Multiple police-driven vehicles used to transport Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot have reportedly racked up multiple traffic tickets that have gone unpaid despite the mayor's advocacy for stricter speed cameras in the city.

Two of the SUVs used to shuttle Lightfoot throughout Chicago have accumulated three speed camera tickets and two warnings in the past month. The tickets have so far gone unpaid, CWB Chicago reported on Monday.

Additionally, CWB Chicago reported that one of the SUVs in the mayor’s fleet has a red light ticket that has not been paid and two SUVs that were previously assigned to Lightfoot’s security detail have outstanding speed and red light tickets.

One of those SUVs is eligible to be booted and impounded over the lack of payment.

Two of the speed violations committed by Lightfoot’s SUVs reportedly occurred in school zones and the citations stated that school children were present.

Since taking office, Lightfoot supported a push to lower the "buffer zone" threshold that speed cameras allow before issuing a citation from 10 mph to 6 mph, arguing that it will make roads safer.

"No one likes speed cameras. I get it," Lightfoot was quoted last month. "But this is life or death that we’re talking about here, and we’ve got to step up as a city and address this."

Lightfoot also pointed out the potential dangers to kids despite being ticketed for speeding through a school zone with her own security detail.

"It is unconscionable that any City Council member would consider voting to allow for increased speeds near spaces utilized by our children," Lightfoot said.

Lightfoot's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

In 2020, Chicago Tribune reported that the city of Chicago dismissed the majority of tickets that were issued to Lightfoot's security team, which included tickets given at times the mayor was attending non-city related events.

The Illinois Policy Institute, a libertarian think tank, found that Chicago has issued 3.8 million speeding tickets, generating almost $80 million in revenue to the city since Lightfoot lowered the threshold last year.

The Chicago City Council struck down a measure to repeal the lowered speed camera threshold last week in a vote that Lightfoot supported.

WLS-TV reported that 84% of all speed camera tickets issued were given to drivers driving between 6 and 10 miles per hour over the speed limit.

Twenty-five people were shot Friday into Saturday night in Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s (D) Chicago.

NBC 5 reported at least 25 people had been shot by 8:33 p.m. Saturday night, and one of those shooting victims succumbed to their wounds.

The shooting fatality occurred after an altercation at a party early Saturday morning. A 34-year-old man was shot then transported to a hospital where he died.

WGN-TV noted three of weekend’s shooting injuries occurred outside a church during a funeral Saturday afternoon.

People were standing outside the church “near 108th and S State streets around 2:30 p.m.” when a grey vehicle drove by and someone inside the vehicle opened fire. Three men, ages 20, 25, and 37, were shot. All three were taken to the hospital in good condition.

The Chicago Sun-Times pointed out Pastor Donovan Price’s observation that funerals “should be a love event.”

Price commented on the shooting at Saturday’s funeral, saying, “To have something like this happen in the middle of it, it’s almost twice as shocking.”

The Sun-Times notes 362 people were killed in Chicago January 1, 2022, through July 23, 2022.

Black Lives Matter: Black Supremacists

On July 14, Minneapolis police shot and killed twenty-year-old Tekle Sundberg after a six-hour standoff that included multiple shots by the "victim" being fired into the apartment of a young woman and her two small children.  This was because Tekle Sundberg was trying to kill her.  Yet according to attorney Ben Crump, Tekle was a "smart, loving, and artistic" young man "experiencing a mental health crisis."  The photo accompanying Crump's call to action showed Tekle wearing white, the color of innocence, while smiling for the camera.  However, a second photo in the Twitter feed displayed another side of Tekle's character as he held two pistols and a bag of contraband while playfully posing for the camera.

Crump demanded ANSWERS (his capitalization, not mine) from the Minneapolis police about how they conducted themselves during the standoff.  He also posted videos of the grieving adoptive parents blaming the police for killing their son "unnecessarily" and called for people to protest at the scene of the crime, which they did.  Tekle's white parents claimed that the police promised they wouldn't shoot him (a curious claim to make in an active shooter situation, to be sure) and predictably suggested that their son would still be alive if he were white.  However, the police reported that whenever they tried to have the father speak to Tekle, the young man turned his music up full blast and screamed at them.

Just how disgusting can Tekle's parents get?  Zero sympathy was expressed for their son's intended victim or her children.  Their son was actively trying to murder his neighbor when the police finally shot and killed him, more than six hours after the standoff began, and still they blame the police.  If Tekle had been white, the only difference in the outcome is that the cops most likely wouldn't have waited six hours before they finally shot and killed him.  The man was spraying live rounds into another apartment, trying to kill its inhabitants, which, in my opinion, forfeits his right to continue breathing.

Say the name "George Floyd," and people bow their heads in reverence for the petty criminal, who died while in police custody from an officer "kneeling on his neck" until he suffocated — which didn't happen, but don't tell that to Officer Derek Chauvin, because he's in prison for allegedly killing Floyd.  Now say the name "Tony Timpa."  Who?  Minneapolis police officers went to prison for detaining Floyd with a controversial hold for nine minutes.  Dallas police officers held Tony Timpa with the very same hold for almost fourteen minutes, and, like Floyd, Timpa died.  Why have there been no media reports of Timpa's death like the reports on George Floyd?  Well, Tony Timpa was a white man.

If Timpa's story failed to move you, what about Edward Bronstein?  Two months before George Floyd died, the very same thing happened to Bronstein — cops kneeled on him, and he died.  What happened to the officers in the Timpa and Bronstein cases?  Nothing.

Obviously, police brutality isn't the real issue for Black Lives Matter.  Nor does the innocence or guilt of the candidate for martyrdom matter.  Skin color is all that matters to Black Lives Matter.  It doesn't hurt if you have a criminal record, too.

Seventy-five percent of the people killed by the police each year are white, Asian, or Hispanic.  Twenty-five percent of the suspects killed by police are black.  If anything, police have become more reluctant to engage with and subdue a violent black offender out of fear that Black Lives Matter and Ben Crump will marshal the forces of evil against them, and that reluctance puts even more lives at risk.

Not only does BLM always side against the police, but the group frequently sides against the black victims of black criminal thugs.  Apparently, only black criminals aren't supposed to get shot, no matter what they've done.  In stark contrast, innocent black women and children are fair game.  If you are a young black criminal, you're untouchable as far as Black Lives Matter is concerned.  Black Lives Matter doesn't care about people.  It cares only about power.  The people behind Black Lives Matter don't care about black lives in general; they care about only the lives of dangerous black criminals and buying expensive real estate in rich white neighborhoods.

George Floyd?  He's been elevated to the ranks of a minor deity, although a lightning strike seems to have offered God's final word on the matter.  And contrary to what Ben Crump might have you believe, Tekle Sundberg was no angel.  He was a thug and a criminal, and he's far from the only example of Black Lives Matter choosing to champion the wrong black lives.  Jacob Blake admits that he had a knife when police shot him.  Black Lives Matter led a major protest to honor the man that police had been trying to arrest for sexual assault, criminal trespass, and disorderly conduct.  The protests in Kenosha led to Kyle Rittenhouse being forced to kill several people in self-defense as the situation grew completely out of control.

Michael Brown robbed a convenience store and broke the orbital bone in the face of police officer Darren Wilson, but BLM lied and claimed that Brown had his hands up.  And Ferguson, Missouri was burned to the ground because of another pernicious lie.  Rayshard Brooks passed out in the drive-through lane of a Wendy's and eventually managed to get shot and killed while resisting arrest for DUI.  For some unknown reason, video of the police having a normal conversation with Brooks aired on television, but video of Brooks resisting arrest and firing a Taser at the cops did not.  Naturally, protesters burned the restaurant to the ground.

