Mixed Ruling on Immigration Crackdown

A federal judge
has rejected part of a controversial city ordinance in Fremont that sought to
ban hiring illegal immigrants and renting property to them. Much of the
ordinance could still take effect next month. Judge Laurie Smith Camp of
Federal District Court said part of the ordinance that would have denied housing occupancy permits to illegal
immigrants is discriminatory. Kris W. Kobach, a lawyer who
wrote the ordinance and who is now the Kansas secretary of state, said that 75
percent of the ordinance, which was approved by voters in 2010, was upheld. That includes requiring that employers use
the federal E-Verify database to ensure that potential employees are legally
allowed to work. Mr. Kobach said the ruling also allows the city to require
anyone seeking to rent property from a landlord to apply for a $5 city permit,
and allows the city to check the prospective tenants’ citizenship status.
Mr. Kobach says the ruling simply prevents the city from revoking those
permits. The ordinance has been suspended during the legal challenge, which was
filed by the Mexican American Legal Defense (LA RAZA SUPREMACY PARTY) and Educational
Fund and the American Civil Liberties Union. Fremont is a city of 25,000 about
30 miles northwest of Omaha.

Welfare and food stamp benefits
soar $3 million higher than September payout. New statistics from the
Department of Public Social Services reveal that illegal aliens and their
families in Los Angeles County collected over $37 million in welfare and food
stamp allocations in November 2007 – up $3 million dollars from September,
announced Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich. Twenty five percent of the all welfare and
food stamps benefits is going directly to the children of illegal aliens. Illegals
collected over $20 million in welfare assistance for November 2007 and over $16
million in monthly food stamp allocations for a projected annual cost of $444
million. “This new information shows an alarming increase in the devastating
impact Illegal immigration continues to have on Los Angeles County taxpayers,”
said Antonovich. “With $220 million for public safety, $400 million for
healthcare, and $444 million in welfare allocations, the total cost for illegal
immigrants to County taxpayers far exceeds $1 billion a year – not including
the millions of dollars for education.”

around the world into our country. When the vehicles are recovered, they
are smashed-up wrecks in the desert. If not found, they have new owners south
of the border as thieves drive the cars through the desert and into Mexico as
easily as you drive your kids to soccer practice. Illegal aliens displaced American workers at a cost in excess of $133
billion dollars last year according to Harvard Professor George Borjas.
American citizens: College and high school kids cannot find a summer job in
yard care, landscape, fast food or service jobs. Why? Illegal aliens work them at a third the wage and often, under the

anchor babies. The average head of household illegal alien costs you $2,700.00

It costs $200 million to provide for emergency health care for illegal aliens
in the Border States annually. California

hospitals bankrupted and shut their doors in 2004. Texas with 1.5 million
illegal aliens paid $74 million in hospital care. Georgia ran a $63 million

into the U.S. during the war on terrorism. · 92% of voters favor “imposing
stricter immigration and border crossing polices.” · 84% of Americans support
tighter restrictions on immigration. · 77% think the government is not doing
enough “to control the border and to screen people allowed into the country”. ·
85% strongly/somewhat agree “that enforcement of immigration laws and the

United States, the more likely they are to think the government is not doing
enough to curb illegal immigration. 37% of foreign-born Hispanics believe not

· 82% of Californians believe that the projected population
growth during the next 20 years will make the state a less desirable place to
live. Over 80% of California’s growth is due to immigration.
· 50% of California voters oppose granting amnesty to
illegal immigrants, versus 34% who favor it.
35% of all people in prisons and jails are ILLEGALS FROM
MEXICO. The county of Los Angeles spends millions jail housing illegals who are
actively engaged in drug trafficking.
2,000 CALIFORNIANS have been murdered by illegals who fled
back over the border to avoid prosecution. The Narco-mex government refused to
return them.
COLORADO
· 68% of Colorado voters say overpopulation is a major problem in Colorado.
Only 2% of voters believe that the state needs to expand its population at all,
yet the state is projected to increase its population by 67%, from 4.3 million
today to 6.4 million in 25 years. 61% want the federal government to lower
immigration levels to reduce the environmental impact and development pressures
on communities across the nation.
FLORIDA
· 58% of Florida voters favor making legal immigration more difficult. 71%
favor the U.S. government spending more time and money to prevent illegal
immigration into the U.S., including more than 40% of Hispanics. · 59% of
Florida voters believe current immigration levels are too high. Almost two
thirds (63%) of voters agree that “immigration levels are out of control and we
need to reduce the number of immigrants we allow into the country”. A majority
of voters (52%) said they would be more likely to endorse a candidate who
supported immigration reduction as part of his or her campaign. 76% feel that
"Continued population growth is a threat to Florida’s resource base,
environmental health, and quality of life”.
GEORGIA
· 69% believe that the quality of life in the state will deteriorate if
current growth and population trends continue. 74% are concerned about the
level of immigration to the U.S. 79% are specifically concerned about the level
of immigration to Georgia. 61% oppose amnesty for illegal immigrants.
IOWA · 62% of Iowans feel that the U.S.
should lower its current level of immigration. 65% feel that a U.S. population
of 400 million in 2050, as projected by the U.S. Census Bureau, is too large.
KANSAS · 86% of Kansans say levels of
immigration into the U.S. are a “serious” or “very serious” problem.
MARYLAND
· 68% of Maryland voters are concerned about the current level of
immigration to the state, and 58% want the federal government to lower
immigration levels to reduce development pressures on the environment. 61%
think overpopulation in Maryland is a major problem. · Two-thirds of adults in
rural southern Maryland say the place where they live is growing too fast.
Frustration with crowded roads is mounting, and nearly two-thirds want strict
new limits on development.
MICHIGAN
· 52% of Michigan voters say legal immigration levels should be decreased,
41% say they should remain at present levels, and 4% say they should increase.
NEW
JERSEY · 82% of New Jersey residents say that illegal immigration is an
important problem facing the country. 39% say it is one of the most important
problems. TEXAS · 82% of Texans see illegal immigration as a serious problem (including 86% of Caucasians and 69% of Hispanics), and 61% say the federal government is not doing enough to stop it. VIRGINIA · 73% consider the pace of population growth to be an urgent problem, with 60% saying it threatens quality of life in the state. 70% say they are concerned about the level of immigration to Virginia, and 57% say they would be more likely to support a candidate for Congress who supported a reduction in national immigration levels.

