Nancy Pelosi: There Will Be ‘Collateral Damage’ to Those Who Disagree with Us
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told a gathering at the 92nd Street Y in New York on Sunday that there may have to be “collateral damage” to those Americans who do not agree with the Democratic Party agenda.
Pelosi was being interviewed onstage by Paul Krugman, the left-wing New York Timescolumnist and Nobel economic laureate who predicted, the day Donald Trump won the presidency, that Trump would trigger “a global recession, with no end in sight.”
In a long, rambling monologue, during which she stumbled on her words and appeared to lose her train of thought, Pelosi said:
We have to have total clarity about what we do, when it comes to everything — a woman’s right to choose, gay marriage … whether it’s about immigration, whether it’s about gun safety, whether it’s about climate … I think that we owe the American people to be there for them, for their financial security, respecting the dignity and worth of every person in our country, and if there’s some collateral damage for some others who do not share our view, well, so be it, but it shouldn’t be our original purpose.
It is not clear what Pelosi meant by “collateral damage,” though Democrats have advocated ostracizing and even prosecuting those who do not share their views on climate change.
Democrats like Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), have also targeted Trump administration officials for harassment, and Republicans around the country have complained of intimidation and assault on the campaign trail in the run-up to the midterm elections.
On Monday, Pelosi told an audience at Harvard that Democrats would win the election, and the only question was whether it would be a “wave” or a “tsunami.”
Pelosi would likely return as speaker of the House if her party wins a majority.

Donald Trump Turns Migrants’ ‘Caravan’ Against Democrats
President Donald Trump is using the rising flood of job-seeking migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border to show how Democrats in Congress has refused to reform migration laws or even fund enough detention beds.
The rising inflow is forcing officials to release the overflow population of Central Americans into the U.S. job market, even though federal data shows that only about 1 in 50 migrants are eventually approved for asylum.
On Thursday, Trump spotlighted the so-called “caravan” of migrants and blamed pro-migration Democrats, such as Sens. Jon Tester, Sherrod Brown and Claire McCaskill.

The latest caravan of migrants moving through Mexico underscores the dramatic migration from Central America into the United States.
“It kinda of helps Republicans to have several thousand people coming across the border right before the election,” said Mark Krikorian, director at the Center for Immigration Studies. “It concentrates the mind, and it shows in a big way what the consequences are of Democratic obstruction and Republican leadership ambivalence about fixing the loopholes and funding detention,” he said, adding:
It makes sense. Some might see that as cynical, but it is not — they are saying this is the consequence of what Congress has failed to do. They are basically rubbing [Democrats’] noses in it, and showing that Congress has to act or that our border will be basically meaningless. Anyone who comes to the border who has been coached with a plausible story is now going to be let into the United States.
The inflow is rising because Central Americans in the United States are showing their relatives via cellphones how easy it is to get through the border loopholes and then find jobs. The loopholes are being kept open by Democrats and by business-first Republicans in Congress, despite the 2016 election results and Trump’s agency reforms.
From October 2017 to the end of August 2018, 136,000 migrants walked across the border, joining hundreds of thousands who have arrived since roughly 2010. That illegal-immigrant movement is also being amplified by the caravan of several thousand Central American migrants who now heading for California.
Border officials “are overwhelmed,” said Sheriff Leon Wilmot, who head of the Arizona Sheriff’s Association. Border officials “are releasing them out of the front door of their facilities,” he told Fox News.
For example, an Oct. 16 news alert from DHS spotlighted an Arizona KTAR News’ interview with Henry Lucero, Phoenix field office director for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. KTAR reported:
On the news in Guatemala they are saying that you can get a work permit if you’re in a family, if you’re coming with your child, and that you’re going to be released,” Lucero said.
He added that human smugglers are taking note. Immigrants are paying smugglers to get them to the border. Instead of attempting to cross into Arizona illegally, the smugglers are instructing the immigrants to find a border patrol agent and turn themselves in.

“They were told by smuggling organizations and the smugglers that all they have to do is jump over the wall or however they may cross, seek out an agent, and then they will be able to claim asylum that way,” explained Jose Garibay, a border patrol agent in Yuma recently told KTAR News.

