Green New Deal, Healthcare for Illegals: Soros-Funded Groups Push Dems to Use Virus to Achieve Progressive Wish List

A coalition of progressive groups, many funded by billionaire George Soros, is sponsoring a “People’s Bailout” community organizing outfit nudging Congress to use the next stimulus package during the coronavirus crisis to enact reforms that would fundamentally transform American society by achieving longtime progressive aims.
In the spirit of the repurposed progressive anthem of never letting a crisis go to waste, the suddenly created People’s Bailout group is demanding that the next stimulus package adhere to “five principles” the group says are endorsed by “nearly 1,000 organizations, unions, and community leaders, and nearly 100 members of Congress.”
Those “principals” encompass such far-left wish list items as government healthcare for illegal immigrants, required $15 per hour minimum wage, enhanced union collective bargaining and government regulation of the board of directors of private companies to ensure “worker representation.”
Also within the “five principles” list are “direct sizable cash payments to every person” and the use of stimulus legislation to push what would amount to a massive “green” new deal.
The “green” section calls for public funds to (below are direct quotes):
- expand wind and solar power
- build clean and affordable public transit
- weatherize our buildings
- manufacture more clean energy goods
- expand public services that support climate resilience,
- [reduce] climate emissions and toxic pollution.
Using progressive key words, the group exclaims that a “people’s bailout should be rooted in justice” and “we demand the bailout provide a just recovery.”
The group is pushing the #PeoplesBailout hashtag and has gone so far as to provide activists with wording to use in social media posts directed at lawmakers. The group’s website also provides exact scripting for people to read when calling their lawmakers to demand the “five principles” be incorporated in stimulus legislation.
The People’s Bailout held an online May Day rally and now wants activists to get further involved by displaying banners and forming car caravans.
The website promotes a “helpful slideshow and handout on key tactics to use” to push promote the transformative agenda.
The “helpful slideshow” and “tactics” linked on the site are from the Ruckus Society, which specializes in the disruption tactic of so-called direct action.
Ruckus provided training and resources to the Occupy movement. It’s been funded by the Soros-financed Tides Foundation.
Ruckus leaders infamously helped to spark the 1999 World Trade Organization protests in Seattle that turned violent.
The Occupy-Ruckus link is instructive. Besides Ruckus, Occupy was also backed by groups like MoveOn.org and the Working Families Party.
The Soros-funded MoveOn.org and the Working Families Party are two of 13 listed “sponsors” of the People’s Bailout group.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, one People’s Bailout sponsor is the Sunrise Movement which helped craft the socialist utopian Green New Deal blueprint introduced by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Sunrise was in part inspired by the activism of Occupy Wall Street, Black Lives Matter and the radical immigration group United We Dream.
Another sponsor is the Indivisible Project, which has partnered with Organizing for Action, the activist group that morphed from Barack Obama’s first presidential campaign. Breitbart News extensively reported that Indivisible leaders are openly associated with groups financed by Soros.
Indivisible yesterday endorsed Joe Biden for president. The group’s leaders say they are engaged with Biden’s campaign on such policies as universal voting by mail.
The other 13 sponsors of the People’s Bailout include the Center for Popular Democracy, Climate Justice Alliance, Greenpeace and the Soros-funded Sierra Club.
The People’s Bailout also boasts over 1,000 “signatories” which reads like a who’s who of far-left activist groups, including a large number of groups funded by Soros as well as the Soros-financed Tides Foundation.
The People’s Bailout is not alone. Many of the same far-left, Big Government proposals are also being peddled by other influential progressive organizations for Democrats to include in the next round of emergency stimulus funding, which the groups say should be at least as large as the $2.2 trillion CARES Act.
The Center for American Progress (CAP), which functions as an idea factory for the Democratic Party, compiled its own wish list for the next round of recovery legislation.
Like the People’s Bailout, CAP wants those defined as essential workers to get paid minimum wages of at least $15 dollars and they must have the ability to join a union.
Progressives have long pushed minimum wage hikes despite warnings that such proposals could lead to disastrous economic consequences.
The federal minimum wage hike is a progressive plan that in the past was marketed as a “living wage.” The living wage scheme, deployed in the past locally, has a history of hurting small businesses, negatively impacting local economies and decreasing employment opportunities for low income workers. Indeed, the living wage has monumentally failed during numerous high profile trials.
Increased abortion funding, stimulus checks for illegals, permanent housing guarantees, mail-in voting for elections and more union access also make their way into the CAP proposals.

