Huge surge in migrants from Central America headed toward US
Here's some rather disturbing news from Mexico. Mexican immigration authorities are turning the other way as thousands of migrants from Central America flood immigration points headed for America.
There's no real natural disaster or surge in violence in Honduras, where most of the migrants are from. This is a cold, calculated, organized effort to storm the US border with thousands of illegals.
For five days now hundreds of Central Americans — children, women, and men, most of them from Honduras — have boldly crossed immigration checkpoints, military bases, and police in a desperate, sometimes chaotic march toward the United States. Despite their being in Mexico without authorization, no one has made any effort to stop them.Organized by a group of volunteers called Pueblos Sin Fronteras, or People Without Borders, the caravan is intended to help migrants safely reach the United States, bypassing not only authorities who would seek to deport them, but gangs and cartels who are known to assault vulnerable migrants.Organizers like Rodrigo Abeja hope that the sheer size of the crowd will give immigration authorities and criminals pause before trying to stop them.“If we all protect each other we'll get through this together,” Abeja yelled through a loudspeaker on the morning they left Tapachula, on Mexico's border with Guatemala, for the nearly monthlong trek. When they get to the US, they hope American authorities will grant them asylum or, for some, be absent when they attempt to cross the border illegally. More likely is that it will set up an enormous challenge to the Trump administration's immigration policies and its ability to deal with an organized group of migrants numbering in the hundreds. The number of people who showed up to travel with the caravan caught organizers by surprise, and has overwhelmed the various towns they've stopped in to spend the night. Pueblos Sin Fronteras counted about 1,200 people on the first day.
Everyone should write a letter to the Mexican government thanking them for their generosity - at our expense.
This tactic of organized attack on our border is not new, but it's never happened on this scale before. Where are we going to put them, with detention centers on our border already bursting? Mexico is deliberately, coldly creating a humanitarian crisis for the US. In some contexts, this is an act of war. They are looking to paralyze US border enforcement and force the government into choosing between starving thousands or accepting them at the border.
I don't envy Trump in this situation. There is little room for compromise with the Mexican government who have apparently decided to facilitate this attack. Is there a way we could force them to feed, house, and care for so many illegals before they get to the US? Or, in turning back the flood of illegals trying to cross our border, can we count on Mexico to offer them assistance to go back from where they came?
These ignorant, illiterate migrants have been sold a bill of goods by those who are trying to manipulate the Honduran masses into advancing a political agenda. It doesn't get much more despicable than that.
Caravan of 1,500 Central American Migrant Familes Crossing Mexico to Reach U.S. Border
A caravan of more than 1,500 families including men, women, and children are making their way from Central America through Mexico and are expected to arrive at the US-Mexico Border in the coming days to request refugee status.
Known as the Viacrucis Migrante 2018, the caravan began on March 25 in the state of Chiapas and is expected to reach Tijuana within a month where the members of the group are expected to request refugee status from the U.S. government. The caravan is organized by the immigrant rights group Pueblo Sin Fronteras who have been posting updates about the caravan’s journey through Mexico.
The group is reportedly made up of families from Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras who are fleeing extreme poverty and gang violence. The group has been demanding a stop to the violence.
While the group is made up primarily of individuals who could be considered undocumented by Mexican authorities, officials have stepped aside, Mexico’s El Universal reported. Additionally, the group has been thankful to the local governments in various rural communities in southern Mexico for helping the caravan by providing transportation, food, and other aid.
The push to the border comes at a time the Trump administration has clashed with the Mexican government over their apparent leniency when dealing with drug cartels, border security, and the payment of walls.

"The state of California and the sanctuary city laws that make it a safe-haven for criminal illegal aliens is likely responsible for at least 5,000 crimes that were committed by criminal illegal aliens released by local authorities rather than being handed over to federal immigration officials."

Immigration officers arrested a total of 89 criminal aliens and others in North Texas and Oklahoma during a three-day targeted operation.

“This North Texas and Oklahoma operation removed 67 criminal aliens from our streets and our communities,” Dallas ERO Field Office Director Simona L. Flores’s staff provided the following illustrations of the types of criminals arrested during the operation:
- March 20: A 45-year-old citizen of Guatemala, was arrested at Mesquite, Texas. He was convicted of sexual assault in 1991 and was sentenced to 10 years deferred probation. Officers arrested 88 men and one woman ranging in ages from 19- to 60-years-old.
Last month, ERO officers carried out a similar operation targeting criminal aliens and foreign nationals with outstanding orders of removal in an operation that ran from Waco in Central Texas to the Rio Grande Valley, Breitbart Texas reported. That operation led to the arrest of nearly 150 criminal aliens, previously deported illegal aliens, and immigrants who are subject to deportations.
Of those arrested, 86 had previous criminal convictions; 39 had previous immigration violations including four with pending criminal charges; 20 with no previous immigration history; and one with pending criminal charges, officials stated. Officers arrested 135 men and 10 women during the seven-day operation that ended on February 16. They ranged in age from 18 to 62.

Funding for the Wall? Let ‘El Chapo’ Pay
Amid the wrangling over who – if anyone — will pay for America’s southern border wall, now comes Mexican drug lord El Chapo. Facing criminal trial in federal court later this year, the captured narcotics kingpin could be ordered to forfeit $14 billion from his drug cartel.
Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, wants the ill-gotten gains earmarked for enhanced border security, including a border wall. Cruz’s El Chapo Act states:
“Notwithstanding any other provision of law, any illegally obtained profits resulting from any criminal drug trafficking enterprise led by Joaquin Archivaldo “El Chapo” Guzman Loera, which are criminally forfeited to the United States government as a result of the conviction of Mr. Guzman Loera in federal district court, shall be reserved for security measures along the border between the United States and Mexico, including the completion of a wall.”
A companion measure – H.R. 2186 – has been introduced in the House.
Since El Chapo’s notorious cartel operated out of Mexico, the appropriating bills are, well, appropriate. And because the bulk of illegal narcotics in this country arrive via Mexico, one could argue that future forfeitures should be handled the same way.
To be clear, drug-asset seizures cannot be the sole source of funding for immigration enforcement endeavors. But the El Chapo Act would be a welcome down payment on a wall that Congress continues to slow-walk and shortchange. It’s a no-brainer, even on Capitol Hill.
