NBC News Debunks Mayorkas ‘Border Is Closed’ Claim

Alejandro Mayorkas, Joe’s Biden’s border chief, has repeatedly claimed that “the border is closed” — and now one of the main establishment TV networks finally took the time to refute his claim.

NBC News’s Julia Ainsley reported June 2:

When he took office, President Joe Biden loosened rules at the border, letting children without parents cross — but agents were supposed to expel all other undocumented migrants.

The policy allows the Biden administration to say, “The border is closed.”

In reality, the border is not closed. Under Biden, the determination of who stays and who goes has become a lottery with winners and losers.

The news segment was not produced as a “Fact-Check” of Mayorkas, who is not mentioned in the article, even though he is the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

But it is a veiled criticism of Mayorkas for repeatedly claiming the border is closed.

“The border is closed,” Mayorkas told an ill-informed Rep. Chuck Fleischmann (R-TN) in a May 26 hearing.

“The border is closed,” Mayorkas told a roomful of powerless White House reporters on May 31.

A DHS official backtracked slightly on Mayorkas’s claim, telling NBC that:

The Biden administration has made it clear that our borders are not open, people should not make the dangerous journey, and individuals and families are subject to border restrictions, including expulsion.

Mayorkas, who insists the United States is a “Nation of Immigrants,” uses small-scale exemptions in immigration law to welcome large-scale inflows of economic migrants.

In April, Mayorkas’s supposedly closed-border policies — or “not open” policies — helped at least 60,000 job seekers to cross the southern border, including illegal “got-aways,” youths claiming to be victimized children, adults with young children, and deported migrants who want to join their migrant children who remained to apply for asylum.

Mayorkas also approved 22,000 extra H-2B visa workers, removed Trump-era curbs on white-collar visa workers, renewed work permits for at least 100,000 Haitian migrants, began awarding work permits to many thousands of Venezuelan migrants, and continued processing the roughly one million legal migrants who are allowed into the United States each year.

Not all migrants get Mayorkas’s welcome.

Many are quickly selected for return to Mexico, as others are allowed to blend into U.S. society via an unpredictable, semi-random process. “The determination of who stays and who goes has become a lottery with winners and losers,” NBC News noted, adding:

While they sat on the curb, waiting to find out what U.S. officials would do with them, 15 single adult men who had been caught crossing the border a few days earlier were released to a nearby shelter, where they waited for flights and buses that would take them to cities across the U.S.

Mayorkas and his allies describe his half-open border as “humane.” Yet those “humane” policies are causing huge damage to many migrants because Mayorkas does not have the public or legal support to welcome the many migrants who hope to enter via Mayorkas’s small side doors.

On June 3, the Associated Press described a migrant who lost Mayorkas’s lottery after mortgaging her home to pay a coyote for transport to the border:

[Alvina Jerónimo Pérez ] put the house up as collateral to pay the smuggler $7,700. “The deal was that when we had arrived there, we were going to pay that money and they would return (the deed), but it wasn’t possible,” she said.

In March 2020, she and her daughter Yessenia, then 14, left Tizamarte. Three weeks later they were caught entering Texas. They were deported a week after that.

When Jerónimo realized they would be sent back, she cried. “I thought of everything the trip had cost me. I asked myself ‘What am I going to do?’ I’ve lost everything.”

“Jerónimo’s story is similar to that of thousands of Guatemalans who scramble to gather the money needed to migrate to the United States,” AP added.

But the distraught losers in Mayorkas’s lottery — and the dead lost in the desert — still serve Mayorkas and his pro-migration allies on Wall Street.

They help to distract the establishment media from the growing number of migrant workers and consumers who are being extracted from poor countries to force down Americans’ wages and drive up Americans’ rents.

The federal government has long allowed migrants to sneak past border guards while it also reassures the anxious public by promising tighter border security. This two-track policy strips wealth from working Americans and from heartland regions by quietly encouraging low-wage migrants to gamble their lives in a chaotic Hunger Games trek of loanscoyotescartelsrapedesertsstormsborder lawsbarriersrescuerstransportjudges, and cheap labor employers.

For many years, a wide variety of pollsters have shown deep and broad opposition to labor migration and the inflow of temporary contract workers into jobs sought by young U.S. graduates.

This opposition is multiracialcross-sexnon-racistclass-basedbipartisanrationalpersistent, and recognizes the solidarity Americans owe to each other.

The voter opposition to elite-backed economic migration coexists with support for legal immigrants and some sympathy for illegal migrants. But only a minority of Americans — mostly leftists — embrace the many skewed polls and articles pushing the 1950’s corporate “Nation of Immigrants” claim.

Migration moves money from employees to employers, from families to investors, from young to old, from children to their parents, from homebuyers to investors, from technology to stoop labor, from red states to blue states, and from the central states to the coastal states such as New York.

DEL RIO, Texas — Some residents are extremely concerned about the continuous flow of migrants in their community. One man, Joe Bernard, worries about his family’s safety. Joe lives less than a mile from the Rio Grande, near a busy crossing point for Haitian and Venezuelan migrants. His family was recently stopped by some in the middle of a roadway.

Bernard’s wife recounted the incident. When traveling home last Friday, she says a group of five stopped her near the family home. “One of the men walked in front of my vehicle and laid flat across the road to make me stop,” she added.

“I was terrified, there were two other men and a female with a baby, I was barely able to swerve around them and not run over the man in the street.”

Joe’s wife says she had just witnessed a similar incident a few moments earlier when another driver was approached by several migrants demanding he halt.

The frustration was heavy in her voice as she ultimately argued: “This comes from the highest level of government–they don’t care one bit about us.”

Due to severe overcrowding, Border Patrol in the Del Rio Sector began to release migrants almost immediately with a “Notice to Report (NTR).” The document advises the mostly Haitians and Venezuelans to report to the nearest immigration office upon reaching their destination of choice.

The NTR replaces the Notice to Appear, an administrative charging document that begins removal proceedings once filed with the Executive Office for Immigration Review. The completion of this casework is time-consuming and results in the overcrowding–forcing the early releases.

Although a practice to speed releases in the Rio Grande Valley was instituted earlier this year for similar reason, the effects are much more noticeable in a small, west Texas town.

The migrants, however, appeared to be in good spirits as they made their way to the local bus stop. One family was thrilled to be working their way to their ultimate destination. Meelios, his wife Samantha, and their young daughter quietly waited for the next ride out of town.

Meelios recounted his more than two-year journey to the United States. He says he left Haiti in 2018 aboard a ship destined for Panama. From there, he and his wife traveled to Chile, where his two-year-old daughter was born. The family’s journey took them on to Nicaragua and through Central America before Mexico and eventually Texas. He says friendly people and odd jobs sustained the family.

Texas Governor Issues Disaster Declaration in Response to Border Crisis

(CNSNews.com) - On June 1, the same day Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas formally ended President Trump's remain-in-Mexico policy, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott issued a disaster declaration for his state's southern border.

"The Governor is authorizing the use of all necessary and available state and local resources to protect landowners in these counties from trespassers and the damage they cause to private property," said a news release from Abbott's office.

"The Governor has also directed the Texas Department of Public Safety to enforce all federal and state criminal laws, including criminal trespassing, smuggling, and human trafficking. The Governor directed the Texas Health and Human Services Commission to take all necessary steps to discontinue state licensure of any child care facility under a contract with the federal government that shelters or detains unlawful immigrants.

The declaration directs authorities to give counties the flexibility they need to establish more detention facilities or to expand the capacity of existing facilities. In other words, Texas is making room for the drug and human smugglers and trespassers it aims to arrest.

"President Biden's open-border policies have paved the way for dangerous gangs and cartels, human traffickers, and deadly drugs like fentanyl to pour into our communities," said Governor Abbott:

Meanwhile, landowners along the border are seeing their property damaged and vandalized on a daily basis while the Biden Administration does nothing to protect them.

Texas continues to step up to confront the border crisis in the federal government's absence, but more must be done. By declaring a state of disaster in these counties, Texas will have more resources and strategies at our disposal to protect landowners and enforce all federal and state laws to combat criminal activities stemming from the border crisis.

Working together with local law enforcement, the state will continue to take robust and meaningful action to keep our communities safe.

Terminate Trump's MPP

In a seven-page memo released on Tuesday, Homeland Security Secretary said he has decided that President Trump's Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) that required asylum seekers to remain in Mexico pending adjudication of their immigration claims "is no longer a necessary or viable tool for the Department."

