BLM Supports the Cuban Regime Oppressors
And turns its back on the suffering of Afro-Cuban blacks.
2 commentsBlack Lives Matter (BLM) reaffirmed its Marxist credentials by defending Cuba’s Communist dictatorship after the regime faced the largest street protests to its oppressive rule in decades. The protesters should be angry at the United States, not the Communist regime, for the Cuban people’s suffering, according to BLM and its radical left comrades.
Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, Inc. charged that the U.S. economic sanctions are “at the heart of Cuba’s current crisis." It praised the Communist regime for supporting "oppressed peoples of African descent." BLM was thrilled that the regime provided refuge to "Black revolutionaries like Assata Shakur” (aka JoAnne Chesimard, who was convicted of being an accomplice in the 1973 killing of a New Jersey State Trooper, escaped prison, and then fled to Cuba).
BLM is so invested in weaponizing its Marxist/Critical Race Theory dogma against the United States that it willfully ignores the Cuban regime’s pernicious treatment of its own black population, consisting of dark-skinned Cubans of African descent. These blacks are invisible in Cuba’s corridors of power, where whites and lighter skinned mulattos, who consider themselves white, are in charge.
The fact is that black lives don’t much matter in Communist Cuba. And BLM is supporting Cuba’s mostly white racist oppressors against the oppressed, including most notably Afro-Cubans.
Fidel Castro’s revolutionary movement was white man-led from the start. Ironically, Fulgencio Batista, whom Castro and his mass murderer henchman Che Guevara overthrew, was the first person of color to have served as Cuba’s president.
The radical left’s hero, Che Guevara, was an outright racist. He was also a rabid homophobe.
Guevara wrote in his 1952 diary: “The black is indolent and a dreamer; spending his meager wage on frivolity or drink; the European has a tradition of work and saving, which has pursued him as far as this corner of America and drives him to advance himself, even independently of his own individual aspirations.”
After the revolution that toppled Batista, Guevara said, "We're going to do for blacks exactly what blacks did for the revolution. By which I mean: nothing."
Guevara did claim to espouse racial equality following the revolution. Guevara put a twist on the notion of anti-racial discrimination in his own evil way by torturing and executing the perceived “enemies” of the revolution indiscriminately.
Blacks have remained at the bottom of the Cuban socioeconomic pyramid, despite all of Fidel Castro’s empty promises to end the entrenched racism in Cuba after he took over the country. Racial disparities became even more pronounced after the collapse of the Soviet Union resulted in the drying up of vital Soviet subsidies that had propped up Cuba’s economy. Blacks live in the worst housing in Cuba and occupy the worst-paying jobs, with virtually no opportunity for advancement.
Henry Louis Gates Jr., the Alphonse Fletcher University Professor and founding director of the Hutchins Center for African and African American Research at Harvard University, visited Cuba a number of years ago to see for himself what conditions were like for blacks living in Cuba. A journalist, Tato Quiñones, who had lived in Cuba in 1989, when the Soviet Union collapsed, told Professor Gates that “There is racial discrimination in Cuba. It gets worse every day—more apparent and more shameless.” Quiñones, who passed away last year, supported the anti-racism movement in Cuba with his research and activism.
Professor Gates also spoke with Tomás Fernandez Robaina, a professor at the University of Havana who has written extensively on Afro-Cuban issues. “Prejudice and humiliation make some people reject the fact that they are black,” Robaina said in response to Gates’ question about whether Afro-Cubans do face racism after Gates had encountered blacks who would not admit to that fact.
The failure of Fidel Castro’s Communist government to deal effectively with racism in Cuba, as Castro had promised, didn’t stop Black Lives Matter from eulogizing Castro as a hero following his death. “We are feeling many things as we awaken to a world without Fidel Castro,” the Black Lives Matter Global Network said in a statement. “There is an overwhelming sense of loss, complicated by fear and anxiety.”
The Communist regime likes to pose as the friend of the “oppressed” blacks of the world. BLM thanked Fidel Castro in its eulogy “for holding Mama Assata Shakur, who continues to inspire us.” But the regime’s generous protection of black “revolutionaries” in its own image is in sharp contrast to the regime’s incarceration of its own black population. One report on Cuba, for example, estimated that Cuba’s prisoner population in 2014 was approximately 80 percent black.
