MSNBC’s homophobic host Joy Reid also walked through the strawberry fields, oblivious to the education concerns of voters in Virginia and elsewhere, who objected to McAuliffe’s pre-election comment, “I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.” To the left it’s always about race, even when it isn’t. Fox News reported, “MSNBC's Joy Reid called the issue of education a ‘code’ for White parents who don't want their children to be taught about race during her coverage of the Virginia gubernatorial election Tuesday.” Brian C Joondeph, MD,

At least 36 people were shot, seven of them fatally, Friday into Sunday morning across Mayor Lori Lighfoot’s (D) Chicago.

Seven of the shooting victims succumbed to their wounds, and those seven included an alleged robber who was shot by a 77-year-old concealed carry permit holder Saturday.

Breitbart News noted the permit holder was in his garage about 12:20 Saturday when a car pulled up and an alleged robber exited the vehicle and demanded the permit holder’s belongings. The permit holder opened fire, killing the alleged robber.

ABC 7 / Chicago Sun-Times reports the first shooting fatality of the weekend occurred at 6 p.m. Friday night when a 29-year-old was shot and killed while “driving in the 2100-block of West 71st Street.”

The most recent shooting fatalities included two people who were shot and killed early Sunday morning. One was shot in University Village around 12:10 a.m. and the second individual was shot and killed in Bronzeville about 12:20 a.m.

HeyJackass.com points out 13 people have been shot and killed in Chicago thus far in November and another 47 have been shot and wounded.

A total of 689 have been shot and killed in Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s Chicago year-to-date.

A crush caused by a crowd surge killed at least eight people and wounded several others at rap star Travis Scott’s Astroworld music festival in Texas on Friday night, authorities said.

Officials said the crush began as “the crowd began to compress towards the front of the stage” around 9:00 pm when Scott was performing. There were around 50,000 people in the audience at Houston’s NRG Park.

“That caused some panic and it started causing some injuries, people began to fall out, become unconscious and it created additional panic,” Houston fire chief Samuel Pena said at a press conference.

“We had at least eight confirmed fatalities tonight and scores of individuals that were injured,” he said, adding the cause of death could not be confirmed until after medical exams were completed.

Pena said a total of 17 people were rushed to hospital with 11 of them in “cardiac arrest.”

Watch below:

Scott was on stage when the incident occurred and stopped his act on several occasions when he saw fans in distress near the stage, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Survivors described chaotic scenes of people squeezed up against one another and many struggling to breathe, the Chronicle reported.

“We were hanging on to each other to avoid getting separated,” one survivor said. “If you let go, you could easily drift apart.”

One concert-goer quoted in the paper described carrying a man who had fallen to safety over barricades in the arena and watching paramedics perform CPR.

‘Extremely tragic night’

Senior Harris County official Lina Hidalgo said it was “an extremely tragic night.”

“Our hearts are broken, people go to these events to have a good time, to make memories,” she added.

Watch below:

Houston police are investigating the cause of the incident and looking at video footage from the arena.

“Over the course of just a few minutes, suddenly we had several people down on the ground experience some type of cardiac arrest,” police chief Larry J Satterwhite said.

“We immediately started doing CPR and moving people right then.”

Videos shared on social media showed paramedics resuscitating unconscious fans in the middle of the audience as the concert continued.

Authorities said the rest of the festival, scheduled to continue on Saturday, had been canceled.

Other footage circulating on social media showed scores of people rushing the gates at NRG park with security unable to contain the flow.

Several people could be seen falling over, bringing down the metal detectors at the arena entrance, but it was unclear if that incident was linked to the deaths.

Authorities said more than 300 people were injured throughout the day, including those with minor scrapes and bruises.

The Astroworld music festival was created by Scott and began in 2018.

The 29-year-old rapper, who has a child with celebrity socialite Kylie Jenner, made his breakthrough in 2013 and has had six Grammy nominations.

Other performers scheduled to play the festival over the weekend included the rappers Chief Keef and 21 Savage, as well as the Australian rock act Tame Impala.

During Scott’s headline set late Friday, he was joined onstage by Canadian rap superstar Drake.

New York City fire marshals have arrested a suspect in connection to an alleged arson involving a Molotov cocktail in Brooklyn on October 30.

The incident occurred at NR Rock Deli in the Bedford-Stuyvesant area in Brooklyn, according to the New York Post.

The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) responded to a 7:53 a.m. call regarding the fire and once on scene, the firefighters quickly brought the situation under control, the FDNY stated in a Facebook post.

Fire marshals arrested alleged suspect Joel Mangal, 38, in connection with the alleged arson, according to the department.

FDNY and law enforcement sources say the alleged suspect had an argument with staff, according to the Post.

Surveillance footage from inside the building allegedly shows the incendiary device flying through the door before landing in the corner of the deli area. The alleged Molotov cocktail burst on impact, sending flames over the deli counter’s glass and some surrounding shelves.