said Breitbart News editor Joel Pollack. “You said that George Soros asked
Barack Obama to have his Justice Department investigate somebody?”
“We’re — that’s going to
come out in a lawsuit in the near future,” responded Alan Dershowitz. “Yeah.”
“Wow, well, we look
forward to hearing more about that new. . .”

Dershowitz said. “People whisper to presidents all the time. Presidents whisper

does it, but it’s common, and we shouldn’t think that it’s unique to any
particular president. I have in my possession the actual 302 form [an FBI
record of an interview], which documents this issue, and it will, at the right
time, come out. But I’m not free to disclose it now because it’s a case that’s
not yet been filed.”
That exchange appeared on Breitbart
on Sunday and
on Monday was quickly picked up by Lifezette, WND and other independent sites,
with one headlining the story “Dershowitz
Blows Up Washington.” The Fox News story appeared about 5 p.m. Monday, but at this writing CNN, MSNBC and the rest of the establishment media have yet to weigh in.

By the end of the day,
the target of the Soros-inspired investigation remained unknown. On the other
hand, that was hardly the only intrigue surrounding George Soros, described by
Pollack as a “billionaire left-wing financier.” As Matthew Vadum noted in the
2016 Frontpage article “Arrest George Soros,” there’s a bit more to
the man.
“Soros, the billionaire
speculator, is the preeminent funder of the activist Left in America,” Vadum
explained, “which means he is the Number One funder of the domestic terrorism
that is part and parcel of the Left.” Soros calls America “the main obstacle to
a stable and just world order” and says European-style socialism “is exactly
what we need.” Soros also funds “open-borders groups in order to corrode the
nation’s culture and change its electorate.”
If this “radical
ringleader” wants the president of the United States to investigate someone,
that is a matter of some concern. In similar style, Soros invites inquiries
such as John Solomon’s “US Embassy pressed
Ukraine to drop probe of George Soros group during 2016 election,” in The Hill last
March.
According to Solomon, the
Obama administration pressured the Ukrainian government to back off its
investigation of both the U.S. aid and anti-corruption groups such as AntAC. As
it turned out, the group Ukrainian law enforcement was probing “was co-funded
by the Obama administration and liberal mega-donor George Soros.” And it was
collaborating with the FBI agents investigating then-Trump campaign manager
Paul Manafort.
As Ukrainian officials
told Solomon, the message to Ukraine’s prosecutors was clear: “Don’t target
AntAC in the middle of an America presidential election in which Soros was
backing Hillary Clinton to succeed another Soros favorite, Barack Obama.” After
the Obama DOJ launched the Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Initiative, “the State
Department, Justice Department and FBI outsourced some of its work in Ukraine
to groups funded by Soros.”
On the other hand,
consider “The George Soros
Conspiracy Theory at the Heart of the Ukraine Scandal,” by Dan Spinelli of the
leftist Mother Jones. Soros here emerges a “liberal billionaire”
and “a favorite bogeyman on the right due to his support for progressive causes
at home and political reforms abroad.” What “turbocharged” Donald Trump’s
interest in Ukraine was “specifically, the work of John Solomon” who “authored
a series disputed articles about Joe Biden’s activities in Ukraine and
Soros’ interactions with Obama administration officials.”
As for conspiracy
theories, Spinelli says Solomon is a “longtime client” of Joseph DiGenova’s law
firm. No word about the person Soros wanted the Obama DOJ to investigate, and
why. Puzzled observers might wonder if POTUS 44 could stand some investigation
his own self.
As the late Barry Rubin
noted in Silent Revolution: How the Left Rose to Political Power
and Cultural Dominance, on Obama’s watch tens of millions of Americans were “turned
into anti-Americans.” The goal was “to convince Americans the exact opposite of
what their experience proved: that the country had fundamentally failed and the
old leftist solutions were the answer.” On the other hand, says Rubin, “not a
single serious investigation was conducted about Obama’s earlier life.”
In Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama, official biographer
David Garrow, a Pulitzer Prize winner, says the president’s defining Dreams
from My Father is a novel and the author a composite character. And
after some 800 pages Garrow cites a reporter that the president’s story isn’t
exactly true. The novel was something that the former Barry Soetoro and David
Axelrod put together, to avoid the “politically radioactive” Communist Frank
Marshall Davis, who gets a lot of ink in the Dreams account.
Since Garrow left the key
at the back door, we know the truth about the composite character president. We
also know that the composite character and George Soros have a similar
destructive vision for America. We don’t know the identity of the person Soros
wanted the Obama DOJ to investigate, and why. When Alan Dershowitz gets around to
filing his lawsuit, that revelation really could blow up Washington.

