All of this is, if we can be permitted to use Biden’s catchphrase, “malarkey.” Harris has already proven herself as a trusted servant of the interests of the rich and powerful at the expense of the working class. The Wall Street Journal wrote last week that Wall Street financers had breathed a “sigh of relief” at Biden’s pick of Harris. Industry publication American Banker noted that her steadiest stream of campaign funding has come from financial industry professionals and their most trusted law firms.
There is something fitting in the selection of Harris to co-lead the Democrats’ ticket. The response of the Democrats to the mass multi-racial and multi-ethnic protests against police violence that erupted earlier this year was to divert them into the politics of racial division, using the reactionary and false claim that what was involved was a conflict between “white America” and “black America,” rather than a conflict between the working class and capitalism.

Kamala Harris is paradoxically the strongest vice president in generations and the weakest.
The Biden administration is officially the Biden-Harris administration, Kamala has received a raft of important assignments covering everything from illegal migration to election rigging, and the man at the top was suggesting that he might just stay one term before stepping down for her.
Before the election, Biden’s people were quoting him as saying, “I want to find a running mate I can turn things over to after four years.” Kamala isn’t that mate because Biden more recently announced, “My plan is to run for reelection.” So much for the Biden-Harris administration.
Poll numbers show that Kamala remains unpopular and administration officials keep leaking damaging materials about her to a media that appears curiously eager to run with them.
The campaign is the work of Biden’s allies who have calculated that the more they weaken Kamala, the less likely their boss will face pressure to step down on her behalf. Kamala Harris went from embodying the woke cultural moment as the first black woman in the White House to recapitulating her humiliating primary race in which she raised $36 million and dropped out without even trying to compete in a single primary election while blaming racism.
Kamala isn’t completely wrong.
Biden made a pledge to pick a black woman for the second spot. His advisors chose a political nemesis whom he had beaten before, not because she was strong, but because she was weak.
A black woman with strong ties to the black establishment or to the Left would have mobilized major political and cultural pressure on Biden to step aside in her favor. Even a black politician with a track record of likability and good poll numbers might have forced Biden to stand down.
So he picked Kamala who has few ties to the black establishment and is hated by the Left.
Black Democrats liked Biden a whole lot more than they liked Kamala which is why black voters ignored her busing debate stunt. Kamala tried to win over the Left by flip-flopping on socialized medicine even as lefty Twitter mocked her as an insincere phony who couldn’t be trusted.
They were right.
Kamala has no constituency. Aside from a small base of social media fans, many of whom are probably paid bots, there’s no part of the Democrat voting base that’s enthusiastic about her.
How could someone become a member of the Senate and then enter the White House without a constituency? To paraphrase Don King, “Only in California.” California politics were shaped by Willie Brown’s proteges like Kamala, Gov. Gavin Newsom, and Mayor London Breed. Democrats consolidated control over much of the state while elevating officials through patronage, radical politics, and mega-donor money. This new breed of politicians had little to fear from elections that were effectively decided long before the votes were ever cast.
This new breed of California politicians was incredibly weak at the basics of retail politics.
It’s not just Kamala. Newsom proved to be a weak and unpopular figurehead who’s facing a recall. London Breed is struggling in San Francisco. Ed Lee, her predecessor, would probably be under indictment if he were still alive. Weak figureheads were convenient for Willie Brown, but created a generation of untested politicians nurtured by a corrupt one-party state.
Kamala is representative of California Democrats who outside the hothouse of their one-party state don’t know how to actually campaign, debate, or do anything except pose for photos.
A generation of California Democrats don’t know how to compete because they’ve never had to.
Kamala isn’t the new Obama. He built deep roots with the Chicago Democrat machine and with its activist Left. Kamala never bothered to do things like that because she never had to. California is every bit as corrupt as Chicago, but much less competitive. Kamala got to the Senate because she made the right connections with powerful donors and political bosses without ever learning to connect with voters or the factions whose passion drives turnout.
In California, you don’t need turnout. Just a ‘D’ next to your name and some ballot harvesting.