Much more importantly, little eight-year-old Secoriea Turner was shot and killed when a protester fired a bullet into her mother's car.  Two of the protesters were arrested for her murder.  Two years after Brooks's death, "mourners" planned a vigil to remember him.  Nobody has a vigil planned for Secoriea Turner.

Black Lives Matter protesters immediately dropped to a knee when reports aired that an armed carjacker had been killed by the police.  The protesters promised to loot and riot in response, but after they learned that the carjacker was white, the protest suddenly ended, quickly and quietly.  They didn't care that the perpetrator had allegedly been waving a gun and shooting at police, but they did care about his skin color, because only the lives of black criminals matter to Black Lives Matter.  If you're an innocent bystander, a woman, or a child — even if you're black — well, you're just collateral damage.

The young woman Sundberg had been trying to kill bravely came out of her apartment to confront the angry crowd that came to march in front of her building and shouted at them, "He tried to kill me in front of my kids!  There are bullet holes in my kitchen!"

One of the protestors chillingly replied, "Not in you, though!"

What type of a human being would say such a thing to the victim of a violent crime?

Where Self-Defense Turns into a Charge of Murder

A progressive tale in NYC.

New York City has become a haven for mentally ill and drug-addicted homeless people who live on the streets and in the subways, free to menace the general public. Dangerous criminals are released repeatedly after their arrest with no bail requirement, free to resume preying on innocent victims. There are less police officers available to protect public safety, thanks to reckless cuts in the New York Police Department budget and the departure of police officers in droves who were tired of working in a hostile environment. And New Yorkers have to walk on eggshells when it comes to defending themselves against a criminal attack. Manhattan’s radical progressive pro-criminal district attorney believes that self-defense can be charged as murder.

Just recently, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg charged a bodega worker with murder for defending himself with a knife against an unprovoked attack by an ex-con that resulted in the assailant’s death. Meanwhile, the assailant’s girlfriend has escaped all charges whatsoever for stabbing the bodega worker because, prosecutors said, she was only trying to help her boyfriend fight back against the bodega worker.

Bragg may be backtracking on the murder charge after speaking on July 12^th with city bodega owners who are pressuring him to reverse course. However, the fact that Bragg would even consider filing a murder charge in the first place speaks volumes about his perverse priorities. The radical progressive district attorney has sent New Yorkers the message that they should think twice before fighting back in self-defense. Bragg has compounded this message by supporting efforts in New York to continue limiting law-abiding residents from carrying guns outside their homes for self-defense because “more guns in our communities make us less safe.”

More dangerous criminals on the loose who are in possession of illegal guns make us less safe, not legal guns in the hands of law-abiding people. District Attorney Bragg would rather let dangerous criminals back on the streets where they can obtain illegal guns on the black market and continue jeopardizing public safety. But he does not hesitate to go after a crime victim for defending himself.

As a New York Post editorial put it:

“Thanks to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, New York is a city turned upside down. Get caught with an illegal gun, get released without bail. Shove an elderly person to the ground, attack someone because they are Asian, a slap on the wrist. Shoplift again . . . and again . . . and again . . . nothing. But defend yourself and your place of business from a man who attacks you, and Bragg sends you to Rikers.”

Here is another example of progressive madness in New York’s criminal justice system that has turned New York City upside down. Two suspected Mexican drug-cartel smugglers were apprehended with their horde of $1.2 million worth of crystal meth while trying to make two drug deliveries. They were then promptly released with no cash bail requirement. That is because crystal meth is considered a controlled substance in New York, not a narcotic, and the charge of second-degree possession of a controlled substance carries no bail requirement under New York State’s progressive criminal-friendly bail “reform” law.

“This is a serious problem,” New York City Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan told the New York Post. “At the time the bail laws were changed, New York City was not a distribution hub for methamphetamine. Now it is, and we are unable to even ask for bail, even if we arrest someone with no ties to the city and a load worth millions of dollars,” she said.

New York Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul has permitted the madness that has taken over New York City’s criminal justice system to get worse. She has the power to remove District Attorney Bragg from office but has refused to do so. Governor Hochul has managed to secure only minor modifications in New York State’s outrageous bail “reform” law that has given so many repeat criminals a free get-out-of-jail card. And New York’s feckless governor refuses to say where she stands on legislation that would end qualified immunity for police officers in civil suits alleging misconduct, which New York City insanely ended last year.

New York City’s Mayor Eric Adams has talked a good game about combating the alarming rise in violent crimes plaguing the city. He also expressed his support for the bodega worker charged with murder by District Attorney Bragg but refused to criticize Bragg for bringing the charge in the first place. Instead of refusing to “second guess” Bragg, the mayor should call for his removal and replacement with a district attorney who is not soft on criminals and who understands that self-defense, even with deadly force, is not a crime.

According to a Spectrum News NY1/Siena College survey published in June, violent crime is the top concern of an overwhelming number of New York City residents. Seventy-six percent of New Yorkers surveyed said they were “concerned that they will be a victim of violent crime,” according to the survey results.

Nevertheless, for some unexplained reason, New York City’s emergency management agency decided to put out a public service announcement on July 12^th giving advice to New Yorkers about how to survive a nuclear attack. The agency advised New Yorkers to get inside a building, secure the doors and windows, and stay inside. Although hardly likely to protect New Yorkers against the devastation of a nuclear attack, staying off the streets is certainly one way to avoid dangerous encounters with violent criminals. Even staying inside, however, won’t protect New Yorkers against home invasions.

Most New Yorkers are not very worried about a nuclear attack these days. They are worried about surviving in the madhouse created by reckless progressive government policies that have caused violent crime to become the new normal.

Twenty-one people were shot during the weekend in Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s (D) Chicago, seven of them fatally.

ABC 7/Chicago Sun-Times reports that the weekend’s first shooting fatality occurred Friday night at 7:10 p.m., when a 25-year-old man was shot and killed during a drug deal.

The weekend’s second shooting fatality took place at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, when a 56-year-old man was shot and killed while walking on a sidewalk “in the 600 block of South California Avenue.”

At 11:35 p.m. Saturday, a fight broke out on a porch “in the 3900-block of West Wilcox Street.” Someone opened fire during the fight, killing a woman “believed to be in her mid-20s.”

The weekend’s fourth shooting fatality was discovered at 11:55 p.m. Saturday. Police found a 31-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

At 2:40 a.m. Sunday, the occupants of two vehicles “in the 800-block of South Albany Avenue” began shooting at one another. Two men died as a result. One of the men was 25, and the other was 28.

The weekend’s seventh shooting fatality was a 51-year-old man whom police “found about 7:30 a.m. in the 10400-block of South Corliss Avenue.” He was dead at the scene.

The Sun-Times points out that 347 people were killed in Chicago January 1, 2022, through July 17, 2022.

Democrats are openly the party of violence and death. Their policies fail so they must advocate violence to get them implemented.

Democrats and their spinoff-isms promote and glamorize abortion, the killing of human beings. Barack Obama notoriously stated that he didn’t want to see women being “punished with a baby.” Elizabeth Warren said that women who go to crisis pregnancy centers are met by people who “want to do them harm.” Liberals clearly believe that giving birth is not desirable but killing babies is.

Democrat-run San Francisco and Los Angeles are suffering from huge spikes in the crime rate but the locals seem content to continue electing Democrats who clearly have a soft spot for criminals and crime.

Chuck Schumer called for violence against Supreme Court justices:

"I want to tell you, Gorsuch, I want to tell you, Kavanaugh: You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price. You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions."

During the 2020 riots, Democrats in the media and in government actually praised rioters and arsonists and cheered them on.

Regarding same, Vice President Kamala Harris said,

"Protestors should not let up. They’re not gonna let up and they should not."