Mayorkas directed DHS personnel to “take all appropriate actions to terminate MPP,” after finding that MPP “had mixed effectiveness in achieving several of its central goals.”

“I have determined that MPP does not adequately or sustainably enhance border management in such a way as to justify the program’s extensive operational burdens and other shortfalls.” Mayorkas also said preserving MPP "would not be consistent with this Administration’s vision and values."

He noted that while MPP was in effect, border crossings fluctuated. “Moreover, in making my assessment, I share the belief that we can only manage migration in an effective, responsible and durable manner if we approach the issue comprehensively, looking well beyond our own borders.”

Reacting to the MPP termination on Tuesday night, Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) told Fox News's Laura Ingraham that reversing Trump's policies, which discouraged illegal immigration, has produced an "out-of-control" situation.

Look at what President Trump did. I mean, he started building the wall, but he negotiated agreements with Mexico. He negotiated agreements with the northern triangle countries. And it stopped the flow of illegals into the border on mass scale.

If you look at what's happening now, it's completely out of control. And it's not just South and Central America. We have over 150 different countries where people have come across our southern border illegally, including people on the terrorist watch list. And Kamala Harris is directly responsible for it, and she is trying to dump this off on somebody else because she has mismanaged it.

We've invited her down to the border. I've brought members of Congress, probably 100 members of Congress have been down on the Republican side to the border. The Border Patrol agents all tell you the same thing. Remain in Mexico is the biggest thing, but them just putting a flashing light saying the border is open.

They know it's open all across Central America. Kamala Harris needs to go down, see for herself, and then put those policies back in place that were working.

George W. Bush Center: Amnesty for Illegal Aliens ‘Essential’ to Securing Southern Border

Former President George W. Bush’s public policy organization states that amnesty for illegal aliens is “essential” to securing the United States-Mexico border as illegal immigration continues to soar under President Joe Biden’s administration.

In an op-ed for the Dallas Morning News, the George W. Bush Center’s Natalie Gonnella-Platts and Jenny Villatoro write that a massive amnesty for most of the nation’s 11-to-22 million illegal aliens is necessary as part of a broader border security initiative.

“Immigration reform in the United States is essential to assuring that we have a secure and efficient border, a system flexible enough to handle changes in migrant flows, and the capacity to treat each migrant with dignity,” the Bush Center executives continue:

Any comprehensive plan on Central America and immigration reform should address gender inequity and gender-based violence.

How can anyone be expected to thrive when her day-to-day priority is simply to survive? The United States needs to recognize that gender-based violence and gender inequity drive migration.

The op-ed is part of a larger amnesty coalition where Bush has lobbied Republican lawmakers for months to craft an amnesty for illegal aliens with the Biden administration — including increases to legal immigration levels beyond their already historically high rates.

The lobbying has been in coalition with corporate interests such as the Koch-funded Americans for Prosperity, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Business Roundtable, the Bloomberg-funded New American Economy, the Texas Association of Business, and taxpayer-funded refugee contractors.

Bush’s plan is merely a revitalization of his highly unpopular “Any Willing Worker” policy from the early 2000s, where his administration sought to open the nation’s borders to millions of illegal aliens willing to take low-wage jobs from Americans while increasing legal immigration to drive down U.S. wages in the labor market.

The amnesty coalition is hugely opposed by Republican voters, polling has shown.

A Rasmussen Reports survey released this week reveals that 83 percent of likely Republican voters support nationwide mandatory E-Verify to ban employers from hiring illegal aliens for U.S. jobs and 72 percent said they oppose amnesty for illegal aliens, including 52 percent who said they are “strongly opposed” to such a plan.

Already, current immigration levels put downward pressure on U.S. wages while redistributing about $500 billion in wealth away from America’s working and middle class and towards employers and new arrivals, research by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine has found.

Similarly, peer reviewed research by economist Christoph Albert acknowledges that “as immigrants accept lower wages, they are preferably chosen by firms and therefore have higher job finding rates than natives, consistent with evidence found in U.S. data.” Albert’s research also finds that immigration “raises competition” for native-born Americans in the labor market.

Migrant Releases to Catholic Charities640

McALLEN, Texas – The downtown Central Station bus terminal and the Catholic Charities Respite Center across the street were bustling with released migrants on Tuesday. The terminal is the last step of the release process for hundreds of migrants freed by the Border Patrol daily.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection reports more than 1,000 migrants will cross the border illegally every day in the Rio Grande Valley. Most single adult males and females will be quickly expelled under the CDC’s Title 42 Emergency Covid-19 order still in place under the Biden Administration. Unaccompanied migrant children are transferred to Health and Human Services (HHS) shelters to coordinate reunification with family members or sponsors within the United States.

For hundreds of others, mostly family units with tender age children, they will be released to the Catholic respite center if they lack funds for travel or in some cases, directly to the Central Bus terminal. From there, the released migrants travel to all parts of the country. None are issued Notices to Appear (NTA) for removal hearings. They are trusted to report for immigration proceedings at their intended destinations.

In addition to the Border Patrol releases, dozens of asylum applicants once forced to remain in Mexico during the Trump administration are now being allowed to enter to pursue their claims.

The respite center, housed in a former night club, is operated by Sister Norma Pimentel. The Catholic Charities center provides the released migrants with shelter, food, and clothing. The respite center has also aided in Covid-19 testing. If needed, they help the migrants with travel arrangements at the nearby bus terminal.

Breitbart Texas spoke with Genaro, a taxi driver, who spends several hours a day parked at the terminal in search of customers. In Spanish he says, “It’s constant, the traffic of people being released in vans and buses right here or behind the bus station.” He has worked in the area for years and says seeing the releases is just part of life in a border town. “There may be more now than I have ever seen, but there have always been illegals at the bus station looking to leave,” he added.

For the multitude of family unit migrants, the Catholic respite center and bus depot are the last places along the southern border they will visit before making tracks to their intended destinations. Sylvia, a Honduran national, was traveling with her two small daughters and had injured an ankle in the area during a walk from the Rio Grande River near La Joya, Texas.

Sylvia said she left her home roughly two weeks ago to make the journey to the United States from Honduras. “I came mostly by bus and arrived in Reynosa, Mexico, four days ago. I relied on people there to shelter us out of kindness.”

She and her children were still wearing the wrist bracelets used by Mexican cartels to track migrants who made their payment or “piso” to cross the Rio Grande. She said her family has committed to paying $7,000 for her trip to New Orleans.

Biden’s Commerce Sec. Spurns U.S. Chamber’s Demand for Foreign Workers

President Joe Biden’s commerce secretary bolstered evidence of a deep split over immigration policy in the administration when she spurned demands by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for a greater inflow of foreign workers into U.S. jobs.

The rejection was delivered Wednesday by commerce secretary Gina Raimondo when she joined an online session of business leaders who were demanding the government provide them with many indentured workers in place of hiring Americans.

Raimondo’s denial is more evidence of a deep split between within the administration — whether to boost wages and training by ensuring a tight labor market, or whether to maximize employment and stock market gains by importing waves of cheap and compliant foreign workers for the jobs needed by Americans.

The  Raimondo interview came after chamber officials invited member executives to demand a federal  “Operation Warp Speed” to double the population of roughly  two million cheap and compliant visa workers who now hold Americans’ jobs. This demand for foreign labor comes as the chambers’ employers are forced to raise wages to compete for willing American workers in a tight labor market.

Since 2018, the lower-migration wage pressure has been a growing shock to many executives — especially in the food sector — who had become accustomed to a bubble of cheap imported labor after President George H. Bush signed the 1990 immigration expansion law,

The chamber’s president and CEO, Suzanne Clark, invited Raimondo to endorse more migration:

And you know, the Chamber has said we need an Operation Warp Speed for jobs. What advice do you have to the state and local chambers across the country listening today, to large and small business leaders across the country, that are listening today? How do we instill this sense of urgency in more people?

Raimondo — a long-time ally of Biden — repeatedly spurned Clarke’s invite, and instead touted training, higher wages, and jobs for marginalized Americans over more immigration:

Look we have to do it. Again, I just was with somebody who runs a big company, and he said he right now is holding 1,000 open spots, because he literally cannot find people to take those jobs. And also, we have tens of millions of Americans working living in poverty because they don’t make enough because they don’t have the skills to get a higher paying job. So let’s do it. I’m committed to it.

