REVOLUTION IN MEXICO! - 70,000 WORKERS STRIKE ON THE NARCOMEX BORDER

Rebellion in Matamoros, Mexico

70,000 workers strike at US-Mexico border sweatshops

By Alex González and Eric London
15 January 2019
At least 70,000 workers from 45 factories—including tens of thousands of auto parts and assembly workers at companies that supply GM, Ford and Fiat-Chrysler—have launched a wildcat strike in the US-Mexico border town of Matamoros.
The strike is a rebellion against both the “maquiladora” manufacturing corporations and the pro-company trade unions. Over 1 million workers endure low wages and sweatshop conditions at the 3,000 “maquiladora” factories that line the Mexican side of the border and account for 65 percent of Mexican exports.
The strike is a powerful sign of the growing mood of insurgency among workers across the world. It takes place alongside a strike of 30,000 public school teachers in Los Angeles, growing “yellow vest” demonstrations against inequality in France, and widespread anger among US and European autoworkers over massive planned job cuts by GM and Ford.
The workers decided to strike on Saturday at a mass general assembly meeting where the 2,000 in attendance repudiated the hated Union of Laborers and Industrial Workers of the Maquiladora Industry (SJOIIM) and agreed to elect representatives from their factories to direct their struggle free from the control of the union.

After the meeting, strikers visited each plant to call out their coworkers and hang red and black banners on closed plants—the traditional Mexican symbol of a factory occupation.
In defiance of orders by the union to stay on the job until Wednesday, groups of workers fanned out across the city to block the entrances to the shuttered plants and to stand guard both day and night. Workers have also set up common cafeterias and other amenities for strikers.
Workers are demanding a 20 percent wage increase, a bonus of 30,000 pesos (USD$1,500) and a return to the 40-hour workweek. Workers initially demanded a 100 percent wage increase, but this was reduced by the union when SJOIIM President Juan Villafuerte agreed to officially sanction the strike.
The SJOIIM’s decision to give official backing is a maneuver by the union to control and suffocate the strike. Workers are already posting screenshots online of text messages from union representatives threatening them with mass firings if they do not return to work immediately.
Breyssa, a striking Matamoros worker, told the World Socialist Web Site, “The union leaders are getting rich off the workers. Every day they take five pesos from our salary, and if you do overtime, they take a percentage of the hours you log in. In December, they take a portion of our holiday pay.”
One of workers’ chief demands is a reduction in union dues. Among the social media graphics workers are circulating is one that reads, “The workers of Matamoros will never go back to paying 4 percent union dues. You can’t have a rich union and poor workers.”
“The workers of Matamoros will never go back to paying 4 percent union dues. You can’t have a rich union and poor workers.”
Another image states, “Urgent notice: We need a representative from each factory to report urgently. New leaders are urgently needed. General strike January 16.”
A third says, “All SJOII workers are being summoned to attend a special assembly. The order of the day will be the removal of the present union leader and his workgroup for failing to help.” The mass meeting is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
"Urgent notice- We need a representative from each factory to report urgently. New leaders are urgently needed. General strike January 16.”
The companies on strike include Inteva, STC, Polytech, Kemet, Tyco, Parker, AFX and Autoliv. Pro-industry publications fear the strike wave may spread to other border towns, including Tijuana, Mexicali and Ciudad Juarez.
The strike takes place just across the border from Brownsville, Texas, where Donald Trump visited last week to denounce Mexicans and Central Americans as “criminals” and to demand the construction of a border wall amid the ongoing US government shutdown. Among the main goals of this wall is to physically divide the working class of Latin America from their natural class allies north of the border.
The US and Canadian auto unions have echoed Trump’s nationalist, anti-Mexican rants in an effort to direct workers’ attention away from the real enemies: the corporations and their union collaborators.
In November, when General Motors announced it was slashing 15,000 jobs in the US and Canada, the United Auto Workers and Unifor blamed Mexican workers for “stealing jobs.”
Ford has also announced thousands of job cuts in Europe and, with more cuts forthcoming amid an international restructuring of the auto industry, the unions and companies fear that workers will unite across national boundaries in a common fight. At a recent Unifor union rally in Windsor, Ontario, a woman stood near the speakers’ platform dressed in a sombrero and poncho to insult Mexican workers. These are the racist views of the wealthy union leaders, not of US and Canadian workers who are looking for a way to stop the job, wage and benefit cuts.
Mexican maquiladora workers are not the enemies of US and Canadian workers. They are exploited by the same companies and are engaged in the same process of production. While the union bureaucrats in the US make upwards of $200,000 per year, Matamoros workers make on average 176 pesos (USD$9.20) per day.
Matamoros maquiladora workers also confront an enemy in the new government of Mexican president Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), whose National Regeneration Movement (Morena) controls the national legislature. Matamoros maquiladora workers are angry that they will not receive a raise as part of AMLO’s new free economic zone, aimed at facilitating the exploitation of Mexican workers by US manufacturers in the border region.
Though AMLO’s plan includes a 100 percent hike to the minimum wage, Matamoros workers will be negatively affected because they already make slightly more than the minimum wage. The corporations are using the minimum wage hike as an excuse to slash bonuses and benefits for all workers.
Matamoros’ new mayor, Mario Lopez, who is a member of Morena, said in a late 2018 interview on Central TV that because of the minimum wage increase, maquiladora workers’ wage demands are “not financially viable for the maquiladoras.” In the same interview, Lopez admitted that he was involved in a backroom “chat” with the unions and the bosses to eliminate workers’ bonuses from the new contract. “I am intervening to make sure the parties reach a conciliatory plan,” he said at the time.

