(CNSNews.com) - Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer introduced in the Senate on Thursday the bill that had passed the House that day to make the District of Columbia a state that—like all other states—would send to members to the Senate.

“This is about democracy,” Schumer said in a tweet. “It’s about self-government. It’s about voting rights.

“I was proud to re-introduce this bill in the Senate, and we are working to make #DCStatehood a reality,” he said.

The bill—H.R. 51—passed the House on Thursday by a vote of 216 to 208. No Democrat voted against it. No Republican voted for it.

“This bill provides for admission into the United States of the state of Washington, Douglass Commonwealth, composed of most of the territory of the District of Columbia,” says the official summary of the bill. “The commonwealth shall be admitted to the Union on an equal footing with the other states.

“The Mayor of the District of Columbia shall issue a proclamation for the first elections to Congress of two Senators and one Representative of the commonwealth,” it says.

Here is the full text of the summary:

"Washington, D.C. Admission Act

"This bill provides for admission into the United States of the state of Washington, Douglass Commonwealth, composed of most of the territory of the District of Columbia. The commonwealth shall be admitted to the Union on an equal footing with the other states.

"The Mayor of the District of Columbia shall issue a proclamation for the first elections to Congress of two Senators and one Representative of the commonwealth.

"The bill applies current District laws to the commonwealth and continues pending judicial proceedings.

"The commonwealth (1) shall consist of all District territory, with specified exclusions for federal buildings and monuments, including the principal federal monuments, the White House, the Capitol Building, the U.S. Supreme Court Building, and the federal executive, legislative, and judicial office buildings located adjacent to the Mall and the Capitol Building; and (2) may not impose taxes on federal property except as Congress permits.

"District territory excluded from the commonwealth shall be known as the Capital and shall be the seat of the federal government. The bill maintains the federal government's authority over military lands and specified other property.

"The bill provides for expedited consideration of a joint resolution repealing the Twenty-third Amendment to the Constitution, which provides for the appointment of electors of the President and Vice President.

"The bill continues certain federal authorities and responsibilities, including regarding employee benefits, agencies, courts, and college tuition assistance, until the commonwealth certifies that it is prepared to take over the authorities and responsibilities.

"The bill establishes the Statehood Transition Commission to advise the President, Congress, and District and commonwealth leaders on the transition."

Sanctuary NYC: Illegal Alien MS-13 Gang Members Charged with Hacking Young Mother to Death

Three illegal alien MS-13 gang members in the sanctuary state of New York have been charged with murdering a 31-year-old mother in a brutal attack.

MS-13 Gang members 20-year-old Rigel Yohairo, 22-year-old Allan Lopez, and 21-year-old Jose Sarmiento – all of whom are illegal aliens, Breitbart News has learned – were arrested and charged with murder, criminal possession of a weapon, concealment of a human corpse, and tampering with evidence this month in the death of Nazareth Tamer-Claure, the mother of an eight-year-old boy.

Rodolfo Lopez, a fourth suspect who is also an illegal alien MS-13 gang member, has been arrested and charged with concealment of a human corpse and tampering with evidence.

Last week, Queens County prosecutors say Yohairo, Lopez, and Sarmiento beat Tamer-Claure with baseball bats before hacking her to death with machetes in the neighborhood of Far Rockaway. Then, the MS-13 gang members wrapped up Tamer-Claure’s body and stuffed her in the trunk of a car before taking off for Long Island, New York, according to prosecutors.

Days before the alleged murder, Tamer-Claure obtained a protection order against her boyfriend, 28-year-old Anander Henriquez, also an illegal alien MS-13 Gang member. Tamer-Claure had reported Henriquez for choking her on April 9.

Months before, in January, Tamer-Claure was allegedly punched in the face multiple times by Henriquez before he hit her with a metal pipe. Henriquez pleaded guilty for the attack.

Police said they witnessed the MS-13 gang members stuffing Tamer-Claure’s body in the trunk of the car and began tailing the suspects as a result. Tamer-Claure’s body was discovered after police pulled the suspects over.

All five MS-13 gang members are in police custody. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency confirmed to Breitbart News that all five suspects have detainers placed on them, a request that New York officials turn them over to ICE agents should they be released at any time.

New York, though, has one of the most expansive sanctuary state policies, whereby local law enforcement agencies are prohibited from cooperating with ICE and thus illegal aliens with pending charges against them are often released from police custody instead of being arrested and deported.

Last month, an illegal alien MS-13 gang member in Long Island was arrested for his involvement in the murder of a 19-year-old, Breitbart News reported. The illegal alien had previously been convicted of second-degree murder.

Senate Republicans, Democrats Meet to Discuss Amnesty for Illegal Aliens

A group of Senate Republicans and Democrats met privately this week to discuss striking a deal on immigration – mainly on providing amnesty to potentially millions of illegal aliens enrolled and eligible for former President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

Sens. John Cornyn (R-TX) and Dick Durbin (D-IL) led a meeting with 12 other Senate Republicans and Democrats to explore the possibility of passing an amnesty to give legal status to 3.5 million enrolled and eligible DACA illegal aliens.

Other Senators in attendance included Chris Coons (D-DE), Susan Collins (R-ME), Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Michael Bennet (D-CO), Mike Rounds (R-SD), Alex Padilla (D-CA), Ben Ray Lujan (D-NM), Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ).

In a statement to Axios, Cornyn suggested there is “pretty much consensus” to give amnesty to DACA illegal aliens, even as illegal immigration has skyrocketed at the United States-Mexico border to decade-highs.

“But I think if we did something that is pretty much consensus, like DACA, then that would be confidence-building, and then we’d kind of move on to the next,” Cornyn said.

In an interview with PunchBowl News, sponsored by pro-migration tech lobbying group FWD.us, which was founded by Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Durbin also suggested that there is a “growing consensus” among Senate Republicans and Democrats on DACA amnesty.

“I believe there is a growing consensus that DACA, the DREAM Act, some version of that, is ready for passage,” Durbin said. “I have not whipped it and I haven’t gone to the Republican side but many Republicans have come up to me and said, ‘We think it’s time.’ And that was repeated at last night’s meeting.”

Durbin said Senate Democrats are looking to gather Republican support for a DACA amnesty by throwing in border security provisions, though he said a border wall would not be part of any such plan.

The amnesty discussions come as illegal immigration has overwhelmed the southern border for months, with no end in sight. In March, federal immigration officials apprehended nearly 170,000 border crossers, including more than 18,600 UACs, nearly 53,000 family units, and nearly 97,000 single adults.

Analysis conducted this month predicts that 1.2 million border crossers will be apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border this year, not including those illegal aliens who successfully crossed into the country. This would be a level of illegal immigration not seen since the Great Recession.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden’s administration is facilitating the mass catch and release of border crossers into the U.S. interior and preventing about 9-in-10 deportations with “sanctuary country” orders that have resulted in a 70 percent drop in the number of criminal illegal aliens in federal custody and an 80 percent reduction in arrests of illegal aliens.

Since late January, totals provided to Breitbart News reveal that nearly 42,000 border crossers have been released into the U.S. by the Biden administration. This is a population four times that of Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

A DACA amnesty would put more U.S. citizen children of illegal aliens — commonly referred to as “anchor babies” — on federal welfare, as Breitbart News reported, while American taxpayers would be left potentially with a $26 billion bill.

Additionally, about one-in-five DACA illegal aliens, after an amnesty, would end up on food stamps, while at least one-in-seven would go on Medicaid.

Since DACA’s inception, more than 2,100 recipients of the program have been kicked off because they were found to either be criminals or gang members.

Del Rio Border Sector Chief: High-Speed Pursuits up 117%, Sex Offender Arrests up ‘over 2,000%’

1:46

On Thursday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Your World,” U.S. Border Patrol Del Rio Chief Patrol Agent Austin Skero said that individuals from 67 different countries have been caught at the border, high-speed pursuits through neighboring counties have increased by 117% so far this year, and the number of sex offenders “arrested within these groups of individuals is up significantly, over 2,000%.”

Skero said, “I can tell you that, in March, we — the Border Patrol, southwest border-wide, apprehended over 172,000 people. So, we do have a significant influx into the country here in the Del Rio Sector. Our apprehensions are up over 340% so far this fiscal year. The number of single adults we’re seeing are up over 400%, family units are up over 170%, and our unaccompanied children are up over 240%. We’ve caught folks from 67 different countries this year.”

He added, “Our numbers are actually increasing. In the past 30 days alone, we’ve intercepted over 340 alien smuggling cases. … We’ve seen an increase in high-speed pursuits through our neighboring counties, through our local county here, Val Verde County. Those pursuits are up 117% so far this year. The number of sex offenders that we have arrested within these groups of individuals is up significantly, over 2,000%.”