The other thing [is] look at tech. [There is] so much discussion about competition competing with China, leaning into tech. That all revolves around talent. We aren’t going to compete successfully if we don’t have talent in science and technology. And not all of that is PhDs. A lot of that can be done with these sector-focused job-training programs.

So as far as I’m concerned, no matter how you slice it, if you care about equity, if you care about raising wages, if you care about American competitiveness, this [worker training] is at the heart of it. And we have a moment right now, to do it differently than has ever been done before and to really help businesses and help employees at the same time.

Raimondo pushed “diversity and equity” instead of migration:

When we did this in Rhode Island during [the coronavirus epidemic], we set up the 7,000 [apprenticeships], we were committing ourselves that more than half would be women, and more than 25 percent would be people of color. And we also said we wanted to make sure we had, you know, formerly incarcerated people could have a chance, people in recovery could have a chance. Because often those are the folks that are hardest to employ. And they’re not going to get a job unless they have some tangible skill.

Once the Rainmondo interview ended, Clark ignored the rejection and repeated the chamber’s demand for more foreign workers:

The world’s best and brightest who want to pour their talent and energy into our economy should have every opportunity to do so, which is why the Chamber will continue to lead the charge for doubling employment-based immigration, including H-1B [mid-skill] and H-2B [labor] visas …

Whether it’s writing a letter, sending an email, or making a call to your elected officials urging legislative action, you can directly lobby your members of Congress or state leaders or implementers, [to] support some of the ideas and initiatives discuss today in your own communities.

The Raimondo statement makes her a possible opponent of the American replacement policies favored by Alejandro Mayorkas, Biden’s secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.

His department was intended to guard the nation’s borders, but he is inviting a mass of job-seeking migrants to enter the U.S. workplaces via the many small doors in immigration law that were designed for low numbers of asylum seekers, parole recipients, victimized children, crime victims, or people stranded by homeland disasters.

In April, Mayorkas’s policies helped at least 60,000 job seekers to cross the southern border. He also approved 22,000 extra H-2B visa workers, removed Trump-era curbs on white-collar visa workers, renewed work permits for at least 100,000 Haitian migrants, and began awarding work permits to many thousands of Venezuelan migrants.

Biden is on both sides of the wages vs migration divide. He has repeatedly called for more migration and national amnesties — yet he also argues for a tight labor market to raise wages and productivity.

Biden explained his support for the long-standing and very popular goal of a tight labor market in a May 28 speech:

Rising wages aren’t a bug; they’re a feature.  We want to get — we want to get something economists call “full employment.”  Instead of workers competing with each other for jobs that are scarce, we want employees to compete with each other to attract wrk.  We want the — the companies to compete to attract workers.

But here’s the deal: From 1948 after the war, to 1977 — I think it was 1977 — ’79 — productivity in America grew by 100 percent.  We made more things — productivity.  You know what the workers’ pay grew?  By 100 percent.

“Full employment” also means more options and opportunities for workers — including Black, Hispanic workers, Asian American workers, women — who’ve been left behind in previous economic recoveries when the labor market never tighten- — tightened up enough.

Look, this isn’t just good for individual workers, it also makes our economy a whole lot stronger.  When American workers have more money to spend, American businesses benefit.  We all benefit.  Higher wages and more options for workers are a good thing.

The Biden split may be just incoherence instead of infighting, suggested Roy Beck, the former journalist who founded NumbersUSA:

I have a sense that [Biden], like most politicians, have never really thought carefully about tight vs. loose labor markets. Mainly, what they know is, well, if the economy is booming, you have a tighter labor market. They don’t really stop and look at, ‘”Okay, where are the workers coming from? … But it is willing ignorance. You want something to be true, and if some inconvenient fact pops up, you look for somebody that will tell you “No, it’s not true” so you can say “Okay, that’s enough because I want to believe that first thing.” … In the end, he is willing to be ignorant on these things because having as many immigrants as possible in this country as possible is the most important thing to him.

Biden “wants to believe that there is no level of immigration that could be harmful to America … [but Mayorkas’s] immigration policies work against nearly every economic — especially racial — that he says he is for,” Beck told Breitbart News.

If not corrected, that self-deception will eventually lead to him to implement President George W. Bush’s “Any Willing Worker” cheap labor policies for the benefit of business interests, Beck added.

Many clever progressives put themselves through mental gymnastics not to choose between wages and migration. For example, Washington Post columnist Paul Waldman started a June 1 column with the headline “Democrats must make a much clearer case for immigration,” but he ended simply saying, “immigration is good, full stop … the ultimate end point Democrats are seeking [is]: More legal immigration, less illegal immigration. It shouldn’t be that hard to communicate.”

“They’re deceiving themselves,” said Mark Krikorian, director of the Center for Immigration Studies. “It is not some kind of plot, it is they genuinely want two things that are incompatible, and when push comes to shove, open immigration always wins.”

“It’s not even that they pretend the immigration isn’t in conflict with the labor market — they just literally don’t even think that far,” he said. They are clever enough to have disciplined themselves to stop thinking before they recognize inconvenient conflicts, he said. Author George Orwell invented a term in his 1984 book for that self-discipline process, he added; “Crimestop.”

Donald Trump: Joe Biden Facilitating ‘Greatest Border Disaster in History’

Former President Donald Trump is blasting President Joe Biden’s ending the “Remain in Mexico” program that helped massively cut asylum fraud, stating that he is facilitating the “greatest border disaster in history.”

Immediately after taking office, Biden suspended the Remain in Mexico program, nearly two years after it was implemented by the Trump administration to reduce asylum fraud. Days later, Biden instructed top Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials to strategize a plan that would release at least 25,600 migrants enrolled in the program into the U.S. interior.

This week, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced the official end of Remain in Mexico. As of May 25, the Biden administration has released about 11,200 migrants enrolled in the program into the U.S. interior and provided work permits so they can take American jobs.

In a statement on Wednesday, Trump slammed Biden for the move:

Remain in Mexico, also known as MPP (Migrant Protection Protocols), was not only a historic foreign policy triumph but one of the most successful border security programs anyone has ever put into effect anywhere. Along with our Central America Safe Third agreements, asylum reforms, and expedited removal procedures we drove border numbers to record lows and we ENDED the horrendous practice known as Catch-and-Release. [Emphasis added]

No American President had ever done more to defend the border and safeguard the whole immigration system. [Emphasis added]

The Biden administration inherited the most secure border in history, and they turned it into the greatest border disaster in history. Our border is now run by cartels, criminals, and coyotes. Illegal immigrants, gang members, and lethal drugs are pouring across like never before. Not only are illegal immigrants being caught and released, they are being put up in hotels at taxpayer expense. [Emphasis added]

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) echoed Trump’s statement, blaming Biden’s anti-enforcement agenda for creating “the worst humanitarian, national security, and public health crisis ever seen at our southern border.” It went on:

This decision is the latest in a long line of misguided policies from President Biden and the Democrats, and it’s imperative that the Biden administration immediately reverses this irresponsible decision and reinstates the ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy before the crisis gets even worse.

Neither of the statements mentioned the impact of Biden’s anti-enforcement agenda on the wages, jobs, and economic well-being of America’s working and lower-middle class who are the most likely to compete against illegal aliens for American jobs.

Particularly, Remain in Mexico migrants released into the U.S. interior are being provided with one-year work permits whereby they can hold American jobs while awaiting their asylum hearings.

At the same time, about 16.4 million Americans remain jobless and another 5.2 million are underemployed, but all want full-time work with good wages and competitive benefits.

To date, of the more than 71,000 Remain in Mexico asylum cases, less than one percent have been found to have a legitimate asylum claim to stay in the U.S. More than 45 percent of migrants enrolled in Remain in Mexico were issued a deportation order and about 41 percent are still awaiting an outcome in their case.

At the current pace, analysis projects about 1.2 million illegal aliens are expected to be encountered at the U.S.-Mexico border by the end of the year. This does not include the hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens who successfully cross into the U.S., undetected.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has issued a disaster declaration amid the growing flood of poor economic migrants invited to the United States by President Joe Biden.

“President Biden’s open-border policies have paved the way for dangerous gangs and cartels, human traffickers, and deadly drugs like fentanyl to pour into our communities,” said the June 1 statement from Abbott’s office. The statement continued:

By declaring a state of disaster in these counties, Texas will have more resources and strategies at our disposal to protect landowners and enforce all federal and state laws to combat criminal activities stemming from the border crisis.