Workers across the world experience the same conditions. Breyssa, the Matamoros striker, described life at her parts plant:
“In my plant there is always machine oil on the floor, and it is terribly loud. We are not given safe footwear or ear plugs for the noise. We had to bring our own safety equipment. Shifts are more than 10 hours per day, Monday through Saturday. We are on our feet without anywhere to sit, and sometimes we were forced to work overtime.
“We get there at 5:30 a.m. and leave at 6 or 7 at night. We are not allowed to go to the bathroom more than five times during our shift, and then we can only take five minutes. We are not able to drink much water, although it is often very hot in our work areas.”
Breyssa spoke about the threat of reprisals by the auto parts companies after the strike was announced:
“Many companies are threatening workers with mass firings. In companies like Kemet, workers have been locked out. In another company called AFX, workers are being threatened with violence if they hang a banner indicating that they are on strike. At another plant called Autoliv, the police were called and were used to remove workers from the property. Workers want this information to get out, but they are afraid. There have been many years of injustices and poor treatment, and we are tired.”
contacted AFX corporate headquarters in Port Huron, Michigan and asked whether the company was threatening workers with violence. A representative said, “I have no comment on that.”
The movement by workers internationally against job cuts, wage cuts and concessions is gaining momentum. On February 9, at 2 p.m. autoworkers will demonstrate at GM headquarters in Detroit, Michigan to show that they do not accept the job cuts and concessions announced by the auto and parts companies and are prepared to link up across all North America in a united fight for social equality.

