THE DEMOCRAT PARTY'S WAR ON MIDDLE AMERICA - McCarthy: All But One House Dem Voted for More IRS Agents to Spy on Americans, Opening Border with Spending Bill

THE ONLY WAY AMERICA CAN SAVE ITSELF FROM THE CRIMES OF THE PRO-TECH BILLIONAIRES, BANKSTERS AND 'CHEAP' LABOR OPEN BORDERS DEMOCRAT PARTY IS TO WIPE THEM OUT ON THE MIDTERMS AND SO NEUTRALIZE THEM AS TO MAKE THEM MEANINGLESS. HOWEVER, IT MAY BE TOO LATE.

They voted to open the border and make people legal citizens when they came here illegally. They voted to take away work requirements.” Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy

McCarthy: All But One House Dem Voted for More IRS Agents to Spy on Americans, Opening Border with Spending Bill

On Monday’s broadcast of “Fox News Primetime,” House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) stated that all but one House Democrat “voted for the 87,000 IRS agents to spy on you. They voted to open the border and make people legal citizens when they came here illegally” by voting for the Build Back Better reconciliation bill.

McCarthy said, “Democrats made a fatal mistake, and Nancy Pelosi made a fatal mistake. Remember, they all said they wouldn’t pass a bill in the House until it already had been conferenced in the Senate and make sure it passed the Senate. She had all her Democrats, and there were no Joe Manchins over there that would stand up, only one would. And now they have voted for the 87,000 IRS agents to spy on you. They voted to open the border and make people legal citizens when they came here illegally. They voted to take away work requirements.”

THERE IS NO GREATER THREAT TO AMERICA, THE AMERICAN MIDDLE CLASS, AMERICAN DEMOCRACY OR AMERICAN BORDERS THAN THE GLOBALIST DEMOCRAT PARTY, SERVANTS OF TECH BILLIONAIRES AND WALL STREET.

Those giveaways include an amnesty for 6.5 million, as well as new rules to help the Fortune 500 companies hire an uncapped number of foreign graduates, instead of American graduates, and a dramatic acceleration of chain migration into the United States, regardless of the damaging impact on Americans’ wages, families finances, and housing prices. The changes would have a big impact on Americans’ pocketbooks but would cost the federal government a small share of the spending plan.

Democrats and their business allies are trying to revive the huge immigration giveaways in President Joe Biden’s semi-defunct Build Back Better (BBB) spending plan.

The bill has been blocked by Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), who has repeatedly stated he opposes the $1.7 trillion spending plan because it will likely increase inflation.

But “Democratic lawmakers, lobbyists and experts at think tanks believe Manchin might be won over if the bill is revised to include fewer programs for a longer period of time,” the Hill.com reported December 23.  The outlet continued:

“That is the way forward here,” said Ben Ritz, director of the Center for Funding America’s Future at the Progressive Policy Institute, who has advocated for a bill with fewer items.

“Most of the party is starting to come around to that,” Ritz added.

The Democrats’ left-wing group, the Congressional Progressive Caucus, also wants to overcome Manchin’s opposition.

The caucus “is calling on the President and all Democrats who believe in the need to Build Back Better for climate, care, immigrants, and those seeking economic dignity and opportunity to come together,” a December 22 statement by the Congressional Progressive Caucus said.

Progressives want the revived bill to include all the immigration giveaways in the $1.7 trillion draft bill.

Manchin has not announced any opposition to the immigration giveaways in the bill.

But Democrats face a critical problem. The Senate’s parliamentarian has repeatedly excluded their amnesty plans for the 6.5 million illegals from the fast-track spending bill — and some Democrats do not want to pass the Fortune 500 giveaway without also passing the amnesty plan for migrants.

Media outlets that are allowed onto Capitol Hill have not asked the Democrats about their plan to escape this both-or-nothing dilemma.

Similarly, the approved media outlets have stayed silent about the Democrats’ plan to accelerate chain migration — even though it would deliver millions of new voters to Democrats while also providing millions of extra workers, consumers, and renters to the Democrats’ business allies.

Manchin reportedly approved a smaller spending bill before negotiations collapsed. But media coverage of the revived BBB plan is silent about his negotiations with the White House over the migration giveaways. For example, the Washington Post published a December 20 article about Manchin’s BBB priorities — but ignored the migration issue:

Manchin’s counteroffer, for instance, included funding universal pre-K for 10 years, rather than partially financing the measure for a few years. Manchin has long been public about his support for prekindergarten education.

On climate change, Manchin backed supporting a scaled-back version of what Democrats had sought — with spending between $500 billion and $600 billion.

Manchin’s offer also included extending the Affordable Care Act expansion approved by Democrats earlier this year — a health-care measure that has been a top priority of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). The full scope of Manchin’s plan was not clear, and it remains possible it included other elements of Biden’s proposals.

The progressives group also wants Biden to use his agencies and federal regulations if Manchin and the Republican senators block the migration giveaways. The progressives’ statement continued:

The White House must continue to act on a parallel track by using the President’s incredibly powerful tool of executive action. The legislative approach, while essential, has no certainty of timing or results — and we simply cannot wait to deliver tangible relief to people that they can feel and will make a difference in their lives and livelihoods.

The U.S. government’s post-1986 bipartisan, economic policy of extracting migrants from poor countries is deeply unpopular because it damages ordinary Americans’ career opportunities, cuts their wages, and raises their housing costs.

The invited migration also curbs Americans’ productivity, shrinks their political clout, widens regional wealth gapsradicalizes their democratic, compromise-promoting civic culture, and allows the elites to ignore despairing Americans at the bottom of society.

For many years, a wide variety of polls has shown deep and broad opposition to labor migration and the inflow of temporary contract workers into jobs sought by young U.S. graduates. This opposition is growingmultiracialcross-sexnon-racistclass-basedbipartisan,  rational, and persistent, and it recognizes the solidarity Americans owe to each other.

JOE BIDEN'S AMERICA: NO DAMNED LEGAL NEED APPLY

SO WHY GO TO COLLEGE?

The promises of reform by the Democrats have turned out to be utterly fraudulent, from the failure of Biden’s “Build Back Better” bill, which was gutted and ultimately killed, to the campaign promises of raising the minimum wage, free college and erasing student debt, and finally with the reinstatement of loan payments. Higher education is being made more and more a privilege afforded only to the upper class as workers and the poor are more and more priced out of it.

