IS NBC UNIVERSAL UP RED CHINA'S ASS?

Unraveling the Ties Between NBC and the Chinese Regime

April 5, 2020 Updated: April 24, 2020
Commentary
The outbreak of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) virus, commonly referred to as the novel coronavirus, over the past few months has highlighted the close relationships that many Western companies have with Beijing. Among the American companies with close ties to the Chinese communist regime is NBC Universal.
NBC Universal is one of the United States’ biggest media conglomerates, with a television network, several cable channels, many local television stations, film and television production companies, and theme parks. Public information shows that the company’s total revenue in 2017 reached $33 billion.
Below is a brief overview of the relationship between NBC and the Chinese regime.

NBC Article

On March 14, NBC News published a commentary titled, “Coronavirus in China kept me under quarantine. I felt safer there than back in the U.S.” It was written by Tony Perman, an American music professor who recently traveled to Shanghai with his family on vacation. He praised the Communist authorities’ virus prevention measures and belittled the U.S. government. “We left Shanghai as the city was showing signs of flickering optimism. New cases were rare. Life was returning to normal,” the professor wrote. “We entered the U.S. as a country in panic … it is clear that the government can’t stop the spread.”

On March 16, the Washington Examiner published Becket Adams’ rebuttal to the NBC story, criticizing NBC News for parroting the Chinese regime’s propaganda. He said of Perman: “He is not a healthcare professional. He is not a crisis management expert. He is not even a government worker. He is just a guy who saw what he was allowed to see as a tourist in China.”
“Yet, for whatever reason, one of the largest and most powerful media groups in the United States has given him a platform to praise the government that caused this crisis and to criticize the U.S. based on his very limited experiences in a notoriously secretive and controlling one-party state. Absent from the article are mentions of China’s initial attempts to cover up the pandemic or the arrests of whistleblowers who tried to warn the international community about the outbreak,” Adams wrote.
Adams believes that this is the biggest help the Chinese Communist Party can get from U.S. news outlets and media. “This sort of thing has become par for the course for our supposedly free press, which has taken to criticizing U.S. incompetence while praising China’s supposed expertise and proficiency amid the COVID-19 outbreak.”

Business Ties Between NBC and Chinese State Media

On Nov. 23, 2010, Chinese state-run media Xinhua and NBC signed a memorandum of cooperation in New York, confirming that the two sides established a business cooperation in international broadcast news.
According to the memorandum, China Xinhua News Network and NBC will conduct extensive and in-depth cooperation in the collection, production, and broadcast of TV news content and personnel training. According to the CCP’s official media, this was the latest market expansion effort taken by the Xinhua at the time.
Steve Capus, then-president of NBC News, said at the signing ceremony that NBC values its partnership with Xinhua and hopes to strengthen cooperation and common development.
On Feb. 18, 2020, the U.S. State Department listed Xinhua and five other Chinese state-run media outlets in the United States as “foreign missions,” identifying them as operations of the Chinese regime and not independent news organizations.

NBC Universal Builds Universal Beijing Resort

In 2001, NBC Universal Media, LLC began plans to build a theme park in China. After years of contact and negotiation with the Chinese regime, it was finally approved by China’s State Council in September 2014. The project, called Universal Beijing Resort, is located in Tongzhou District and covers an area of 400 hectares. The first phase of the project covers an area of about 170 hectares. Construction began in 2019 and is expected to be completed in May 2021. It will be the world’s largest Universal Studios resort.
This resort is jointly funded by Beijing Shouhuan Cultural Tourism Investment Co., Ltd. and NBC Universal, with an estimated investment of more than 20 billion yuan (about $2.8 billion). Shouhuan Cultural Tourism Investment Ltd. is a joint venture established by Beijing Tourism Group (BTG), Shoukai Group, Beijing Cultural Investment Development Group, Tongzhou Modern International New City Investment and Operation Co., Ltd.
BTG is a state-owned enterprise under the Beijing Tourism Bureau. Song Yu, the new party secretary and chairman of BTG, is the deputy CCP secretary and director of the Beijing Tourism Bureau.
According to mainland Chinese media, Universal Beijing Resort will achieve full coverage of 5G networks. On Oct. 17, 2019, Alibaba Group and Universal Beijing Resort reached a strategic cooperation, which will widely use facial recognition technology in the area, and jointly create a digital benchmark for the global theme park industry, allowing visitors to “scan their faces and enjoy the park.”
In recent years, the CCP has vigorously developed the use of high-tech and big data to monitor people. This resort area may become a test site for comprehensive monitoring of tourists.

