Nearly One-Third of Americans Expect to Be Poorer in a Year

Never before have so many Americans felt their prospects are so rotten.
The University of Michigan’s survey of consumer sentiment showed on Friday that 32 percent of Americans expect the financial condition of their household to worsen over the coming year, a record high share, largely due to rising prices
“When asked to explain changes in their finances in their own words, more consumers mentioned reduced living standards due to rising inflation than any other time except during the two worst recessions in the past fifty years: from March 1979 to April 1981, and from May to October 2008. Moreover, 32% of all consumers expected their overall financial position to worsen in the year ahead, the highest recorded level since the surveys started in the mid-1940s,” said Richard Curtin, the chief economist of the survey.
Consumer sentiment has declined sharply in Biden’s first year in office, with the University of Michigan measure dropping 30 percent from a year ago. What’s more, just 16 percent say they have confidence in the country’s economic policies, one-third as many as those who say they do not have confidence.
About seven in 10 Americans say the nation’s economy is in bad shape, and nearly two-thirds disapprove of Biden’s handling of the economy, according to a poll released Friday from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

Bidenflation Strains Food Banks as Food Insecurity Rises NICK GILBERTSON
Food banks are feeling strains from inflated prices and increased demand, while President Joe Biden says a food shortage that is “going to be real” looms.
Food insecurity numbers have been on the rise since at least late Summer 2021, the Washington Post reported , citing the U.S. Census Bureau Household Pulse Survey, which compiles and releases data “on how the coronavirus pandemic has impacted people’s lives.” In early August, the survey showed that about eight percent of Americans who responded said they either “sometimes” or “often” did not have enough to eat.
The number climbed to ten percent by early February, with thirteen percent of households with children reporting they either “sometimes” or “often” did not have enough to eat.
Inflation has sent the Consumer Price Index up a whopping 7.9 percent over the past year — “the largest 12-month increase since the period ending July 1981,” the Bureau of Labor Statistics said in its February report, released March 10.
What is more, on Thursday, President Joe Biden said that a food shortage looms, stemming from sanctions imposed on Russia.

“It’s going to be real,” Biden said when asked about discussions with world leaders about food shortages.
He pointed out that Russia and Ukraine were considered the “breadbasket of Europe,” producing nearly a third of wheat exports around the world. Biden also previewed tough times ahead for food supplies across the globe.
“The price of these sanctions is not just imposed upon Russia; it’s imposed upon an awful lot of countries, as well, including European countries and our country, as well,” Biden said.
Biden’s announcement comes at a time when most “food banks say food purchase costs are up, and they’re also paying more for transportation and distribution, while reporting labor shortages,” while food bank officials have reported increased demand, the Post wrote.
Chad Higdon, CEO of Second Harvest Community Food Bank in St Joseph, Missouri, told KQ2 that he had seen a substantial increase in costs over the past six months.
“Even just looking at these last six months, compared to the previous six months, we’re seeing about a 10% increase in food and transportation costs,” he told the outlet.
He added that family demand is still high, and the organization is working to meet needs with less to offer and increased expenses.
“So we’re still seeing high volume of families that are that are coming to our mobile food pantries that really are looking for that additional support,” Higdon said. “But we’re trying to figure out now how to really respond with with less resources and more expenses to really get to meet the need.”
The Post reports:
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack told The Washington Post that $100 million in new grants has been made available to the Emergency Food Assistance Program state agencies, and that the USDA has the purchasing power through a separate program to supplement the commodities that food banks need. Vilsack said he understands food banks are facing difficult situations.
“We can always take a look at purchasing food. But what we’ve got here is a situation where we have lots of demand and unstable supply,” Vilsack noted. “We’re addressing the supply chain issue, but that’s going to take time.”

Astonishingly, the president of the United States stood before the world this week, predicting “real food shortages” without mentioning a plan to keep us fed.
“With regard to food shortages—yes, we did talk about food shortages, and, uh, and it’s gonna be real,” His Fraudulency Joe Biden said at a Thursday news conference. “The price of these sanctions is not just imposed upon Russia; it’s imposed upon an awful lot of countries, as well. Including European countries and our country, as well.”
Naturally, Biden said this just a few days after Press Secretary Lyin’ Ginger said Americans are unlikely to face food shortages.
“While we’re not expecting a food shortage here at home, we do anticipate that higher energy, fertilizer, wheat, and corn prices could impact the price of growing and purchasing critical fuel supply, food supplies for countries around the world,” she said .
But now, per the president himself, America will face “real” food shortages. So what’s the plan!!???
Food shortages. Real food shortages. That sounds like a pretty big deal to me. That sounds like something an American president might like to start mobilizing for. You know, we are still America. We are still a dynamic country with millions and millions of square miles of unused farmland that could easily make up for losing Ukraine as the “breadbasket of the world.”

Biden said, “Russia and Ukraine have been the breadbasket of Europe in terms of wheat,” and insisted that he and other leaders had a “long discussion in the G7” about the need to “increase and disseminate” food production.
“In addition to that, we talked about urging all the European countries, and everyone else, to end trade … limitations on sending food abroad,” Biden said. “And, so, we are in the process of working out with our European friends what it would take to help alleviate the concerns relative to the food shortages.”
That’s not a plan. That’s BS. That’s a plan to come up with a plan.