Overall, we have these other calls to violence going back to 2017. From Lauren Boebert's website:

• In 2008, President Obama said, “I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors. I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face.” Source
• In June 2018, Rep. Maxine Waters said, “If you see anybody from that cabinet in a restaurant, at a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.” Source
• In June of 2018, then Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said, “I just don’t even know why there aren’t uprisings all over the country. And maybe there will be.” Source
• In 2017, Senator Tim Kaine said, "So, the way we get outside the bubble is we take advantage of this tremendous public outcry against the administration… What we've got to do is fight in Congress, fight in the courts, fight in the streets, fight online, fight at the ballot box, and now there's the momentum to be able to do this.” Source
• In August 2020, Rep. Ayanna Pressley said, “There needs to be unrest in the streets for as long as there’s unrest in our lives.” Source
• In October 2018, former Attorney General Eric Holder said, “If they go low, we kick them.” Source
• In June 2017, Johnny Depp said, “When was the last time an actor assassinated a President?” Source
• In September 2018, Carol Cooke said, “Where is John Wilkes Boothe when you need him?” Source
• In January 2017, Madonna said, “Yes, I’m angry. Yes, I am outraged. Yes, I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House.” Source

The question is this. Why are Democrats so married to the use of violence to get their agenda passed, or does the question answer itself?  Democrats know in their alleged hearts that the people of America do not like their agenda, but that doesn't matter because Americans are too dim to know what is good for them.

Perhaps this is the answer:  BlackRock CEO and WEF globalist Larry Fink publicly stated that force should be used where there is recalcitrance:

Behaviors are going to have to change and this is one thing we are asking companies, you have to force behaviors and at BlackRock, we are forcing behaviors.

This attitude is not limited to companies but like scum, it floats and covers the entire American landscape. We on the Right have got to understand that the Left has no inclination to gain our acceptance for their policies or for changing hearts and minds. They want to use force and they are using force to get acquiescence for their policies. It doesn't matter to them that we abhor their policies. They believe they are right and they want to rule. It's the age-old Lord Acton sentiment, "Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

The Left have abandoned the representative form of governance and have adopted an authoritarian form of government using violence when they think it's necessary. Millions of dollars are flooding the coffers of organizations that thrive on violence. The Constitution be damned.

These people must be jettisoned if America is to remain free. We're already on a knife's edge of liberty. We don't need the Left pushing us over.

Feds Scoop Up Violent Fentanyl Trafficker Let Loose by Soros Prosecutor

Federal prosecutors have indicted a violent convicted drug trafficker for fentanyl distribution after a Virginia prosecutor boosted by the left-wing billionaire George Soros released the felon without bail just a day after his arrest.

Alpha Kamara last week was charged and taken into federal custody for conspiracy to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl, according to a Justice Department filing unsealed on Monday. The indictment supersedes charges brought by Fairfax County commonwealth's attorney Steve Descano (D.), who on June 27 filed charges against Kamara for the same case, only to release the offender without bail one day after his arrest.

The Justice Department's decision to charge Kamara ensures Descano's office won't mishandle the case. Descano has a history of releasing offenders before trial, dropping charges, and reducing sentences—sometimes with deadly consequences. His office last year dropped felony charges for a man who was charged later for killing two homeless men and wounding three others in New York City and Washington, D.C. In June, the prosecutor released on probation a violent repeat offender who went on to beat an elderly homeless woman to death at a bus stop.

Descano's soft-on-crime approach is typical of Soros-backed prosecutors, who have in the past decade received more than $40 million in donations from the Democratic megadonor. Soros contributed more than half-a-million dollars to Descano's campaign, along with fellow far-left Virginia prosecutors Buta Biberaj in Loudoun County and Parisa Dehghani-Tafti in Arlington County, dwarfing any other donation amounts in the races and helping to oust veteran prosecutors. Fueled by citizens' concerns over rising crime and lenient prosecution, recall efforts have spawned in each of the three Virginia counties, as well as in major cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles. In the Bay Area, city residents in June voted out far-left prosecutor Chesa Boudin by double digits. Top Democrats in Virginia are similarly courting candidates to challenge Biberaj.

Virginia State Police arrested Kamara on June 26 following a high-speed chase involving a stolen vehicle that ended in a crash on a highway interstate. State troopers seized a loaded 9 mm handgun and more than two kilos of fentanyl pills from the wrecked car, and Kamara was charged with driving without a license, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, resisting arrest, eluding police, grand larceny auto theft, and possession with intent to distribute a schedule I substance. He had been out of federal prison and on supervised release for just three days before his June joyride, having served slightly less than the length of his five-year sentence.

Descano's decision to release Kamara before his trial surprised prosecutors who spoke with the Free Beacon, given his criminal record. Virginia Republican attorney general Jason Miyares said the release was "just another example of the criminal-first, victim-last mentality pushed by far-left prosecutors."

"Fentanyl has rapidly become one of the most dangerous opioids to infect neighborhoods across our country," Miyares said. "Nationally, we've lost 105,000 Americans to overdoses from opioids, most commonly fentanyl. Continually letting repeat offenders get back onto the street only encourages more crime and creates even more victims. I am grateful for our partners in the DOJ stepping up when these local prosecutors fail to do their jobs."

The 25-year-old felon's first brush with law enforcement came in 2018, when he was sentenced to five years in prison as part of a major federal crackdown on Blood gang members and violent drug dealers in Northern Virginia. Operation Tin Panda, a joint effort between the FBI and ATF, resulted in 36 convictions and seized scores of firearms and hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash and assets, as well as hundreds of pounds of drugs, including cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin. The federal agencies greenlighted the operation following a series of murders and violent incidents in Prince William County.

It is unclear whether Descano will pursue the charges he initially filed against Kamara. The Virginia prosecutor would have to wait until federal prosecution is completed. A preliminary hearing for the county charges is scheduled in August. Descano's office did not respond to a request for comment.

Descano during his tenure has abolished cash bail, told his attorneys to avoid mandatory minimum jail sentencing, and declined to prosecute many misdemeanors. A policy memo he distributed in his first year as Fairfax County's top prosecutor urged assistant commonwealth's attorneys to seek misdemeanor charges over felonies whenever appropriate. He has reportedly told his staff that they "will never get in trouble for prosecuting light." In one fraught meeting, Descano reportedly told one of his prosecutors to reduce a 20-year sentence by 5 years and to not "listen to victims" because they tend to be "overly dramatic."

In Fairfax, Virginians for Safe Communities has gathered more than half of the roughly 30,000 signatures necessary to trigger a special election.

"It is stunning that Steve Descano would cut loose a fentanyl-dealing gun felon after Kamara endangered the lives of the public and law enforcement," said Sean Kennedy, the president of Virginians for Safe Communities. "The citizens of Fairfax need to know that the single biggest threat to public safety is the chief prosecutor and his disregard for the laws and lives of this commonwealth."

Drug overdose deaths have risen nationwide since 2019, driven by new synthetic opioids like fentanyl, according to the CDC. The Drug Enforcement Administration reported synthetic opioid-related deaths shot up 56 percent from 2020 to 2021.

Fairfax County has yet to release its annual police report. Preliminary data show homicides were up 40 percent last year and are on pace to be higher in 2022.

Kamara is in the custody of the U.S. Marshals and being held without bond pending trial.

George Soros-backed Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg (D.) is throwing the book at a middle-aged bodega employee who defended himself during a deadly assault in Harlem, an unprecedented move for an office that has abandoned customary bail, charging, and sentencing guidelines for many criminals.

