The Three Horsemen of the Bidenapocalypse

In the Bible, there were four horsemen of the apocalypse -- sword, famine, wild beasts, and plague. In the Biden Administration, there are three events spelling the doom of this administration and the Democrats: open border policy, inflation, and coercive unscientific public health measures. Catering to the party’s far left has poised the Democrats over a cliff from which I see no soft landing. Without backing off, they’ve lost the favor of the nation. But backing off will fracture the party and cost it its most fervent leftist wing -- indeed, its most strident supporters are already demanding more.

Biden’s popularity sinks more every week and Harris’s is not much better. Rasmussen reports the latest poll shows that 47% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Biden’s job performance. Fifty-one percent (51%) disapprove. The two polls on Harris’s favorability last week show her disapproval ratings edged out the approvals as well.

The Immigration Debacle

It’s only going to get worse for the administration. While the major media have downplayed the size of the stream of illegal aliens crossing the border, they cannot hide forever the tens of thousands of illegal crossings each month and that the tide keeps growing geometrically. Here’s a video of Congressman James Langford detailing the tsunami into this country.

After dithering for months, Harris, who was tasked by Biden with dealing with this, came out with an absurd and limp proposal -- asking U.S. corporations with facilities in Central America to be generous to local employees and adding more legal pathways to immigration.

As Langford points out, however, the border jumpers hail from 100 countries all around the globe, so blaming this on employment conditions in Central America doesn’t wash. Neither would adding more legal pathways seem to be sufficient to persuade thousands of people from 100 countries to go home and wait for such unlikely legislation to be enacted and even longer to take force.

Texas has ordered troops to stop NGOs and others from transporting illegals through the state. Only law enforcement officials will be allowed to do this. Despite the absence of federal action to enforce immigration law effectively, Attorney General Merrick Garland is threatening judicial injunctive relief to prevent such state action. Should he follow through on his threat I foresee a public relations backlash and a humiliating judicial loss.

Notably, many of these illegals seem to be suffering from COVID-19 and yet they are being released by border agents and housed by federally compensated non-government outfits like Catholic Charities in unsuspecting communities. This at the very same time that the CDC, Biden, mayors, some businesses, and institutions are mandating vaccinations and even masking for those fully vaccinated, along with related restrictions. You have to be an idiot not to see the cognitive dissonance in these discordant policies.

The Biden Inflation

You also have to be an idiot to believe that cheap borrowing and flooding the nation with federal funds will not lead to inflation, especially when coupled with regulatory actions certain to raise prices. Or to believe that it will be of short duration.

The U.S. Department of Commerce revealed that a key inflation metric rose to its highest level since the early 1990s. Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index -- which the Federal Reserve uses as a key guide for monetary policy decisions -- has risen 4% between June 2020 and June 2021.

Nestle’s, the world’s largest food company reports inflation is causing it to raise food prices. Other food and beverage producers are also lifting prices.  Residential housing prices are soaring and there seems to be no rational reason to believe this will change soon.  In large part due to Biden’s moronic energy policies, gasoline prices keep rising.  I can’t imagine strapped families will miss the correlation between the administration’s actions and their diminishing resources.

Coercive (and Inconsistent) COVID policies

Is your head spinning from the CDC diktats? It should be. Jim Treacher summarizes the reasons why.

We got some new COVID-19 rules yesterday. They were different than the rules we got the day before that, and I assume they’re different than the rules we’ll get tomorrow.

To recap:

  1. Absolutely do not wear a mask
  2. You must, must, must wear a mask or you’re killing Grandma
  3. Don’t leave the house or you’re killing Grandma
  4. If you can’t avoid leaving the house, stay at least six feet away from any other human being you see or you’re killing Grandma
  5. Wash your hands 20 times a day
  6. Do not touch your face or anything else, ever
  7. Get vaccinated so you don’t have to wear a mask
  8. You have to wear a mask even if you’re vaccinated
  9. When the above rules change, and then change back, and then change back again, shut up about it or you’re a stupid MAGA-head
  10. Don’t forget to vote Democrat.

The satire site Babylon Bee nails it.

“This whole pandemic has been bizarre for us,” said CDC spokesman Dexter Park. “Normally, we put out recommendations like only cook a steak well-done and only fry eggs over-hard, and people don’t even pay enough attention to make fun of us, so people acting like what we say during the pandemic matters is really confusing.”

The CDC is a group of bureaucrats used to working a 9-to-5 job of complete pointlessness, making lists of recommendations that are fated to be crumpled up and thrown in a wastepaper basket. Thus, the pandemic turning them into experts whose opinions matter has caught them completely by surprise.