The first priority must be mobilizing efforts to ensure America can produce enough food to feed its own. Once that’s accomplished, we must do what we can to feed the world.
There is no reason why America cannot become the world’s breadbasket and do so by this summer.
One of the blessings of America is our bounty of plenty. Everyone has enough to eat, a decent place to live, medical care, and all kinds of stuff . That’s a beautiful thing, truly. But this bounty is such a given in American life it blinds us to the idea that life could be anything else. We are blessed, but this blessing helps us forget that for most of human history and much of the world still, things like food, shelter, housing, medical care, and stuff are not the norm.
Full shelves, full bellies, stuff, stuff, stuff… It all comes to us so effortlessly, almost like magic. Store shelves are full because of course, they are!
But beneath this magic is a whole weave of slender threads that make our full shelves and bellies possible, and if just one of those threads breaks, we will face untold misery. And most of us, including myself, are so spoiled by this bounty we have no idea what to do if one of those slender threads breaks. We’re not prepared to hunt or grow or gather.
So here we are, currently living in a country where the American president is predicting “real” food shortages, something this country has not faced in a hundred years, and he’s not doing a damn thing about it… This is especially galling when we live in a bountiful country with all the resources (and then some) to ensure we never again have to depend on a foreign country to feed our own.
This, like the historically high gas prices currently battering the poor and working-class, are perfect opportunities for a leader, a real leader, a compassionate leader, to say, Enough of this outsourcing of the American way of life. America has these resources, and we will never again depend on a slender thread.
But Biden will never do that because he’s a monster who sees the effects of industrial farming and oil drilling on Mother Earth as not worth the benefits those things offer human beings, including Americans.
That’s the bottom line to all this.
That’s why Biden admits he believes America will face “real” food shortages and won’t do a damn thing about it.
Like the rest of the Democrats and organized left, Biden would rather see us suffer and starve than open our own lands to energy and food production.

Bidenflation is Making Us Poorer

It’s amazing how often President Trump was pilloried by the leftist media for comments that later turned out to be 100% correct. For example, January 2017, Trump said that his campaign was spied on. Democrats and their media had a meltdown. Last month, the Durham investigation and the Wall Street Journal proved that candidate Trump, president-elect Trump, and President Trump was, in fact, spied on by the FBI (probably the NSA as well). Then, October 2020, Trump said, “The policies of the Left would unleash an economic disaster of epic proportions.” Again, the Dems and their media (CNN, NY Times , ABC, etc.) had a meltdown. Sadly, we are experiencing Trump’s predicted economic disaster -- historic inflation and record gas prices.
Regarding inflation, when Trump left office, inflation was an annual rate of 1.2%. In the past six months, inflation is out of control. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, year-over-year inflation was 6.2% (October), followed by 6.8%, 7.0%, 7.5%, and 7.9% (in February ). If they used the old method (pre-1980) of determining inflation, it would be over 14.5%. Thank you, Joe, for your Bidenflation.
Throughout history, perhaps nothing has destroyed more governments than food shortages and economic collapse. Except for war, it’s hard to think of anything that creates more panic than not being able to afford basic necessities like food or fuel. Right now, the United States is in danger of falling into those conditions, yet Biden seems to be unconcerned. Worse, he doesn’t even notice it’s happening. The Dems think that record inflation, spiking gas prices, and supply issues will go away if they simply ignore what’s happening. And why won’t they? If a boy can become a girl by mere fantasy, then inflation and economic disaster can certainly be averted by wishful thinking.
Biden’s inflation is the result of his horrendous economic policies and a war on petroleum. President Trump accurately predicted that Bidenflation would lead to $7.00 gas prices . Unfortunately, most Bidenflation is on necessities -- energy and food. Again, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics , since Biden took office, energy is up 26%, gas (here in central GA) is up over 100%. Meat and poultry are up 13%, and used vehicles are up 41%. Consider inflation’s cost to businesses -- labor costs have increased dramatically, if you can even find people willing to work. Even high earners are worried about rising prices. Those making $40K or $50K, the income of many in rural Georgia, are terrified at their shrinking paychecks. Prices are rising far faster than wages.
Through the lens of Econ 101, look at two recent examples of supply and demand: April 2020 we were all “locked down,” not going to school, church, work, etc. -- we were driving less. Demand for gas decreased but supply stayed the same. What happened to gas? Prices dropped to $1.67/gallon (Georgia’s average), 35 cents lower than one month prior. Next, with all those people at home, not at the factory producing goods, supplies dropped. And with tens of millions of people sitting at home, they began home improvement projects -- i.e. buying items such as lumber, flooring, etc. Demand for home improvement items rose while supplies shrank because nobody was producing. What happened to prices at Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc.? They skyrocketed; 2 x 4s tripled in price -- demand rose, supplies shrank.
Regarding current inflation, Biden and his media insist “It’s not me, it’s Putin, it’s COVID” that’s responsible. Know this, whatever they (Biden and Democrats) say isn’t the cause, most certainly is the cause. So, what’s the root cause of Bidenflation?
Last week, Biden told us government spending simply isn’t the cause of inflation. Biden actually said that his historic spending will reduce the deficit and inflation. (Try telling your spouse that your $20,000 credit card charge actually reduced your deficits.) Even though Joe has never been mistaken for a genius, he knows perfectly well that government spending is the cause of inflation. Inflation is a function of the money supply. It’s nothing more than the number of dollars in circulation chasing goods available to purchase. The more money in circulation, the less each single dollar is worth, and prices rise.
Right now, through government regulatory action, Biden has reduced the supply of gas while demand has increased (people are driving more because lockdowns have finally ended). More importantly to our inflation discussion -- in the last year, the U.S. government, with Biden’s insistence, has printed more money than any government in world history. So, Biden greatly expanded the money supply; he reduced the supply of gas while demand for gas increased. Therefore, gas prices will rise, as we’ve seen. Our supply and demand and money supply scenario can be applied to every item in the economy. Prices have risen because the Federal Reserve has greatly expanded the money supply. More dollars in circulation means every dollar buys less than before. The result is higher prices or Bidenflation. It’s not complicated.
To be fair, the huge expansion of the money supply didn’t begin with Biden. It began back in 2008 when the Federal Reserve gave themselves emergency power to print endless amounts of money under the policy of “ quantitative easing (QE).” What is QE? Nobody really understands. It’s bureaucrat doublespeak. QE has been ongoing since 2008, but on steroids with Joe.
In the last year, Democrats and Biden have passed two of the largest spending bills in history, a $1.9 trillion package last March and another $ 1.5 trillion last week. (Recall last year everyone received $1,400 of “free money.”) Those huge spending bills are on top of Biden’s $6 trillion 2022 budget -- spending levels no government in human history has ever attempted, largely because most governments realize such spending will destroy the economy. Not Congress -- they have run up deficits that can never be repaid, unless every dollar is made less valuable; which they’re doing splendidly.
In real numbers, inflation will cost the average household $296 more each month or over $3,500 in 2022 alone. If you’re a big democrat like Obama, Hillary, or Stacey Abrams, that $3,500 means nothing. However, if you make $40,000, that $3,500 in additional costs is a disaster. That level of inflation will dramatically change your lifestyle. Bidenflation is making us poorer.