In a 2017 study by a Cuban dissident group entitled Denial, Exclusion and Repression, the Citizens’ Committee for Racial Integration (CIR) documented at least 145 cases of human rights violations against black Afro-Cubans. One of the CIR members explained that the study found a “marked inequality of opportunity” for black Cubans of African descent resulting from “structural racism” imposed by the mostly white Communist leadership.
The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) issued a report on February 3, 2020 noting that “the Afro-Cuban LGBTI population is disproportionately impacted by intersecting discrimination on the basis of ethnoracial origin, diverse sexual orientation, and gender identity.” The report added, “In general, the IACHR draws attention to the particular violation of the rights of Afro-Cubans in the areas of health, housing, unemployment, and access to clean water and sanitation services.”
Citing the CIR’s 2017 report, the IACHR wrote that “Afro-Cuban human rights activists reportedly suffer constant restrictions on their rights.”
In November 2020, the Cuban regime arbitrarily arrested the Afro-Cuban activist Juan Antonio Madrazo Luna, who is the national coordinator of CIR, and confiscated two computers as well as other property. Two other CIR members were also detained.
The real revolutionaries in Cuba today are Afro-Cuban blacks speaking truth to power. Young Afro-Cubans have used art and music to express publicly their disgust with the sclerotic racist regime that oppresses the very people the Communists falsely claim to champion.
The San Isidro Movement represents the leading edge of the Afro-Cuban youth rebellion that erupted in massive street protests throughout the country on July 11th. Rappers belonging to the movement participated in the song and video of “Patria y Vida” (“Homeland and Life”), which was released in February 2021 and became the anthem of the July 11th protesters.
The movement and the song uniquely represent “an Afro-descendant protagonism that demands fundamental transformations of the Cuban political order,” wrote Shawna Street in an opinion piece entitled “San Isidro Movement: Cuba: racism and repression” for LightHome. Street wrote this piece a little more than a month before the July 11th protests.
The regime is so afraid of the song’s message and the momentum of the San Isidro Movement that it arrested the movement’s leader, Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara, last May. The regime also arrested several rappers on vague charges of “contempt” or “disobedience.”
The arrests didn’t stop the protesters on July 11th from chanting the Patria y Vida lyrics. Indeed, the government crackdown against the San Isidro Movement leader and rappers only fired up the protesters, who proclaimed “we are not afraid” as they marched through the streets of Cuba against the regime. The protesters shouted “Libertad!” and waved American flags. The regime’s thugs retaliated by arresting, beating, abducting, and even shooting at protesters. And the government shut down the Internet in the country to prevent Cuban people disgusted with the Communist dictatorship’s iron rule from readily communicating with each other. But some protests are reportedly continuing and the tide is turning against the regime.
Black Lives Matter’s leadership could not care less about the suffering endured by the Afro-Cuban blacks languishing in Cuba. BLM is supporting the oppressors, not the oppressed, placing BLM on the wrong side of history.
WHAT? NO BLACK LIVES
MATTER HERE???
IT'S TIME TO PUT ASIDE THE POLITICALLY CORRECT BULLSHIT. BLACKS ARE THE MOST RACIST AND VIOLENT SUBCULTURE IN THE WORLD.
Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s Chicago to Dispatch Mental Health Experts on 911 Calls Instead of Cops
Mental health professionals paired with paramedics will replace cops on some Chicago 911 calls in a first for Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s troubled city.
The Chicago Times reports in one future pilot program, a paramedic will be dispatched alongside a mental health clinician for “behavioral health calls.”
In another, a paramedic will work with a “recovery specialist” on calls involving substance abuse.
The response restructure comes as Chicago Police pension board figures reveal more cops have left the force so far in 2021 than did in the whole of 2018.
In total, 363 officers retired between January and June compared to 339 in 2018, as crime continues to soar across the city.
The number of homicides and shootings in Chicago spiked dramatically in 2020, ending with more bloodshed than in all but one year in more than two decades, as Breitbart News reported.
After three years of falling homicide totals, 2020 ended with 769 homicides — 274 more than the previous year and the most since the 784 homicides in 2016.
Last year ended with 4,033 shooting victims compared with 2,598 the year before.
Mental health clinicians feel the new arrangements can offset those front line loses and casualties as they will be on hand at the 911 center to monitor situations.
Just how well these new responders will be able to de-escalate violence that can erupt during such calls is yet to be explained or demonstrated.