Bragg's office charged 51-year-old Jose Alba with second-degree murder and was holding him on $250,000 bail at Rikers Island after a struggle last weekend over a bag of chips ended with the death of Austin Simon, a man with a lengthy criminal record who was on parole for assaulting a police officer. The decision to charge Alba with murder and set his bail so high is at odds with many cases the Manhattan office has handled. Last week, the mother of a slain Army veteran laid into a Bragg attorney in court, accusing the prosecutor of a miscarriage of justice after one of the assailants involved with the killing got just a seven-year prison sentence. Bragg concealed information from a court in a January assault and robbery case, in which a man who robbed a T.J. Maxx with a pair of scissors was only charged with a misdemeanor.

Bragg in March set no bail for and freed an offender with a long rap sheet who was charged with beating a 67-year-old man to death. In the past two months, he has twice released offenders before trial who have gone on to be charged with murder. One was released from jail the day before he struck. In another case, Bragg twice freed a gang member without bail, even though the gang member was charged for a series of stabbings.

The Manhattan district attorney's office initially requested $500,000 bail for Alba, but a judge struck that down as excessive. The Soros prosecutor dropped it again on Thursday to $50,000 following public outcry over the case, but is retaining a charge for murder.

Voters in November elected Bragg, who was raised in Harlem, following a campaign that pledged to seek prosecutorial leniency for many offenders and reduce incarceration. When Bragg ascended to office in January, he told his prosecutors in a memo to avoid prison sentences for most felony cases except under "extraordinary circumstances."

Soros in 2021 donated more than $1 million to Bragg's campaign, pushing Bragg through a heated Democratic primary with eight other candidates. The contribution is of a piece with the more than $40 million the Democratic megadonor has contributed to place dozens of liberal prosecutors in half of America's largest jurisdictions, a Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund (LELDF) report found. Many are now in the grip of a crime wave.

"It is clear that social justice prosecutors, including Alvin Bragg, are only interested in prosecuting police and others forced to defend themselves against violent criminals," LELDF president Jason Johnson told the Washington Free Beacon. "By upending the justice system these prosecutors are inflicting chaos on the cities they swore to protect. It is urgent that voters wake up and permanently end this failed experiment."

After Simon's girlfriend last week allegedly stabbed Alba, Simon lunged behind the counter. A fight ensued, and Alba, who according to his family was afraid for his life, reached for a boxcutting knife and turned it on Simon to subdue him. The 35-year-old ex-convict died later at the hospital. Alba's daughter told the New York Post on Wednesday, "It was either him or the guy at the moment."

"He's never hurt anybody," she said. "He's never had an altercation where he had to defend himself. This is the first time for him."

A GoFundMe set up by Alba's family was deleted without explanation on Thursday. The page had raised about $20,000. In a rather different case, a teenage New York City rapper who shot an NYPD cop to death was released on bail in January after posting just $15,000 of his $250,000 bond.

Simon's girlfriend pulled a knife from her purse and stabbed Alba after her debit card was declined, said Michelle Villasenor-Grant, the bodega employee's attorney. The knife-wielding girlfriend ran out of the store to grab Simon and bring him back after Alba refused to let her purchase some chips. Bragg's office has not charged her.

"It would not be that surprising that someone thinks that harm is going to come to them or that they are going to be robbed, particularly if the woman that you just got into a verbal argument with is also with this person, and ended up taking her own knife out of a purse and stabbing my client," Villasenor-Grant said on Saturday at an arraignment hearing.

Crime data show that in the last three years homicide is up 52 percent in New York City. Shootings are up more than 100 percent, and car theft is up 91 percent, according to the New York Police Department. In 2021, the Big Apple recorded nearly 500 homicides, its most in a decade.

Alba is a native of the Dominican Republic and became a U.S. citizen 14 years ago. He may be released on bail as soon as Saturday. Simon's criminal history includes charges of assault, robbery, and domestic violence.

New York City mayor Eric Adams (D.) on Thursday said Alba did not break the law when he acted in self-defense during the attack.

"I saw a worker here inside the store following the law and he should not have been approached in the manner he was approached," Adams said. "It's time for New Yorkers and Americans to stand up for people who follow the law."

Starbucks Closes More Than a Dozen Stores Amid Crime Surge

Starbucks announced Monday it is closing 16 stores across the country, citing crime and safety concerns at the locations, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The company is shuttering locations in Seattle, Los Angeles, Portland, Ore., Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. Each city is governed by Democratic mayors and is undergoing a spike in crime. In a message to employees, Starbucks executives said the company has been getting "a lot" of incident reports of criminal activity, including drug use in stores. "We cannot serve as partners if we don’t first feel safe at work," they said.

Starbucks, which has lost roughly a third of its value over the past year, also announced it will give managers more leeway with store policy to deter criminals. Managers will be able to close bathrooms to deter drug use and limit customer seating. Starbucks said it will also offer baristas additional training in deescalating conflicts.  

Starbucks's move comes two years after the company downplayed violence amid rioting following the murder of George Floyd. In May 2020, Starbucks released a public statement praising racial justice activists and quoting Martin Luther King Jr.'s remark that

 "a riot is the language of the unheard." Kevin Johnson, the company’s CEO, stressed the importance of the "courageous conversations" going on at the time.

Starbucks has worked to quash unionization efforts across the country, and two of the Seattle locations the company is closing are unionized. A Starbucks union leader when interviewed by the Journal said the company should have involved employees in the decision to close the stores.

Michigan Man Accused of Forcing Girl into Prostitution for Months

A man in Warren, Michigan, is accused of forcing a girl into commercial sex so he could collect the money.

In 2017, law enforcement were tipped off about a minor who was being trafficked for sex, Click on Detroit reported Tuesday.

Once an investigation was opened into the case, an officer working undercover saw an advertisement online, responded, and eventually rescued the girl from the situation, authorities explained.

“James Earl Madison-Cranford, 28 of Warren, is accused of forcing the girl to regularly perform commercial sex for several months,” the outlet continued. “He would post advertisements online and use his phone to post the advertisements and answer all the girl’s calls, officials said.”

Sex trafficking occurred when persons were compelled by force, fraud, or coercion to perform commercial sex acts, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) website.

“Sex trafficking of a minor occurs when the victim is under the age of 18. For cases involving minors, it is not necessary to prove force, fraud, or coercion,” the agency said.

Madison-Cranford was recently arraigned and charged with minor sex trafficking, prostitution (accepting earnings), prostitution (transporting female), conducting a criminal enterprise, along with third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

The suspect was charged as a habitual offender, according to Click on Detroit, which noted the initial four charges were each 20-year felonies, and the last charge a 15-year felony.

In June, a couple from Ohio was indicted after being accused of running a sex trafficking operation across six states, according to Breitbart News.

“The couple, who share children, is alleged to have conspired to ‘violently’ traffic women in their mid-20s from February 2020 to February 2021,” the outlet said.

In regard to the most recent case, officials said they were committed to helping victims.

“Let this case be a reminder that regardless of how many years have passed, our team will always fight for survivors of abuse,” Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel stated, adding, “We remain committed to securing justice.”

The suspect was being held on a $900,000 bond and scheduled to appear in court on July 20.

Before his 2020 arrest, Harris rose to fame as a star of the Netflix documentary “Cheer.” In the fall of 2020, the FBI indicted Harris with producing child pornography and other charges, including sexual exploitation of children and traveling with the attempt to engage in sexual conduct with a minor.

Prior to his arrest in September 2020, Harris was one of several celebrity influencers the Biden campaign embraced in an effort to “win back the internet.” In June 2020, Biden appeared with Harris on Instagram Live to discuss “some really important issues facing our country right now, in particular young adults and the black community.” The video, which received more than 300,000 views on the social media platform, was deleted shortly after federal agents raided the influencer’s Illinois home in September. Harris was arrested days later.