The ACLU, immigration lawyers and other pro-migration groups say the migrant wave is driven by fear of crime more than by hope for jobs.
But the migration is organized by labor-trafficking cartels, supported by U.S. and foreign pro-migration groups, and funded by U.S. employers who hire low-wage illegals instead of working-class Americans.
The cartels’ labor-trafficking business is providing them with billions of dollars in revenue, partly because the catch-and-release process allows migrants to get work in the United States and pay off their debts. But that huge movement of cheap labor — at least 400,000 work-permits in 2017 — is clipping wages for blue-collar Americans, including many Democratic voters.
Amid Congress’ passivity, Attorney General Jeff Sessions has led Trump’s pushback. He has narrowed asylum rules, speeded courtroom proceedings, halved asylum approvals, and has won legal cases protecting the President’s right to detain and deport migrants.
But Congress has refused to help curb the economic migration. For example, in February, a tacit alliance of pro-migration Democrats and business-first Republicans in the Senate blocked Trump’s “Four Pillars” reforms. In August, business-first Republicans in the House — led by Oklahoma Rep. Kevin Yoder — pushed a bill that would dramatically expand the legal inflow of wage-cutting foreign workers.
Also, Senate Democrats — led by Sen. Tester — have rejected Trump’s request for funds to operate 52,000 detention beds and instead agreed to fund for only 40,520 detention beds. The House appropriations committee only approved funding for 44,000 beds, regardless of any intervention by Trump’s Hill liaison aides.
Tester’s Democrats and the GOP members on the Senate panel also blocked the hiring of additional agents to repatriate migrants who lose their asylum claims.
Senate Democrats, including Tester, McCaskill, Brown and Indian Sen. Joe Donnelly, are also pushing legislation that would tie the hand of border enforcement officers by barring the arrest and detention of migrants who bring children. Other Democrats want to give a free pass to migrants who say they are pregnant.
The clogged legal process means that few migrants are deported out of the U.S. job market, even though very few are approved for asylum. Breitbart News reported:
The data shows that 94,285 “family unit” migrants were registered as they crossed the border between October 1, 2016, and September 30, 2017. The data does not say how many of the migrants were adults, youths or children. Most family units are fragments. For example, they consist of a mother with younger children. The father often travels separately, sometimes with older children.
But only 252 migrants of the 94,285 migrants were quickly returned to their home country, and just 1,095 were formally “removed” after legal adjudication and deported home by the end of June 2018.
The meant 92,938 of the 2017 family migrants — or 98.6 percent — were still in the United States as of June 30, 2018, up to 21 months after they arrived.
Business groups are eager to downplay the rising migration levels. Any public dispute over illegal immigration damages their routine claim that the much-larger annual inflow of 1.1 million legal migrants helps investors and employers without imposing economic and civic harm on working Americans.
Establishment-media journalists cover the migration very sympathetically and rarely mention the damage done to Americans’ income, schools, rental costs, social solidarity, and neighborhoods.
Immigration also pulls investment and wealth away from heartland states because coastal investors can more easily hire and supervise the large immigrant populations living in the coastal states.
Just in time for the midterms, another "spontaneous" migration from Central America began with a bevy of allegedly oppressed and downtrodden Hondurans leading the way. Pressured by a threat from President Trump to cut aid to Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador if the caravan is not stopped, some moves by these governments have been made. Yet evidence exists that these migrations are not spontaneous, with both of the governments in question encouraging them as a political and economic safety valve and a source of foreign currency, financed in part by foreign leftists with connections to George Soros.
As Fox News's Laura Ingraham noticed in a tweet, this is not a walk in a national park, but an expensive and arduous journey:

Leftist billionaire George Soros is funding the well-organized anti-Trump migrant caravan invasion from Central America that has been hitting the United States-Mexico border in defiance of immigration enforcement.
Several major ultra-liberal foundations and corporations have supported the asylum-seeking migrant caravans, and Soros' funding has been tied to several groups that have spearheaded the "refugee" invasion coalition – also dubbed "the Soros Express."