California donors shelled out millions expecting Kamala to perform like the new Obama without realizing that she lacked the activist base, the preparation, or the black voters. Obama was able to win over black voters from the Clintons because he had invested time and energy into the Chicago black community through radicals like Jeremiah Wright. He dumped his white girlfriend and married Michelle because he was already preparing for a bigger political career.
Meanwhile, Kamala was shacking up in the white estates of Brentwood with her white lawyer entertainment husband and is officially a member of a San Francisco church that’s barely open.
That’s why Obama stole black voters from Hillary (but not after a lot of work and resentment from the black establishment which continued to support the Clintons), but Kamala couldn’t steal black voters from Biden. It’s also why Biden picked her after proving he didn’t need her.
Kamala didn’t rise through the ranks because she was a pioneer shattering glass ceilings, but because she was a convenient cutout for a series of dirty men from Willie Brown to Joe Biden. They didn’t elevate her because she was good at anything, but because she posed no threat.
In D.C., Kamala is isolated from her donors and whatever supporters she has back home. And the Democrats who practice hardball politics there are working her over to keep her down. The smear campaigns will depress her poll numbers and the Biden administration will keep handing her thankless roles, like illegal migration, that can only hurt her to make sure she doesn’t run.
None of this is advanced politics, but it says something about Kamala that she can’t handle it.
It also says a great deal about California politics that the state whose donors finance the Democrat campaigns of the country are producing some of the most mediocre political talent around. The state machine replaced Kamala with Alex Padilla, Julian Castro’s presidential campaign was almost as much of a laughingstock as Kamala’s and LA's Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, once hailed as the future of the party aimlessly circles politics with nowhere to go. That's a brighter fate than current Mayor Eric Garcetti who has been shipped off to India.
California Democrats, like Soviet apparatchiks or EU comissars, oversee a corrupt bureaucracy which excels at stealing billions from taxpayers, but lack basic charisma and campaign skills.
If you want someone to allocate billions to build housing for the homeless or light rail that will never exist, or crack down on Christians on behalf of Planned Parenthood, California Democrats are on the job. But if you want competence or at least campaign skills, look elsewhere.
Kamala, like much of this new elite, is vaguely diverse and very ambitious, the product of a black father she hardly knew and an Indian cancer researcher mother, but lacking any real community or meaningful religious connections, inculcated with leftist politics at an early age, she knows all the slogans, but like late-era Communist bosses doesn’t really believe them.
After a long wasted life in politics, Kamala has no religion, no family, and has become the embodiment of the Peter Principle, promoted vastly above her competence, looking at a job that she can almost touch with her manicured hands, but will never be allowed to possess.

The close collaboration between the US Treasury, the Federal Reserve and the multi-billion dollar asset management firm Blackrock in devising the March 2020 rescue operation for Wall Street has been revealed in an article published in the New York Times yesterday.
According to the article, Larry Fink, the CEO of Blackrock, the world’s biggest asset management firm, was “in frequent touch” with US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Fed chair Jerome Powell “in the days before and after many of the Fed’s emergency programs were announced in late March.”

The extent of the collaboration is revealed in new emails obtain by the newspaper together with information that has been previously made public.
In one newly obtained email, Fink refers to planning for the rescue measures as “the project” that he and the Fed were “working on together.”
As the article notes, “America’s top economic officials were in constant contact with a Wall Street executive whose firm stood to benefit financially from the rescue,” showing “how intertwined Blackrock has become with the federal government.”
Blackrock’s close collaboration with the Fed and Treasury came at a crucial point in the development of a crisis in financial markets which began with the onset of the pandemic in March and fears in corporate circles over the response in the working class amid walkouts by workers insisting that safety measures be out in place.
The Fed responded to the initial turbulence in the markets by cutting interest rates. But these measures proved to be insufficient and the potential for a major meltdown in the markets emerged in the week ending March 20 when the $21 trillion US Treasury bond market—the bedrock of the US and global financial system—froze.
Instead of providing a “safe haven” for investors it moved to the centre of the crisis as Treasuries were sold off and no buyers could be found as the sell-off extended to all areas of the financial system.
Faced with a disaster when the markets re-opened, Mnuchin, Powell and Fink were engaged in a series of discussions over the weekend of March 21–22 to devise a rescue package. According to the Times report, Mnuchin spoke to Fink five times over the two days, more than anyone else, other than Powell with whom he spoke nine times.
