Everett Miller, 45, was arrested after he allegedly shot and killed one officer and wounded another on Friday night in Kissimmee, Florida
A former Marine has been arrested on suspicion of shooting dead one police officer and critically injuring another in a sudden attack in Florida.
Everett Miller, 45, was arrested at a local bar after he allegedly got into a scuffle with Officer Matthew Baxter and Sgt. Sam Howard in Kissimmee,
Florida on Friday night.
The former serviceman allegedly shot and killed Baxter, 27, and critically wounded Howard, 36, in the attack.
Miller was arrested at a nearby bar later that night and now faces a charge of first-degree murder for killing Baxter and could face other charges for wounding Howard.
Miller was recently involuntarily committed for a mental evaluation by the Osceola County Sheriff's Office. He also made threats to law enforcement officials on Facebook, police said.
Howard, who remains in critical condition at a hospital, may not survive his injuries.
Police Chief Jeff O'Dell said on Saturday: 'It's grave. Not much hope that he will survive this.'

During a patrol late Friday of a neighborhood with a history of drug activity, Baxter was 'checking out' three people, including Miller, when the officer got into a scuffle with Miller.
Howard, his sergeant, responded as backup but the officers didn't have an opportunity to return fire, the police chief said.
The officers were not were not wearing body cameras.
Sheriff's deputies with a neighboring law enforcement agency later tracked Miller down to a bar and approached him.
Miller started reaching toward his waistband when the deputies tackled and subdued him, O'Dell said. They found a handgun and revolver on him.
The police chief said Miller was taken to jail wearing the fallen officer's handcuffs.
Authorities originally said they believed there were four suspects, but the chief said Saturday that no other arrests are anticipated.
As of Saturday morning, Howard was in 'grave, critical condition' at the hospital, O'Dell said.

Baxter had been with the Kissimmee Police Department for three years. He was married to another Kissimmee police officer and they have four children.
Howard has served with the Kissimmee Police Department for 10 years. He and his wife have one child, O'Dell said.
'They are two wonderful men, family men,' O'Dell said. 'They are two committed to doing it the right way.'
President Donald Trump was quick to comment on the shooting, tweeting that his thoughts and prayers were with 'Kissimmee Police and their loved ones'.
'We are with you!' he added, including the hashtag #LESM.
Florida Governor Rick Scott also tweeted that he was 'heartbroken' to hear of the officer's death.
'Tonight we lost a brave officer - Matthew Baxter. Husband/father/hero. Praying for @kissimmeepolice,' he wrote in another tweet.

A South Dakota man pleaded guilty Friday to eight counts of domestic assault after he cut off his girlfriend's nipples with a pair of scissors.
Tony Deval Ledbetter, 45, and his companion were reportedly having a dispute about the state of their relationship the evening of October 11, 2016, when police say Lebnetter 'punched and slammed' the woman's head to the ground.
Ledbetter attempted to stop her from screaming and alarming neighbors of the matter by cutting off her airway with his forearm.
When that was unsuccessful, he took a blanket, stuffed it in the her mouth and sat on top of her, then proceeded to cut off her nipples with the scissors.
The victim was able to escape the scene. When she departed the house, Ledbetter phoned 911, police spokesman Sam Clemens said.

A friend of the victim created the
GoFundMe page 'Woman Mutilated with Scissors,' to help spread the word on domestic abuse as well as aid in her nipple reconstruction surgery.
'Due to the serious nature of this violence and pending legal action the victim's name will remain anonymous,' the post reads.

So far, the fundraiser reached $10,220 of its goal of $250,000.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who
served as Speaker of the House
Jan. 4, 2007 - Jan. 3, 2011.
(Screenshot.)
(CNSNews.com) -- When Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was Speaker of the House for four years (2007-2010), at least 709,885 black babies were killed by abortion, which is 35.4% of all the abortions during those years, according to the Abortion Surveillance reports of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The CDC accumulates abortion data every year and publishes the numbers by state and race and other criteria. However, not all states report abortion data to the CDC, and/or do not break it down by race or ethnicity, or do not meet reporting standards, states the CDC.
For example, in 2010, there were only 28 reporting areas; another 24 areas did not report. These included California, Florida, Illinois, Hawaii, Arizona, Maryland, and Massachusetts, among other states. Thus, the number of black abortions or white abortions reported by the CDC is likely much lower than the real number.
In
2008, there were 194,694 black abortions -- 34.0% of the total.
In
2009, there were 154,266 black abortions -- 35.4% of the total.
In
2010, there were 148,261 black abortions -- 35.7% of the total.
In all, that equals 709,885 black abortions -- 35.4% of the total -- during the four years that Nancy Pelosi was Speaker of the House, based upon the areas that reported to the CDC.
There were a total 1,918,419 abortions during those four years.
Blacks make up 13.3% of the U.S. population, according to the
Census Bureau.
In 2015, Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion provider, presented then-Speaker Pelosi (D-Calif.) with the
Margaret Sanger Award. The award is Planned Parenthood's "highest honor" and is named for a woman who believed in breeding better humans through eugenics and even promoted her birth control philosophy to female members of the
Ku Klux Klan (KKK).
