IS MARK KRIKORIAN UNDER ATTACK BY THE PRO-OPEN BORDERS LA RAZA FASCIST BASE OF THE DEMOCRAT PARTY?

Will No One Rid Me of These Turbulent Immigration Restrictionists?

By Mark Krikorian

CIS Blog, May 26, 2017

Excerpt: This was my first thought when I read the Southern Poverty Law Center's latest screed attacking my organization, the Center for Immigration Studies. But rather than simply counting the Ks in my name, the SPLC's Inspector Javerts spent what must have been weeks combing through hundreds of weekly CIS roundups of immigration-related commentary from all sides. Then they researched the hundreds of columnists and bloggers whose pieces had been included — investigating their personal lives and statements in other articles — in order to find objectionable material (some of it anti-Semitic), which we are then somehow responsible for. This is proof that we're a "hate group."

Interestingly, the SPLC didn't do a similar background check on all the pro-amnesty, open-borders authors who were also linked. For instance, our most recent email included a New York Timeslove to see what he's said elsewhere), a piece from the New York Daily News by some lefty politicians, and other pieces from Cato, Reason, and The Intercept.

Not that it matters, since the roundup — the opinion counterpart to a roundup of academic journal articles, government reports, and the like — is an educational exercise intended to present the range of commentary on immigration. There's a lot on Vdare.com, for instance that I don't like (inclusion of their links was the first thing the SPLC gumshoes sputtered about), but it publishes on immigration all the time and to exclude them because the Ministry of Truth disapproves would be to offer a false picture to readers.

ICE arrested 190 immigrants in Southern California “public safety” operation
By Genevieve Leigh
30 May 2017
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested nearly 190 people across Southern California in a five-day operation covering six counties last week.
ICE officials boasted that 90 percent—169 of
the 188 people—of those arrested had prior
criminal convictions. Among the detained
immigrants, there were 15 people convicted of
“sex crimes,” including one man convicted of
rape, and a previously deported cocaine
trafficker. The latter two stories have been promoted by ICE officials and media outlets to push the narrative that the operation was conducted to remove “public safety threats.”
The field office director for Enforcement and Removal Operations for ICE in Los Angeles, David Marin, commented on the operation in an interview with the Daily Breeze: “It’s a win for us, and now we’ve taken these convicted criminals off the streets so they can’t re-offend, they can’t make more victims and, ultimately, our goal is to remove them from the country,” later adding, “they weren’t people who just had traffic tickets or speeding violations.”

In this case, of the 188 immigrants detained in last week’s sweep, the most common offense was for “drug offenses,” which included 43 people.

While a more detailed analysis of the criminal records is not provided by ICE documents, this category can include very minor offenses such as possession of small quantities of drugs like marijuana. The second most common offense, 30 of the cases, was driving under the influence (DUI). Three people were arrested for reentering the United States after being deported once already, and 19 were arrested despite having no criminal record whatsoever.
ICE raids have spiked significantly since the signing of Trump’s executive orders on immigration in January. Immigrant apprehensions have increased by nearly 40 percent compared to the same period last year. The same ICE forces responsible for last week’s raids in Southern California conducted a similar campaign in February that netted 161 arrests. Official statements by local Los Angeles ICE agents indicate that more such sweeps are still to come this year.
These raids have a particular significance in the Southern California region, which is home to the largest cluster of people living in the country without proper documentation. About 1.4 million undocumented immigrants live in the area between Los Angeles and the US-Mexico border.

L.A. Mayor Worries Trump

Immigration Crackdown Will

Incite Riots: ‘I Fear a

Tinderbox Out There’