One of the most significant features of the rescue measures announced on Monday March 23 was the decision by the Fed, for the first time ever, to buy corporate bonds which, as the Times noted, “were becoming nearly impossible to sell as investors sprinted to convert their holdings to cash.”
Blackrock had already closely collaborated with the Fed developing its response to the 2008 financial crisis was thereby set to play a key role in the March intervention.
The article pointed out that, while Blackrock signed a non-disclosure agreement on March 22 restricting officials from sharing information about the upcoming measures, the way in which the rescue package was devised “mattered to Blackrock.”
The decision of the Fed to buy corporate bonds and provide an underpinning for the market was significant and involved two key areas of Blackrock’s operations. One of the ways it makes profit is by managing money for clients charging a preset fee. But assets under management were contracting as investors went for cash and its business model was under threat.
Blackrock is also a major player in the short-term debt markets which were coming “under intense stress” as investors moved their holdings to cash.
Electronic Traded Funds (ETFs), which track market indexes but which trade like a stock, were also severely impacted.
In the words of the Times article: “Corporate bonds were difficult to trade and near impossible to issue in mid-March 2020. Prices on some high-grade corporate ETFs, including one of Blackrock’s, were out of whack relative to the value of the underlying assets.”
As Gregg Gelenzis, associate director for economic policy at the Center for American Progress told the Times: “This was the first time that ETFs came under stress in a really systemic way.”
In the rescue package the Fed committed itself to buying already existing debt as well as new bonds and also decided it would purchase ETFs with the result that the “bond market and fund recovery was nearly instant.”
As the Times article notes, while practically all of Wall Street benefited from the Fed’s intervention, and other financial firms were “consulted” apart from Blackrock “no other company was as front and center.”
The closeness of the relationship between Blackrock and the financial and economic arms of the state, the US Treasury and the Fed, were highlighted in a comment by William Birdthistle, of the Chicago-Kent College of Law and the author of a book on funds, cited in the article.
He said Blackrock was “about as close to a government arm as you can be, without being the Federal Reserve.”
The Fed makes every effort to cover up that relationship in order to try to preserve the fiction that it is not beholden to Wall Street and operates as an independent public authority concerned above all with the state of the economy and the welfare of the population.
The Times article recalled a news conference in July 2020 in which Powell was asked about the discussions with Fink.
“I can’t recall exactly what those conversations were,” he said, “but they would have been about what he is seeing in the market and things like that.
He said there were not “very many” conversations and that the Blackrock chief was “typically trying to make sure that we are getting good service from the company he founded the leads.”
Powell’s claim that, in the midst of the most significant crisis since the meltdown of 2008—with a potential to go even further, as the freeze in the Treasury market showed—he could not recall those conversations simply does not pass muster.
The value of every crisis, it has been rightly said, is that it reveals the real relations that are obscured and covered over in “normal” times.
And that is the case here. The economic arms of the capitalist state are not some independent authority but function every day in the interests of the corporate and financial oligarchy, servicing its needs and interests above all else.
Kamala Harris can't keep staff
Steven Hayward at Power Line has a prescient observation about the unflattering exposé of Kamala Harris that ran in The Atlantic two days ago:

Harris has been an elected official for 18 years straight, but she has only a few senior aides on staff who have worked for her for more than a few months. Turf battles have been a recurring feature of Harris offices over the years, but her newest circle believes it is finally getting her on track after years of past staffers not serving her well. Some have been surprised at how much work there is to be done, whether that's briefing her on certain policy issues or helping her improve her sparring-with-journalists skills.
The problem isn't "turf battles." It is always a bad sign when a politician can't good keep staff (or any staff), and Harris has long been known for being a terrible boss, going back to her time as California Attorney General. When you can't keep eager political staff ...
Briefing her on policy issues? Hard to do when she's such a lazy person, interested only in wokester posturing, talking about her "story," posing for Vogue photo spreads, thrilling the crochet circles, or whining about her home decorating dilemmas. Policy to Kamala is for the birds.
