Rep. Ashley Hinson to Introduce Bill Stopping Kamala Harris Travel Funds Until She Visits Southern Border
Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA) plans to introduce a bill Thursday aimed at halting Vice President Kamala Harris from using taxpayer money for travel until she visits the southern border and creates a plan to deal with the crisis there.
The See the Crisis Act, which Fox News first obtained, will “limit the travel” of Harris “until certain activities are undertaken with respect to the southwest border, and for other purposes.” This would limit the federal funds that “may be obligated or expected for travel expenses” for her to travel outside the United States.
The bill also includes Harris meeting with agencies at the border and creating a plan to deal with the crisis as well as focusing on the amount of foreign aid to be given to Northern Triangle countries to respond to the crisis, according to Fox News.
In an interview with the outlet Wednesday, Hinson said, “We have an absolute crisis at the border, and Vice President Harris was appointed to lead the administration’s efforts on the border crisis, but it’s been 56 days, and in that time, she hasn’t been to the border once.” Hinson added, “She hasn’t held a news conference on the administration’s efforts for a plan, and I think it’s time she does that.”
Harris has been actively avoiding visiting the southern border since President Joe Biden appointed her as the border point person. Harris has not made a single trip. She is supposed to lead talks with Mexico and Northern Triangle countries to address the trend of illegal border crossings.
Breitbart News reported when the vice president was asked in April if she would inspect the border crisis, she said it was Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’s job. “We must address the symptoms, and that is what is happening with the team of folks who are working on the border, led by Ali Mayorkas. But we also have to deal with the root causes. Otherwise, we are just in a perpetual system of only dealing with the symptoms,” Harris said.
Hinson continued to tell Fox that Harris is “putting yarn shops and bakeries before the border,” continuing, “She’s Zoomed with the Mexican president, but I think that sends the absolute wrong message to the men and women that are putting their lives on the line every day.”
She later added, “Not to mention the men and women and families that live in these communities along the border and the communities of Iowa — every state is a border state.”
During a visit to the southern border in April, Hinson also called on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to visit the border, saying Congress has been “kicking the can for far too long.” Hinson said that as an Iowa mom, everything that’s happening at the border is concerning to her. “This is a safety and security issue for our families, not only here on the border but across this country.”
During her visit, she had claimed that cartel members are bringing the drugs straight to Iowa from the southern border using Interstate 35, which goes straight through Iowa. She said this problem is “putting our communities at risk.”
“I’m very passionate about this issue. I’m ready to get to work on fixing these problems,” she stated. Hinson serves on the House Appropriations Committee and the Homeland Security subcommittee in the House.
Texas Rep: If Cartels Had Lobbyists, They Wouldn't Change a Thing About Biden Border Policy
Joe Biden is facilitating the largest modern-day human trafficking operation in the United States today, and your tax dollars are funding it.
Unfortunately, Democrats only seem to care about human life when it fuels their narrative or political agenda. The crisis unfolding on our southern border proves it. When Joe Biden unilaterally reversed the successful Trump policies shielding our country from a flood of illegal immigration, he created conditions allowing the Mexican cartels to flourish, endangering the lives of both Americans and the illegal aliens being trafficked.
If the cartels had lobbyists, they wouldn’t advocate for a single change to Biden’s border and immigration policy. Border crossings are at a twenty-year high under the Biden administration, and the rate of unaccompanied minors crossing the border has nearly doubled between February and March.
Key Democrats, once highly critical of the law-and-order immigration policies championed by President Trump, have fallen silent as these disturbing statistics rise and this ugly trend continues. They seem to care more about the politics of the immigration crisis than even the migrants themselves. Biden’s sordid attempts to block reporters and members of Congress from viewing the crisis have gone unreported in the media, who have suddenly been transformed from attack dogs to lap dogs under the Biden administration.
A few months ago, I visited the Donna Holding Facility in Donna, Tex. It’s currently at 1,600% over its maximum capacity, thanks to the Biden administration’s drastic shift in immigration policies. My colleagues and I were assigned a “minder” – someone who followed us closely, told us what we could and could not photograph, and took notes on everything Customs and Border Protection told us.
We likened her to our very own KGB handler and promptly ignored all her directives.
The Biden administration doesn’t want you to know the truth about the border crisis because it’s an abject disaster. Democrats have politically pigeonholed themselves from intelligently solving a crisis of their own making because they refuse to reimplement Trump-era policies they KNOW will reduce the current flood to a trickle.
This crisis doesn’t end at the border. The border is merely a gateway for crime, drugs, violence, and human trafficking. Last month in the district I represent, which is roughly 500 miles north of the border, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department pulled over a vehicle suspected of smuggling drugs. But they didn’t find bricks of cocaine. They found 18 illegal immigrants from Guatemala being transported to Baltimore, Md. The migrants admitted to being illegally trafficked, and one of the two smugglers even confessed to being wanted for bank robbery in Central America.
Biden’s Homeland Security Department was notified, and their instructions to the sheriff were to release the illegal immigrants into our district.
“Release them where?” Franklin County Sheriff Rick Jones asked.
Homeland Security didn’t have an answer. They only said the aliens didn’t meet the qualifications for deportation. One Homeland Security official candidly admitted to the sheriff: “If this had happened in January [under President Trump], things would be different.”
This explanation was unbelievable to all the sheriffs in my district and to me. If you knew a house in your neighborhood was the epicenter of a human trafficking organization, and you called the police, what would you expect any reasonable law enforcement officer to do? There would be dozens of police vehicles and personnel outside within minutes. But in Biden’s America, those who break our laws are released onto the street.