Other Cooperation and Interaction Between NBC and the CCP

In recent years, the cooperation between NBC Global Group and China has spanned multiple fields such as news, sports, video, entertainment, and tourism—all involving huge financial benefits.
For example, before the 2008 Beijing Olympics, China Mobile and NBC signed a memorandum of strategic cooperation for the Olympic Games to fully support NBC’s Olympics broadcast coverage.
On Oct. 22, 2015, NBC Universal and the Chinese tech company Baidu deepened their strategic cooperation on Baidu’s iQIYI video network platform and reached a new agreement. NBC will continue to license iQIYI’s large-scale movie content. On March 29, 2018, iQIYI was listed on NASDAQ in the United States, and launched a large advertisement in Times Square, New York City to celebrate its listing.
On Feb. 11, 2020, Huang Ping, the consul general of the Chinese consulate in New York City, visited the headquarters of NBC Sports Group in Stanford, Connecticut, saying, “I hope that NBC will show the world the rapid development of China again by broadcasting the Winter Olympics.” NBC has the exclusive U.S. broadcast rights for airing the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
The Chinese communist regime strictly controls media reports, film and television production, and broadcasting within its borders; the cultural and sports events presented by the regime are often a facade hiding its human rights violations. Therefore, the “window” that the CCP allows NBC to see through cannot reflect the real situation in mainland China.

NBC Smears The Epoch Times

On Aug. 27, 2019, the Wall Street Journal published a commentary article titled “NBC News Smears a Competitor” by Stephen Gregory, publisher of The Epoch Times in the United States. This article responds to a series of irresponsible and misleading attacks launched by NBC News and its sister channel MSNBC against The Epoch Times.
Gregory pointed out that NBC’s report was full of inaccurate information, even obvious errors and distorted facts. For example, NBC claimed The Epoch Times’ subscription advertisements were in fact ads promoting President Donald Trump. In June 2019, The Epoch Times published a response to questions asked by its reporters. But NBC chose to ignore basic facts and deliberately misrepresented The Epoch Times in its report.
In addition, NBC also slandered the meditation practice of Falun Gong in the article. Although its report mentioned the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, it downplayed the human rights abuses. In response, the Falun Dafa Information Center pointed out that NBC’s actions are consistent with the CCP’s intention to discredit Falun Gong.
Since the founding of The Epoch Times, it has continuously exposed human rights abuses committed by the Chinese regime. So the CCP has sought to silence it. Therefore, NBC’s smearing of The Epoch Times is exactly what the CCP wants.
China’s state-run Global Times immediately followed up on the NBC report with an article that parroted much of the content, and gloated over NBC discrediting Falun Gong.
On Aug. 20, 2019, The Epoch Times issued a statement: “The reality is that NBC News is inadvertently lending legitimacy to China’s ruling regime at a time when it is cracking down on its own citizens in Hong Kong.”
The statement urged NBC to cherish the freedom of the press, freedom of expression, and freedom of belief in American society, and to not endorse the CCP nor act as its mouthpiece.

Conclusion

In 2020, a pandemic is sweeping the globe. The Chinese Communist authorities concealed information in the early stages, delayed prevention and control, and since then have been manipulating the data and blocking real information, which has caused the tragedy of a worldwide pandemic and numerous deaths. This could have been prevented.
In such international health emergencies, the media should try their best to reveal the truth, monitor government departments, and provide objective and transparent information to the general public. If some international media are constrained by their desire to seek benefits from the CCP, they may cooperate with it and release one-sided information, give a false picture of the CCP, or even attack principled individuals or groups. Such news organizations are no different than the CCP’s own propaganda outlets.
Defending against dangerous viruses requires good hygiene and medical care. In addition, one needs to act with integrity and have an upright conscience.

