President Joe Biden’s pro-migration border chief is offering work permits to the hundreds of thousands of young migrants who were smuggled into the United States via the “Unaccompanied Alien Children” (UAC) pipeline.

The new policy will provide “even more of a bonus for the smugglers and for the unscrupulous employers who look forward to being able to put these [UAC] minors to work in their poultry plants, restaurants, landscaping companies, and fields,” said Jessica Vaughan, the policy director at the Center for Immigration Studies. ‘They’re going to rubber-stamp [the work permit applications] as quickly as they can,” she added.

“I’m so happy [the government] is finally doing the right thing here and making it so young people with Special Immigrant Juvenile Status can support themselves and build a life,” tweeted Laura Barrera, an immigration lawyer working at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. “I don’t believe in deportation … in any case,” she tweeted on February 5.

The program is a stealthy spin-off of the highly controversial DACA giveaway — the “Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals” created by President Barack Obama in 2012 for roughly 800,000 migrants. Under DACA, officials give no-deportation passes and work permits to people who say they are illegal aliens.

“They’re creating the next DACA-like population,” said Rob Law, who worked at the Department of Homeland Security for President Donald Trump. “This is about giving work permits to the illegal-alien population … it’s about establishing the class of next non-U.S. citizen workers in the country.”

The numbers are potentially huge. In 2009, just 3,533 young people from Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador claimed UAC status as they crossed the border. The number jumped to 21,000 in 2013, and then 52,000 in 2o14.  The UACs numbers dropped to 15,687 in 2020 under President Donald Trump’s cautious policies but spiked to 114,0211 under Mayorkas’s easy-migration rules.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security

Overall, almost 600,000 UAC migrants had entered the country by January 2022, just 14 years after Congress unanimously passed the UAC law in 2008.

Biden’s border chief is Alejandro Mayorkas at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Mayorkas is portraying the giveaway as a benevolent gift to abandoned young migrants, dubbed “Special Immigrant Juveniles,” or SIJs.

“Today, we are taking action to help immigrant children in the U.S. who have been abused, neglected, or abandoned and offer them protection to help rebuild their lives,” said a statement from Ur Jaddou, at Mayorkas’s U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) agency. “These policies will provide humanitarian protection to vulnerable young people for whom a juvenile court has determined that it is in their best interest to remain in the United States,” said Jaddou.

Mayorkas is a wealthy and clever lawyer. His memo dismisses the impact of job competition on Americans’ wages: “Exercising our discretion to grant deferred action and possibly authorizing employment provides significant benefits to the U.S. labor pool and the economy in general compared to delaying such status.” For decades, that labor market has been tilted in favor of CEOs and investors by the federal government’s policy of extracting migrants from many poor countries to work, rent, and consume in the United States.

Under the 2008 UAC law, young migrants can ask border officials to treat them as unaccompanied alien children — even when coyotes and cartels publicly deliver them to the border in chartered buses that are funded by the migrants’ parents or by labor traffickers. Border officers then relay the blocs of supposedly unaccompanied migrants to the Department of Health and Human Services. The agency then relays the migrants to unverified sponsors after a security check, which is kept cursory because officials know the sponsors are usually labor traffickers or the youths’ illegal-immigrant parents.

“Honestly, I think almost everyone in the system knows that most of the [migrant] teens are coming to work and send money back home,” Maria Woltjen, executive director and founder of the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights, told a ProPublica reporter. “They want to help their parents,” she said in a November 2020 article which cited the case of Garcia, a Guatemalan youth who used the UAC loophole in 2018:

He was 15 and he had debts to pay, starting with the roughly $3,000 he owed for the “coyote” who guided him across Mexico from Guatemala. To finance the trip, his parents had taken out a bank loan, using their house as collateral. If he didn’t repay it, the family could lose its home.

The “everyone in the system knows” category includes many federal legislators and Mayorkas. He told Univision anchor Jorge Ramos in a March 2021 interview that “we need to invest and address the root causes so that parents do not need to send their children … to be placed in the hands of traffickers.”

At least 60 percent of the UACs are work-ready male youths, aged 16 or older the year they arrive. Many walk away from federal supervision to illegally take jobs that would otherwise go to diverse Americans at higher wages.

The younger UACs are the left-behind children of illegal migrants in the United States. The joint DHS-coyote smuggling route encourages migrants to separate themselves from their families by first going alone to the United States. The Mayorkas/coyote network also minimizes pressure on illegal migrants to go home, boosting New York City and other cities that prefer to build an economy on cheap labor.

The SIJ program was created in 1990 “to give [legal] status to kids who are on their own, truly left on their own, with no one else to turn to here in the United States — [such as] victims of trafficking or abandoned kids or orphans,” Vaughan said. “But the [implementing] rules were written with loopholes that you can drive a truck through,” she added.

The SIJ program is now being used by Mayorkas to help legalize the migrants who got into the country via the UAC program.

The UAC program was passed unanimously by Congress in 2008. It was also portrayed as a small-scale, short-term rescue program for the children who were victims of sex trafficking, for example.

Progressives are eager to ignore their support for the trafficking of child labor via the UAC pipeline. In February, Reuters reported on a teenager who was delivered by federal officials to an Alabama home close to a chicken processing company:

At age 16, when most kids in the United States are halfway through high school, Amelia Domingo found herself working on chicken processing machines in this farm town [Enterprise, Ala.] and deep in debt to loan sharks in her native Guatemala.

After borrowing $10,000 for smugglers to get her through Mexico, Amelia crossed into Arizona last February and turned herself over to [Customs and Border Protection] immigration officials. They led her, she said, from a crowded border facility to a shelter for unaccompanied minors. After about a month, officials from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, which oversees shelters for migrant children, released her to a sister here in Alabama.