The Times outlines the new programs underwite a “public health approach” to responding to 911 calls.
“We’re super excited,” said Alex Heaton, Lightfoot’s policy adviser for public safety. “This is a brand new workforce for the city, and it’s an exciting opportunity to use a public health approach for people likely to come in contact with the first responder system.”
The teams will start responding to calls in August, with the rollout coming in the wake of a recent visit to the city by President Joe Biden who ignored the blight of gun violence.
The $3.5 million plan — called Crisis Assistance Response and Engagement — was made public in a June 29 meeting of the mayor’s Violence Prevention Planning Committee.
Heaton said he hopes the program will get people the help they need instead of just having them spend time in police custody, according to the Times story.”

WATCH: Man Allegedly Shoots Teen Outside NYC 99 Cent Store
Police are searching for a man who allegedly fired a gun at a 16-year-old on a Queens sidewalk Sunday, hitting him in the leg.
The incident happened at Merrick Boulevard near 111th Avenue in Jamaica at approximately 2:20 p.m., officers said, according to PIX 11.
“The unidentified man approached the teenager with a gun before shooting him in the right leg,” the outlet stated.
The New York City Police Department’s (NYPD) Crime Stoppers posted the surveillance footage Monday evening showing the man wearing a dark shirt and ripped up pants chase the teen around a brick column.
Moments later, the teenager ran away and the man appeared to shoot at him:
The victim was later transported to a local hospital.
“The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries, but, according to sources, has not been cooperative with investigators,” the New York Post reported.
Meanwhile, Breitbart News reported July 6, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) announced the launch of the Office of Gun Violence Prevention.
“The office is part of Cuomo’s effort to flatten the curve of gun violence, which is raging in New York City despite the state’s stringent gun controls,” the article said:
Cuomo also announced the creation of the Office of Gun Violence Prevention, which “will be overseen by the New York State Department of Health and led by a Governor-appointed Gun Violence Prevention Coordinator who will coordinate an all-of-government approach to ensure that state and local programs are advancing unified gun violence prevention strategies.”
He also noted that a “Gun Trafficking Interdiction Unit within the New York State Police” is being launched. The focus of the trafficking interdiction unit will be on guns from out of state.
Blaming guns from outside his state has for a long time been one of Cuomo’s talking points, the outlet said.
“On September 17, 2015, he suggested New York’s surging gun violence was not his fault or proof of the failure of gun control, but was the fault of states ‘down south,'” the report concluded.
Exclusive: Wealthy Suburb Wanting ‘Divorce’ from Crime-Ridden Atlanta Will Get Senate Hearing
The Georgia Senate plans to grant the Buckhead City proposal a hearing during its upcoming special session, a sign that the push for the wealthy district to deannex from Atlanta is continuing its momentum.
Bill sponsor Sen. Brandon Beach (R-Alpharetta), who has served in the state legislature’s upper chamber for ten years, told Breitbart News he has “never seen” Buckhead cityhood gain so much traction before.
The deannexation idea is not new, having been floated by local officials and residents on and off again for at least a decade. However, the passage of a pair of introductory cityhood bills in the Georgia General Assembly this past spring has given the effort newfound validation. Beach said surging crime numbers are driving the support for it.
“I’ve got Senate leadership behind it, and I’ve got a lot of really high-powered folks that are interested in making sure we get this thing moving forward,” Beach said.
Sen. Lee Anderson (R-Grovetown), chairman of the State and Local Government Operations Committee, confirmed to Breitbart News he plans to schedule a committee hearing for the legislation next time the Senate convenes, which is expected to be in late fall for a special session for redistricting.
The goal of the organization leading the cityhood effort, the Buckhead City Committee, is to earn a spot on next year’s ballot so that Buckhead’s roughly 90,000 residents can formally vote on it.
Buckhead City Committee spawned from residents’ frustrations over crime rates in the area and has evolved in recent months into a serious effort that has backing from many Republican state lawmakers, including Beach and Anderson, and, according to committee CEO Bill White, substantial fundraising abilities.
“The money is a leading indicator in my book,” White told Breitbart News.
He detailed the price tags of several upcoming events designed to fundraise for Buckhead City. One gentleman hosting a local event is anticipating ten attendees at $25,000 per head, while another is hosting a dinner at his home for four couples at a similar cost. The committee in September will have a 75-person event at Bones, a fancy local steakhouse, and White said that event has already raised $75,000. A committee board member hosting an event in October expects that one to generate half a million dollars.