In addition, Dershowitz reflected on his experience in the
impeachment trial of President Donald Trump, noting that his argument had been
grotesquely distorted by CNN — so much so that he could, if he wanted to, sue
the network.
CNN — and House impeachment managers — claimed Dershowitz said
that the president can do whatever he wants to do, as long as he claims to have
believed he was acting in the public interest. Dershowitz had specifically said
that criminal-like behavior was indeed impeachable.
Dershowitz also said that former Trump associate Roger Stone
deserved a new trial, given new revelations about the extreme political bias of
the jury foreperson, who opposed both Trump and Stone.
Moreover, Dershowitz said that if Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) won
the Democratic presidential nomination, it might force him to leave the
Democratic Party and campaign against him nationwide.

American a 2020 ballot and have people come to your house to pick up those

tried that in Arizona for the 2016 election. But the state passed a law against
it, against what is known as “community ballot collection,” and the Supreme
Court, thankfully, upheld the law, but only after
the depraved 9th Circuit ruled against it.
But this is
what Democrats want; this is how Democrats are exploiting the coronavirus pandemic
and all the death and economic destruction that goes with it… To push terrible
ideas like nationwide vote-by-mail and community ballot collection.
Anyone who
believes in election and ballot integrity understands that the safest way to
vote, to ensure a legal and orderly process, is in-person voting with a
government ID.
Willy-nilly
vote by mail is a terrible idea. My God, that would mean mailing ballots to
every single registered voter in the country… But only for now. You know that
eventually, Democrats will demand that everyone of voting age is mailed a
ballot.
So what you
would have are some 150 million presidential voting ballots floating around the
country… How many would go to the wrong address? How easy would it be to vote
twice: once in person and once by mail? How easy would it be to vote using
someone else’s ballots?
Democrats
also want to provide “pre-paid postage for
mail-in ballots and extending the postmark deadline to Election Day.”

Thursday’s broadcast of CBS’ “Late Show,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)
stated that Democrats hope to get more funding for voting by mail into the
coronavirus funding bill, and that Democrats want at least $2 billion “to
protect the integrity of our election-critical infrastructure as well as to
promote voting by mail.”
Pelosi
said, “We had $400 million to promote voting by mail, direct, all of that.
However, it was not nearly enough. We need at least five times that much in
order to really meet the needs, to protect the integrity of our
election-critical infrastructure as well as to promote voting by mail. It is
absolutely essential at this time. … So, in this next bill, we hope to get more
resources to vote by mail. And if you’re doing that, you have to have funds for
the Postal Service as well, which he has objected to.”

