Which is more heinous:
1) To form a kidnapping squad and abduct people for ransom?
2) Or to take part in an enraged mob that catches the kidnappers and burns them alive?
It’s a question with some immediacy in San Mateo Huitzilzingo, a village in the state of Mexico near the capital. According to police, some 600 villagers surrounded three suspected kidnappers there Friday night as they tried to abduct two area high school students. The crowd was drawn when several women yelled, "Justice! Justice! They're kidnappers!" Several rang church bells to draw a crowd.
Enraged, the crowd beat the suspected kidnappers with sticks and stones, shoved them inside a vehicle and set it on fire. Two died immediately, and a third died in a hospital later on.
Authorities said they arrested 23 villagers for taking part in the lynching