Global Opinion Starts Shifting Against Beijing Amid Pandemic

April 28, 2020 Updated: April 28, 2020

Global opinion has started to shift against Beijing as an increasing number of leaders and officials have challenged or sought to seek accountability and transparency from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) over it’s handling of the pandemic.
Experts told The Epoch Times an international falling out is occurring and will only continue to ramp up as countries start to seriously rethink their relationship with Beijing. They said leaders are becoming more wary of the communist state due to how it responded to the outbreak, which originated in Wuhan.
Australia—in a bipartisan effort—recently called for an independent review into how Beijing dealt with the CCP virus, widely known as the novel coronavirus. Foreign Minister Marise Payne said the probe would require “international cooperation” and “has to be made a reality.” In wake of Payne’s remarks, Chinese ambassador Cheng Jingye threatened Australia with an “economic hit” if they did not back down. Payne later responded by criticizing and rejecting the ambassador’s threat.
In Britain, politicians such as Tom Tugendhat, a conservative parliament member and chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee have directly called out China for covering up the virus and hampering the global response by spreading lies—while also questioning if allowing Huawei’s 5G technology into the UK was the right call.
Downing Street officials say Beijing will face a “reckoning,” as reported by The Mail, while Britain’s intelligence community—MI6 and MI5—also believe the country needs to reassess its relationship with China.
CCP VIRUS SPECIAL COVERAGE
German Chancellor Angela Merkel has urged China to be “more transparent” about the origin story of the virus, saying that it would benefit the global response.
French President Emmanuel Macron said it would be “naive” to say China has handed the pandemic better than Western democracies, and that there is no such comparison.
In a letter dated April 22, the German interior ministry said Chinese diplomats approached the country’s officials to try and persuade them to make positive statements about Beijing’s response to the pandemic. The ministry noted that “the federal government has not complied with these requests.”
Downing Street has since removed China from its comparison virus charts which includes data from a number of other countries, over concerns the regime’s statistics were inaccurate.
In America, countless lawsuits have been filed, ranging from state attorney generalsU.S. law firms, to everyday Americans, who have sought to seek justice over China’s bungled response which they argue led to the global spread of the pandemic.
Carole Lieberman, a forensic expert witness and legal analyst, said countries around the world are waking up to the idea that the CCP may not have benign intentions, and that for some it is an “inconvenient truth because they want to keep their trade deals and other benefits.”
Countries are generally considered to be immune to lawsuits unless they come under the exception of their actions being akin to terrorism, Lieberman told The Epoch Times. Some of the probes are pursuing the origins of the CCP virus and whether it was intended to be a bioweapon, or if it was from China’s reckless laboratory conditions—which she noted rose to that level.
“Though China may not end up having to pay the trillions that lawsuits are seeking, their reputation has suffered an irreparable blow,” Lieberman said. “The whole world will be wary of anything to do with China for the foreseeable future.”
Internal government documents obtained by The Epoch Times have highlighted how the CCP purposefully underreported cases of the CCP virus and censored discussions of the outbreak, fueling the spread of the disease.
“For years, people have more or less let things like toxic pet food and baby products, carcinogenic products, shoddy manufacturing, and so on, slide by,” Lieberman continued.
“But, Coronavirus will be the straw that broke the camel’s back.”
Officials from a barrage of countries have publicly complained about receiving shoddy medical supplies they had bought from China in order to fight the pandemic. Among this list include Spain, the Czech Republic, Turkey, the Netherlands, Canada, and Ireland, and more. In one of the instances, rapid CCP virus tests from China failed to detect the virus accurately in 70-80 percent of all cases.
An April poll (pdf) by survey firm McLaughlin & Associates found that 75 percent of Americans felt the United States should end its dependence on China for medical imports.
Casey Fleming, chairman and CEO of intelligence and security strategy firm BlackOps Partners, said free world countries will start to join together to hold the CCP accountable “not only for the false response but also monetary losses and loss of life.”
“We need to expect China to try and control the narrative, shift blame, and use coercion in the process,” he told The Epoch Times.
The Epoch Times has documented stories of some Chinese citizens—including whistleblower doctors, citizen journalists, scholars, and business people—who have been silenced by the regime for exposing the truth.
In one of the more forceful actions in response to China, Japan is putting aside $2 billion of its stimulus money to pay companies to shift their production outside of the communist country, which ranks 177 out of 180 on press freedom in the 2019 Reporters Without Borders World Press Freedom Index.