NRCC Poll Shows Democrats Are in Trouble Across 77 Battleground Congressional Districts JACOB BLISS
The latest poll from the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) of 77 battleground congressional districts across the country showed that the Democrats face headwinds with voters as they are being held responsible for record-high inflation, skyrocketing gas prices, and out-of-control spending.
The NRCC’s battleground survey covered the 77 battleground congressional districts that could determine control of Congress after redistricting. The committee surveyed these districts because they are currently held by the most “at-risk” Democrats, whose districts President Joe Biden won by only five and half points or less.
The poll found that Biden’s descending approval numbers help Republicans on the generic ballot as voters believe Democrats are “out of touch” and “condescending.” Biden’s approval in the battleground districts is 15 points underwater, as only 40 percent of the voters approve of the president, while 55 percent disapprove. Seventeen percent of those who disapprove, strongly disapprove of Biden’s performance.
Of the independents surveyed, only 30 percent approve of Biden’s job as president, with 62 percent disapproving — which has eroded by a net -34 points since February 2021. With Hispanic voters, Biden’s approval rating is at a net negative ten, a 31-point drop since February 2021.
With all of this, Republicans lead the generic ballot by four points, which the NRCC pointed out is despite Biden winning battleground districts by over five points in the last election cycle. Over the last year, since February 2021, Republicans have seen a seven-point improvement in the battleground survey. Overall, 75 percent of swing voters in those districts believe that Democrats are “out of touch” and “condescending” towards everyday Americans.
The poll found that the cost of living, jobs, and the economy were at the top of the list of concerns for battleground voters, giving Republicans an advantage with those voters. Forty-six percent of the respondents indicated that they are mainly concerned with economic issues. Twenty-six percent of the respondents said inflation and the cost of living should be the most important issue for Biden and Congress to work on, while 15 percent are most concerned about jobs and the economy.
The Republicans hold a 24-percent advantage over Democrats on the generic ballot with those respondents mostly concerned about the cost of living, and a 20-point advantage with respondents who are mostly concerned about jobs and the economy.
Fifty-two percent of the respondents blame the Biden administration and Congressional Democrats’ unwillingness to allow more oil and gas production in the United States for skyrocketing gas prices. In comparison, only 31 percent blame Russia’s invasion into Ukraine and sanctions on Russian oil and gas. Two-thirds (67 percent) believe Democrats in Congress are spending money out of control, and 56 percent of respondents said high gas prices are hurting their families the most, while 41 percent said rising food costs are hurting their families the most.
Respondents also overwhelmingly support Republicans focused on addressing Democrat-created crises. Seventy-five percent of respondents said they are more likely to support a Republican candidate who will fight to lower the price of groceries and gas. Also, 78 percent said the same for a Republican who will work to stop cartels from bringing drugs into the United States. Additionally, 80 percent said they are more likely to support a Republican candidate willing to advance energy innovation to help the country’s economic growth and lower energy prices.
Furthermore, 73 percent of the respondents favor increasing oil and gas production and exploration across the country — 54 percent of the respondents are “strongly” in favor. Only 23 percent of the respondents said they opposed having an increase in oil and gas production and exploration across the country; 13 percent of these said they strongly opposed it.
The NRCC’s survey was conducted from March 12 to 16, and polled 1,000 registered likely voters. The margin of error for the sample size was plus or minus 3.1 percent.