Breitbart News has reported on the growing migration — and the resulting rise in crime. “We have had these human smugglers go through our town going 80 miles an hour in a 35-mile speed zone,” Pinky Gonzales, sheriff of Refugio County, Texas, said April 28. “They have no regard for property or human lives … We have just been overwhelmed with these cases,” he said.

The declaration allows Texas officials to impose tougher penalties on law-breaking migrants and ask the federal government for money to cover their economic costs.

Biden’s deputies responded to Abbott’s declaration by suggesting he will endanger migrant children.

The “top priority is the health and safety of the children in our care,” said the tweeted response by the spokeswoman for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

The reaction was made possible because Abbott’s declaration orders officials to shut down licensing approvals for the federal government’s Texas-based welcome centers for child and youth migrants.

The HHS spokeswoman, Sarah Loveheim, continued, “We are assessing the Texas directive concerning licensed facilities providing care to unaccompanied children and do not intend to close any facilities as a result of the order.”

Administration officials routinely spotlight migrant children to shift attention away from the economic damage of migration, said Rob Law, the director of regulatory affairs and policy at the Center for Immigration Studies.

“It’s another example of [Biden’s agencies] propping up children as the convenient deflection pawn in the longer game, which is unlimited immigration to lower the wages of Americans,” he said.

Numerous polls show that swing voters are deeply concerned about the economic threat posed by the business-backed mass-migration strategy. However, GOP leaders prefer to ignore the economic harm and instead push base-mobilization messages about border chaos and crime.

Abbott faces a 2022 reelection campaign in Texas.

The administration’s migration strategy is being implemented by Alejandro Mayorkas, Biden’s secretary for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). He is admitting many job-seeking migrants via the legal side doors that were created for small numbers of asylum seekers, parole recipients, victimized children, refugees, crime victims, or visa workers.

Mayorkas and his allies are trying to suppress the public’s growing concern by portraying their wage-cutting, rent-raising economic migration as just a heartwarming reunification of divided children and parents.

So Biden’s aides portray Abbot’s disaster declaration as an attack on children, not as a defense of Americans from the migrati0n.

Abbott’s five-page declaration directed state agencies to withdraw operating licenses for the government’s welcome centers. The centers are used to provide legal paperwork to the migrant youths and children before they are handed over to their parents or flown to jobs throughout the United States. Without Texas licenses, the Biden administration would have to send the children and youths to sites in other states.

The administration’s focus on children also encourages allies in the establishment media to ignore the much larger inflow of adults and their children, said Law. Those migrants are being allowed to compete for U.S. jobs and housing, despite the obvious economic harm that competition does to lower-income Americans.

In April, that job-seeking inflow included roughly 40,000 migrants who sneaked across the border, plus many many of the tens of thousands of migrants who are admitted through the border, despite the Title 42 healthcare barrier against the coronavirus.

Moreover, most of the “unaccompanied children” are job-seeking young men.

The youths and children are escorted to the U.S. border by coyotes under contracts with their illegal migrant parents working in U.S. jobs. Once the coyotes pay a “piso” toll to the cartels at the border, they hand the children to Biden’s agents, who then complete the contracts by flying the youths and children to their parents and job markets.

The administration and the media ignore labor migration because they despise blue-collar working Americans, said Law. He continued:

The plight of lower-skilled workers is just irrelevant [to them] — it’s boring, it’s just not worth covering. And so that’s why they go to the shiny object — The children! — and which allows them to be sympathetic, to feel compassion for the [children].

Establishment media outlets hope the economic damage remains hidden, he said.  “By not covering the harm that mass migration has on Americans’ wages and job opportunities, they try to snuff out its existence,  as if immigration cannot harm American workers if they don’t write about it,” he said.

State GOP leaders, including Abbott, should use state laws to protect working Americans from Mayorkas’ flood of cheap migrant labor, he added:

They can’t fix all of the mess caused by the Biden administration policies, but there are certain things that they can do, such as [establish] mandatory E-Verify, enforce the laws against employers for hiring legal areas, and strip business licenses or favorable tax status from the companies that exploit the alien workers to the detriment of fair wages and opportunities for Americans.

It is incumbent on state officials to sue the unlawful side doors that the Biden administration is creating [in immigration law]. Failure to do so will give it implicit legitimacy and you’ll never be able to get that genie back into the bottle and it will render the immigration laws meaningless by allowing the permament creation of a side door immigration policy.

Texas officials have filed multiple lawsuits against Biden’s migration policies, including lawsuits against Mayorkas’s policy of not deporting migrants and against Biden’s policy of continuing the 2012 giveaway of work permits to at least 600,000 illegal migrants under the so-called DACA program.

The deep public opposition to labor migration is built on the widespread recognition that legal and illegal migration moves money away from most Americans’ pocketbooks and families.

Migration moves money from employees to employers, from families to investors, from young to old, from children to their parents, from homebuyers to investors, from technology to stoop labor, from red states to blue states, and from the central states to the coastal states such as New York.

Gov. Abbott Pulls Licenses of Biden's Illegal Alien Housing Facilities

This is the kind of tactic we often see the Left do. And that we very rarely see conservatives even contemplate. It's why the battle between the two sides consists of conservatives playing checkers while their opponents play chess.

The Left has a deep toolbox of procedural tactics that it's always expanding. It benefits from a huge network with lots of allies and the knowledge that it can go outside, around, and through the law with little to no consequences. But even so there's a huge failure of strategic imagination in conservative politics.

So it's good to see governors like DeSantis and Abbott actually showing what you can do when you start working the system, instead of whining about how the system is unfair.

Escalating his showdown with President Joe Biden, Gov. Greg Abbott on Tuesday ordered state child-care regulators to yank licenses from facilities that house minors who crossed the state’s southern border without papers and were detained.

Currently, 52 state-licensed general residential operations and child placing agencies in Texas have contracts with the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement to care for undocumented immigrant children. ORR contracts with about 200 facilities in 22 states.

Within three months or so, Abbott’s move apparently would force them to stop serving unaccompanied minors because the facilities must have state licenses to qualify for the federal contracts.

Is this a kill shot? No.

BLOG EDITOR: FOR THE LAWYER CLASS IT'S ALL ABOUT GAMING THE LAWS. THAT IS WHAT LAWYER JOE BIDEN AND LAWYER KAMALA HARRIS DO DAY IN AND DAY OUT.

The Democrats have plenty of judges and experts who will find a way through, over, or around it. But they'll have to do that, which puts them on the defensive.

And that, frankly, rarely happens in the battle between the two sides.

Lefties assail Republican administration with total warfare attacks coming from all directions, overwhelming them with lawsuits, investigations, scandals, and countless procedural obstacles, leaks, and acts of internal sabotage.

This is the kind of clever procedural sabotage that Team Open Borders will recover from, but that's the whole point. Part of the game is keeping the other side on the defensive, getting them into a reactive mode, which lefties do very well to Republicans. Do this often enough and you stretch their resources thin and divert their focus. This is what the Left did very well to the Trump administration.

Now the Biden administration is getting a small taste of the same medicine.

Biden: 'Simply Un-American' for States to Pass Voting Reforms That Boost Election Security

(CNSNews.com) - On a trip to Tulsa where he focused on racial hatred and division, President Joe Biden brought up voting rights and the Democrats' push to pass H.R. 1, a bill that would relax voting rules and give the federal government more control over how states and localities run their elections.

Democrats continue to make the case that Republican state legislatures are specifically trying to suppress the black vote by requiring voter identification, for example, or by eliminating the unsolicited mailing of ballots to everyone on the voter registration rolls, which often are outdated.

"We must find the courage to change the things we know we can change," Biden said, as he discussed his administration's expanded effort to boost "black wealth creation" through housing and jobs programs.

"But just as fundamental as any of these investments I've discussed is maybe the most fundamental -- the right to vote," Biden said, as he invoked the late Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), for whom the Democrats' "voting rights" bill is named.

"But you know what John said?" Biden asked. "He called the right to vote precious, almost sacred. He said (it is) the most powerful non-violent tool we have in a democratic society.

"This sacred right is under assault with incredible intensity like I've never seen, even though I got started as a public defender and a civil rights lawyer. With an intensity and aggressiveness that we've not seen in a long, long time. It's simply un-American," Biden said.

Un-American?

Texas is among the Republican-led states that has come under leftists' fire for election reforms it has so far been unable to pass.

As Gov. Greg Abbott described it, the bill, which he declared to be an emergency measure, would "prevent election officials from jeopardizing the election process and encouraging voter fraud through the abuse of mail ballots and drive-thru voting.” The bill also would promote transparency at the polls by ensuring that poll watchers in Texas are not obstructed from observing the counting of ballots.

