How the New Texas Abortion Law Is Very American
The title of a recent MSN article by Felicia Sonmez reads, "Biden says restrictive new Texas abortion law is 'almost un-American.'" This comes from the same Joe Biden who, during a campaign speech (courtesy of Fox News) he gave in March of 2020, tried to quote the Declaration of Independence by saying, "We hold these truths to be self-evident. All men and women created, by the, go, you know, you know...the thing." Perhaps if Biden had known the thing he was quoting, he would have known that the Declaration of Independence actually declares, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness," and he would have therefore known that rather than being un-American, the Texas abortion law, in seeking to protect the lives of the unborn, approaches the very perfection of that sublime, and very American, ideal.
I say the new Texas abortion law approaches the very perfection of that sublime, very American ideal because it is not perfect; it falls short of being the epitome of the American ideal that all men are created with the unalienable right to life. As reported by NBC News's Chloe Atkins, the new law, "bans abortion once cardiac activity is detected, as early as six weeks into a pregnancy," which gives a six-week window of time during which the life of the unborn child is in jeopardy. Regardless, it is a step in the right direction: toward securing the unalienable right to life, which is the purpose of government, something else that Biden would have known had he been more familiar with "the thing."
So if the Texas abortion law is very American, as has been proven, what does that make those who criticize it? While we cannot say that it makes them very un-American, it certainly makes one question their Americanism, or at least their knowledge and grasp of the values and ideals that define America.
There will be those who, in spite of the very American nature of the new Texas abortion law, will argue that anti-abortion laws violate a woman's right to do what she pleases with her own body. The logic behind this argument is absurd. Anti-abortion laws prevent her from ending the life of the human growing inside her; they do nothing to prevent her from doing what she chooses with her own body. Want to enjoy a large sugary drink? She can do that. Desiring a tattoo? That's your prerogative. Thinking about changing your hairstyle, or want to exercise and eat right to attain a healthier weight? Nothing is stopping you. Anti-abortion laws do not stop a woman from doing something to her body. Anti-abortion laws only stop her from doing a very specific something (killing) to the body of her unborn child. The fact that her child is in its prenatal stage of development and therefore resides, temporarily, within her womb does not diminish the child's right to life. Furthermore, once the child is born and enters the infant stage of development, it will still require nourishment, shelter, and nurturing, as it will throughout early childhood, adolescence, young adulthood, and even adulthood.
It is illegal to murder anyone who has been born. It should be not at all different for the unborn, who are no less human for being in the initial stages of development.
There will also be those who will argue that as a man, I have no knowledge or authority to speak on the topic of abortion, which again is absurd. I am not a tree, nor a cloud, nor an ancient Egyptian pharaoh, but that does not stop me from knowing and speaking about the nature of trees, clouds, and ancient Egyptian pharaohs. After all, what good is history, science, philosophy, and divine revelation if they allowed us to gain insight only into our own nature? And what does this you-must-be-like-me-to-speak-or-do-anything-that-affects-me tripe say to the thousands of men who became OB/GYNs and the millions of women who seek their professional services? I wonder if this same platitude holds true for the male abortionists in the world.
Lastly, there are those who will argue that by preventing a woman from obtaining a safe abortion, she will be forced to seek unsafe abortions in unlicensed facilities, as if having a license or credential magically prevents a practitioner from making a mistake or doing something to the detriment of the person seeking services, either inadvertently or purposefully. As for being forced to seek unsafe abortions, no one is forcing her to do anything. In fact, all that is required of her is that she support and nurture the life of her unborn child, at least until the child is born and can be placed for adoption should she and the child's father no longer desire to care for or raise the child. The fact that she became pregnant in the first place is, in the vast majority of cases, a consequence of willful, voluntary behavior. She made a conscious decision, and decisions have consequences.
Contrary to what Joe Biden said, Texas passed a very American law that brings all of us closer to the very American ideal of securing the unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Because of Texas and like-minded state legislatures, and the millions of voters who put them in office with a mandate to protect life and ensure justice for the unborn, the future of America just got a little brighter with the beaming faces of countless children who otherwise might not have been. Although the U.S. Supreme Court has refused to block the new law, as reported by ABC News's Devin Dwyer, it is a foregone conclusion that the Court will be taking a closer look at this case in the near future. Let us all pray that they make the right decision, the very American decision to uphold the very American ideal that all people are endowed, upon their creation, with the unalienable right to life. Let it never be said that America abandoned the defenseless, for that, President Biden, would indeed be very un-American.

