Hercules Actor Kevin Sorbo: Hollywood, Media Ignoring ‘The Crime of the Century’

(CNSNews.com) – Although the news media and Hollywood relish telling stories about horrific crimes and serial killers, they are strangely silent about Dr. Kermit Gosnell, an abortionist who killed living, viable babies by snipping their spinal cords with scissors, and who is “America’s most prolific serial killer,” said actor Kevin Sorbo and his wife Sam Jenkins in a video to promote funding for a movie about Gosnell.
“Kermit Gosnell is America’s most prolific serial killer,” says Kevin Sorbo, who starred in the TV series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. “For more than three decades he was an abortion doctor in Philadelphia, where he delivered live, viable babies, who cried and fought for their life before he murdered them by severing their spinal cords with a scissors. He called it snipping. It’s the crime of the century, but most of the media and Hollywood have ignored the story.”
Sorbo’s wife, Sam Jenkins, also an actor, says, “Hollywood loves serial killers. TV and movies are full of these stories, the scarier the better would seem to be the motto. CSI, Criminal Minds, Person of Interest, The Black List, The Following, Law & Order, and CIS, Dexter, and many movies follow suit.”
“Even our national and local news is dominated by the crimes committed every day in our society,” she says. “So, it’s very odd that America’s biggest serial killer has been virtually ignored, erased from history. … We need to confront and expose this story. Why did so many people do nothing for so long? Why, when Gosnell was prosecuted, did the media ignore it? Why does Hollywood want to ignore it?”
Both Sorbo and Jenkins call upon viewers to donate to gosnellmovie.com, a proposed documentary on Gosnell by filmmakers Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney, who are running a crowd-funding campaign to raise money for the movie through the online platform indiegogo.

As CNSNews.com reported last spring, Kermit Gosnell ran a multi-million dollar abortion business in West Philadelphia. In a grand jury report and in court testimony, it was revealed that Gosnell had regularly delivered living, viable babies and then killed them by snipping their spinal cords with scissors.
One office worker who viewed the snippings, according to the grand jury report, said that with one large baby Gosnell joked, “This baby is big enough to walk around with me or walk me to the bus stop.” Another worker testified to that incident and revealed she personally had “snipped” the spinal cords of at least 10 babies after they were delivered, as Gosnell reportedly had instructed.
Although records of many of his abortions over the years apparently were missing or destroyed, Gosnell was initially charged with eight counts of murder, 24 counts of illegal abortions past the 24-week limit, and 227 misdemeanor counts. He was convicted by a jury in May 2013 on three counts of murder, one count of involuntary manslaughter, 21 counts of performing abortions after 24 weeks, and numerous other conspiracy charges and infanticide.
In one of the murder convictions, “Baby C,” the court proved the child had been “moving and breathing for 20 minutes” before its neck was snipped. In another murder conviction, “Baby D” had been born alive in a toilet, “swimming” and trying to get out.
Gosnell was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on May 14, 2013.
In the grand jury report from January 2011, it states, “Gosnell had a simple solution for the unwanted babies he delivered: he killed them. … Over the years, there were hundreds of ‘snippings.’ Sometimes, if Gosnell was unavailable, the ‘snipping’ was done by one of his fake doctors, or even by one of the administrative staff. But all the employees of the Women’s Medical Society knew. Everyone there acted as if it wasn’t murder at all.”
“Most of these acts cannot be prosecuted, because Gosnell destroyed the files,” reads the grand jury report. (See Gosnell, Grand Jury Report.pdf)

The report further states, “Although no one could place an exact number on the instances, Gosnell’s stafftestified that killing large, late-term babies who had been observed breathing and moving was a regular occurrence.”
In the video, Kevin Sorbo says “this is a story that needs to be told” and “if the media won’t do their job, then we can do it ourselves. We can and we must. During the 30 years of Gosnell’s killing spree, many people knew what was going on and did nothing. It’s almost impossible to believe but it’s true.”
“This story has had almost no media coverage because the media are so agenda-driven, they don’t want to report on it,” Sorbo says. “But it’s a story that needs to be told. But for reasons you can probably guess, it has thus far been ignored. No one wants to talk about it because the details are too damaging to certain political agendas.”
Sorbo starred in the TV series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys from 1995 to 1999. He also starred in the series Andromeda (2000-2005), the movie Soul Surfer, and has made guest appearances in Psych, The O.C., and Two and a Half Men.
Sam Jenkins acted in the film The Bonfire of the Vanities, and has appeared in numerous TV programs, such as JAG, Chicago Hope, and Avenging Angel. She also co-hosts Flashpoint Live, a news-talk radio program sponsored by the Talk Radio Network. She and Kevin Sorbo have three children.
