Harry Reid and the politics of winning at
any cost

I don’t
know the person’s name, but I think I know who told Harry Reid that Mitt Romney
didn’t pay taxes for 10 years. I think it was the same person who spread
equally unsubstantiated rumors about President Obama’s birth certificate. And
why not? It’s all the same baseless tale-bearing that degrades politics and
breeds the mistrust which is making good governance increasingly impossible.
“An investor said”... An "anonymous caller" claimed... "I have it on good authority that"... "I am not certain that it’s true, but..." This is the stuff of the worst political cultures in the world – cultures which trade in fear instead of results, and picking at old wounds instead of healing them.
The fact that a sitting senator, and the Majority Leader no less, could engage in rumor mongering and innuendo at this level may be without parallel, at least since the era of Joe McCarthy. And as with then, this is behavior of which Sen. Reid, all those who support him, and even those who remain silent in the face of his egregious behavior, will come to be ashamed.
These are
not stupid people, so what is it that animates them? What possible
justification are they offering themselves? How do they rationalize such
grossly irresponsible behavior on the part of an otherwise sane individual?
What could so twist someone’s sense of their role, and warp their sense
of responsible use of the position to which they have been elevated?
When
either side believes that victory by any means is an acceptable way to
campaign, as the current round of rumor mongering suggests they do, we all
lose, regardless of who wins the election.
Certainly,
the stakes are high and differences between the candidates are real, but the
absolute refusal to either back up or walk back such outrageous claims can only
be fueled by a sense that winning is not everything, as famed Coach Vince
Lombardi once said, but the only thing. This may
be an inspiring approach to football, but it's nothing less than an offensive
approach to helping President Obama win a second term. Not to mention one
which will make that second term even less likely to be constructive and
productive.
Let’s
assume for the moment that Sen. Reid’s rumor-mongering pays off – that he
succeeds in raising enough popular suspicion in this closely contested race to
help the president achieve victory. By the time that will have happened,
the pollsters will have tracked that “positive” result for Democrats, and it
will surely be used by Republicans as evidence of the impossibility of working
with a president who refused to distance himself from either the rumor or the
one who spread it. And not without some justification.
Whether
Senator Reid is knowingly lying or simply guilty of using unsubstantiated
innuendo to make his claims doesn’t actually matter. Either way he has dragged
us all back to the McCarthy era in ways that will stain his reputation and harm
those who refuse to learn from the past and distance themselves from Reid’s
ugly tactics.
And
ultimately, it is not simply Senator Reid and his supporters who will
lose.
When
either side believes that victory by any means is an acceptable way to
campaign, as the current round of rumor mongering suggests they do, we all
lose, regardless of who wins the election.
Unfortunately,
Harry Reid and his defenders, both active and passive, seem to miss that
reality, forget the ugly history which his behavior recalls, and confuse the
mandate to lead a nation responsibly with simply playing a game of football.

American Taxpayers Being Forced To Support Latino
Nazi Party

In 2005, the Latino group known as La Raza (The
Race) was given $15.2 million in U.S. federal grants. La Raza also received an
additional $4 million in so-called 'earmarks' tucked into the 2005 Housing
Bill, which our Congress passed and President Bush signed. Considering the
racist agenda of La Raza, giving federal funds to this group is tantamount to
the U.S. funding the Nazis in the 1930's.
The comparison to the Nazi Party is well deserved.
La Raza openly supports pushing all but Latino Americans out of a portion of
the United States (ethnic cleansing), they call for 'Reconquista' or the
re-conquest of the American Southwest by Mexico (the re-occupation of the
Sudetanland), and the establishment of 'Atzlan' which is the utopian all-Latino
version of the American Southwestern states (Adolf Hitler planned to called his
utopia Germania).
Karl Rove
was one of the keynote speakers at this year's annual National Council of La
Raza Conference. The event was held in Los Angeles (the eventual capital of
Atzlan). Other speakers included Jesse Jackson, Bill Clinton, and the virulent
racist L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. The fact that Karl Rove is the
President's top political adviser and addressed the group with Bush's blessing,
is a strong indicator that this nation is being subverted at the very highest
levels.
If La Raza
was a white supremacist group with equally deep pockets, the U.S. government
would place them on a terrorist watch list, infiltrate them with undercover FBI
agents, and subject them to constant harassment by the Internal Revenue
Service. Eventually, the group's leaders would be jailed and the group itself
would be rendered irrelevant. However, because La Raza is a Latino supremacist
group, the Bush administration and most of Congress offer them financial
support!
One of La Raza's biggest supporters is Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV). In 2001,

La Raza. Inside the halls of Congress, the practice is known as discretionary
funding...In the real world it is known as money laundering!
In 2005,
$7.9 million was stolen from the American taxpayers and given out to
Latino-only charter schools in the form of U.S. Department of Education grants.

This same group reports that La Raza spends about $1 million annually on
lobbying and fundraising.
Can you
imagine a high-ranking member of the Roosevelt administration making a trip to
Berlin to show support for the Nazi Party? Or perhaps the Congress
appropriating money to the Ku Klux Klan? While those scenarios both sound
absurd, the support that our elected officials are giving to the racist group
known as La Raza is no different.
One has to
wonder, if the KKK offered extremely cheap labor to unscrupulous American
businesses and potential votes to equally unscrupulous politicians...Would
Congress fund whites-only charter schools?

Casting a shadow on economic recovery efforts in the United States
is the cost of illegal immigration that consumes U.S. taxpayer dollars for
education, healthcare, social welfare benefits, and criminal justice. Illegal
aliens (or more politically correct, “undocumented immigrants”) with ties to
Mexican drug cartels are contributing to death and destruction on U.S. lands
along the southern border.
While the declining job market in the United States may be discouraging some would-be border crossers, a flow of illegal aliens continues unabated, with many entering the United States as drug-smuggling “mules.”
Increasingly vicious foot soldiers of the Mexican drug cartels are taking control of U.S. lands along the border, especially since U.S. Border Patrol units have been reassigned, some to offices 60 to 80 miles inland.
The U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) early last year posted signs warning citizens to avoid Interstate 8 between Casa Grande and Gila Bend, Ariz., because of criminal activity in the area, an area that includes protected natural areas precious to the nation.
In reaction to public outrage over the signs, the BLM removed the offensive wording in October 2010, replacing it with the following: Visitor Information Update—Active Federal Law Enforcement Patrol Area.
As the liberal news media, far-left Democrats, and labor unions push for the “Hispanicazation” of U.S. culture, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano says the U.S. border has never been more secure.

administration will sue Arizona for trying to help Washington enforce federal
immigration laws, but flatly rejects the notion of suing sanctuary cities that
blatantly defy those same laws. That announcement two weeks ago