EXCLUSIVE: Mexican Immigration Office Turned Me Over to a Cartel, Says Migrant

Nuevo Laredo (2)
Breitbart Texas / Cartel Chronicles
3:52

Mexican federal immigration agents turned a group of migrants over to one of the most violent cartels as part of a kidnapping and ransom scheme, a Honduran woman shared with Breitbart Texas.

The ordeal took place in early March in the Mexican border city of Nuevo Laredo after “Teresa” and a dozen other Central Americans were deported by U.S. authorities to agents with Mexico’s National Immigration Institute. In a matter of hours, Teresa found herself turned over to the Cartel Del Noreste faction of Los Zetas. The cartel has absolute control over Nuevo Laredo. CDN-Los Zetas even has convoys of gunmen in armored SUVs patrolling the city streets.

Teresa agreed to be interviewed by Breitbart Texas in an undisclosed location before she took a bus back to Honduras, fearing another encounter with Mexican INM officials.

“A friend had warned me that if I was taken to [Nuevo] Laredo, that I would end up with those people,” Teresa said in Spanish, refusing to refer to the Zetas by name. As a precaution, she hid her cell phone in her clothing so she could call for help if needed during the abduction.

One night, cartel members arrived at the INM facility so officials could turn them over for transit to a large warehouse. There, gunmen threatened Teresa and told her to call her relatives in the U.S. for a ransom. Much to her surprise, the CDN gunmen already had all the information she provided Mexican immigration authorities. Unbeknownst to the CDN, Teresa was able to record the events with her hidden phone.

The gunmen threatened they would subject her to severe abuse and claimed she was lucky to not already be killed. The woman’s relatives were able to wire $2,800 USD in small payments that night. Once the gunmen confirmed the payments, they took the woman to downtown Nuevo Laredo, where they released her.

Teresa approached Mexican federal and state authorities to report the incident and share her recording. While officials claimed they would investigate the matter, Teresa did not file a criminal complaint because she could not be placed in a witness protection program.

“I never thought it would be this bad,” Teresa said in Spanish. “As bad as things are at home, with what I went through here and how they won’t do anything about it … it’s much worse here.”

Breitbart Texas went to the location near downtown Nuevo Laredo where the gunmen released Teresa and asked the owner of a nearby business for access to the security footage, however, the owner claimed to fear for his life and refused. The owner said the CDN-Los Zetas have absolute control of the city and questions about their activities put everyone at risk.

Texas Congressman Unveils Bill to Designate Certain Mexican Cartels as Terrorist Organizations

Los Zetas Threat
Breitbart Texas / Cartel Chronicles

Texas Congressman Chip Roy (R) is expected to file a bill that would designate the most violent cartels in Mexico as foreign terrorist organizations. The bill comes amid Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s similar requests for the designations.

The bill would focus on the Cartel Del Noreste faction of Los Zetas and the Metros faction of the Gulf Cartel; the two main criminal organizations linked to the current immigration surge at the Texas border. In 2019 Roy also called for a similar measure asking the U.S. Department of State to designate certain cartels. The changes would allow for more asset freezes and apply diplomatic pressure on Mexico City to crack down on the organizations.

According to a series of exclusive interviews with Roy during a series of border trips, the Gulf Cartel and the CDN faction of Los Zetas have profited from the current border crisis while kidnapping, extorting. and abusing migrants.

Both the Zetas and the Gulf Cartel are linked to mass graves and clandestine incineration sites in Mexico.

EXCLUSIVE: 600 Venezuelans Cross into West Texas Border Town in Six Days

Venezuelans

DEL RIO, Texas — A law enforcement source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, reported the illegal entry of more than 200 Venezuelan nationals south of town early Wednesday morning. The large group, consisting mostly of family units, was quickly apprehended by the Border Patrol and is in transit to nearby stations for processing.

Since Friday, at least 600 Venezuelan nationals have entered through the small West Texas town. Most will be summarily released into the community to travel to their intended final destinations in the United States.

On Friday, Border Patrol apprehended 167 Venezuelans in the same area. On Sunday, 112 made entry. On Monday, 106 arrived in the same area.

Del Rio, like other cities across the southern border, has seen its share of the increase in migrant traffic. A soft-sided facility was recently opened within the Del Rio Border Patrol Sector to deal with the influx. Del Rio has dealt with large groups of illegal migrants from outside the usual Central American countries normally encountered throughout other border areas.

Because of the relative safety of Ciudad Acuna, directly across from Del Rio, the area is a draw for large groups of Haitians, Cubans, and Central Africans. Cartel violence has slowed in recent years when compared to other cities in Mexico along the border.

Last month, the Biden Administration granted Temporary Protected Status for Venezuelan nationals for 18 months. The designation applies to those residing in the United States since March 8, 2021. The designation suspends any attempts at removal for the period. Generally, these deadlines are extended–sometimes for years on end. Some critics argue this is a pull factor, encouraging illegal immigration from designated countries.

According to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, “The living conditions in Venezuela reveal a country in turmoil, unable to protect its own citizens, it is in times of extraordinary and temporary circumstances like these that the United States steps forward to support eligible Venezuelan nationals already present here, while their home country seeks to right itself out of the current crises.”

This group will more than likely be released into the United States to pursue asylum claims even though they would not qualify for the TPS designation. The source reports many of the Venezuelans interviewed during the week directly attributed the suspension of deportations by the Biden Administration as the impetus for their entry into the United States.

Bloomberg: ‘On Immigration, George W. Bush Is a Portrait of Failure’

Former President George W. Bush is pointlessly trying to revive the establishment’s amnesty and migration-boosting deals that repeatedly have failed to overcome public opposition, says an op-ed published Tuesday in Bloomberg news.

Bush’s proposed combination of amnesty, increased migration, more visa workers, and this-time-we-really-really-mean-it border security will not work because voters “do not have confidence that the government will enforce the laws any more avidly or effectively in the future than they have done in the past,” writes Ramesh Ponnuru, a pro-migration conservative at National Review.

The article is headlined, “On Immigration, George W. Bush Is a Portrait of Failure.”

Ponnuru wrote Bush’s proposal is:

Essentially the same policy mix [that] failed to become law under a Republican president working with a Republican Congress (in 2006); a Republican president working with a Democratic Congress (in 2007); a Democratic president working with a Democratic Congress (in 2009-10, when such legislation wasn’t even taken up); and a Democratic president working with a divided Congress (in 2013).

On each occasion, legislation of the kind Bush likes had the support of many high-ranking politicians from both parties, business groups, religious leaders and editorial boards …

But Bush ignores the public’s reasonable concerns, Ponnuru added:

Why shouldn’t people on the bottom rungs of the economy, native-born Americans and immigrants alike, worry that an influx of newcomers will undermine their position? It’s not a question he feels compelled to address.

Nor does Bush explain why, if we need more high-skilled immigrants, we have to raise the total level of immigration instead of changing its composition. What’s in it for the people who are already here? The standard answer is that it makes us richer overall, although there is very little evidence it has more than a negligible effect.

Bush’s effort to shape the immigration debate is meeting with indifference or laughter from GOP staffers who saw Bush’s popularity crash to 33 percent in 2008 and saw Jeb Bush swept away by the felt tide of support for Donald Trump in 2016 and 2020. Breitbart News reported April 19:

Former President George W. Bush’s media tour promoting mass immigration to the United States is “laughably out of touch” with GOP voters and Americans at large, Republican insiders tell Breitbart News.

“Any Republican still taking their cues from George W. Bush or the neocons is laughably out of touch,” a Senate GOP aide said. “Calling for mass amnesty while lockdowns have forced millions of Americans out of work is unhinged. For many years, a wide variety of pollsters have shown deep and broad opposition to labor migration and the inflow of temporary foreign contract workers into jobs sought by young U.S. graduates. This opposition is multiracialcross-sexnon-racistclass-basedintra-Democraticrational, and is based on the decent solidarity that citizens of the American union of 50 states owe to each other.

The voter opposition to elite-backed economic migration coexists with support for legal immigrants and some sympathy for illegal migrants. But only a minority of Americans — mostly university-credentialled progressives — embrace the many skewed polls and articles pushing the 1950’s “Nation of Immigrants” corporate claim.

The deep public opposition to labor migration is built on the widespread recognition that migration moves money away from most Americans’ pocketbooks and families. It moves money from employees to employers, from families to investors, from young to old, from children to their parents, from homebuyers to real estate investors, from red states to blue states, and from the central states to the coastal states such as New York.

Bush has strongly supported the workplace replacement of Americans by “Any Willing [foreign] Worker” or by migrants who are tough enough to survive the Hunger Games migration through the desert. “Hell, if they’ll walk across Big Bend [of Texas], we want ‘em,” he told advisors while serving as governor of Texas, according to author Jan Reid.