One day, she said, she hopes to return to Guatemala. First, though, she must continue wiring most of her wages home, where her parents pay off the loan sharks and what she said is a dizzying interest rate of 10% per month. She’ll return, she said, “if I ever have the means.”

But the UAC law cuts off when DHS officials can no longer pretend that the young men and women are children. Three years after a young man tells border officials that is really aged 15, he is recorded as being an 18-year-old adult in the federal documents.

That is where Mayorkas’s new SIJ rule is intended to take over from the UAC law.

The SIJ law allows young migrant adults to ask judges for SIJ status — and green cards and citizenship — on the grounds that they were abandoned by the parents who funded their trip to the United States, and who usually stay in close contact via cellphones. They can ask for green cards even if one of their illegal-migrant parents is standing in the courtroom, said Vaughan.

The parents accused of abuse cannot defend themselves in court. But they do not want to defend themselves because they prefer the state judges — not federal judges — to award green cards to their children, she added.

But the SIJ pathway to green cards is already clogged.

Tens of thousands of former UACs are getting new SIJ status so they can apply for green cards. Yet the number of green cards awarded each year to the SIJs is limited because they come from the roughly 10,000 green cards allocated for various competing categories of “EB-4” migrants.

The number of claimed SIJs who were approved to get green cards spiked from 1,590 in 2012 up to 15,101 in 2016.

Mayorkas’s support for migrants includes two measures.

First, Mayorkas’s plan would reward the young migrants by giving them work permits before they eventually get their green cards.

A “Policy Alert” on March 7 says the agency will offer “deferred action (and related employment authorization) for noncitizens [aliens] classified as Special Immigrant Juveniles (SIJs) who are ineligible to apply for adjustment of status to lawful permanent resident (LPR) status solely due to visa unavailability.”

This decision to award workers deferred action and permits to tens of thousands of migrants is a mere memo, not a congressional law or agency regulation:

This update, contained in Volume 6 of the Policy Manual, is effective May 6, 2022 and applies to eligible noncitizens classified as SIJs before, on, or after that date based on an approved Petition for Amerasian, Widow(er), or Special Immigrant (Form I-360). This guidance is controlling and supersedes any prior guidance on the topic.

USCIS will not publish Federal Register notices requesting public comment because public notice is not required for internal policy clarifications.

The second measure is a draft regulation that streamlines the process of getting SIJ status for the migrants. For example, it says that the migrants can apply up to age 21, it allows judges in juvenile courts to grant the SIJ status, and that DHS will not “revoke” the SIJ status when the young migrant reconciles with a parent.

It says the SIJ request must be approved in 180 days, and also removes legal barriers, such as convictions for drug possession:

In the final rule, DHS has expanded application of the simple possession exception to the grounds of inadmissibility under INA section 212(a)(2)(A), 8 U.S.C. 1182(a)(2)(A) (conviction of certain crimes), INA section 212(a)(2)(B), 8 U.S.C. 1182(a)(2)(B) (multiple criminal convictions), and INA section 212(a)(2)(C), 8 U.S.C. 1182(a)(2)(C) (controlled substance traffickers). See new 8 CFR 245.1(e)(3)(v)(A).

The combination of the “Policy Alert” and the draft regulation is “huge,” tweeted Yliana Johansen-Méndez, an immigration lawyer at ImmDef, an L.A.-based advocacy group. “Although they don’t address the backlog itself, they provide stability & a chance to live life as members of our community – without fear of deportation, working, and in some cases starting a family.”

The new rules will encourage more labor migration into Americans’ jobs, responded Law. “You’re going to have an increased volume … USCIS is [becoming] a work-permit factory for illegal aliens instead of actually adjudicating legal immigration benefits,” he said.

Since at least 1990, the D.C. establishment has used a wide variety of excuses and explanations to justify its policy of extracting tens of millions of migrants and visa workers from poor countries to serve as workers, consumers, and renters for U.S investors and CEOs.

The economic strategy of extraction migration has no stopping point, and it is harmful to ordinary Americans because it cuts their career opportunities and their wages while also raising their housing costs.

Extraction migration also curbs Americans’ productivity, shrinks their political clout, and widens the regional wealth gaps between the Democrats’ coastal states and the Republicans’ Heartland states. The economic strategy also kills many migrants, violates workplace standards, separates families, and extracts wealth from the home countries.

An economy built on extraction migration also radicalizes Americans’ democratic, compromise-promoting civic culture and allows wealthy elites to ignore despairing Americans at the bottom of society. Migration is also backed by university progressives who desire to manage the chaos of a diverse society rather than being forever sidelined by cooperating citizens in a stable Republic.

Unsurprisingly, the wealth-shifting extraction migration policy is very unpopular, according to a wide variety of polls.

The polls show deep and broad public opposition to labor migration and the inflow of temporary contract workers into jobs sought by young U.S. graduates.

The opposition is growinganti-establishmentmultiracialcross-sexnon-racistclass-basedbipartisanrationalpersistent, and recognizes the solidarity that Americans owe to one another.

Matt Rosendale: No Taxpayer Money for Ukraine Until Border Wall Is Done

Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-MT) is leading an effort among House Republicans to stop American taxpayer money from being sent to Ukraine as the wall along the United States-Mexico border remains incomplete.

Last month, Rosendale introduced the “Secure America’s Borders First Act” to prohibit President Joe Biden’s administration from sending taxpayer-funded aid to Ukraine amidst its war with Russia until the border wall between the U.S. and Mexico is finished.