"Our objective in Texas is to ensure that every eligible voter gets to vote and that only eligible ballots are counted," said Governor Abbott in a March news release. "In the 2020 election, we witnessed actions throughout our state that could risk the integrity of our elections and enable voter fraud, which is why I made election integrity an emergency item this session."

(Biden in a news release called the Texas bill an attack on "the sacred right to vote" and an "assault on democracy.")

In Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis recently signed into law an "election integrity" bill that strengthens existing voter ID laws, bans ballot harvesting, prohibits unsolicited mass mailing of ballots, increases election transparency, and prohibits private money from administering elections.

While Florida already requires identification to vote, Senate Bill 90 will require additional identification information when changing any voter registration information, or requesting a vote by mail ballot, preventing fraud and securing the voter rolls.

But to Biden and his fellow Democrats, rules like the ones mentioned above will suppress the vote, even though American voters have never had so many options for early voting, absentee voting, and in-person voting.

'Assault on the right to vote'

"In 2020 we faced a tireless assault on the right to vote," Biden claimed in Tulsa on Tuesday:

Restrictive laws, lawsuits, threats to--of intimidation, voter purges, and more. We resolved to overcome it all, and we did. More Americans voted in the last election than any--in the midst of a pandemic, than any election in American history.

You got voters registered. You got voters to the polls. The rule of law held. Democracy prevailed. We overcame. But today, let me be unequivocal. I've been engaged in this work my whole career, and we're going to be ramping up our efforts to overcome again.

I will have more to say about this at a later date, the truly unprecedented assault on our democracy, an effort to replace nonpartisan election administrators and to intimidate those charged with tallying and reporting the election results. But today, as for the act of voting itself, I urge voting rights groups in this country to begin to redouble their efforts now to register and educate voters.

And in June--And June should be a month of action on Capitol Hill. I hear all the folks on TV saying, "Why doesn't Biden get this done?" Well, because Biden only has a majority of effectively four votes in the House and a tie in the Senate, with two members of the Senate who vote more with my Republican friends. But we're not giving up.

Earlier this year, the House of Representatives passed the For the People Act to protect our democracy. The Senate will take it up later this month. And I'm going to fight like heck with every tool at my disposal for its passage. The House is also working on the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, which is--which is critical to providing new legal tools--to combat the new assault on the right to vote.

To signify the importance of our efforts, today I'm asking Vice President Harris to help these efforts and lead them, among her many other responsibilities. With her leadership and your support, we're going to overcome again, I promise you. But is going to take a hell of a lot of work...

According to a summary provided by the Congressional Research Service, H.R. 1 would expand voter registration (e.g., automatic and same-day registration) and voting access (e.g., vote-by-mail and early voting). It also limits the removal of voters from voter rolls.

The bill requires states to establish independent redistricting commissions to carry out congressional redistricting. And it addresses campaign finance, boosting taxpayer funding for people seeking certain federal offices.

The bill addresses ethics in all three branches of government, including by requiring a code of conduct for Supreme Court Justices, prohibiting Members of the House from serving on the board of a for-profit entity, and establishing additional conflict-of-interest and ethics provisions for federal employees and the White House.

The bill requires the President, the Vice President, and certain candidates for those offices to disclose 10 years of tax returns.

House Republicans Demand Answers on Border Crisis

Congressional Republicans are pushing the Biden administration for answers on the border crisis as illegal crossings surge under President Joe Biden's leadership.

Five Republican lawmakers from the Committee on Education and Labor sent a letter Thursday to the secretaries of the Health and Human Services and Homeland Security departments raising concerns over how the Biden administration's policies are "fueling a child safety crisis." The lawmakers pointed to the potential for minors to become entangled in child trafficking.

"As migrants see more opportunities to enter the country, we are concerned about the harm that may befall the children and resurgence of child trafficking," the lawmakers wrote. "With record numbers of children crossing the border, we believe it is imperative to understand what the federal government is doing to protect children crossing the border. The administration must treat this crisis as the emergency that it is and actively prevent predators from exploiting weaknesses in the enforcement of our laws."

The letter requests answers to several questions concerning how the federal departments are handling the unaccompanied minors to prevent them from falling into the hands of human traffickers. It also requests details on how the agencies are coordinating to deal with the crisis. The letter is led by Rep. Virginia Foxx (R., N.C.), the ranking member of the House Committee on Education and Labor.

Early in 2021, a massive influx of children crossing the border left administration officials scrambling to arrange for detainment facilities for the unaccompanied children. March saw the largest number of unaccompanied children stopped at the border in U.S. history, with close to 19,000 being stopped by authorities. In April, the number of children detained at the border dropped but remained near a 20-year high as migrant numbers remained high overall.

Intel Community Warns Biden of Terror Threat at Mexican Border

Intelligence officials told the White House in a classified briefing that individuals with ties to terrorist groups may be illegally crossing the southern border, contradicting claims by Democrats that the immigration crisis does not constitute a national security threat.

Immigrants with connections to Islamic terrorist groups have begun taking advantage of what one senior Customs and Border Protection official called "a porous border." In April, border patrol officers arrested two Yemeni nationals on a terrorist watch list. National security officials have pledged to assist officers in counterterrorism operations at the U.S.-Mexico border to help the strapped agency handle the influx of threats, according to a memo reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon.

The classified report on Yemeni nationals received "positive feedback" from senior Biden officials, according to one government document. It remains unclear whether the Biden administration ordered the study, which was written by Customs and Border Protection in conjunction with the National Counterterrorism Center. The White House did not respond to a request for comment.

"Our southern border is too easy to cross and everyone knows it, but unfortunately securing the border has become a partisan issue with Republicans in favor and Democrats against," Sen. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.) told the Free Beacon after reviewing the government document. "But let me tell you who doesn’t care about our domestic partisan politics: human traffickers exploiting vulnerable women and children from Central America, and those that wish to do us harm."

Customs and Border Protection officials have recorded a surge in foreign nationals arriving on the southwest border from outside Latin America in recent months. Individuals from as far away as India are attempting to seek asylum in the United States, claiming the COVID-19 pandemic has devastated the economy in their home countries. The revelation underscores challenges facing the United States as it sees some of the highest levels of illegal immigration in recent history.

Democrats have downplayed national security risks associated with illegal immigration for years, alleging that such stories are nothing more than a false pretense for the GOP to crack down on the border.

Multiple Democrats accused House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.) of lying when he said terror suspects had been caught at the border. On March 15, Rep. Ruben Gallego (D., Ariz.) said McCarthy was either "wrong or lying." Rep. Veronica Escobar (D., Texas) said claims of terrorists crossing the border were used "to fuel the divisions" in the country. And Rep. Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) called GOP questions about the issue "hysteria" and "not about the safety of Americans." Omar went as far as to say that investigations into whether terrorists are infiltrating the southern border are "dangerous and violent for those that are the least fortunate in our immigration population." None of the Democrats responded to requests for comment.

McCarthy said it is no surprise that America's enemies would attempt to exploit the border crisis. He accused the administration of publicly playing politics with the border even as it privately acknowledges potential threats.

"President Biden and Vice President Harris’s own policies created the crisis at the southern border. Not only do they continue to ignore the crisis, but their message that the border is open has been heard around the world," McCarthy said. "Border patrol agents told us that it was not just people from Central and South America attempting to cross our border, but people from overseas countries thousands of miles away, including Yemen. And despite the increased security concerns, the vice president—the government official appointed to oversee the border crisis—has gone 70 days without traveling to the border."

Monitoring the southern border for suspected terrorists has long been a priority for immigration authorities. Critics of the Biden administration say Democratic policies have incentivized illegal immigrants from around the world to try to enter the country. The record number of border crossings have overwhelmed Customs and Border Protection officials, making it far more difficult to flag or monitor individuals with suspected ties to terrorist groups or hostile regimes.

"Terrorist and transnational criminal organizations are well aware of the stress immigration officials are facing. They're monitoring us from across the border and then sending kids and family groups over. Once the agents respond, the cartels increase smuggling activities because they know we've deployed resources which are limited," a senior border patrol official told the Free Beacon. "Terror groups understand how these operations work and can exploit vulnerabilities to their benefit."

That cat-and-mouse game is backed by intel within Customs and Border Protection, the official said. Cartels and terrorist organizations closely watch publicly available border-apprehension numbers to know when law enforcement is spread thin.