Texas Border County Declares Disaster amid Migrant Surge – Seeks National Guard

Kinney County Judge Tully Shahan signed a local disaster declaration on Wednesday amid the recent migrant surge and its impact on the small community of Brackettville, Texas. In the declaration, Judge Shahan requests outside law enforcement assistance. It also asks Governor Greg Abbott to activate Texas National Guard.

Sheriff Brad Coe recently expressed his concern with the burden the migrant surge has placed on his small office. In addition to the countless hours patrolling local highways to reduce human trafficking, Coe also contends with property owner complaints of damages from migrants.

Sheriff Coe spoke to Breitbart Texas on the issue of the declaration and believes nearly 25 more counties will similarly act. The impetus for the signing of the declaration is the concern for public safety and health, partly due to the numerous high-speed pursuits and the accidents caused as a result.

In part, the declaration reads:

WHEREAS, the health, life, and property of the residents of Kinney County is under imminent threat of disaster from the human trafficking occurring on our border with Mexico. The ongoing border crisis has resulted in thousands of illegal aliens invading Kinney County and overwhelming our local, state, and federal law enforcement. This continual violation of our sovereignty and territorial integrity has resulted in residents of Kinney County being assaulted, threatened with violence, and robbed, while also sustaining vast amounts of property damage.

Mexico’s president is offering to curb Central American migration if President Joe Biden lets more Mexicans take U.S. jobs needed by Americans, according to Bloomberg news.

The site reported Mexico’s offer on Sunday:

“President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said that he would propose the plan to U.S. President Joe Biden at a summit on climate change on Thursday. He said the plan could create more than a million jobs and that participants in the reforestation program should be given a chance to obtain U.S. work visas and, eventually, even U.S. citizenship.

“This would allow us to order the flow of migration, which overflowed in March,” Lopez Obrador said in a video posted on Sunday from his ranch in the southern state of Chiapas.

[…]

“This is the way to strengthen productive commercial and economic activities of North America,” he said. “If we don’t unite in the Americas, Asia will out pace us.”

“As a fossil-fuel nationalist, AMLO [Obrador] has so little to offer on climate at this week’s Earth Day Summit,” said a tweet from José Díaz-Briseño, the editor of Mexico Today. “He opted to change topic & is now expected to present Biden with a migration ‘deal’ for Central Americans to gain access to US citizenship in exchange for tree planting.”

Many Mexicans use the H-2A and H-2B visa programs to take agriculture-sector and manual labor jobs in the United States, including the forestry jobs sought by young Americans in rural towns.

Many Mexicans also use the L-1 and TN visa programs to take white-collar jobs from American graduates, who are already losing careers to Fortune 500’s resident foreign workforce of roughly 1.5 million white-collar visa workers.

Mexico has been trying to extract some advantage from Biden’s political predicament.

Biden’s progressive base is pressuring him to adopt very unpopular mass migration into Americans’ jobs, housing, and schools. So far, Biden has zig-zagged between his open-borders base and the increasingly worried American public, while his deputies talk about possible diplomatic deals with countries in the region.

“If you look at the region from different points of view, but especially demographics and economics, it is clear the flows are going to be constant and growing in coming years,” said Mexico’s foreign secretary Marcelo Ebrard, according to an Associated Press April 8 report.

“The United States will have to allocate $2 billion per year for development in these countries, in Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador,” said Ebrard, who is involved in the slow-motion negotiations with the White House about the migration surge into the United States.

The $2 billion per year is roughly twice as much money as the $1 billion per year that President Joe Biden has suggested the U.S. should spend in Central America.

But Biden’s prior offer of $1 billion in aid per year is equivalent to just $30.22 per person in Central America — and is only a tiny slice of the economic damage caused by U.S. extraction-migration policies to ordinary Americans, Mexicans, and the people in Central America.

Also, there is little evidence the Biden will anger his base of left-wing programs to stop migration from Central America, Rob Law, the director of regulatory affairs and policy at the Center for Immigration Studies, told Breitbart News.

Many U.S. business groups and donors want to extract migrants from nearby countries because they stimulate the U.S. economy,  minimize wage gains by Americans, pump up consumer sales, and boost rental prices. For example, business groups are pushing a bill that would allow wealthy farm owners to import replacement labor via the H-2A visa program.

The 2021 inflow under Biden’s border welcome is likely to add roughly 1 million people — or about one migrant for every four Americans who turn 18 and begin looking for jobs.

Bush: Republicans Need to Be ‘More Respectful About the Immigrant’

2:39

Former President George W. Bush said Sunday during an interview with “CBS Evening News” anchor Norah O’Donnell that lawmakers need to be more respectful to immigrants.

In the interview that aired on “CBS Sunday Morning,” O’Donnell asked, “Do you want to be involved in the immigration discussion?”

Bush said, “Yeah, I do, in a way, in a way. I don’t want to be prescriptive. I don’t want to, you know, tell Congress how to do this or that. I do want to say to Congress, ‘Please put aside all the harsh rhetoric about immigration. Please put aside trying to score political points on either side.’ I hope I can help set a tone that is more respectful about the immigrant, which may lead to reform of the system.”

On May 15, 2006, President Bush gave an Oval Office address on immigration, in which he said, “We are a nation of laws, and we must enforce our laws. We are also a nation of immigrants, and we must uphold that tradition, which has strengthened our country in so many ways. These are not contradictory goals – America can be a lawful society and a welcoming society at the same time.”

O’Donnell said, “It’s been 15 years.”

Bush said, “I know it.”

O’Donnell said, “Still nothing’s been done.”

Bush said, “No, a lot of executive orders, but all that means is that Congress isn’t doing its job.”

O’Donnell said, “Is it one of the biggest disappointments of your presidency, not being – ”

Bush said, “Yes, it really is. I campaigned on immigration reform. I made it abundantly clear to voters this is something I intended to do.”

He added, “The problem with the immigration debate is that one can create a lot of fear: They’re comin’ after you. But it’s a nation that is willing to accept the refugee or the harmed or the frightened, that to me is a great nation. And we are a great nation, and we are a great nation.”

O’Donnell said, “The former president supports a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants if they pass a background check and pay back taxes. And if that were the proposal by President Biden. would you lobby your own party to support that?”

Bush said, “I am right now. Whether my own party listens to me or not’s another question.”

He added, “But it’s a part of hopefully creating a better understanding about the role of immigrants in our society. Mine is just a small voice in what I hope is a chorus of people saying, ‘Let’s see if we can’t solve the problem.'”

EXCLUSIVE: 400 Venezuelans Cross into West Texas Border Town in Four Days

Venezuelans

DEL RIO, Texas — A law enforcement source, speaking on a condition of anonymity, reported the illegal entry of 106 Venezuelan nationals early Monday. The group, consisting mostly of family units, was quickly apprehended by Border Patrol and transported to nearby stations for processing.

On Friday, Border Patrol agents apprehended 167 Venezuelans in the same area. On Sunday, an additional 112 made entry. The source indicates of the 107 migrants that entered illegally this morning, 106 are Venezuelan nationals and one is Colombian. Nearly 400 Venezuelans have entered in the last four days.

Exclusive Videos: 300 Migrants Cross Border into Texas

Unaccompanied children continue crossing the Mexican border into Texas as Health and Human Services struggles to accommodate the increased numbers by opening new Emergency Intake Sites. Breitbart Texas observed nearly 300 migrants illegally crossing the Rio Grande in Roma, Texas, on Wednesday night. The groups of migrants consisted of family units and dozens of unaccompanied children looking to surrender to the few awaiting Border Patrol agents near the edge of town.

Cartel-connected human smugglers faced no resistance from law enforcement during their crossing as Border Patrol agents struggled to keep up with the ever-increasing rate of crossings in the area. In an exclusive video, Breitbart Texas interviewed two unaccompanied children shortly after they crossed the border. The unaccompanied children traveled alone and said they did not know their mother’s whereabouts. They also claimed they did not know their father.

The teenage brother and sister, ages 13 and 15, claim to be traveling to San Francisco, California, to meet up with an uncle and a grandfather. The scene repeated itself throughout the night as children crossed the river alone or with family members. The children ranged in age from three months old to 17 years.

According to the latest statistics released by Health and Human Services, more than 22,000 unaccompanied children are currently in custody. They are being held at temporary Emergency Intake Sites, permanent shelters, or Border Patrol Stations. HHS estimates the daily cost to house the children is in excess of $6 million per day.

In March, Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents apprehended nearly 62,000 migrants (2,000 per day), according to the most recent reports from CBP. Those included 35,250 family units, 9,726 unaccompanied minors, and 16,992 single adults.

Border Patrol agents in the vicinity spoke of being overwhelmed by the volume of migrant crossings in such a short timeframe. Many of the migrants appeared nervous and tired from the journey to the United States. According to a few of the agents, who spoke on a condition of anonymity, this is almost a nightly occurrence.

