Judicial Watch was victorious in helping to shut down Herndon, Virginia's day laborer site for illegal aliens! The last day of operation for the site was September 14, 2007!
Judicial Watch led the fight against a plan that used tax dollars to help illegal immigrants find jobs.
On August 17, 2005, The Herndon Town Council ignored the rule of law, and the recommendation of the Herndon Planning Commission, and voted 5-2 to establish a "Day Laborer" site on public property.
Judicial Watch filed a lawsuit on behalf of a group of Herndon residents against the Town of Herndon on September 1, 2005.
Both federal and state law prohibits the Town of Herndon from committing public funds and resources in order to facilitate the illegal employment of undocumented aliens. 8 U.S.C. § 1324 states the criminal penalties of "bringing in and harboring certain aliens" while 8 U.S.C. § 1324a provides against the "unlawful employment of aliens." Also see Va. Code 63.2-503.1 which provides that "no person who is not a United States Citizen or legally present in the United States shall receive state or local public assistance."
