DAVID NORTH - YET ANOTHER EB-5 SCANDAL IN CALIFORNIA

Yet Another EB-5 Scandal in California

Excerpt: The Chens and a cluster of companies they controlled, including a DHS-licensed regional center, Home Paradise Regional Center LLC, diverted many millions of dollars away from EB-5 investments for their own personal use.

In one of the investments, $9.5 million was supposedly to be used for the development of an interior design center in Ontario, Calif. Of this, $8.9 million was channeled to other purposes. It is rare that this high a proportion of the EB-5 funds is stolen and a black mark on the DHS regulators that this much was gone before corrective action was taken.

Our Broken Obama Military Can’t Even Manage to Toss Out Traitors

Our Broken Obama Military Can’t Even Manage to Toss Out Traitors

After nearly a decade under President Faily McWorsethancarter, can our military win a fight with North Korea? Because if it is unable to perform the basic task of ensuring that the people commissioned to lead our troops in the defense of the United States are actually loyal to the United States, how the hell can we reasonably expect it to be able to conduct high-intensity combat operations against a Nork Army that prioritizes fighting over political correctness?
We can’t.
I don’t enjoy saying that – it gives me no pleasure to have to wonder whether the Army I served in both in active and reserve status for close to 28 years is broken. And it’s not just the Army. The Marines and the Special Ops community, well, they seem to be holding on to the standards the rest have forgotten, but the Navy and the Air Force – they’re broken too. Our military – in terms of strategy, equipment, and leadership, is in crisis. American troops will die if we don’t fix it.
Hell, they already have.
We have a Navy that can’t even sail its few remaining ships without running into giant cargo vessels. I come from a Navy family. You should call my dad, the retired lieutenant commander, and ask him what he thinks about the Navy’s current level of seamanship. It will not be a happy chat.
It is, in fact, a disgrace. Our sailors, the precious young men and women we commissioned officers are charged with leading and protecting, are dying because our officer corps tolerates incompetence. One collision is an accident. Two is a lifestyle.
And yeah, they’ve fired some admirals, and that’s a good start, but the problem is a cultural rot, not just one ‘ed-up command. The Navy focused on things besides its mission – “to maintain, train and equip combat-ready Naval forces capable of winning wars, deterring aggression and maintaining freedom of the seas” – and in the last few months that misplaced focus has killed 17 sailors and taken two major vessels out of action in the Western Pacific at the very moment we are on the edge of war.
Did you know several senior Navy officers are being or have been charged for corruptionCorruption. Graft. Bribes. Hookers. Senior leaders, and they’re scumbugs – criminal scumbags. But hey, the Army has its problems too. General Petraeus…sheesh, what a punch in the gut it was to see him use the Army values as a latrine. Then there was the 82nd Airborne general court martialed for using his billet to build himself a sex harem. And how about the colonel who played games with contracts and ditched his wife to marry an Iraqi chick – the Army was so upset he got a reprimand and to keep his pension. No jail time.
Let me say that again. No jail time. Yeah, that would totally have happened to a sergeant who did the same thing, according to several high-ranking unicorns in the Judge Advocate Office.
Want to know what generals and admirals don’t get in trouble for? Failing to win wars.
The military senior leadership has turned into a fraternity, where they cover up for each other and make sure everyone graduates with a gentleman’s “C”. And it’s not even a fun fraternity – the senior leadership is painfully politically correct, parroting all the right buzzwords and receive wisdom of our failed ruling caste. Many of these people are courageous on the battlefield – they’ll happily charge a Taliban warrior wielding an AK-47. But they quake in their boots back home in the face of an enemy they don’t understand and that can destroy their careers – the Social Justice Warrior. That’s why you don’t see them saying what every damn one of them knows is true – that women, despite their heart and commitment, are a net liability in ground combat units, that trans troops are an expensive distraction and damaging to morale, and that the insane focus on “diversity” programs sucks up priceless training time and fuels, rather than quells, discord in the ranks.
But they don’t dare object. That’d be risky. And these are the senior leaders who we will allow to lead our sons and daughters in battle if Korea goes hot. How’s your confidence level?
And we have now reached the pinnacle of the military’s moral bankruptcy with the revelation that one Second Lieutenant Spenser Rapone is a communist. Not like a wannabe communist, not like a routine college-years liberal dummy, but a full-on, dictatorship-of-the-proletariat communist.
