Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tells illegal alien kids 'this country belongs to you'
In the "squad" response to President Trump over his tweets to them about their anti-Americanism, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had a doozy of a response. She declared that the U.S. "belongs" to "everyone," including illegal aliens. She couched it all in the smarmy language of addressing all the children of America. Here's a short clip:
Rep. @AOC: "The first note that I want to tell children across this country is that no matter what the president says, this country belongs to you. And it belongs to everyone."
CBS News has a longer clip, which leads in with Ocasio-Cortez lamenting border detentions of illegally crossing kids, leaving zero doubt that it's illegals she is addressing in her syrupy statement.
It was an astonishing statement to make, effectively indoctrinating illegal alien children into thinking the U.S. somehow "belongs" to them, same as it belongs to the citizens of the country. She used an example from her childhood about how her father told her the capital "belonged" to her — a nonsensical, if understandable, statement a parent might tell a child, into extending such a declaration to anyone within U.S. borders. "It belongs to everyone," she insisted. And make no mistake: it was illegals she was talking about. At about the 2:37 mark in the CBS clip, she says she's "not surprised" that President Trump told the squad to "go back to their country" because Trump "has authorized raids, without warrants, on thousands of families across this country."
She was referring to illegal aliens who have passed through all due legal process and have ignored legal orders to leave the country.
Now it belongs to them? A statement like this effectively renounces any value of U.S. citizenship in the U.S. republic, in favor of just being here as entitling one to the right to own everything in it. And it's telling that she's using the kids as her wedge for arguing that all illegals are free to stay here as the actual owners of the U.S., with as much claim to its bounty as actual citizens.
Ocasio-Cortez alters between treacle and umbrage in her statement, attempting to seize the high ground for the cameras. Yet what she's just declared is yet another bottom dropping out as she advances her "narrative." That not only do illegals have a right to be here — alongside terrorists and anti-Americans — they actually are entitled to everything the U.S. has.
This is the statement of someone who doesn't want the U.S. to exist. She's like a top spinning out of control. No wonder Nancy Pelosi has her hands full. Ocasio-Cortez is a walking campaign ad for the Trump re-election effort.