If you don't
understand something or disagree with a concept then the best way to conceal
your ignorance or discredit the idea is to call it "racist". Dr.
Hanson did not have to go very far out on a limb to make the point that non
assimilation of Chicanos to American culture is divisive and destructive - and
that it is the new immigrant that is failing to adapt. Great book, on point and
very timely.

Classics professor Hanson is also, like
generations of his family before him, a fruit farmer in California's central
valley. He has employed immigrants, seen them flood his community during the
last 30 years of mass flight from Mexico, and endured the crime associated with
illegal immigrants. Hanson is immensely sympathetic to poor Mexicans, however,
and the most powerful chapter here outlines the harried life of the illegal
alien. But he hates to see the ordered culture in which he grew up drowned by
an alien inundation whose undeserving beneficiaries are Mexico's kleptocratic
rulers, for whom an open border is a safety valve expelling the potential for
democratic change. The four solutions to the mess that Hanson enumerates
include continuing de facto open borders but insisting on rapid acculturation;
patrolling the border effectively and reducing legal immigration; imposing
"sweeping restrictions on immigration" and ending Mexican chauvinism
in the U.S.; and allowing present policies to make California increasingly
mirror an unreformed Mexico. Hanson thinks that the U.S. "still need not
do everything right" to prevent social collapse in the Southwest
and that the totalitarian uniformity of valueless mass culture may soften that
collapse. He also sees very clearly what has brought this crisis on: the
American globalist ideology's lust for cheap labor and emphasis on "raw
inclusiveness" instead of "standards and taste."

This review is

This
book shows how Mexico sends their poor to America to work, so they don't have
to improve their own country, and how we use these people for cheap labor so
that we can sell things for less. It's a deal made between the two countries.
The trouble is, it's not what American citizens want. The "servants of the
people", the representatives, are not listening to us, so it's always
exciting to read something that really tells it like it is.
This book is written from the viewpoint of someone who actually
lives with these Mexican immigrants. The rich people who want to use them in
their businesses for cheap labor don't live with them; the liberal elites who
push for them to get amnesty don't live with them. This guy lives among them,
and knows the problems first hand, and as I suspected, there are many, and
they're not pretty.
He writes very bluntly about the problems, but not without
sympathy for the Mexican immigrants whose own country won't take care of them.
With all the new books out and the discussions going on about legal and illegal
immigration, and what the American people want, I'm hoping that these problems
will be solved. This book is one of the best on the subject, because it is
written from a viewpoint of personal experience.

Victor
Hanson combines scholarship (Professor at Cal State) with personal experience
(life long resident and farmer in central CA. who has Mexican-American family
and friends) to present a thoughtful look at the illegal Mexican immigration
crisis. Hanson argues that the reason for this crisis is that both ends of the
political spectrum have vested interests in continuing the unabated entry of
illegal Mexicans. Republicans wish to placate business interests with cheap
labor and Democrats hope for a future electoral base. Hanson further explains
that this wave is not like the earlier waves of Polish, Jewish, or Italian
immigration which was of a fixed duration and where the connection of the new
immigrant to the Homeland was more thoroughly severed.
This book is well written and to the point (approx. 140 pages). I have also seen Victor Hanson on several political talk shows. He is well spoken and mild mannered which is a welcome relief from the cacophonous diatribe we too often get on cable news channels.

