MONICA SHOWALTER - VP MIKE PENCE COMES TO CALIFORNIA TO CAMPAIGN FOR JOHN COX.... Can Cox save Mexifornia from the La Raza Supremacy Democrat Party and Mexico???

Mike Pence is coming to California to campaign for John Cox

An interested reader sent us the following panicky email from California's Gavin Newsom for Governor campaign. Get a load:

That's weird stuff indeed, given the punditocracy's comfortable assertion that Republican John Cox, who's challenging Democrat Gavin Newsom for the governor's seat in California, hasn't got a snowball's chance in Death Valley of getting elected. After all, isn't California the immutable blue state? The state that will never vote red? Don't Democrat voter registrations outnumber Republican registrations 20 to one? The state with all those Democratic Party voter registrations, buttressed by its motor voter law, registering all comers, illegal or otherwise?
Trump himself has repeatedly stated he doesn't visit states much if he's got a solid lead in the internal polling. He made just those remarks in speeches to South Carolina and Montana, which were rollicking fun to listen to, well, if you're a Republican. It would make sense that his team wouldn't bother with states where a Republican candidate is certain to lose.
Especially not with Vice President Mike Pence, who's a rather important part of the Trump team and the only guy on it with a political base of his own who can't be fired. Trump would send someone that significant to California? To waste his time? To talk to nonexistent Republican voters?
Not if it were a losing race.
Which says a lot about how full of surprises this midterm election might just become. The Pence decision would have been based on internal polling suggesting that the Democrats' blue wave isn't all it's cracked up to be. Already the results were there in the primaries, and we can also see it in the Democrats' squabbles over leadership. Today I wrote about how many of their supposed brightest stars are brimming with fake followers.
This doesn't sound like good news for the Democrats. The Trump era is the era that throws prognostication of pundits out on their ear. Pence's visit is reason for Republicans to look for some surprises.

Mexican president-elect assembles right-wing cabinet

By Alex González
14 July 2018
After a sweeping victory in the Mexican presidential elections, Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), the leader of the Movement for National Regeneration (Morena), has proposed a cabinet for his upcoming six-year administration that is dominated by leading figures of previous reactionary Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and Party for National Action (PAN) administrations.
AMLO, whose coalition included Morena, the Evangelical Christian right-wing Social Encounter Party (PES) and the Workers Party (PT), won more votes than any other Mexican presidential candidate in history and more than twice the number of votes as the runner up, Ricardo Anaya of a coalition including the right-wing National Action Party (PAN) and center-left Party for Democratic Revolution (PRD).
The Morena-led coalition will have a super majority in both houses of congress and the mayorship of Mexico City, the second largest city in Latin America. Morena also won governor races in five out of the nine states that held elections. The new federal and state governments will take office on December 1.
The election results are another indication of a leftward shift in the population. Over 30 million people voted for AMLO and Morena, many of them based on the illusion that the new administration would implement measures to address rampant inequality, the country’s advanced state of militarization, and the plight of immigrants on both sides of the border.
Studies have shown that the purchasing power of the population has declined by as much as 80 percent in the past three decades, while the homicide rate is equivalent to, if not worse than, war-torn countries. Highlighting the collaboration of the Mexican government with the US deportation apparatus, a recent report by the BBC revealed that the Mexican government detained—often under deplorable conditions—and deported over 138,000 Central American children under the outgoing Peña Nieto administration.
AMLO’s cabinet is very close to the one he proposed last December. While the media and pseudo-left have hailed the “progressive” gender composition of his cabinet (eight men and eight women), the appointment of well-known figures from former administrations is yet another reassurance to the powers-that-be that he is a “responsible” bourgeois politician who can be trusted to safeguard their interests.
Esteban Moctezuma, the proposed secretary of education, was an interior and social development minister under former PRI president Ernesto Zedillo (1994-2000). On Wednesday, Moctezuma stated that the national teacher evaluations would stay in place, albeit with removed provisions that tie scores to hiring and pay. He also stated that teachers who missed working days while on strike should be subject to punishment by the school administrations and the unions. In June, a strike by more than 80,000 teachers was betrayed by the teachers’ unions, which urged them to vote for AMLO as a supposed solution to their demands. This has been exposed as a reactionary fraud.
For the position of secretary of the interior, AMLO has tapped Olga Sánchez Cordero Dávila, a former member of the Mexican supreme court and a Zedillo appointee. Sánchez Cordero has already backpedaled on AMLO’s campaign promise to dismantle the Mexican intelligence agency Cisen. The agency came under fire last year after an investigation by the New York Times revealed that the Mexican government had purchased software to hack into the phones of journalists and political opponents.
As overseer of the Cisen, Sánchez Cordero has expressed her enthusiastic support for the repression of social struggles. “It is imperative that we rule using intelligence. ... Imagine that there is a social movement in Guerrero or Oaxaca and that we do not have knowledge of these social movements, that we do not have knowledge of what is happening in Mexican society,” said Sánchez Cordero. “That would be very serious.”
The proposed secretary of finance, Carlos Urzúa, is an economist and World Bank consultant. He has reiterated promises to maintain “fiscal balance,” i.e., to not raise taxes on the rich or undertake significant spending on social programs. Instead, the AMLO administration has proposed “consolidating social welfare programs” and “centralizing government purchases” to finance his minuscule new programs. In other words, even with control of the legislature and the presidency, the new government will not carry out any significant measures to address the country’s social crisis.
Urzúa has elaborated on AMLO’s campaign promise to improve “competitiveness” along the US-Mexico border by slashing the value added tax (VAT) in half. Last week, Urzúa detailed that the “free zone” would extend around 30 kilometers south of the border, encompassing the cities of Tijuana, Mexicali, Ciudad Juárez and Reynosa.
Recent studies have estimated that such a policy would create a budget shortfall of 30.3 billion pesos per year (about US$1.6 billion). Given that AMLO has promised an “austerity budget,” lowering taxes will be paid for by attacks on social programs and the creation of a super-exploited labor force for transnational corporations.
Alfonzo Durazo, AMLO’s new chief of public security, was a former member of the PRI before being appointed as private secretary of former PAN president Vicente Fox (2000-2006). Durazo has vowed to create a new border police force to round up and deport immigrants. “We need to create a border police force that will be highly specialized. ... They need to apply the law,” stated Durazo in a recent interview.
As for AMLO’s nebulous campaign promise to “fight corruption,” Durazo disclosed that this meant increasing the salaries of law enforcement officials and creating more police academies to double the number of security personnel that could receive training each year. AMLO has previously backed centralizing the country’s police forces and holding daily briefings with military brass.
The repressive measures that organically flow from AMLO’s right-wing policies are spelled out by the inclusion of Manuel Mondragón, who is infamous for coordinating the assault on demonstrators during the inauguration of Peña Nieto in 2012. The assault on the peaceful protesters led to one death and the injuries of dozens of students. After AMLO confirmed that Mondragón would join his security team, the hashtag #MondragónNoEsCambio (#MondragónIsNotChange) became a trending topic on social media.
As objective conditions draw the masses into struggle, illusions that AMLO or Morena will address the intolerable social and economic conditions confronting millions of Mexicans may dissipate sooner rather than later. AMLO is not rejecting the “mafia in power,” which he has blamed for the country’s social ills, but rather incorporating them into the highest levels of his government.