While at West Point.
Yeah, and the Academy knew. The chain of command knew what this guy was, because he told them (Army alumni have done the job the MSM, which probably sympathizes with this idiot, has failed to do, digging up plenty about him and putting it out on social media). But the Academy let this creep slide through anyway. They let a guy who unequivocally stated his hatred for this country get a security clearance. (Sound familiar? The Air Force’s Worst Airperson of the Century Reality Winner, anyone?) Then they gave Rapone a commission as a United States Army officer. And they did it knowing who he was, because in the leftist-loving environment Obama created, they were terrified to throw the bum out on his Marx. Hell, he felt comfortable enough to post this all on social media, and the Army chain of command didn’t act until we outside the military made a stink and it had to do something.
You’ve seen the photo of this disgrace wearing a Che t-shirt under his uniform and showing it off. Question: Who took the photo? He was with other cadets so some other cadet saw it and did nothing – doesn’t West Point have an honor code, or is honor now a microaggression? Imagine how interested CNN and the Democrats would suddenly be if his undergarment icon was Hitler, or even Robert E. Lee, instead of the racist, gay-murdering dorm room darling of the campus commies.
“But, he has a right to express his…”
No, he doesn’t.
A United States officer cannot be a communist, or a Nazi, or a jihadist. These vile allegiances are incompatible with military service, and we are under no moral obligation to enter into a suicide pact by letting these vermin into our officer corps. Haven’t enough people died, like at Fort Hood, because the chain of command was too cowardly to risk getting called jihadiphobic to get rid of an insider threat?
Apparently not. Well, we’re not obligated to keep this America-hating cretin in either.
There’s an investigation going on to gather evidence to see if charges are warranted. If charges are filed, 2LT Rapone will get the due process rights punks like him would deny to others – including due process rights Democrats would deny college students accused of sex abuse.
Here’s what Colonel Schlichter would have done – actually, I would have dropped him into the bowl long before now and flushed, but let’s assume I got one of those 3 a.m. phone calls that begins “Sir, there’s been an incident…”
First, I’d call that little rat into my office, state that information has come to my attention that has caused me to lose confidence in his ability to lead, and temporarily relieve him of his post. I would assign him to a position that does not require him to supervise enlisted soldiers or interact with NCOs. After his social media posts attacking non-commissioned officers, the backbone of the Army, that would be me doing Millennial Neidermeyer a favor.
Suitable jobs for him as the investigation is underway would include “Deputy Officer-in-Charge, Volleyball Distribution” or “Assistant Combat Boot Warehouse Inventory Counting Operations Officer.”
Next, I would call my S-2 (intel) officer in and tell him to pull Rapone’s security clearance. From that moment on, the closest thing to classified material he’d get would be the brigade Christmas Secret Santa exchange (I’d ensure he got assigned to the Command Sergeant Major because I’m kind of evil).
Oh, and I’d order this moron, in writing, not to use social media, and specifically, not to access, delete, change, close, alter, remove or in any way change any of his social media accounts. Sadly, it appears some of his accounts are now locked, indicating that the Army probably did not think to do this to preserve evidence. I hope they got CID to get a warrant and grab his electronics; I doubt they did that either.
If what appears true is true, Soon-To-Be Mr. Rapone needs to do time before he’s booted – you can’t have LTs posting obscenities about the SecDef and let that slide and still have a disciplined Army. But the real story isn’t this one loser. It’s not even the other losers who knew what he was and said and did nothing. It’s the chain of command.
We need to know exactly what the faculty and staff at West Point knew about Comrade Cadet Rapone’s treachery. If they did know – and I bet we will find out that he was counseled in writing about it – every officer from his first line supervisor to the USMA Superintendent must be relieved and reprimanded. West Point is supposed to be the heart of the Army, but we may find that, after the pernicious influence of Obama and his ilk, it won’t even take its own side in a fight.
This is a symptom of a bigger disease. The Army, and the military in general, has lost its way. Fortunately, we have a president who actually loves America and a Secretary of Defense who is a warrior. They need to set the standard and make examples – you get more of what’s rewarded, less of what’s punished. Let’s reward leadership, not careerism. Let’s demand moral courage, and not tolerate careerist cowardice. The lives of our troops, and our country’s survival depends on it.

