Obama Lies, Cashill Corrects
In November 2020, Barack Obama released his newest memoir, A Promised Land. Now, hot on his heels, comes Jack Cashill's Barack Obama's Promised Land: Deplorables Need Not Apply, a savvy and ever-diligent effort to prevent fake news from becoming fake history.
Unsurprisingly, many of Obama's newly offered truths are woefully inconsistent with those he formerly foisted on us. I've lost track of whether this is version 1.2, 2.1, or 3.0. In any event, we have yet another layer of Obama's ipse dixits to add to his earlier ones, undoubtedly also likewise intended to be gospel and therefore ineligible for further questioning. (Fat chance!)
Thankfully, truth warrior Jack Cashill, the original Obamologist, continues to remind us of the earlier versions that Obama provided so we can track the layers of obfuscation, the fake corrections, and stick with the only reality that can be documented so far.
Cashill's book also provides the omitted context within which to evaluate Obama's claims. The thirty-plus chapters address such issues as the curiously still evolving purported facts of Obama's childhood, the as-yet unanswered questions about Obama's birth date and location, and related smokescreens.
And, on a broader, macro-level where we all actually live and suffer the consequences of governmental malfeasance, the book covers topics including Obama's role in the origins of the subprime lending disaster and resulting damage to the economy. There's also some cui bono analysis of Obama-supporters who thrived while the populace did not.
I applaud Cashill for continuing to fight the good fight. Maybe, someday, future historians will be able to prove the real Obama life. Alas, I have only guarded optimism since truth is disappearing at lightning speed. Even the archives at the Wayback Machine, Vanity Fair, and Justia have been compromised, edited ex post facto, since initial posting on the internet. So I don't know what future historians will be able to trust as source material.
My pessimism is exacerbated by unrelenting destruction of the historical record of Democrats' formerly defended racist acts and crime in the destruction of statues "associated" with slavery, oddly enough removing some of the worst Democrat offenders in history from public view. But one can only hope and stay the course.
As a side note, I first noticed Obama, as did much of the country, when he spoke at the televised 2004 Democrat National Convention in Boston. I thought he was attractive and well-spoken. Unlike Joe Biden, I wasn't stunned that a black male could be both, having many such males as classmates, friends, and colleagues. But I also heard rumors, from friends who were active in the Democrat party in Massachusetts, about an "unusual" array of bodyguards at the convention who surrounded Obama to whisk him away from reporters.
I had no dog in the fight — not likely to vote Democrat anyway — but was interested in anyone who could possibly prevent Hillary from becoming the next Democrat presidential candidate. As hapless and ineffectual as Obama was as president, some of us thank him for winning the candidacy from Hillary, fearing that she would have been even worse.
So I became curious about Obama and looked into him further. I was gobsmacked to see that his famous and moving speech, the speech he later claimed to have written himself, was in fact given much earlier by Deval Patrick — essentially word for word, with similar cadence and hand gestures.
In other words, the speech had been choreographed and scripted by, and for, an earlier politician, yet Obama was given unquestioned credit for its originality by the complicit media. I waited for the mainstream reporters to do the same YouTube search I had and report on that impossible coincidence.
I'm still waiting, though Seacoastonline.com reported on it on January 13, 2008 ("Obama using parts of Deval Patrick's campaign") — and noted that David Axelrod had worked for Obama's U.S. Senate campaign, in 2004, and was a media consultant for Patrick in 2006. This might explain the recycling of the speech but not Obama's lie about writing it himself.
Cashill's book notes many instances of similar unlikely authorship claims by Obama.
So I realized, very early on, that Obama was a fraud. A faker. A Famous Amos, but without the free cookie samples. At least Amos worked hard to build his brand, an entrepreneur who arguably merited his success. Yet Obama, being "broke" and "nearly 40," rode someone else's recipe for him into the Oval Office only eight years later.
How? Who provided the seed capital that created a Barack Hussein Obama? Why isn't that the major story about Obama? Who "selected" him — using the verb that the Reverend Jeremiah Wright insisted was accurate? And for what quid pro quo?
We still have almost no answers to that critical part of the creation story.
Even David Mamet, the playwright and scholar of the long con, would have found Obama's meteoric rise implausible. And we're still asking the same questions about him that went unanswered over a decade ago. The media are still covering for him, and we are still denied the right to know who was shoved into the White House, by whom, at our expense.
Our best hope for demanding higher standards of integrity from the politicians who purport to work for us will occur only when their ability to lie to us becomes impossible...when we can demand and expect the truth so we can make informed decisions when we vote.
So I deeply value the truth-seekers who slog through the mud for bits of truth and follow the bits where they lead. And share their efforts with us for the common weal. The best of these, in my opinion, is the original Obamologist, Jack Cashill.