Biden Admin Opens Another Migrant Child Detention Center in Texas

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced the opening of yet another Emergency Intake Sites (EIS) to move the ever-increasing numbers of unaccompanied migrant children out of Border Patrol custody. The move mirrors recent announcements by HHS to address the surge in unaccompanied children migrants flooding across the southern border in record numbers.

HHS opened the newest EIS facility at Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) in central Texas. The site, located on Lackland Air Force Base, will provide shelter for up to 372 boys aged 13-17 years old. It is the second EIS opened in San Antonio since March.

According to HHS, the EIS shelters provide the required standards of care for children. These include providing clean and comfortable sleeping quarters, meals, toiletries, laundry, and access to medical services. A COVID-19 health screening protocol for all detained children will be implemented to follow CDC guidelines for preventing and controlling communicable diseases. Services are provided by a combination of contractors, and federal staff – including teams from the HHS Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response and the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps.

The number of unaccompanied minors in United States custody rose over the last several months and shows no signs of waning. There are more than 22,000 unaccompanied children being held by HHS and CBP at Border Patrol Stations and HHS facilities across the country.

According to a law enforcement source within CBP, Border Patrol agents apprehended nearly 19,000 unaccompanied children in March — an all-time monthly record. HHS is scrambling to keep up with the record numbers by adding facilities and increasing capacity to detain the unaccompanied children at a pace not seen before.

In March alone, HHS opened nine facilities to deal with the influx. Although current laws dictate the children may only be in Customs and Border Protection (CBP) custody for 72 hours, many have been detained for over ten days according to law enforcement sources. A number of Border Patrol facilities are facing issues with overcrowding.

According to HHS, 394 unaccompanied children were discharged from custody to sponsors within the United States on Friday. The Border Patrol arrested 450 on the same day.  The daily 30-day average for UAC’s apprehended by the Border Patrol stands at 494 per day according to the data released Friday.

The potential detention capacity for unaccompanied children added by the Biden administration since March 1 alone is over 18,000 beds. HHS estimates the cost to house each unaccompanied child in an EIS is approximately $775 per day. The Biden administration thus far has not communicated a clear plan to reduce the influx of unaccompanied children.

Caldwell reserves special criticism for Ronald Reagan, who figured out a middle ground between traditional Americans and the newly entitled.  Reagan gave the white working class tax cuts, and he gave corporations tax cuts, cheap immigrant labor, and global trade incentives, while paying the civil rights/entitlement constituency off with debt:

Reaganomics was just a name for governing under a merciless contradiction that no one could admit was there: Civil rights was important enough that people could not be asked to wait for it, but unpopular enough that people could not be asked to pay for it.

Reagan permitted Americans to live under two social orders, two constitutional orders, at the same time. There was a pre-Great Society one and a post-Great Society one. Paying for both soon got expensive[.] ...

Reagan saved the Great Society the same way that Franklin Roosevelt is credited ... with having "saved capitalism." That is, he tamed ... its very worst excesses and found the resources to protect his own very angry voters from consequences they would otherwise have found intolerable.

How Generations of Presidents (Including Reagan) Wrecked Our Country

For over fifty years, it has been a recurring promise of conservative candidates running for election that they will stand up for our constitutional rights and support the appointment of judges and Supreme Court justices who will uphold the Constitution.

Yet time after time, the left seems to win both ideological and legal battles on monumental issues such as abortion, marriage, gun control, immigration, racial preferences for minorities, and the ever-expanding size and scope of government — no matter what the text of the Constitution actually says.

In The Age of Entitlement: America Since the Sixties, (2020; ISBN 978-1-5011-0689-7) author Christopher Caldwell advances the thesis that the Constitution of 1788 has been effectively nullified by our elites and supplanted with a "new constitution" that originated in, and reflects the values of, the "Civil Rights Era" of the 1960s.  Though the civil rights movement began as a reformist movement within the old order, it evolved into a "revolution" that has nearly triumphed over the polity created in the 18th century:

The changes of the 1960s, with civil rights at their core, were not just a major new element in the Constitution.  They were a rival constitution, with which the original one was frequently incompatible[.] ... Much of what we have called "polarization" or "incivility" in recent years is something more grave — it is the disagreement over which of the two constitutions shall prevail: the de jure constitution of 1788 ... with centuries of American culture behind it ... or the de facto constitution of 1964, which lacks this traditional kind of legitimacy but commands the near-unanimous endorsement of judicial elites and civic educators and the passionate allegiance of those who received it as liberation.

Caldwell argues that the new "de facto constitution" has been used to supersede the Bill of Rights and the black-letter law of the traditional Constitution.  Forced busing and forced integration violated the First Amendment right to freedom of association, as did affirmative action for blacks and women.  Racial and sex-based preferences offend the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.  These policies were enacted despite opposition from most Americans.  Speech codes and political correctness designed to cater to the sensitivities of minorities infringe on the right to freedom of speech and freedom of the press.  The "right" to an abortion, which existed nowhere in the traditional Constitution and was opposed by a majority of the people (with limited exceptions), was essentially created by the Supreme Court.

(It should be noted that not all of those "judicial elites" were far-left Democrats.  Indeed, a fair amount of damage was done by Republicans.  Harry Blackmun, author of Roe v. Wade, was appointed by Nixon; Anthony Kennedy, appointed by Reagan, wrote the majority opinion in the marriage-redefining case Obergefell v. Hodges; Bush appointee John Roberts voted to uphold Obamacare; and Ford appointee John Paul Stevens wrote a virulent dissent in District of Columbia v. Heller, denying that the Second Amendment gave any right whatsoever to anyone not enrolled in the National Guard).

While most white Americans outside the Deep South supported fairness for blacks at the time the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed, Caldwell believes that the act created a bureaucratic and judicial Frankenstein's monster that well intentioned whites never anticipated.  The Civil Rights Act of 1964

empowered the federal government to reform and abolish certain institutions that stood in the way of racial equality and to establish new ones. By ... subjecting to bureaucratic scrutiny any company or institution that received federal money ... by laying out hiring practices from all companies with more than 15 employees ... by creating ... the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), with the power to file lawsuits, conduct investigations, and order redress ... the act emboldened and incentivized bureaucrats, lawyers, intellectuals, and political agitators to become the "eyes and ears," and even the foot soldiers, of civil rights enforcement.

Over time, more of the country's institutions were brought under the act's scrutiny. Eventually all of them were. The grounds for finding someone guilty of discrimination expanded[.] ...

Civil rights transformed the country not just constitutionally, but also culturally and demographically. In ways few people anticipated, it became the mightiest instrument of domestic enforcement the country had ever seen.

But the new civil rights bureaucracy, and the Great Society entitlements it began to confer on minorities and "oppressed" groups in terms of jobs, educations, welfare, and housing, cost money — money that most Americans, including many who supported civil rights, were unwilling or unable to pay.  By the 1980s, a backlash was developing among white working-class voters to the cost and the intrusiveness of the new bureaucracy.

But all Reagan did was kick the can down the road — not resolve the tension between traditional America and the newly empowered "civil rights" constituency.  So did his successors, in both parties.  In 1987, the national debt was roughly $1 trillion, or 34% of GDP; today it is nearing $30 trillion and 130% of GDP.

Caldwell believes that the upshot of Reagan's failure to undo the Great Society was the empowerment of minorities, women, immigrants, and wealthy globalist corporate elites (who turned out the be "woke" leftists in contrast with the conservative, buttoned-down corporate culture of the past).  The losers were the white, working-class, traditional Americans who still believed in the old Constitution while under relentless wage pressure from immigration, affirmative action, and the offshoring of jobs — and were relentlessly mocked and sneered at by the media, politicians, and corporate oligarchs.

Caldwell ends the book by inferring that the growing backlash among disaffected traditional Americans, the accumulating national debt, and the cluelessness and haughty arrogance of the post-1960s ruling class could produce a political reaction in the 2016 election.  However, he does not discuss or address the Trump presidency.

If Caldwell's thesis can be criticized, it is for understating his case — things have proven to be worse than he described.

In hindsight, the Trump presidency exposed the fact that the elites and the Deep State are now completely untethered by the original Constitution of limited and enumerated powers and by the Bill of Rights.  They have demonstrated that they are willing to use the FBI to surveil presidential candidate and to fabricate a false narrative for the purposes of impeaching him.  They have demonstrated that they will side with illegal aliens over American citizens, and that they will freely let black BLM and communist Antifa agitators run riot in the streets while ruthlessly prosecuting and suppressing as "domestic terrorists" patriotic and nationalist groups who caused a ruckus at the Capitol.  They have demonstrated that they are willing to turn a blind eye to vicious and violent attacks by blacks against whites, but drop the hammer of "hate crimes" on any "deplorable" white who has the slightest dispute with a black, or on any cop making a traffic stop of a black criminal.  They have demonstrated that they will continue to expand so-called "civil rights" to include all manner of insanity and freakishness, such as "transgenderism."