“I think by October we’ll have another million dollars on the books. That’s what our plan is,” White said.
The committee head moved to the affluent district with his husband a few years ago from New York, where he had been CEO of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum for about 20 years. He said he has been disturbed by the “brazenness” of the criminal behavior as of late, pointing to a high murder rate, home invasions while residents are home, and a recent police warning of “bump and robs.”
“Our [agenda], which is irrespective of politics, is just taking control back of our city,” White said in June.
Buckhead has often been ranked one of the wealthiest communities in the south and is home to an abundance of expensive retail, shiny new office buildings, and upscale neighborhoods. An Atlanta Journal-Constitution analysis assessed that a hypothetical Buckhead City would be 74 percent white and have an average median income of around $140,000, and that the city would take with it about 40 percent of Atlanta’s entire value.
Beach warned, “The city of Atlanta’s going to fight this. They’re going to fight it tooth and nail because this is a big portion of their tax collection, and the people have always been okay with that as long as they felt like they were getting a return on their investment, but when you’re not getting public safety, and you’ve got potholes and your trash isn’t being picked up and you’re not getting any services, people say, ‘Hey we want to take control and control our own destiny,’ if you will.”
Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms (D), who is opposed to Buckhead’s deannexation, restated Friday at a press conference about anti-violence initiatives that the “current wave of violent crime” in her city is a “COVID crime wave.” She reasserted that Georgia reopening earlier than other states last year caused more people to flock to Georgia, which she claimed correlated to the uptick in crime.
Bottoms made similar comments in April at the Buckhead Rotary Club as she addressed deannexation, saying, “In creating a new city, you’re not building a wall around the city.” She contended, “It doesn’t address crime,” and added that the way to correct the “COVID crime wave” is to “continue to work together as we have done for decades, as a city, as one city.”
White, however, argued a lack of proper police resources was the source of the crime spike. He said there is “no leadership here in Atlanta” and called Bottoms the “worst mayor in history.”
He compared Buckhead’s deannexation to a divorce, saying, “At a certain point you realize you have — literally they call it ‘irreconcilable differences’ — and the only way to civilly handle that is to file for divorce in a marriage.”

Ben Carson: Critical Race Theory Is About Creating Division and Strife That Allows Control
Former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson slammed the teaching of Critical Race Theory to children during a speech at Turning Point USA’s Student Action Summit on Sunday.
“Critical race theory, the 1619 Project, what is that really about? It’s about dividing people. It’s about creating the kind of division and strife that allows control. We’ve all heard the phrase, ‘divide and conquer.’ That’s what it’s about,” he said.
He said kids should be taught that slavery was not unique to the United States, but that the U.S. is unique in that it fought a civil war to end it.
“Slavery is not unique to the United States of America,” he said. “There’s been slavery since there’s been societies in the world and today there are more slaves in the world than there were in 1863 when the Emancipation Proclamation was put forth.”
“It was a horrible, horrible institution, but we are not unique in that sense. We were unique in another sense — we were willing to fight a civil war to stop it. That makes us very unique. And that’s what we should be teaching our children,” he said.
“Yes, it was horrible, but that we had enough people with the moral rectitude to recognize that this was not something that we could stand for no matter what the economic gains were, and there were people who were willing to give their lives to stop such a horrible institution from flourishing in our country,” he added.
Carson also slammed other things kids are being taught today in schools, particularly about coronavirus, and that they must wear masks otherwise they could kill their grandparents.
“And can you imagine the poor little children these days? You gotta wear a mask to go to school. Even when you’re very young and you’re learning how to look at people’s facial expressions and correlate that to what they’re saying. Now you can’t even look at their facial expressions — that’s a big sociological problem,” he said.
“And then you’re told you may be carrying some horrible disease and even though you may not be sick you might give it to your grandmother and she might die. Well guess what, unfortunately, grandmothers do die. But now you got this kid feeling guilty that somehow he’s responsible for it,” he said.
Carson said on top of that, if the kid is white, they are taught that they and their ancestors created all the problems in society and that they are horrible people, and if they are a minority, they are permanent victims — all while they are trying to develop a self-image.
“What would that do to a young person? And if that’s not enough, you may not be a girl or a boy. Now how are you supposed to develop an appropriate self image with all of this coming at you?” he asked rhetorically.