The sentence is a blow to the Democratic Party, which has a long history of associating with sexual deviants. Last month, for example, Democratic donor Ghislaine Maxwell received a 20-year sentence for abusing and trafficking underage girls at the behest of Jeffrey Epstein, the scofflaw pedophile who “committed suicide” in 2019. Maxwell was a longtime friend of former president Bill Clinton, who gifted her a signed copy of his post-White House memoir and made numerous trips aboard Epstein’s private jet, nicknamed the “Lolita Express.” In 2010, Maxwell attended Chelsea Clinton’s wedding to failed hedge-fund manager Marc Mezvinsky.

In 2020, the Democratic Party lost one of its most prolific benefactors when Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein received a 23-year sentence after his conviction on charges of rape and sexual assault. Prior to his arrest in 2018, Weinstein consulted Anita Dunn for “damage control” advice. The longtime Biden adviser is viewed as a likely contender to replace White House chief of staff Ron Klain after the midterm elections.

Less than a year before Weinstein’s arrest, another prominent Democrat was sent to prison for child sex crimes. Former congressman Anthony Weiner (D., N.Y.) received a 21-month sentence after pleading guilty to transferring obscene material to a minor. Weiner, the disgraced husband of longtime Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin, was accused of “[asking] a girl who he knew to be 15 years old to display her naked body and engage in sexually explicit behavior for him online.” His shockingly degenerate behavior, first reported by the Washington Free Beacon‘s Alana Goodman, prompted the FBI to reopen its investigation into Clinton’s private email server, a development that likely contributed to her humiliating defeat in the 2016 election.

A man in Chicago’s Uptown area has been accused of throwing a naked woman to her death from an apartment window on Wednesday.

“‘I threw the b*tch out the window,’ Tyson Tillman said in a phone call from the police station, according to prosecutor James O’Connor, a comment allegedly captured on a Chicago police officer’s bodyworn camera,” CWB Chicago reported Sunday, adding the victim was identified as Tabitha Tanner.

Tillman arrived at the building on North Magnolia late that evening and his girlfriend appeared nearly 40 minutes later, O’Connor explained.

Doorbell cameras reportedly showed the man’s girlfriend in the hallway, and just before 11:00 p.m., an outside camera caught the moment Tanner’s body fell to the ground in an alleyway behind the building.

The outlet also provided a photo of the suspect in the case:

Tillman, 38, was seen leaving his apartment in a red shirt moments after Tanner fell, and an exterior camera captured someone in a red shirt checking on her body at 11:03 p.m., according to O’Connor. Tillman re-entered the building at 11:11 p.m., he said.

The body was found Thursday morning, and the suspect later reportedly admitted the pair had engaged in a physical altercation inside the apartment, claiming her clothes came off at that time and the woman fell out the window.

“But investigators took Tillman in for questioning, and an officer’s bodyworn camera allegedly recorded him saying in a phone call, ‘I threw the b*tch out the window,'” the outlet added.

According to an April report, arrest rates have dropped from previous years in the city of Chicago as crime continues to plague the area.

“The rate at which CPD has been solving cases for many violent crimes is at a shocking low,” CBS Chicago stated:

Per the CWB Chicago article, the suspect was previously sentenced to prison multiple times mostly for drug-related offenses.

Now, officials have charged him with first-degree murder, and a judge ordered him held without bail.

Meanwhile, 71 individuals were shot, eight fatally, over the Fourth of July holiday weekend in Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s (D) Chicago.

The ‘bodega’ case will hurt Democrats

"Bodega" is one of those places that we grew up going to. "El bodeguero" or the man who works at "la bodega," is one of those faces in the community that everybody knows and likes. When I was a kid in Cuba, my mother would call "la bodega" with an order and "el bodeguero" would send someone on a motorcycle with bags of things. My mother would sign a note and some kind of credit account was created.  All I know is that my father would go by and pay the account and smoke a cigar. It all worked so well and "la bodega" was in the middle of it all.   

So what happened in New York?  A "bodeguero" was arrested for defending himself? Here is the story:   

The facts of that case as they’ve been reported: After an argument between 61-year-old bodega worker Jose Alba and a woman customer, the woman’s boyfriend, Austin Simon, entered the bodega and attacked Alba behind the counter. 

During the struggle, Alba grabbed a knife and stabbed Simon. At some point Simon’s girlfriend also joined the fight, stabbing Alba several times in the arm. 

Simon died of his wounds. Alba was arrested by police and charged with intentional murder by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.      

That the incident, and Alba’s apparent efforts at self-defense, were caught on video fueled instantaneous outrage over the arrest -- which only grew as new facts emerged.      

For one, Alba is by all accounts a longtime pillar of his community, a mild-mannered Dominican immigrant with no criminal record who works long hours. Simon, a 35-year-old violent career criminal with numerous felony arrests, was out on parole for assaulting a police officer.    

What's happening to the country, or more specifically to New York?  Alba, age 61, stabs Simon, age 35, in self-defense and he is the villain of the story?  And Simon is a career criminal to go with it!   

It's hard to tell what electoral impact this will have in New York City.  I can guarantee that this story will flow from coast to coast and remind everyone that Democrats don't care about the people who work and pay taxes.

At Least 28 Shot During Weekend in Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s (D) Chicago

At least 28 people were shot, one of them fatally, during the weekend in Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s (D) Chicago.

ABC 7 / Chicago Sun-Times notes the shooting fatality occurred Saturday night, a 31-year-old man was shot in the face during what is believed to have been “an exchange of gunfire” with a second individual. The 31-year-old was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead.

The second individual in the incident, a male 25-30 years of age, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was hospitalized in serious condition.

There was a three-hour time-frame Sunday morning in which seven people were shot in the 18th police district. That district has witnessed a 100 percent increase in murders over last year and “shootings are up 53 percent.”

Breitbart News reported at least 71 people were shot over the Fourth of July weekend in Chicago, eight of them fatally. Those 71 shooting victims did not include the numerous people killed and wounded in the attack on the parade of Chicago’s Highland Park suburb.

The Sun-Times observes 331 people were killed in Chicago January 1, 2022, through July 10, 2022.

Authorities in Philadelphia are searching for a group of apparently teenaged suspects who were involved in the alleged beating of an elderly man to death with a traffic cone in June.

The shocking attack occurred on June 24 at around 2:38 p.m. in the 2100 block of Cecil B. Moore Avenue, according to the Philadelphia Police Department (PPD).

James “Simmie” Lambert, 72, was identified as the victim of the fatal beating, NBC 10 reported.

In a statement on the details of the beating, police say Lambert “was attacked by four Black male and three Black female teen offenders. The teens struck the victim several times with objects, knocking the victim to the ground causing injuries to his head.”

Lambert was transported to a hospital, where he died of his injuries the next day, police said. A medical examiner ruled the 72-year-old’s death as due to blunt force trauma, WPVI reported.

In a surveillance video released by the PPD on Friday, the suspects can be seen chasing Lambert – who is blurred – where one of them hits Lambert with a traffic cone. As Lambert is on the ground, where one suspect appears to be filming, a girl is seen picking up the same cone and striking the 72-year-old.

After being hit twice, it appears that Lambert stands up and starts walking away before the same girl grabs the cone and strikes him again. During the beating, it appears as if the group is laughing while some film the attack with their cell phones.

Officials in Philadelphia are offering a $20,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspects involved with the homicide.

Philadelphia Homicide Capt. Jason Smith is asking for the suspects’ parents to come forward and help with the investigation.

“The message I would like to put out there is to the parents of these juveniles, if they are aware that their son or daughter is involved in this incident, I think that the best course of action would be for them to contact an attorney and then contact the homicide unit,” Smith said, per WPVI.

Lambert’s family told NBC 10 that they were “heartbroken” by the attack. They had just seen him prior to it.

“To date, there have been 280 homicides in Philadelphia in 2022, according to police data,” per NBC 10. Last year was the deadliest year on record for homicides.

