JOBS IN AMERICA: THE APPALLING SITUATION FOR LEGALS LOOKING FOR WORK IN A COUNTRY THAT IMPORTS MILLIONS TO KEEP WAGES DEPRESSED
Washington, D.C. (May 22, 2018) – The Center of Immigration Studies analysis of new Bureau of Labor Statistics data for the first quarter of 2018 shows that the labor force participation rate has not returned to pre-2007 recession levels, and relative to 2000 the rate looks even worse. Things are particularly bad for those without a college education. The problem is not confined to one area of the country; in virtually every state, labor force participation is lower in 2018 than in 2007 or 2000 among the less-educated.
While the unemployment rate has improved significantly in recent years, the official unemployment rate includes only those who say they have looked for a job in the last four weeks. It does not include those of working age who have dropped out of the labor force entirely – neither working nor looking for work.
Dr. Steven Camarota, the Center's director of research and author of the report, said, "The current low unemployment rate is misleading because it does not include people who have left the labor force entirely. There is an enormous pool of potential workers who could be drawn back into jobs if we let the market work, forcing employers to change recruiting practices, raise wages, and improve working conditions. Instead, some employers are lobbying to bring in more foreign workers to avoid having to make such changes."
The overall unemployment rate for natives in the first quarter of 2018 was 4.4 percent, much lower than at the peak of the Great Recession. However, the overall unemployment rate obscures the low labor force participation rate, especially among those without a college education.
There has been a long-term decline in the labor force participation rate of working-age (18 to 65) natives without a bachelor's degree. Only 70 percent of natives in this group were in the labor force in the first quarter of 2018; in 2007, before the recession, it was 73.8 percent, and in the first quarter of 2000 it was 76.1 percent.
The labor force participation rate of natives without a college degree has shown no meaningful improvement in recent years. For example, in the first quarter of 2012 it was actually slightly better than it was in the first quarter of 2018.
The decline in labor force participation among those without a bachelor's degree is even more profound when it is measured relative to those who are more educated.
In the first quarter of 2018, 70 percent of natives without a bachelor's degree were in the labor force, compared to 85.8 percent of those with a bachelor's degree — a 15.8 percentage-point difference. In the first quarter of 2007, the gap was 12.4 percentage points, and in the first quarter of 2000 the gap was 11.7 percentage points.
In 48 states plus the District of Columbia, labor force participation of natives without a college degree was lower in the first quarter of 2018 than the same quarter in 2007. The same is true comparing 2000 to 2018.
Among immigrants:
Working-age immigrants without a college education also have not fared well since the recession. Unlike the labor force participation of natives, immigrants without a college education did improve their situation between 2000 and 2007. But it has not returned to 2007 levels. Also like natives, there has been no meaningful progress in the last few years.
In the first quarter of 2018, the labor force participation rate of immigrants (18 to 65) without a bachelor's degree was 71.9 percent, somewhat better than that of natives, but still below their rate of 73.4 percent in the first quarter of 2007.
Immigrants and natives not in the labor force:
In the first quarter of 2018, there were a total of 50.1 million immigrants and natives ages 18 to 65 not in the labor force, up from 43.3 million in 2007 and 37.2 million in 2000.
Of the 50.1 million currently not in the labor force, 39.9 million (80 percent) do not have a bachelor's degree.
The above figures do not include the unemployed, who are considered to be part of the labor force because, although they are not working, they are looking for work. There were almost seven million unemployed immigrants and natives in the first quarter of this year; more than three-fourths of the unemployed do not have a bachelor's degree.
The United States has imported more than 10 million legal immigrants in the last ten years, federal data circulated by the White House reveals.
Since 2008, the U.S. has admitted and permanently resettled close to 10.8 million legal immigrants, a foreign population that exceeds the entire population of New York City, New York — where more than 8 million residents live.
Of those roughly 10.8 million legal immigrants resettled across the U.S., the majority derives from the process known as “chain migration,” where newly naturalized citizens are allowed to bring an unlimited number of foreign relatives to the country.
Nearly 7.8 million legal immigrants have been imported to the U.S. through chain migration since 2008.
Another 478,000 legal immigrants have entered the U.S. through the Diversity Visa Lottery program in that same time period. The Visa Lottery randomly gives out 50,000 visas every year to foreign nationals from a multitude of countries, including those with known terrorism problems – such as Afghanistan, Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, Yemen, and Uzbekistan. Visa Lottery winners have undergone only minor screening from immigration officials, even when their ideology is hostile to Americans laws and culture.