Big Media belatedly catching on to Obama’s phoniness
New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd stirred up something of a tweet storm in leftist quarters last weekend with a hit piece on Barack Obama’s super spreader birthday bash, titled, without subtlety, “Behold Barack Antoinette.”
The reference, of course, is to Marie Antionette, the soon-to-beheaded French queen who reportedly dissed the revolutionary masses with her classic brush off, “Let them eat cake.”
In reading the column I found myself amused at Dowd’s discovery that Obama is “a diffident debutante with a distaste for politics.” Given the access to power provided by her lofty perch at the Times, I had to ask myself, ‘how had it taken her so long to grasp the obvious?’
In comparing Obama to F. Scott Fitzgerald’s party-giving Jay Gatsby, Dowd writes, “Barack Obama gave a big, lavish, new-money party at his sprawling mansion on the water because he wanted to seem cool. Being cool is important to him. One difference is that Gatsby opened his house to the uninvited.”
Had Ms. Dowd simply looked at the cover of my new book, Barack Obama’s Promised Land: Deplorables Need Not Apply, she would have known that her thesis is not original. Barack Obama’s “promised land” had no room for the uninvited or the “disinvitado,” let alone the deplorables.
Some background. In Obama’s 2020 memoir A Promised Land, he expressed his fears of climate change at great length. “I pictured caravans of lost souls wandering a cracked earth in search of arable land,” he wrote, “regular Katrina-sized catastrophes across every continent, island nations swallowed up by the sea.”
Wrote I in response, “Yet despite these fears, Obama somehow found the courage to buy a seaside estate that gobbled at least three times the energy of the average American home. The purchase calls to mind another memorable quote from a doomed French royal, ‘Qu’ils mangent de la brioche.’ Let them eat cake.”
I am not accusing Dowd of lifting this metaphor, although she is quite capable of lifting metaphors and worse. In May 2009, for instance, Dowd was accused of pilfering a paragraph from the blog of Talking Points Memo editor, Josh Marshall.
I read Dowd’s response before I saw the purloined paragraph. “I was talking to a friend of mine Friday about what I was writing,” Dowd began. This friend, Dowd continued, “suggested I make this point, expressing it in a cogent -- and I assumed spontaneous -- way and I wanted to weave the idea into my column.” Reading this, one might expect Dowd’s passage to be a rough paraphrase of Marshall’s. No, not so rough. Here is what Dowd wrote:

Granted, Dowd is a plagiarist and a liar, but then again, all plagiarists lie when caught. I am confident, however, that she did not borrow from me because she, like her mainstream peers, would never deign to read, let alone lift, anything from what I call the “American samizdat” -- that is, the largely conservative blogs, public forums, news aggregators, online publications, talk radio shows, and the like that sniffed out the fraud in the Obama ascendancy long before the rot became too pungent to ignore.
For years people like Dowd served as Obama’s Praetorian Guard. They routinely defamed opposition journalists, mocked their work, exposed their past sins, trivialized their information, and twisted their facts, all the while remaining wonderfully and willfully blind to the grift the Obamas were running on America, Michelle even more so than Barack.
As early as June 2010, however, Dowd began to realize she’d been had. On the occasion of the Gulf oil mess, the Pulitzer Prize-winner confessed her own naiveté.
In "Dreams From My Father," Obama showed passion, lyricism, empathy and an exquisite understanding of character and psychological context--all the qualities that he has stubbornly resisted showing as president. It was a book that promised a president who could see into the hearts of other people. But there's so much you don't learn about candidates in campaigns, even when they seem completely exposed.
Had Ms. Dowd read American Thinker in October 2008, she could have spared herself two more years of delusion. Obama was as much a literary fraud as she was. Not only did he likely plagiarize sections of Dreams, but he also passed of as his own writing done by others. Even worse, he did not live the life he said he lived.
Like Jay Gatsby, Obama reinvented his life and crafted for himself a new persona. Wrote Pulitzer Prize winner David Garrow in his 2017 Obama biography, Rising Star, Dreams “was not a memoir or an autobiography; it was instead, in multitudinous ways, without any question a work of historical fiction.”
Obama’s A Promised Land is nearly as fictional as Dreams. The title itself deceives. To be sure, the Obamas found a “promised land” of their own, manifest most showily in their Martha’s Vineyard hideaway. But the title refers to the promised land to which Obama’s was supposed to lead the “Joshua generation,” the post–Jim Crow generation of African Americans.
Tragically, they never got close. The dilettante Obama led these unfortunate souls deeper, much deeper, into the wilderness. Just how deep is evident in the Twitter responses to Dowd’s column. Some samples off the top:

The President and his top economic advisers bought the “too big to fail” concept, the notion that regardless of how profligate, irresponsible, even criminal, heads of the leading financial institutions in America had been, it would be worse for the nation if those institutions were to collapse. Consequently, while pushing a legislative agenda of public bail-outs, the Obama Administration maintained a secret program of multi-trillion dollar loans, including billions at below market interest rates. The principal recipients of the funding were JPMorgan, Bank of America, Citigroup Inc., Wells Fargo & Co., Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Morgan Stanley.
Practically every cabinet appointee of Obama’s has close personal connections to the ruling class, many having come directly from corporate boardrooms. Under Obama’s watch not a single executive at a major financial firm has been criminally tried, much less sent to jail, for their role in the financial crisis.

Trump criticized Dimon (Obama’s fave bankster donor) in 2013 for supposedly contributing to the country’s economic downturn. “I’m not Jamie Dimon, who pays $13 billion to settle a case and then pays $11 billion to settle a case and who I think is the worst banker in the United States,” he told reporters.
“Records show that four out of Obama's top five contributors are employees of financial industry giants - Goldman Sachs ($571,330), UBS AG ($364,806), JPMorgan Chase ($362,207) and Citigroup ($358,054).”
JPMorgan’s investment arm, which includes its energy group, collects $14 billion annually; in comparison, six months’ worth of fines would amount to a paltry $180 million.
The new financial disclosures reveal that top Obama advisors directly involved in setting these policies have received millions from Wall Street firms, including those that have received huge taxpayer bailouts.
He is rather typical of the Wall Street insiders who comprise a cabinet and White House team that is filled with multi-millionaires, presided over by a president who parlayed his own political career into a multi-million-dollar fortune.

The latest research on wealth inequality by University of California economics professor Gabriel Zucman underscores one of the key social and economic trends since the global financial crisis of 2008. Those at the very top of society, who benefited directly from the orgy of speculation that led to the crash, have seen their wealth accumulate at an even faster rate, while the mass of the population has suffered a major decline.
The past 40 years have seen the consolidation of a plutocratic elite, which has subordinated every aspect of American society to a single goal: amassing ever more colossal amounts of personal wealth. The top one percent have captured all of the increase in national income over the past two decades, and all of the increase in national wealth since the 2008 crash.

A key factor in Obama’s newfound and growing wealth are those who profited from his presidency. A number of his public speeches have been given to big Wall Street firms and investors. Obama has given at least nine speeches to Cantor Fitzgerald, a large investment and commercial real estate firm, and other high-end corporations. According to records, each speech has been at least $400,000 a clip.