Why Democrats Oppose The Wall: Trump Will Actually Build It

The conservative consensus is that Democrats don't want to fund President Trump's  wall because they hate him.  Well, yes, Democrats do indeed hate President Trump, and yes, it's a deep-seated hatred, a visceral, soul-rotting hatred, but that's not the real reason they won't fund the wall.
The biggest reason Democrats won't even partially fund the wall is their absolute certainty that given the money, the president will actually build the thing.
President Trump's  not some out-of-the-loop politician who can be outmaneuvered by a Deep State whose embedded bureaucrats will tell him everything's going swimmingly while they sabotage the project with cost overruns and endless delays.  No, the president will know how much it should and will cost, how long it should and will take, and how to overcome government roadblocks.  This is his wheelhouse.  He's done it his whole adult life.
And, since the wall is his signature issue, his personal passion, President Trump's going to be all over the construction.  That looming steel show-stopper will be blocking invaders in record time, under budget and ahead of schedule.
Knowing that the wall will become a reality if the President gets the cash brings out the cheap-labor-express, wealthy power brokers like the Billionaires for Open Borders: Michael Bloomberg; Rupert Murdoch; other distinguished members of the Forbes 500; and, as Lou Dobbs often reminds us, the "globalists, the Chamber of Commerce, the Business Roundtable, Koch brothers and Wall Street."
But it's not just the Washington insiders who like cheap renewable labor.  Retailgiants like Target, Walmart, and others reap the benefits of illegal immigration.  In fact, most industries get in on the deal.
A 2012 study shows a breakdown of unauthorized alien workers:
  • 22% in legal services, advertising, employment services, landscaping and waste management, dry cleaning, nail salons, car washes and religious organizations.
  • 18% in the leisure and hospitality sector, lodging, food services, theme parks, transportation, and other tourism oriented products and services
  • 16% in the construction industry
  • 12% wholesale and retail trade
So most of the corporate world has some interest in stopping a border wall.  It's a top priority for many.  These interests make for a powerful force, and they will not back down.
The second reason Democrats will never fund the wall is their voter base – not unions or teachers, but illegal aliens, who broke our laws, crashed our border, and now infringe on American's sacred right to elect their government by illegally casting votes.
One glaring example was the 2016 presidential election, where Hillary Clinton "garnered more than 800,000 votes from non-citizens."  How many of those illegal votes decided congressional or state races?
Democrats continue to find creative ways for illegals to vote.  There's ballot-harvesting, where a third party collects ballots from voters then drops them off at polling places.  Once on the rolls, political campaigns have free license to go find that person, or even if they don't find him, just turn in a ballot in his name.
Then there's the Motor-Voter debacle: a million illegal aliens in California have Driver's Licenses.  California admitted that over 1,500 people were illegallyregistered under new automatic voter registration.
California's not an anomaly.  Twelve states and the District of Columbia have now enacted laws to allow illegal aliens to obtain a driver's license – the gold standard for identification.
So there's cheap labor and a growing Democrat base, but those issues were there when Democrats voted for previous "barriers," so what's the real problem?
The deal-breaker is a missing out clause.  As I said, construction is President Trump's wheelhouse, so the wall will go up quickly.  No time to pull the legislation back or rewrite it, as they did with President Bush.
Bush signed the Secure Fence Act of 2006 into law after it was passed by huge bipartisan majorities in the House and Senate.  The law ordered the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to construct 700 miles of fencing along the southern border and authorized the addition of lights, cameras, and sensors to enhance security.  The law explicitly required the wall to be constructed of "at least two layers of reinforced fencing."
When Democrats took control of Congress a few months later, an amendmentwas added to the 2008 spending bill that gutted the law.  So Democrats and open-border Republicans were able to avoid a politically unpopular vote against the wall, then quietly gut its construction.  President Trump will not allow that recourse.
Herein lies the real threat to the open-border gang: that the wall a will be built and is a permanent fixture, not a fence drug dealers can build a ramp to roll over and deliver their poisonous drugs.  It is not a fence easily scaled or easily dismantled by future Democrat presidents.
No, the Trump wall will be steel, will be permanent.  If a Democrat is elected POTUS at a future date, he will not be able to simply undo the wall and reopen the border.  That's the non-negotiable piece: the fact that a steel wall is irreversible.  No escape clause.
Is the Trump wall impenetrable?  No, even a steel wall can be breached.   A Department of Homeland Security test of a steel slat prototype proved that it could be cut through with a saw, a "common tool".
DHS Spokeswoman Katie Waldman responded:
The steel bollard design is internally reinforced with materials that require time and multiple industrial tools to breach, thereby providing U.S. Border Patrol agents additional response time to affect a successful law enforcement resolution.  In the event that one of the steel bollards becomes damaged, it is quick and cost-effective to repair.
Rush Limbaugh said the conventional wisdom is that the president will declare a national emergency to build the wall, then reopen the government, making Schumer and Pelosi the winners on the government shutdown, the ones who held the line.
I'm all in for the national emergency, but hopefully the President will then resume negotiations.  At that point, the wall will no longer be a sticking point, so surely Democrats will fund drones, 750 U.S. Border Patrol agents, 2,000 new officers for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), more judges and attorneys to reduce the 650,000 immigration case backlog;" and new technology along the southern border".
After all, Democrats advocate for many of these solutions instead of a wall, so why wouldn't they eagerly embrace these security measures once the wall's off the table?  Or is their position going to be no border security of any kind?
The standoff over the wall looks like a lose-lose, a Mexican standoff, but the president can be totally victorious in this battle.
In every battle there comes a time when both sides consider themselves beaten, then he who continues the attack wins. Ulysses S. Grant
Stay strong, Mr. President, the American people are with you.

GEORGE SOROS AND THE CLINTON GLOBALIST AGENDA FOR BANKSTERS AND WIDEOPEN BORDERS

NEW YORK — Demand Justice, an organization founded by former members of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign and associated with a “social welfare organization” financed by billionaire activist George Soros, is raising money for an eventual court fight against what the group describes as President Trump’s proposed “racist, unnecessary wall.”

“Obama would declare himself president for life with Soros really running the show, as he did for the entire Obama presidency.”