The White House has publicly deferred questions on the topic to individual agencies. Although Biden's National Security Council has received reports on terrorist threats from the southern border, his administration has tried to maintain distance from the problem.

"Well, first, let me convey that these types of incidents are very uncommon," White House press secretary Jen Psaki said on April 6 when asked about the apprehension of the two Yemeni nationals. "And [Customs and Border Protection] and [the Department of Homeland Security] can speak more to the timeline and the specifics, of course, in these particular cases and encounters. But encounters of known and suspected terrorists are very uncommon."

Rubio said the administration is acting in bad faith when it downplays border threats publicly, even as it acknowledges the gravity of the situation behind closed doors.

"We need to take the threat seriously and take immediate action to secure our border because terrorists are looking to exploit this known weakness," he said.

Pinpointing the exact number of suspected terrorists apprehended on the border remains difficult. Customs and Border Protection, which did not respond to a request for comment, does not provide complete data on such apprehensions because of national security concerns. A report from the Justice Department and the Department of Homeland Security released in 2018 said 2,554 individuals on the terrorist watch list tried entering the country in 2017, which is about seven per day.

O’Rourke: Biden, Dems Have to Pass the ‘For the People Act’ — ‘Do or Die for America Right Now’

3:07

Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX) said Tuesday on MSNBC’s “All In” that Senate Democrats and President Joe Biden have to do whatever it takes to pass the For the People Act because it was “do or die for America right now.”

O’Rourke said, “A few weeks ago when Senate Bill 7, the anti-voter elections bill that was working its way through the Texas House and Senate was being debated, we convened a rally outside the Texas Capitol in Austin, and on 24 hours’ notice, we were able to get the largest crowd of this year, of this legislative session standing up for voting rights and speaking out against voter suppression. So the people of Texas, more so than just Democrats, are fired up about this. They understand it is about our democracy. What you see in Texas, what passed in Georgia, in Florida, in Iowa, in Montana, this could spell the end of multiracial democracy that was guaranteed in 1965 by our fellow Texan, LBJ, when he signed into law the Voting Rights Act. So I think people understand just how precarious and important this moment is. It calls upon all of us to do all we can while we still have this window to act thanks by the way, to the Texas Statehouse Democrats who stopped that voter suppression bill, bought us a window of time. We may have about the month of June within which to get the for The People Act passed in the U.S. Senate, and that puts an end to what they’re trying to do in Texas, Georgia, and about 45 other state legislatures across the country.”

He continued, “I want the Senate Democrats and President Biden to take a page from the Texas House Democrats…They’re in the minority, and yet they were able to stop this awful voter suppression bill in Texas. Democrats in the U.S. Senate are in the majority. Let’s be very clear about what Republicans want to do. Not only do they not want to investigate the January 6th insurrection where five people, including a Capitol police officer, were killed, they want to roll back the right to vote in almost every single state in this country. Chris, you’ve got to understand this, in Texas, that bill was going to allow for the overturning of elections based on just the allegation of fraud. So you can imagine in 2024, a Democrat wins the 40 Electoral College votes in Texas. Republicans could allege fraud and overturn that election just as we know they’re going to try to do in Georgia and Florida and other states unless we have the For the People Act. So this is a time for Democrats to act. This is our moment of truth to step up and stand up for this country. We lose this moment at our peril and to the peril of American democracy. I really think it is make or break, do or die for America right now. We’ve got to have those Senate Democrats and President Biden come through for us.”

He added, “We need the Senate to pass the For the People Act. I just think it is that simple. That’s the solution, and Senate Democrats have to step up and get it done.”

Joe Biden: ‘Terrorism from White Supremacy’ the ‘Most Lethal Threat to the Homeland’

President Joe Biden asserted Tuesday that terrorism from white supremacy was “the most lethal threat” facing the United States.

Biden spoke about the threat of white supremacy during a speech in Tulsa marking the 100th anniversary of the 1921 race massacre in the Greenwood neighborhood.

“According to the intelligence community, terrorism from white supremacy is the most lethal threat to the homeland today,” Biden said. “Not ISIS. Not Al Qaeda. White supremacists.”

Biden was likely referring to a statement from acting U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf, who told members of Congress that white supremacy was “the most persistent and lethal threat” to the United States in September 2020. In October 2020, DHS released a report showing that white supremacist extremism accounted for more fatal attacks than any other domestic violent extremist group since 2018.

Biden revisited the massacre of the black community in Tulsa to show the long history of white supremacists in the country — comparing it to the clash between the protesters in Charlottesville.

“What happened in Greenwood was an act of hate and domestic terrorism, with a through-line that exists today,” he said. “Just close your eyes and remember what you saw in Charlottesville four years ago on television.”

173 Migrants Found in Stash Houses near Border in Texas

Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector apprehended nearly 175 migrants in multiple human smuggling stash house operations over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Agents took the migrants into custody and processed them under CBP guidelines.

On June 1, Rio Grande Valley Sector (RGV) agent received information about a mobile home being utilized as a human smuggling stash house near La Grulla, Texas, according to information obtained from Border Patrol officials. Agents arrived and found 24 migrants inside the mobile home. Agents identified the migrants as foreign nationals from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico.

On Memorial Day, McAllen Station agents received a call from the Mission, Texas, Police Department regarding a migrant who escaped from a human smuggling stash house. The migrant directed the agents to the stash house where they found 62 migrants inside the residence. Law enforcement officers did not find a “caretaker” inside the home.

McAllen Station agents received information about another smuggling incident on Saturday, officials stated. Agents arrived at the location of the suspected stash house in Alton, Texas, and found nine Mexican nationals inside the home. They transported the migrants to the station for processing.

Later that day, agents received information about a fourth human smuggling stash house located near Escobares, Texas. Troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety teamed up with the agents to investigate and observed several people fleeing from the residence as they arrived. The law enforcement team tracked down and arrested 57 more migrants. Agents conducted immigration interviews and identified the migrants as foreign nationals from Central America, Ecuador, Mexico, and Peru.

Agents discovered two more human smuggling incidents on Friday. The first, in a residence in La Ferio, Texas.

Cameron County Sheriff’s Office deputies and police officers from the Harlingen Police Department teamed up with the agents to apprehend 11 migrants in the home. They identified those migrants as citizens of Ecuador and Mexico.

The second interdiction of the day occurred in Rio Grande City, Texas, where agents found ten migrants from El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras.

In total, the agents in the RGV Sector stopped 173 migrants from being smuggled into the U.S. interior, officials said.

EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Migrants March Through South Texas Neighborhood at Night

ROMA, Texas – Local residents on Monday night expressed frustration at the number of migrants illegally entering the United States who are marched through their neighborhoods to board buses.

Mostly family unit migrants primarily from Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador surrendered to waiting Border Patrol agents. On Monday, nearly 300 were apprehended and taken through the streets.

One resident on Peter Street, Norma, says the groups have changed their entry times to early morning hours. The change means lots of nervous, sleepless nights. “They used to cross at about 10:00pm to midnight. Now, it’s closer to 1:00am to 3:00am.”

Norma says the previously quiet area has changed over the last few months. “After January, everything changed. We might have seen one or two small groups of people walk past the house and eventually get caught, now it’s hundreds almost every night.”

Another resident, Miguel, says the presence of Border Patrol and a noticeable increase in Texas Highway Patrol offers some security, he says it is still shocking to see the migrants in the area. “I have lived here all my life. This is not new to us, but the numbers have increased to the point it is hard to believe.”

Report: Joe Biden’s DHS May Bring Deported Illegal Aliens Back to U.S.

President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) may consider a plan to bring deported illegal aliens back to the United States, presumably paid for by American taxpayers.

The open borders lobby shared a plan with the Biden administration to bring illegal aliens deported by former President Donald Trump’s administration back to the U.S., according to the Associated Press (AP). More than 935,000 illegal aliens were deported by the Trump administration.

The plan, open borders activists with the corporate-backed National Immigrant Justice Center suggest, could be done through executive order by Biden and create an office inside DHS that allows deported illegal aliens to submit requests to return to the U.S.

The AP reports:

The plan asks the government to take into account factors like people who were eligible for legal status and had applied before being deported or those who have compelling circumstances.

The proposal has been shared with White House staff, the group said. It plans to invite Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to discuss the proposal and include a letter signed by 75 immigrants’ rights organizations supporting the plan.

A White House spokesperson referred questions about the proposal to the Department of Homeland Security, which did not immediately respond.

