TRUMP'S LIE OF THE DAY: LIKE HIS PRETEND WALL, TRUMP SAYS HE IS DEPORTING MILLIONS OF PELOSI'S DEM VOTING ILLEGALS!

Trump announces ICE to begin removing millions of illegal aliens

I think that it is no coincidence that the night before he kicks off his re-election campaign in Orlando (in front of a crowd of 20,000 with many thousands more gathered outside), President Trump announced that “millions” of illegal aliens are starting to be deported by ICE.
He did so on Twitter, while simultaneously noting that Mexico and Guatemala are implementing or about to implement measures that will diminish the flow of third country nationals transiting Mexico.
In other words: stanch the new flow while expelling those already here illegally. Even before the border wall is completed.
Delivering on his key promise of 2016.

This positions Trump as being effective even without Congress cooperating with legal changes and more border wall funding.
I also expect that he anticipates one or more federal judges will seek to halt ICE deportations. My sense is that he wants a case on which he can challenge the validity of 50-state injunctions being issued by one federal judge. Deportations of people here illegally maybe the test case he wants.

Media Hide Subsidies for Alien Grads in OPT Articles

Washington, D.C. (June 18, 2019) -  The
Center for Immigration Studies finds that
two big newspapers, the New York
Times and the San Jose Mercury, recently
published articles on the controversial
Optional Practical Training (OPT) program
for foreign grads of U.S. universities
without mentioning the truth about the
program — America's elderly and sick in
effect pay $2 billion a year to employers
who hire alien grads through OPT rather
than American ones.

David North, fellow at the Center and the author of the piece, said, "Neither article mentioned the approximately 8 percent tax break that employers of foreign grads, but not of American grads, get under OPT. The program's dirty little secret is that it is subsidizing employers who choose to hire alien grads rather than American ones."

The New York Times article on Monday dealt with a slowdown within the Department of Homeland Security in the issuance of work permits for the foreign alumni bore this awkward headline: "Visa Delays at Backlogged Immigration Service Strand International Students".

The Times article focused on the new delays in the issuance of work permits for these jobs, which, indirectly, caused the loss of some of those jobs, and on an interesting set of "victims", all of whom are former or current students at Ivy League universities. This gives a lopsided view of the program that routinely provides subsidized jobs to more than 200,000 alumni of less highly regarded institutions.

For instance, one would not know from reading any of the rare media coverage of this program that OPT alumni have been hired, in subsidized jobs, as construction laborers.

Meanwhile, The San Jose Mercury News reported on an important event in the migration business -  Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) will soon be introducing a bill terminating the OPT program; he has also written to the president urging him to end the program (which has no legislative basis) by issuing an executive order.

Gosar is aware of the subsidies in the program, and is opposed to them. The first report on his legislative proposal came from Bloomberg News, which also noted the subsidy element in OPT, but the Mercury-News account failed to mention the tax break.

That these trust funds are, in effect, sending money to employers who would rather hire alien graduates than American ones, remains, for all practical purposes, a dirty little secret.

President Donald Trump revealed late Tuesday U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will initiate removal proceedings for millions of foreign nationals deemed illegally present in the United States.

“Next week ICE will begin the process of removing the millions of illegal aliens who have illicitly found their way into the United States,” the president announced late Tuesday. “They will be removed as fast as they come in.”

Next week ICE will begin the process of removing the millions of illegal aliens who have illicitly found their way into the United States. They will be removed as fast as they come in. Mexico, using their strong immigration laws, is doing a very good job of stopping people.......

“Mexico, using their strong immigration laws, is doing a very good job of stopping people long before they get to our Southern Border,” Trump continued. “Guatemala is getting ready to sign a Safe-Third Agreement. The only ones who won’t do anything are the Democrats in Congress. They must vote to get rid of the loopholes, and fix asylum! If so, Border Crisis will end quickly!”
The announcement came hours after U.S. State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus announced the U.S. would be cutting aid to the three central American countries massively contributing to the influx of migrants crossing the U.S. southern border. The cuts have been eased since they were first announced.
Instead of cutting more than $615 million in aid to Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador, the U.S. will cut just $432 million in previously approved projects and grants.