“Hillary was always small potatoes, a placeholder as it were. Her health was always suspect. And do you think the plotters would have let a doofus like Tim Kaine take office in the event that Hillary became disabled?”

MEXICO’S INVASION, OCCUPTION and LOOTING OF AMERICA by INVITATION OF THE LA RAZA SUPREMACY DEMOCRAT PARTY
"Fox’s Tucker Carlson noted Thursday that Obrador has previously proposed ranting AMNESTY TO MEXICAN DRUG CARTELS. “America is now Mexico’s social safety net, and that’s a very good deal for the Mexican ruling class,” Carlson added."

"The man likely to be the next president of Mexico just called for mass migration to the US" RICK MORAN

“And soon, very soon — after the victory of our movement — we will defend all the migrants in the American continent and all the migrants in the world,” Obrador said, adding that immigrants “must leave their towns and find a life in the United States.” RICK MORAN

FACTS ON THE “REAL LATINO AMERICA” OF MEXICAN OCCUPIED LOS ANGELES:

This is another "fact" spun from the 2004 op-ed by Heather Mac Donald, whose article refers to a single Los Angeles gang and the conjecture of an unnamed federal prosecutor.

1.      "40% of all workers in L.A. County are working for cash and not paying taxes. . . . This is because they are predominantly illegal immigrants working without a green card." The Mexican tax-free economy in Los Angeles County is estimated to be in excess of $2 billion dollars a year.

2.     "95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens . . . "

3.     "75% of people on the most wanted list in Los Angeles are illegal aliens."

4.    "Over 2/3 of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal, whose births were paid for by taxpayers." The County of Los Angeles hands Mexico’s anchor baby breeders more than a BILLION DOLLARS a year in welfare.

5.     "Nearly 35% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally." California has the largest and most expensive prison system in the country. Half the inmates are now Mexicans. Half the murders in California are by Mexican gangs.

6.    Over 300,000 illegal aliens in Los Angeles County are living in garages.

7. "The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are most likely illegal aliens from south of the border."

8. "Nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal."
immigrants.

9. 21 radio stations in L. A. are Spanish speaking.

10. In L. A. County 5.1 million people speak English, 3.9 million speak Spanish.

MEXICO WILL ELECT HER!

https://globalistbarackobama.blogspot.com/2019/01/michelle-obama-ill-be-baracks-third.html

The main objective of “political animals” like Obama and the Clintons is to get elected; it’s not to fix a broken America, nor to protect her. There are people who govern and there are people who campaign; Obama and the Clintons are the latter. Just look at the huge Republican electoral gains under Obama and the Clintons. It’s amazing that Democrats who still care about their party still support the very people who have brought it down.

“Of course, one of the main reasons the nation is now “divided, resentful and angry” is because race-baiting, Islamist, class warrior Barack Hussein Obama was president for eight long years.   MATTHEW VADUM

Editorial Reviews: Obama Is Making You Poorer—But Who’s Getting Rich?

Goldman Sachs, GE, Pfizer, the United Auto Workers—the same “special interests” Barack Obama was supposed to chase from the temple—are profiting handsomely from Obama’s Big Government policies that crush taxpayers, small businesses, and consumers. In Obamanomics, investigative reporter Timothy P. Carney digs up the dirt the mainstream media ignores and the White House wishes you wouldn’t see. Rather than Hope and Change, Obama is delivering corporate socialism to America, all while claiming he’s battling corporate America. It’s corporate welfare and regulatory robbery—it’s Obamanomics. Trump Has the Democrats Cornered

