Exclusive – Jim Banks: Biden Has Left ‘Serious Doubts’ About Ability to Remain President; His Table Photo ‘a Pathetic Image’

Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN), a member of the Navy Reserve who formerly served in Afghanistan, believes President Joe Biden’s public absence amid his failed Afghanistan withdrawal plan has created “serious doubts” about his ability to continue serving as commander in chief.

Banks, speaking to Breitbart News in a phone interview Monday morning, condemned Biden’s lack of communication with the American public and called his one appearance — which came in the form of photos the White House posted to social media Sunday of the president sitting at a table alone on a call — a “pathetic image that will live in infamy.”

“The lights are on at the White House but nobody’s home,” Banks said. “It leaves serious doubts in the American people’s minds about whether or not this man is capable of being the commander in chief and leading this country for over three more years.”

The Taliban seized control of Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul, over the weekend during a fast-paced surge through the country. Biden, just last month, expressed confidence that that would not happen, contending the Afghan government “clearly has the capacity to sustain the government in place” and that a Taliban takeover was “highly unlikely.”

Twenty years ago, the U.S. entered Afghanistan as a response to the September 11 terrorist attacks, but the U.S. presence has been drawn out, ultimately costing more than 2,200 American lives and billions of dollars. Banks described America’s role in Afghanistan as a two-part tragedy, the first part being a “failed attempt to nation build.”

The second part, Banks said, “is what we’ve seen unfold over the last 24 hours, and really over the last 30 days, in a hasty retreat that inevitably will leave America less safe and secure because of the failed leadership of President Joe Biden.”

Banks, who is a leader in GOP messaging through his chairmanship on the Republican Study Committee, also warned Biden and Democrats would focus on blaming former President Donald Trump for the chaotic withdrawal. The administration had this weekend already pointed to what it said was Trump’s fault in the scenario for passing down to Biden a “deal” that put the Taliban in a position to thrive.

“Keep in mind, the Democrats are pushing all of the panic buttons: ‘Blame Trump. It’s Donald Trump’s fault.’ None of that works because none of that can mask the failure of Biden’s hasty pullout and retreat,” Banks explained. “Everyone on the Biden team is blaming Donald Trump, but Donald Trump never closed the door to leaving a light footprint of special operations, counterterrorism focus, troops in Afghanistan to avoid the situation that you’ve seen unfold on Joe Biden’s watch. Furthermore, Donald Trump did set us down a path to end the failed nation building activities that dominated our foreign policy and military activities in Afghanistan.”

Other Republicans, such as Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR), a former Army captain who served overseas; Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), who chaired the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee for several years; and Pennsylvania Republican Sean Parnell, a decorated Army combat veteran, have sharply criticized Biden and his generals for strategic blunders and misplaced priorities.

Banks concurred, saying Biden’s emphasis on social justice issues has made “America look bad on the world stage.”

“They spent the first 90 days of the Biden administration focused on ridding so-called ‘extremism’ from the ranks and teaching white guilt and pushing Critical Race Theory, anti-Americanism on our troops at a time when the Taliban was preparing to take over Afghanistan and essentially accomplished something that is demoralizing to our troops, to our country, that makes America look bad on the world stage more so than anything I could point to in my lifetime,” he said.

He added that if the president could not provide an explanation for the recent chain of events in Afghanistan and put forth a plan of action, then “he needs to step aside.”

Trump — amid a string of statements excoriating Biden for his management of Afghanistan — went as far as calling on Biden to “resign in disgrace.”

Banks, a member of the Armed Services Committee, said that as far as holding Biden accountable, “It’s our job to provide oversight of the failed leadership at the Pentagon and in the White House that led to this mess,” but that Republicans have little say over committee priorities as the minority party.

Biden is expected to address the public at 3:45 p.m. Eastern following his time away at a presidential retreat at Camp David, which he decided today to cut short because of the events unfolding in Afghanistan.