The hands of the Honduran government are not clean in these efforts. Among the alleged asylum-seekers parked on the U.S. border is a contingent of Hondurans, allegedly fleeing persecution, poverty, crime, and oppression. If that is the case, why is the Honduran government helping them, driving them northward under orders given to the Honduran ambassador, who is helping and escorting them?
Leaders of a caravan of Central American migrants traveling toward the United States through Mexico have repeatedly accused the Honduran government of corruption and with failing to address the poverty, crime and economic conditions forcing families to flee by the thousands.
So it shocked some observers when the Honduran ambassador joined the migrants protesting outside the Honduran embassy in Mexico City on Wednesday, and then accepted their invitation to walk 9 miles to a migrant shelter.
"I have been ordered by my government to support the Honduran migrants traveling with the caravan. There are about 200 Hondurans who we will help out with paperwork and whatever is necessary," Alden Rivera Montes, the Honduran ambassador to Mexico, told El Universal.
Ordered by my government? Why is the country whose oppression they are allegedly fleeing helping them leave? The answer is remittances, the money sent back home by so-called "migrants." Asylum is in large part a colossal scam designed to provide Latin American countries with a political and economic safety valve and a cash cow of foreign exchange. In 2017, remittances sent back to Honduras totaled $4.33 billion and make up a significant part of the Honduran economy:
Within the span of a few short decades, migrants have become an essential engine of economic support for Honduras. Remittances comprised 17 percent of the nation's gross domestic product (GDP) in 2011, according to World Bank estimates, the second largest share of any country in Latin America or the Caribbean. As such, Honduran emigrants have tremendous significance for the country's economy and for the sustenance of many otherwise impoverished communities and families.
Talk about a trade imbalance. We import alleged asylum-seekers and other illegal aliens, and they send home billions sucked out of a benevolent U.S. government and economy. We have an economy that has some 7.3 million jobs going unfilled because of a shortage of skilled workers. Judging from photos of the latest caravan, one would suggest a paucity of welders, pipefitters, electricians, and long-haul truck-drivers.
Inner-city blacks have long asked which country they get to go to to escape violence and poverty. Although President Trump is succeeding in fighting crime and increasing job opportunities in our urban areas, much remains to be done. We do not need to be importing low-wage and low-skilled competitors to American citizens to drive down poor workers' wages. Inner-city residents have long asked, where's our sanctuary?
Unlike the children of Central America, arriving en masse, the children of Chicago, facing conditions every bit as horrible, have no border to cross to seek asylum or refuge[.] ...
"Do something for our children," said one of the protesters in a video posted at the blog Rebel Pundit. "Have the same love for these young people like you got for the ones across the border, and you want to save them." ...
A woman, identified only as Elaine, explained the plight of inner-city Baltimore residents on Laura Ingraham's radio show: "My children cannot play outside. I cannot take my trash out without locking the door – it's awful. Who is going to give us anything? Where can I get asylum? Where can I get refugee status?"
Where, indeed? Perhaps this side of a border wall Democrats oppose in favor of sanctuary cities and Medicare for illegal aliens. If any of the alleged asylum-seekers want to learn a trade – how about a crash course in border wall construction? Build it, and they won't come.

Nancy Pelosi Details Democrats’ Plan for Open Borders: ‘I Don’t See Any of Us Voting for Wall Funding’
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) says that if the Democrats take back the House in the 2018 midterm elections, none of them will vote for President Trump’s wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.
In an interview with Politico, Pelosi detailed her plans — or lack thereof — for the U.S.-Mexico border and national immigration policy, which does not include Trump’s proposed border wall.
“I don’t see any of us voting for wall funding,” Pelosi said.
“We have a responsibility to secure our borders,” Pelosi said. “There are ways to do that that are consistent with civilization, humanitarianism, and who we are as a nation. We have to remove all doubt about that.”
Pelosi’s hinting that Congress must “remove all doubt” that the U.S. is humane could come in the form of House and Senate Democrats’ plan to end all immigration enforcement across the nation, including the abolishment of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
As Trump said at a recent campaign rally, every Senate Democrat has signed onto Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s (D-CA) proposal that would abolish and end all immigration and border enforcement across the U.S., allowing the 12 to 30 million illegal aliens living in the country and all future illegal aliens to be free to travel back and forth across the hemisphere without enforcement or protections for Americans.
The Senate Democrat plan would also likely ban any and all federal arrests of illegal aliens. The legislation has earned the nickname, the “Child Trafficking Encouragement Act,” as it allows illegal alien smugglers to freely traffic children into the U.S. without the fear of arrest.