Poll: Majority Believe World Is Less Stable Since Joe Biden Assumed Office WENDELL HUSEBØ
A majority of Americans believe the world is less stable since President Joe Biden assumed office, a Wednesday TIPP poll revealed.
The poll conducted at the beginning of March asked 1,318 adults if the world under Biden’s presidency is more or less stable. Fifty-one percent said the world is less stable under Biden, while 24 percent said it was more stable. Eighteen percent of the world had not significantly changed.
Respondents differed in their opinion among party lines, with independents swinging the overall pendulum. Only 22 percent of Democrats, 88 percent of Republicans, and 53 percent of independents said the world is less safe under President Biden.
Recent polling also revealed that 56 percent blamed Biden’s deadly Afghan withdrawal for emboldening Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. Another poll showed that 62 percent believed Putin would not have invaded Ukraine if Donald Trump had been in office.
According to TIPP polling, Biden’s overall marks among party affiliations on Russia are terrible:
· 60% of Democrats give President Biden an A or B
· 80% of Republicans give him a D or F
· 51% of Independents give him a D or F
· 68% of conservatives grade him a D or F
· 40% of moderates give him a D or F, while 31% of them give him an A or B, and
· 51% of liberals give an A or B.
The impact of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has caused Americans to be more dependent on foreign powers for energy while spiking gas prices. Increasing about a dollar throughout Biden’s first year, gas prices have risen about an additional 70 cents since the invasion began. Many consumers are now paying record-high gas prices over 2008’s record highs.
As a result, Biden has reportedly attempted to increase oil production among countries that do not share American principles, such as Venezuela and Saudi Arabia. Biden is also looking to lift sanctions on Iran that could release the nation’s oil supply.
Biden has refused to take responsibility for the high gas prices. For instance, what was once called “transitory” inflation is now “Putin’s price hike.” Before that shift, CNN labeled inflation “good,” which the Washington Post quickly reframed as “corporate greed.”
The poll’s margin of error is 2.8 percentage points.

oh Wednesday, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) reacted to Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell saying inflation was going on in the United States prior to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s aggression toward Ukraine.
McCarthy, on Fox News Channel’s “The Faulkner Focus,” argued inflation “continues to get worse because of the Democratic policy” in which “they attacked” energy independence.
“It continues to get worse because of the Democratic policy. You had the Fed chair just now admit it is not about Putin. It started when the Democrats had one-party rule in Washington,” McCarthy emphasized. “The first thing they did was spend $2 trillion. They … had the government pay people not to work, raising the price of what it costs for small businesses to survive. Then you watched their action about crime and others building within the streets. You watched what they did when we were energy independent. They attacked. You know, the strength of the country is not just your military — it is whether you have an economy that’s strong. And going after energy actually made us weaker in the process around the world but added to inflation because the thing people don’t quite understand — oil doesn’t just go into your car. It goes into your clothing, into the purchasing of your phone, it goes into the print on a box. So, it raises the prices on everyone.”
“It is every single day the price goes up while these Democrats are in power,” he concluded.
Tom Malinowski Sidesteps His Self-Imposed Corporate PAC Ban
NJ Dem takes tens of thousands from business groups, corporate lobbying firms

In a September 2020 TV ad, Rep. Tom Malinowski said he doesn't "take corporate PAC money, so they don't own" him. In the following months, the New Jersey Democrat quietly accepted tens of thousands of dollars from business interest groups and corporate lobbying giants.
During his 2020 congressional run, Malinowski often touted his "no-corporate PAC pledge," arguing that the self-imposed ban allows him to "make decisions solely based on" what he thinks is right for his constituents. In the last 18 months, however, Malinowski has accepted nearly $43,000 from a multitude of business interest groups, corporate lobbying firms, and individual corporate lobbyists, federal campaign finance disclosures reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon show.
House and Senate Democrats use loopholes to accept campaign cash from corporate-funded groups while swearing off corporate money—most take money from congressional leadership committees that are bankrolled by corporations. While this is true of Malinowski, who has accepted at least $200,000 from leadership PACs since September 2020, the New Jersey Democrat has taken the custom a step further by also accepting contributions from business interest groups and corporate lobbying firms. In doing so, Malinowski has taken thousands from groups that attempt to sway Congress in favor of their business interests, a practice the Democrat claims to have sworn off.
Since October 2020, for example, Malinowski has accepted more than $10,000 from lobbying groups such as Winning Strategies Washington and Nelson Mullins. The firms have represented an array of top corporations, including BP, Google, and Comcast. In addition, Malinowski since September 2020 has taken more than $22,000 from business and professional interest groups such as the American Council of Engineering Companies and National Confectioners Association, which represents candy manufacturers and spent nearly $500,000 lobbying the federal government in 2021.
Malinowski's willingness to take campaign cash from these special interest sources contradicts his claim that he is not bound to corporate donors. In September 2020, Malinowski dismissed Republicans who criticized his acceptance of corporate cash through leadership committees, contending that because he did not take the money directly from a corporation, he has no reason to feel "indebted" to the original source of the funds. But Malinowski has not addressed his lucrative relationship with business interest groups, and his campaign did not return a request for comment.
In addition to Malinowski's decision to accept contributions from business groups and corporate lobbying firms, the Democrat has also taken thousands of dollars from individual corporate lobbyists—a move that has landed him in hot water. In February 2021, Malinowski accepted nearly $6,000 from former Democratic state lawmaker Vincent Roberti. Roberti runs a firm that has earned millions of dollars lobbying for Nord Stream 2, the pipeline that would transport national gas from Russia to Germany. Roberti's Malinowski campaign contribution came just months before the Biden administration waived sanctions on the controversial project.
Malinowski entered Congress in 2019 after he defeated then-Republican incumbent Leonard Lance by 5 points. Malinowski's short congressional term, however, has already been mired in controversy. During his first two years as a congressman, Malinowski failed to disclose dozens of stock trades worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, a violation of the STOCK Act, which requires members of Congress to report large financial transactions within 30 days. A subsequent Office of Congressional Ethics probe found "substantial reason to believe" Malinowski broke federal law.
The embattled Democrat is considered a top Republican target in 2022 and will face a difficult reelection bid this November. Malinowski is expected to face former New Jersey Senate minority leader Tom Kean (R.), who is again challenging the Democrat after a 1-point loss in 2020.

