire the federal reserve
abolish the IRS. instead of property/income tax and all other taxes have a flat sales tax of 20% this way everyone pays for what they consume.
Stop importation of all goods from China, this would put ALL of America back to work.
Stop sending money to other countries, especially Israel. jews/banks see the connection?
Close the Mexican border.
remove all illegals and their dependents.
if one or your parents was not a US citizen when you were born in the US then you are not a citizen and will be sent home.
Send Mexico a bill for all services to "it's" citizens. medical, educational and incarceration.
Deport all offspring who were born here where one parent wasn't a citizen at the time of birth. "that should clear out our classrooms"
Deport all illegals in our prison system. take a DNA sample and inform them that if the return to this country, they will be euthanized without a trial.
Use legal citizens in prison to do the jobs that Americans don't want to do. that will keep them from going back to jail.
Make English the ONLY language.
Must show drivers license to purchase fuel and food until the crises is resolved.