Analysis conducted last year reveal that 71 percent of tech workers in Silicon Valley are foreign-born, while the tech industry in the San Francisco, Oakland, and Hayward area is made up of 50 percent foreign-born tech workers.

Despite his Wall Street, big business, Big Tech, and billionaire donations, Biden has attempted to portray himself as a small-town fighter from Scranton, Pennsylvania

"This is how they will destroy America from within.  The leftist billionaires who orchestrate these plans are wealthy. Those tasked with representing us in Congress will never be exposed to the cost of the invasion of millions of migrants.  They have nothing but contempt for those of us who must endure the consequences of our communities being intruded upon by gang members, drug dealers and human traffickers.  These people have no intention of becoming Americans; like the Democrats who welcome them, they have contempt for us." PATRICIA McCARTHY

Joe Biden is on record that illegals are “already Americans,” and under Alejandro Mayorkas, the Biden Department of Homeland Security is effectively the Department of Human Trafficking. John Fonte of the Hudson Institute makes a strong case that “operational control of the border is no longer in American hands,” and under the control of Mexican cartels. These are criminal organizations but behind the scenes, a more powerful dynamic is in play. Lloyd Billingsley

Likewise, the Biden-Harris plan for national immigration policy — which seeks to drive up legal and illegal immigration levels to their highest levels in decades — offers a flooded labor market with low wages for U.S. workers and increased bargaining power for big business that has long been supported by Wall Street.                                                    JOHN BINDER

By failures of border security, a lack of the enforcement of our immigration laws from within  the interior of the United States and huge numbers of visas for high tech workers, the lives and livelihoods of Americans and their children, are being stolen by America’s corrupt political elite who are doing the bidding of those who provide them with huge “Campaign Contributions” (Orwellian euphemism for bribes) pursue legislation that is diametrically opposed to the best interests of America and Americans.

                                                 MICHAEL CUTLER

While Biden has vowed to flood the U.S. labor market with more foreign workers to compete against Americans for jobs, he has shied away from questions on whether he will eliminate tariffs on foreign imports that were imposed by Trump. Such elimination of tariffs would be a boon to multinational corporations that offshore their production and jobs overseas only to import their products back into the U.S. market, often with no penalties for doing so.

What the resumption of student loan repayments will mean for millions of young people

President Joe Biden announced Wednesday he is extending the pause on student loan payments until May 1.

The payments, which were set to restart on February 1, have been paused since the beginning of the pandemic. The temporary pause of student loan payments includes a freeze on loan repayments, interest accrual, as well as collections, garnishments and tax refund interceptions on defaulted loans.

In this May 17, 2018, file photo, new graduates line up before the start of the Bergen Community College commencement at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. (AP Photo/Seth Wenig, File)

The last extension of the freeze, started under the Trump administration in March 2020, was later provocatively called the “final” extension of the relief by the Biden administration.

White House officials have publicly insisted for months that student loan repayments would resume February 1, 2022, and that the administration’s high priority was a “smooth transition back into repayment” after the end of the moratorium. The three-month extension is a sign that the administration anticipates a colossal economic and social catastrophe to unfold over the next few months as the Omicron variant of COVID-19 spirals out of control.

The US Department of Education has taken no notice of the change in messaging, sending out mass emails to loan borrowers warning of the imminent return to student loan payment, as well as numerous tweets on the government’s Twitter account around this same theme.

Federal Student Aid Director Richard Cordray said in a tweet on December 20, “Higher ed partners: Encourage borrowers to prepare for federal student loan payments to begin after Jan. 31 by taking these six steps” linking to the Federal Student Aid website, with a graphic labeled “Preparing for the End of the Payment Pause.” One Twitter user remarked, referring to the graphic, which was winter-weather-clothing themed, “I see what you did with the graphic. People won’t be able to afford heat once loan repayments start, so you’re telling them to bundle up. Great advice.”

Another tweeted: “Thank god you used cute graphics to show that soon 40 million of us will be giving you hundreds of dollars a month that we don’t have.”

Outstanding student loan debt totals a staggering $1.75 trillion in the US, with the increase in debt outpacing GDP growth by six times. Over 43 million students and former students owe an average of $39,000. According to the Education Data Initiative, the debt accrued is $9,000 more than the average cost of a bachelor’s degree at a public university.

Sixty-five percent of college-educated American adults are still paying off student loans according to First Republic Bank. The government took in $70.3 billion from student loan programs in 2019 according to Slate, with $22.4 billion of this being from interest alone.

The resumption of student loan payments means that tens of millions of young people will soon be forced to restart debt payments in the midst of a surge in the pandemic fueled by the novel Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2, while real wages have decreased 1.9 percent in the last year alone, with inflation at its highest in four decades.

On top of this, most of the other remaining Trump-era protections, including the eviction moratoriumchild tax credit and federal jobless aid have been eliminated, leaving those in debt more financially exposed than in 2020.

One post, simply stating, “My student loan payments will not be resuming after January 31 because I’m not going to pay them” on the r/antiwork subreddit of the popular social media platform Reddit, received 40,000 up-votes and thousands of posts expressing mass opposition to the restarting of loan payments.

One user responded to the post saying, “Same here. Me and my boyfriend are living paycheck to paycheck and it just feels so draining.”

Another response pointed to the obvious contradiction between the massive government bailouts of the financial elite and the suffering of millions of students: “It’s ridiculous we can bail out other countries and air lines and shit corporations but we just leave most people in huge debt. The colleges are rich enough, it needs to change.”

A remarkable number of users weighed the idea of moving to another country to evade loan payment.

Another commenter explained the limitations of the income-based repayments (IBR): “Income-based payments don’t help a lot of people because of how they calculate it. The federal poverty line is ridiculously low, and they haven’t properly adjusted it in years, so nearly everyone is paying more than they can afford—especially with inflation as bad as it is right now.”

Speaking to the wider poverty experienced by millions of young people, one user noted that they made $13 an hour working fast-food and could not keep up with their $90 monthly payments after other bills. The same user was making too much money to be accepted for food stamps despite “living off of ramen noodles and powdered lemonade the last couple days before each pay period.”

Many will be forced to choose between making medical payments, rent payments, food, utility and other necessary payments, and loan payments.