Breitbart News reported in June that the city of Brotherly Love “has suffered a[n] … increase in violent crime under the direction of Mayor James Kenney (D), climbing an even 7 percent in 2022 compared to the first half of 2021.”

On This Important Metric, America Is a Failure

Recently, a Connecticut teen, reportedly a gang member with an extensive rap sheet, was arrested in connection with 18 shootings.  For years this young man has been out on the streets, committing crimes, getting arrested, and repeatedly being released.  It's time to crack down on crime, but in many leftist districts, politicians and prosecutors are having none of it.

There is an abnormal amount of crime in the U.S., though progressives continue to deny it.  The most convincing proof is the murder rate: there are 2.6 as many homicides in the U.S. as in Canada (2019 figures), five times as many as in Germany, more than sixteen times more than in Japan.  Violent crime in the U.S. is very real, and it is out of control.

Politicians like Biden and Harris talk about bail reform, over-representation of minorities in prison, and "root causes" of everything.  But the plain truth is that there are violent criminals out there who are entirely lacking in conscience and feeling.  The only solution is to apprehend these criminals and send them to prison for a long time — and to make prison a place where they will not want to return after they are released.

Prison conditions should be harsh, not the country club of decent meals, clean cells, elective health care, and cable TV enjoyed by most prisoners today.  There is nothing "cruel and unusual" about providing spartan, unappealing conditions for those who prey on society and make life intolerable for many innocent persons.

This is the approach of the Japanese prison system, in which inmates are assigned simple cells with tatami mats for sleeping and sitting during the day and in which simple meals consist of rice, barley, fish, and vegetables — healthy fare, but no picnic.  Prisoners are responsible for cleaning, cooking, and maintaining the premises.

According to one authority, Japanese prisons "are known to be very strict, in order to rehabilitate inmates and ensure they never commit a crime again."  These conditions include being allowed to speak only during "free time," which is limited, and only in quiet voices.  "Entertainment" consists of an hour or so of simple radio or TV, but work takes up most of the day.

Apparently, this strict prison system works.  The 2019 figures show only 48,400 prisoners in a country with a population of 120 million, and the recidivism rate is estimated at approximately 50%.  U.S. prisons contain a total of 2.4 million, with recidivism running as high as 85%, depending on the state.  Given the reputation of prisons in Japan as places of true punishment, few Japanese commit crimes to begin with, and those who do spend time in a Japanese prison do not want to return.  

The upshot of the Japanese justice system is that innocent citizens are spared the harm of violent crime.  In 2018, there were only 334 murders in all of Japan, a country with 128 million people.  In the U.S., there were 16,214.

Japan enjoys a low crime rate in part because of its vigilant policing, strict prosecutors (with a 99% conviction rate), and spartan prison conditions.  Crimes are truly punished, and as a result, there are low crime rates.  Something is terribly wrong with the American justice system, and progressives' support of even greater leniency is making matters worse.

One shouldn't have to say it, but prison should be a place of punishment.  Yet, according to one source, prison meals aren't that bad.  "Typical lunch for prison may include pasta, vegetable salad, ham or sausage and loaf of bread.  Half a cup of vegetables, or a serving of fruit such as apple or banana, is served with it."  Better than what many on the outside are eating.  

Another inmate who blogs describes her New York prison as containing "a library, beauty shop  ... a medical wing, a rec yard and a gym."  While most inmates work, "[n]ot all inmates worked full time jobs.  Some would go to G.E.D class, or take a break for classes like thinking errors, parenting and anger management."  Thinking errors?!  I imagine so, but I don't think a class on "thinking errors" will deter a hardened criminal from future crimes.

I am not suggesting cruelty or neglect or lack of medical attention, but there is nothing wrong with depriving criminals of the comforts that most of us on the outside take for granted.

At present, a misguided incarceration policy attempts to rehabilitate repeat offenders by giving them a pleasant stay in comfortable surroundings, complete with counseling, job training, and even university courses.  That effort is failing, with 83% of prisoners arrested within nine years of their release, and that's only counting those who do get arrested.  Since there is a high likelihood that prisoners will continue to commit crimes after their release, the obvious solution, especially for violent criminals, is to keep them off the streets for a long time.          

The first obligation of government is to protect its citizens, whether from foreign attack or internal violence.  At present, the Biden administration is doing neither, and leftists at the state and local levels are doing just as badly.  It's time for some new thinking on crime.

First is to affirm that anyone who commits a serious crime must serve time without the likelihood of early release.

Second is that criminals must actually be punished.  Sitting in a comfortable cell with three meals a day and unlimited recreation is not punishment.

And when they have completed their full sentence and are released, criminals should know that the commission of another crime will lead to a much longer sentence.

New thinking on crime will result in less crime, and crime reduction should be the first purpose of domestic policy.  Every crime involves at least one victim, and today's criminals are running wild.  Gangs enter exclusive stores and haul off bag-loads of goods.  California has decriminalized theft of less than $900, so stores are closing down to avoid being wiped out.  And this kind of burglary often involves assault of store personnel.

Worse yet are carjackings, home invasions, and senseless murders of innocent bystanders.  Police are spread thin, especially in large districts such as Los Angeles County, and the national "clearance rate" of murders has fallen below 50% (2020 figures).  So even if one commits a serious crime, there is little chance of a long prison sentence.  Only 18% of property crimes are solved, with low conviction rates and light sentences, if any.  Half of Americans will see their homes burglarized at some point.

This is not the "life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness" promised by our Founders.  Citizens have an absolute right to live free of crime, but progressive government is not delivering on this promise.

Crime of all sorts is mounting, and weak liberal policies are the cause of it.  We need more funding for police, prosecutors who actually prosecute, and prisons that actually punish.  And though it should not be necessary to say it, those who are convicted of serious crimes should serve long sentences in prisons to which they do not wish to return.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) released images of two suspects wanted in connection with the robbery of an aide to New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

Chris Baugh, 33, who also worked under former Mayor Bill de Blasio (D), was mugged at gunpoint in Brooklyn on Tuesday at around 10:30 a.m., Breitbart News reported. The robbery occurred at York Street and Hudson Avenue.

According to the NYPD, the suspects pushed the aide to the ground, took his belongings, and brandished a firearm at him. The robbers stole Baugh’s wallet and two cellphones and fled into a nearby housing development, PIX11 reported, citing authorities.

One suspect fled on a Citi bike, while the other escaped on foot, CBS New York reported.

During the robbery, Baugh apparently told the muggers, “You don’t want to do this. I work for the mayor,” the New York Post reported. The 33-year-old did not want medical attention at the scene, PIX11 noted.

The mayor’s office released a statement to the press the next day, citing the need for more gun control, per CBS New York:

Chris works hard for the city every day, and he deserves to be safe while conducting his job, just like every other New Yorker. Public safety has been Mayor Adams’ top priority since day one and that is why the NYPD is working diligently every day to reduce crime. As the mayor said today, he wants results as quickly as possible, and while we have seen progress over the last few months — taking more than 3,000 guns off the streets and reducing shootings and homicides by double digits — there is no overnight fix. Today’s incident only further highlights the urgency to get dangerous guns and dangerous people off our streets as quickly as possible. New York City employees are city residents, and we will do everything in our power to keep all New Yorkers safe.

Hank Sheinkopf, a Democrat political consultant, was not optimistic about what this mugging could mean for all New York City residents, according to the Post.

“New Yorkers would feel a lot better if the muggers were afraid of committing a crime against a mayor’s staffer. They were not,” Sheinkopf said. “That’s all you need to know. New Yorkers are going to feel less safe.”

The gunpoint robbery comes as more than 50 people were shot in New York City over the Fourth of July weekend.