TRUMP TRADES WALL AGAINST NARCOMEX FOR TAX CUTS FOR WEALTHY

TRUMPERNOMICS: THE SUPER RICH

APPLAUD TWITTER’S TAX PLAN!

"The tax overhaul would mean an unprecedented windfall for the super-rich, on top of the fact that virtually all income gains during the period of the supposed recovery from the financial crash of 2008 have gone to the top 1 percent income bracket."

DHS Official: Donald Trump Wants DACA Illegals to Get Amnesty, Become Citizens

President Donald Trump thinks it makes sense to sign an amnesty for young illegal immigrants and to let them become citizens, an official from the Department of Homeland Security told Senators on Tuesday.

“Under a rational bill, these [DACA] individuals would be able to become lawful permanent residents with a pathway to citizenship,” Michael Dougherty, the assistant secretary for border, immigration and trade policy, told GOP Sen. John Kennedy during a Tuesday hearing of the Senate judiciary committee.
The statement reflected Trump’s turnabout since his election campaign when he promised to send all illegals homewards, including the 800,000 younger illegals who got work permits via former President Barack Obama’s 2012 “DACA” amnesty.
However, Dougherty declined to provide Kennedy with any guidance about what security measures, border-wall improvements or immigration reforms must be packaged to create an “rational” amnesty for the younger illegals, whose numbers include roughly 3.3 million of the approximately 12 million illegals residing in the United States.
“So the president believes they should be allowed to stay,” Kennedy asked Dougherty, 92 minutes into the hearing.
“The president, yes, would like to work with Congress to get a solution,” Dougherty answered the Lousiana Senator.
“Under what conditions does the president believe they should be allowed to stay?” Kennedy asked.
“I don’t have those details for you, sir,” replied Dougherty.
“We need all the assistance we can get,” said Kennedy, whose used the “dreamers” term to describe the illegals, not young Americans.
“We need clarity from the administration,” said North Carolina GOP Sen. Thom Tillis told the administration officials. Tillis is pushing his own pro-business amnesty bill that would allow the illegals to get citizenship in 15 years.
Administration officials have promised to provide clarity in a few days, once they have completed a strategic plan for immigration reform. They began preparing the pan following the disastrous September 13 meeting in the White House with the Democrats’ leaders in the Senate and House, Minority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer and Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi. The Democrats emerged from teh meting claiming that Trump had agree to a no-strings, no-wall amnesty for the 3.3 million younger illegals.
The White House plan is expected to include parts of the popular RAISE Act, which would raise Americans’ wages by cutting unskilled “chain migration” arrivals of new citizens’ family relations. That bill is backed by Trump, Georgia Sen. David Perdue and Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton.
Dougherty told the Senators that the White House’s priorities include “border control, expanding the ability to quickly remove people who enter illegally and do not claim asylum, better vetting, reducing visa overstays, reforming non-immigrant business visas and establishing a merit-based system that favors skilled immigrants,” according to a Reuters report.
The Senators and witnesses did not talk about the scale and cost of an amnesty, which could quickly reach a record-breaking 3.3 million — not counting subsequent chain migration — at a record-breaking cost of at least $116 billion over ten years. Democratic Senators portrayed the young illegals as an economic boon to the United States, even though relatively few have productive skills.
Democratic Senators pleaded with Trump’s officials to not push for any concessions in an amnesty deal, hinting the illegal-immigrant political activists are unable to accept any conditions or compromise that might hinder amnesty and government aid for their siblings, parents and foreign relatives. Young illegal immigrants protesting outside the White House told Breitbart News in September that they oppose immigration reductions, enhanced enforcement or funding for a border wall.
“Building a wall can’t stop people coming into different countries … it is a better opportunity for their families,” said Jessica A. who was part of a group from Trinity Washington University in Washington D.C. “I can’t say that needs to stop,” she told Breitbart.
“Please do not put the burden on the Dreamers to accept every aspect of comprehensive immigration reform to get a chance to become citizens of the United States,” Illinois Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin said vehemently. “That is too much to ask,” he said, adding that leaders could talk about “‘some reasonable way” on “border security.” Durbin also used the term “dreamer” to describe young illegals, not young Americans.
Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn called for a series of small-scale immigration bills. “I don’t think we’re capable of passing a comprehensive immigration bill,” he said, so Congress should start with border security and interior enforcement bills.  “That is the first step — not the last step,” he said. “We need to regain the [voters’] trust … the American people simply don’t trust us to solve the problem.”