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti fears that President Donald Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration may cause Los Angeles to erupt in riots.
On Friday’s NPR’s “Latino USA” podcast, Garcetti said it is dangerous when “ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] calls themselves police,” adding that “it’s bad for ICE and it’s bad for LAPD” because “people open that door expecting to see LAPD.” He said “if something goes wrong” when ICE agents try to deport illegal immigrants, “I fear a tinderbox out there, where people will suddenly say no and try to defend… keep that person from being taken. That’s a very dangerous situation.”
“We just commemorated 25 years since the urban unrest and we know how quickly things can explode,” Garcetti said, referring to the 1992 L.A. riots.
Host Maria Hinojosa then asked whether “it has crossed your mind like, oh my God, the next tinderbox might not be black/white relations… but might end up being immigrant/police/ICE confrontations and then that can lead to an ugly, ugly chapter in L.A.’s life?”
Garcetti responded by asking listeners to imagine an ICE agent trying to deport a parent who is dropping off their child at school.
“Imagine that’s on the sidewalk and students start swarming and they’re teenagers,” he said. “It’s dangerous for those agents. It’s dangerous for our city because when you have 400 agents in this area of five or six counties of Southern California who are facing a two-million-person-estimated population that’s undocumented, even if you increase your ICE agents by 50 percent like the president wants to do… if you have 600 people trying to find two million people and somehow deport all of them… you can’t logistically do it and it makes us all less safe because you are not going after the truly dangerous people.”
Garcetti said, for instance, that if an illegal immigrant does not report that she got raped, “that rapist doesn’t ask for someone’s paper. They’re going to prey on our city, period.” He said police need to be trusted to the point where people are “willing to say I saw a crime being committed, I need to report that I am a survivor of domestic violence.”
Garcetti said he wishes Trump and Department of Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly and others in Trump’s administration would spend more time where immigrants actually live. He argued that “they have a caricature of who these people are” and added that the situation is “different on the ground” because most families and neighborhoods in predominantly immigrant communities are “blended.”
He also defended Los Angeles as a “sanctuary city,” saying he was more than proud of that designation.
“If sanctuary city means your police force will not be deputized or will take it upon themselves to enforce immigration law, then absolutely we are and proudly so,” he said.
Garcetti added that half of the country hears the term “sanctuary city” and the “caricature is these are places that invite dangerous criminals” and give them “bonus points” while asking them to “please live amongst us and we will protect you.”
“And that’s absolutely absurd,” he said, even though illegal immigrants with criminal pasts have murdered innocent Americans like Kate Steinle in “sanctuary cities” like San Francisco. Steinle’s murderer, who had been deported five times, said he chose to reside in San Francisco specifically because he knew it was a “sanctuary city.”

HALF OF THE MURDERS IN LA RAZA-OCCUPIED CA ARE NOW BY MEXICAN GANGS.

REALITY:

"Although arrests by ICE are up 35% nationwide since Trump took office, they remain relatively flat in Southern California as of earlier this month. Arrests of immigrants without criminal pasts have remained low in the L.A. region as well, as agents are doing little, if anything, differently from what they were under the previous administration, ICE officials say."

Federal agents nab nearly 200 people in L.A.-area immigration raids targeting criminals

 and Contact Reporters

Federal immigration agents arrested nearly 200 people in the Los Angeles area during a five-day dragnet targeting criminal offenders living in the country illegally, U.S. officials said Thursday.
Agents arrested 188 people in an operation targeting “at-large criminal aliens, illegal re-entrants and immigration fugitives,” according to a statement from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Nearly 90% — 169 — of

those arrested in the operation, which ended

Wednesday, had prior convictions, officials

said. Those arrested included nationals from

11 countries. The majority, 146 people, are

from Mexico. Others are nationals of El

Salvador, Armenia, Honduras, Thailand,

Yugoslavia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Russia and

the Philippines, according to ICE.
Among them was a 29-year-old Salvadoran national who was

deported in 2013 after serving a nine-year prison term for

rape and who returned to the United States illegally, ICE said

in a statement. Also detained were a previously deported 51-

year-old from Mexico convicted of cocaine trafficking, a 47-

year-old from Mexico with prior convictions for felony

assault and another conviction for battery, and a 26-year-old

Salvadoran national who is a registered sex offender,

according to ICE.
Other criminal convictions included drug offenses, domestic violence, DUI, sex crimes, battery, weapons violations, assault, burglary, fraud, vehicle theft, arson, cruelty to a child, robbery, obstructing justice, property damage, larceny, escape, manslaughter, prostitution, trespassing, incest, receipt of stolen property, and illegal entry or re-entry, ICE said.

Immigrants who are not being criminally prosecuted will be processed for removal from the country, ICE said.