“This is how you know the true meaning of Covid. No student loans were forgiven no mortgages no Children’s school lunches. Literally nobody got a break or a help unless they were already rich. The elite benefited and got mad rich during Covid while shutting down every mom and pop and small time joint. This is the truth we must fight. The rich are our true enemy.”

Speaking to the widespread political disillusionment being produced by the restarting of loan payments, one student stated, “I’ve always just kept calling and deferring, waiting for a Bernie Sanders-esque hero to come and save us all from student debt lol. I take a couple classes whenever they say I will have to start paying, and that stops me from having to pay, and I get to learn stuff. Love that Joe PROMISED us he’d do something and then proceeded to be like lol jk … I was furious in that moment. Not that I trust politicians, Trump or Biden especially, but ... wow.”

Matt, a UC Berkeley graduate, told the WSWS, “I’m almost $30 thousand in debt and when Biden was elected I was ecstatic. I don’t agree with a lot of his positions but his promises to forgive student loan debt led me to believe I wouldn’t have this burden hanging over me. Now that the deferment on student loan payments is ending, I don’t know how I’ll be able to keep up with them. I work full time but I still am often paycheck to paycheck, and I’m concerned that my only options will be to default on my loans or keep deferring them and accumulate interest I won’t be able to pay.”

The government goes to great lengths to collect student debt, even withholding students’ degrees until payment is received. In addition, the official website on loan repayments threatens debtors with court charges, collection fees, attorney fees, and “other costs” if a debtor is in default. A young person who defaults on their loans also runs the risk of destroying their credit score, preventing those with outstanding debts from taking loans for cars, houses and other necessities. Defaulting also causes the entire unpaid balance and any interest owed to become immediately due, while losing eligibility for additional federal student aid.

A default, which takes place 270 days after a payment is due, can result in the garnishing of borrowers’ wages, Social Security checks, federal tax refunds and even disability benefits.

According to educationdata.org, as of July, 11.2 percent of adults with student loan debt reported being unable to make at least one payment that year-to-date, with 9 percent of students attending public institutions in 2020 being behind on loans. Twenty-three percent of borrowers with outstanding education debt have a credit card balance as well. With the restarting of loan payments, those who were already behind will be plunged further into debt, while many already on the brink will join the category.

Wharton Study: Bidenflation Will Cost Families $3,500 This Year, Low-Incomes Hardest Hit

Bidenflation will cost families an additional $3,500 this year, impacting low-income families the hardest, a study released Wednesday showed.

According to the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School’s budget model, Americans on average will have to spend $3,500 more in 2021 to sustain their consumption of years past in 2019 and 2020.

The study also suggests low-income families will be disproportionally impacted. The study estimated lower-income families will have to spend seven percent more money to maintain their previous consumption patterns, while higher-income families will only have to spend six percent more.

“Lower-income groups spent relatively more on food, energy, and shelter, while higher-income groups spent relatively more on other commodities and services,” the study states.

Across the consumption basket of income groups, the bottom 20 percent of families saw the price of their consumption increase 6.8 percent, or $2,120.

The top five percent of income-earning families will only experience a 6.1 percent ($7,636) increase in consumption.

Meanwhile, the top five percent of income-earning families will only experience a 6.1 percent ($7,636) increase in consumption.

“Since higher-income groups had a bigger increase in expenditures in all categories, they also saw a bigger increase in total expenditure,” the study read. “However, because of variation in the composition of consumption bundles, we find that higher-income households had smaller percentage increases in their total expenditure.”

The Penn Wharton study comes after Bidenflation has reached a 40 year-high, increasing 6.8 percent from 2020. The cost of energy, food, housing, transpiration, vehicles, clothing, and hotels have all increased under President Biden.

Yet Americans do not have faith Biden will squash inflation. A Monday poll revealed 53 percent of Americans believe the economy, due to inflation, is becoming worse, while only 15 percent believe Biden is improving the economy:

Income doesn’t change the perception of inflation. Americans earning less than $50,000 were just as likely to say inflation is a very serious problem as those earning between $50,000 and $100,000 or those earning more than $100,000.

A Sunday poll showed a majority (56 percent) of voters do not think Biden is concerned about American families incurring massive price increases. The numbers among just Democrats are no more favorable. Only 48 percent of Democrats believe Biden is concerned about inflation.

President Joe Biden and his pro-migration progressives admitted at least 40,000 coyote-delivered, work-ready young male migrants in 2021 under the excuse of saving “unaccompanied alien children.”

“What the advocacy groups are saying is that open borders is ‘For the children,’ when in fact, they’re talking about [admitting] 17-year-old construction workers,” said Mark Krikorian, the director of the Center for Immigration Studies. “In other contexts, they’d call it the ‘White Savior Complex,'” he added.

The 2021 numbers were announced by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to a friendly CBS reporter:

The Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) shelter system received 122,000 migrant children [and youths] who were taken into U.S. custody without their parents in fiscal year 2021, an all-time high that shattered previous records, according to new government figures obtained by CBS News.

“The record number of shelter transfers was fueled by the unprecedented arrival of 147,000 unaccompanied children to the U.S.-Mexico border in fiscal year 2021, which ended in October,’ said CBS.

The government-aided labor trafficking was sketched in November 2020 by ProPublica, a left-wing, non-profit website:

“Honestly, I think almost everyone in the system knows that most of the teens are coming to work and send money back home,” said Maria Woltjen, executive director and founder of the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights, a national organization that advocates for immigrant children in court. “They want to help their parents.”

[…]

Some began to work when they were just 13 or 14, packing the candy you find by the supermarket register, cutting the slabs of raw meat that end up in your freezer and baking, in industrial ovens, the pastries you eat with your coffee. Garcia, who is 18 now, was 15 when he got his first job at an automotive parts factory.

The youth inflow adds to the other inflows of legal and illegal migrants, which total about 1.5 million in 2021, atop the population of roughly 45 million resident foreign-born people.

The nation’s huge and growing population of legal and illegal migrants helps to drive down Americans’ wages, reduce high-tech investment, push up housing prices, distort national politics, and give politicians an excuse to avoid difficult domestic problems, such as fentanyl deaths, low wages, expensive housing, poor productivity, and civic demolition.

The UAC catch-and-release loophole was inadvertently created by Congress’ Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008.