Texas Port of Entry Shut Down Over Threatened Migrant Rush

Federal authorities shut down one of the international ports of entry in the border city of Del Rio, Texas, over the threat of a group of migrants trying to rush the border and enter the country by force.
The incident took place at the Ciudad Acuna-Del Rio Port of Entry when over 50 officers with U.S. Customs and Border Protection applied a series of security protocols to temporarily shut down vehicular traffic into Texas. According to the local radio station Rancherita Del Aire, CBP officers used heavy machinery to set up a series of concrete and metal barricades as well as barbed wire in an attempt to dissuade any migrants from rushing the border.
The concerns began on Monday evening after a series of social media messages began to spread the rumor that migrants waiting at the bridge for their turn to reach Texas and claim asylum would make a run for it, the local radio station reported.
“CBP officers, assisted by Border Patrol agents and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, temporarily reduced traffic at Del Rio International Bridge to one lane in either direction beginning at about 9:05 a.m. today following a demonstration in Ciudad Acuña, Mexico by more than 350 people in a park near the international bridge,” a CBP official said in a written statement. “Full normal traffic flow in both directions resumed at approximately 12:16 p.m.”
Washington, D.C. (July 16, 2019) – A new analysis of government data from the Center for Immigration Studies shows that immigration between 1990 and 2017 added nearly 43 million people to the population — including both immigrants and their progeny. However, it had a minimal impact on the share of the population that is of working age. This is because immigration added to both the working-age population and to those outside of the working-age population in nearly equal proportions. The analysis also finds that post-1990 immigration has had a somewhat larger impact on the ratio of workers to retirees. However, raising the retirement age by one year has as large an impact on the ratio as do the nearly 43 million post-1990.
Steven Camarota, the Center's director of research and co-author of the report, said, “Looking at the large and relatively young population of post-1990 immigrants and their progeny is a good test of the often cited argument that immigration can solve the problem of America getting older. However, this analysis demonstrates something researchers have long known: Immigration can add a lot of people to the population – but it is no fix for an aging society.”
In 2017, there were 30.8 million post-1990 immigrants (legal and illegal) and 12 million of their U.S.-born children and grandchildren in the country — 42.8 million in total, or one in eight U.S. residents.
While adding significantly to the population, the presence of post-1990 immigrants and their progeny only increased the working-age (16-64) share of the population from 63.9 percent to 64.4 percent.
The working-age share can be seen as the best way to think about the ability of society to pay for government or support the economy, as both children and the elderly generally do not work and are supported by the labor of others.
Immigration had a small impact on the working-age share because immigrants arrive at all ages, grow older over time, and have children, so they added to both the working-age and those too old or too young to work in nearly equal proportions.
Even if the number of post-1990 immigrants and their offspring were doubled to almost 86 million—about one in four residents—it would still only have raised the working-age share to 64.8 percent — 0.9 percentage points higher than if there had been no immigration.
Excluding children, and looking only at the number of working-age people (16-64) relative to those of retirement age shows that post 1990-immigration increased the ratio from 3.7 potential workers per potential retiree to 4.1.
If the retirement age was raised by just one year, assuming no immigration, the ratio of workers to retirees would be 4.1, matching the effect of post-1990 immigration.
Increasing the retirement age by two years it would have increased the worker to retiree ratio to 4.5 in 2017, significantly more than the 43 million post-1990 immigrants and their children.
While this analysis is focused on all immigrants (legal and illegal), we roughly estimate that 32 percent (13.8 million) of the people immigration has added to the country since 1990 are illegal immigrants or their progeny. Since legal and illegal immigration together have a modest impact on the working-age share or the worker-to-retiree ratio, the impact of illegal immigration by itself is very small.
In terms of using immigration as a way to pay for entitlement programs, it must also be pointed out that a large share of post-1990 immigrants and their children struggle, living in or near poverty and using welfare programs at relatively high rates, makes it difficult for them to generate a fiscal surplus to pay for social insurance programs.
In 2017, 45 percent of households headed by post-1990 immigrants or their adult children used one or more major welfare programs, compared to 26 percent of native-headed households. The rates of poverty or near poverty for post-1990 immigrants and their children were 50 to 60 percent higher than that of natives.

Protesters outside a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Aurora, Colorado, on Friday removed an American flag from its flagpole and replaced it with the Mexican flag.
Reports said they also removed a Blue Lives Matter flag and spraypainted the words “Abolish ICE” on it, then hung it upside down next to the Mexican flag.
Officials restored the American and Colorado state flag to their place on Friday evening once the crowd had dispersed.
Reports state that hundreds of people gathered outside the facility where illegal immigrants are housed to protest the ICE raids scheduled to begin on Sunday.
“The majority of protesters on site were doing so in a peaceful and law-abiding manner,” the Denver Postreported.
One of the groups hosting the “March to Close the Concentration Camps” event at the facility was the International Socialist Collective of Boulder, the event Facebook pagestates.
The socialist group also posted an event flyer to their own Facebook page that is a call to action for protesters.
It reads:
Tens of thousands of refugees/asylum seekers – babies, toddlers, children, and adults – are being brutalized in concentration camps across the US. People of good conscience must come together to stop the dehumanization and abuse of all who are being held in these horrific conditions. Join us as we hold all elected officials responsible for the continued mistreatment of asylum seekers and the separation of families.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who is a self-described Democratic-socialist, also continues to describe the holding facilities as “concentration camps.”
However, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center, Yad Vashem, refuted her claims in a tweet on June 19.
“@AOC Concentration camps assured a slave labor supply to help in the Nazi war effort, even as the brutality of life inside the camps helped assure the ultimate goal of ‘extermination through labor,” they wrote.
President Trump said on June 22 that he would delay the ICE raids for two weeks in an effort to give Democrats and Republicans more time to find solutions to the immigration problem.