As
one who shares the author's ethnic,cultural and geographical heritage, I
thought Hanson did a marvelous job of assessing California's major social
issue, and one of America's primary problems. Like Hanson, I was born and
reared in Fresno County, albeit some 25 miles from his native Selma. I can
attest to the accuracy of his description of Selma and the Central Valley in
the 1950's.
As a child, my associates included Hispanics; as a teenager
working in the fig and peach orchards, my fellow workers were Hispanic. During
my professional career, I have hired and promoted many Hispanics.
Hanson's Scandinavian ancestors (from Sweden) and mine (from
Denmark) came to America legally and without speaking English, but they
succeeded--without bilingual classes, welfare, government subsidies, or that
phenomenon known as "affirmative action", which is being rapidly
unmasked as nothing, more or less, than "reverse discrimination".
Hanson deftly exposes the race industry as an amalgam of organizations and
individuals who are quick to attack the Anglo for any slight, either real or
imagined, but who, in the long run, seem not to do much for those whom they
purport to serve.
As a criminologist, I am well aware of the violence committed by
Hispanic Gangs, and the fact that those gangsters who do not wind up in the
morgue soon become expensive inmates in our overcrowded prison system, costing
taxpayers some $25k per year each. I am equally aware of the many outstanding
Hispanic officers, prosecutors, and judges with whom I've worked.
Hanson has eloquently described the failure of our educational
programs to work toward an assimilated America, as well as the failure of the
"separatists" in the race industry.
The one failure which, to my surprise, he did not identify is that
of our elected officials who establish public policy. When Hanson and I were
youngsters/young men in the Central Valley, the politicians seemed to act in
the best interests of their constituencies. Today,by and large, our politicians
have little integrity, but rather pander incessantly to special interests
which, in turn, provide them with campaign funds, endorsements,and precinct
workers.It is common knowledge that, in Sacramento, legislative votes are
"for sale" almost daily. Until we can restore some integrity among
our public officials, we will not move toward a better California--better for
Hispanics, Anglos, African Americans, Asians, and all others!
Except for his failure to discuss the lack of integrity among many
of our elected officials, Hanson has done an admirable job. Mexifornia should
be on the "must read" list of all who are concerned about the future
of Californians, nothwithstanding the color of their skins!

We know Dick Lamm as the former
Governor of Colorado. In that context his thoughts are particularly poignant.
Last week there was an immigration overpopulation conference in Washington, DC,
filled to capacity by many of America's finest minds and leaders. A brilliant
college professor by the name of Victor Hansen Davis talked about his latest
book, "Mexifornia," explaining how immigration - both legal and
illegal was destroying the entire state of California. He said it would march
across the country until it destroyed all vestiges of The American Dream.
Moments later, former Colorado Governor Richard D. Lamm stood up and gave a stunning speech on how to destroy America. That there are no cultural differences. I would make it an article of faith that the Black and Hispanic dropout rates are due solely to prejudice and
discrimination by the majority. Every other explanation is out of bounds.
Third, "We could make the United States an 'Hispanic Quebec' without much effort. The key is to celebrate diversity rather than unity. As Benjamin Schwarz said in the Atlantic Monthly recently: "The apparent success of our own multiethnic and multicultural experiment might have been achieved not by tolerance but by hegemony. Without the dominance that once dictated ethnocentricity and what it meant to be an American, we! are left with only tolerance and pluralism to hold us together." Lamm said, "I would encourage all immigrants to keep their own language and culture. I would replace the melting pot metaphor with the salad bowl metaphor. It is important to ensure that we have

"Fourth, I would make our fastest growing demographic group the least educated. I would add a second underclass, unassimilated, undereducated, and antagonistic to our population. I would have this second underclass have a 50% dropout rate from high school."
"My fifth point for destroying America would be to get big foundations and business to give these efforts lots of money. I would invest in ethnic identity, and I would establish the cult of 'Victimology.' I would get all minorities to think that their lack of success was the fault of the majority. I would start a grievance industry blaming all
minority failure on the majority population."
"My sixth plan for America's downfall would include dual citizenship, and promote divided loyalties. I would celebrate diversity over unity. I would stress differences rather than similarities. Greece fell. "E. Pluribus Unum" -- From many, one. In that historical reality, if we put the emphasis on the 'pluribus' instead of the 'Unum,' we will balkanize America as surely as Kosovo."
"Next to last, I would place all subjects off limits; make it taboo to talk about anything against the cult of 'diversity.' I would find a word similar to 'heretic' in the 16th century - that stopped discussion and paralyzed thinking. Words like 'racist' or 'xenophobe' halt discussion and debate. Having made America a bilingual/bicultural country, having established multi-culturism, having the large foundations fund the! doctrine of 'Victimology,' I would next make it impossible to enforce our immigration laws.