The task of socialists is not to lend “critical support” to AMLO, but to politically educate and prepare the working class for a revolutionary struggle to put an end to the capitalist system. This requires the unification of the Mexican working class with workers in the United States and across the Americas, who are also being driven into struggle.

Who ultimately really pays for all the true cost of all that "cheap" labor?

College-Grad Salaries Eroded by Hidden Army of 1.5 Million Visa-Workers

Every CEO in every company sees the business opportunity: Will I earn higher profits by replacing my American staff with cheaper H-1B workers? The answer is an obvious yes.
The Washington-imposed economic policy of economic growth via mass-immigration shifts wealth from young people towards older people by flooding the market with foreign labor. That process spikes profits and Wall Street values by cutting salaries for manual and skilled labor offered by blue-collar and white-collar employees. The policy also drives up real estate priceswidens wealth-gaps, reduces high-tech investment, increases state and local tax burdens, hurts kids’ schools and college education, pushes Americans away from high-tech careers, and sidelines at least 5 million marginalized Americans and their families, including many who are now struggling with opioid addictions.

There can be no resolution to any social problem confronting the population in the United States and internationally outside of a frontal assault on the wealth of the financial elite.

The political system is controlled by this social layer, which uses a portion of its economic plunder to bribe politicians and government officials, whether Democratic or Republican.

Only in America could critics of a group called "The Race" be labeled racists. Such is the triumph of left-wing identity chauvinists, whose aggressive activists and supine abettors have succeeded in redefining all opposition as "hate."

Previous generations of immigrants did not believe they were racially superior to Americans. That is the view of La Raza Cosmica, by Jose Vasconcelos, Mexico’s former education minister and a presidential candidate. According to this book, republished in 1979 by the Department of Chicano Studies at Cal State LA, students of Scandinavian, Dutch and English background are dullards, blacks are ugly and inferior, and those “Mongols” with the slanted eyes lack enterprise. Mexican president-elect López Obrador embraced by Mexico’s business titans

