U.S. warns to avoid 3 Mexican states

Several U.S. consulates in northern Mexico are warning U.S. citizens to avoid three Mexican states where drug gangs may be looking to attack Americans.
Here is part of the warning:
The United States Consulates General in Matamoros, Nuevo Laredo, and Monterrey advise American citizens that the U.S. government has received uncorroborated information that Mexican criminal gangs may intend to attack U.S. law enforcement officers or U.S. citizens in the near future in Tamaulipas, Nuevo León and San Luis Potosi. This information is being distributed to all U.S. government employees in the three states. No other information is available. If more detailed information is developed, we will advise American citizens immediately.
No American in his or her right mind should be entering Tamaulipas right now to start with. The state, which borders Texas, is a battleground between the Zetas and the Gulf cartels, and people are yanked off buses and from vehicles to their deaths. What’s new is the warning about Nuevo Leon, home to bustling industrial Monterrey, and San Luis Potosi, a state in central Mexico that has been heating up quickly.
It was along a highway in San Luis Potosi that gunmen assaulted an armored vehicle carrying two U.S. customs and immigration agents. They killed one, Jaime Zapata, and wounded a second, Victor Avila, in the Feb. 15 attack. The U.S. government is offering a $5 million reward for info on the murder. Mexico is offering about $800,000.

The real motivation for the Justice Department's lawsuit against Arizona's new immigration statute was the only one not mentioned in the department's brief: The Obama administration has no intention of enforcing the immigration laws against the majority of illegal aliens already in the country.