Last year, it was revealed that 29-year-old Sayfullo Saipov — the man who allegedly mowed down pedestrians in the Tribeca neighborhood of New York City — entered the U.S. in 2010 from Uzbekistan through the Visa Lottery before obtaining a Green Card to permanently stay in the country.
Meanwhile, a majority of American likely voters have continuously told pollsters that they want to see legal immigration reduced to the U.S., including an end to chain migration and the Visa Lottery program.
In the latest poll by the Polling Company, a majority, 52 percent, of swing-voters said they wanted to see chain migration eliminated.
Despite sweeping nationwide support for wage-boosting legal immigration cuts, the Republican establishment has fixated their midterm re-election campaigns on a tax cuts, amnesty, and prison reform agenda driven by the billionaire GOP megadonors, the Koch brothers.

BLITZER: Let me get to another issue, a sensitive issue, that you guys in the House of Representatives are dealing with right now involving the DREAMers, the young people brought here to the United States by their parents, undocumented immigrants. Two more Republican members of the House, they’ve now signed on to a petition to try to bring several of these so-called DACA bills to the House floor for formal votes against the express wishes of the House Speaker Paul Ryan. That would make about 20 Republicans right now total. If five more sign on, along with all of the Democrats in the House, it will actually force the speaker’s hand. Will you get those five more Republicans and force a vote on this sensitive issue?
SPEIER: I think it really depends on the polling that they’re seeing in their districts. I really do think it’s self-preservation at this point from any of the Republicans, and that’s why you see them willing to join on. It’s a fairness issue as well. These DACA kids, everyone agrees, a vast majority of Americans agree that they have a right to stay in this country and enjoy a pathway to citizenship as long as they haven’t committed any crimes and were brought here before the age of 16. So it’s something the president himself has said he was supportive of. So it’s time for us to act. That’s the biggest problem in Congress right now, is the inability to act on very important issues.
BLITZER: The president said he would support allowing those DREAMers to stay in the United States and eventually even have a pathway to citizenship, but only if you and the House and the Senate approve billions of dollars to build a new wall along the U.S.-Mexico border and took other steps curtailing immigration into the United States. You’re not ready to do that, right?
SPEIER: No. But I have said publically before that if what we’re doing is build a useless wall for a couple of years that we can then tear down, I’m willing to pay that price to make sure these DACA kids can stay in the country. I’m not willing to put new immigration restrictions that will split up families and the like. But if it’s just the wall, I would certainly entertain that.
BLITZER: Yes, I’ve heard that from several of your other Democratic colleagues as well.
Sen. Cassidy's Doable Idea for Paying for the Wall

Sen. Cassidy suggested that money seized from drug cartels should be used to fund the wall. It is a simple idea that could work.
Asset seizures have been a method law enforcement has used for a while. If an item is determined to be used in criminal enterprise whether that is a stash house, money, vehicles, firearms, home security systems, televisions, or anything else, officers will seize the items. After the case is decided, the pieces are sold at auction, and the agency keeps the money.
Law enforcement agencies will also use seized drug money for buying new equipment or assets for their departments. They will purchase new vehicles, bullet-resistant vests, firearms, and other unique items that are needed.
Trump would be a fool if he didn’t push this idea. He needs to quickly get behind this and make it a piece of the midterm election strategy when he campaigns. Immigration is the number one issue right now. Trump-aligned candidates should promptly make the Cassidy idea a crucial part of their campaign.