“The American people are sick and tired of career politicians consistently putting the interests of foreign nations above our own, we must put America first,” Rosendale wrote in a statement.

The legislation would require the Biden administration to end its halt on border wall construction and move forward with building 30-foot steel bollard barriers along the nearly 2,000-mile-long border.

Today, most of the southern border has no barrier.

“In Joe Biden’s first year in office, we have seen an invasion of over 2 million illegal aliens at our southern border,” Rosendale said:

While our nation has miserably failed to secure our own border and protect our own territorial integrity, we are now being told by ‘America Last’ politicians on both sides of the aisle, that it is our obligation to do so for Ukraine. Before warmongers rush America into another foreign conflict over the border of an Eastern European nation thousands of miles from our shores, at the very least they should ensure our southern border is secure first. [Emphasis added]

Reps. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Bob Good (R-VA), Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Paul Gosar (R-AZ), Jody Hice (R-GA), Mary Miller (R-IL), Ralph Norman (R-SC), Bill Posey (R-FL), and Randy Weber (R-TX) are co-sponsoring the legislation.

As Breitbart News reported, Biden wants to send $10 billion in taxpayer money to Ukraine even as his administration has spent $6 million every day to not build border wall.

Those plans come as Americans continue to say that the U.S. should stay out of the Ukraine-Russia conflict. Last month, a YouGov poll found that only 13 percent of Americans said they supported sending American troops to fight Russian troops.

Likewise, an Associated Press-NORC poll last month showed that 72 percent of Americans said the U.S. should play a “minor role” or “no role” at all in the conflict.

Tom Cotton: GOP Must Rebuild Economy for Working Class Americans with Less Immigration, More Labor Protections

8:41

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) says the Republican Party must be the party of less immigration and more labor protections, guided by the economic interests of working- and middle-class Americans.

During a speech at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, Cotton detailed the future of the Republican Party, which he said must keep the mantra “America First” at its core across all issues facing American citizens.

“Our economic policies should enrich the lives of Americans in this generation and the next,” Cotton said.

Most significantly, Cotton called on Republicans to reject globalism in all its forms in favor of an ideology that seeks to protect Americans’ livelihoods, jobs, wages, and quality of life.

“We must rebuild an economy that works for all citizens, especially the forgotten men and women left behind by decades of open borders, unfettered trade, and globalization,” Cotton said:

That starts with a basic truth rejected by Democrats and, unfortunately, too many Republicans: we are a nation with an economy, not an economy with a nation. We are a people with principles, not a set of principles with a people. [Emphasis added]

It’s often said America is an idea and it is, but it is far more. America is a real, particular nation, with real borders and real, flesh-and-blood people who share a language, a history, and a culture. [Emphasis added]

Such an economy, Cotton said, begins with the GOP fully backing a reduction to overall legal immigration to the United States. At current rates, the United States rewards 1.2 million legal immigrants with green cards annually in addition to 1.5 million foreign nationals who are given temporary visas to take American jobs.

Legal immigration levels have driven the United States population to a record 331.9 million, including the largest foreign-born population in the nation’s history, at 46.6 million. The policy artificially expands the nation’s labor market, forcing working- and middle-class Americans to compete for jobs against foreign nationals who often work for less pay.

“There is no right of free movement of a foreign people or foreign products into our nation … our immigration and trade policies should protect and serve the interests of the American people,” Cotton said:

For too long, cheap foreign labor, legal and illegal, has flooded our economy, driving down wages and driving many Americans out of their jobs. This has greatly enriched corporations, especially in the tech industry, at the expense of American workers and their families. [Emphasis added]

To boost wages and build an economy that is tilted toward the interests of working- and middle-class Americans, rather than the profit margins of big business, legal immigration ought to be greatly reduced, Cotton said.

“The level of immigration — legal and illegal — has been too high for too long,” Cotton said. “And too many immigrants come here without needed skills or any means of support. They’re admitted instead by the random chance of geographic proximity or family connections.

“We must reform our legal immigration system by ending chain migration, which allows a single migrant to bring in extended family members, who in turn do the same.” Cotton continued:

When so many impressive and highly skilled foreigners yearn to immigrate, it’s both unfair and unwise to admit new immigrants solely because of ties of blood. We should allow immigrants to bring their spouses and minor children, but that’s where the chain should end. We should replace chain migration with a skills-based system that selects immigrants with valuable skills, English-language ability, and the like. [Emphasis added]

The process known as “chain migration” allows newly naturalized citizens to bring an unlimited number of foreign relatives to America on green cards. Every two naturalized citizens bring, on average, about seven foreign relatives to the United States, with seven in ten new green card-holders arriving as chain migrants.

From 2005 to 2016, the U.S. imported about 9.3 million chain migrants.

Republican voters, a recent Gallup poll revealed, overwhelmingly want to cut legal immigration levels. Nearly 7 in 10 respondents said immigration should be reduced, as well as 32 percent of swing voters.

Further putting pressure on American jobs and wages, Cotton said, is illegal immigration. The goal of Republicans, he continued, should include building a wall along the United States-Mexico border as well as imposing harsh fines on employers hiring illegal aliens.

“I know that globalist CEOs who complain about American workers will protest [mandatory E-Verify], but here’s my answer: invest more in American workers, pay them more, and treat them better,” Cotton said. “The days of importing their replacements must come to an end.”

And we cannot tolerate Democratic demands for amnesty in return for a secure border, a tougher asylum system, and E-Verify. We can’t solve one crisis by laying the foundations for the next. We must learn from President Reagan’s greatest mistake: we must never agree to any form of amnesty in return for mere promises of enforcement. [Emphasis added]

In tandem with a reduction to overall immigration, Cotton said the U.S. must reduce its economic reliance on foreign countries like China.

