Last weekend, at least 20 people were shot and wounded in Chicago and 8 people were shot and killed, reported the Chicago Sun-Times. The total number of people killed in Chicago so far this year (through Oct. 13) totals 413. At least 240 of those victims were felled by gun violence, according to the Chicago Tribune
On Saturday, Oct. 12, a gunman went into his neighbor's condominium on the Northwest Side of Chicago and fatally shot three men and a woman who were eating dinner, reported the Sun-Times
“For reasons we yet don’t know, he opened fire on all four of those individuals, killing them all,” said one police officer.
The gunman then went to another condo unit where he shot a woman. She died the next day.
In another case, "Terry Gardener Jr., 27, was shot in the chest at 2:18 a.m. in the 8400 block of South Kenneth Avenue, according to police," as reported by the Sun-Times.  
"Witnesses told investigators a vehicle with two males inside drove up and at least one of the occupants fired shots at him," the newspaper reported. "A family member drove the man to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead."

Another man was killed and a woman wounded Saturday night on the South Side. The couple wa sitting in a car when gunment approached and fired. The man was shot in the head and died at the scene. 
Twenty-three-year-old Emell Hill was gunned down on the South Side, also on Saturday evening. He died at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
A 3-year-old boy was wounded while sitting in a parked car with his mother on the South Side. The child was shot in the head and is in critical condition. 
A 26-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy were walking west on 87th Street on Saturday when someone shot them from behind. "The boy was struck multiple times in the chest and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition," said the Sun-Times. "The man was struck in the buttock and was taken to the same hospital in good condition."
In another incident, a "22-year-old was riding in a vehicle about 1:51 a.m. in the 1700 block of West 51st Street when a male walking nearby shot her," reported the Sun-Times.
According to the Chicago Tribune, "the majority of the victims of homicide in Chicago are young, black men." For instance, in the last 365 days, 286 homicide victims in Chicago were black/not hispanic; the race of 193 other victims was "not known" and 36 victims were "white/not hispanic." Five victims were Hispanic and 2 Asian.
