As the only candidate registering double-digit support among the candidates at tonight's Democrat presidential "debate," Elizabeth Warren expects to be the queen of the kiddie table.  Sharing the stage with her will be Bill de Blasio, Tim Ryan, Julián Castro, Cory Booker, Beto O'Rourke, Amy Klobuchar, Tulsi Gabbard, Jay Inslee, and John Delaney.

It is her chance to look like the giant among the pygmies and continue to move up and challenge the fading Bernie Sanders for second place.  She covets the slot as the principal alternative alternative to Joe Biden, whose predilection for gaffes and increasingly obvious mental limitations have panicked party and media kingmakers.

For tonight's Big Chance, she has chosen to capitalize on the current propaganda campaign demonizing the very concept of detaining border-violators and expelling those who have enjoyed due process and flouted court orders.  The logical end point of this agitation is open borders, of course.  And yesterday, Warren took the step of calling for complete decriminalization of border violations, telling the Huffington Post:

We should not be criminalizing mamas and babies trying to flee violence at home or trying to build a better future. We must pass comprehensive immigration reform that is in line with our values, creates a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants including our DREAMers, and protects our borders.

Warren, a former law professor at Harvard, knows that by making border violations a civil offense (equivalent to getting a parking ticket), with no detention possible, anyone and everyone among the billions of poor people in the world who wants to come here will be able to do so without fear of obstruction.  A mere citation they would be free to ignore would enable them to disappear into the 340 million people reckoned to be living within our borders.

Border-violators now are in excess of 100,000 a month, a figure that would multiply under a decriminalization approach.  In this age of cheap intercontinental travel, the sky is the limit when word gets out.  Numbers that seem impossible are actually quite realistic.  What would America look like with an extra hundred million poor third-world people?  It is a recipe for the fundamental transformation of America that Barack Obama promised.

An America of half a billion people, many of them non-English-speakers with little education but eligible for driver's licenses, earned income tax credits (AKA welfare), food stamps, and children needing education and health care at public expense, would complete our transformation into a third-world country with a permanent Democrat-voting majority once the "pathway to citizenship" she demands is in place.  I can see how this appeals to progressive Democrats, but I am at a loss to understand its broader electoral appeal.

Will any of the other candidates tonight be willing to call her out?  Doing so would be an opportunity for Tulsi Gabbard to make an appeal to the centrist faction among the Democrats' base.  Governor Hickenlooper, the other Dem making a play for the sane vote, appears tomorrow night.

On Tuesday, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren reportedly joined Democratic rival Julian Castro in advocating for the decriminalization of illegal border crossing.

“We should not be criminalizing mamas and babies trying to flee violence at home or trying to build a better future,” Warren told the Huffington Post. “We must pass comprehensive immigration reform that is in line with our values, creates a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants including our DREAMers, and protects our borders.”

Fellow presidential hopeful Julian Castro drew attention in April when he began advocating for the repeal of Section 1325. “This was an idea championed by immigration activists and experts for some time,” Castro spokesperson Sawyer Hackett tweeted, “but not adopted by mainstream political leaders until Julian Castro‘s People First Immigration platform.”

3500 Migrants Apprehended over 3 Days in One Texas Border Sector

Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector apprehended more than 3,500 migrants who illegally crossed during a three-day period this week. The flow continues despite efforts by the Mexican government to reverse the trend.

On Sunday, agents patrolling near Rio Grande City, Texas, encountered a group of 100 who illegally crossed from Mexico. The group consisted mainly of unaccompanied children and family units, according to information provided by Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol officials.

Later that day, agents from the Weslaco Station patrolling near Hidalgo, Texas, encountered another large migrant group. This group consisted of “262 illegal aliens who readily turned themselves in,” Border Patrol officials stated.

By the end of a three-day period, the agents of the Rio Grande Valley Sector apprehended more than 3,500 migrants, the report concluded.

The Rio Grande Valley is regularly the busiest of the nine southwest Border Patrol sectors. In May, agents apprehended 135,812 family unit aliens (FMUA), 23,944 unaccompanied alien children (UAC), and 63,507 single adult aliens (SAA), according to the May Southwest Border Migration Report released earlier this month. These numbers are up from 36,773 FMUAs, 14,822 UACs, and 48,240 SAAs in fiscal year 2018.

Breitbart News reported earlier this month when Mexico announced plans to deploy up to 6,500 National Guard troops to its southern border and an additional 2,500 troops to the U.S. border.

On Monday, the Mexican government announced plans to deploy 15,000 military and National Guard troops to their northern border with the United States.

“In the northern part of the country, we have deployed a total of almost 15,000 troops composed of national guard elements and military units,” Mexican Secretary of Defense Luis Cresencio Sandoval told reporters during a briefing on Monday. The defense secretary said his country has also deployed 2,000 guardsmen to their southern border.

The move comes in response to nearly 400,000 Central American and other migrants who entered the nation in the last three months on journeys to the U.S. Mexico City also discussed plans to deport approximately 2,500 migrants per day.

The deployments follow an agreement on June 7 between Mexico and the Trump Administration. The deal put on hold White House plans to impose a tariff on exports to the U.S.

Over the weekend, AFP reported that national guard troops could be seen stopping migrants from attempting to cross the U.S. border near El Paso.

Bernie Sanders Campaign Uses E-mail List to Warn of ICE Raids

On Saturday, just hours before ICE raids were set to begin, socialist presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders’ campaign used their e-mail network to warn supporters.

“ICE raids targeting 10 cities start Sunday. Know your rights,” the subject read. Appended to the e-mail were two graphics — one in English, the other Spanish — describing immigrant rights via guidance by the American Civil Liberties Union.

“It’s not strictly on point when it comes to building out a presidential campaign [to use campaign data] for the purpose other than running for president,” Ruthie Epstein, the ACLU deputy director of immigration policy, said. She reportedly claimed that the organization “played no role” in the e-mail alert.

The e-mail came from Sanders’ Press Secretary Belén Sisa, an undocumented immigrant through the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. According to Vox, it read:

Multiple news outlets are reporting that Immigration and Customs Enforcement is planning deportation raids against immigrant families in Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York City, and San Francisco starting early Sunday morning.

Sisa stood by her actions. “It is no longer enough to talk about issues like immigration, but we must take real action to fight back and protect our undocumented community, like we did on Saturday,” she told Vox. “There isn’t much else that anybody can do other than stand up in unity.”

And Sanders has pivoted hard into this issue for his 2020 campaign, though he has deliberately stopped short of advocating for open borders. “What we need is comprehensive immigration reform,” Sanders said at a town hall in Iowa.

“If you open the borders, my God, there’s a lot of poverty in this world, and you’re going to have people from all over the world,” he continued. “And I don’t think that’s something that we can do at this point. Can’t do it. So that is not my position.”

This annual income for an impoverished American family is $10,000 less than the more than $34,500 in federal funds which are spent on each unaccompanied minor border crosser.

A study by Tom Wong of the University of California at San Diego discovered that more than 25 percent of DACA-enrolled illegal aliens in the program have anchor babies.