Abortion: The Animating Sacrament of the Left
The Texas abortion law and the reaction to it has shone a spotlight on the fact that abortion is the primary animating force for the left, a sacrament of a sort that drives both their priorities and energy.
The celebrity crowd had the Taliban on their mind and rushed to see who could make the most absurd comparisons. The craziest of these takes argued that women in Texas had it worse than those living under the Taliban, whose idea of a woman’s right is the right to be killed by a male for violating his sense of honor.
That great thinker of yesteryear, Dan Rather, noted that “the same people attacking the Biden Administration for leaving women’s rights behind in Afghanistan are eager to control women’s bodies and choices in the United States.” Last I checked, the criticism directed at the administration was about leaving Americans behind but such distinctions get lost on the “fake but accurate” crowd.
Consider the reaction of the false conservatives who rushed to obscurity during President Trump’s Administration.
The always noxious Bill Kristol tweeted out a quote from an article in something called The Bulwark by Jonathan Last that read, “The pro-choice movement makes many arguments which I find unconvincing. But one thing they have always said is that pro-lifers really just want to control women’s bodies. And part of me thinks that this is probably right.”
The pure slanderous insanity involved in that sentiment is staggering. I’ve never known a single pro-life American, many of whom are women, who cares one bit about control over a woman’s body, but every one of them has a profound respect for the sacredness of life and believe in protecting the most innocent lives.
More often than not, it is the denizens of the left, people like Bill Clinton, Harvey Weinstein, and Andrew Cuomo, who seem to have a rather strong desire to have absolute control over women’s bodies, even as they buy immunity by spouting platitudes on the glories of abortion.
It is always interesting to watch the conversion of a “conservative” to the leftist religion, which seems to happen somewhat regularly when weak principles collide with the cultural power and temptations of the left.
A key moment in the conversion of a former “conservative” involves showing fealty to the sacrament that binds together their new tribe, and they usually do it as loudly as possible to ensure that their new friends embrace them. This is why these “conservative” converts, ala Jennifer Rubin, usually sound even crazier than the long-time denizens of the left.
In what read like a parody, the Satantic Temple joined the fight. They apparently established an abortion ritual which the Texas law threatens. These Satanists see abortion as a form of worship that needs protecting.
In the letter they sent to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, they wrote, “The battle for abortion rights is largely a battle of competing religious viewpoints, and our viewpoint is that the nonviable fetus is part of the impregnated host is fortunately protected under Religious Liberty laws.”
That “nonviable fetus” has a heartbeat at a bare minimum and is often fully viable at the time of abortion, suffering only from a mere few inches of geography that allows the baby’s life to be taken. One of the challenges the abortion movement has is that technology has advanced since 1973, making it nearly impossible to maintain the fiction that the choice they champion does not consist of the taking of a life. But, for the Satanists, this is a feature.
On one point, I would agree with them. There is very much a spiritual component to this discussion, which is why there is so much fervor on the left, a religious fervor that cannot be understood apart from the demonic influence that drives it.
It is easy to understand why pro-life Americans feel rather strongly about the issue. If an abortion involves the killing of an innocent life, what could be more important than opposing it?
But it is far harder to understand why somebody would celebrate this killing with such fervor. The fervor that is on full display goes far beyond any belief in protecting a euphemistic right to choice, where the choice in question is deemed immaterial and wished away under an undefined blanket category of “women’s rights.”
At least the Satanists are honest about what they are trying to protect. But the Satanists can sleep better knowing that they have a champion in the White House happy to take up their cause.
Biden promised to launch a “whole of government” approach, spearheaded by the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Justice to ensure that this sacrament is not disrupted.
He noted, “One reason I became the first president in history to create a Gender Policy Council was to be prepared to react to such assaults on women’s rights.”
Whoever is putting the words in Biden’s mouth has no concern prioritizing American tax dollars to champion that which many of those taxpayers consider most abhorrent.
This is the top issue for the Democrat cultural establishment and most of their other issues can be better understood within that context. For example, it wasn’t President Trump’s tweets that horrified them.
What bothered Democrats the most was the reshaping of the bench. The judges being appointed were of the type who might happen to notice that there is no right to an abortion enshrined in the Constitution, even if there is a clear right to life that was central to the Declaration of Independence.
It’s also why anybody who justified the primal hatred towards the Trump Administration as being a proper response to his “unique” presidency was missing the point that the same level of evil vitriol would be vomited at any president threatening this unholy pillar or the power of the left. The left uses any means, legal or illegal, to secure absolute power. But what and who that absolute power is serving is even more important.
To proffer a purely rhetorical question, do they care enough about this issue to steal elections?
It’s why they continue to fantasize about expanding the Supreme Court and would do it in a heartbeat if they had enough political power to do so.
It’s one of the reasons that they relentlessly pound racial politics to try to hold on to voters who are out of synch with their insane policies.
Byron York noted how the rising percentage of Hispanic Americans voting for the Republican party is a mortal threat to the Democrats’ dream of locking in power.
Many of these voters are pro-life, embrace freedom, and liked what they were seeing from the Trump administration as opposed to the cultural insanity being offered by the Democrats.
Without the ability to provide policies that will appeal to these voters and with increasing difficulty in hiding their insane policy preferences, Democrats scare voters into voting for them by constantly declaring their opponents to be racists. A Balkanized America is a small price to pay in service to their power and goals.
I don’t know what will ultimately become of the Texas law. But it has again shown the sacrosanct importance of abortion to the Democrat party. And in that sense, it has already accomplished a great service for America.
Pelosi’s Archbishop: ‘You Cannot Be a Good Catholic and Support Expanding a…Right to Kill Innocent Human Beings’