Trump’s tax plan: The wish list of the American oligarchy

2 October 2017
On Wednesday, the Trump administration outlined a tax “reform” proposal that would be one of the largest upward redistributions of wealth in human history. The plan would essentially establish in law what is increasingly apparent in fact: The United States is an oligarchy.
The proposal would reduce the top individual income tax rate from 39.6 percent to 35 percent, cut the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 15 percent, eliminate the estate and gift tax, and allow wealthy individuals to establish “pass through entities” in which their own personal income, including from wages, would be taxed at just 25 percent.
The release of the tax plan comes at a time of desperate need for hundreds of millions of people in the US. The US territory of Puerto Rico remains submerged without electricity, food, water, fuel or medicine. Houston is devastated in the wake of Hurricane Irma, and Florida in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. The industrial Midwest faces an opioid epidemic that takes the lives of tens of thousands each year. Everywhere millions lack adequate health care, education and infrastructure.
While the ruling class makes trillions available for war, bank bailouts, quantitative easing and tax cuts for the rich, it ignores basic social needs with criminal indifference. Just yesterday, both the House and Senate missed a deadline to fund the Children’s Health Insurance Program, meaning that nine million poor children face having no health care in the coming weeks and months.
A flurry of activity is accompanying the announcement of Trump’s tax plan, which the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center estimates will reduce federal revenue by $2.4 trillion in the next decade and another $3.2 trillion in the following decade. Corporate tax cuts will produce added corporate revenue of $6.7 trillion by 2037.
On Sunday, Trump Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin made the rounds of the morning talk shows declaring, with a straight face, that “the objective of the president is that rich people don’t get tax cuts.”
Mnuchin, the administration and Wall Street play the population for suckers.
The abolition of the estate tax alone will net $240 billion by 2027 to those worth over $5 million, just 0.02 percent of the population. Beyond this massive sum, the elimination of any taxation on money passed between generations of aristocrats establishes the oligarchic principle of dynastic rule. Before long, the new nobility will take the logical next step in demanding the repeal of another progressive era reform, the Sixteenth Amendment, which granted congress the right to tax income.
In the 4th century BCE, Aristotle defined the term “oligarchy” to mean a form of government where the non-rich are “absolutely excluded” from social decision-making. Under capitalism, the ruling class has taken this definition to a new level. In the US today, the government exists solely as a vehicle for enriching the wealthy and carrying out its domestic and foreign policy goals.
The government’s top personnel are themselves billionaires and millionaires. The media, universities, technology companies and trade unions function as subservient semi-official state institutions whose purpose is to suppress social opposition and stifle free speech. The Democrats and Republicans function like factions of the same party that agree on enforcing the interests of the oligarchy.
In response to Trump’s tax plan, House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi told the New York Times Saturday, “The president wants to work together. We have a responsibility to find common ground.” Senate leader Charles Schumer told Face the Nation yesterday, “We want to work with them if they will change… You know, they have to consult us.” Last month, the Times called for corporate tax cuts in an editorial titled, “Want to Make a Deal, Mr. Trump?”
As is the norm in American politics, the Republicans are setting the reactionary framework within which the Democrats will likely propose only minor changes before securing the bill’s passage. Despite issuing official proclamations of opposition to Trump’s plan, the Democrats’ position is dictated by the demands of not only their corporate sponsors who are salivating over Trump’s proposal, but also a significant portion of their base in the affluent 10 percent who stand to gain substantially under the plan.
The policies of the American financial oligarchy have already produced unprecedented levels of social inequality, represented in data from a recently released Federal Reserve report:
From 2004 to 2016, the income of the bottom 80 percent of the US declined, with the exception of a bare $1,000 increase in the income of the poorest fifth. Meanwhile, the median annual family income of the top 10 percent increased by $25,100.
The growth in wealth inequality is even starker. Federal Reserve data shows the bottom 90 percent saw their wealth decline drastically from 2004 to 2016. The sharper fall in median family net worth compared to median family income indicates that the vast majority of the population is overwhelmed by the rising cost of living and that even modest income gains are erased by the added cost of health care, transportation, food, housing, education, etc.
The Trump administration’s tax proposal will greatly exacerbate social inequality. According to the Tax Policy Center’s report, the top 1 percent will see their after-tax annual income rise by 8.5 percent, compared to an after-tax increase of those in the bottom 95 percent of between 0.5 and 1.2 percent.
The tax cuts will increase the debt to over 50 percent of GDP by 2036 and will be used by both parties to demand massive cuts to social safety net programs as well as to Social Security and Medicare, thereby erasing the paltry tax cuts for hundreds of millions of Americans.
The massive growth in social inequality is the product of policies implemented by both parties over the last fifty years. There is every indication that another bipartisan arrangement is in the works, with Trump appearing at rallies with three Democratic Senators calling for tax reform.
The American oligarchy operates with a

degree of domination over the government

and official institutions that rivals that of the

Bourbons and Romanovs. But the political

establishment is deeply concerned over the

growth of social opposition in the working

class, a concern which underlies their

campaign to censor and control the Internet.

But through its tax plan, the Trump

administration is fanning a growing social

anger that will take the form of explosive

social struggles in the period to come.

Trump’s Amnesty Talk Coincides with Illegal Border Crossings Surge

Illegal border crossings spiked at the same time President Donald Trump’s administration spoke with congressional Democrats about potentially giving amnesty to hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens.