The 2008 law sought to protect trafficking victims, such as child prostitutes and child labor, while the traffickers were prosecuted. But it is now used by the cartels to deliver young workers to U.S.-based labor brokers and to deliver the children of illegal migrants to the parents’ addresses in the United States.

‘The stated intentions were honorable … if a 10-year-old kid is found wandering around near the border, we want to make sure that we deal with that kid properly,” said Krikorian. “The problem is that, like any of these policies, it’s immediately seized on by smugglers as an opportunity to get more illegal aliens of the United States.”

The migrants are not thinking about the progressives’ “For the children” pitch or U.S. laws, Krikorian said.

They’re simply using the system that we set up. They’re gaming the system that [Congress] put in place. It’s our responsibility to fix that. There’s no reason that unaccompanied minors shouldn’t be expeditiously sent home … Unless they’re lying about their age or lying about other things; how can you condemn them and not condemn the lawmakers and the advocacy groups that created these loopholes? It’s like criticizing somebody for using a tax shelter — as long as they’re not lying and breaking the law, the problem may be the tax shelter, not the person taking advantage of it.

The unspoken migration is bad for the sending countries, he added.

This is an issue that transcends the unaccompanied minors issue, but it’s not a viable development strategy to export your young people and hope that they send some money back. What kind of development is that? … The deadbeats aren’t leaving — it’s the ones who want to work and earn some money. I’m not saying we should strip-mine this [human] resource for us to use for ourselves — but if you’re in Guatemala, your young people with get-up-and-go should be staying to work, not getting up and going to the United States.

The young migrants are accompanied to the U.S. border by contract coyotes, who also pay off the cartels to get routine access to the border.

The coyotes hand off the youths and children to DHS agents at the border, who then pass the migrants to the HHS shelters. The shelter officials then transfer the migrants to the coyotes’ customers, who are labeled as “sponsors” by the HHS.

In 2019, 80,634 young migrants got across before Trump, and his deputies bypassed opposition from progressive judges and pro-migration groups. In 2020, Trump and his deputies allowed just 33,239 young migrants across the border, mostly very young children.

The 2021 inflow of 146,925 young migrants is double the 2019 number and almost five times the 2020 inflow.

Most of the children and youths from Mexico are sent back, but UACs from Central America are welcomed by Biden’s deputies.

In 2021, government officials welcomed 114,211 coyote-delivered Central American UAC migrants, almost seven times the 2020 inflow of 15,687 Central American UACs. Those nations provided 92 percent of the young migrants.

Most of the young migrants are being transported to their parents or relatives living illegally in the United States.

HHS reported; “In more than 80 percent of cases the child has a family member in the United States. In more than 40 percent of cases that family member is a parent or legal guardian.”

Democrats and Republicans in Congress barred Trump’s enforcement officials from deporting illegals who paid to get their children delivered.

The delivery of the children helps persuade resident adult illegals to stay working in the U.S. economy. Without the deliveries, many migrants would return home to their families.

The pipeline also reduces the burden and cost of illegal migration because strong adult migrants can sneak over the border, work for a year or two, and then order their children to be delivered via the government-cartel delivery system.

The UAC loophole is only for migrants younger than 18. Roughly one-third claim to be age 17. Almost four-in-ten claim to be aged 15 to 16. However, border agents are under pressure to accept whatever age is offered, giving the cartels an open door to maximize the number of migrants who pay transit fees on their way to a U.S. job.

One-third of the arriving young migrants are female; two-thirds are boys and men.

The government-backed cartel delivery service is so efficient that the illegal-migrant customers complain when their foreign children are not delivered fast enough.

“During the ten days that Andrea’s 6-year-old son, Juan, was held in government custody after crossing the southwest border with his grandmother, the Venezuelan mother who lives in California said she called government officials several times a day, trying to arrange his release,” said a Washington Post article from April 20. It continued:

“How can they do this to a child?” said Andrea, 37, who goes by her middle name and did not want her last name used because she did not want to jeopardize her asylum case. “He’s never been separated from his family.”

Pro-migration groups prefer to ignore the labor trafficking, the cartels’ role, and the economic damage to Americans. So the establishment media usually describe the massive inflow as a logistics problem, not as disruptive migration and economic turmoil. For example, CBS devoted much of its article to praising HHS for importing so many youths and children:

At the largest site, a tent complex inside the Fort Bliss Army base in Texas, migrant teens reported mental health distress, inadequate services and prolonged stays. Children there were constantly monitored for escape attempts, panic attacks and self-harm. After the conditions were publicly reported in June, HHS took remedial measures.

More than 107,000 migrant children in HHS care were released to sponsors during fiscal year 2021, another record. The states with the highest number of placements were Texas, Florida, California and New York, which collectively received more than 45,000 unaccompanied children.

“The exploitation of this loophole is something that Congress never really was thinking about when they passed this legislation,” said Krikorian. “It was clearly a mistake — we’ve seen the consequences of it, and we need to fix it.”

RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas — Cartel Smugglers continued their work on Christmas Eve moving more than 200 migrants across the Rio Grande in the Border Patrol’s busiest sector. As many celebrated the holidays on both sides of the border, the smugglers and Border Patrol agents engaged in what has become routine business on the southwest border.

Breitbart Texas traveled to several border towns in the Border Patrol’s Rio Grande Valley Sector and witnessed the interactions that did not take a break for Christmas. As residents attended mass on Friday evening, smugglers in Roma, Texas, ferried migrants across the Rio Grande in large groups consisting of family units, unaccompanied migrant children, and single adults.

Across the river in Miguel Aleman, Mexico, residents celebrated the holiday by lighting fireworks as church bells rang out. On a loudspeaker outside a Catholic church in the heart of downtown Roma, broadcast its celebratory mass into the streets and hymns could be heard for blocks. The city square, usually used as a rally point for migrants who surrender by the hundreds nightly was void of the usual activity.

On this night, smugglers chose to move the migrants to the north end of town near a residential neighborhood. Using inflatable rafts, the smugglers moved the migrants across the Rio Grande as fireworks lit the night sky on both sides of the border. The migrants, mostly Central American, walked through the brush and into a neighborhood in Roma to await transport.

Border Patrol agents sorted the apprehended groups by single adults, family units, and unaccompanied migrant children. As several Border Patrol agents retrieved basic biographical information from the migrants, others conducted pat-down searches for weapons and contraband. Other agents inventoried and bagged migrant property in what appeared to be a smooth, well-developed process.