“Free trade isn’t free unless it flows both ways,” Cotton said. “China isn’t engaged in free trade, not even close, and therefore it’s not entitled to preferential market access in America.”

In 1985, before China entered the World Trade Organization (WTO), the United States trade deficit with China totaled $6 billion. In 2021, the United States trade deficit with China hit more than $355 billion. The total United States trade deficit in 2021 came in at a record $859 billion.

The nation’s booming trade deficits have coincided with the loss of millions of American manufacturing jobs, as well as jobs in supporting industries. From 2001 t0 2018, for instance, the United States-China trade deficit eliminated 3.7 million American jobs.

Permanent 25 percent tariffs on all Chinese imports to the United States market would create about one million American jobs in five years, a study has shown.

“Despite all the recent tough talk, too many in Washington are still championing trade with China,” Cotton said. He continued:

Just last year, at the last minute, leaders of both parties dumped a massive, several-hundred-page amendment into an allegedly anti-China bill in the Senate. This amendment slashed tariff rates on hundreds of Chinese-made products. The Senate overwhelmingly approved the amendment. I was one of only four Senators to vote no. Such trade concessions to the Chinese Communist Party should never happen again. [Emphasis added]

For too long, our leaders have adopted short-term and shortsighted economic policies, selling off the inheritance of our ancestors for short-lived profit. We’ve been governed from quarter to quarter — as if America is a corporation, not a nation. This era must come to an end. [Emphasis added]

Indeed, a broad coalition of Republicans and Democrats in the House and Senate routinely band together to lobby on behalf of corporate special interests with the goal of protecting United States free trade with China, despite its economic costs to American communities.

In January, for instance, a group of GOP and Democrat lawmakers urged Biden to cut United States tariffs on China. Many of the lawmakers are the beneficiaries of donations from the American Apparel & Footwear Association, which helped draft the letter.

Republican voters hugely back decoupling from China and reshoring manufacturing, even if it drives up costs for consumers. A Chicago Council Survey in December 2021 found that 83 percent of GOP voters want to increase United States tariffs on China. In addition, 77 percent of Republicans said they want the United States to drastically reduce its trade with China.

New revelations about Hunter will hit President Joe Biden's already plummeting popularity

During Obama’s presidency, everyone joked that he selected Biden for VP because Biden’s incompetency insured that Obama would never be impeached. Yes, Obama was bad, but Biden would be worse. Now that Biden’s the president, that joke was 100% correct. Sadly, he’s multiple times worse than anyone imagined. Biden has more failures in one year than most presidents have in a lifetime – the Afghanistan debacle and surrender, huge crime spikes due to Democrat “defund the police” insanity, actively working to destroy the petroleum industry while supporting Russia’s, soaring inflation, open support and deference to China, and his weakness being directly responsible for Putin’s invasion of Ukraine -- to name just a few epic failures. As bad as Biden is as president, it’s obvious he selected Harris for the same reason that Obama selected him -- to insure he’s never removed from office. If you think things can’t possibly get worse, just look at Harris and you instantly realize – yes, they can. She would be multiple times worse than Joe.

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris leaves for Poland on Wednesday to broach the matter of “military assistance” for Ukraine, White House officials said, hours after Washington dismissed Warsaw’s unilateral plan to transfer Soviet-era MIG-29 fighter jets to a U.S. military base in Germany.

The trip was planned last week and was seen as a peace making effort by the White House, as Breitbart News reported.

Since then diplomatic events have moved rapidly culminating in Poland taking the Pentagon by surprise Tuesday by offering to send its Mig-29 jets “immediately and free of charge” to Ukraine via a U.S. air base.

Washington rejected the proposal.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said the prospect of warplanes departing from a U.S.-NATO base “into airspace that is contested with Russia over Ukraine raises serious concerns for the entire NATO alliance.”

Harris will meet with Polish President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on Thursday, according to U.S. officials who requested anonymity.

She’ll also meet with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau while in Warsaw. He has also been on the diplomatic trail in Europe this past week.

Harris will travel on Friday to Bucharest, where she’s to meet Romanian President Klaus Iohannis.

Kamala Proves the Peter Principle

Most of my life, I assumed that we elected serious politicians and appointed competent people to deal with the country’s complex problems -- the Cold War, the Vietnam War, the Civil Rights Movement, the economy, immigration, terrorism, foreign policy, natural disasters, etc. -- major problems that required competent people, serious about addressing (and fixing) the issues.

That was then, this is now. America is no longer a serious country, and the West is not a serious culture. Proof of how far we’ve fallen -- boys claim they’re girls, girls claim they’re boys and we must accept the new biology or be cancelled; racism is openly taught in public schools under the lie called Critical Race Theory (thank you, teachers unions); schoolchildren are taught to hate the country’s very founding claiming more racism; the military is focused on white rage (not defeating our enemies); and we installed an imbecile (as president) who mumbles the words his handlers put on the teleprompter. Vice President (VP) Kamala Harris is further proof that, as a nation, we’re unserious.

Watching Kamala, Biden, Tony Blinken, Pete Buttigieg, etc. it’s obvious that the Peter Principle is at work. The Peter Principle says that people rise to the level of their incompetence.