“People keep saying our suggestions on masking are dumb and make no sense,” said CDC regulator Lyle Howell. “But that’s all of our suggestions on everything. We have to keep making recommendations, though, to justify our existence and get a budget. But no one listens to them -- not even us. So can’t you all just go back to ignoring us and stop yelling at us? I’m just here until I get my pension.”

Martin Kulldorff, a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and a biostatistician and epidemiologist at the Brigham and Women's Hospital has listed 12 principles of public health policy all of which are in contravention of the administration's policies.

#1 Public health is about all health outcomes, not just a single disease like #COVID19. It is important to also consider harms from public health measures. #totalharms collateralglobal.org @collateralglbl

#2 Public health is about the long term rather than the short term. Spring #COVID19 #lockdowns simply delayed and postponed the pandemic to the fall. thelancet.com/journals/lance… @JohanGiesecke

#3 Public health is about everyone. It should not be used to shift the burden of disease from the affluent to the less affluent, as the #COVID19 #lockdowns have done.

#4 Public health is global. Public health scientists need to consider the global impact of their recommendations.
apnews.com/article/lifest… @lhinnant @sammednick

#5 Risks and harms cannot be completely eliminated, but they can be reduced. Elimination and zero-COVID strategies backfire, making things worse.
theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/… @JuliaLMarcus

#6 Public health should focus on high-risk populations. For #COVID19, many standard public health measures were never used to protect high-risk older people, leading to unnecessary deaths.

#7 While contact tracing and isolation is critically important for some infectious diseases, it is futile and counterproductive for common infections such as influenza and #COVID19inference-review.com/article/on-the… @MikkoPackalen

#8 A case is only a case if a person is sick. Mass testing asymptomatic individuals is harmful to public health.

#9 Public health is about trust. To gain the trust of the public, public health officials and the media must be honest and trust the public. Shaming and fear should never be used in a pandemic. thehill.com/opinion/health… @camakridis

#10 Public health scientists and officials must be honest with what is not known. For example, epidemic models should be run with the whole range of plausible input parameters.

#11 In public health, open civilized debate is profoundly critical. Censoring, silencing and smearing leads to fear of speaking, herd thinking and distrust. scientificamerican.com/article/the-co… @JeanneLenzer1

#12 It is important for public health scientists and officials to listen to the public, who are living the public health consequences. This pandemic has proved that many non-epidemiologists understand public health better than some epidemiologists.

If you doubt that the administration is getting blowback from this constant, inconsistent, and unscientific messaging, maybe this will persuade you. Friday, after the CDC announced that even vaccinated people should mask, it stopped holding promised coronavirus briefings. Several federal unions  which are a significant part of the Biden base, threatened court challenges to the requirement that both federal employees and federal contractors must “attest to their vaccination status and regularly submit to testing if not vaccinated.”

Montana’s legislature has banned any vaccination mandate and Texas’s governor Greg Abbott has banned any mask or vaccination mandate. I anticipate growing resistance.

It’s hard to justify any additional government mandates for masking and there is little reason to mask outside hospitals and nursing homes. I see no constitutional basis for the government to compel vaccinations.  COVID mortality is down, natural immunity is up, there are easy, rapid treatments for early-stage infections. Despite scare reports about the Delta variant, it is weaker than the original and is likely to vanish in a matter of weeks in the way of such things. At the moment, only about .0007% of vaccinated U.S. residents have died as a result of COVID.  It makes no sense to restrict the lives of vaccinated people in an effort to shield the unvaccinated. The more the administration tries to restrict movement and liberty on such a basis, the more pushback it will receive and the lower its approval ratings. By dropping the CDC briefings, I think they're telegraphing that they're finally getting the message: We aren't buying any more of this shuck and jive.

Texas Democrat County Judge Invites Biden to Border to ‘Witness Challenges’ He Created

A Texas Democrat border county judge is inviting President Joe Biden to visit the border and “witness first-hand the challenges being created by current policy.”  On Friday afternoon, Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez sent a letter to President Biden inviting him to the region and expressing a need for “immediate and decisive action” in dealing with the ongoing surge in immigration.

In his letter, Judge Cortez asked for federal manpower and resources claiming that while he is sympathetic to the plight of “asylum-seekers,” the government needs to address their needs in a safe manner without putting at risk the well-being of his community. In Texas, a county judge is the chief executive officer for the county’s government.