Violent crime is also on the rise in the Big Apple, as “statistics show the seven major felony categories – including the four violent crimes in conjunction with burglary, grand larceny auto, and grand larceny – have risen an astounding 38 percent through June 19,” compared to last year, Breitbart News noted.

More than 50 people were shot over the Fourth of July weekend in Mayor Eric Adam’s (D) New York City.

PIX 11 reports that July 4 alone saw 62-year-old John Edwards shot and killed at 10:30 p.m. “along Prospect Avenue near East 187th Street” and two men, ages 19 and 23, shot and killed in a bodega at 11:40 p.m.

Numerous people were shot and wounded July 4 too, including four who were shot while at a barbeque in Jamaica, Queens.

NBC 4 noted there were 14 shootings on July 4 alone, leaving 21 wounded in addition to the three killed.

Monday morning, before the day’s shooting fatalities had occurred, PIX 11 noted the number of July 4th weekend shootings in NYC had already “spiked 60 percent” compared to the same time frame in 2021.

Mike Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety lists New York as No. 3 in the nation for stringent gun laws.

New York has a red flag law, universal background checks, an “assault weapons” ban, a “high capacity” magazine ban, and numerous other gun controls, including limitations on where law-abiding concealed carry permit holders can be armed for self-defense.

Democrat-run Chicago witnessed at least 71 shooting victims over the Fourth of July weekend; eight of those shooting victims succumbed to their wounds.

Seventy-one people were shot, eight of them fatally, during the July 4th weekend in Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s (D) Chicago.

Breitbart News noted at least 54 people were shot Friday into Monday morning alone, as the holiday weekend progressed. Seven of those 54 shooting victims succumbed to their wounds.

When the July 4th holiday weekend was complete ABC 7 / Chicago Sun-Times reported the total number of shooting victims had risen to 71, with one additional fatal shooting, bringing the total number of shooting fatalities to eight.

The Chicago gun crime was slightly lower than what was witnessed over July 4th during 2021, when over 100 people were shot, 19 of them fatally.

Data from the Sun-Times shows 321 people were killed in Chicago January 1, 2022, through July 4, 2022.

The at least 71 shooting victims from the holiday weekend do not include the six fatalities and numerous wounded individuals who were struck by gunfire during a July 4th parade in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park, as Breitbart News reported.

ABC 7 notes that “the parade was stopped about 10 minutes after it kicked off at 10 a.m.,” when the sound of gunfire rang out.

Police told parade attendees, “Everybody disperse, please. It is not safe to be here.”

Chairs, blankets, and baby strollers were left behind as people scrambled for cover.

FOX 32 reports that a Chicago Sun-Times “saw blankets covering three bloodied bodies and five other people wounded and bloodied near the parade’s reviewing stand.”

The Sun-Times notes that 5 people were killed and 16 wounded in the incident.

Newsmax correspondent Alex Salvi tweeted, “There are reportedly multiple fatalities following a shooting at an Independence Day parade in Highland Park, Illinois.” He went on to write, “Warning: Gunshots heard in below video”:

'Defund the police' advocate Cori Bush says her vehicle has been shot at three times since 2014

Rep. Cori Bush (D., Mo.) needs a new car.

The controversial congresswoman, a proud member of "The Squad," has shelled out tens of thousands of dollars on private security while continuing to advocate for "defunding the police." Bush's critics, she said, need to "suck it up."

In any event, she is clearly not doing enough to protect the security of her vehicle, according to an analysis by Twitter user @JusticeDemWatch. Based on news reports and Bush's posts on social media, her car has been attacked on at least five occasions since 2014, when she claimed a bullet was fired through the trunk of her car during a protest in Ferguson, Mo.

In June 2019, the congresswoman posted a series of bizarre tweets in response to what she described as a suspicious encounter with a black vehicle.

"The black car with tinted windows sent to crash into me the other day was yet again, an unsuccessful attempt to stop me," wrote Bush, who was a candidate for Congress at the time. "So tell ya boss & ya buddies I only get more fired up each time."

The congresswoman had a message for the "cowards" who tried to get her: "I'M NOT AFRAID OF YOU & I'M NOT GOING TO STOP!" Bush proceeded to announce that she was not suicidal and asked her followers to demand an investigation should anything happen to her.

"If I choke, fall down stairs, die in my sleep, car accident, ‘accidental' shooting, suicide etc. INVESTIGATE," she said. "I don't need sympathy, I need people to know this stuff is real and it has never stopped. Not a conspiracy theory."

Bush's car was allegedly shot a second time in June 2020. "My car took the bullets. I am safe," she wrote in a Twitter post that included photos of a white Hyundai SUV with a flat tire and a damaged door handle.

"A bullet went through my door handle on one side of the car, another went through my tire on the other side," she wrote. "I'm committed to taking us from ‘surviving St. Louis' to ‘living it.'"

Two months later, Bush's SUV was allegedly broken into and ransacked. The only item missing was the bullhorn she often used at anti-police protests. The Washington Post reported Bush's account of the incident, describing it as "the kind of not-so-subtle message of intimidation that the activist turned congresswoman-elect has gotten used to over six years of being a leading Black Lives Matter organizer."

Bush's car was shot again in January 2022 in St. Louis. Her spokesman told CNN the congresswoman was not in the car at the time and there was no evidence that she was targeted. "Any act of gun violence shakes your soul," Bush wrote in a Twitter post thanking supporters for their concern. "That's why our movement is working to invest in our communities, eradicate the root causes of gun violence, and keep everyone safe."

It is not clear how defunding the police would accomplish any of her stated goals.

Thirty-one people were shot, four of them fatally, Friday into Sunday morning in Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s (D) Chicago.

ABC 7 / Chicago Sun-Times reports the weekend’s first shooting fatality occurred at 10:50 p.m. Friday, when a 24-year-old woman was shot and killed “in the 2200 block of South Wentworth Avenue.”

The victim was caught in the crossfire as two gunmen shot at each other.

Hours later, at 12:20 a.m. Saturday, a 30-year-old man was shot in the head and killed “in the 9000 block of South Escanaba Avenue.”

The third fatal shooting occurred at 3 a.m. Sunday, when a 35-year-old man was shot while riding inside a vehicle “in the 3800 block of South Kedzie Avenue.” The man was shot in the neck by someone outside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Breitbart News noted at least 11 people were shot, two stabbed, Monday alone in Chicago.

The Sun-Times reports that 317 people were killed in Chicago January 1, 2022, through July 2, 2o22.

The face of the NFL's newest social justice initiative is an anti-Semitic rapper who in his songs has called for violence against Jews and Asians.

Ice Cube, whose real name is O'Shea Jackson, has in his songs referred to a Jewish music producer as a "white Jew" and "cracker" and Asian shopkeepers as "little Chinese motherfucker[s]." He is also an admirer of Louis Farrakhan, the Nation of Islam leader who has called Jews wicked and compared them to "termites."

Now, Ice Cube will lead the NFL's "economic equity" program to spur partnerships with black–owned businesses. The partnership is through the rapper's Contract With Black America Institute, which supports reparations and affirmative action for secondary schools and colleges.

The move comes as the NFL faces intense criticism over its handling of race issues. Former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores earlier this year sued the league and three of its teams for alleged racial discrimination. Social justice activists have criticized the NFL for failing to hire more black head coaches.

Ice Cube has an extensive history of anti-Semitic, anti-white, and anti-Asian rhetoric. He came under fire in 2020 for a series of social media posts with anti-Semitic tropes and for praising Farrakhan.

"The Honorable Louis Farrakhan continues to warn America to this very second and he's labeled one of your ‘evil names' and you turn your ears off," Ice Cube tweeted in June 2020.