Democrat Sen. Sherrod Brown Urges Amnesty for Illegals with Jobs
The federal government should stop enforcing deportation laws against illegal migrants who have jobs, Ohio Democrat Sen. Sherrod Brown said in a campaign debate with his GOP opponent, former Rep. Jim Renacci.
Brown also demanded that taxpayers pay to repair the economic damage which is caused by the illegal migrant workforce which he — and many corporations — want to welcome into Americans’ jobs.
“Our immigration enforcement, our deportations, should be [for] people who have broken the law, people who have committed theft, who have committed physical crimes, people who have committed crimes generally,” Brown told his Ohio audience October 14.
“You don’t prioritize by going after and deporting people who are working hard, who are paying their taxes, who are active in their church, who are raising their families, who are doing things in our community … Why would we deport them?” he added, echoing the “Abolish ICE!” demand by progressives.
Brown also urged the federal government to accept the cartels’ strategy of using children to help smuggle migrants into U.S. jobs. The migrants’ children trigger the Flores catch-and-release loophole, so allowing the migrants to get through the border, get a job, and pay their smuggling debts to the cartels.
“Perhaps the most divisive thing in our society now is what our government did to rip these children from their families at the border,” Brown said. “The worst part of the immigration issue … is snatching children from their families on the border.”
In May, President Donald Trump adopted a policy of detaining migrants for trial while sheltering their children at residential-like facilities. Trump ended that policy but is debating whether to adopt a modified version of the policy.
GOP candidate Renacci told Brown that illegal immigration should be stopped, and the economy expanded so that wages can rise. Under Trump, “the economy is growing much faster than past economies … that’s more wage-earning ability … [and] wages are going up,” said Renacci.

Even as Brown urging a national amnesty for illegal-immigrant workers and their children, he also said taxpayers should pay to repair the damages caused by the mass illegal-immigration which he supports.
The flood of illegal migrants — up to 22 million nationwide — raises rents and real-estate prices, but Brown said housing is too expensive and the government should provide more cheap housing.
“People who are working hard, people who are playing by the rules, just don’t have enough money to afford a decent place to live,” Brown said. “This government is underfunding public housing, we are seeing far too many on a waiting list … Housing is life; When you don’t have clean affordable housing to live, everything else goes wrong.”
Renacci, however, said a growing economy raises wages. Bricklayers, welders, and others “make more money … [and] afford housing in Ohio,” he said.
The flood of cheap migrants into the U.S. labor market allows employers to push down wages and quit investing in wealth-creating, labor-saving machinery. But Brown said the federal government should impose a higher minimum wage and raise federal spending to offset the damage to Americans’ wages. “We need to invest in good jobs, we need to invest in our cities.”
Brown denounced the U.S.-Mexico NAFTA deal, saying “one of my first votes was against the NAFTA treaty.” But his amnesty would allow Mexican factory workers to take jobs in Ohio factories.
Brown said he voted against putting Judge Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court “because he and his record in the sitting Supreme Court [will] put their thumb on the justice scale to support large corporations and outsourcing jobs.” But Brown’s support for an amnesty of migrant workers is strongly backed by many corporations who want to outsource Americans’ jobs to cheap migrant workers and also to sell more goods to more immigrants.
“When you love your country, you fight for the people who make it work,” Brown said. But Brown’s support for easy migration has shifted his solidarity away from his fellow American citizens — healthy or sick, clever or not — towards anyone in a diverse, fragmented society who helps “make it work.”
Brown’s support for job outsourcing via cheap-labor migration is intensely unpopular among voters — although it is very popular among the business groups which supply much of the GOP’s donations.
Business groups and Democrats tout polls which prod Americans to declare support for migrants or the claim that the United States is a “Nation of Immigrants.”
Immigration also pulls investment and wealth away from heartland states because investment flows towards the large immigrant populations living in the coastal states.