Nearly 40 miles away, Border Patrol agents in La Joya carried out the same process. Breitbart Texas witnessed one large group march along a border road escorted by a Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol trooper. The mostly Central American migrants, nearly 30 in total, walked from the river bottom to a city baseball park where Border Patrol agents waited.

With the same precision, a Border Patrol agent prepared the group for transport after determining the demographic composition of the migrants. Agents inventoried and tagged the property while waiting for migrant transport buses.

Along Texas Highway 83 that moves through multiple border cities in the Rio Grande Valley, Border Patrol agents moved into ranches and communities in search of migrants who are not voluntarily surrendering. Breitbart Texas observed the agents cordoning off neighborhoods and small ranches attempting to track migrants attempting to elude apprehension.

The migrants apprehended on this Christmas Eve will be taken to a soft-sided processing center nearby. Once processed, many of the family unit migrants with tender age children will ultimately be released. Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector arrested more than 549,000 migrants in Fiscal Year 2021. More than 257,000 of those were classified as family unit members according to the Border Patrol.

Agents Find 6-Year-Old Migrant Caring for 1-Year-Old at Border

Border Patrol agents found a six-year-old unaccompanied migrant child safeguarding her one-year-old cousin on the bank of the Rio Grande. In a scene all too common this year, five total unaccompanied children were apprehended on Thursday morning near Del Rio, Texas.

Early in the day, agents located the six-year-old with her one-year-old cousin mixed into a group of 25 other unrelated migrants moving away from the river bottom. The unaccompanied children were in possession of handwritten notes showing phone numbers of relatives in the U.S. One had a copy of a birth certificate. One was age five.

As the morning progressed, agents intercepted a group of five additional migrants and discovered two were unaccompanied. Two siblings aged nine and seven were identified by their birth certificates and carried contact information for relatives.

The five children in the groups were all Honduran nationals and will be processed for transfer to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Once family members or sponsors in the United States are located, the children will be released.

The HHS released more than 5,000 unaccompanied migrant children to U.S. sponsors in November 2021. As of Wednesday, 12,613 were in federal custody and awaiting similar transfers.

According to HHS, nearly 400 unaccompanied migrant children were arrested and placed into CBP custody daily during the most recent 30-day period. The Border Patrol apprehended more than 140,000 unaccompanied migrant children in Fiscal Year 2021.

HHS estimates the cost to detain a child is $775 per day. In other long-term facilities, they indicate that cost to be approximately $275 per day. Based on these estimates and the number of UACs currently in custody, the cost to the American taxpayer stands at more than $3.4 million daily.

CBS: Cartels Succeed in Record Delivery of Youth, Child Migrants in 2021

Why the Democrats are losing Latino support

If you were to ask casual consumers of news about the cause of racism in the U.S., they would most likely blame the Republicans and President Trump.

They will claim that President Trump referred to white supremacists in Charlottesville as "very fine people."  They will mention bigoted MAGA-supporters.  Some may equate Republicans with Nazis.

The list of misperceptions and falsehoods is interminable and has enabled the Democrats to develop a permanent voter base among most demographic minorities.

This is especially true for African-Americans, who, for almost half a century, have been voting overwhelmingly for Democrats.

African-Americans have suffered for decades from poverty, poor education, drug addiction, unemployment, crime, and an absence of a traditional family structure.  Chicago is a war zone with gang violence and a city where African-Americans are victims of crimes.

The Democrats haven't resolved any of these issues despite being in power for ages, yet African-Americans continue to vote for Democrats.

This is the power of decades of propaganda that has brainwashed African-Americans into thinking Democrats are the sole custodians of diversity and pluralism.

So they vote for Democrats, perhaps thinking that that party serves as the least among evils.

The Democrats now take the African-American vote for granted.

When a black radio jockey urged candidate Joe Biden to answer questions pertaining to African-American issues, he curtly fired back with "If you have a problem figuring out whether you're for me or Trump, then you ain't black."

In Biden's mind, black people are his minions who are duty-bound to vote for him.  If they dare question him, they are disloyal and a traitor to their race.  This is the sort of thinking that slave-owners of old had.

These remarks were made on a radio show that has a considerable black audience, and it was even carried by the media, yet Biden managed to secure 90 percent of the black vote.

It is nothing short of astounding that the party that fought the Civil War in favor of slavery, which founded the Ku Klux Klan, and which opposed desegregation, is now supported by a huge majority of African-Americans.

The next target for the Democrats is Hispanics.

Hence, they are fervent advocates of open borders.

The goal is to allow the influx of mostly Hispanics into the U.S. and to resettle them in states where Republicans have a record of winning.  The hope is that these new citizens will be welfare-dependent and hence will vote for Democrats.  In time, they have a permanent voter base that makes elections meaningless.  They seek a voter set-up much like in California and New York, where elections are held, but a potted plant with the letter "D" will win against the most capable, hardworking, and selfless Republican.

However, things may not be going as planned for the Democrats on that matter.

A recent Marist poll showed that at the end of his first year in office, only 41 percent of people approved of the job that Biden is doing as president.

Among these, an emphatic 65 percent among Latinos disapprove of Joe Biden, while a mere 33 percent of Latinos approve.

The overall low voter approval is obviously bad news for the Democrats in the short term, considering that the November 2022 midterms are not too far away.

But the poor showing among Hispanics is what will cause sleepless nights for Democrats because this is an impediment to their long-term goal of altering the demographic to ensure permanence in power.

So why are the Democrats failing with Hispanic voters?

The first reason:

The Democrats have been proponents for open borders.

Most people, including Latinos, desire a life where they can earn enough to provide a quality life for their families.  They also desire upward mobility.

If you flood their neighborhoods with unvetted foreigners, the resources meant for citizens will be depleted.  Jobs meant for citizens will go to migrants willing to work for lower wages.  Educational and medical institutions will be overwhelmed.  Since there was no form of vetting, there will be a spike in crimes.

If you are a Latino citizen, will you be pleased by all of these problems just because migrants happen to be of the same race as you?

The second reason: Among the roughly 63 million Latinos in the U.S., 77 percent are Christian, and the rest are Jewish, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, of indigenous faiths, or agnostic.  Only 2 percent are atheists.