It’s difficult to believe that Biden could find someone less competent than himself, but he did. Among the vast numbers of very unintelligent politicians, VP Kamala is perhaps the least competent and least intelligent of them all. Her diminished mental acuity is Biden’s insurance against replacing him. Kamala’s incoherent statements are legendary. Following are some examples:

  • She told us her pronouns are “she, her, and hers.” What should a woman’s pronouns be? Oh, that’s right, in Democrat world, boys can be girls and vice versa. Only Dems and Leftist understand such nonsense.
  • Months after Kamala was appointed the immigration/border security czar, she was challenged why she had not visited the Mexican border. Her snarky response, “and I haven’t been to Europe either.” Say what?
  • January 2022, Harris was asked if it’s time to change COVID strategy. Kamala responded, “It’s time for us to do what we have been doing, and that time is every day. Every day it is time for us to agree that there are things available to us.” I have no clue what she said. Unfortunately, neither does she.
  • Last month, at a NATO conference held to discuss Russia’s massed troops threatening to invade Ukraine, Kamala made the following comment, “Perhaps this is a moment, as life presents us with these moments, that challenge us to ask what is our reason for being? I think we all know the history of NATO and its reason for being. The spirit behind this term we use “the transatlantic community”, the word community meaning a collection, not a collection of individuals who see themselves as a collection, than as one.” Despite such incoherent babble, Putin invaded Ukraine two days later.
  • When NBC asked her about sanctions on Russia’s oil industry, Harris said, “As it relates to what we need to do domestically as well as what we need to do in terms of this issue generally, we have, as the president said, reevaluated what we’re doing”
  • Finally, further proof that Biden is not serious, he appointed Kamala as point person on Ukraine. Why not Biden, you ask? Good question, but he goes home to Delaware most weekends; perhaps that’s why he delegates war and Ukraine to Kamala. To demonstrate her superior knowledge on Europe (she’s now been once), a radio show asked her to explain the Ukraine situation to its audience. Harris said, “Ukraine is a country in Europe. It exists next to another country called Russia. Russia is a bigger country. Russia is a powerful country. Russia decided to invade a smaller country called Ukraine. So, basically that’s wrong.”

Yes, those were her words. Her condescending answers tell us everything about her. She belittles the audience. She can’t talk normally to people because she thinks we’re too dumb to understand the situation. Then again, who’s surprised? Our elite leftists (Hillary, Obama, NY Times readers, academics, Hollywood, the media, etc.) think we’re beneath them because we haven’t been educated at Harvard or Yale. They demand we defer to their superior education to save us uneducated bumpkins out here in places like rural Georgia. With Kamala, Biden, and his entire administration, the Peter Principle is alive and well. Between Biden’s and Harris’ constant idiotic statements, it’s almost impossible to quantify which one is the least capable.

However, we still have three more years for one or the other to rise (or fall) to their ultimate level of incompetence.

The White House is sending Vice President Kamala Harris to Europe next week to reassure NATO allied countries the United States stands with them.

The Vice President will travel to Poland and Romana, two countries bordering Ukraine, where Russian President Vladimir Putin has significantly escalated his military invasion in recent weeks.

“Her visit will demonstrate the strength and unity of the NATO Alliance and U.S. support for NATO’s eastern flank allies in the face of Russian aggression,” Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh said in a statement to reporters about the vice president’s visit.

Her trip will take place March 9-11.

This will be the second trip for Harris to Europe in just weeks, as she was also sent Germany for the Munich Security Conference to demonstrate the strength and support of the United States.

During that trip she met with world leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and publicly warned Putin that if he further invaded Ukraine, he would be met with punishing sanctions.

“These are some of the greatest sanctions, if not the strongest, that we’ve ever issued,” the vice president said to reporters during her trip, noting that, “The purpose of the sanctions has always been and continues to be deterrence.”

When asked by reporters if the sanctions would deter Putin, she replied, “Absolutely.”

The Russian president chose to escalate his war in Ukraine anyway.

Afterward, President Joe Biden admitted that he never believed sanctions would prevent Putin from escalating the war.

“No one expected the sanctions to prevent anything from happening,” he said. “This is going to take time.”

Russians have been crossing into America from Mexico

President Biden is more worried about Russians crossing their border with Ukraine than he is about the Russians crossing our border with Mexico.

The problem with America’s porous southern border and an unfinished wall to serve as a deterrent is the inability to know who has entered into the United States. Other than wanting to get into America without following the legal process, we know nothing about the countless illegals  who are already here, including rough estimates that are close to accurate.

Border Patrol drone video of unknown illegals crossing the border

Most people who cross illegally may be decent and simply want to take care of their families as best they can. Then there are those unknown from all over the world who are not decent and have no honorable intentions. Without a means to identify people coming across the border illegally, there may very well be war criminals and other bad actors hiding from their own people.

Several outlets have reported Russians being found at the southern border. Not a small number, but thousands with no way to know how many Russians are in America illegally. The cartels deliver anyone who will pay without question.

On January 30 of this year, Business Insider had an article by Sarah Al-Arshani, The US southern border saw a growing number of migrants from Russia, Ukraine, and other distant countries last month, stated:

“In December, over 2,000 Russians and 300 Ukrainians made their way to the border. Axios reported most of them had either arrived or were found at a legal port of entry in San Diego, California.”

Over 2000 Russian at a single port of entry who were caught, compared to how many at other points in last December alone who made it into the United States. There are several unverified stories about Russian saboteurs who were already in Ukraine before Russia invaded, which is certainly in line with Putin’s history.

The Russians who are currently in the United States illegally are an unknown threat. Not just the potential added ranks to the Russian mob, one of the most brutal organized criminal organizations in the world, if not the worst, but Russian saboteurs as well.