Our elites are willing to make explicit racial appeals to minorities and immigrants in order to create a one-party dictatorship for the foreseeable future, while mercilessly demeaning whites and stripping the public sphere of symbols of our past such as statues of Washington, Teddy Roosevelt, and Lincoln.  Our black U.N. ambassador recently denounced America's founding documents as "white supremacist."  They have demonstrated that they are willing to completely ignore the black-letter law of the Second Amendment and ignore the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment with "red flag" laws.  Colleges and corporations have openly and brazenly implemented racial and sex-based quotas in the name of "equity."  Bureaucrats have prosecuted Christian bakers of wedding cakes and used COVID as an excuse to shutter churches and gun shops.  They will prosecute any business-owner for refusing to serve or hire gays or blacks or women, while applauding tech companies that censor and deplatform conservatives, and universities that refuse to hire Republicans or conservatives.  They have openly stated their willingness to pack the Supreme Court with leftist ideologues, to flood the country with third-world immigrants, and to change voter laws to ensure that they get what they want — forever.

Caldwell does not propose a solution to this situation.  But recognizing the problem is a necessary first step in finding one.  "Civil rights" has been used as an effective battering ram against conservatism and against the Constitution of the 1780s; conservatives can no longer allow themselves to be browbeaten by "civil rights" activists.  The rigged election of 2020 and the double-impeachment of Trump should have awakened conservatives to the fact that merely voting Republican and asserting your "constitutional rights" is no longer enough.  But it may be too late.

In 2014, Gov. Cuomo sneered that conservatives have no place in the state of New York.  Increasingly, our elites have adopted the attitude that conservatives have no place anywhere in the country, and they are willing to act on it.

Pro-migration Democrats and business allies got President Joe Biden to quickly overrule a Friday announcement by his top staff that would have capped the 2021 inflow of refugees at 15,000.

“The President’s directive today has been the subject of some confusion,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said in an afternoon statement. “We expect the President to set a final, increased refugee cap for the remainder of this fiscal year by May 15,” she added.

The Psaki announcement came a few hours after Jake Sullivan, Biden’s National Security Advisor, tweeted:

America needs to rebuild our refugee resettlement program. We will use all 15,000 slots under the new Determination and work with Congress on increasing admissions and building back to the numbers to which we’ve committed.

The scale of the reversal may not be known until May 15, when the final 2021 number is scheduled for release. But pro-migration groups are hoping that Biden will announce a 2021 goal of importing several tens-of-thousands of refugees before October, up from the 15,000 scheduled by former President Donald Trump.

The Washington Post reported late on Friday:

Late Friday, White House officials held a call with refugee advocates, during which deputy national security adviser Jon Finer said the cap would likely be lifted well before May 15, according to two people on the call. Finer also said that the administration would try to resettle refugees as soon as possible, rather than spreading out the admissions until Sept. 30, the people said. White House officials plan to hold another meeting with advocates next week, people with knowledge of the plans said.

Biden’s afternoon reversal came after a furious backlash by pro-migration advocates, including senior Democrats, far-left advocates, and business groups.

The morning statement setting the 15,000 level was slammed by Democrats, including Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA),  Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ), and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). “This is unacceptable,” said Sen. Dick Durbin, (D-IL), the second-ranking Democrat Senator.

The politicians’ protests were backed up by pro-migration advocates, including the FWD.us group of investors funded by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.

“We strongly urge President Biden to reverse this decision and commit to his prior promises to rebuild America’s refugee program,” said a quick statement from the FWD.us group, which supports almost any increased inflow of workers, consumers, and renters into the American economy.

The tweeted statement by the wealthy investors suggested that Biden should overrule his top deputies, despite the polling crash caused by the pro-migration preferences of his appointee at the Department of Homeland Security:

At some of our best moments, America has been a beacon of hope and a nation that actively seeks to welcome those seeking refuge—and at some of our worst, we turned our back on those very people in their time of greatest need … today’s decision is not only morally wrong, but will make the forced migration situation from Central America worse.

We strongly urge President Biden to reverse this decision and commit to his prior promises to rebuild America’s refugee program.

The Zuckerberg group of investors is the leading funder and advocate for more migration into Americans’ communities and workplaces. Many other like-minded groups that have received funds from Zuckerberg joined in the backlash.

“Biden should revisit” the decision, said a tweet from Frank Sharry at the Zuckerberg-funded America’s Voice group. “This refugee decision [reeks] of politics. If that’s true, then it’s an unforced political error,” Sharry said in another tweet.

“This decision is bullshit,” Sharry continued in another tweet.

The National Immigration Forum — another recipient of Zuckerberg funds — joined in slamming the 15,000 announcement, saying:

On the day the Biden administration decides to maintain refugee resettlement historic lows, I think about the Afghans who helped our military and what they must be thinking.

Late on Friday, pro-migration advocates celebrated when Biden reversed the staff’s 15,000 decision.

“This is a testament to the power that people’s movements, community advocates, & progressive coalitions have built,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “Thankful for that and the Biden admin’s decision to respond to organizers today. Now let’s get these families to their new homes here in the United States.”

The Biden reversal will likely worsen public worries about his immigration policies.

A White House official told the New York Times that the lower goal of 15,000 was picked because of public opposition to the border chaos:

A senior administration official, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss the decision-making, said the administration grew concerned that the surge of border crossings by unaccompanied minors was too much and had already overwhelmed the refugee branch of the Department of Health and Human Services.

The Washington Post reported April 16:

People close to the White House’s decision-making have said they detected political concerns about expanding the refugee program at a moment when there is increasing pressure on Biden to be tougher on immigration and border security. Biden is dealing with a surge in the number of migrants arriving on the southern border, which has caused policy and political worries about immigration inside the White House, according to people with knowledge of the situation.

Biden’s half-open, half-closed border has created chaos and has deeply damaged Biden’s poll numbers. Breitbart News reported April 15:

Biden’s policies have gotten him 64 percent disapproval among independents, and 55 percent disapproval among Latinos, according to a Quinnipiac poll of 1,237 adults, conducted April 8-12.

Just 22 percent of swing-voting independents and 27 percent of Latinos support Biden’s policy to extricate hundreds of thousands of migrants from their countries into a Hunger Games-style obstacle course, so they can be used in the U.S. economy.

GOP voters strongly oppose these policies, so the Quinnipiac numbers translate into a national disapproval rate of 55 percent, with just 29 percent approval for Biden’s immigration policy.

The refugee programs are unpopular among ordinary Americans because they shift elite attention from Americans’ concerns by pushing foreign migrants into Americans’ towns. That population shift helps to push down wages, raise rents, crowd schools, fracture stable communities, shrivel investment in labor-saving machinery, and redirect corporate investment to the coastal states.

The programs are supported by low-wage employers, university leftists, landlords, retailers, and organizations that receive taxpayer dollars to settle the refugees.

Most refugees settle in coastal states, pushing up rents and capping wages for nearby Americans, such as those living in Ocasio-Cortez’s district. That skew hides much of the program’s damaging impact. But people in heartland states also lose when refugees settle in coastal states because the arrival of foreign labor allows coastal investors to focus their job-creating investments near their coastal homes, not in the interior states, such as West Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky.

Refugees are put on a fast-track to citizenship and can import additional family members via chain migration. The growing population of Democrat-voting Somalis in the United States is the most obvious impact of the nation’s expensive refugee program.

If each migrant brings in just five relatives, then a 2021 goal of 30,000 refugees will eventually deliver 180,000 refugees. The New York Times sketched the chain-migration process:

Asende Ecasa, 33, packed her belongings and left the Nyarugusu refugee camp in Tanzania last month expecting to arrive in the United States on March 4. After Mr. Biden delayed the admissions designation, Ms. Ecasa’s flight was canceled. The medical screening she got to ensure her travel has expired.

Her cousin Alex Majaliwa, who lives in Grand Rapids, Mich., now has no idea when Ms. Ecasa will be allowed into the country.

“If possible, the president can really hear our suffering because we want to come to the nation to find our life, to improve our lives,” Mr. Majaliwa said. It took him years to be approved for resettlement in America.

For many years, a wide variety of pollsters have shown deep and broad opposition to labor migration and the inflow of temporary contract workers into jobs sought by young U.S. graduates. This opposition is multiracialcross-sexnon-racistclass-basedintra-Democraticrational, and recognizes the solidarity that Americans owe to each other.