The Democrats have been fanatic proponents of abortion, gay "marriage," and various other LGBT causes that are generally not approved by Christians.  Most Democrats, including Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, have frequently displayed disdain for Christianity.  Entertainment shows created by liberal Democrats also frequently mock Christianity.

If you are a person of faith for whom the traditional way of life matters, would you support a party that wants to dismantle it all?

The third reason.

The modern Democrat party has many vocal members such as Sens. Bernie Sanders, Liz Warren, and members of the Squad, who are proud socialists.

Most Latinos have either themselves experiences the evils of socialism or have heard from their relatives abroad about its perils.  They know how economic systems collapse due to socialism.  They know how high inflation owing to socialistic policies leads to poverty and despondency.

The modern Democrat also has a proclivity for totalitarianism.

Under the Democrats, basic rights such as the choice to consume medicine or take a vaccine as well as freedom of movement are at risk following the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Democrats frequently use "wokeness" as an excuse to police speech and "cancel" those who dare to disagree with the groupthink.  The Democrats brand dissenters or those who participate in protests as domestic terrorists.

Most Latinos, especially those who originate from socialist or communist countries such as Nicaragua, Venezuela, and Cuba, know how the dictators rule with an iron fist to suppress freedoms and human rights and cause death and destruction.  They see the behavior of Democrats as warning signs.

In fact, the keenness for freedom and prosperity caused them to take the U.S. as their home.

Why would they support a party that wants to implement a political ideology that brought them nothing but sorrow?

The reason the Democrats failed to see these obvious challenges with Latinos is that they have plunged so deeply into identity politics that they fail to respect and recognize the individual.  They see only demographic groups, and worse still, they see Latinos as a single group, so their understanding of these groups is based on racist stereotypes that emanate from their bigoted minds.

They think of Latinos as impoverished, unskilled, and poorly educated people who will survive on handouts, which will make them permanent Democrat voters.

The poll proves how completely erroneous the Democrats are on every level.

It is now up to the Republicans to take advantage of this and show everyone, including Latinos, that they are the party of freedom, peace, and prosperity.

Will they rise to the occasion?

Police: Illegal Alien Killed 76-Year-old Philanthropist in Drunk Driving Crash

An illegal alien has been arrested for allegedly killing a 76-year-old philanthropist and injuring seven others in a drunk driving crash in Charleston County, South Carolina.

Jose Javier Reyes-Escobar, a 21-year-old illegal alien, was arrested and charged by the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office on December 18 on three counts of felony drunk driving resulting in injury or death, one count of drunk driving without a driver’s license, and one count of driving with an open container of alcohol.

According to police, Reyes-Escobar was driving four times over the legal blood-alcohol content limit when he hit a sedan and an SUV head-on — causing a three-vehicle crash. Police said Reyes-Escobar admitted he was driving drunk and lost control of his car.

Reyes, along with seven others, were taken to nearby hospitals following the crash. Gretchen Gross, a 76-year-old philanthropist from Buffalo, New York, who vacationed annually in South Carolina, died as a result of her injuries from the crash.

A woman remains in a medically induced coma as a result of the crash and is suffering from a fractured neck.

Gross was a former president of the Jewish Community Center of Greater Buffalo. The organization released a statement with news of her passing, telling local media that “Gretchen had an indomitable spirit of optimism.”

“Whether it was stepping in to cook kosher hot dogs at a PJ Library picnic, assisting the campaign to renovate the Holland Family Building, or supporting the efforts of staff leadership, Gretchen’s impact is without parallel,” the organization wrote. “Her insight, experience, and wise advice enabled the JCC to succeed over the past 20 years. Sadly, she will be missed, and her memory will be a blessing for everyone at the JCC.”

Reyes-Escobar was denied bail and remains detained at the Charleston County Jail. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency has placed a detainer on Reyes-Escobar so that if he is released from local custody at any time, he will be turned over to them for arrest and deportation.

Attorney General Bonta Announces 180 Felony Arrests During Investigation Targeting Westside Verdugo Criminal Street Gang in San Bernardino

Contact: (916) 210-6000, agpressoffice@doj.ca.gov

SAN BERNARDINO  California Attorney General Rob Bonta, San Bernardino Police Chief David Green, and San Bernardino District Attorney Jason Anderson today announced the results of a joint investigation into the Westside Verdugo criminal street gang. In June, the police department requested assistance with its investigation of the gang’s violent criminal activity from the California Department of Justice’s Special Operations Unit. Together with the district attorney’s office and other local law enforcement partners, the team made 180 felony arrests, shut down 30 illegal gambling establishments, and seized 92 handguns, 19 assault weapons, $295,870 in U.S. currency, as well as hundreds of pounds of illicit drugs over the course of the investigation. Yesterday, the investigation culminated in a largescale operation with agents executing 34 search warrants, arresting 31 suspects, and seizing 11 firearms at multiple sites in San Bernardino County.

“Members and associates of this gang have committed violent crimes in San Bernardino with no regard for the people in the community who are directly or indirectly harmed,” said Attorney General Rob Bonta. “This investigation and yesterday’s arrests and seizures have removed dangerous individuals from our streets and firearms from the hands of those who would choose to commit violent crimes. The results of this investigation could also assist law enforcement in solving other cases in the area. The partnership between our agents and local law enforcement made this possible, and I’m thankful to every person involved in this successful investigation.”

“As decriminalization initiatives continue to undermine the safety of our community, we have never been more reliant on our law enforcement partners,” said San Bernardino Police Chief David Green

“The scale of this multiagency operation speaks to the commitment we have to eradicate criminal street gangs across San Bernardino County, particularly one with such a violent history as the Westside Verdugo gang,” said San Bernardino County District Attorney Jason Anderson. “Violent crime is on the rise, and several of the defendants we have filed against are facing their 3rd strike, indicating a propensity for criminal behavior. The success of this takedown was due to the tremendous efforts of the San Bernardino Police Department and the Department of Justice in conducting the investigation, and the tenacity of our specialized gang unit prosecutors. We will use everything in our toolkit including weapon enhancements, gang enhancements, prior convictions, and prior strike convictions to ensure maximum accountability from these defendants, keeping career criminals off the streets of San Bernardino and out of our communities.”

Westside Verdugo has an extensive criminal history in the San Bernardino area. The gang is suspected of multiple violent crimes including assault, attempted murder, and murder.