Catholic Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco, the diocese where House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) resides, published a commentary in the Washington Post on Sunday stating that you cannot be a good Catholic and support the killing of unborn children through abortion.
“You cannot be a good Catholic and support expanding a government-approved right to kill innocent human beings,” said Cordileone. “The answer to crisis pregnancies is not violence but love, for both mother and child.”
Cordileone specifically addressed the response of both Pelosi and President Biden—both of who profess to be Catholics—to Supreme Court’s refusal to issue an injunction against a Texas law that bans the abortion of babies who have a detectable heartbeat.
“Prominent politicians lost no time in reacting hyperbolically to the Supreme Court’s decision refusing to enjoin Texas’s new law banning abortions after the detection of a fetal heartbeat,” said Cordileone. “President Biden announced a “whole-of-government effort” to find ways to overcome the Texas measure. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) denounced the Supreme Court’s refusal as a ‘cowardly, dark-of-night decision to uphold a flagrantly unconstitutional assault on women’s rights and health,’ and promised new legal action: ‘This ban necessitates codifying Roe v. Wade’ in federal law.
“As a faith leader in the Catholic community, I find it especially disturbing that so many of the politicians on the wrong side of the preeminent human rights issue of our time are self-professed Catholics,” said Cordileone.

The Satanic Temple Rallies Against Texas Abortion Law
Pro-choicers can now count The Satanic Temple among their list of allies in the fight against the recent anti-abortion law in Texas.
Two years after challenging a pro-life law in Missouri, the satanic group that claims to be little more than a collection of theatrical atheists have now “filed a letter with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration arguing that its Texas members should have legal access to abortion pills,” according to the San Antonio Current.
In the letter addressed to the FDA, Lucien Greaves, the Temple’s spokesman and cofounder, argued that the abortion drugs Misoprostol and Mifepristone should be allowed under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) so as to be used in what the Temple referred to as their “Abortion Rituals.”
I am sure Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton — who famously spends a good deal of his time composing press releases about Religious Liberty issues in other states — will be proud to see that Texas’s robust Religious Liberty laws, which he so vociferously champions, will prevent future Abortion Rituals from being interrupted by superfluous government restrictions meant only to shame and harass those seeking an abortion.

The Satanic Temple previously cited the Religious Freedom Restoration Act to overturn a set of pro-life laws in Missouri, but the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear it.

The Satanic Temple bills itself as a non-theistic organization dedicated to reason and uses Satanic imagery as little more than a tool to troll Christians. Its website states:
The mission of The Satanic Temple is to encourage benevolence and empathy among all people, reject tyrannical authority, advocate practical common sense, oppose injustice, and undertake noble pursuits. The Satanic Temple has publicly confronted hate groups, fought for the abolition of corporal punishment in public schools, applied for equal representation when religious installations are placed on public property, provided religious exemption and legal protection against laws that unscientifically restrict women’s reproductive autonomy, exposed harmful pseudo-scientific practitioners in mental health care, organized clubs alongside other religious after-school clubs in schools besieged by proselytizing organizations, and engaged in other advocacy in accordance with our tenets.
Last Wednesday, the Supreme Court decided 5-4 not to block the Lone Star State’s new law banning most abortions after six weeks of pregnancy, while allowing citizens to sue abortion providers and anyone who aids in abortion for up to $10,000 in damages.