Waking Up

It is “unquestionable” that more and more people are waking up to the realities of what the CCP is, according to Frank Gaffney, vice chairman of the Committee on the Present Danger: China.
“What country that has suffered at the hands of this Chinese Communist Party is going to think well of them, especially as the evidence shows that if this was not a weapon that they unleashed it certainly is serving as one,” he told The Epoch Times.
Gaffney, who was assistant secretary of defense for international security policy during the Reagan administration, said while it would be difficult to hold a foreign country like China fully accountable for its actions, “at least we’ll do some things that will hurt them for what they’ve done.”
“I think what you’re going to see is certainly decoupling in terms of supply chains, that’s beginning already,” he said. “I think there’s some rethinking that’s going on in terms of companies planning to do a lot of business with the Chinese.”
Meanwhile, a new policy in India requires foreign direct investments to now require government approval, which could further sour relations between China and India.
But it’s not just politicians and leaders who are speaking out against the CCP, everyday citizens are starting to voice much of the same sentiment.
As Americans struggle to combat a crisis not encountered before in their lives, an April 21 poll by the Pew Research Center found 66 percent of Americans now have a negative opinion of China—the highest percentage recorded since the center first began asking the question in 2005. These views were held similarly by both Democrats and Republicans.
In a UK YouGov poll conducted on April 17, a majority, 50 percent, voted that they did not trust “at all” the CCP virus death numbers reported by the Chinese government. The second-highest option, receiving 32 percent of the vote, was that they “don’t fully trust them.”
The CCP’s coverup, which has made the pandemic exponentially worse for the rest of the world, marks the awakening of citizens around the world to “fully understanding the true evil of Chinese Communism,” according to Fleming.
The growing sentiment against the CCP could cause a massive shift by American and Western companies to decouple from communist China and spread their supply chain risk around the world Fleming added, while also noting that U.S. national security policy is shifting, as seen in the new National Counterintelligence strategy.
“COVID-19 has forced the world to stay at home with loss of freedom and income and plenty of free time to watch the pandemic, how the CCP has responded, and the carnage it has caused,” Fleming said.
“It is natural for citizens and governments around the world to want to hold the violator responsible. By doing so, they will remove the cloak to the true evil of Communist China,” he added.

FEINSTEIN HAS SPENT HER ENTIRE POLITICAL LIFE STALKING THE HALLS OF CONGRESS SNIFFING OUT DEALS THAT PUT MULTIPLE FORTUNES IN HER HUSBAND, RICHARD BLUM’S POCKETS EVEN AS SHE SOLD OUT AMERICA

The deal would impose no review of human rights and impose no conditions for democratic reforms, supervised multi-party elections and such. All that, and more, is already a done deal with China, like the USSR a one-party Communist dictatorship that never produced a single product the United States needs. This has come about, in large part, due to U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, San Francisco Democrat.

After Feinstein was elected to the Senate in 1992, Blum continued profiting off their ties to China. A the same time, the freshman lawmaker was pitching herself as a “China hand” to colleagues, even once claiming “that in my last life maybe I was Chinese.” HARIS ALIC

IN THE November 2006 election, the voters demanded congressional ethics reform. And so, the newly appointed chairman of the Senate Rules Committee, Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., is now duly in charge of regulating the ethical behavior of her colleagues. But for many years, Feinstein has been beset by her own ethical conflict of interest, say congressional ethics experts.

Senator Who Employed

Chinese Spy Endorses

Joe Biden for President

A high-profile U.S. senator with professional and personal ties to China — including once employing one of its spies — is backing former Vice President Joe Biden amid mounting questions over his son’s business dealings with the communist regime.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), a former chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, announced her endorsement of the former vice president on Tuesday, claiming to have witnessed Biden’s “fortitude” and leadership during their overlapping tenures in Congress.
Feinstein said in a statement:
I’ve worked closely with Vice President Biden and I’ve seen firsthand his legislative ability, his statesmanship, and most importantly his moral fortitude (NO, IT’S NOT A JOKE, BUT THEN FEINSTEIN IS THE MOST SELF-SERVING CORRUPT POL IN U.S. HISTORY). During his time in Congress and in the White House, Joe Biden has been a tireless fighter for hard working (ILLEGALS) MEXICAN families.
BLOG: FEINSTEIN LOVES  BIDEN BECAUSE SHE WALLOWS IN CORRUPTION. BIDEN HAD SPENT HIS ENTIRE POLITICAL LIFE SUCKING OFF BRIBES.
“He’s a totally corrupt swamp thing, and here’s the worst part of his manifest corruption – he doesn’t seem to realize that he’s corrupt, if not personally than in terms of allowing his bum kid to leverage his position. He thinks it’s A-OK for his boy Hoover to cash in all over the globe. After all, that’s what you do, right? That’s part of the benefits package for being in the liberal elite. And all these people fussing and fighting about the paternity test-failing dirtbag getting rich are totally out of line. How dare they? HOW DARE THEY!”
He wants to raise taxes, open the borders, let you pay for illegal aliens’ sex changes, and spark a civil war by taking guns from the people who don’t commit crimes.