Ukraine has been invaded, again. Under another Democratic president who will do nothing, just like Obama with Crimea.  If sanctions worked, there would have been no invasion a second time and Crimea would have returned to Ukraine. What are new sanctions going to do to Putin? Same thing as the old. Absolutely nothing.

If there are enough saboteurs in place and the Russian Mob supplying weapons, we could be very busy fighting an enemy from within and without.  An attack on American power grids would be devastating to the country and easy target with the right military hardware in place.

That is just one of numerous potential targets that could easily be attacked by Russian saboteurs that are most likely already in the United States. Motivated individuals have carried out devastating attacks against America in the past through military or terroristic actions and will do so in the future.

Considering the weakness of Biden, God help all Americans if it happens during his presidency.

Exclusive—Matt Mowers: ‘If Biden Was Serious About Immigration, He’d Defund Sanctuary Cities to Build the Wall’

New Hampshire’s First Congressional District Republican candidate Matt Mowers, who is looking to unseat vulnerable Democrat Rep. Chris Pappas, exclusively told Breitbart News after President Joe Biden’s “wildly hypocritical” State of the Union address that “if Biden was serious about immigration” which he brought up during his address, “he’d defund sanctuary cities to build the wall” on the Southern Border.

Mowers — who worked in Trump Tower during the 2016 campaign, served on former President Donald Trump’s transition team, and then was a senior White House adviser at the State Department before being the  Republican nominee who ran against Pappas in 2020 —  slammed Biden’s “wildly hypocritical” call to secure the border by outlining his plan to Breitbart News.

Mowers told Breitbart News that to complete the security wall at the Southern Border, the United States should direct federal aid sent to local jurisdictions that either refuse to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement and/or allow noncitizens to vote.

“Enough is enough,” Mowers said on the Biden administration’s “hypocritical” immigration position.

“Despite his ham-handed, throwaway line at the State of the Union, it is one year later, and Joe Biden’s open border disaster has left our communities ravaged by a record amount of illegal drug activity, including lethal fentanyl doses, and the devastating effects of human trafficking,” Mowers said explaining on his position.

He continued, “If woke politicians in Sanctuary Cities continue to aid and abet the Administration’s reckless disregard for the safety and well-being of their fellow Americans, they should lose their federal funding in favor of supporting and completing the security wall at the Southern Border.”

Mowers, who appears to be the first candidate to call on the Biden administration to take this position, was also the first on many other initiatives:

  • In January 2020, at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, called for a travel ban from China before the country started to shut down.
  • In January 2022, Mowers was the first candidate to strongly come out against members of Congress and their family members from trading stocks and the first candidate in the country.
  • In February 2022, he also was the first candidate for National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan to resign after the explosive allegations from Special Counsel John Durham were made public.

“It is long past the time to take back control of this situation from violent cartels and to empower our communities to protect themselves,” he concluded.

Biden Wants $10B to Protect Ukraine’s Border After Spending $6M Every Day to Not Build U.S.-Mexico Border Wall

President Joe Biden is looking to spend more than $10 billion in American taxpayer money to protect the borders of Ukraine even as he spent $6 million every day to not build a wall along the United States-Mexico border.

On Thursday, Punchbowl News reported that Biden will request Congress approve $10 billion in “emergency military and humanitarian aid for Ukraine and Eastern European allies” amid the region’s ongoing conflict.

Already, Biden has issued $350 million to help protect Ukraine’s borders.

Meanwhile, infrastructure at the U.S.-Mexico border has been neglected for over a year by the Biden administration. Immediately after taking office, Biden halted all construction of border wall, leaving materials to rust in the region’s desert-like weather.

In March of 2021, Breitbart News exclusively reported that Biden had been spending about $6 million every day in taxpayer money to not build the border wall. By July, Biden had spent $2 billion to not build the wall, with costs leveling out to about $3 million in taxpayer money wasted every day.

As Biden focuses attention on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the nation sees its own invasion where more than two million border crossers and illegal aliens arrived at the southern border last year — a record-setting figure of illegal immigration not seen before in American history.

Likewise, Biden has ensured that more than 530,000 border crossers and illegal aliens who arrived at the border last year were subsequently released into the U.S. interior. The figure is likely some hundreds of thousands higher, but the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has refused to reveal the official total.

This year, experts are predicting that Biden will again set a new illegal immigration record with more than 2.1 million border crossers and illegal aliens expected to arrive at the U.S.-Mexico border. Hundreds of thousands of those arrivals are likely to be released into the U.S. interior.

In January alone, Biden released into the U.S. interior more than 62,500 border crossers and illegal aliens — a foreign population more than twice the size of Princeton, New Jersey; nearly twice the size of Lexington, Massachusetts; and more than six times the size of Jackson, Wyoming.

Exclusive — Rep. Ashley Hinson Introduces Bill to Combat ‘Unacceptable’ Lack of ICE Data Disclosure

Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA) released a statement to Breitbart News Thursday blasting the Biden administration for refusing to divulge its immigration enforcement data and unveiling a resolution of inquiry to demand the information.

Hinson’s Resolution of Inquiry, if passed, would require the Biden administration to release data on the border crisis unfolding under the 46th president’s administration. So far, Joe Biden has failed to produce this immigration data.

“While the Biden Administration is turning a blind eye to the crisis at the border, Americans want accountability, answers, and an action plan to secure the border,” Hinson told Breitbart News. “It is unacceptable that the Administration continues to hide information from the American people about the impact their policies are having on immigration enforcement and border security.”