Chomsky: GOP ‘Dedicated with Passion to Ensuring that the Survival of Organized Human Society Will Be Impossible’

Ahead of this week’s planned virtual Earth Day Summit, leftist political activist Noam Chomsky slammed the modern GOP’s stance on climate change. Chomsky, in the past, has railed against the Trump administration for its lack of action addressing climate change, calling former President Donald Trump worse than Adolf Hitler.

According to the MIT professor, the Republican Party is “dedicated with passion to ensuring that the survival of organized human society will be impossible.” He said the GOP is the “only organization in human history” that has acted that way.

“They are the only organization in human history that is dedicated with passion to ensuring that … the survival of organized human society will be impossible,” Chomsky said Sunday on MSNBC’s “The Mehdi Hasan Show.” “That’s exactly their program since 2009 when they shifted to a denialist position under the impact of the Koch brothers’ juggernaut. Before that, when McCain was running, there was a moderate limited climate program.”

“The denialism — there’s nothing like that in human history,” he added. “It’s clear what is going to happen.”

George W. Bush Digs up ‘Any Willing Worker’ Cheap Labor Plan

Former President George W. Bush is still urging Congress to import more cheap and compliant visa workers — and even more legal immigrants — 17 years after he pushed Congress to adopt his very unpopular “Any Willing Worker” cheap labor law.

BLOG EDITOR: 95% OF BIDEN-BUSH'S INVADERS CANNOT WRITE THEIR OWN NAME IN THEIR OWN LANGUAGE LET ALONE OURS! EVEN WHEN HANDED LOWER EDUCATION IN AMERICA THEY DROP OUT FUNCTIONALLAY ILLITERATE AS THE MEXICAN CULTURE LOATHES LITERACY AS MUCH AS THEY DO SPEAKING THE GRINGOS' ENGLISH.

“Increased legal immigration, focused on employment and skills, is also a choice that both parties should be able to get behind,” Bush wrote in an op-ed for Jeff Bezos’ Washington Post.  He continued:

The United States is better off when talented people bring their ideas and aspirations here. We could also improve our temporary entry program, so that seasonal and other short-term jobs can more readily be filled by guest workers who help our economy, support their families and then return home.

Bush “is a decent man, but he has no understanding of the country’s political situation,” said a tweeted response from Mark Krikorian, director of the Center for Immigration Studies. He “has zero credibility, with anyone, on immigration,” Krikorian added.

After he pushed his plans for amnesty, more immigration, and more visa workers in 2006 and 2007, Bush’s poll ratings fell to roughly 33 percent in 2008. In 2016, Donald Trump pulverized Bush’s expected successor, Jeb Bush, and helped the party adopt immigration policies favored by voters. Over the next four years, Trump helped push up Americans’ wages and forced companies to invest in wealth-producing, labor-saving machinery.

In his new op-ed. Bush’s mention of a claimed “temporary entry program” refers to the visa programs which import massive numbers of blue-collar and white-collar workers for jobs that can be performed by Americans.

Each year, the nation’s employers import roughly at least 500,000 foreigners for blue-collar jobs by using the H-A2, H-2B, and J-1 visas programs. The programs hold down wages for all American and legal immigrant blue-collar workers in the U.S. companies and also minimize management hiring headaches.

In addition, Fortune 500 companies and universities employ at least 1.5 million white-collar temporary workers in jobs needed by American graduates. These white-collar workers are imported via the H-1B, L-1, J-1, OPT, and CPT programs. The white-collar workers cut salaries for American college-graduates, exclude Americans from growth careers, transfer good jobs to the coasts, and also help the Fortune 500 block Americans from creating new rival technologies.

These visa programs serve a similar role to the “Any Willing Worker” program that Bush tried to create in 2004.

Bush’s “Any Willing Worker” program would have allowed employers to hire foreigners at very low wages once Americans declined the offered wage. Once the program was widely used, it would have pressured Americans to accept whatever wage was good enough for foreigners, such as an Indonesian fisherman, a Bolivian mother, a Chinese engineer, or an Egyptian fruit-picker.

The foreigners would have been eager to take low wages for the U.S. jobs, in part because they would also get the colossal, government-granted prize of U.S. citizenship for themselves and their chain-migration relatives by simply offering to work longer hours for less money.

“New immigration laws should serve the economic needs of our country,” Bush announced on January 7, 2004. “If an American employer is offering a job that American citizens are not willing to take, we ought to welcome into our country a person who will fill that job,” he said, adding:

I propose a new temporary worker program that will match willing foreign workers with willing American employers, when no Americans can be found to fill the jobs. This program will offer legal status, as temporary workers, to the millions of undocumented men and women now employed in the United States, and to those in foreign countries who seek to participate in the program and have been offered employment here. This new system should be clear and efficient, so employers are able to find workers quickly and simply.

“Some temporary workers will make the decision to pursue American citizenship,” Bush added. ” Those who make this choice will be allowed to apply in the normal way.”

The New York Timereported January 7, 2004:

The president’s proposals were designed to appeal to Hispanic groups, a constituency that the White House is focusing on as Mr. Bush seeks re-election this year. The proposals are expected to be embraced by President Vicente Fox of Mexico, who has been lobbying for them for the past three years.

In his new Washington Post op-ed. Bush noted that immigrants are likely to be grateful workers — without mentioning that Americans must pressure their employers to pay the salaries they need for their families, homes, and children:

The backgrounds [of legal immigrants] are varied, but readers won’t have to search hard for a common theme. It’s gratitude. So many immigrants are filled with appreciation, a spirit nicely summed up by a Cuban American friend who said: “If I live for a hundred years, I could never repay what this country has done for me.”

But in the White House, Bush support for migrants allowed his GOP deputies to look down on ordinary Americans, according to an April 15 op-ed by Peggy Noonan, a columnist at the Wall Street Journal:

During the Bush immigration debates, when the base of the party rebelled against his comprehensive reform bill, a mostly unspoken accusation emanated from the president’s operatives. It was that the new Americans, including illegal immigrants, were kind of better than the existing American working class, harder-working. This was situational snobbery: The operatives themselves had left the working class behind, but daily rubbed shoulders with newer Americans at home and at the club. That snobbery helped break the party […] the working and middle class of all colors. Workers already here need backup. It’s better to lose campaign contributions than voters.

Bush’s push for cheap labor comes as Democrats join with billionaires — including Mark Zuckerberg’s FWD.us advocacy group– — to push for a dramatic new rush of migrants, including an unlimited infl0w of foreign college graduates.

Bush’s new Washington Post op-ed was covered by several journalists, none of whom mentioned Bush’s long history of using immigration to cut wages and so boost the stock market.

Matthew Brown at USAToday, for example, mentioned Bush’s presidential support for “temporary worker visa programs” but included no description of the “Any Willing Worker” program.

CNN’s

“Is it one of the biggest disappointments of your presidency, not being – ”

“Yes, it really is,” Mr. Bush said. “I campaigned on immigration reform. I made it abundantly clear to voters this is something I intended to do.”

The voter opposition to elite-backed economic migration coexists with support for legal immigrants and some sympathy for illegal migrants. But only a minority of Americans — mostly Leftists — embrace the many skewed polls and articles pushing the 1950’s corporate “Nation of Immigrants” claim.

GOP Memo: Joe Biden Has Opened Borders to Help Donors and CEOs

The Republican Study Committee has posted talking points for GOP legislators to help them focus public opposition against the mass migration caused by pro-migration zealots in President Joe Biden’s administration.

“The Biden Immigration Agenda sacrifices the interests of the American People in order to serve the interests of foreign citizens, criminal cartels, and ultra-wealthy multinational corporations,” says the April 12 memo from Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN). The memo continued:

Biden’s agenda rejects responsible limits and controls on the number of people entering the country.

It’s as if the Biden Administration recognizes no borders at all.

President Biden’s policy is not liberal, or even merely left-wing — it is radical, extreme and beyond the bounds of rational thought.

While Biden reshapes our immigration system to serve rich donors and giant corporations, we believe it must serve the interests of American citizens, families and workers.

“Trump FIXED it, Biden BROKE it. It’s just that simple,” the memo says.

The memo would help GOP legislators reframe the debate around Americans’ concerns, and away from the focus on migrants’ desires that pro-migration groups and most of the nation’s media tout.
For example, Mark Zuckerberg’s FWD.us advocacy group funded a polling memo which warned pro-amnesty legislators to avoid talking about jobs and wages and to instead focus their pitch on the worries and concerns of foreign migrants:

It is better to focus on all of the aforementioned sympathetic details of those affected [by an amnesty] than to make economic arguments, including arguments about wages or demand for labor. As we have seen in the past, talking about immigrants doing jobs Americans won’t do is not a helpful frame, and other economic arguments are less effective than what is recommended above.

The migrant-first framing is pushed by establishment media outlets — such as The Washington Post — and by politicians who have decided to support an amnesty. “This is basically for the children,” Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) said April 1 after endorsing a 2021 amnesty that would reward investors and CEOs to hire foreign migrants instead of recruiting West Virginia’s adults and graduates.