President Trump met with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) weeks ago. The meeting gave the appearance of the president seeming to cave on his major campaign promise to oppose amnesty for illegal aliens, Breitbart News reported.
The negotiations were centered on the nearly 800,000 illegal aliens shielded by the Obama-created Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Though no deal has been made between the White House and Congress – two amnesty bills have been filed in the House and Senate. The talk of amnesty in Washington, D.C. has already led to surges of illegal crossings at the U.S./Mexico border.
As Breitbart Texas reported, illegal border crossings peaked at 22,293 in the month of August. This represents an almost 25 percent increase over the month before, reaching almost August 2012 illegal immigration levels.
At the same time, the number of Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) and Family Unit Aliens (FMUA) apprehended while illegally cross into the U.S. through Mexico increased as well. In the month of August, nearly 3,000 UACs were apprehended at the southern border, an increase of 20 percent from July. Another 4,645 FMUAs were arrested at the border, an increase of 37 percent from the month before.
In a report by McClatchy DC, a U.S. official said the illegal immigration levels – which were at a historic low in April of this year – have taken a “surprising” turn.
“They’ve definitely began creeping back up,” the official said. “They’re still low compared to recent years, but when you look at the calendar they’re trending in a surprising direction. They’re trending up.”
Additionally, because the federal government under Trump continues to relocate UACs and FMUAs across the U.S. if they can persuade officials about their fears in their native countries, the U.S. official said illegal aliens may believe that an immigration crackdown under the administration is just talk, rather than action.
“People may be figuring that out,” the official told McClatchy DC. “They may have assumed that it was going to be worse than it is.”
With mere talks of amnesty coinciding with a spike of illegal immigration at the southern border, a deal which gives amnesty to potentially millions of illegal aliens could result in an even greater border surge.
As the Migration Policy Institute has chronicled, previous border surges from amnesty programs have brought hundreds of thousands across the U.S.-Mexico border:
While the flow of Unaccompanied Alien Children (UACs) has been climbing steadily since 2012, a dramatic surge has taken place in the last six months, with the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas as the principal place of entry. The Border Patrol there has converted entire stations to house unaccompanied minors and families.
According to the Border Patrol, apprehensions of unaccompanied children increased from 16,067 in fiscal year (FY) 2011 to 24,481 in FY 2012 and 38,833 in FY 2013. During the first eight months of FY 2014, 47,017 such children were apprehended by the Border Patrol. If the influx continues apace—and it shows no signs of slowing—the administration predicts that by the end of the fiscal year on September 30, totals could reach 90,000.
Ninety-eight percent of unaccompanied minors currently arriving at the border are from Honduras (28 percent), Mexico (25 percent), Guatemala (24 percent), and El Salvador (21 percent). This breakdown represents a significant shift: prior to 2012, more than 75 percent of UACs were from Mexico.

Chuck Schumer: During Our Negotiations Trump Said ‘OK, We Won’t Do the Wall’

This week on the “Pod Save America” podcast, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) detailed the debt ceiling and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy negotiations he had with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and President Donald Trump earlier in the month.
Schumer said, “On DREAMers, he said, you know, that he understood that they didn’t come in through any fault of their own, that they’re good Americans, good kids. And then he said he wants the wall in return. And we said ‘No. No wall, Mr. President.’ And he tried that for about 15 minutes, but he’s not going to push me around verbally or any other way.”
He added, “And he finally said, “OK, we won’t do the wall. We’ll do some other kind of border security.”

Two Previously Deported MS-13 Gang Members, Child Rapist Arrested at Border

Border Patrol agents arrested two previously-deported MS-13 gang members and a convicted child rapist after they illegally snuck across the Arizona border. The arrests occurred in three separate smuggling attempts.

Federal authorities arrested 31-year old Eugenio Franco shortly after he had illegally crossed into the country just west of Nogales, Arizona, information provided to Breitbart Texas by the U.S. Border Patrol revealed. While processing the foreign national, authorities determined Franco to be an illegal alien from Mexico with a long criminal history in the U.S. He is also a known member of the MS-13 criminal gang.
While carrying out regular patrols in the desert area near Arivaca, Arizona, federal authorities also arrested 41-year-old Julio Santos, an illegal alien from El Salvador. During processing, authorities discovered the man had a long criminal history in the U.S. He is also a known MS-13 gang member.
Shortly after the arrest of the two MS-13 gang members, authorities arrested another Mexican national, 42-year-old Fernando Lopez De La Cruz, near Tucson. While processing De La Cruz, authorities learned the man had been deported and is a convicted sex offender. A Washington state court convicted De La Cruz and sentenced him to 71 months in prison on the charges of rape and attempted rape of a child.
The discovery of the two MS-13 gang members and the convicted sexual predator was made possible after border patrol agents processed the illegal aliens at the station by taking their photograph and fingerprinting them in order to find out if they are known to law enforcement.
Law enforcement officials nationwide are targeting MS-13 members, many of which are illegal aliens with violent criminal records. In October 2012, the U.S. Department of Treasury labeled the group a “transnational criminal organization,” the first such designation for a street gang. During a 10-year period between 2005 and 2014, officials arrested 4,000 members of MS-13 — 92 percent of those were in the United States illegally — according to information provided by the Center for Immigration Studies.
Recently, the state of New York announced the deployment of a new Gang Violence Prevention Unit specifically tasked with combating the MS-13 crisis in Suffolk County, Breitbart Texas reported. The unit consists of ten state police troopers, who are being deployed to the top ten high-risk Suffolk County schools that currently serve as ground zero for gang activity and recruitment.
Most gang experts believe that the presence of illegal alien gangs in U.S. communities is due to decades of failure on the part of our federal government to secure our southern border and policies that allow such criminals to find sanctuary on U.S. soil.

Border Patrol Officers Seized More Than $3.2 Million in Crystal Meth Last Weekend
Last weekend, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized 158 pounds of alleged crystal methamphetamine during two separate routine vehicle searches at the Juarez-Lincoln International Bridge.

