A New Jersey police officer has been charged with assault after evidence surfaced of him punching a handcuffed suspect in the face.
Surveillance footage of officer Todd Ritter, 54, of Millstone striking the unidentified man on Feb. 12 has led to his unpaid suspension.
The suspect claims that he was assaulted by another officer during the arrest, according to NJ.com.

Footage of the incident, which showed the handcuffed being struck by Ritter while inside a police cruiser, was released to the public by the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office on Saturday.  
'I didn't resist. ... I ain't resist at all,' the man pleads with officers as the clip begins. 
'This b***h just slammed me on my head and put his knee, kneed me in my face,' the suspect continues.
'You think it's funny?' the suspect asks. '... He got mad because I said something, and he gone and slammed me. ... I said I can't breathe, then he threatened and said he was going to f**k me up and everything.'
After his complaints prove futile, the handcuffed suspect can be seen kicking a glass partition that separates the back seats from the front inside the cruiser. 
The unidentified man can also be heard threatening the lives of the police officers. 
'I'm gonna break it,' the man yells. '... Why you gotta lie? ... I'm gonna kill all you all n*****s, watch!'

At that point, Ritter stops his police car and exits the vehicle. He can then be seen opening the back door of the cruiser, pull back his fist and strike the suspect across the face.  
'Stop kicking. Stop stressing. Stop kicking me in the balls,' Ritter yells as he holds the man down in the back seat.
'Put me in a different car,' the man demands to another officer. 'Yo, this guy just punched me in my face.'
'This a*****e just kicked me in the nuts,' Ritter claims to the other officer in response.
'He's lying! I swear to God, he's lying! He punched me in my face!' the suspect says in response. 
Prosecutors also allege that Ritter, who has been on the Middlesex police force since 1996, falsified a police report to cover up the incident .