One of President Joe Biden's top donors and "closest friends" has scored millions of dollars in federal contracts and a prestigious job in the White House, according to a Washington Free Beacon review of government records.
Biden in September of last year placed close confidant Joe Kiani, the founder and CEO of the medical technology company Masimo Corporation, on the influential President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. Kiani's company, which manufactures various medical devices, has received almost $3 million in federal government contracts since Biden took office in 2021. Its contracts include funding from the Department of Defense and Department of Health and Human Services .
The council, according to its website , "advises the president on matters involving science, technology, education, and innovation policy" and "provides the president with scientific and technical information that is needed to inform public policy."
The new post and contracts were awarded just a few years after Kiani emerged as one of Biden's biggest benefactors. In 2017, the Masimo Foundation donated at least $1 million to the Biden Foundation, on top of up to $500,000 from Kiani and his wife, according to donations that were disclosed by the foundation. During the 2020 campaign, Kiani bundled more than $1 million for Biden and hosted in-person and virtual fundraisers for him. Kiani also gave $750,000 to the pro-Biden super PAC Unite the Country, and his foundation gave another $1 million for Biden's inaugural committee.
The Biden-Kiani relationship dates back years, and the president has not attempted to shield the friendship. At a 2018 conference sponsored by an organization Kiani funds, Biden referred to the businessman as "one of my closest friends." In 2015, then-vice president Biden delivered the keynote address at Kiani's Patient Safety, Science, and Technology Summit.
Kiani's post has raised the eyebrows of one member of the House Oversight Committee, who told the Free Beacon he plans to look into the potential "cronyism."
"Cronyism in any form is wrong," said Rep. Ralph Norman (R., S.C.), who serves on the House Oversight Committee. "For someone who has spent almost 40 years in Washington, you'd think President Biden of all people would know that.
"Yet here we are, another campaign donor receiving a post in the administration, this time on the prestigious President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. It's important to get to the bottom of this, and I'm happy to help lead that charge."
The post and lucrative contracts to Kiani's company after his massive donations to the president further undermine claims from the Biden administration that it has the highest ethical standards of any White House in history.
Both the Obama and Trump administrations awarded Masimo with contracts totaling in the millions, according to government spending disclosures . Masimo, however, is currently on track to surpass the amount of contracts under previous administrations.
Neither the White House nor Masimo responded to a request for comment.
Employees at Masimo Corporation donated thousands to Biden's American Possibilities PAC, making the company one of the largest backers of the super PAC.
Other members of the Biden family have fostered relationships with Kiani as well. Biden's son-in-law, Howard Krein, is the chief medical officer of Startup Health, a company that was launched with significant investment from Kiani's Masimo Corporation, which was part of a nearly $20 million funding round in 2018. During Biden’s presidential campaign, Krein served as an informal adviser to his campaign while working at the Masimo-invested Startup Health, which was simultaneously running "a special initiative to invest in health care startups that offer solutions to the pandemic," according to Politico . Biden's son Hunter and brother Frank have both leveraged their ties to the president as part of their business pitches .
Since Kiani joined the Biden administration, his foundation, the Masimo Foundation for Ethics, Innovation, and Competition in Healthcare, has funded coverage in USA Today about health and patient safety. Among the content paid for by Kiani's foundation is a recent story about the administration's at-home COVID test kit roll out. USA Today says the Masimo Foundation has no editorial input on news coverage. Its most recent public tax forms show over $350,000 of donations to USA Today to expand the outlet's "capacity to produce unique, groundbreaking journalism aimed at improving patient safety and outcomes."
The Biden administration has faced congressional scrutiny for similar conflicts of interest. Most prominently, Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm owned millions of dollars of stock in Proterra, an electric vehicle battery manufacturer, while she was working on America's electric vehicle battery supply chain. Granholm ultimately sold her shares to an undisclosed buyer for a profit of $1.6 million.