The letter comes after a week of controversy began when La Joya Police Department issued a health alert after discovering a group of COVID-19 positive migrants eating at a Whataburger and not staying in quarantine. As Breitbart Texas reported, the migrants told police that they had been released by U.S. Border Patrol after testing positive for COVID-19. That group and several other migrants were staying at a local hotel in La Joya that was being paid for by Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley (CCRGV).

Soon after, the City of Weslaco sent out a statement requesting a meeting with CCRGV after learning the charity was using a hotel there to also house sick migrants, Breitbart Texas reported. Cortez also sent a statement calling out Biden’s Department of Homeland Security over the release of sick migrants into the community asking them to stop the practice.

In response to the controversy, Texas Governor Greg Abbott ordered state troopers to stop any civilian vehicles being used to move migrants. The order placed him squarely at odds with the Biden administration.

Cortez is one of the border county judges that had opposed a disaster declaration issued by Governor Abbott claiming that crime in the area had not risen to the level that would merit such a measure.

The judge’s apparent flip flop on border issues received some backlash from Monica De La Cruz Hernandez, a Republican activist turned candidate for U.S. Congress in South Texas.

Poll: Increasing Number Disapprove of Biden’s Handling of the Economy

An increasing number of Americans disapprove of President Joe Biden’s handling of the economy, an Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research survey revealed.

The survey asked respondents, “overall, do you approve or disapprove of the way Joe Biden is handling the economy?”

The most current figures show 52 percent of Americans approving and 47 disapproving. However, this represents an 8-point change from the results in March, which showed 39 percent disapproving and 60 percent approving. Biden’s disapproving rate continued to rise, reaching 42 percent in April and 47 percent in June.

Similar trends can be seen in other aspects of his approval ratings. For instance, current numbers show 66 percent approving of Biden’s response to the Chinese coronavirus pandemic and 33 percent disapproving. However, 29 percent disapproved in February, representing a 4-point change in the last few months.

Respondents were also asked to gauge how they currently view the economy. A majority, 54 percent, chose “very/somewhat/lean toward” poor, while 45 percent chose “very/somewhat/lean toward good.”

Notably, Americans had very positive views of the economy prior to the Chinese coronavirus pandemic, with 67 percent leaning towards good in January 2020, only to plummet to 39 percent in March that same year.

The survey, taken July 15-19, 2021, among 1,308 adults, has a margin of error of +/- 3.7 percent.

President Biden signaled he will follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), even if it calls for lockdowns yet again:

“We listen to the CDC, the experts, and their guidance,” Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said when asked if Biden would support future lockdowns. “The CDC is a body that is very well respected and we follow their guidance.”

Jean-Pierre said Americans should trust Biden’s administration “because we listen to the scientists, we listen to the experts.”

oe Biden’s DHS Deports 147 Migrants, Admits Thousands Daily

President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Friday flew 147 border migrants back to their original home.

But the two flights returned just one migrant for every 560 migrants who were allowed into the United States during the one month of June.  In June, 84,000 people were recorded crossing the Mexican border, alongside at least 50,000 migrants who sneaked across the border.

The Washington Post reported July 30:

Two deportation flights operated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement departed Brownsville, Tex., with 73 family members, according to DHS officials, far fewer than the 147 adults and children who were originally slated to travel.

“One plane went to Guatemala and the other to Honduras and El Salvador,” said the article, which was headlined “Biden resumes fast-track deportation flights for migrant families.”

There is little evidence that the well-publicized July 30 deportations will deter the rising tide of global migrants who expect to get through Biden’s wide-open border. Among migrants, “there is this feeling of a green light at the border,” Democrat Rep. Henry Cuellar )D-TX) told the Washington Post on July 29.

The repatriations are a rare exception from the Biden policy of importing many immigrants through many side-doors in the border, often in disregard of the nation’s immigration law. Every day in July, roughly 6,000 migrants are arriving at the border. For example, 845 migrants arrived on July 27 in the Rio Grande Valley sector of the border.  Almost half are allowed into the United.

Since January, DHS officials have allowed roughly 600,000 economic migrants across the border and into U.S. workplaces, neighborhoods, and schools, alongside the normal inflow of legal migrants and visa workers.

The July 30 deportation of the 147 migrants described by the Washington Post is an unexpected revival of a process that was created by Trump’s deputies and minimized by Biden’s deputies after January 2021. According to the Post:

Authorities carried out the deportations using a procedure known as Electronic Nationality Verification that allows them to determine migrants’ country of origin through biometric information-sharing programs. The procedure, also known as “no-doc flights,” allows ICE to deport migrants who cross the border without passports or identification.