Hinson’s resolution of inquiry would require Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to release, within 14 days:

  • the absconder rates for those enrolled in the Alternatives to Detention program
  • the number of criminals arrested by ICE, with data sorted by crime
  • the number of ICE enforcement activities that resulted in convictions
  • the number of detainers by ICE, including those with a criminal history
  • the number of removals conducted by ICE, including those with a criminal history

Resolutions of Inquiry are House resolutions that the chamber uses to obtain information that the executive branch will not provide.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) has routinely released a report at the end of the year, detailing ICE activity during the previous fiscal year. ICE has delayed the report and claimed it would be out in January.

ICE issued an interim guidance in February 2021 that made ICE agents focus on narrow “enforcement priorities.” Deportations and enforcement operations dropped precipitously, going down by more than 130,000 from fiscal year 2020.

Hinson wrote on Wednesday that Biden failed to address the border crisis still unfolding more than a year into his administration.

She explained, “Missing from President Biden’s #SOTU? A plan to secure our border. We need to enforce our immigration laws, enforce the Remain in Mexico policy and support our border patrol agents on the ground.”

POVERTY SPREADS ACROSS AMERICA AS JOE BIDEN AND GEORGE W BUSH SPREAD ILLEGALS ACROSS AMERICA TO KEEP WAGES DEPRESSED.

35 Signs That Prove That The Working Class Is Being Systematically Wiped Out

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvTDjfXUstc

WHAT IF BUSH HAD WORKED 1/10th AS HARD FOR MIDDLE AMERICA AS HE HAS HIS 'CHEAP' LABOR MEXICANS?!?

 BUSH = POS!

Former President George W. Bush wants President Joe Biden to accelerate the inflow of wealth-shifting migrants into the U.S. economy, and he also wants Republicans to rally behind GOP Senate leader Mitch McConnell.

Migration moves money, and since at least 1990, the federal government has tried to extract people from poor countries so they can serve U.S. investors as cheap workers, government-aided consumers, and high-density renters in the U.S. economy.

That economic strategy has no stopping point, and it is harmful to ordinary Americans because it cuts their career opportunities and their wages while it also raises their housing costs.

Extraction migration also curbs Americans’ productivity, shrinks their political clout, and widens the regional wealth gaps between the Democrats’ coastal states and the Republicans’ Heartland states.

An economy built on extraction migration also radicalizes Americans’ democratic, compromise-promoting civic culture and allows wealthy elites to ignore despairing Americans at the bottom of society.

Unsurprisingly, a wide variety of little-publicized polls do show deep and broad opposition to labor migration and the inflow of temporary contract workers into jobs sought by young U.S. graduates.

The opposition is growinganti-establishmentmultiracialcross-sexnon-racistclass-basedbipartisanrationalpersistent, and recognizes the solidarity that Americans owe to each other.

EXCLUSIVE: South Texas Sheriff Arrested on Corruption Charges

CARRIZO SPRINGS, Texas — Dimmit County Sheriff Marion Boyd was arrested on charges involving official oppression and evidence tampering, according to a law enforcement source familiar with a Texas Rangers investigation. The sheriff and an unidentified deputy were arrested Wednesday.

The source relayed to Breitbart Texas the charges stem from alleged actions that not yet revealed to the public. The source indicates Boyd was allowed to surrender at the Dimmit County Jail, which he supervises, and was subsequently released on bond a short time later. The conditions of his release have not been made public as of press time.

The source says federal agencies are also participating in the case against Boyd and additional charges may be filed in the future. Charges of official oppression may involve the incarceration of individuals for longer than two days without a finding of probable cause.

The source told Breitbart Texas that a yet to be identified deputy was also arrested and faces similar charges. Boyd’s arrest was confirmed by the Texas Department of Public Safety, the umbrella organization for the Texas Rangers. No other details were released.

Boyd has occupied the position since 2013 and his current term expires in December 2024. Dimmit County experienced a surge in migrant smuggling activity in recent months. Vehicle pursuits involving human smugglers are now common, according to official social media posts. It is not clear if any of the charges Boyd faces stem from enforcement actions related to the current border crisis.

Bush Center, Chamber of Commerce, Koch Network Unite to Lobby for Mass Immigration Expansion

The George W. Bush Institute, the Chamber of Commerce, and the billionaire Koch brothers’ network of donor class organizations are banding together with other mass migration groups to demand President Joe Biden expand overall immigration to the United States.

The groups, along with others, have teamed up to create the Alliance for a New Immigration Consensus that will lobby Biden and members of Congress to pass amnesty for illegal aliens, increase security at the southern border, and increase the ability of businesses to import foreign workers.

“Employers are also struggling to find workers to fill jobs in many industries,” the coalition writes in a letter to congressional leaders and Biden. As of January, more than 12 million Americans are jobless and another 3.7 million are underemployed, but all want full-time jobs.

The coalition includes:

  • AmericanHort
  • American Hotel & Lodging Association
  • Americans for Prosperity
  • Asian American Christian Collaborative
  • Bethany Christian Services
  • Bipartisan Policy Center Action
  • Business Roundtable
  • Council on National Security and Immigration
  • Essential Worker Immigration Coalition
  • The Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention
  • Evangelical Immigration Table
  • Gaby Pacheco
  • George W. Bush Institute
  • Idaho Dairymen’s Association
  • International Fresh Produce Association
  • National Association of Evangelicals
  • National Association of Manufacturers
  • National Immigration Forum
  • National Latino Evangelical Coalition
  • National Retail Federation
  • Niskanen Center
  • Presidents’ Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration
  • The Episcopal Church
  • The LIBRE Initiative
  • The U.S. Chamber of Commerce
  • Western Growers
  • World Relief
  • Migration and Refugee Services, U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops

At his State of the Union (SOTU) address, Biden parrotted big business talking points, suggesting that businesses needed to be able to more quickly and easily import foreign workers to take working and middle class American jobs.