The plan comes as the Biden administration weighs another initiative to provide amnesty and reparations to more than 1,000 illegal aliens deported by the Trump administration. That plan would be a result of negotiations between the Biden administration and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which is representing the illegal aliens whose children are still in the U.S.

While the Biden administration has not explicitly endorsed the plan set forth by the National Immigrant Justice Center, similar provisions are included in the White House’s official amnesty plan, suggesting administration officials are supportive of such a policy.

As Breitbart News reported, Biden’s plan would give amnesty to illegal aliens who were already deported from the U.S. by the Trump administration starting in January 2017.

Specifically, the provision provides DHS waivers to deported illegal aliens — as long as they have not been convicted of a felony or three misdemeanors — so that they can return to the U.S. and apply for amnesty.

Today, there are roughly 11 to 22 million illegal aliens living in the U.S. and 42 million foreign nationals south of the U.S.-Mexico border who have said they want to migrate to the U.S. This is a foreign population that is nearly five times the population of New York City.

LA JOYA, Texas — Border Patrol Agents and members of the Texas Army National Guard are seeing hundreds of migrants cross on Tuesday. As family unit migrants surrendered to guardsmen at their assigned posts, Border Patrol agents pursued single adult migrants trying to flee the scene.

The Texas Army National Guard is in the area as part of Operation Lone Star, a joint operation with Texas Highway Patrol Troopers.

Several groups of family unit migrants surrendered to the soldiers during the early morning hours and were detained until Border Patrol agents arrived to perform field processing.

Several migrant families were from Honduras, El Salvador, and Ecuador. Sylvia, who was traveling with her two small daughters, injured an ankle during a several hours-walk from the Rio Grande.

Sylvia said she left her home thirteen days ago to make the journey to the United States from Honduras.

“I came mostly by bus and arrived in Reynosa, Mexico four days ago. I relied on people there to shelter us.”

She and her children were still wearing the wrist bracelets used by Mexican cartels to track migrants who have made their payment or “piso” to cross the Rio Grande. She says her family committed to paying $7,000 for her trip to New Orleans.

Several miles downriver, Border Patrol agents were busy tracking multiple groups of single adult migrants hoping to escape apprehension. These migrants face certain removal under Trump’s CDC Title 42 Covid-19 order.

As agents processed a group of nearly 30 single adult migrants, one agent, speaking under the condition of anonymity, says they are seeing migrants expelled under the order quickly return to try again. “We’re catching hundreds per night and seeing some of the same faces three and four times.”

The Agent said nearly 300 were apprehended in La Joya since midnight.

“When we don’t see them anymore, that’s when we know they made it,” the agent adds.

ROMA, Texas — On Memorial Day morning, nearly 200 migrants crossed into the United States. As several Army National Guardsmen stood watch, rafts crossed from Mexico carrying mostly family units.

In a steady stream, migrants were suited with flotation vests and loaded onto rafts. Smugglers waded across the river, pulling the loaded rafts until reaching the United States side of the border. The migrants lined the banks of the river, waiting for Border Patrol to escort them to buses.

According to one Border Patrol agent speaking on the condition of anonymity, “This happens every night … the Rio Grande Valley stations will arrest nearly 1,000 before daybreak.”

The smuggling operation was closely coordinated by the river guides to sync with the availability of Border Patrol buses.

Army National Guard troops stationed along the river could do little more than watch and illuminate the area for the migrants to exit the river.

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) officials increased the numbers of unaccompanied alien children (UAC) being released into the interior of the United States since May 1. The speed at which HHS officials transferred recently apprehended unaccompanied minor children helped the agency finally release more on average than are apprehended on any single day. According to an HHS report, the Biden administration released 10,700 unaccompanied migrant children into the U.S. this month.

The number of UACs in federal custody dropped from a high of nearly 23,000 on May 1 to 18,481 on Thursday. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas deployed a volunteer workforce from multiple federal agencies to assist HHS in their effort to quickly process, transfer, and ultimately release the UACs into the United States once sponsors are located.

In a statement to Congress earlier this month, Mayorkas commented on the efforts leading to the speedy releases.

“The Federal Protective Service alongside other DHS federal law enforcement partners has helped provide security support to HHS facilities housing unaccompanied children,” the secretary said. “ICE has increased its transportation capacity to transfer these children to ORR. The DHS Volunteer Force has deployed more than 400 additional staff to provide onsite support at HHS facilities across the country.”

The flow of unaccompanied migrant children is still in full swing. Nearly 7,000 UACs were arrested and placed in Border Patrol custody as the releases took place. The arrests mean the number of children released to sponsors, although increasing in pace, only result in marginal reductions to the total number of UACs detained.

Health and Human Services opened more than a dozen Emergency Intake Sites to deal with the influx of migrant children. These facilities make use of abandoned oilfield man camps, vacant buildings, and convention centers across the United States.

According to Mayorkas, “Between March 13 and May 1, FEMA assisted in the activation of fourteen HHS EIS facilities. EIS facilities are operating in Texas, California, and Michigan, increasing the potential temporary bed capacity when fully staffed by 19,987 beds, or 1,999 percent.”

These unlicensed facilities faced criticism due to insufficient staffing, drinking water issues, and Covid 19 protections.

In March, Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) sharply criticized the Biden administration over conditions at multiple HHS detention facilities for unaccompanied migrant children. Abbott specifically cited a drinking-water issue at a facility hastily opened by HHS in Midland, Texas, and a COVID-19 outbreak in a facility opened in Carrizo Springs, Texas.

Governor Abbott said, “The Biden Administration has been an abject failure when it comes to ensuring the safety of unaccompanied minors who cross our border. The conditions unaccompanied minors face in these federally run facilities is unacceptable and inhumane.”

HHS estimates the cost to detain a child in the newest facilities, which they refer to as Emergency Intake Sites, is $775 per day. In other long-term facilities, they indicate that cost to be approximately $275 per day. Based on their estimates, even at the reduced number of UACs currently in custody, the cost to the American taxpayer stands at nearly $7 million per day.

Del Rio Sector Border Patrol agents utilizing advanced technology, K-9 teams, and old-fashioned tracking techniques continue to apprehend large migrant groups attempting to avoid apprehension. In one incident this week, agents tracked a group on foot for more than four hours.

Surveillance video shows a Del Rio Sector K-9 team tracking a group of migrants attempting to avoid apprehension, Chief Patrol Agent Austin Skero tweeted.

Uvalde Border Patrol Station agents utilized foot tracking skills to find a group of 37 migrants. The agents tracked the migrant group for more than four hours.

“Agents are trained and experienced in tracking people that don’t want to be found and this outstanding example shows the persistence of our agents,” Skero said in a tweeted message.

Another video tweeted by Skero shows Border Patrol agents in the Del Rio Sector utilizing their skills and technology to track down more groups of migrants hiding under the cover of darkness.

From the start of this fiscal year, October 1, 2020, through the end of April, Del Rio Sector agents apprehended more than 90,000 migrants — a 377 percent increase over the previous year. Of those, more than 70,000 were single adults, the majority of whom will be returned to Mexico under Title 42 coronavirus protection protocols.

300 Migrants Rescued from Tractor-Trailers in Southwest Texas in One Week

Border Patrol agents in the Laredo Sector have rescued nearly 300 migrants in semi tractor-trailer compartments over the last seven days. The trailers, often unventilated, can serve as death traps in the scorching south Texas heat. As temperatures rise, the Border Patrol often struggles to interdict and rescue the migrants before it is too late.

On the I-35 corridor near Laredo, Texas, the Border Patrol employs K-9 teams, non-intrusive x-ray scanners, and old-fashioned interview techniques to thwart human smugglers. On Thursday, more than 100 migrants were found in one event at the I-35 checkpoint after a K-9 alerted to the vehicle. Outside temperatures peaked above 99 degrees. The migrants were locked in the unventilated trailer.

On Wednesday, agents discovered more than 40 migrants in another incident at the same checkpoint. What was particularly alarming about this human smuggling endeavor was the presence of a small child, accompanied by his mother. In three other events at the same location on Monday, agents removed more than 110 migrants from tractor-trailer compartments.

Although the Border Patrol has undertaken efforts to prevent this type of smuggling, it is still like finding the proverbial needle in the haystack. Customs and Border Protection estimates more than 2 million commercial vehicles enter the United States through Laredo every year. The area also draws domestic truckers from all over the country. It is not easy to build a profile.