South Bend Cronyism: Top Donors Won Big Under Mayor Pete Biden transportation secretary awarded campaign donors tens of millions in infrastructure contracts

Top donors to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg won big money contracts from South Bend, Ind., when Buttigieg was mayor of the city, according to a Daily Mail report.
Buttigieg's mayoral campaign committees received more than $250,000 from 2011 to 2019 from donors who were awarded a total of $33 million in infrastructure contracts from the city, the report found. Buttigieg was mayor of South Bend from 2012 until 2020, when he ran a failed campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Executives for one Indiana engineering firm, American Structurepoint, gave $35,850 to the mayor's campaigns. Over the course of several years, the company received $790,177 in city contracts from South Bend.
In 2012, two months after meeting with representatives of American Structurepoint, Buttigieg appointed a former executive of the firm to lead South Bend's Department of Public Works. In the following years, the department has directed hundreds of thousands of dollars to the company.
In two cases, according to the Daily Mail , Buttigieg received donations from companies the same day they got contracts from the city.
Other contractors gifted Buttigieg hundreds of dollars' worth of alcohol, cigars, and golf trips.
While Buttigieg was mayor, 23 companies that
donated to him were awarded city contracts.
Government watchdogs told the Daily Mail they were alarmed by South Bend's record of awarding companies who supported the mayor.
"I'm stunned if it is true that South Bend Indiana doesn't have laws on the books that prohibit this," Scott Greytak of Transparency International told the outlet. "At the federal level, this would be entirely illegal. A federal contractor cannot make a contribution to a candidate, because of the obvious conflict of interest."
Others expressed concern that Buttigieg's record as mayor indicates he might reward supporters through his discretionary budget control as head of the Transportation Department.

Forbes published a financial profile piece on Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and explained how the former South Bend, Indiana, mayor “cashed in on his candidacy” for president in 2020.
The magazine said Buttigieg would have to give up his mayoral job, and therefore income.
“We could make it work, as long as we were very conservative,” his husband Chasten wrote in his book, the publication noted. “So it was decided: We were doing it.”

Smart move. Instead of costing Buttigieg money, the presidential run helped him earn gobs of it. Round-the-clock cable appearances made him famous, and fame led to money. Eventually, social media helped make Chasten a star too, which led to even more money. Over the course of the next two years, the Buttigiegs went from earning the sort of modest salaries you might expect from a middle-school teacher and a small-city mayor to hauling in more than $1 million, according to our calculations.
In the leadup to the election, they pumped out three books — one by Pete at the start of the race, another by Chasten toward the end, and a third by Pete in the closing days. Those works sold more than 150,000 copies, according to NPD BookScan, an industry data service. Then there were the university gigs. Chasten got one at Harvard, and after dropping out of the race, Pete started one at Notre Dame, which provided $37,000 in six months. Pete also became a podcast host with iHeartMedia, securing a minimum guaranteed payment of $150,000. At the close of 2020, he nabbed a cabinet nomination in the Biden administration, which led to a salary increase. As transportation secretary, he now earns more than $200,000 a year. Settled in D.C., he sold his house in South Bend three months ago for $310,000, more than double his initial investment.

Buttigieg had a favorable book deal that earned him escalating royalties. As Forbes put it, “The book supported the campaign, and the campaign supported the book — allowing Mayor Pete to make money as his candidacy took off.”
Last week, the Atlantic magazine published a profile piece on Buttigieg and laid out his potential path to the presidency that would involve an early exit for President Joe Biden and effectively a snubbing of Vice President Kamala Harris.
“Something like: He takes an inherently snoozer job as a low-ranking Cabinet official, spends a few years quietly kissing up to mostly forgettable members of Congress with talk about railroads and broadband, and going on TV to defend the administration,” reporter Edward-Isaac Dovere wrote.
“Along the way, he counts on Biden not to run again and Kamala Harris not to emerge as Biden’s natural heir,” he continued. “If everything comes together perfectly, the former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, becomes the first president since Herbert Hoover to have come out of the Cabinet.”
For the time being, Dovere noted, “Buttigieg is the public point man for the infrastructure bill,” which allows him to appear on news programs regularly.
In his role pitching the infrastructure plan, Buttigieg promotes “his own brand in the process,” Yahoo News reported .
“He gets to be Build Back Better,” an anonymous former presidential campaign staffer told Yahoo, referring to Biden’s campaign slogan.
“He gets blank checks. He can tie himself to feel-good projects coming out of the administration,” the person said.
Those “feel-good projects” afford Buttigieg the opportunity to travel the country and introduce himself “to prospective voters, and tout those” taxpayer-funded projects.

The tragic irony of a National Guardsman’s death in the Rio Grande
Yesterday, I wrote about the death of a Texas National Guardsman , who drowned in the Rio Grande while rescuing people who were in the act of entering the United States illegally. In the same post, I pointed out that illegal aliens impose an incredibly heavy burden on America, whether we’re talking about economic costs or the fallout from criminal conduct. In this case, it turns out that this young American man sacrificed his life for...wait for it...people importing deadly, illegal drugs into America.

