You’ll recall that Judicial Watch is representing the Arizona State Legislature (as well as the law’s author Arizona State Senate President Russell Pearce) in defense of SB 1070 — Arizona’s tough illegal immigration enforcement law — against the Obama administration’s legal attack.
Well, a federal court just ruled yesterday that our client, the Arizona State Legislature, is permitted to enter the case as a defendant — meaning that Judicial Watch’s lawyers will now be doing battle in court directly against the Obama administration on behalf of the entire Arizona State Legislature.
This is huge. Not just for the citizens of Arizona, but for all of us.
Defending SB 1070 on behalf of the Arizona State Legislature may well be the most important piece of litigation Judicial Watch has ever undertaken.
In fact, it may be the most important piece of litigation ever undertaken in defense of our nation’s immigration laws, period!
The way I see it, it comes down to a fight between those who want to enforce federal immigration laws and those who do not.
The Obama administration wants to kill this law because it doesn’t want to bear its constitutional responsibility to secure the border, enforce our nation’s immigration laws and protect the citizens of Arizona from the illegal alien invasion.
You should know that the Obama administration opposed our client’s efforts to protect the very law it passed in federal court. We’re thankful that the court will give the Arizona State Legislature a chance to defend its “baby” in federal court.

Now the really heavy lifting is in front of us.

And then there are the Obama “stealth” amnesty plans to bypass Congress by simply stopping the enforcement of the laws against illegal immigration.
All of this is a crisis for the rule of law.
We need everyone to stand shoulder to shoulder because Arizona’s SB 1070 is under attack not only from the Obama administration, but also from its radical leftist allies like La Raza and the ACLU, as well as the thoroughly corrupt Mexican government.
And so it’s going to be expensive and time-consuming. This will be a long court battle against Obama Justice Department lawyers — who have a bottomless taxpayer-funded budget.
