Anarchy Engulfs Minneapolis: Police, Firefighters Stand Down As Rioters Burn City to the Ground

[WARNING: This post contains some strong language]
Our own Julio Rosas is on the ground to cover the chaos that is engulfing the city of Minneapolis. Protests have erupted here and across the country over the horrific death of George Floyd. Floyd was arrested on a forgery charge, placed in handcuffs, and then an officer placed his knee on his neck for nearly ten minutes. Floyd is heard begging with police that he couldn’t breathe.
All four officers involved were fired. Yet, what happened last night was anything but justice for Floyd. This is an outrageous incident. The video footage is ghastly but burning down the AutoZone and looting en masse does nothing to address this situation. You all saw footage of the Target that was virtually cleared out.  One looter appears to have been shot by a pawn shop owner.
Rosas documented the conditions on the ground throughout the day and found that the looting activity has not decreased. Of course, Black Lives Matter activists are there and based on reports from Rosas, they’re trying to stop the looting.
"From what I've seen, there are three groups of people that are out right now,” he said.
“There are Black Lives Matters protesters who are only interested in peacefully protesting, there are those who are part of the protest and also have participated in the looting, and there are those who are just interested in looting the nearby stores and rioting against police,” he added. A lot of this he documented on his Twitter account.
Rosas added, “I have seen Black Lives Matter protesters repeatedly tried to stop rioters from causing trouble. However, the rioters appear to outnumber those who are just interested in peacefully protesting.”
As nightfall descends on Minneapolis, it seems that the looting and other felonious activity will continue. The city has asked for the National Guard to be deployed, but let’s not forget that Guard units were dispatched to Baltimore after the Freddie Gray died in police custody. It was still intense.
Rosas was even caught in the fray, being shot with a pepper ball by police. He said he was lying on a hill as law enforcement approached a group of rioters hurling objects at police; Rosas was nearby. He had his hands up and he was still hit by police.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Justice are investigating this matter, with President Trump calling this a top priority.
UPDATE: Rosas was interviewed on Fox News' Ingraham Angle tonight. As the media spot concluded, the situation around him was rapidly devolving. Stay safe, man.
UPDATE II: Minneapolis Police HQ in 3rd Precinct has been evacuated, overrun by rioters. Where is the National Guard?
UPDATE III: National Guard supposedly set to deploy 500 troops, which doesn't seem like it will be enough. The city is in total chaos. Police and firefighters have reportedly been told to stand down and residents are fleeing.
UPDATE IV: Julio has covered many protests, some with very hostile crowds. He's never seen anything like what he's witnessing in Minneapolis.

Minneapolis, Minn. — Riots once again broke out in Minneapolis on Thursday night in response to George Floyd death's while he was in Minneapolis police custody. Videos from bystanders showed an officer kneeling down on Floyd's neck while he was handcuffed and on the ground.
As I previously told Matt, the day saw three types of groups who had gathered outside the Minneapolis police's 3rd precinct building. There were Black Lives Matters protesters who are only interested in peacefully protesting, there were those who are part of the protest and also had participated in the looting. The last group comprised of people who were just interested in looting the nearby stores and rioting against police.
But as the day turned into night, those who just wanted to protest left the area and those who wanted to cause destruction and mayhem increased in number.
The situation boiled over after the rioters tore down the fencing around the police building and police responded with tear gas and flashbangs. Rioters responded by throwing projectiles, such as rocks, bottles, and fireworks.
It was then decided for the officers to evacuate the building and convoy out of the area. Rioters chased down the vehicles and continued to throw projectiles. Once the area was completely cleared of law enforcement, rioters began to wreak havoc on the precinct. They smashed windows and were trying to set the building on fire.
At one point, the mob was able to break open one of the doors and get inside the building, but officers had left them a surprise. Before the officers left, they had set off a large number of tear gas canisters inside, prompting many of the rioters to quickly exit the building.
The 3rd precinct building was eventually set ablaze and rioters rejoiced, taking pictures and celebrating in front of the burning building.

Multiple buildings in Minneapolis burned through the night Wednesday as protesters turned to riots over the death of George Floyd, who died Monday after a police officer was seen on video putting his knee on his neck, according to reports.
Protesters set fire to businesses, including an Autozone and Cub Foods, while an apartment complex under construction was also reportedly damaged by flames.
In addition to several buildings being lit on fire, stores like Target store on Lake Street were ransacked by dozens of apparent looters who stole televisions and groceries, according to videos shared to social media by Fox 9 reporter Karen Scullin.
Other reported looters were seen at Dollar Tree, a liquor store, and a tobacco store, reported ABC 5.
The protests came as Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey called for the arrest of the police officer seen in a video kneeling on Floyd’s neck before his death.
The mayor urged Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman to file charges against the officer, whom the city identified as Derek Chauvin. In a video taken by a witness, Chauvin can be seen kneeling and putting his weight on the neck of George Floyd, who struggled and said he could not breathe.
The Minneapolis Police Department fired Chauvin and three other officers involved in the arrest — J. Alexander Kueng, Thomas Lane, and Tou Thao.
“Why is the man who killed George Floyd not in jail?” Frey asked during a news conference Wednesday. “If you had done it or I had done it, we would be behind bars right now and I cannot come up with an answer to that question.”
The mayor said his call for charges against Chauvin is based on the footage from the scene.
The UPI contributed to this report.