Two illegal migrants who a now-missing Texas National Guard soldier tried to save from a river were involved in “illicit transnational narcotics trafficking,” officials said Saturday as the search for the missing service member resumed.
The soldier went missing on Friday after entering a river in Eagle Pass to help two migrants who officials say “appeared to be drowning as they illegally crossed the river from Mexico to the United States.”
In a statement, the Texas Military Dept. said that initial reports from Texas Rangers “have determined that the two migrants were involved in illicit transnational narcotics trafficking.” They are both in Customs and Border Protection (CBP) custody.
So, to recap: These two people were trying to enter America while carrying with them “illicit transnational narcotics,” a term that I’m pretty certain translates to fentanyl. Let’s talk about fentanyl for a moment:
According to the National Institute of Drug Abuse, fentanyl is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine.
So, how many people did Fentanyl kill between 2020 and 2021?
Fentanyl overdoses have surged to the leading cause of death for adults between the ages of 18 and 45, according to an analysis of U.S. government data.
Between 2020 and 2021, nearly 79,000 people between 18 and 45 years old — 37,208 in 2020 and 41,587 in 2021 — died of fentanyl overdoses, the data analysis from opioid awareness organization Families Against Fentanyl shows.
What this means is that this unnamed but incredibly brave National Guardsman sacrificed his life for two people complicit in murder—and that’s true whether they’ve already caused American deaths in the past or will cause American deaths in the future. That’s appalling, disgusting...and all the fault of the Democrats.

In my previous post on the subject, I suggested that Americans needed to take a hard look at the benefits and burdens of Biden’s open border policies. All the benefits flow to the illegal aliens and all the burdens land on Americans. The fact that illegal aliens receive so many benefits means they have incentives to brave a potentially dangerous journey. This is especially true because they know that Americans will die to save them.
I’m going to say something very cruel but, I believe, necessary: It’s time for Americans to stop saving illegal aliens. No more Rio Grande rescues. No more searching through the border desert to find stragglers. No more American lives lost aiding criminal activity that hurts America and Americans.
The burdens need to shift to the wannabe illegal aliens to create a disincentive for their criminal conduct. These are not people fleeing a holocaust. These are economic migrants who do not want to wait their turn to immigrate legally to America. Instead, they want the instant gratification of the benefits Americans are forced to pay for, even as the illegal aliens drain American wallets and put American lives at risk.

SAN DIEGO, California — President Joe Biden’s top Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials are privately admitting that up to 6,000 foreign nationals are in Tijuana, Mexico, waiting to rush the United States-Mexico border when the president ends the Title 42 public health authority on May 23.
Sources close to Breitbart News said DHS officials noted that 3,000 to 6,000 foreign nationals are in shelters in Tijuana — the Mexican city just across the southern border from San Diego, California — waiting for Biden’s scheduled end to Title 42.
“We are preparing for the worst case scenario,” an official said during a private meeting with Republican lawmakers.
Weeks ago, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced that the Biden administration would end Title 42 on May 23. The authority has allowed federal immigration officials over the last two years to quickly return illegal aliens to their native countries after arriving at the border.
Another source close to Breitbart News said “the number of people coming across is out of control,” and suggested that in the southern California sectors, agents will be overrun with the amount of illegal immigration expected on May 23 and afterward.
Without Title 42, Biden officials admit that they expect up to half a million border crossers and illegal aliens — the equivalent of Atlanta, Georgia’s, resident population — to arrive at the border every month.
Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) recently told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview that he expects 30,000 border crossers and illegal aliens every day at the border.
The Biden administration’s plan for ending Title 42, which Breitbart News reported and published , details “broadscale release mechanisms” that transform the border into a mere checkpoint for foreign nationals arriving every day.
Under the plan, Biden seeks to cut deportations for border crossers and illegal aliens, instead shifting to mechanisms like parole, Notices to Appear (NTAs), and an Alternatives to Detention (ATD) program — all of which ensure the mass release of foreign nationals into the U.S. interior.