The new GOP memo also shifts the Party’s message towards pro-American solutions and away from vague, donor-approved complaints about socialism, welfare, and security. A polling memo released March 24 by the billionaire-funded, pro-migration Immigration Hub group spotlighted the weakness of GOP messaging that avoids positive proposals:

In message-testing, Republicans’ greatest vulnerability on immigration is their refusal to work with Biden on solutions to the problem — instead opting to score political points. When presented with a range of criticisms of Republicans’ approach to the southern border, the following item is most concerning:

That Republicans in Congress refuse to work with President Biden on solutions to address what’s happening at the border, instead opting to block everything Biden is doing on immigration to score political points.

Banks wrote his memo after leading a delegation of GOP representatives to the border:

In the matter of mere weeks, the Biden Administration has transformed President Trump’s secured Southern Border into the sprawling site of an unmitigated and rapidly worsening disaster.

As we could clearly see with our own eyes what the Biden Administration desperately wants to hide from the American public: the situation is devolving and deteriorating by the day. When we met with local sheriffs, mayors and judges at the border, they told us in no uncertain terms that this is an indisputable crisis. They also told us they don’t have time for Congress to drag its feet and pass laws — they need help now. And they need it fast.

President Biden must not be allowed to hide behind the liberal media’s smoke screen. We must urge he and Vice President Harris to visit the border and see the crisis they created firsthand. It is incumbent upon all of us to ensure that he is held accountable to the American public for his massive failure.

Banks’ memo suggests four ways for GOP legislators to talk about Biden’s cheap-labor economic policy at the border:

1. National Security: Immigration policy should protect our national security by protecting the American people from terrorism, cartels, and other threats to their safety;
2. America First: Immigration policy should prioritize American workers first, help grow our middle class, raise wages, and enhance economic opportunity for all lawful residents well;
3. Rule of Law: Immigration policy should respect the rule of law, along with immigrants that honor our legal immigration processes, rather than incentivize law breaking;
4. Patriotic Assimilation: Immigration policy should aim to assimilate legal immigrants into the American family so they too can take pride in our values, history, and heritage.

Biden is also far from the mainstream, the memo says:

Americans regardless of party recognize the need to afford basic protections to U.S. workers in the job market. And voters throughout America recognize that we must first consider the social, economic and financial well-being of all American citizens and lawful residents here today. Biden has rejected this mainstream consensus and, with virtually no announcement or discussion, is sailing the United States deep into uncharted waters.

The voter opposition to elite-backed economic migration coexists with support for legal immigrants and some sympathy for illegal migrants. But only a minority of Americans — mostly progressives — embrace the many skewed polls and articles that push the 1950’s corporate “Nation of Immigrants” claim.

The deep public opposition is built on the widespread recognition that migration moves money away from most Americans’ pocketbooks and families. It moves money from employees to employers, from families to investors, from young to old, from children to their parents, from homebuyers to real estate investors, from Red states to Blue states, and from the central states to the coastal states such as New York.

Today, there are at least 8 million illegals holding U.S. jobs (THE NUMBER IS PROBABLY TEN TIMES THAT). The mass employment of illegals by hundreds of businesses, though, continues to go largely ignored by the law, as only 11 employers and no businesses were federally prosecuted for hiring illegal aliens from 2018 to 2019. The number of federal prosecutions of employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens rarely exceeds 15 per year.  JOHN BINDER

Recently the Democrat party has become the party of open borders and amnesty as well as ultimate citizenship for upwards of 22 million illegal immigrants and with open borders at least another 2-4 million more every year. The vast majority of these illegal immigrants are functionally illiterate and lacking in employable skills.  STEVE McCANN

As Cecilia Muñoz, White House Director of Intergovernmental Affairs explained, “Even if the immigration law is executed with perfection, there will be parents separated from their children.” As it turns out, that separation policy was intentional, and the Obama administration deployed it to enrich cronies.

“Texas-based Southwest Key Programs has taken in roughly $1 billion in federal contracts since the Obama administration,” Fox News reports, “and is expected to receive about $500 million this year to house and provide services for immigrant children.” Southwest Key holds a total of “more than 5,000 immigrant children, about 10 percent of whom are said to have been separated from their families since May, when the new policy was announced. Its shelters for immigrants minors are in Texas, Arizona and California.”

Southwest Key Programs also operates “the largest licensed shelter for immigrant children in the United States. A 250,000-square-foot facility at a former WalMart superstore in Brownsville, Texas, today houses some 1,500 boys between the ages of 10 and 17 who illegally entered the U.S.”

According to a report by Drew Griffin of CNN, Southwest Key operates 83 detention centers across the country and has pulled in $1.5 billion in federal contracts. Southwest Key boss Juan Sanchez bags a cool $1.47 million a year “which makes him one of the highest paid charity CEOs in the country.” Mark Owen of the IRS told CNN Sanchez’s salary “extraordinarily high” and Sanchez’s wife grabs a salary of $262,000. The Southwest Key website does not feature management salary information.

KXAN of Austin reports that Southwest Key has received $995 million in federal funds since 2015. Over a three-year period, Southwest Key had “more than 200 violations at its facilities,” including  a resident failing to receive proper care for a sexually transmitted disease (STD).

He now runs La Casa de Esperanza, which provides services to immigrants at locations nationwide. As Fox reports, “Villarreal has taken high-profile positions against Trump immigration policies, and last month participated in a march against a Wisconsin county’s plans to work with federal immigration officials.”

The primary source is La Raza Cosmica, by Mexican education minister and presidential candidate Jose Vasconcelos, republished in 1979 by the “Chicano Studies” department at Cal State LA. According to Vasconcelos, students from English, Dutch and Scandinavian backgrounds are “slower, almost dull,” compared to “mestizo children and youths from the south.” No scores but it’s something “any teacher can corroborate.”

Blacks are “uglier stocks” and part of the “inferior races.” Halle Berry and Ben Carson might want to call their office. The Mongol, “with the mystery of his slanted eyes,” is part of an “exhausted people” that lacks the “boldness for new enterprises.” Apparently Xi Jinping and Shinzo Abe never got the memo.

On the other hand, according to La Raza Cosmica, the fusion of Spaniards and Indians is a new race “infinitely superior to all that have previously existed.” That is the raza replacing those awful Yankee “Anglo-Saxons,” code for all non-raza peoples who speak English. The non-raza Yankees “are gradually becoming more a part of yesterday.”

Mexican American communist Bert Corona found The Cosmic Race similar to “the kind of German racial superiority theory supported by Hitler.” Even so, razaismo is the driving force of current efforts to violate the border and colonize the United States.

Consider, for example, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, former mayor of Mexico City and candidate for president in Mexico’s July 1 election. As the New York Times, explains, “Manuel López Obrador’s victory seems inevitable.” The only question is “the size of his victory.”

Sure-fire winner Obrador calls mass immigration to the United States a “human right” and says migrants “must leave their towns and find a life in the United States.” This razaista wants his lebensraum and he wants it right now.

If Obrador wins, President Trump might get him up to speed on America’s experience with regimes like that. And he might broach the subject of the $26.1 billion in remittances, an amount impossible without the bilking of American taxpayers on a massive scale.

Whoever wins, the migrants will be coming in force and the Mexican colonialists will find many collaborators among leftist Democrats, the establishment media, and the crony razaists ripping off kids and American taxpayers alike.

FIFTEEN THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT LA RAZA “THE RACE”

by Michelle Malkin

Only in America could critics of a group called "The Race" be labeled racists. Such is the triumph of left-wing identity chauvinists, whose aggressive activists and supine abettors have succeeded in redefining all opposition as "hate."

Both Barack Obama and John McCain will speak this week in San Diego at the annual conference of the National Council of La Raza, the Latino organization whose name is Spanish for, yes, "The Race." Can you imagine Obama and McCain paying homage to a group of white people who called themselves that? No matter. The presidential candidates and the media have legitimized "The Race" as a mainstream ethnic lobbying group and marginalized its critics as intolerant bigots. The unvarnished truth is that the group is a radical ethnic nationalist outfit that abuses your tax dollars and milks PC politics to undermine our sovereignty.

Here are 15 things you should know about "The Race":

15. "The Race" supports driver's licenses for illegal aliens.

14."The Race" demands in-state tuition discounts for illegal alien students that are not available to law-abiding U.S. citizens and law-abiding legal immigrants.

13. "The Race" vehemently opposes cooperative immigration enforcement efforts between local, state and federal authorities.

12. "The Race" opposes a secure fence on the southern border.

11. "The Race" joined the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee in a failed lawsuit attempt to prevent the feds from entering immigration information into a key national crime database -- and to prevent local police officers from accessing the data.

