University of California president proposes new fee hikes

On Thursday, University of California President Janet Napolitano announced that she would propose a five-year tuition hike of up to 5 percent per year to the UC Board of Regents at their planned meeting this month. The proposal, which is expected to pass, could bring in-state tuition up to $15,564 per year and out-of-state tuition to $44,756 by the 2019-2020 academic year—amounting to more than a 20 percent increase in tuition fees.

California must stem
the flow of illegal immigrants
The
state should go after employers who hire them, curb taxpayer-funded benefits,
deploy the National Guard to help the feds at the border and penalize
'sanctuary' cities.
“Illegal immigration is
another matter entirely. With the state budget in tatters, millions of
residents out of work and a state prison system strained by massive
overcrowding, California simply cannot continue to ignore the strain that
illegal immigration puts on our budget and economy. Illegal aliens cost
taxpayers in our state billions of dollars each year. As economist Philip J. Romero concluded in a 2007 study, "illegal
immigrants impose a 'tax' on legal California residents in the tens of billions
of dollars."

found that “between the first quarter of 2000 and the first quarter of 2013,
the native-born population accounted for two-thirds of overall growth in the
working-age population (16 to 65), but none of the net growth in employment
among the working-age has gone to natives.”