The government-approved inflow of foreign workers comes as employers demand more migrant workers to end the labor shortage that is forcing them to pay higher wages to recruit and keep Americans.

The administration’s support for wage-cutting migration was underlined July 28 with the release of a plan to extract more workers, consumers, and centers from Central American for use by U.S. companies.

“What you’ll hear about today is collaborative migration management with regional partners and addressing the root causes of migration,” according to a White House transcript of a closed-door July 28 briefing to a few reporters by a “senior administration official.” The official continued:

So, success in building a fair, orderly, and humane immigration system won’t come overnight, but we do have a blueprint to get us there … That’s a centerpiece of the CMMS that — is, you know, very ambitiously expanding access to legal pathways, both to the United States and to various other countries.  And we’re doing a lot of work already to try to bring other countries to the table to multiply the number of legal pathways — countries like Canada, Costa Rica, Spain, and elsewhere.  There’s actually a lot of momentum on that front, and it’s very encouraging.

[…]

So, we’re really excited.  And again, just to note, this is the first of its kind, and I think we really believe that with the combination of ambitious root causes and migration management strategy that we really and truly have an impact in this region.

In general, legal and illegal migration moves wealth from employees to employers, from families to investors, from young to old, from children to their parents, from homebuyers to investors, from technology to stoop labor.

The White House has been accused of “purposely” not showing what deportations have occured because “they don’t want to offend the left and activists.”

Volume 90%

Biden’s decision to restart the economic extraction of valuable consumers, renters, and workers from poor countries also helps to move wealth — and social status — from heartland red states to the coastal blue states. Within each state, the extraction policy also helps to move wealth and status from GOP rural districts to Democrat cities.

Unsurprisingly, a lopsided majority of Americans oppose labor migration.

Exclusive: Migrants Detained Outdoors as West Texas Border Sector Hits Capacity

Migrant detention facilities in West Texas, already exceeding capacity, were forced to close their doors to migrants on Saturday as they have exceeded the physical space to take in more. The increasing surge of migrants in the Del Rio Sector forced Border Patrol officials to resort to outdoor detention under the Del Rio International Bridge along the banks of the Rio Grande River.

The migrant surge in Del Rio brought hundreds of mostly Haitian and Venezuelan migrants entering the city illegally on a daily basis, Breitbart Texas reported. Border Patrol agents are met each morning by hundreds of migrants crossing the shallow Rio Grande near the bridge and surrendering to law enforcement officials. The vast numbers are crippling the Border Patrol’s ability to arrest, transport, and process the migrants efficiently and humanely.

Border Patrol Stations in the area have exceeded their capacity to the extent that there is no physical space to hold even one more migrant, according to a source operating under the umbrella of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. On Saturday, migrants could be seen under the bridge being guarded by Border Patrol agents in lieu of being transported to the overcrowded facilities. The migrants are being held beyond the border fence and away from public view.

Border Patrol officials set up a command post near the bridge to assist in supervising the migrants and set up temporary toilet facilities in the area. The temperature outdoors exceeded 100 degrees on Saturday. It is unknown how long the Border Patrol will have to resort to outdoor detention with the surge of migrants hitting levels not seen more than 20 years.

Complicating the matter is an executive order signed by Texas Governor Greg Abbott that restricts commercial or private transportation of the migrants on Texas highways due to the COVID-19 pandemic. One local non-profit shelter in Eagle Pass, Texas, refused to admit more migrants due to the order. The shelter assists the migrants with transportation into the interior of the United States.

More than 10,000 in the Rio Grandy Valley alone.

“At this point, the system seems to be broken beyond repair. We just don’t have the staffing and resourccording to a source within CBP, who wishes to remain anonymous, the Border Patrol throughout Texas is facing a crisis never seen before. “This is definitely a situation that rises beyond a crisis. It’s a disaster in the making,” the source says. The Border Patrol in Del Rio is currently in the number two spot nationwide for migrant apprehensions, averaging more than 1,000 arrests per day.

This fiscal year, which began in October 2020, the Del Rio Sector apprehended more than 149,000 migrants. This figure represents a 503% increase compared to the same time period last year. The source says more than 17,000 migrants are currently being detained by the Border Patrol. ces to sustain this surge” the source explained. “Our Agents are frustrated. They are working six-day weeks just to try and get ahead of this crisis and it’s not working. The situation gets worse every day.”

The source says timing could not be worse for the Border Patrol with the reemergence of COVID-19 infections in the area. “It is impossible to socially distance when you are so overcrowded, our facilities are a breeding ground for the virus” the source concluded.