On Saturday, September 23, CBP officers became suspicious of a 2009 GMC Sierra driven by a 29-year-old American citizen. After issuing a second examination of the car, a CBP canine unit alerted authorities to the presence of drugs inside the vehicle. A thorough search of the car found 32 packages of alleged crystal meth, totaling 122 pounds.
Then on Monday, September 25, CBP officers again suspected a driver of smuggling drugs into the United States. Here, the canine unit discovered 36 pounds of alleged meth. This alleged drug smuggler was a 40-year-old Mexican citizen.
Both drivers were arrested and the case was handed to Immigration Customs Enforcement. The drugs and vehicles were detained by authorities as well.
In total, the confiscated drugs are worth $3,247,816.
“These significant narcotic seizures are examples of the remarkable border security work our CBP officers undertake on a daily basis,” said Port Director Gregory Alvarez, Laredo Port of Entry. “Our officers remain vigilant and continue to be successful in keeping these narcotics off our streets and away from our youth.”
Earlier this month, CBP authorities confiscated nearly $4 million worth of alleged crystal methamphetamine hidden within a commercial trailer.
CBP authorities are in charge of protecting the nation primarily from terror threats crossing the border, but their rigorous inspection process often yields millions worth of illegal drugs as well.
On Wednesday alone, El Paso port authorities seized 450 pounds of marijuana in five different searches.
“The smuggling threat is consistent. Vigilant CBP officers are stepping up every day to stop drug loads,” said one CPB director. “The work we perform plays an important role in keeping our nation safe from all threats.”
Meth, in particular, is becoming increasingly popular on oil rigs in Texas. Texas has experienced a burst in expansion in the shale industry. Many workers take meth in order to stay on the job longer. The drug has the ability to "wire" people's brains so they can supposedly stay awake for 24 hours and work at a faster rate.
One oil rig worker told Reuters, “(On meth) I’d work 24 hours…I was just plagued with fatigue and needed something to improve my work ethic.”
According to the Albuquerque Journal, about 90 percent of meth consumed in the United States is manufactured in Mexico. This meth is often smuggled into the States in by various Mexican drug cartels. These cartels contribute to violence and murder in America due to the lucrative but dangerous black-market for drugs.
U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions noted earlier this year,
“Drug cartels bring death and destruction across our Southern border and sell drugs that take lives all across America. The work our ICE officers do every day to keep these criminals out of our country and secure our border is heroic and makes all of us safer."
But, as stated last year in a report by the New York Times, drug cartels have paid hundreds of Homeland Security officials nearly $15 million to “look the other way” to similar drug smuggling attempts over the last decade.
President Donald J. Trump has vowed to stop drugs coming in via the southern border. In August, he declareda national emergency to address the opioid epidemic plaguing various communities around the U.S. In 2016, there were roughly 50,000 deaths caused by drug overdoses.

Border Wall Prototype Construction Begins

The construction of President Donald Trump’s promised prototype border wall began on Tuesday. Six companies that won the competitive bidding process will begin testing various types of walls.

The companies will begin building eight test sections of wall on Tuesday, Fox News Insider reported.
“Today is the day the dirt actually moves,” Fox’s Adam Housley reported from the area. He said it will take about a week or two before anything significant is constructed.
Just a few weeks ago, the finalists were announced by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Breitbart News’ Michelle Moons reported in August.
The companies selected to build the eight prototypes were:
  • Caddell Construction Co. (DE), LLC of Montgomery, AL
  • Fisher Sand & Gravel Co., DBA Fisher Industries of Tempe, AZ
  • Texas Sterling Construction Co. of Houston, TX
  • W.G. Yates & Sons Construction Company of Philadelphia, MS
“The concrete border wall prototypes will allow CBP to evaluate the potential for new wall and barrier designs that could complement the wall and barrier designs we have used along the border over the last several years,” CBP officials stated. “As the border security environment continues to evolve, CBP will continually refresh its own inventory of tools to meet that evolution.”
In June, one contractor produced a video showing a prototype of the wall, Breitbart Texas reported.
The prototypes will be built in the San Diego Sector in southern California.
In anticipation of the construction start, San Diego police officers and sheriff’s deputies placed “No Parking” signs along the roads and streets near the border, the Los Angeles Times reported. The ban went into effect on Tuesday and extends until November 10 in the county and November 1 in the city.
Officials are working on establishing a “free-speech zone,” where protesters will be allowed to express their opinions.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection and San Diego Sheriff’s Department vehicles could be seen driving in the area on Monday in advance of the construction startup.

U.S. Taxpayers Have Spent More Than $80 Billion on ‘Dreamers’

K-12 education, WIC, Medicaid for illegal immigrants brought as children adds up to large price tag

by Margaret Menge | Updated 26 Sep 2017 at 6:31 AM

On his Fox News show last week, Tucker Carlson took on the illegal immigrants who shouted down House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi at her press conference, saying most are “benefiting in a lot of ways from U.S. society, which is the richest in the world.”
“I never hear a single person say thank you. Why not?” he asked his guest, an illegal immigrant activist.