NC Police Find $90 Million in Meth Hidden in Truck Driven by Alleged Illegal Alien
Officials in Linden, North Carolina, discovered 120 gallons of liquid methamphetamine hidden inside the fuel tank of a semi truck being driven by an alleged illegal alien, reports say.
Harnett County Sheriff’s officers pulled the truck over on May 19 and discovered the large amount of the liquefied drug. According to WRAL, the liquid was destined to be turned into 454 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and would have had a street value of $90.8 million.
The seizure was part of a wider investigation into the trafficking of meth in the area.
The truck was crewed by Raul Topete Arreola, 49, and Aquileo Perez Pineda, 48. Pineda was quickly put on an immigration hold while immigration officials looked into Arreola’s immigration status.
The pair were charged with three counts each of trafficking methamphetamine and placed under a three million dollar bond.
The National Security Commissioner for Mexico, Renato Sales, confirmed the capture of Carlos Arturo Quintana, “El 80,” the leader of “La LÃnea”–the armed wing of the Juárez Cartel (Nuevo Cartel de Juárez) and one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives.
The National Security Commissioner announced the apprehension occurred on the morning of May 18, by the Mexican Army in coordination with the National Security Commission and Federal Police in Namiquipa, Chihuahua.
Quintana, currently listed under the FBI’s Criminal Enterprise Investigations, is wanted for drug trafficking charges in New Mexico. La LÃnea is considered one of the most violent in Chihuahua.
According to law enforcement sources from the Security Cabinet, they confirmed to La Jornada the participation of “an elite group” involved in the capture of Quintana.
Quintana was singled out by authorities for making threats against journalist Miroslava Breach Velducea, a correspondent for La Jornada in Chihuahua, murdered in March 2017.
According to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), La LÃnea is currently involved in a bitter dispute for valuable territory in Chihuahua against the Sinaloa Cartel factions led by Rafael Caro-Quintero and Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada—both are wanted by the FBI.

Border Patrol agents found 38 illegal immigrants being warehoused in “deplorable conditions” in a small house in Laredo, Texas, an official stated.
Laredo Sector agents working with Webb County Sheriff’s Office deputies observed suspicious behavior in a home located on Laredo’s south side not far from the unprotected Rio Grande River border with Mexico. Agents and sheriff’s deputies entered the residence after obtaining permission and discovered 38 illegal immigrants packed into the small home, according to information obtained by Breitbart Texas from Border Patrol officials.

Officials said the illegal immigrants pictured above came to the U.S. from El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico.
This part of Laredo is near the area where more than 230 Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested this fiscal year after they illegally crossed the border from Mexico. Officials arrested eight Bangladeshi nationals in Laredo earlier this week.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations agents worked with Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents earlier this month to disrupt another Laredo stash house, Breitbart Texas reported. The agents found 36 illegal immigrants from Guatemala, Mexico, El Salvador, and Honduras, officials stated.
The migrants are now subject to prosecution in criminal court for illegally entering the U.S. according to a “zero tolerance” policy put in place by U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions this month.
The attorney general said his department will refer anyone who enters the United States illegally for prosecution, Breitbart News reported.
“And the Department of Justice will take up as many of those cases as humanly possible until we get to 100 percent,” Sessions said as part of a speech at a law enforcement conference in Arizona.

These DACA kids, everyone agrees, a vast majority of Americans agree that they have a right to stay in this country and enjoy a pathway to citizenship as long as they haven’t committed any crimes and were brought here before the age of 16. So it’s something the president himself has said he was supportive of. So it’s time for us to act. That’s the biggest problem in Congress right now, is the inability to act on very important issues.
BLITZER: The president said he would support allowing those DREAMers to stay in the United States and eventually even have a pathway to citizenship, but only if you and the House and the Senate approve billions of dollars to build a new wall along the U.S.-Mexico border and took other steps curtailing immigration into the United States. You’re not ready to do that, right?
SPEIER: No. But I have said publically before that if what we’re doing is build a useless wall for a couple of years that we can then tear down, I’m willing to pay that price to make sure these DACA kids can stay in the country. I’m not willing to put new immigration restrictions that will split up families and the like. But if it’s just the wall, I would certainly entertain that.
BLITZER: Yes, I’ve heard that from several of your other Democratic colleagues as well.
Sen. Cassidy's Doable Idea for Paying for the Wall