“By taking these individuals off the streets and removing them from the country, we’re making our communities safer for everyone,” David Marin, field office director for enforcement and removal operations in Los Angeles, said in a statement.
Officials have said that ICE practices in Los Angeles have not changed, despite President Trump’s promised crackdown on those in the United States illegally.
Although arrests by ICE are up 35% nationwide since Trump took office, they remain relatively flat in Southern California as of earlier this month. Arrests of immigrants without criminal pasts have remained low in the L.A. region as well, as agents are doing little, if anything, differently from what they were under the previous administration, ICE officials say.
The 188 arrests made this week are in line with the number of people nabbed in similar operations ICE periodically carries out in the region. In February, for example, more than 150 people were arrested during a weeklong campaign, and ICE again ramped up arrests during a several-day stretch last July, which resulted in 112 arrests.
ICE refers to the increased activity as expanded enforcement operations to set them apart from typical arrest levels, which are somewhat lower. ICE’s Los Angeles field office, which covers a huge area from San Luis Obispo to San Clemente and from the coast to the Nevada border, has nine teams of agents who arrest people suspected of being in the country illegally. At least one of the teams is active each day and will typically target just a handful of people.
Other agents, meanwhile, focus on arresting people as they are released from local jails.
In the three months after Trump took office, agents in the L.A. field office made 2,273 arrests — marking little change from the 2,166 arrests during the same period last year and a decline from the 2,719 arrests in 2015, according to ICE figures. Ninety percent of the people arrested this year had criminal records, the highest percentage among all ICE offices in the United States, the numbers show.

The L.A. figures differ starkly from those in Atlanta, Dallas and elsewhere, where the number of people without criminal records arrested by ICE has jumped dramatically in the months since Trump took office. In Atlanta, for example, noncriminal arrests rose more than fivefold over last year and accounted for a third of all ICE arrests.

Man with 15 Previous Deportations Nearly Kills Boy, Mainstream Media Shrugs

Excerpt: Documenting crime cases involving illegal immigrants in the news is indeed a tricky business. I agree that it's senseless and perhaps even harmful to over-cover illegal immigrant crime stories if there is no policy significance to the case. But when you have crime-related stories that illustrate the failure of sanctuary cities to protect American citizens, those incidents deserve to be covered because they have clear implications for policymakers. And stories like the Lennox Lake case, which illustrate what a revolving door our border is, deserve extensive coverage for the same reason.

This isn't illegal immigrant crime porn; it's a story that encapsulates the urgent need to secure our borders. Editors can attempt to distort reality by feeding the public a steady diet of deportation sob stories, giving the public the false impression that the only people being removed from the country are altar boys and saints. But they also have a responsibility to cover stories like the Lennox Lake case. And so, readers, viewers, and listeners must demand more balanced coverage or take their news loyalties elsewhere.

*
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had a loyalty rewards program, surely Constantino Banda-Acosta would be a platinum member. Banda-Acosta, a 38-year-old citizen of Mexico, has been deported from the United States at least 15 times according to the San Diego Union Tribune. Last week, while driving drunk, he allegedly blew through a stop sign and smashed into another vehicle, seriously injuring Lennox Lake, a six-year-old boy who was on his way home from a family trip to Disneyland. Banda-Acosta didn't stop or seek help, and the poor little boy had to undergo two surgeries at a Children's Hospital. (Donate to his GoFundMe page here.)
Banda-Acosta, who has pled not guilty, also has previous infractions include domestic violence arrests from 2006 and on January 9 this year, when he was removed for the fifteenth time. This is a guy who has essentially made a career out of violating our laws, sneaking back in, and then reoffending. We've used taxpayer money to deport him 15 times and, with any luck, can look forward to deportation No. 16 soon.
Anyone who still isn't convinced that we need to secure our borders needs to read Lennox Lake's sad story. But in all likelihood, only those who read conservative news outlets or live in the San Diego area will find out about his case. Editors have the power to take local stories like this one and elevate them into national stories. We see this all the time, for example, in cases where white police officers shoot black men or when someone with a heartbreaking story is deported.
When a local story suits the agenda of the news outlet, it's promoted to the national stage, but when it doesn't, it's ignored. As soon as I read this story, I knew it would be largely ignored by the big newspapers, CNN, MSNBC, and the networks. And yet conservative news outlets give stories like this one big play. This is one of the reasons why the country is so divided —what we hear, see, and read is heavily impacted by our news choices.
It isn't just liberal bias that causes editors to ignore outrageous stories like this, although that certainly is a factor. It is also the view that publicizing stories like these might engender ill will toward all immigrants or those who appear foreign. This is a kind of disdain for the reader/viewer/listener. Editors who make a practice of ignoring stories like this one are essentially telling their readers: you're too stupid to process this story and place it in its proper context. The consumer of news is viewed as a dolt who, if fed the wrong information, might go out and do something terrible.