Immigration: Mexico's government gloated triumphantly after a federal judge's injunction blocked Arizona's immigration law. But it's no victory for Mexico. In fact, Mexico's leaders ought to be mortified.
As radical immigration activists crowed with glee and the Obama administration claimed victory, Mexico's government joined the applause.
Calling Judge Susan Bolton's injunction Wednesday "a step in the right direction," Mexican Foreign Minister Patricia Espinosa declared: "The government of Mexico would like to express its recognition for the determination demonstrated by the federal government of the United States and the actions of the civil organizations that organized lawsuits against the SB 1070 law."
In reality, it ought to be ashamed. Supposedly framed as an issue of federal power pre-empting state power, it's hardly Mexico's business. But Mexico made a big show of saying its interest was in protecting its nationals from the dreadful racism of Arizona that its own citizens, curiously enough, keep fleeing to.
Espinosa said her government was busy collecting data on civil rights violations and her department had issued an all-out travel warning to Mexican nationals about Arizona.
That's where Mexico's hypocrisy is just too much.
First, Mexico encourages illegal immigration to the U.S. Oh, it says it doesn't, but it prints comic book guides for would-be illegal immigrants and provides ID cards for illegals once they get here. In Arizona alone, Mexico keeps five consulates busy.
That's not out of love for its own citizens, but because Mexicans send cash back to Mexico that helps finance the government.
Instead of selling its wasteful state-owned oil company or getting rid of red tape to create jobs in Mexico, Mexico spends the hard currency from remittances. It fails to look at why its citizens leave.
According to the Heritage Foundation-Wall Street Journal 2010 Index of Economic Freedom, Mexico's big problem is — no shock — government corruption, where it ranks below the world average.
That's where Mexico's cartels come in.
Mexico's encouragement of illegal immigration undercuts its valiant war against its smuggling cartels. The cartels' prowess and firepower have made them the only ones who can smuggle effectively across the border. U.S. law enforcers say they now control human-smuggling on our southern border.
Feed them immigrants and they grow more cash-rich — and right now, immigrant smuggling is about a third of the cartels' income.
Mass graves and car bombings are signs of criminal organizations getting bigger, and more powerful. Juarez, which has lost 5,000 people this year, bleeds because cartels fight over not just who gets the drug routes, but who gets the illegal-immigrant smuggling routes, too.
Aside from the cartel mayhem in Mexico, the bodies are piling up in the Arizona desert and U.S. Border Patrol rescues of abandoned illegals left to die have risen.
It's not the desert's fault, and it's certainly not Uncle Sam's fault, as activists claim. No, it's the fact that Mexicans are encouraged to emigrate. Criminal cartels don't fear abandoning their human cargo in the desert, as long as Mexico does nothing and blames Uncle Sam.
Hearing Mexico's government now cheer the Arizona ruling, which will only encourage more illegal immigration, gives the country's regime a pretty inhuman face.
If Mexico had any decency, it would do all it could to discourage illegal immigration and keep a respectful silence about Arizona.
It needs U.S. support for its war on cartels. Instead of insulting American citizens, Mexico should confront directly the reasons why its people are so desperate to leave, and do all in its power to destroy the cartels that are slowly killing the nation. That includes defunding the murderous gangs by halting illegal immigration.

California: 22 MS-13 Gang Members Charged with Brutal Machete Murders

Twenty-two members of the violent El Salvadorian MS-13 Gang in Los Angeles, California have been charged with a string of gruesome murders, often involving members allegedly hacking their victims to death with machetes.
On Tuesday, 22 MS-13 Gang members in the Los Angeles area were charged with murdering seven individuals over the last two years, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced. The murders, prosecutors say, usually involved MS-13 Gang members brutally murdering their victims using machetes and other “medieval-style” tactics.
For example, the indictment states that in one murder, six of the MS-13 Gang members charged kidnapped, choked, and attacked a rival gang member with a machete. The victim had his body parts dismembered and thrown into a canyon. One MS-13 Gang member used his machete to cut the victims’ heart out of his chest.