Hayward is right about politicians who can't keep good staff on hand and that being a bad reflection on their capacity to lead. Eric Hoffer once noted that the reason Stalin was able to best Trotsky for the supreme leadership of the Soviet dictatorship was because of his capacity to retain the loyalty of a group of able lieutenants. Kamala, while certainly wanting to be dictator of a vast left-wing empire, same as Stalin, hasn't grasped that critical element that allows such things to happen to whoever eventually ends up being the most equal animal. Biden has — he has some very long-serving lieutenants, such as secretary of state Tony Blinken, and he seems to have forged some kind of closeness to far-left Susan Rice from the Obama administration days, too. There are plenty of others. Kamala, though, seems to be poison to staff, and apparently, they flee when they get a chance to flee. She's got a big staff — 184 people, based on this listing from Legistorm, a site about politicians.
Here's one — you can click on any, I clicked on this one — Christian Carolina Becerra, a contributor to Teen Vogue whose bio says she's a budding politician of the leftist stripe, and a Kamala Harris alum, not staffer, according to her apparent Twitter bio. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know her, but I notice she doesn't advertise that Kamala experience high on her LinkedIn page, making me wonder if she got the heck out of Dodge from Kamala's crew and doesn't want to talk about it anymore.
Two things leap out from past news stories about Harris that might explain why she is so baleful to staff that they get out of their positions as if it were a garage filling with carbon monoxide as an idle engine runs.
One, she seems to hire a lot of crummy people in top posts.
Recall that she hired a top aide for law enforcement matters during her days as California's attorney general named Larry Wallace, whose sexual harassment escapades included making young staffers in dresses crawl down under his desk to "fix his printer" so that he could ogle their underwear — so the sex harassment suits that followed said. According to Fox News:
A senior adviser to U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., resigned Wednesday over inquiries about a $400,000 harassment lawsuit against him while working at the California Department of Justice.
Larry Wallace resigned after the Sacramento Bee asked about the 2017 settlement, the paper reported.
"We were unaware of this issue and take accusations of harassment extremely seriously," Harris spokeswoman Lily Adams said. "This evening, Mr. Wallace offered his resignation to the senator, and she accepted it."
There was a $400,000 payout for those, courtesy of the California taxpayers, yet Kamala claimed to know nothing. So she hired a guy like this, yet knew so little about what this guy was doing in the office she was supposed to be in charge of that the staff got harmed. And that's only assuming she told the truth about her ignorance of the matter; there's certainly a loud argument that she didn't. How many other creeps like this has she hired? Anybody asking? She sure as heck doesn't pay attention to what such people do to the staff. It's not unimaginable to wonder if there are other kinds of bad bosses among these Kamala staffers, sexual creeps, or maybe just corrupt, or mean people, hired by Kamala herself, given her own penchant for inattention and corner-cutting of her own. The leader sets the example.
Two, she seems to treat her staff badly on the compensation front. Here's a piece about how aides forced to transfer to Iowa to save her flailing presidential campaign, after voters decided that the more they heard from her, the less they liked her, were told to expect a salary cut. Way to motivate them, Kams.
Three, her management style is completely chaotic, making any operation she's involved with a crony affair at best. Her sister Maya is apparently the go-to person according to assorted negative reports in the press. Staff disarray was the big factor preceding her dropout from the U.S. presidential election in late 2019, with Kamala not winning a single delegate in the primaries, and certainly no victory of any kind in Iowa. The Kamala crew apparently ganged up on one staffer, campaign manager Juan Rodriguez, blaming him for all of Kamala's errors while denying him any credit for things he did right. Who'd want to work for someone like that?
Seems that being around Kamala is a hideous experience, given the slew of news stories coming out.
This raises another question: why is the mainstream press seemingly bringing out all these negative stories about Kamala? Might it be that the media realize they've got a lemon in her when they manage to push senile old Joe out to pasture and need a replacement? Could be most anything — best thing to do now is watch for that motive.

Harris is no friend of religious liberty. While high, this number is not an outlier: a recent study by the Heritage Foundation found that low-skilled immigrants (including those here illegally) cost Americans trillions over the course of their lifetimes, and a study from the National Economics Editorial found that illegal immigration costs America over $140 billion annually.