DUI suspect in hit-run

 crash that left boy, 6,

badly hurt was deported 15

times

A drunken driving suspect in a hit-and-run crash that severely injured a 6-year-old boy in San Ysidro over the weekend had been deported from the U.S. at least 15 times, authorities said Tuesday.
Constantino Banda-Acosta, 38, was last deported Jan. 18, with at least 14 prior cases since 2002, federal authorities said.
Banda-Acosta is accused of speeding west on Camino de La Plaza, running a stop sign at Dairy Mart Road and slamming his pickup into a Honda Accord about 11:30 p.m. Saturday. The pickup driver did not stop.
Banda-Acosta, a Mexican citizen, was arrested about half an hour later, San Diego police and the U.S. Border Patrol said.
The car that was struck was occupied by a family driving home after a day trip to Disneyland. They were a block away from their home when the crash occurred, a relative said.
The speeding Chevrolet Silverado hit the driver and passenger’s side where the boy, Lennox Lake, was sitting in his car seat, said his grandmother, Cheryl Lake.
The boy’s father, Benjamin, became trapped. His wife, Ingrid, crawled out of the front passenger seat and rushed to aid Lennox, who was unconscious, not breathing and bleeding from his nostrils, ears and head, his grandmother said.
The child suffered a major head injury and was taken to a hospital. As of Tuesday night, he had undergone two surgeries at Rady Children’s Hospital, Cheryl Lake said.
Despite a long road ahead, his family and doctors are “cautiously optimistic” the boy will make a full recovery, his grandmother said.
She described Lennox as a friendly and smart boy.
"The kid makes friends everywhere he goes. He's just a delight as a grandson," Cheryl Lake said, fighting back tears.
Lennox has two older brothers, 14 and 16, who did not join the family on the trip to Disneyland. His family set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds for the medical bills and other expenses.
Soon after the collision, Border Patrol agents came upon the family’s wrecked Honda and fanned out in search of the hit-and-run driver.
A few blocks away, shortly after midnight, agents found a damaged pickup that matched the description Ingrid Lake gave them. Inside were two men, who were detained.
Banda-Acosta was identified as the driver. He

was booked into jail on suspicion of felony

hit-and-run with injury, drunken driving with

injury and driving without a valid license.
The Border Patrol took custody of Banda-Acosta’s passenger, also an unauthorized immigrant, agency officials said.
Banda-Acosta is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday . He was being held on $100,000 bail.
His criminal history includes arrests stemming from domestic violence allegations against his wife of 18 years, Chula Vista police Capt. Fritz Reber said. Chula Vista police arrested Banda-Acosta April 9, 2006 and Jan. 9 of this year.
ICE spokeswoman Lauren Mack said the agency would again seek deportation for Banda-Acosta after any conviction and sentence is served in connection with the DUI and hit-and-run crash.
The agency confirmed that, given its longstanding relationship with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, ICE is confident Banda-Acosta will be released to the agency once his criminal case is settled.
Cheryl Lake, the boy’s grandmother, was shocked and at a loss for words when a Union-Tribune reporter shared information about the number of times Banda-Acosta has been deported.
She said she couldn’t wrap her mind around how Banda-Acosta repeatedly entered the country illegally.
"There are not enough words to describe the huge impact his actions have had,” she said.
ICE confirmed that 15 removals is a significant number and indicates an egregious immigration violation.
San Diegans who support Trump's immigration policies saw the incident as proof that his plans are needed.
"Why do we continue to accept these travesties day after day?" said Imperial Beach resident Ernie Griffes via email. "Our state legislators encourage it with legislation.
"We need vetting, rules, order, structure. At a minimum, criminals need to go," said Patti Brasga via email.
San Diegans who oppose Trump's immigration policies spoke out against using this case to depict all immigrants as criminals.
"Drunk driving is a nation-wide problem that has affected the lives of far too many," said Andrea Guerrero, executive director of Alliance San Diego, via email. "Using the pain and suffering of victims and their families to vilify a single community is irresponsible and unhelpful. We all need to work together, immigrants and citizens alike, in an atmosphere of trust in order to solve public safety issues."
Because of the Banda-Acosta’s immigration history, the boy and his family will be eligible for help from the new Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement, or VOICE, office created by President Donald Trump in an executive order. The office aids victims of crimes committed by unauthorized immigrants.
The office was announced at the end of April and plans to study statistics related to unauthorized immigrants and crime in addition to supporting victims.