Voters are Immigrants

I'm not anti-immigrant. I came to this country as a child.
But there's a huge difference between a reasonable level of
immigration, in keeping with the nation's history and traditions, and a
transformative flood that washes everything away. What we've
had is effectively open borders migration at a level most people don't
understand and can't even comprehend. That helps explain the extreme radicalism
that has overtaken the country.
When the population increasingly has little connection to the
country's history and traditions, and little investment in it, the national
fabric breaks down, politics becomes tribal, and all bets are off.
More than 23 million U.S. immigrants will be eligible to vote in
the 2020 presidential election, making up roughly 10% of the nation’s overall
electorate – both record highs, according to Pew Research Center
estimates based on Census Bureau data.
The number of immigrant eligible voters has increased steadily
over the past 20 years, up 93% since 2000. By comparison, the U.S.-born
eligible voter population grew more slowly (by 18%) over the same period, from
181 million in 2000 to 215 million in 2020.
Just as in the UK, this was part of a deliberate strategy to
transform the country and open the Overton window.
Most immigrant eligible voters are either Hispanic or Asian,
though they hail from countries across the globe. Immigrants from Mexico make
up the single largest group, at 16% of foreign-born voters.
And thus knowing the name of the current El Presidente becomes a
major theme of the Democrat race.
At 7.5 million, Hispanics account for 34% of all immigrant
eligible voters in 2018, slightly up since 2000. The 6.9 million Asian
immigrant eligible voters make up 31% of the foreign-born electorate, also
slightly up since 2000. White immigrant eligible voters (4.8 million) are
the third largest racial and ethnic group, making up 22% of the immigrant
electorate.
Keep in mind that a lot of the "white" immigrants might
actually be Arab Muslims.
Among Hispanic eligible voters in 2016, about half (53%) of
immigrants voted, compared with 46% of the U.S. born, a pattern that has
persisted since 2000. Among Asian eligible voters in 2016, 52% of immigrants
voted, compared with 45% of the U.S. born.
In other words, it's a matter of time until Texas goes the way
of California. That's the real reason, and not some of the current
obsessions of the conservative movement, that the 2016 election was so urgent.
If we don't change this, all the other stuff that makes for great clickbait and
talk radio fare really won't matter.
Out of California’s 25.9 million eligible voters, 21% (5.5
million) are foreign born, the highest share of any state through Super Tuesday
and in the nation.
This will end up being America. Period.
And no, the South won't hold either.
Since 2000, the states with the fastest growing immigrant eligible
voter populations have been Georgia, Minnesota and North Carolina. All three
have seen their numbers of immigrant eligible voters nearly triple between 2000
and 2018. Georgia increased by 193% during this time, the nation’s fastest
growth.
Notice how few GOP governors were willing to take a stand against
refugee resettlement. This should have been the dominant outrage issue for
conservatives. Instead, few even know that this happened. But everyone knows
the latest conspiracy theories out of Washington D.C. handfed by political
operatives to social media stars and bloggers.
This is how we lose America.
Hans von Spakovsky: DOJ Should Sue States Registering
Non-Citizens to Vote

Hans von Spakovsky, manager of the Heritage Foundation’s
Election Law Reform Initiative and a senior legal fellow of the Meese Center
for Legal and Judicial Studies, said Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband
should sue states illegally registering non-citizens to vote. He offered his
remarks in an interview on Friday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart
News Tonight with host Rebecca Mansour and special guest host Rick
Manning.
Left-wing and Democrat advocacy for abolition of the electoral
college is part of a broader plan that includes registration of non-citizens —
including illegal aliens — to vote, explained von Spakovsky.
Mansour noted New York Democrats’ plan to automatically register to
vote all residents applying for driver’s licenses — which including
non-citizens and illegal aliens — unless they “opt-out.”
“This is part and parcel of that whole system-wide movement to
make sure that people who are not citizens are registering [to vote] and not
getting caught or prosecuted for it, and [then] switching [presidential
elections] a national popular vote system so that all those votes will help win
elections.”
LISTEN:
Von Spakovsky added, “Every single U.S. attorney around the
country ought to be investigating and prosecuting … aliens who are
registering and voting. They’re doing it all over the country. So far, only two
U.S. attorneys — one in North Carolina [and] one in Texas — have brought any
kind of cases like that. [U.S. attorneys in] the rest of the states … are
ignoring these cases and not doing anything about it.”
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) can help improve the
accuracy of states’ voter rolls, explained von Spakosvky, by cross-referencing
state databases with its own records.
“[DHS} ought to be going through its records and trying to
compare its database with state voter registration lists across the country to
help the states find, again, non-citizens who are illegally registered to vote.
And that’s not really happening, either, that I’m aware of.”
Von Spakosvky advised, “What [Eric Dreiband] can do is use the
Motor Voter law — that National Voter Registration Act — to sue states that
aren’t properly cleaning up their voter rolls and maintaining the accuracy of
their voter rolls those cases they ought to be filing them because there are
plenty of states that aren’t doing what they’re supposed to be doing under the
law.”