By Don Knowland
6 July 2018
Mexico’s president-elect Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) met on Wednesday behind closed doors with the Business Coordinating Council (Consejo Coordinador Empresarial, CCE), comprised of organizations representing the commanding heights of Mexican business. After the meeting, CCE members gave AMLO their “vote of confidence,” according to Gustavo de Hoyos Walther, president of the Employer Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex), the nation’s largest employers’ organization.
At a press conference afterwards, López Obrador said “it was a very cordial meeting, very good,” and that we are “coordinating to work together.” He expressed his “satisfaction with the attitude of the business sector” and thanked them “for their responsible attitude and mutual trust.”
AMLO went on to emphasize that “we are not going to impose anything, we are going to argue and convince. [O]ur movement has the majority, [but] it will not act in an overbearing manner: nothing by force, everything by reason and right. We are going to act with a lot of responsibility … We are in a time of reconciliation and national unity.”
Appearing with AMLO after the meeting, CCE president Juan Pablo Castañón, who until recently had been one of the most vocal critics of López Obrador, glowingly turned to his former nemesis and enthused that “the attitude has been one of confidence, of certainty, of serenity, of joint work and of a vision of the future. It is a great opportunity to work with your team [in the transition period].”
López Obrador’s picks for his chief of staff, Alfonso Romo, himself a prominent businessman and major investor, and future secretaries of Finance, Carlos Urzúa, and Labor, Luis María Alcalde, also attended the CCE meeting with AMLO. Shortly before the conclave, Romo told the press that AMLO’s early objective is to give “a lot of confidence” so that Mexico becomes a “paradise for investment.”
After the meeting, Alejandro Ramírez Magaña, president of the secretive Mexican Business Council (Consejo Mexicano de Negocios, CMN), which is composed of a select group of 60 billionaires and business tycoons such as Carlos Slim, the richest man in Mexico, said that López Obrador’s speech, was “very conciliatory, and we received it with optimism.” The relationship between AMLO and the business sector, he said, “will be very positive and will involve everyone.”
This comes scarcely two months after López Obrador had accused notable members of the CMN of comprising a “mafia of power” that had “trafficked in influence” with the government and interfered with his two prior presidential campaigns. Ramírez Magaña, who is CEO of Cinépolis, the largest cineplex chain in Mexico and Latin America, and CMN members Claudio X. González Laporte, chairman of Kimberly-Clark, Eduardo Tricio Haro, a major shareholder in Citibánamex and Aeroméxico, and Mexico’s second richest man, Alberto Baillères González, responded by effectively declaring themselves enemies of AMLO in inserts they published in major Mexican newspapers.
Baillères González, who had flat-out told his employees in May to vote for the candidate who had the best chance of defeating López Obrador, said in a letter Wednesday that he will “collaborate institutionally” with the new government, and congratulated AMLO for his victory in the elections.
Tatiana Clouthier, a key member of López Obrador’s transition team, on Wednesday posted on Facebook a video produced by CMN entitled “I believe in Mexico,” wherein these and other prominent CMN members offered him their support and to work with him.
The video includes Ramírez Magaña, who emphasizes that “entrepreneurs recognize and respect” AMLO’s triumph, González Laporte, Tricio Haro, Carlos Danel of Gentera, the largest microfinance company in Latin America, María Asunción Aramburuzabala, billionaire head of Tresalia Capital, and Daniel Servitje, from Grupo Bimbo, the world’s largest baking company, also appear with similar messages. The business titans commit themselves to continue investing in the country and generating “quality jobs.”
Following AMLO’s meeting with the CCE, González Laporte reiterated that the employers’ organizations have great “confidence” in him, and said that they will continue with their investments “in an environment of trust.”
González Laporte expressly gave the go-ahead to AMLO’s program to support 2.6 million young people, with the purpose of integrating them into working life through training. At the press conference on Wednesday, López Obrador explained that this program consists of “hiring young people as apprentices to have a job. Entrepreneurs will act as tutors. The government will transfer state resources to the companies to pay the payroll of these young people.”
In reality, this a program to develop large pools of trained but low-paid labor at government expense.
After the meeting, Coparmex head Walther stressed that his organization would begin working intensively in the coming weeks on the so-called “salary issue” with Graciela Márquez Colín and Luisa María Alcalde, who López Obrador has proposed to occupy the Secretariats of Economy and Labor and Social Welfare. This is a reference to AMLO’s proposal to selectively raise certain wages, which Comparmex has until now opposed.
At the meeting with the CCE Wednesday, AMLO’s team and the business leaders also pledged to invest in the largely poor, rural south of the country, in order to bring it into “the world of the 21st century.” Mexican capitalism undoubtedly eyes this area as a large pool of untapped labor.
Wednesday’s lovefest went on and on. Virtually no major sector of the Mexican economy failed to chime in, promising to work together in response to Lopez Obrador’s rapprochement with big business.
Bosco de la Vega, president of the National Agricultural Council (CNA), indicated that López Obrador’s message that he would not accept the seasonality of agricultural products under a renewed North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) was “good news.” De la Vega likewise confirmed that there is a “great vote of confidence” in AMLO from the sector he represents.
Similarly, the president of the Mexican Association of the Automotive Industry, Eduardo Solis, said that he will meet in three weeks with the next Secretary of Economy to work on building up the domestic car market, adding that no automaker would leave the country.
Mexico’s business elite had long accused AMLO of being an angry, radical left populist, who would resort to “authoritarian” measures, undoing privatizations and even carrying out expropriations in order to pursue his “socialist” agenda. As they and the new government undertake close cooperation on every aspect of his economic program, those fears are dissipating like a puff of smoke.
None of this will lead the pseudo left, that has almost uniformly supported López Obrador, many in the most glowing terms, to see him for what he is—yet another bourgeois politician who is embracing Mexico’s ruling oligarchy with open arms.