Sen. Cassidy suggested that money seized from drug cartels should be used to fund the wall. It is a simple idea that could work.
Asset seizures have been a method law enforcement has used for a while. If an item is determined to be used in criminal enterprise whether that is a stash house, money, vehicles, firearms, home security systems, televisions, or anything else, officers will seize the items. After the case is decided, the pieces are sold at auction, and the agency keeps the money.
Law enforcement agencies will also use seized drug money for buying new equipment or assets for their departments. They will purchase new vehicles, bullet-resistant vests, firearms, and other unique items that are needed.
Trump would be a fool if he didn’t push this idea. He needs to quickly get behind this and make it a piece of the midterm election strategy when he campaigns. Immigration is the number one issue right now. Trump-aligned candidates should promptly make the Cassidy idea a crucial part of their campaign.

NC Police Find $90 Million in Meth Hidden in Truck Driven by Alleged Illegal Alien
Officials in Linden, North Carolina, discovered 120 gallons of liquid methamphetamine hidden inside the fuel tank of a semi truck being driven by an alleged illegal alien, reports say.
Harnett County Sheriff’s officers pulled the truck over on May 19 and discovered the large amount of the liquefied drug. According to WRAL, the liquid was destined to be turned into 454 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and would have had a street value of $90.8 million.
The seizure was part of a wider investigation into the trafficking of meth in the area.
The truck was crewed by Raul Topete Arreola, 49, and Aquileo Perez Pineda, 48. Pineda was quickly put on an immigration hold while immigration officials looked into Arreola’s immigration status.
The pair were charged with three counts each of trafficking methamphetamine and placed under a three million dollar bond.

THE MEXICAN DRUG CARTELS OPERATING IN AMERICA’S OPEN BORDERS

Border Patrol agents found 38 illegal immigrants being warehoused in “deplorable conditions” in a small house in Laredo, Texas, an official stated.
Laredo Sector agents working with Webb County Sheriff’s Office deputies observed suspicious behavior in a home located on Laredo’s south side not far from the unprotected Rio Grande River border with Mexico. Agents and sheriff’s deputies entered the residence after obtaining permission and discovered 38 illegal immigrants packed into the small home, according to information obtained by Breitbart Texas from Border Patrol officials.

The neighborhood appears to be comprised of small homes and mobile homes.
“United States Border Patrol continues to work in coordination with our law enforcement partners at Webb County Sheriff’s Office and these collaborative efforts, as this enforcement action illustrates, continue to help disrupt illicit activity and deny criminal organizations the ability to operate,” Laredo Sector Assistant Chief Patrol Agent Gabriel Acosta stated. “We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to prosecute those responsible and prevent individuals from being subjected to deplorable conditions.”
Officials said the illegal immigrants pictured above came to the U.S. from El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico.
This part of Laredo is near the area where more than 230 Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested this fiscal year after they illegally crossed the border from Mexico. Officials arrested eight Bangladeshi nationals in Laredo earlier this week.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations agents worked with Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents earlier this month to disrupt another Laredo stash house, Breitbart Texas reported. The agents found 36 illegal immigrants from Guatemala, Mexico, El Salvador, and Honduras, officials stated.
The migrants are now subject to prosecution in criminal court for illegally entering the U.S. according to a “zero tolerance” policy put in place by U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions this month.
The attorney general said his department will refer anyone who enters the United States illegally for prosecution, Breitbart News reported.
“And the Department of Justice will take up as many of those cases as humanly possible until we get to 100 percent,” Sessions said as part of a speech at a law enforcement conference in Arizona.