THE OLD WHORE FEINSTEIN IS NOT ONLY ONE OF THE MOST CORRUPT AND SELF-SERVING, SHE HAS BEEN A MAJOR INSTRUMENT IN THE FALL OF AMERICA AS SHE TUCKS THEIR BRIBES DEEP INTO THE BOTTOMLESS POCKETS OF HER PIMP HUSBAND RICHARD BLUM!

America’s China Dependency

Syndrome

Lessons from the USSR.
April 28, 2020
Lloyd Billingsley

“Made in China” has been a familiar label on products for years but it wasn’t until March of 2020 that Americans learned of the perils that might entail. China threatened to impose export controls on pharmaceuticals that would plunge America into “the mighty sea of coronavirus.
Sen. Marco Rubio told reporters the United States was “dangerously reliant” on China for critical goods, including parts for technologies needed to fight COVID-19. Since 2004, Chinese pharmaceutical companies have been supplying 80-90 percent of U.S. antibiotics. Americans might wonder how they landed in such a dependent position, and that invites a comparison with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
The world’s first socialist state, established in the world’s largest nation, never produced a single product the West wanted or needed. For all its vast natural resources, the USSR was an economic basket case, and by the mid-1980s in serious trouble.
Suppose that some U.S. senator had then offered a trade deal that ignored the regime’s human rights violations and allowed state-owned Soviet companies to manufacture goods for the American market, all marked “Made In the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.” These would include vital pharmaceuticals and the deal would allow the use of Soviet steel, and Soviet labor, in major infrastructure projects in the United States.
On a visit to Shanghai in 2006 Feinstein told James Areddy of the Wall Street Journal, “I’ve been coming to China for 31 years, so I’m not a newcomer.” That would put her first visit in 1975, one year before the death of the Great Helmsman Mao Zedong his own self. Feinstein was then a San Francisco supervisor, and as mayor struck up a sister-city relationship with Shanghai. On the 2006 trip Feinstein spent time with former Shanghai mayor Zhu Rongji, “a good friend.”
Areddy asked about the Tiananmen Square massacre then turning 21. Feinstein said it was a “a great setback for China in the view of the world,” a public-relations problem for China, not a human rights issue. “It was just the PLA (People’s Liberation Army)” and China “learned lessons from it.” Still, Feinstein admitted, “we did not discuss it.”
As Ben Weingarten noted in the Federalist in 2018, Sen. Feinstein’s ties to China are “way deeper” than any Chinese spy in her office. Feinstein maintained a “strictly apologist line” on China’s human rights atrocities, and Feinstein’s husband has “profited handsomely” during her career in the Senate. Sen. Feinstein “served as a key intermediary between China and the U.S. government, while serving on committees whose work would be of keen interest to the PRC.” For two decades and three election cycles, Feinstein harbored a Chinese spy who fed “political intelligence” to Beijing’s Communist regime. Since that article, the dossier has grown longer.
As Rosemarie Ho noted in The Nation, Dianne Feinstein failed to support the democracy protesters in Hong Kong. When the coronavirus hit these shores, Feinstein was uncritical of China and one of the first to cry “racism” against those who pointed out the pandemic’s origin in Wuhan, China.
Ben Weingarten wondered how a motivated and empowered prosecutor would operate if tasked to explore “any links and/or coordination” between the Chinese government, Feinstein and individuals associated with her office. Such an investigation never took place with Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the most servile apologist of Communist China since Anna Louise Strong, and certainly the most influential. On the other hand, Donald Trump was thoroughly investigated for “collusion” with Russia, which turned out to be a hoax.
It was the president’s tweet that brought Feinstein’s Chinese spy to public attention. President Trump has access to all U.S. intelligence, a major reason domestic and foreign foes alike are desperately trying to remove him from office. In his April 19 press conference, the president called the upper reaches of the DOJ and FBI “human scum,” and their inattention to Feinstein, Hillary Clinton and other high-profile Democrats confirms that the rot continues.
President Trump is now throwing down with the invisible enemy of coronavirus and making progress despite opposition from Democrats and their media allies. As they parrot Chinese propaganda, the president has already started the decoupling process.
“We cannot outsource our independence,” the president said last Monday. “We cannot be reliant on foreign nations. I’ve been saying this for a long time. If we’ve learned one thing it’s let's do it here, let’s build it here, let’s make it here.”
As with the USSR, we don’t need China for anything. And as Chuck Berry said, anything you want they got right here in the USA.
