Most Americans are disappointed in Obama's
presidency and concerned about the direction the US is heading

A new poll has
some worrying news for President Barack Obama - most Americans are fed up with
his leadership. Many are also deeply worried about the direction in which the
country is heading.
The CBS News/New York Times survey revealed on Wednesday
that 59 percent of people polled were disappointed in Obama, and 37 percent
said they are very disappointed.
While 40
percent of Americans claimed to be satisfied with the president, only 10
percent are 'very satisfied' with Obama's performance so far.

The poll also
shows that the president's overall approval rating has dropped since January.
While 46 percent of those asked were happy with him last month, this has
dropped to 41 percent now.
From Obama's
point of view, at least this is higher than the 37 percent approval rating he
was getting in November 2013.

According to
the survey, only 39 percent approve of the president's handling of foreign
policy, and 38 percent agree with the way he has run the education of America's
children.
But the
president is certainly not the only unpopular politician around. CBS News
states that a staggering 79 percent of people are unhappy with the way things
are going in Washington DC.

The poll states
that 80 percent of people disapprove of Congress and The New York Times reported that Republican John
Boehner is even less liked than the president.
House Speaker
Boehner had an incredibly low approval rating in this latest poll of just 26
percent.
The tide seems
to be turning in favor of same sex marriage. Now 56 percent of those polled
support it, one point up from last summer, but a huge swing from 42 percent
support in spring 2012.
Yet the results
must be a concern for the Democrats as they show the Republicans in a
relatively strong position.
The results
show that 63 percent of Americans think the country is on the wrong track. And
a huge 57 percent disapprove of Obama' s presidency in another vital area - how
he has run the economy.
The poll was
conducted across the US between February 19 to 23 by landline and cellphone
among 1,644 adults.