10. "The Race" opposed the state of Oklahoma's tough immigration-enforcement-first laws, which cut off welfare to illegal aliens, put teeth in employer sanctions and strengthened local-federal cooperation and information sharing.

9. "The Race" joined other open-borders, anti-assimilationists and sued to prevent Proposition 227, California's bilingual education reform ballot initiative, from becoming law.

8. "The Race" bitterly protested common-sense voter ID provisions as an "absolute disgrace."

7. "The Race" has consistently opposed post-9/11 national security measures at every turn.

6. Former "Race" president Raul Yzaguirre, Hillary Clinton's Hispanic outreach adviser, said this: "U.S. English is to Hispanics as the Ku Klux Klan is to blacks." He was referring to U.S. English, the nation's oldest, largest citizens' action group dedicated to preserving the unifying role of the English language in the United States. "The Race" also pioneered Orwellian open-borders Newspeak and advised the Mexican government on how to lobby for illegal alien amnesty while avoiding the terms "illegal" and "amnesty."

5. "The Race" gives mainstream cover to a poisonous subset of ideological satellites, led by Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan, or Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan (MEChA). The late GOP Rep. Charlie Norwood rightly characterized the organization as "a radical racist group … one of the most anti-American groups in the country, which has permeated U.S. campuses since the 1960s, and continues its push to carve a racist nation out of the American West."

4. "The Race" is currently leading a smear campaign against staunch immigration enforcement leaders and has called for TV and cable news networks to keep immigration enforcement proponents off the airwaves -- in addition to pushing for Fairness Doctrine policies to shut up their foes. The New York Times reported that current "Race" president Janet Murguia believes "hate speech" should "not be tolerated, even if such censorship were a violation of First Amendment rights."

3. "The Race" sponsors militant ethnic nationalist charter schools subsidized by your public tax dollars (at least $8 million in federal education grants). The schools include Aztlan Academy in Tucson, Ariz., the Mexicayotl Academy in Nogales, Ariz., Academia Cesar Chavez Charter School in St. Paul, Minn., and La Academia Semillas del Pueblo in Los Angeles, whose principal inveighed: "We don't want to drink from a White water fountain, we have our own wells and our natural reservoirs and our way of collecting rain in our aqueducts. We don't need a White water fountain … ultimately the White way, the American way, the neo liberal, capitalist way of life will eventually lead to our own destruction."

2. "The Race" has perfected the art of the PC shakedown at taxpayer expense, pushing relentlessly to lower home loan standards for Hispanic borrowers, reaping millions in federal "mortgage counseling" grants, seeking special multimillion-dollar earmarks and partnering with banks that do business with illegal aliens.

1. "The Race" thrives on ethnic supremacy -- and the elite sheeple's unwillingness to call it what it is. As historian Victor Davis Hanson observes: "[The] organization's very nomenclature 'The National Council of La Raza' is hate speech to the core. Despite all the contortions of the group, Raza (as its Latin cognate suggests) reflects the meaning of 'race' in Spanish, not 'the people' -- and that's precisely why we don't hear of something like 'The National Council of the People,' which would not confer the buzz notion of ethnic, racial and tribal chauvinism."

The fringe is the center. The center is the fringe. Viva La Raza.

Judge whose sister heads La Raza rules 130-year law against encouraging illegal immigrants is unconstitutional

https://www.conservativereview.com/news/judge-whose-sister-heads-la-raza-rules-130-year-law-encouraging-illegal-immigrants-unconstitutional/

Daniel Horowitz ·

Imagine if Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or Rashida Tlaib got to single-handedly veto sovereignty legislation dating back to the 1880s just like a president could veto a new bill passed by Congress this session. Imagine if they could unilaterally abolish ICE and declare open borders, except, unlike a president, they wouldn’t have to stand for re-election. Well, that is exactly the situation this week with a single federal judge. Thanks to Republicans agreeing to the notion that judges – even lower court judges – have direct veto power over legislation, a foundational immigration law has just been “vetoed.”

KCUR-FM reports that on Wednesday, Judge Carlos Murguia of the U.S. District Court of Kansas ruled, based on a Ninth Circuit opinion, that 8 U.S.C. §1324, the law prohibiting someone from “encouraging” or “inducing” illegal immigration, is an unconstitutional infringement upon the First Amendment. In doing so, Murguia vacated the convictions of two illegal aliens, Jose Felipe Hernandez-Calvillo and Mauro Papalotzi, who were convicted in August 2018 by a jury for conspiring to encourage illegal aliens to remain here through employment at a drywall company in Lawrence, Kansas. Four others were originally indicted by a grand jury in 2015.

This law has been on the books in some form for over 130 years, and numerous federal courts have upheld convictions based on §1324. Yet one judge, who worked for an open-borders group named El Centro Inc. and whose sister Janet Murguia is president of La Raza (now called UnidosUS), suddenly thinks conspiring to harbor and encourage illegal immigration violates the First Amendment. Carlos’ sister Mary (who is an identical twin to Janet) is a federal judge on the very Ninth Circuit Court from which he drew this opinion. Judge Mary Murguia once recused herself from a trial involving pro-enforcement Sheriff Joe Arpaio because of her sister’s leadership of La Raza. Carlos should have done the same thing this week in this case, which involves a law that directly conflicts with the work with the open-borders groups his family is associated with.

Rather than rule based on the law, he decided to adopt the ruling of the Ninth Circuit (which doesn’t have jurisdiction in Kansas), which ruled last December that §1324 is “unconstitutionally overbroad” because it “criminalizes a substantial amount of protected expression.” “The court adopts (the 9th Circuit’s) analysis in full and agrees that (the law) on its face is overbroad under the First Amendment,” said Murguia in a brief bench ruling first reported by KCUR-FM.

This assertion is ridiculous, because the law clearly refers to engaging in subversive and fraudulent activities to encourage or enable actual individual aliens to remain in the country, not mere political advocacy for liberal immigration policies in the abstract. It’s like saying that someone who hates high taxes or gun control laws and advocates against them is the same as a person who actively assists tax cheats and gun felons in achieving the end goal of the criminalized behavior.

The 1952 INA (8 U.S.C. § 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv)) calls for felony prosecution for anyone who “encourages or induces an alien to come to, enter, or reside in the United States, knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such coming to, entry, or residence is or will be in violation of law.” Subsection (V)(I) prohibits “any conspiracy to commit any of the preceding acts.” The two defendants in this case were convicted on both counts. This law passed the Senate unanimously!

The forerunners to this law were the Contract Labor Law of 1885 and the 1891 Immigration Act. The 1885 law made it unlawful to “in any way assist or encourage the importation or migration of any alien” for the purpose of contract labor. Section 3 of the 1891 Immigration Act made it a felony to “assist or encourage the importation or migration of any alien by promise of employment” through advertisements.

Other circuits have long recognized this law as completely legitimate. “Harboring, within the meaning of §1324, encompasses conduct tending substantially to facilitate an alien’s remaining in the United States illegally and to prevent government authorities from detecting his unlawful presence,” wrote the Second Circuit in 1999. “Such facilitation may be attempted through a wide range of conduct.” (United States v. Kim, 193 F.3d 567, 574 (2d Cir. 1999).) The Fifth Circuit has ruled that Congress intended for §1324 to “broadly proscribe any knowing or willful conduct fairly within any of these terms that tends to substantially facilitate an alien’s remaining in the U.S. illegally.”

So how could a single judge who has a family history of open-borders activism be allowed to veto such long-standing and universal laws? The answer is that he has no such power other than what the other branches are willing to cede him.

The concern here is that this will not only protect employers who knowingly help illegal aliens get around our immigration laws, but it will also essentially legalize sanctuary cities. Throughout the county, sanctuary cities are taking active steps to thwart immigration law. We would never tolerate this for other federal laws concerning American criminals. Why should illegal aliens have special privileges?

Rather than shirking from §1324 prosecutions, Trump’s DOJ should aggressively go after sanctuary cities, especially in areas where there are saner federal judges. A judge has no power to “strike down” or veto statutes he or she believes are overly broad. If there is a case that concerns pure speech or advocacy without any conspiracy or action taken to encourage illegal immigration, then it is within the prerogative of a judge not to convict the person. That is judicial power. But judges have no ability to say that the statute can’t be applied even when an action is involved because, in their view, the text of the law might rope in speech in other cases. To believe otherwise is to concoct an entirely new level of judicial veto that our Founders explicitly rejected. This is the difference between judicial review and judicial supremacy.

Finally, it’s important to remember that this is yet another example of judges attempting to fully nullify long-standing immigration law. Some on the Right believe that Congress needs to pass new laws in order to end illegal immigration. It’s simply not true. We don’t have a law problem; we have a judicial supremacy problem. The only question is whether the other branches will give this fake power full effect.