Over the course of the investigation, numerous violent crimes were prevented, including shootings and armed robberies. Evidence collected during the investigation also assisted in solving two homicides in the area. Agents also shut down 30 illegal gambling establishments and seized over 100 illegal gambling machines and devices. These establishments were operated by members and associates of Westside Verdugo and brought in tens of thousands of dollars a week for the gang. In 2021, five homicides, four attempted murders, and multiple other crimes were linked to these sites.

DOJ’s Special Operations Unit is a collaborative investigative effort between DOJ and the California Highway Patrol. The unit provides statewide enforcement for combating violent career criminals, gangs, and organized crime groups, along with intrastate drug traffickers. These unique and essential teams use the latest technology and advanced investigative techniques and work alongside local law enforcement to enhance investigations into violent criminals and organized crime throughout the state.

SAN BERNARDINO: 52 gang members indicted in drug sales, smuggling case

By BRIAN ROKOS | brokos@scng.com | The Press-Enterprise

Fifty-two members and associates of San Bernardino’s largest criminal gang were indicted Thursday on narcotics trafficking charges, the FBI said.

Of those 52, 21 people were arrested Thursday, and 22 already were in custody on unrelated charges, according to an FBI news release. The other  nine are being sought.

All were charged with conspiracy to distribute and conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine and heroin. Seven also are charged with distributing the narcotics, the FBI said. The indictment, unsealed Thursday, was the result of a yearslong investigation by federal, state, county and city authorities that targeted the West Side Verdugo gang.

The defendants face 10 years to life in prison if convicted, the FBI said.

San Bernardino police Lt. Rich Lawhead, who was part of the team that made the arrests, said that in addition to drug pushing, West Side Verdugo members are responsible for several homicides and assaults in the city.

“All our street gangs are a problem,” Lawhead said. “They create an environment of fear. Gangs in general are responsible for a majority of our homicides and a lot of the other illegal activity in the city.”

Most of the 90-page indictment is devoted to summaries of 502 separate phone calls or text messages intercepted by authorities in which the sales of heroin and meth were discussed in coded language. Other messages discussed smuggling drugs to inmates, including those in the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, and Corcoran and Ironwood state prisons.

There were also conversations about money owed, the collection of “drug taxes” from dealers allowed to set up in gang territory, and the enforcement of gang rules.

The conversations occurred from Aug. 26, 2010, to Jan. 16, 2012.

“A lot of these people were shocked when we showed up,” Lawhead said, noting the amount of time that had passed since the investigation began. “But the wheels of justice do move.”

Lawhead said he hoped the arrests would dissuade youngsters from joining gangs.

The release said the Verdugo gang and its affiliates are linked to the Mexican Mafia prison gang. The indictment outlines how some of the proceeds generated by narcotic sales were funneled to the Mexican Mafia.

Some of the drugs were dealt at what was described as the “7th Street Park.” FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said that was a reference to La Plaza Park on Mt. Vernon Avenue, at Seventh Street on San Bernardino’s west side.

Lawhead said heroin has been sold at that park for years, and that the city’s officers patrol La Plaza and other parks in an effort to deter drug dealers.

Gang members went to great lengths to smuggle drugs to inmates, according to the indictment. One person, identified as “Martinez,” was told to sneak drugs into West Valley Detention Center by getting himself arrested and booked into the facility. His plan was foiled, however, when a police officer merely wrote a citation for an unspecified offense.

“There wasn’t anyone who wanted to go to jail today – I guarantee you that,” Lawhead said.

Other agencies participating in the investigation and arrests, according to the FBI, were the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, San Bernardino County Probation Department, Los Angeles Police Department, LA County Sheriff’s Department, California Highway Patrol, Drug Enforcement Administration and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Joint investigation into San Bernardino street gang nets 180 arrests, firearms, drugs

Tentacles of operation allegedly reached into Los Angeles and Orange counties

A yearlong investigation into a San Bernardino street gang’s criminal activity has netted 180 arrests, shuttered 30 illegal gambling operations and resulted in the seizure of more than 100 assault weapons and handguns, authorities announced Thursday.

San Bernardino police last year began investigating illegal firearms sales involving Westside Verdugo, a Latino street gang rooted in the city for roughly 70 years.

But early on in the investigation, police realized they were dealing with something much bigger than just illicit gun sales, Police Chief David Green said during a news conference Thursday at the San Bernardino Police Department, where dozens of assault weapons and handguns seized by police during the investigation were spread across a table. “As they started doing more analysis on these cases, they were recognizing it was a little more coordinated and a little more significant than what they initially realized, and that’s when they started pursuing it as more of a conspiracy type of investigation,” Green said. The investigation and subsequent arrests extended into Orange and Los Angeles counties, he said.

Several agencies enlisted

In June, the investigation ramped up when the San Bernardino Police Department asked the state attorney general’s Special Operations Unit to join in. The Santa Ana Police Department, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol also assisted in the investigation, which culminated Wednesday when officers fanned out across San Bernardino County, serving 34 search warrants, arresting 31 people and seizing 111 firearms at multiple locations.

During the course of the investigation, coined “Operation Westside Jenga,” police seized 92 handguns, 19 assault weapons, more than $295,000 in cash and hundreds of pounds of methamphetamine, marijuana, heroin and fentanyl. Several potential shootings and armed robberies were thwarted, and evidence collected by investigators during the investigation assisted in the closure of two homicide cases, police said.

Additionally, investigators infiltrated and shut down 30 illegal gambling operations and seized more than 100 high-end gambling machines. The facilities were linked to five homicides, four attempted murders and other crimes in 2021, authorities said.

Gambling operations

The gambling operations — which housed high-end gambling machines, most of them acquired on the black market and imported from China — were bringing in tens of thousands of dollars a week and were operated out of private residences, warehouses and closed businesses, Green said.

He said the gambling facilities were a joint-enterprise between Westside Verdugo and the Mexican Mafia, the patriarchal prison gang that receives a share of profits from drug sales and other illicit business carried out by Westside Verdugo and other Latino street gangs in the form of “taxes.” Some of that revenue was reinvested into the gambling operations.

“It has a hierarchy. It has its own business model. It’s an illicit business model, but it’s one that’s very lucrative nonetheless,” Green said.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta said the people of San Bernardino “can go to bed tonight knowing their community is safer.”