DACA renewal deadline looms; concerns linger
WESH - Orlando, FL
On a Facebook page called DACA Dreamers Only, several young adults who are in DACA insist they’ve worked for everything they’ve gotten, and haven’t received any government handouts.
“All day long I hear ppl say 'illegals get free health insurance, Medicaid, food stamps, welfare.' Anyone's state gives out free welfare services? I know mine don't," one person wrote.
“It is common knowledge that we can’t take advantage of many of the programs such as welfare and Medicare, yet many believe that we do. We are not taking advantage of anyone and all we want is a chance,” another one wrote.
But illegal immigrants do get several kinds of welfare, much of it through their U.S.-born children, and a study by the Center for Immigration Studies showed that 62 percent of households headed by an illegal immigrant received some type of welfare. In addition, U.S. taxpayers have spent billions of dollars a year for K-12 education for illegal immigrants, about 690,000 of whom have qualified for DACA — Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.
The Trump administration rescinded the DACA program this month, but with a six-month wind-down period to give Congress a chance to pass a version of the DREAM Act, which would give legal status to all those eligible for DACA and other illegal immigrants who meet certain criteria, and allow them to apply to become citizens after a few years.
But how much have U.S. taxpayers spent on the DACA beneficiaries so far? How many benefits have DACA people collected while in the U.S. illegally?
The biggest benefit illegal immigrants in DACA have gotten by far is a K-12 education in American schools, with extra services provided to them for ELL (English Language Learner) programs, and other programs offered through schools that include school lunch, school breakfast, in many places, summer meals, and reduced or free after-care and summer camp. The total school-related benefits amount to the year-round care and feeding of hundreds of thousands of children whose parents are living and working in the country illegally.
The average per pupil cost of K-12 education in public schools in America is over $12,000, according to the National Center for Education Statistics. But more is spent, on average, on immigrant children.
According to the Federation for American Immigration Enforcement, the cost to educate ELL students who have limited English-language ability is, on average, 20 percent higher than for regular students. In some school districts, it’s as much as 50 percent higher.
ELL costs nationwide totaled 59.8 billion in 2016.
“The brunt of these costs consist of providing salaries, benefits and/or training to hundreds of thousands of LEP teachers and programs, followed by additional funding for tutoring, bilingual textbooks and material, additional administrative tasks and facility enlargement/enhancement needed to incorporate the increased number of students,” wrote the authors of the 2016 FAIR report “Elephant in the Classroom: Mass Immigration’s Impact on Public Education."
As of September 4, there are 689,800 people in DACA. They are between the ages of 15 and 36. The largest group of them — 253,000 — are between the ages of 21 and 25, according to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service. A total of 65 percent of DACA recipients are 25 or under. The great majority are originally from Mexico.
To qualify for DACA, a person had to have resided in the U.S. continuously since 2007, and had to be enrolled in either school or a training program or have graduated from high school.
According to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, 253,100 DACA recipients are 21 to 25 years old, and would have therefore attended four years at an American high school. Another 196,500 DAC recipients are now 16-20 years old and therefore would have gone to an American school for at least eight years. An additional 2,000 DAC recipients are under 16, and would have spent at least 10 years in American schools. Multiplying the numbers by $12,000 per pupil per year brings the cost to about $31.25 billion — which is the most conservative estimate — and is likely to be underestimating the amount that U.S. taxpayers have paid for schooling for DACA recipients.

This is not counting free school meals.
Harvard University researcher Roberto Gonzales found in a study of DACA recipients that 73 percent qualified for free lunch in high school, based on their low family income.
In 2016 the U.S. spent $18 billion on the school lunch program, double the $7.5 billion that it had spent in 2000. The dramatic increase is thought to be due largely to the increase in the number of children in U.S. schools where are either illegal immigrants or the children of illegal immigrants.
Another huge benefit the illegal aliens now in DACA have collected is in-state tuition at public universities and colleges in the 21 states that now offer in-state tuition for undocumented students.
DACA recipients might not consider that a benefit — but on average, people paying in-state tuition are only paying about a third of the total cost of their education, with the rest paid for by the state.
“If you’re only covering about a third of the tuition yourself, then somebody else is paying for the rest. Taxpayers,” said Ira Mehlman, spokesman for FAIR.
“It’s a huge government benefit,” he told LifeZette. “Most government benefits don’t come in the form of a check with your name on it.”
And setting aside education, a lot of illegal immigrants are receiving actual welfare, often through their children. But not always.
WIC, the food program that provides coupons for free food to women and their children, does not require a person to be a U.S. citizen to qualify.
A study by Steven Camarota of the Center for Immigration Studies showed that 62 percent of all households headed by an illegal immigrant got some kind of welfare. Almost 23 percent of them got WIC and more than 22 percent of them got food stamps (EBT) — most through their U.S.-born children.
In addition, almost all pre-natal care and births by illegal immigrants in the U.S. are covered by Medicaid, as the beneficiary is considered to be the future U.S. citizen who is to be born.
Jason Richwine and Robert Rector estimated in a 2013 report for the Heritage Foundation that in 2010, the average household headed by an illegal immigrant household received close to $25,000 in government benefits and paid, on average, about $10,00 in taxes, a deficit of about $14,000 per household.