No sooner had the Democrats taken back the majority in the House of Representatives than they proved their harshest critics correct – the party no longer concerns itself with the interests of the American people.  And by refusing to provide a dime for a physical barrier on our border, they did it in the starkest terms possible.
Led by far-left Nancy Pelosi, who held off a challenge to her leadership from the even farther left, the House Democrats promptly put themselves in the position of being seen taking the side of foreigners entering the country illegally over the security and economic prosperity of American citizens.  They reduced themselves to the absurd position that "walls don't work."
I'm not one who necessarily believes that President Trump is a master negotiator or is playing 3D chess.  But whether by design or because of pressure from his restive base, he now has the winning hand to build his wall and go on to re-election in 2020.
What's important now is that Trump plays his winning hand and resists the growing calls from the opposition media and cheap-labor Republicans to compromise with Nancy and Chuck.  Doing so would just throw them a lifeline.  Instead, Trump should use the power granted presidents by Congress, declare a national emergency, and begin construction of the wall.
Sure, the Democrats and open-border zealots will run to the thoroughly discredited 9th Circuit and get an activist Obama judge to stand the law on its head and issue a bogus restraining order.  But the president will be on solid legal footing, and that ruling will be overturned by the Supreme Court on the expedited basis that an emergency declaration demands.
It took a while for them to admit it, but even liberal legal scholars now grudgingly recognize that the National Emergencies Act of 1976 grants the president the authority to reprogram military construction funds for emergency projects.  And sorry, CNN, but it's the president and the president alone who decides what's an emergency.  The Secure Fence Act passed by Congress in 2006 further strengthens Trump's case for declaring an emergency.
This will put the Dems in the awkward position of arguing that wasteful Army Corps of Engineer projects in Iraq and Afghanistan are more important than one protecting America's border.  While many of those projects were of dubious value to begin with, many more have already been built, have been destroyed, and are waiting to be rebuilt to be destroyed again.
While all this plays out, the Democrats will be all over the opposition media, declaring Trump a tyrant for having the audacity to secure the nation's borders.  It will be Trump Derangement Syndrome on parade as one wild-eyed leftist after another vehemently argues against what Americans can plainly see is common sense.
Trump's greatest value is as a disruptor, and all this disruption is just too delicious, as it forces the Dems to play their losing hand.
While Trump should quickly end the partial government shutdown to take away that issue, he shouldn't give an inch on DACA or any other form of amnesty.  Doing that would muddy the waters and fracture his base and congressional Republicans.  That argument can wait for another day and for more substantial concessions from the Democrats like an end to chain migration.  In the meantime, let the Dems twist in the wind.
This would also be a good time for the administration to get its communications act together and correct several fallacies the opposition media have ingrained into the public's consciousness – fallacies like that the wall is an exorbitant expense, when in reality it will save far more through reduced costs associated with illegal immigration, which currently costs the nation well over $150B each and every year.  Heck, it will save money on the reduced need for border patrol personnel alone.  Then there is the fallacy that a 2,000-mile border barrier is some major engineering challenge, when the U.S. has built over 46,000 miles of interstate highways, each mile of which required more complex engineering than setting a steel-bollard wall.  And there is the self-obvious fallacy that agenda-driven politicians, open-borders advocates, and opposition media pundits know more about how to secure the border than border patrol agents who overwhelmingly are calling for a physical barrier.
Having regained one house of Congress, the Democrats immediately boxed themselves into a losing position.  That position is in opposition to the main issue that elected Trump to the presidency: securing the border.  Their fellow travelers in the media can deceive the uninformed portion of the electorate for only so long before it becomes painfully clear that voting for Democrats imperils the nation.

THE DEM CONSPIRACY HITS SAN DIEGO
Let’s briefly review the sordid history of DACA. DACA was a program concocted by the Obama administration to overcome the failure of Congress to pass a massive amnesty program known as Comprehensive Immigration Reform and the follow-up attempt to pass a massive amnesty program known as “The DREAM Act.” By Michael Cutler
*
*

The concept behind the DREAM Act and DACA was to exploit the well-known empathy and compassion Americans have for children. Both of those efforts were sold as means of helping children who were brought to the United States by their parents. By Michael Cutler
*
study by Tom Wong of the University of California at San Diego discovered that more than 25 percent of DACA-enrolled illegal aliens in the program have anchor babies. That totals about 200,000 anchor babies who are the children of DACA-enrolled illegal aliens. This does not include the anchor babies of DACA-qualified illegal aliens. JOHN BINDER

ANN COULTER: WILL THE GLOBALIST DEMOCRAT PARTY FOR BANKSTERS AND BILLIONAIRES DESTROY AMERICA?
I would also go to all of the working class that are in America, construction workers in particular. Their salaries have not just stagnated, they have gone down in the last 20 years. These are the least among us. We are the only ones not speaking out of self-interest. …
Most of the people who are advocating for open borders … they have a vested in interest in having either the cheap labor or the Democratic voters. Their neighborhoods aren’t the ones being overwhelmed. They get the cheap maids, the cheap nannies, and then they strut around like they’re Martin Luther King.
No, you are talking in your self-interest, Chamber of Commerce, and Koch brothers, and Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer. It’s Donald Trump and our side who are actually caring about our fellow Americans — the kids who are getting addicted to black tar heroin. …
The heroin problem in this country is 100 percent a problem of not having a wall on the border. And 70,000 Americans are dying every year. That’s more that died in the entire Vietnam War. That is a national emergency.  ANN COULTER
