The nation’s foreign-born population has hit an unprecedented 49.5 million, the largest ever recorded in American history, under President Joe Biden.
Analysis by Steven Camarota and Karen Zeigler at the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) revealed that in October the foreign-born population reached almost 50 million, increasing by 4.5 million foreign-born residents since Biden took office in January 2021.
Put another way, the Biden administration has added more immigrants to the nation’s population than the annual number of U.S. births in fewer than three years. Similarly, the growth of the foreign-born population under Biden exceeds the resident populations of 25 states.
“At 15 percent, the foreign-born share of the U.S. population is also the highest ever recorded in American history,” Camarota and Zeigler wrote:
As the debate rages over the ongoing border crisis, this finding is important because administrative numbers such as border encounters or even legal immigrant arrivals do not measure the actual size of the immigrant population, which is what ultimately determines immigration’s impact on the country. In numbers even excessive for a liberal White House, Biden has doubled the monthly inflow of immigration. Under former President Barack Obama, for example, the foreign-born population grew by about 68,000 every month and under former President Donald Trump it grew by about 42,000 a month.
Biden, on the other hand, has grown the foreign-born population by a whopping 137,000 every month since taking office. More than half — about 2.5 million — of those arriving under Biden, the CIS researchers note, are illegal aliens with the remaining two million arriving as legal immigrants.
More than 6-in-10 foreign-born residents who have arrived since Biden became president are from Latin America while others are primarily from Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean, and the Middle East.
Though much attention is given to illegal immigration, the nation’s policy of annually importing more than a million legal immigrants accounts for 75 percent of the total foreign-born population today.
Without reductions to legal immigration levels, the foreign-born population is expected to hit 70 million by 2060.
American voters continuously tell pollsters they want cuts to overall immigration, mostly legal immigration. The latest survey from Rasmussen Reports showed 56 percent of likely voters want legal immigration levels cut to at least 750,000 admissions a year — including a plurality who said they want to see fewer than 500,000 admissions a year.
Likewise, 62 percent of likely voters said they oppose current immigration law which allows for so-called “chain migration,” the process where newly naturalized citizens can sponsor an unlimited number of foreign relatives for green cards.
Most relevant to the CIS analysis, nearly 7-in-10 likely voters said they want immigration-driven population growth either slowed or halted altogether so that the U.S. population can stabilize at a comfortable rate.

So they want billions and billions in assistance to foreign countries, such as Ukraine, which is not a NATO country, but a big hog wallow for the U.S. foreign policy consulting establishment, nearly all Democrats, drawing lots of "contracts," if not losing track of the money entirely, as a top Ukrainian official admitted, but they refuse to lift a finger to halt Joe Biden's open-borders policies, which have created untold misery on city streets as migrants are dumped, human trafficking networks are empowered, cartels are growing so rich they are driving Mexicans out of their homes, families are being separated and broken up and kids sold into slavery based on Biden's immigration incentives, migrants a r e dying en route through dangerous crossings, illegal alien crime is growing, and Democrat-led cities are seeing their budgets blown out and vital police and fire services cut. The large U.S. population of illegal immigrants helps to push down wages for Americans, push disadvantaged workers out of the labor force, reduce corporate investment in technology and training, and spike corporate sales and profits. As reported by Breitbart Texas, the arrest of migrants with existing criminal records is up by more than 350 % since 2020. According to CBP, the number of migrants who have criminal convictions for Homicide and Manslaughter rose from 3 encounters in 2020 to more than 60 in 2022. More than 120 migrants with homicide or manslaughter convictions have been encountered since January 2021 — compared to 11 during the Trump era. The increase reflects those convicted of prior offenses committed in the United States.

The Biden administration’s solution to thousands of migrants illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border between ports of entry is to close legal border crossing points. The administration closed legal border crossing points in Texas and Arizona to divert manpower to process migrants making illegal entry into the U.S. more quickly.
Independent journalists posted videos of migrants crossing the border from Coahuila, Mexico, into Eagle Pass, Texas by the hundreds.
One video by Efrain González, shot from the Mexican side of the Rio Grande, shows a large group of migrants who successfully crossed the Rio Grande. The migrants are marched to an outdoor processing center before being transported by Border Patrol.
A video by Auden B. Cabello shows a group of migrant families, including small children, using a rope to steady themselves as they move through the swiftly flowing currents of the Rio Grande to make entry into Texas.
In the Tucson Sector, thousands continue to cross the border, forcing Border Patrol officials to shut down field operations in lieu of migrant processing, Breitbart Texas’ Randy Clark reported .
NewsMax journalist Ali Bradley posted a video showing hundreds of migrants camped out by fires while they await transportation.
Bradley reports that the Ajo Station migrant processing center is at 700 percent over capacity.
In response to the out-of-control border crossings in the Del Rio and Tucson Sectors, Biden administration officials chose to shut down legal border crossing points in Eagle Pass, Texas, and Lukeville, Arizona, on Monday.
“Beginning at 3 p.m. local time, CBP’s Office of Field Operations will temporarily suspend vehicle processing operations at Eagle Pass International Bridge 1 in Eagle Pass, Texas, and at 2 p.m. local time, reduce vehicle processing in Lukeville, Arizona, in order to redirect personnel to assist the U.S. Border Patrol with taking migrants into custody,” CBP officials stated. “In response to this influx in encounters, we will continue to surge all available resources to expeditiously and safely process migrants. We will maximize consequences against those without a legal basis to remain in the United States. CBP will continue to prioritize our border security mission as necessary in response to this evolving situation.”
“The U.S. is continuing to see increased levels of migrant encounters at the Southwest Border, fueled by smugglers peddling disinformation to prey on vulnerable individuals and encourage migration,” officials continued. “As we respond with additional resources and apply consequences for unlawful entry, the migration trends shift as well. We continue to adjust our operational plans to maximize enforcement efforts against those noncitizens who do not use lawful pathways or processes such as CBP One™.”
The efforts by the Biden administration are having little to any impact on the continuing border crisis. Rather than finding ways to deter or stop migrant crossings, the administration continues to work on more efficient ways to process migrants and release them into the United States.
By the end of November, Border Patrol agents will have apprehended an estimated 370,000 migrants along the southwest border during the first two months of Fiscal Year 24.