Hawley: Biden’s ‘Disastrous Display of Incompetence’ Has ‘Provoked a Humanitarian Crisis’

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) on Monday took aim at President Joe Biden for his role in the collapse of the Afghan government to the Taliban, asserting the president’s “disastrous display of incompetence” has “provoked a humanitarian crisis.”

Hawley criticized Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan, asserting the decision, and the way it was rolled out, triggered a humanitarian crisis.

“He and his administration failed to adequately prepare, failed to safeguard Americans and those who have helped us, drastically underestimated the speed with which the Taliban would overrun Kabul and other parts of the country, and have generally shown themselves unable to fulfill their commitment to an orderly withdrawal,” Hawley said, concluding the advocates of nation-building now have “much” to answer for at this point.

“Those who advocated 20 years of nation building in Afghanistan and continually promised the American people that Afghan security forces would soon be able to defend themselves have much to answer for as well,” he said.

“For two decades, almost no one has leveled with the American people about the true state of affairs in Afghanistan,” he continued.

“President Biden’s incompetence and failure of leadership is only the latest failure from the Washington establishment in this long war in which so many Americans have honorably fought and died,” Hawley added. “All of them should answer to the public.”

Biden last addressed the deteriorating state of affairs in Afghanistan last Tuesday, telling reporters that he does not regret his decision to withdraw troops as multiple cities continued to fall to the Taliban.

“Look, we spent over a trillion dollars over 20 years. We trained and equipped with modern equipment over 300,000 Afghan forces. And Afghan leaders have to come together. We lost thousands — lost to death and injury — thousands of American personnel,” Biden said, adding, “They’ve got to fight for themselves, fight for their nation.”

“The United States — I’ll insist we continue to keep the commitments we made of providing close air support, making sure that their air force functions and is operable, — resupplying their forces with food and equipment, and paying all their salaries,” he said, adding that they have “got to want to fight.”

On Monday, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) criticized Biden as well, agreeing with the withdrawal of troops but asserting the strategy and tactics were both “horrific and incompetent.” He also shared reports of Afghan forces, which the U.S. invested in, joining the Taliban and delivering U.S. weapons.

“The fundamental error was ever believing that the Afghan ‘government’ and ‘military’ would ever fight for or win anything. They fled the country with whatever they could steal at the first whiff of the Taliban,” Gaetz said.

Biden cut his vacation off early, returning to Washington, DC, from Camp David on Monday rather than Wednesday. He is expected to address the crisis at 3:45 p.m. Eastern.

Sixty-nine percent of likely voters disapprove of President Joe Biden’s handling of Afghan military operations, according to a Monday poll by the Trafalgar Group.

Of the 69 percent who disapprove of the Afghan operations, 59 percent “strongly” disapprove.

Twenty-three percent of respondents approve of Biden’s Afghan operations, which includes ten percent who strongly approve. Only seven percent had no opinion.

Among Democrats, 48-39 percent disapprove, while 88-7 percent of Republicans disapprove.

The poll, conducted over the weekend as Kabul, Afghanistan, fell to Taliban terrorists, trends with Biden’s negative average polling. Breitbart News reported Biden’s “average” approval rating on August 11 sunk to a 49 percent record low, according to the Real Clear Politics average.

Trafalgar Group’s polling was conducted between August 14-15 with 1084 respondents of likely general election voters. The response rate was 1.45 percent and the margin of error is 2.98 percent with 95 percent confidence.

The FiveThirtyEight pollster ratings, “calculated by analyzing the historical accuracy of each polling organization’s polls along with its methodology,” rated the Trafalgar Group an A-.

Mark Levin says Biden should be removed from office

Mark Levin

Mark Levin says it is time to start talking about

using impeachment or the 25th Amendment

against Joe Biden to remove the "most

disastrous president in modern American

history" from office.

In seven months, Biden has pretty much destroyed America!  The open border has welcomed what will be a million migrants from around the world by the end of the year, many of them sick with a panoply of diseases long ago eradicated in America, and bringing in new variants of COVID.

Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) on Monday weighed in on the United States’ disastrously-executed withdrawal from Afghanistan, raising the question of whether the time had arrived to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Joe Biden.

“After the disastrous events in Afghanistan, we must confront a serious question: Is Joe Biden capable of discharging the duties of his office or has time come to exercise the provisions of the 25th Amendment?” Scott wrote on Twitter. The Florida Republican used the question to resurface recent criticism regarding the various crises facing the country and its president.

“Inflation is raging. The debt ceiling expired & U.S. debt is headed to $45 TRILLION. Kabul is falling to the Taliban & encounters in the #BidenBorderCrisis just hit a 20 YEAR HIGH. Democrats control the House, Senate & @WhiteHouse. What in the world is Joe Biden doing?” he wrote.

The world watched in horror Sunday as Taliban fighters took over Afghanistan’s presidential palace in Kabul, declaring itself the new leaders of the war-torn country. In an interview with Al Jazeera, Mohammad Naeem, Taliban spokesperson said the jihadist group was “ready to have a dialogue with all Afghan figures and will guarantee them the necessary protection.”

“Today is a great day for the Afghan people and the mujahideen. They have witnessed the fruits of their efforts and their sacrifices for 20 years,” the declared.”Thanks to God, the war is over in the country.”

As of Monday, approximately 6,000 U.S. troops will deploy to Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport and assist with evacuations. On Sunday, the U.S. evacuated all of its personnel from the embassy.

“We can confirm that the safe evacuation of all embassy personnel is now complete,” State Department spokesman Ned Price stated. “All embassy personnel are located on the premises of Hamid Karzai International Airport, whose perimeter is secured by the U.S. military.”

Thousands of Afghans rushed into Kabul’s main airport Monday, some so desperate to escape the Taliban that they held onto a military jet as it took off and plunged to their deaths. At least seven people died in the chaos, U.S. officials said, as America’s longest war ended with its enemy the victor.

The crowds came while the Taliban enforced their rule over the capital of 5 million people after a lightning advance across the country that took just over a week to dethrone the country’s Western-backed government. There were no major reports of abuses or fighting, but many residents stayed home and remained fearful after the insurgents’ advance saw prisons emptied and armories looted.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

What we are witnessing today is the end of Joe Biden’s presidency… Afghanistan was merely the last straw…

  1. Joe Biden Lost Entire Country in a Single Day

After 20 years, thousands of American lives, and trillions of dollars, Afghanistan collapsed in a single day. Think about the extent of that failure. All those years, all that treasure, all those precious lives, and in one day, it’s all over.

Oh, Slow Joe and the fake media will try to blame former President Donald Trump, and it is more than fair to believe the Taliban would’ve eventually routed the Afghan government with Trump in office, but not like this, nothing like this.

First off, Joe violated our agreement with the Taliban. My colleague Frances Martel perfectly laid out what the media will never tell you:

Under predecessor Donald Trump, Washington brokered a deal with the Taliban that would have seen the American military presence in the country, which turned 20 years old this year, end on May 1, 2021. In exchange, the Taliban promised not to attack American troops and to cut ties with international jihadist organizations like al-Qaeda, whose attacks on America on September 11, 2001, prompted the Afghan War. Instead, Biden broke the deal, extending the military presence initially into September before cutting it back to August.

Taliban officials took Biden’s disavowal of the agreement as a license to begin a campaign of conquest nationwide that has resulted in, according to Taliban officials, the group now controlling about 85 percent of the country. Taliban officials also falsely claimed they never agreed to cut ties with al-Qaeda. [emphasis added]

So by breaking the deal Trump brokered, Biden gave the Taliban terrorists the green light to violate their end of the agreement. And so, here we are, fleeing with our tail between our legs and dealing with a national embarrassment unseen since Saigon 1975.

Does anyone honestly believe the Taliban — who saw Trump wipe out ISIS in about 45 minutes — would have launched this offensive with Trump still in office? Does anyone believe Trump would have left all that U.S. military equipment behind for the Taliban to scoop up?