Voting integrity group finds millions of inactive registrations
One of the standard jokes about Chicago politics is that a lot of
people who voted Republican during their lives start voting Democrat after
their deaths. Contrary to Democrats’ obsession with voter suppression, the
truth is that voter fraud is
real and it is, or should be, a serious concern. Thanks to Judicial
Watch, we’re learning that currently there are at
least 2.5 million inactive registrations up
for grabs around America:
Judicial Watch announced today it is continuing its efforts to
force states and counties across the nation to comply with the National Voter
Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA),
by sending notice-of-violation
letters to 19 large counties in five states that it intends to sue
unless the jurisdictions take steps to comply with the law and remove
ineligible voter registrations within 90 days. Section 8 of the National Voter
Registration Act requires jurisdictions to take reasonable efforts to remove
ineligible registrations from its rolls.
Despite successful litigation by Judicial Watch to bring counties
and states into compliance with the National Voter Registration Act, voter
registration lists across the country remain significantly out of date.
According to Judicial Watch’s analysis of data released by the U.S. Election
Assistance Commission (EAC) this year, there are 378 counties nationwide that
have more voter registrations than citizens living there and old enough to
vote, i.e., counties where registration rates exceed 100%. These 378
counties combined had about 2.5 million registrations over the 100%-registered
mark, which is a drop of about one million from Judicial Watch’s previous
analysis of voter registration data. Although San Diego County
removed 500,000 inactive names from voter rolls following Judicial Watch’s
settlement with Los Angeles County, San Diego still has a registration rate of
117% and has one of the highest registration rates in the country.
These inactive voters are not just extra paper cluttering up files
in various county offices. Instead, explained Tom Fitton, Judicial Watch’s
president, they expose American elections to the risks of significant
corruption:
“Dirty voting rolls can mean dirty elections and Judicial Watch
will insist, in court if necessary, that states follow federal law to clean up
their voting rolls,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “Previous
Judicial Watch lawsuits have already led to major cleanups in California,
Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio – but more needs to be done. It is common sense
that voters who die or move away be removed from the voting rolls.”
Fitton’s concerns take on special resonance when one considers
that California counties are among the worst culprits. This is especially true
in Central and Southern California, both regions with high populations of
illegal immigrants and legal green cardholders. After all, as Hillary and her
supporters never stop reminding us, she may have lost the Electoral College,
but she won the popular vote. And while voter fraud is
bipartisan, it’s still interesting to note that, per a post-election
analysis, Hillary’s meaningless popular vote victory came from . . . California:
As we noted in
this space earlier, while Clinton's overall margin looks
large and impressive, it is due to Clinton's huge margin of victory in one
state — California — where she got a whopping 4.3 million more votes than
Trump.
California is the only state, in fact, where Clinton's margin of
victory was bigger than President Obama's in 2012 — 61.5% vs. Obama's 60%.

If you take California out of the popular vote equation, then
Trump wins the rest of the country by 1.4 million votes. And if California
voted like every other Democratic state — where Clinton averaged 53.5% wins —
Clinton and Trump end up in a virtual popular vote tie.
Because California is a one-party state, it’s possible that all of
Hillary’s votes were legitimate. And it’s also possible that, with a lot of
deadwood in the country registrars’ offices, they were not. Ultimately,
everyone benefits when county registrars follow the law and maintain accurate,
up-to-date records.
“Furthermore, the much-quoted estimate of 11 million