Oftentimes, taxpayer-funded non-governmental organizations (NGOs) help the administration bus and fly border crossers and illegal aliens into American communities.
From January 2021 to February 2022, Biden released more than 756,000 border crossers and illegal aliens into the U.S. interior. In March 2022, Biden released more than 80,000 border crossers and illegal aliens into the U.S. interior — a population larger than his hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Texas Border Communities Brace for Massive Migrant Surge as Title 42 Ending Nears U.S. Border Patrol/Del Rio Sector 6:19
Communities along the Texas border with Mexico are bracing for a massive surge of migrants that are expected to arrive after the Biden administration implements the end of Title 42 removals. Local and county officials claim they will need the federal government to step up and help as the number of migrants arriving in their cities is expected to grow exponentially.
“If people think 2021 was a crisis … when Title 42 is repealed, it will be a disaster across the whole border,” said Valverde County Sheriff Joe Frank Martinez during an interview with Breitbart Texas. Martinez is one of several border area officials who spoke on and off the record with Breitbart Texas and expressed concerns and are asking the federal government to step up and deal with the issue.
On May 23, the Biden administration is expected to end Title 42 enforcement, a policy that allowed immigration officials to expel certain groups of asylum seekers due to the spread of COVID-19. As Breitbart Texas reported, officials within the Department of Homeland Security forecasted an exponential increase in migrants reaching the border once Title 42 is removed .
“We are going to be overwhelmed,” McAllen Mayor Javier Villalobos told Breitbart Texas. The city has been at the forefront of the immigration crisis since a large number of migrants seeking asylum who are detained by U.S. Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley are released into that community. From the border city, the migrants then board buses or planes to other parts of the country. Villalobos has been sounding the alarm and even sent a letter to U.S. President Joe Biden asking him to reconsider ending Title 42 enforcement , Breitbart Texas reported.
“A big concern is that the government has given almost two months’ notice that this policy is going to end,” Villalobos added. The message getting across is that the United States will have an open-door policy, he said.
In the case of McAllen, non-governmental organizations in the downtown area provide the migrants with food and clothing as they wait for their buses to leave. The issue was manageable when federal authorities would release around 1,200 a day into McAllen, Villalobos said.
“My concern is public safety,” the mayor explained. “When you release too many and the (NGOs) can’t take them anymore, they are going to be out on the streets. You will have women and children in the streets and then you will also have groups of men … it’s going to be chaotic.”
In Brooks County, Texas, located about 60 miles north of McAllen, Sheriff Benny Martinez expects the flood of migrants to add to the already existing level of chaos in his county.
“We have already seen nearly 30 deaths this year in our county,” Sheriff Martinez reported. “On top of that, we experience dangerous pursuits on a near-daily basis as the human smugglers attempt to evade arrest.”
“Ending Title 42 will increase the border crossings which will lead to more people attempting to circumvent the Border Patrol checkpoint in our county,” the sheriff explained. “This will mean more deaths as Border Patrol agents will be occupied along the border and have fewer resources in our county.”
Further west in the city of Eagle Pass, Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber is expecting a similar situation to the one expressed by the sheriffs above. However, unlike Villalobos, both Schmerber and Joe Frank Martinez are not so much concerned with migrants once they are released, but with migrants as soon as they cross the Rio Grande. Currently, Maverick County has become one of the busiest crossing points used by human smugglers to bring migrants into the country.
“U.S. Border Patrol can’t keep up,” Schmerber said. “Just last week I was driving to Quemado (a nearby city) and on the side of the highway I encountered 155 people walking looking for (USBP) … we are still seeing very high numbers.”
Schmerber said Texas Department of Public Safety troopers and National Guardsmen have provided manpower to assist an overwhelmed Border Patrol and his deputies. Thanks to state grants, Schmerber has been able to get ten additional deputies for the county. However, the size of the county, the limited manpower, and their regular law enforcement duties all would be put to the test with an expanding crisis.
Last year, Valverde County dealt with a major crisis as more than 14,000 Haitian migrants camped under the international bridge in Del Rio. Sheriff Joe Frank Martinez has been preparing his deputies in case a similar scenario presents itself. The sheriff drafted a plan to move personnel, redirect patrols, transport, and court security deputies to assist USBP should the need arise. “I’ve got limited funding available from the State’s Operation Lone Star and also some overtime funding under Operation Stone Garden for the initial response if required. I hope it doesn’t come to that.” He said, “It’s not looking good though.”

SAN DIEGO, California — President Joe Biden’s top Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials intervened at the last minute to stop a group of Republican lawmakers from viewing the United States-Mexico border in the evening, when border crossers use holes in the unfinished border wall to cross illegally into the U.S.
A delegation of Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee, including Reps. Darrell Issa (CA), Tom McClintock (CA), Scott Fitzgerald (WI), Cliff Bentz (OR), and Victoria Spartz (IN), were set for a trip to view the southern border in the evening last week when Biden’s DHS officials stepped in to block the visit.
“The Biden White House canceled our night trip to the border because they didn’t want my Republican colleagues to see the flood of migrants, drugs, and trafficked children that pass through the gaps in the border wall that this administration refuses to close,” Issa told Breitbart News in an exclusive statement.
The night visit was crucial for the Republican delegation because much of the illegal immigration on the California-Mexico border occurs in the evening. Large holes in the unfinished border wall, captured in exclusive footage by Breitbart News, show ideal paths for border crossers to cross illegally into the U.S., specifically in the evening hours.
“They’re trying to control the narrative,” a source told Breitbart News.

The following day, when the Republican delegation toured the border with DHS officials, the agency made a note to clear detention space beforehand.
For instance, at the DHS’s Imperial Beach station, only about 80 to 85 border crossers were in detention when the delegation arrived. The evening before, the station had more than 200 border crossers in detention.
“They literally cleared out before the congressmen arrived,” a source told Breitbart News.
On their tour, the Republican delegation was taken to quiet locations across the San Diego, California, sectors where border crossings were not taking place and where no apprehensions were occurring.
As Breitbart News has reported, more than 221,000 border crossers were apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border last month. About 80,116 were released into the U.S. interior via parole or other means. Put another way, for every 11 border crossers apprehended, about four are released into American communities.