Footage from outside of the deli, which the FDNY obtained, allegedly shows the arsonist lighting the first Molotov cocktail and hurling it into the building as two on-lookers jump back in shock. The video allegedly shows the suspect going for a second cocktail and setting it ablaze. As the suspect allegedly prepares to throw the device, a good Samaritan whacks it out of the suspect’s hand. The incendiary device then hit the sidewalk, bursting into flames, the video allegedly shows.

Two deli workers ran out of the store following the alleged attack, and one was treated for injuries that were non-life-threatening, authorities said,  according to the New York Post.

The FDNY provided comments on the incident from the city’s Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro in the department’s Facebook post:

Fortunately, there was no loss of life here. The investigative work from the Explosives and Arson Task Force comprised of our Fire Marshals, the NYPD, and ATF, led to the timely arrest of this suspect who threatened the safety of our communities by using such a cruel and destructive device. FDNY will continue to work alongside local, state and federal partners to bring to justice those who use fire as a weapon against New Yorkers.

Mangal was “charged with Arson, Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, and Criminal Mischief,” according to the FDNY. Brooklyn’s District Attorney’s Office will prosecute the case.

The ongoing shoplifting surge has forced Walgreens to close five more San Francisco stores as local law enforcement continues to do next to nothing to curtail the problem.

In a statement to SF Gate, Walgreens spokesman Phil Caruso confirmed “organized retail crime” has strangled San Francisco stores.

“Organized retail crime continues to be a challenge facing retailers across San Francisco, and we are not immune to that,” Caruso said. “Retail theft across our San Francisco stores has continued to increase in the past few months to five times our chain average.”

“During this time to help combat this issue, we increased our investments in security measures in stores across the city to 46 times our chain average in an effort to provide a safe environment,” he added.

Asha Safai, San Francisco Board of Supervisor for District 11 admitted to feeling “devastated” over the closure a Walgreens store that has “been a staple for seniors, families and children for decades.”

“I am completely devastated by this news – this Walgreens is less than a mile from seven schools and has been a staple for seniors, families and children for decades. This closure will significantly impact this community,” he tweeted.

Safai told SFGate that the shoplifting had crippled the store’s bottom-line and endangered the staff and customers to an unhealthy degree.

“This is a sad day for San Francisco,” Safai said. “We can’t continue to let these anchor institutions close that so many people rely on.”

Shoplifting has skyrocketed in San Francisco recently, likely a result of Proposition 47, which dictates stealing would not be a felony in California if the item stolen did not exceed $950.

The damage has been felt across a range of business outlets.

In May of this year, The San Francisco News described the situation as being “out of control,” noting that 17 Walgreens have had to close in the past five years due to rampant shoplifting in the city.

17 Walgreen locations in San Francisco have closed their doors within the last five years according to a report from the SF Chronicle. Ten of these closures transpired from 2019 to this year with the last Walgreens store to close its door as of this writing, back on March 17. The cause of the closures is due to rampant shoplifting and looting that has transpired at Walgreen locations in the city believed to be perpetuated by an organized crime ring.

On Thursday, May 13 a hearing was held by the Board of Supervisors with retailers, the SFPD, the district attorney’s office, and probation departments. Brendan Dugan, director of organized retail crime and corporate investigations, believes that San Francisco is at the center of organized retail crime. He brought up a state bust in the Bay Area from last year in which $8 million in stolen merchandise was confiscated from five suspects. The merchandise came from CVS, Target and Walgreens stores from all across San Francisco.

The lack of enforcement made shoplifters so nonchalant and casual they would often steal in broad daylight while awestruck customers documented the crime on their iPhones, allowing for some viral internet moments.

San Francisco Safeway Cuts Hours Due to Rampant Shoplifting

A prominent Safeway supermarket in the Castro district of San Francisco is limiting its hours due to rampant shoplifting, the latest example of a retail store closing or limiting its operations in the left-liberal city due to out-of-control petty crime.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported Saturday:

Shoppers at the Safeway in San Francisco’s Castro neighborhood will see a noticeable change to the store: It now closes at 9 p.m. due to what one supervisor described as “out of control” shoplifting.

Once open 24 hours a day, the Safeway store on Market and Church streets now has the earliest closing hours of all the Pleasanton-based supermarket chain’s San Francisco storefronts, most of which stay open until midnight.

[San Francisco Supervisor Rafael] Mandelman said theft at the Safeway at 2020 Market Street has been “out of control” and recently met with Safeway representatives “to better understand the issues at this store.” He said he also planned to meet with the San Francisco Police Department and the office of San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin “to see what is currently being done to deter theft at Safeway, and to figure out a plan to do better.”

Earlier this year, Walgreens closed 17 stores in the city due to shoplifting, which skyrocketed after California voters passed Proposition 47, a ballot initiative aimed at criminal justice reform, which reclassified thefts up to $950 as misdemeanors. As a result, such thefts are rarely prosecuted.

The crime spike began under former district attorney George GascĂłn, who is now district attorney for Los Angeles County, and has continued under Chesa Boudin, who now faces a likely recall election.