Nothing stopped Biden from evacuating our people from Afghanistan starting on the day he took office. Nothing stopped Biden from destroying all the military equipment that has just fallen into the hands of barbarians. Nothing stopped Biden from honoring Trump’s deal. Nothing stopped Biden from increasing our troop presence to protect Americans and friendly Afghans until everyone was evacuated.

Listen, after 20 years, it was time to leave. It’s a terrible thing to witness, but we have no choice when there are no “Afghan people.” This is a tribal country filled with warlords and corruption. America didn’t lose to the Taliban. America lost to a majority population that chose the 7th century over the 21st.

Nevertheless, this disastrous, incompetent, bloody, and humiliating withdrawal did not have to happen. That’s all on Slow Joe.

Thousands of lives, trillions of dollars, twenty years… And Biden lost it all in one day.

  1. Open Border Crisis

While Joe Biden allowed the Taliban to swarm into Kabul, he’s allowing hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens to swarm over our southern border, and a countless number of them are infected with the coronavirus. And then, instead of being deported, all those infected illegals are transported by our own government into our own cities and towns.

Trump pretty much had the border problem solved. All Biden had to do was nothing. He chose instead to open our borders.

  1. Gas Price Explosion

America was energy independent under Trump, and a gallon of gas cost us about a buck less than it does now. Yet, Biden strolled in, killed a vital pipeline, killed energy exploration on federal land, and poked his finger in the eye of the Saudis. Biden’s done everything he can to increase the cost of this basic necessity.

  1. Killer Inflation

Thanks to Biden’s lunatic government spending, all the wage growth we saw under Trump is being eaten alive by record inflation as everyone pays more for housing, food, and energy — the three basics of life. All Biden has to do to solve this is to stop spending, but with the help of some Republican quislings, trillions more in unnecessary spending is on the way. Unfortunately, this is going to get worse… much worse.

  1. Middle East Instability

Under Trump, the Middle East was not only stable; peace with Israel was breaking out all over. Well, look at the Middle East now, and not just Afghanistan. Let’s not forget the ongoing attacks against Israel.

  1. The Return of the Coronavirus Hysteria

Although the much-hyped “breakthrough” infections of those vaccinated amounts to practically zero — 7,608 hospitalizations and 1,587 deaths out of 166 million vaccinated — Biden has still bungled the communication so badly, the vaccinated, who are at almost no risk, are being panicked and shoved back into those filthy masks. This will cause economic activity to slow further and put a dark cloud over everyone’s heads when the truth is that the Trump vaccine is working as well as anyone could have hoped for.

There is no reason life cannot return to normal for the vaccinated, but Joe Biden has allowed the fear-porn peddlers in the medical deep state and fake media to hijack the truth.

Biden’s presidency is officially over. He has no legitimacy on the world stage. He has no moral authority. Voters will never again trust his judgment.

Everything a president requires to lead Biden has squandered.

Dear Media: You got what you wanted and what you worked for. Happy now?

Our despicable mainstream media did everything in its vast and coercive power to see Joe Biden elected president.

President Trump was a madman, they said, a Hitler, and a host of other ridiculous charges that were patently untrue.  He was, and history will show, that he was the best president since Ronald Reagan.

But the media hated him because he wasn’t one of their imagined exalted elite.

So they lied, cheated, and stole an election in order to put the dementia-ridden Biden in the oval office.

In seven months, Biden has pretty much destroyed America!  The open border has welcomed what will be a million migrants from around the world by the end of the year, many of them sick with a panoply of diseases long ago eradicated in America, and bringing in new variants of COVID. While Americans are ordered to mask up and be vaxxed, these people arriving at our southern border, welcomed by the Biden regime that has tied the hands of ICE and the Border Patrol, are mask- and vax-free.  Eleven Democrat senators just voted against mandating that they be screened, tested, masked and vaxxed before being allowed in to roam about the country. How’s that for hypocrisy?  Biden is purposefully altering the demographics of the U.S. with the single-minded goal of making the Democrat party the ruling party in perpetuity. He and his partners in crime care not a bit about the American people.  They care only about cementing their control over the 330 million citizens who call his nation our home.