The rapper, who has posted photos with Farrakhan, later that month chided CNN anchor Jake Tapper for calling the preacher a "vile, anti-LGBTQ, anti-Semitic misogynist."

"Watch your mouth, Jake," Ice Cube warned Tapper, who is Jewish.

Ice Cube at the time denied allegations of anti-Semitism, but the scandal renewed scrutiny of songs from earlier in his career that urge violence against Asians and Jewish music executive Jerry Heller.

In the track "No Vaseline" from the 1991 album Death Certificate, Ice Cube called Heller a "white Jew" and "cracker."

"Get rid of that devil real simple. Put a bullet in his temple," he rapped.

In "Black Korea," the rapper threatened to "burn" Asian-owned stores "to a crisp" over perceived racial profiling. He referred to the store owners as "little Chinese motherfucker[s]" and "Oriental one penny countin' motherfuckers."

Rioters in Ice Cube's South Central Los Angeles neighborhood looted and burned thousands of Asian-owned convenience stores the year after the Rodney King verdict.

The associate dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center called for a boycott of the album at the time, saying that Ice Cube's lyrics "threaten and promote violence" against Asians and "call for the murder" of Heller.

The NFL and Ice Cube's group did not respond to requests for comment.

Boston City Councilor Goes On Anti-Semitic Rant After BDS Loses in Court

A Democratic Boston city councilor is under fire for informing her constituents that they are "letting the Zionists SHAKE YOU DOWN," rhetoric that a watchdog group says is grossly anti-Semitic.

"Ya'll are letting the Zionists SHAKE YOU DOWN," Boston city councilor Kendra Lara tweeted on Thursday, referencing a court decision this week that upheld a law targeting the anti-Semitic campaign to boycott Israel. She later deleted the tweet.

Lara—a member of the Democratic Socialists of America and an ally of "Squad" member Ayanna Pressley (D., Mass.) who took the far-left congresswoman's "policy pledge"—quickly came under fire for the tweet, with one user of the social media site saying her language is identical to that used by "neo-Nazis and Holocaust deniers."

"Oh I get it! The use of the phrasing was lost on me but I have been told now, thank you!" she tweeted in response.

Later that day, she clarified that she was talking about a federal court's ruling this week to uphold an Arkansas law that bars the state government from contracting with an entity that supports the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which wages economic warfare on Israel. Then she issued copious apologies, saying that reinforcing "anti-Semitic tropes about the Jewish people" was not her intent and that she "should have known better." She then deleted her original tweet.

Lara is one of many far-left activists to condemn the anti-BDS court decision. The decision is seen as a bellwether for other anti-BDS laws that are being challenged by anti-Israel forces across America.

Lara's comments are a thinly veiled shot at American Jews, according to Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, a watchdog group that combats anti-Semitism.

"Will the city councilor be held accountable for her slur by her peers, by the media, by the voters, for this screed?" Cooper said in comments to the Washington Free Beacon. "Why would a local politician in Boston get worked up over an Arkansas court upholding anti-BDS laws—an important tool to fight back against anti-Semitic BDS? Maybe because she hates ‘Zionists'—read Jews."

Lara has repeatedly used this type of rhetoric in the past.

When Ben & Jerry's pulled out of Israel as part of its support for the BDS movement, Lara mocked pro-Israel advocates who launched their own boycott of the company.

"Zionists: *Googles how to ethnically cleanse ice cream company*," she tweeted in July 2021. The tweet is a reference to unfounded accusations by anti-Israel activists that Israel is engaged in the genocide of Palestinians. These types of remarks are widely considered anti-Semitic.

"Oh, the blue check mark Zionists have found me. *Mutes tweet*," Lara tweeted after her initial missive drew pushback.

Cooper said that Lara's rhetoric embodies "two of the most distressing aspects of anti-Semitism today in America"—"violent Jew-hatred" and the "increasing of open, blatant Jew-hatred in the mainstream of our society."

There is "little or no accountability or consequences" for targeting Jewish people in this way, Cooper said, adding that "anti-Semitic hate crimes"—which are rising at steep rates—"don't happen in a vacuum."

Neither Lara nor Pressley responded by press time to a Free Beacon request for comment.

Alice Walker, the author of The Color Purple, has been disinvited from a book festival when the organizers discovered her long history of antisemitic remarks about Jews and Israel, the Jewish state that she often compares to Nazi Germany. A book festival in California has disinvited Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist and poet Alice Walker from its event due to the author’s history of making antisemitic remarks about Jews and Israel, The Jewish News of Northern California reported on Friday.

Walker, 78, was scheduled to interview writer Honorée Fanonne Jeffers, at the latter’s request, at the headlining event of the annual Bay Area Book Festival, which will take place May 7-8 in downtown Berkeley and is set to feature over 250 authors. The festival is the main project of the Foundation for the Future of Literature and Literacy, a California non-profit organization.

Organizers cancelled Walker’s participation in the festival on Thursday after being informed about her past hateful comments, according to The Jewish News of Northern California. Jeffers subsequently pulled out of the festival in response, the festival’s publicist Julia Drake told the outlet.…

Walker, who was the first Black woman to win a Pulitzer Prize for fiction for “The Color Purple” in 1983, has repeatedly compared Israel to Nazi Germany and is an avid supporter of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement. In 2011, she claimed, “I think Israel is the greatest terrorist in that part of the world. And I think in general, the United States and Israel are great terrorist organizations themselves.” That same year she said Israel is “as frightening to many of us as Germany used to be.” Walker has also made antisemitic claims about Jews and Israel in her poetry.

Walker has been obsessed with Jews and Israel for years. She frequently compares Israel to Nazi Germany, and attacks the Talmud as an evil and racist document. In 2018, she promoted a book by British antisemite and conspiracy theorist David Icke, And the Truth Shall Set You Free, during an interview with The New York Times. In the book, Icke claims that Jews control the world and quotes frequently from the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Icke, whose work Alice Walker so admires, describes the Talmud as “among the most appallingly racist documents on the planet,” and claimed that Jewish organizations are secretly behind various racist groups, including the Ku Klux Klan.

Walker’s interview of the writer Honorée Fannone Jeffers was to have been the headline event at the Bay Area Book Festival. Jeffers, as the writer being honored in this fashion, had insisted that Walker be her interviewer. Jeffers must have known, when she chose her, Walker’s history of antisemitism, her repeated denunciations of Jews, Judaism, and Israel. She would have known Walker’s work, including the very long 2017 poem Walker wrote in which she called Israeli rule “demonic to the core,” and suggested that to understand “the inspiration for so much evil,” one must “study The Talmud” and “its poison.” Jeffers apparently was not bothered by any of this; she wanted Walker and no one else to interview her. And when Walker was disinvited because of her history of antisemitism Jeffers, in a sign of solidarity with Walker, refused to appear at the Book Festival.

Walker’s hatred of Israel is extraordinary. She told an Israeli publisher in 2012 that she does not allow The Color Purple to be translated into Hebrew because “Israel is guilty of apartheid and persecution of the Palestinian people, both inside Israel and also in the Occupied Territories.”

The organizers of the Bay Area Book Festival had apparently not known the extent of her demented antisemitism, when they chose her to interview Honorée Fannone Jeffers at the headline event, did not know the full extent of her hatred of Israel – “demonic to the core” — the Jewish state that she compares to Nazi Germany, nor her deep hatred of Judaism, and that Talmud whose “poison” she denounces. But when it was brought to their attention, the organizers of the Bay Area Book Festival did the right thing, and at once disinvited the disgraceful Alice Walker. It is heartening that there was no wobbling on the issue, once the evidence of her malignant obsession was presented, no attempt to explain away or hide her spittle-flecked hatred. She won’t be an honored guest; she won’t be anything at all, at the Bay Area Book Festival. That’s as it should be.