Two-Party Democracy in the U.S.?
It used to
be that legal immigrants would divide their votes once they became citizens.
But that was then.
Few seem willing to admit it, but mass immigration appears to be
killing democracy in the United States. Two-party democracy
withstood the unprecedented mass immigration of the 1870-to-1914 period because
the European immigrants tended, for one reason or another, to vote for both
parties. That is not true today. In the 19th century, newcomers voted along
religious lines to a remarkable degree: Irish Catholics 80 percent Democrat and
all Catholics 70 percent Democrat. But after the Civil War, Germans and
Scandinavians, heavily Lutheran, voted Republican, as English Canadian and
British immigrants did. In the famous turning-point presidential election of
1896, urban working-class immigrants tended to vote Republican, organized by
the active and powerful political machines in big cities like New York,
Philadelphia, and Chicago. Very few in the mass migration of that day moved to
the American South, which remained solidly Democrat. The two-party system
survived throughout most of the country as both parties had urban political
machines that provided social services to immigrants.
The present massive wave of immigration that began in the 1970s,
largely as a result of the extended family clause in the 1965 Kennedy
immigration reform bill, has had remarkably different results. The new
immigrants are voting overwhelmingly Democrat: Hispanics 2 to 1, Asians about
70 percent (all election figures from the Pew Research
Center). The children of Asian immigrants voted 82 percent for Barack
Obama in 2008. In addition, black Americans who used to vote Republican now
vote 90 percent or more Democrat, as do black immigrants.
California not long ago was a state Republicans could win. Two
presidents, Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan, came from California and major
offices such as governor were regularly won by Republicans. Today California is
a permanently blue state, with its wealth of electoral votes. Its U.S.
senators, governor, and most of its members of Congress are Democrats.
Democrats have a supermajority in both houses of the Legislature and have
changed the constitution so that party primaries have been banned in favor of
“open” primaries in which Republicans are likely not to finish higher than
third, thus not making the November ballot. In the last two U.S. Senate races,
2016 and 2018, voters were offered Democrat No. 1 and Democrat No. 2 as
choices. Unsurprisingly, Democrats won both elections, and one of the
winners, Kamala Harris,
is now running for president.
The demographic tidal wave of mostly Third World immigrants who
vote heavily Democrat is now running legally at a million a year, an all-time
record, and is turning red states purple and then blue. Arizona
is going, Colorado and Georgia are going, Virginia is gone, North Carolina is
tipping, and Florida is a dead heat but the immigration trends
(south-of-the-border Latinos and Puerto Ricans) are against the GOP. Even Texas
is drifting leftward as Latinos bid to become a solid majority there. There is
the myth, of course — offered by members of the Bush family — that Hispanics
will see the light and begin voting like Indiana Republicans. In
fact, Hispanics have voted Democrat since 1960, and they went for Obama in
2008 by 67-31 percent and for Hillary Clinton in 2016 by 66-28 percent. So much
for the Bush theory. Asians voted 77 percent for Obama in 2012 and 79 percent
for Clinton in 2016. So much for the two-party system.
Furthermore, the much-quoted estimate of 11 million undocumented
aliens in the U.S. may be woefully short of the truth. A new study by Yale

The two-party system in the U.S. has been healthy since 1796, when
Thomas Jefferson took on John Adams in the presidential contest. They met again
in 1800 in a more famous showdown, by which time the earliest political parties
had formed and taken on ideological hues that still exist today. The ideal
situation for a healthy democracy and a workable two-party system is a stable
population. If the population is stable (and growing slowly), each party has an
opportunity to persuade the public of its merits. That opportunity is
disappearing quickly because the population is not stable. We are not
far from the time when the U.S. will have a Latino majority and will,
regrettably, be a one-party state. Apparently, that is what Democrats want.