A CBP spokesperson tells Breitbart Texas the agency also works with the Texas Department of Public Safety in a program known as “Texas Hold-Em.” This penalizes commercial drivers who are caught attempting to smuggle humans or other contraband by revoking their commercial vehicle license for life.

This dangerous method of human trafficking is not new. In April 2018, a federal judge sentenced 61–year–old Louisville, KY, truck driver James Matthew Bradley, Jr. to life in prison without parole for his role in a migrant smuggling operation which resulted in 10 deaths. Bradley was arrested after a truck he was driving was found abandoned in a San Antonio, Texas, parking lot in 2017.

The current border surge has created a strain on an already stretched border enforcement agency. The Border Patrol is increasingly tasked with the processing and care for thousands of asylum-seeking migrants and unaccompanied children.

Del Rio Sector Border Patrol agents stopped 10 convicted sex offenders from successfully making their way into the U.S. interior during a one-week period this month. Those arrested include previously deported individuals with convictions for lewd and lascivious acts with a child, forcible sexual abuse, sexual assault of a child under 14, sexual assault of a child, and more.

“The majority of these criminals were apprehended in our sector’s most remote areas, attempting to avoid detection by crossing far from populated areas, “Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Austin L. Skero II said in a written statement. “Our agents’ sign cutting and tracking skills were instrumental in capturing these criminals, preventing them from infiltrating our communities.”

The arrests of these criminal aliens took place in the Del Rio Sector between May 17 and 24, officials stated.

During one incident, a records check identified two men as Mexican nationals with previous criminal convictions. The first received a conviction for lewd and lascivious molestation. The second received a felony conviction for lewd and lascivious acts with a child.

“Between May 17 and 23, Border Patrol agents arrested Mexican nationals with felony convictions including forcible sexual abuse, sexual assault of a child under 14, sexual assault of a child, sexual assault, sexual conduct with a person under 13 and a registered sexual offender,” Del Rio Sector officials said in a written statement. “Agents also arrested two Honduran nationals with felony convictions for statutory rape, and second-degree sexual assault of a child.”

Chief Skero mentioned that these types of previously deported criminal aliens frequently attempt to hide or otherwise avoid apprehension.

These arrests come amid the continuing border crisis where agents are apprehending thousands of migrants per day.

Skero reports a 750 percent increase in the number of Border Patrol encounters with migrants from just one station.

EXCLUSIVE: Texas’ Most Remote Sector Sees Unprecedented Border Crossings, Says Chief

Illegal border crossings in Texas’ most remote sector reached unprecedented levels as most attempt to avoid apprehension by Border Patrol. The Big Bend Sector chief says large numbers of those apprehended are single adults — many wearing camouflage to blend with the desolate surroundings.

“We have seen a significant increase in traffic coming into the Big Bend Sector,” Chief Patrol Agent Sean L. McGoffin told Breitbart Texas in an interview this week. “It’s new for us. It’s new for our communities. It’s something we haven’t seen in the past.”

Big Bend Sector agents witnessed a nearly 400 percent increase in border apprehensions through the end of April, according to the CBP Southwest Border Encounters reported. The apprehension of single adult migrants increased by 422 percent.

“So far this year, we’re well over 22,000 apprehensions for this sector,” McGoffin reported. “That is well above normal. The highest we ever had in a year was a little over 9,000 apprehensions.”

“We’re seeing a more concerted effort here, in Big Bend Sector, than we’ve ever seen before,” the chief explained. “We’re seeing folks in camouflage that we’ve never seen before. These are all new tactics.”

McGoffin said transnational criminal organizations are adapting their business models and targeting these crossing through a very dangerous terrain and hostile environment.

“It’s a simple business proposition. We’re talking about organized crime,” he continued. “They’re looking at this as another business opportunity. In the past it was deemed inhospitable, difficult terrain. Now they’re looking at this as an opportunity, not a deterrent.”

“More important than anything else — organized crime sees these people as a commodity,” McGoffin stated. “They do not see them as human beings. They recruit them, they bring them across the border, and if they can’t maintain themselves with the group, they leave them there.”

So far this fiscal year, which began on October 1, 2020, Big Bend Sector agents recovered the bodies of 20 migrants after they were abandoned by human smugglers. That compares to five during the same period last year, the chief said.

McGoffin’s Border Patrol agents carried out more than 200 rescue events leading to the rescue of more than 500 people.

“Life-saving measures are an absolute priority for us in the United States Border Patrol,” the chief stated. “We’re mothers, we’re fathers, we’re husbands, we’re brothers, we’re sisters — we have family members. We would never want anyone to be hurt, so this is why we go into this immediately.”

McGoffin explained the cruelty carried out by the criminal human smugglers against migrants. He said the smugglers pack the migrants into overcrowded stash houses near the border — often with long waits before being moved inland. His agents find migrants packed into overloaded vehicles and tractor-trailers. These smuggling incidents often lead to dangerous vehicle pursuits.

The chief said the deployment of new layered technology enabled the agents to detect and interdict more smuggling events this year. He said this is frustrating the organized crime members who are becoming more desperate to move their human cargo inland.

The Big Bend Sector agents received more technology this year including automated surveillance towers, mobile surveillance vehicles, and Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS), that enable more efficient dispatching of agent resources.

“We’re really excited about the investment in the Big Bend Sector this year,” he explained. “With that commitment in technology, we can attribute to more than 30 percent of our apprehensions this year. We’re seeing a lot of help coming from these technologies.”

Chief McGoffin is a 25-year veteran Border Patrol agent. His career took him to many regions of the southwest and northern borders. Before becoming chief of the Big Bend Sector, McGoffin served in the Tucson and El Paso Sectors along the southwest border. He served multiple tours of duty at CBP headquarters in Washington, DC, and at the Border Patrol Academy.

McGoffin also expressed his gratitude to the support his agents receive from the communities they serve and their law enforcement partners including local sheriffs and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

“I’m really that these agents are out there working with their communities,” he concluded. “I think, oftentimes, the communities are not given the recognition they deserve.”

He said the ranchers and farmers and other community members are more sets of eyes that help the agents be more effective in finding the illegal border crossers.

“Having that good relationship out there is really good for us because we get those reports,” McGoffin said. “The ranchers, the farmers, the other members of the community feed us that information that just makes it that much better.”

The Big Bend Sector, originally named the Marfa Sector, covers more than 135,000 square miles and encompasses nearly 120 Texas and Oklahoma counties stretching from 510 miles of the Rio Grande border to the Texas Panhandle and all of the state of Oklahoma.

EXCLUSIVE: West Texas Migrant Detention Center at 700% COVID Security Capacity

Eagle Pass2

EAGLE PASS, Texas — The influx of large groups of migrants has resulted in severe facilities overcrowding in one of the west Texas sectors of the Border Patrol. The Del Rio Sector now leads the nation in the detention of migrants as it deals with the daily arrivals of large groups of Venezuelans. Detention capacities at temporary holding facilities are well above maximum levels.

A source within Customs and Border Protection, speaking on the condition of anonymity, provided Breitbart Texas with the update. A newly constructed facility in Eagle Pass designed to hold a maximum of 500 is seeing levels exceeding 700 in recent days. The sector is detaining nearly 1,500 migrants–earning the top detention spot in the country. The Rio Grande Valley Sector usually leads the nation, but is currently detaining more than 1,200, according to the source.

The source indicates COVID-19 recommended levels for the facility were limited to 125 detainees.

“That’s out the window,” the source says. “Most of our agents have been vaccinated, but the detainees haven’t,” he added.

Other facilities within the sector are also experiencing overcrowding. The main cause is the elimination of pathways to removal ended by the Biden Administration in January. The Asylum Cooperative Agreements (ACA) between the United States and Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador previously led to quick repatriation under the Trump administration. The “Remain in Mexico” program was cancelled as well.

Del Rio has been the focal point for large groups of Venezuelan nationals in recent months. The sector leads the nation in the arrest of that demographic. The source reports more than 400 migrants were arrested in Del Rio on Wednesday. The sector is currently detaining nearly 800 Venezuelans awaiting transfer to ICE, according to the source.

The Del Rio Sector is fully processing the migrants, including issuing a “Notice to Appear” which provides migrants with a court date for an immigration hearing. This practice, as reported by Breitbart Texas, was discontinued in the Rio Grande Valley to alleviate the overcrowding. That process, referred to as prosecutorial discretion, has received sharp criticism from elected officials in the area.

The photo depicts the detention center in question during a grand opening event.