When the party of “JFK” suddenly becomes the party of “AOC,” logic becomes scarce. Those on the outskirts of the party carry the radical energy of the party, and drag the moderates kicking and screaming to the far left. Open borders, catch and release, and illegal immigrants voting are no longer ideas joked about on satirical websites; they are embraced by the editorial boards and “thought leaders” of the mainstream media. Meanwhile, our nation suffers gravely.
Without borders, there is no nation we can call home. Without the rule of law, chaos triumphs.
The Biden administration refuses to acknowledge the enormous strain our law enforcement is facing at the border, and Kamala Harris, who is supposed to be leading the federal response to the crisis’s root causes, is MIA. For two months, she has adamantly refused to visit our southern border. The new administration’s response to the festering crisis has been apathetic, negligent, and nauseating. We are now projecting wokeness at home and weakness abroad.
As the nation flounders under Biden’s directionless leadership on a crisis he created, Americans and even the migrants will continue to suffer. I truly hope the Biden administration will reverse course immediately to protect both our nation and human dignity. But logic and reasoning in the Biden administration appear to be as rare as a Kamala Harris border sighting.

Graham: ‘We’re Inviting a Terrorist Attack on Our Country on the 20th Anniversary of 9/11 by Losing Control of the Border’
(CNSNews.com) – Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) told Fox News’s “Hannity” that the Biden administration is “inviting a terrorist attack” on the United States on the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks by not controlling the southern border.
“Let's start with the border. We are inviting a terrorist attack on our country on the 20th anniversary of 9/11 by losing control of the border. How hard is it for a terrorist organization to figure out that you can put terrorists in this flow of illegal immigrants crossing our border? We’re equivocating on standing with Israel. I will be in Charleston, South Carolina tomorrow night rallying Christians and the Israeli community and freedom-loving South Carolinians to stand with Israel," Graham said.
"Two things I’m certain of. Hamas would kill every Israeli if they could. The only reason they are not is ‘cause Israel can defend itself, and Israel could kill tens of Palestinians if they wanted do. They don't. They want to live in peace. They want to live in security, so to my Democrats colleagues who are pushing Israel to stop killing Hamas, degrading Hamas, you’re wrong. Israel, if you’re listening, do what you need to do to protect yourself. This war needs to continue. You continue it. We have your back,” he said.
Graham said the U.S. has “done everything but take an ad out in the paper, come to America.”
“We’re stopping deportations. They’ve basically put ICE out of business. Joe Biden’s overwhelmed by the job of being president. The left has lost its mind. There’s more fentanyl across the border this time in 2021 than in all of 2020. Israel is under the gun – 3500 rockets. Where is it coming from? Iran,” the senator said.
“To the Biden administration, you would be insane to start negotiating with Iran as long as they’re still the largest state sponsor of terrorism. So I am very worried about our national security. I’m very worried about our border here at home,” Graham said, adding that “2022 is gonna be a hell of an election.”
“If you are a conservative person, and you don't vote in 2022, you have nobody to blame but yourself. I miss Donald Trump. None of this would happen if President Trump was president today. I hope he’s considering running. Let’s start a draft Trump movement. He’s the one guy who can go to the America people and say, ‘Let me finish what I started. What I did worked,’” he said.
Host Sean Hannity said that Trump’s agenda worked.
“I like focus on the agenda. His agenda worked. Conservatism works. Any time those policies are implemented, it works, and I think Putin, Kim Jong-un, the mullahs in Iran and Xi in China, they feared Trump. They don't fear this guy,” Hannity said.
Graham agreed.
“You got it. They are cleaning our clock, and when trump was the president of the United States, there was a different attitude the world had towards the United States, and I miss that attitude. We are weaker today than we’ve been since Jimmy Carter,” the senator said.
Narcotics Push into South Texas Border Area amid 20-Year High in Illegal Migration
The Rio Grande Valley Sector already leads the nation in apprehensions of unaccompanied migrant children (UACs), single adult aliens, and criminal aliens. Amid these trends, Mexican cartels are still pushing substantial quantities of drugs into the area.
On Monday, Border Patrol agents in concert with other local and federal agencies arrested 162 migrants in multiple stash houses throughout the Rio Grande Valley. To combat the problem, the Border Patrol is serving homeowners a notice that their property is being used for criminal activity which could lead to forfeiture proceedings.
On the same day, agents in Weslaco, Texas, arrested 237 migrants in one group. They consisted of mostly family units and unaccompanied children. Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol agents say they interdicted 50 “large groups” illegally entering the United States this year. A large group is defined as 100 or more migrants.
In Fiscal Year 2021, agents in the Rio Grande Valley apprehended 221,115 migrants–compared to 49,971 over the same period in 2020. The spike means better profits for the Gulf Cartel, which tightly controls access and use of border crossings throughout the Valley.
The cartel has not abandoned another staple commodity, narcotics. Over the past weekend, more than $200,000 in cocaine washed up along Padre Island. On Thursday, $500,000 in marijuana was seized in two separate smuggling events.
According to CBP, the Border Patrol is on pace to arrest more migrants this year than at any time in the previous two decades. The volume of unaccompanied migrant children and family units require hours of humanitarian care and deplete the time agents have to spend on patrol. This exacerbates any cohesive efforts to deny and disrupt cartel narcotics smuggling operations. The strain also increases the likelihood of migrants avoiding detection and apprehension.