Progressive organizations, many
backed by billionaire activist George Soros, are at the front lines of a
campaign advocating for a “vote by mail” system in the upcoming presidential
election, citing fears that the Chinese coronavirus pandemic makes it too dangerous
to vote in person.
President
Donald Trump warned that voting by mail would hurt the Republican Party,
lambasting Democrat proposals for more money in the coronavirus stimulus bill
to fund absentee and vote-by-mail options.
“The things
they had in there were crazy,” Trump said. “They had things – levels
of voting that, if you ever agreed to it, you’d never have a Republican elected
in this country again.”
Analysts have
posited that such proposals help the Democratic Party. Republicans
specifically fear the prospect of voter
fraud, since mail-in voting would be much harder to authenticate.
Soros’s Open
Society Foundations have long sought to change the way Americans vote,
also funding groups looking to
expand the use of electronic and online voting systems nationwide.
Leading the
mail-in ballot charge is the Brennan Center for Justice, located at NYU School
of Law. The Brennan Center is heavily financed by Soros’s Open Society
Foundations and is the recipient of numerous Open Society grants. Breitbart News previously reported the Brennan Center was
listed in leaked Open Society Foundations documents as receiving funds
specifically earmarked for “litigation to expand access to registration and
improve ease of voting.”
Alongside the
Brennan Center are a slew of progressive groups tied to Soros money that are
working overtime to push mail-in voting. Some of the groups are using the
coronavirus crisis to advocate permanent changes to the way Americans vote.
The Brennan
Center released a blueprint for voting reform, in
response to the coronavirus pandemic, that has been widely cited by news media
as making a central argument for a universal vote-by-mail option.
The Brennan
document was spotlighted by such outlets as the New York Times, Washington Post, Axios, Politico, the Guardian, and
Reuters among many others.
Democrat
Sens. Amy Klobuchar (MN) and Chris Coons (DE) cited the Brennan Center’s
coronavirus voting plan in a letter to House and Senate leaders, urging extra
funding for the scheme. Klobuchar and Coons are among over a dozen
Democrat senators who introduced a bill last month to allow for the widespread
mail-in ballots, along with other updated voting measures for the upcoming
presidential election. Democrat Reps. Suzan DelBene (WA), Earl Blumenauer (OR),
and Jamie Raskin (MD) introduced a companion bill in the
House.
The Brennan
Center’s plan calls for a “universal vote-by-mail option for all voters.” It
advocates for “inactive and recently purged voters (who may have been
improperly removed from the rolls)” to be sent provisional ballots by mail if
they request a mail-in ballot.
The Brennan
blueprint calls for expanded online voter registration and allows for mail-in
ballots to be processed prior to the close of polls on Election Day.
The document
lobbies for polling place modification and preparation including “same-day
registration, real-time address updates, and provisional balloting for certain
individuals.” Brennan doesn’t define which “certain individuals” should receive
same-day registration.
Brennan also
advocates expanded early voting, with states offering at least two weeks of
early in-person voting or a minimum of five days.
“This would
be a massive undertaking but I think it’s absolutely necessary to make sure
that we are prepared to run our elections in November, and I think all the
problems we have been having in primaries in the last few weeks is evidence we
need to start now,” said Lawrence Norden, the
director of Election Reform at the Brennan Center and one of the report’s
authors.
The
Soros-funded Brennan Center’s mail-in ballot plan was weaponized by the Stand Up America
activist group, which launched a nationwide program urging Americans to nudge
Congress to fund the voting changes. The group’s activities reportedly
resulted in more than 19,000 calls to congressional offices in one day alone.

several million dollars into Sixteen Thirty Fund.
The massively
Soros-funded American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which routinely partners
with Brennan, has been pumping materials urging coronavirus voting
legislation that pushes mail-in voting.
Soros’s Open
Society Foundations donated $50 million to the
ACLU. The Brennan Center has been the recipient of numerous grants from Soros’s Open
Society Foundations totaling over $7,466,000 from 2000 to 2010.
Meanwhile, a
coalition of progressive groups are reportedly mounting a multimillion-dollar
campaign to not only change the presidential election system to mail-in voting
during coronavirus, but to keep the mail-in balloting as part of the permanent
way Americans will vote in the future.
The other
groups in the mail-in advocacy coalition include the National Association of
Non-Partisan Reformers, Public Citizen, Common Cause, National Vote at Home
Institute and the Center for Secure and Modern Elections.
The Center
for Secure and Modern Elections is a project of the left-leaning New
Venture Fund, which doesn’t disclose its donors.
The National
Vote at Home Institute is partnered with the Soros-funded League of Women
Voters, as well as the Soros-funded Common Cause.
The National
Association of Non-Partisan Reformers lists its founding
organization members as including FairVote. FairVote is a project of the Soros-funded
Center for Voting and Democracy.