“We’re putting serious criminals behind bars,” Bonta said, adding that he was proud of the results of the investigation not only as attorney general, but also as a father. “Every child in California deserves to grow up in a safe neighborhood — a neighborhood that is free from violence, a neighborhood without gun violence.”

Feds not involved

Green said authorities opted to handle the prosecution locally without the help of the federal government, which often takes down such large criminal enterprises using the Racketeering Influenced Corrupt Organizations Act, referred to as the RICO Act.

“We’re not pursuing a federal prosecution in this case because we have the local District Attorney’s Office that we feel is going to be able to give us a successful prosecutorial outcome,” Green said. “But these types of cases are often handled by federal prosecutors under that RICO statute.”

San Bernardino County District Attorney Jason Anderson said his office has so far charged 45 defendants with various felony offenses, which include a total of 57 firearm enhancements and 41 gang enhancements. Six of the defendants are facing third strikes, Anderson said.

“Our role is twofold in this particular instance. Number one is we are going to punish these individuals as severely as we possibly can, and number two, we’re going to separate them from an otherwise law-abiding community for as long as we can,” Anderson said.

More criminal charges are expected, authorities said.

“Many of these cases are still under review, and we are expecting many more charges to be filed,” Green said. “Some of them will be tried jointly, and some of them will be parsed out separately.”

Heather Mac Donald of the Manhattan Institute has testified before a Congressional committee that in 2004, 95% of all outstanding warrants for murder in Los Angeles were for illegal aliens; in 2000, 23% of all Los Angeles County jail inmates were illegal aliens and that in 1995, 60% of Los Angeles’s largest street gang, the 18th Street gang, were illegal aliens.

Texas DPS: Mexican Cartels Committing Murders in the U.S.

Drug cartel gunmen are crossing the border to commit murders in Texas, authorities claim. The statements by officials from the Texas Department of Public Safety directly clash with longstanding claims by local police chiefs who routinely say that border cities are safe.

“These criminal organizations come across from Mexico to the U.S. side and they kill individuals. they murder individuals,” Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Lieutenant Chris Olivarez told Sara Carter with Fox News. “We have had several incidents that have taken place along the border using professional-type weapons the way they carry out these killings, very professional, very methodical.”

The statements by Olivarez come at a time when both DPS and the Texas National Guard increased their law enforcement presence along the border in response to record-breaking human and drug smuggling activity by criminal organizations like the Gulf Cartel and the Cartel Del Noreste faction of Los Zetas.

The statements made by Olivarez clash with the longstanding narrative by several politicians, local police chiefs, and sheriffs who claim that border cities are safe. Those claims are usually backed up by statistics from the FBI Uniform Crime Report. However as Breitbart Texas has reported, the UCR only looks at seven specific crimes and does not account for criminal activity that is specific to border cities such as kidnappings, extortion, drug trafficking, human smuggling, and human trafficking.

Additionally, the terminology used by police departments for the UCR report allows them to hide the severity of certain crimes. One example particular to border cities deals with home invasions, where teams of gunmen storm into a house looking for drugs or cash. As Breitbart Texas has reported, home invasions are reported in the UCR report only as robberies.

Surge in Fentanyl Seizures Show Cartels Taking Advantage of Lax Border Policies, DHS Officials Say

Customs and Border Protection's fentanyl seizures skyrocketed by over 40 percent in the month of October, as drug traffickers and cartels take advantage of the border crisis.

Agency data show that CBP agents last month captured nearly 1,050 pounds of the lethal opioid, the fifth-highest amount in three years. For comparison, the amount of fentanyl seized in October is more than 2.5 times the amount the agency seized in the first three months of 2019 and roughly 40 percent of the amount seized in all of 2019.

The high amount of fentanyl busts coincides with skyrocketing opiate overdoses across the country—the Centers for Disease Control recorded a record-high 12-month overdose death toll between March 2020 and March 2021 with no signs of deceleration through the end of this year. The seizures also come as President Joe Biden reverses a number of border policies, a decision that critics say grants more opportunities for criminal elements to smuggle drugs into the country.

One senior Department of Homeland Security official told the Washington Free Beacon that drug smugglers are accelerating their operations as agents on the border face resource and manpower constraints with processing asylum claims instead of trying to stop drug smugglers.

"Cartels are exploiting the migrant crisis to expand drug and human smuggling," one senior DHS official said. "The administration knew full well that using agents to process mass groups of economic migrants would mean reducing the effort to combat crime. They alone own these failures."

The Biden administration has touted high seizure numbers as a success. Deputy White House Press Secretary Andrew Bates on Nov. 2 tweeted out an excerpt from an MSNBC piece that said, "The [fentanyl] seizures disprove one of the [GOP's] favorite talking points: If the president had implemented an ‘open-border' policy, as the right routinely claims, U.S. Customs and Border Protection wouldn't have stopped these shipments."

Officials within Border Patrol and DHS disputed that characterization by the White House, with the senior DHS official calling Bates's comment "galaxy brain" thinking.

Many states have pinned much of the blame for the opioid crisis on the Biden administration's immigration policies, calling them reckless and a public health threat.

West Virginia, which has been among the states hardest hit by the opioid crisis, in August filed a lawsuit against DHS and Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over the department's decision to end the Trump-era Migrant Protection Protocols, which force asylum seekers to remain in Mexico before their court dates in the United States. The state alleged in court that the decision contributed to the "devastating deadly flood of fentanyl across the Southwest border."

"By its consequences burdening and distracting the Border Patrol, the termination of the [Migrant Protection Protocols] decreases the security of the border against fentanyl trafficking between ports of entry, leading directly to both increased numbers of smuggling attempts and increased rates of success in evading Border Patrol," the lawsuit stated. Missouri in April filed a similar suit against DHS.

Research has found that just two milligrams of fentanyl can cause a lethal overdose in people with no prior use of the drug, meaning the amount of the drug seized in October alone could kill over 200 million people.

The influx of fentanyl from across the border has led to bipartisan efforts in Congress to ramp up law-enforcement efforts to arrest and prosecute dealers and traffickers. A group of Republican and Democratic senators in September introduced the Providing Officers with Electronic Resources Act, which provides grants to local law-enforcement agencies for portable fentanyl screening devices.
