Chuck Todd: ‘Shocking’ NBC Poll Shows 71% Believe U.S. Is on Wrong Track — ‘Scary News for the Democrats’
NBC anchor Chuck Todd debuted a new poll on Sunday’s broadcast of “Meet the Press” which showed 71 percent of Americans believe America is on the wrong track.
Todd said, “We have a brand new NBC news poll out this morning still with some scary news for the Democrats. The overarching message, Americans have lost their confidence in President Joe Biden and their optimism for the country. At least they have right now. Just 22% of adults say we are headed in the right direction. A shocking 71% say we’re on the wrong track and that includes a near majority of Democrats who are saying that.”
He continued, “President Biden’s approval rating stands at a dismal 42% versus 54% who disapprove. Believe it or not, just two months ago Mr. Biden was in positive territory, 49 approving. So what’s pulling down the president’s numbers? Look at this set of numbers, just 37% say he has the ability to handle a crisis versus a majority who say he does not. Thirty-seven percent also say he’s competent and effective as president. 50% disagree with that description. What’s more, Republicans, believe it or not, have double-digit leads in dealing with border security, inflation, crime, national security, the economy, and, shockingly, on getting things done. Democrats hold generally smaller double-digit leads on dealing with climate change, the coronavirus, education, and abortion. That’s really it right now.”
Some of the thousands of fans who showed up to see country music superstar Jason Aldean in Tampa, Florida, on Saturday night burst out into “Fuck Joe Biden” chants, video posted to social media shows.
“Country Music Fans chant ‘FJB’ at a Jason Aldean Concert. #FJB#LetsGoBrandon,” one Twitter user said in a tweet, which shows video of the ruckus crowd singing the searing slogan. “You said it” the singer could be heard saying from the stage.

The profane phrase is a familiar refrain for Joe Biden, who’s public approval currently sits at a dismal 39 percent. Indeed the honeymoon for Biden is over and, according to Gallup, his recent 11-point drop in averaged approval in the first ten months of his tenure marks the largest decline in approval during the same point in any presidency since 1953.
Unlike “Fuck Joe Biden” chants, the good news for the president is hard to find. Another 57 percent of Americans say the economy has worsened on Biden’s watch. Some 60 percent of those respondents blame Democrats for the economic decline.
To be sure, a majority of likely voters across every spectrum said they are familiar with the “Fuck Joe Biden” and “Let’s Go Brandon!” chants. And from bars to sporting events to vaccine mandate protests to music concerts, Americans are getting in on the game.

Earlier this year, Jason Aldean cheered on his son wearing a “Hidin’ From Biden” t-shirt, commenting on his wife’s instagram page, saying “My boy!”
A prominent Safeway supermarket in the Castro district of San Francisco is limiting its hours due to rampant shoplifting, the latest example of a retail store closing or limiting its operations in the left-liberal city due to out-of-control petty crime.
Shoppers at the Safeway in San Francisco’s Castro neighborhood will see a noticeable change to the store: It now closes at 9 p.m. due to what one supervisor described as “out of control” shoplifting.
Once open 24 hours a day, the Safeway store on Market and Church streets now has the earliest closing hours of all the Pleasanton-based supermarket chain’s San Francisco storefronts, most of which stay open until midnight.

[San Francisco Supervisor Rafael] Mandelman said theft at the Safeway at 2020 Market Street has been “out of control” and recently met with Safeway representatives “to better understand the issues at this store.” He said he also planned to meet with the San Francisco Police Department and the office of San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin “to see what is currently being done to deter theft at Safeway, and to figure out a plan to do better.”
Earlier this year, Walgreens closed 17 stores in the city due to shoplifting, which skyrocketed after California voters passed Proposition 47, a ballot initiative aimed at criminal justice reform, which reclassified thefts up to $950 as misdemeanors. As a result, such thefts are rarely prosecuted.
The crime spike began under former district attorney George Gascón, who is now district attorney for Los Angeles County, and has continued under Chesa Boudin, who now faces a likely recall election.