So how much have DACA recipients collected in welfare and other benefits paid for by U.S. taxpayers? Likely more than $100 billion in benefits, including K-12 education, school lunches and actual welfare (WIC, food stamps, Medicaid, etc.).
But as government numbers are not available, it is almost impossible to know exactly how much illegal immigrants who now have DACA have benefited from being in the U.S. illegally.
“They should be looking at it, but they’re not,” said Jessica Vaughan of the Center for Immigration Studies, referring to the federal government.
An email query to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services for information about government expenditures on DACA recipients was not answered on Monday.

Illegal Immigration: An Economic Poison Pill

The conversation surrounding illegal immigration is deeply personal for many people -- it is emotionally-charged and politically divisive. Debates often devolve into mud-slinging contests, and arguments morph into feigned outrage, even violent protests. But from an economic perspective the question is settled science: illegal aliens cost taxpayers billions, impoverish American workers, and are completely unnecessary for America’s economic success.
To begin with, illegal immigrants are expensive. According to the Federation for American Immigration Reform’s 2017 report, illegal immigrants, and their children, cost American taxpayers a net $116 billion annually -- roughly $7,000 per alien annually. While high, this number is not an outlier: a recent study by theHeritage Foundation found that low-skilled immigrants (including those here illegally) cost Americans trillions over the course of their lifetimes, and a study from the National Economics Editorial found that illegal immigration costs America over $140 billion annually. As it stands, illegal immigrants are a massive burden on American taxpayers.
Although border control is a federal responsibility, state and local governments shoulder two-thirds of the costs associated with illegal immigration. Unsurprisingly, this costs California more than any other state: California spends$30.3 billion on illegal aliens annually -- 17.7 percent of the state budget. Texas is next: illegal immigration costs the State of Texas $12.4 billion annually, or roughly 10 percent of the state's budget. In third place is New York, which spends $7.4 billion on illegal immigration.
Of course, the tax burden is only part of the story: illegal immigration also distorts the labor market, hurting American workers. Ever hear of the law of supply and demand? It is how the free market determines prices: when demand increases, prices increase (more people bid-up the price); conversely, when supply increases, prices decrease (less scarcity means less urgency), and vice versa. Supply and demand underpins the price of everything from gasoline, to apples, to the value of a person’s labor -- surgeons command high prices because there is a limited supply of surgeons, whereas store clerks make minimum wage because anyone can be a store clerk.

This has dramatically, and rapidly increased the labor supply and therefore decreased wages for American workers. Ample evidence supports this claim. For example, before Hurricane Harvey, President Trump’s crackdown on illegal aliens had already caused wages for construction workers to rise by 30 percent in Texas (half of Texas’ construction workers were illegal aliens). Likewise, businesses in Maine were forced to hire American workers after the availability of visas for temporary foreign workers were restricted. As a result, unemployment decreased, wages increased, and working conditions improved in order to attract American workers. Illegal labor has distorted America’s labor markets, and hurt American workers in the process.
Finally, America’s economy will not collapse without easy access to illegal labor.
The standard refrain can be summed up as: “we need illegals to do the jobs Americans won’t do.” This is nonsense for two reasons. First, the claim is predicated upon the false assumption that America’s labor market is saturated and requires more workers to continue growing. This could not be further from the truth: right now fewer that 150 million Americans (out of 320 million) are employed, likewise there are 23 million Americans currently looking for work -- twice the number of illegal aliens in the country. Even assuming that every illegal aliens was employed, replacing them with American workers would still leave 11 million Americans unemployed.
Second, the claim is undermined by actual labor statistics. According to theBureau of Labor Statistics, millions of Americans -- of all races -- currently work as janitors, laborers, and agricultural workers. In fact, only four percent of American agricultural workers are illegal aliens, according to a report in theNational Review, putting to bed the myth that we would starve without illegal laborers. Clearly Americans are willing to work any job, provided they are compensated at fair market value -- this is not currently happening precisely because many illegals work under-the-table.
Believe it or not, states without illegal immigrants, like Montana or Ohio, are not economic backwaters with exorbitantly high costs of living -- people in Idaho can still afford McDonald’s and Starbucks, they just pay teenagers to work the drive-thrus. In fact, the cost of living in said states is often cheaper, because their governments do not require high taxes to subsidize legions of illegal aliens.
It is also worth mentioning that America is the only developed nation, until very recently, that imports millions of illegal immigrants to work in its service sector -- other rich nations like Japan and Canada, do not. Yet despite this, the GDP per capita of Japan has actually grown faster than America’s during the same period. The same is true of Canada and Australia. If illegal immigration is such an economic bonanza, why are Americans being left behind by nations without this “advantage”?
University professors, Silicon Valley CEOs, and politicians are not losing their jobs to illegals -- ordinary folk are. Illegal immigration is a contentious issue, but it remains important to couch policy discussions in facts -- not just abstract principles.