As if the breach of our southern border by hundreds of thousands of people seeking what Biden promised – shelter, health care, the vote – was not enough of a treasonous act, he has caused massive inflation; by killing the Keystone pipeline and letting Russia have theirs. The Nord Stream2, which Trump had sanctioned, will enrich Putin’s Russia for decades to come. It will also drive Germany toward Russia as, having nuked their own perfectly logical nuclear power industry, they need the oil and natural gas, which we could have sold to them. Shamefully, Biden is now begging OPEC to pump more oil.  Just eight months ago, the U.S. was energy independent.

Biden’s border policy and his anti-energy policy is going to destroy the middle class. Clearly that is the grand plan. The more people dependent on government largesse, the more votes for Democrats.

But of course, the worst failure of all so far is Biden’s wholesale betrayal of every family who sent one of their own to fight in Afghanistan.

The Biden administration just said you-know-what to the thousands of those killed and/or maimed over that conflict over the past twenty years.  He has sacrificed Afghanistan to the Taliban, he’s sacrificed to them the women and girls who will find themselves back in the seventh century.  Biden did this with the malfeasance millions of us knew him as the man Robert Gates said has "been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades."

Biden and his team of incompetents did this, they re-enacted the U.S.’s retreat from Saigon in 1975, with Americans having to be rescued from the roof of the American embassy.  That is happening now in Kabul.  Shockingly, pigs flew and Jake Tapper at CNN actually uttered some true words on Sunday when speaking to the disreputable Anthony Blinken who foolishly tried to defend the regime’s total capitulation to the Taliban.  But Tapper, too, is culpable. How could this happen? Thank the disgraceful media that so hated President Trump that they actually promoted and defended the man who will go down in history as the most incompetent, the most destructive president in U.S. history.

Did our left-media vet Biden?  No. They covered up for him. They covered up his lifetime of sexual harassment of women and young girls.  They covered up for his racism, his plagiarism, his lies about his own background. They covered up for his criminally corrupt son Hunter.  They covered up his obvious dementia.  They covered up for his lifetime of corruption.  As numerous memes have effectively put out:  “When a billionaire becomes president, the last thing on your mind should be seeing his tax returns.  When a career politician with a salary of $174k  has a net worth of $50m and owns multiple mansions, people should be asking how.”   Biden has long been one of the most corrupt pols in D.C. All you have to do is read Peter Schweizer's investigative reporting to see the clarity of that.  So who ordered Biden to turn Afghanistan over to China and/or Russia?  Hmmm.

This president should be impeached now, as quickly as possible.  He is using his office to destroy the United States and he’s doing it for personal gain, personal gain he has long enjoyed for selling out his country.  And because he is a Democrat, he accomplished all this with the unquestioning help of our anti-American media.   They may soon find themselves on the funeral pyre of totalitarianism.   Can’t we just see Joy Reid and Jim Acosta screaming as they are hauled off to the camps:  “But we loved you, we supported you, we protected you.”  Tell it to the Nazi collaborators.

Our once blindly trusted media has been betraying the American people since Walter Cronkite declared the Vietnam War lost.  It wasn’t  - but the people believed him and we accepted defeat, condemning millions of Vietnamese, Laotian, and Cambodian people to death.  There are millions today who believe what they hear on CNN and MSNBC no matter how egregious or guilty of omission their reporting is.

Those who pontificate on those outlets, as well as the three networks, are propagandists of the worst kind; they consider themselves worthy of deciding what news to which we can and cannot be exposed.  They may well be the death of us all.  They deserve only contempt, no respect.  There are exceptions, of course, but they are too few and too often suppressed. But as for the catastrophic failure of the Biden administration so far, our mainstream media bears much of the responsibility.  So benighted are they by Trump’s wisdom and expertise, they have rendered themselves  enemies of “we the people.”