The investigation primarily focused on the Fulton clique, operating in the San Fernando Valley, of the Los Angeles-based MS-13 Gang. Thanks to growing levels of illegal immigration at the U.S.-Mexico border, prosecutors say the clique was gifted with a steady stream of vulnerable, young Central American boys who were eager to become members of the gang. Their initiation to join MS-13 is to murder an individual who is “perceived to be adverse” to the gang.
In other alleged murders detailed in the 78-page indictment, a group of MS-13 Gang members hacked a victim to death with knives and a machete on June 4, 2017. A few months prior, another group of MS-13 Gang members allegedly hacked a victim to death with a machete in the Angeles National Forest.
“Taking violent offenders off the street should send a message to MS-13 members and their associates that medieval-style violence and senseless murder will not be tolerated in Los Angeles,” Paul Delacourt of the FBI Los Angeles office said in a statement. “Working with our local partners, we expect to impact MS-13’s influence in gang-occupied communities.”
The MS-13 Gang, originally from El Salvador, is primarily made up of illegal aliens, Unaccompanied Alien Children (UACs), and newly arrived immigrants living in the U.S. Today, the gang operates largely in Los Angeles, New York, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., but conducts gang activities and drug distribution across at least 40 states, and has at least 10,000 members in the country.
Investigations by the Justice Department have revealed that MS-13 Gang leaders in El Salvador have sent recruits and members to the U.S. illegally, often posing as UACs, to help strengthen ranks within the gang.

The Department of Homeland Security has released its report on quarterly numbers of ICE detainers that were issued and ignored by California sanctuary cities between January 1 and March 31 of last year. Detainers are requests made by ICE and ask local law enforcement to hold violent criminal aliens until they can be properly transferred to federal custody. Hundreds were ignored, releasing dangerous individuals onto American streets.
"The report will highlight cases where ICE issued a detainer, the detainer was declined, and the alien subsequently committed a crime after being released from state or local custody. Because ICE is often not alerted by uncooperative jurisdictions when a detainer has been declined, and because ICE may only learn of the detainer having been declined after an alien is arrested for a subsequent offense, the cases contained in this report are examples of a broader public safety issue and are not exhaustive," the report summary states.
"Cooperation between ICE and state and local law enforcement agencies is critical to the effort to identify and arrest removable aliens and defend the nation’s security," it continues. "Every day, ICE places detainers on individuals who the agency has probable cause to believe are aliens who are removable from the United States and are currently in federal, state, and local law enforcement agency custody."
Many of the criminal aliens who were released went on to commit additional felony crimes like driving under the influence, domestic violence, armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and more.
A 32-year-old citizen of Mexico, who was previously removed by ICE on June 3, 2009, was arrested on December 28, 2017, by the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office for Shoplifting, and booked into the Monterey County Jail. On December 29, 2017, ICE issued a detainer, but the detainer was not honored, and he was released. On February 25, 2018, he was again arrested for Burglary and Possession of Unlawful Paraphernalia and booked into the Monterey County Jail. On February 26, 2018, ICE issued a detainer, but it was not honored, and he was released. On November 26, 2018, he was again arrested for Inflict Corporal Injury on Spouse, Violation of Probation, and Shoplifting, and booked into the Monterey County Jail. On November 27, 2018, ICE issued a detainer, but as of the writing of this report, believes the alien has been released and remains at large.
A 38-year-old citizen of Mexico was arrested on January 17, 2018, by the Los Angeles County Sheriff for Battery on Spouse/Ex-spouse/Date/etc. On January 17, 2018, ICE issued a detainer, but the detainer was not honored, and he was released. On April 14, 2018, he was again arrested by the Los Angeles County Sheriff for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs and booked into the Los Angeles County Jail. On April 14, 2018, ICE issued a detainer, but the detainer was not honored and, as of the writing of this report, believes the alien has been released and remains at large.
A 23-year-old citizen of Mexico was arrested on March 29, 2018 by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office for Inflicting Corporal Injury on a Spouse and booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail. On March 29, 2018, ICE issued a detainer, but the detainer was not honored, and he was released. On April 11, 2018, he was again arrested for Inflicting Corporal Injury on a Spouse and booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail. On April 11, 2018, ICE issued a detainer, but the detainer was not honored, and he was released. On January 16, 2019, he was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Assault with a Deadly Weapon and booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail. On January 16, 2019, ICE issued a detainer, but as of the writing of this report, believes the alien has been released and remains at large.
Meanwhile, Democrats in Congress continue to call for the elimination of ICE.