Biden also directly touted the Chamber’s support for amnesty and expanded legal immigration levels.

The coalition has been formed as American voters increasingly share that they want legal immigration levels reduced, not increased.

The latest Gallup poll found that just nine percent of Americans said they want increased immigration, while 35 percent said they want less immigration. Likewise, nearly 7-in-10 Republican voters and 32 percent of swing voters said they want to cut overall immigration.

In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News in January, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) blasted the Chamber of Commerce for leaving “the [Republican] Party a long time ago.”

“In the last election, the Chamber supported Democrats … I just assume they have as much influence in the future as they do now — none,” McCarthy said. “Our responsibility is to the American public. That is who’s going to drive it. If special interests are the American public then they’ll have a say, but it’s the American public we’re going to.”

A flooded labor market from mass legal immigration to the U.S. has had a devastating impact on the nation’s working and middle class while redistributing billions in wealth to the highest earners and big businesses, as well as driving capital out of small communities to the coasts.

While creating an economy that tilts in favor of employers, the economic model helped keep wages stagnant for decades. From 1979 to 2013, wage growth for the bottom 90 percent of Americans grew just 15 percent. Meanwhile, wage growth for the top one percent of Americans was nearly 140 percent higher.

Researchers have found that a flooded labor market can easily diminish job opportunities and wages for Americans.

One particular study by the Center for Immigration Studies’ Steven Camarota revealed that for every one percent increase in the immigrant portion of an American workers’ occupation, their weekly wages are cut by perhaps 0.5 percent. This means the average native-born American worker today has his weekly wages reduced by potentially 8.75 percent as more than 17 percent of the workforce is foreign-born.

Already, the U.S. gives out 1.2 million green cards to foreign nationals annually. In addition, about 1.5 million temporary work visas are rewarded to foreign nationals to take American jobs. Moreover, the U.S. saw more than two million border crossers and illegal aliens arrive at its southern border last year.

Legal immigration levels have driven the U.S. population to a record 331.9 million, including the largest foreign-born population in the nation’s history at 46.6 million.

Afghan Adjustment Act’ Would Legalize 36,000 Unvetted Afghans

Don’t ask questions, just give them their citizenship.

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is an investigative journalist and writer focusing on the radical Left and Islamic terrorism.

Biden’s evacuation brought tens of thousands of Afghans to America.

The majority of them were not interpreters, had no visas, and no basis for entering the country. Despite that, they were rapidly brought here with virtually no vetting, dropped off at military bases, and then put through the resettlement process across the United States.

There’s no one problem.

At last count around 36,000 Afghans or 40% of the “refugees” had no legal basis for being evacuated even after the Biden administration and its congressional allies, both Democrat and Republican, watered down standards for applying for SIV visas so much so that virtually any Afghan employed in any capacity by any contractors, charities, or even the media qualified.

The vast majority of Afghans in the evacuation were not visa recipients, but the evacuees got past Taliban checkpoints even while Americans and visa holders were being turned back.

Many of them have no paperwork and no legitimate basis for even claiming political asylum.

The same coalition of administration officials, congressional staffers, and refugee resettlement profiteers who perpetrated this mess have a shortcut in mind for legalizing all of them anyway.

A proposed Afghan Adjustment Act would grant the Afghan migrants, at least 36,000 of them, permanent legal residency and put them on a pathway to demanding citizenship.

Tens of thousands of Afghans have been turned loose on “humanitarian parole” for two years, which gives the refugee resettlement organizations handling their cases plenty of time to figure out some basis for applying for a more permanent asylum, but they don’t want to follow the law.

Why not?

Despite the virtual lack of vetting, hundreds of the Afghan migrants are being flagged as security risks. 50 believed to be security risks were already released in this country and the majority of them are in the wind. Four have already been involved in sexual assault cases. Considering how much the Afghans have misbehaved in so little time, the refugee resettlement contractors are understandably worried that much more damaging information will come out after two years.

The new rush to lobby for an Afghan Adjustment Act, still in draft form, exploits the outrage and sentiment over the botched Afghanistan evacuation to rapidly legalize all of the Afghans here.

We were rushed into this disaster and we’re still being rushed into more disastrous decisions.

Biden told us that we had to urgently evacuate Afghanistan, but he was the one who chose to turn over Kabul to the Taliban, and to create the conditions that allowed the terrorists to quickly seize the country. Once the Afghans were evacuated, there should have been plenty of time to hold them at overseas bases in Qatar and elsewhere, then thoroughly screen and vet them.

Instead, the Biden administration pushed to cut refugee resettlement and vetting times from years to days. What exactly was the rush to evacuate the Afghans, not from Kabul, but from Qatar? Now, with two years to go, there’s a new rush to give the Afghans instant legal status.

What’s the rush? They’re no longer fleeing the Taliban. They’re safely in America. What’s the excuse for not properly screening and vetting them through the normal asylum process?

Bringing tens of thousands of Afghans to America and rapidly resettling them, even though they had no long term legal status, was meant to make the invasion irreversible. Now that the Afghans are scattered from Omaha to Philly to the Bay Area, the odds of deporting them after two years are slim, but the Afghan Adjustment Act would lock in their status, and make it very difficult to deport them even if they turn out to be terrorists, rapists, and other kinds of criminals.

It also speeds up the process of demographic change by which they will import family members, and alleged family members, to this country in order to transform cities, states, and the nation.

The House version of the Afghan Adjustment Act is being drafted by Rep. Earl Blumenauer, one of the most notorious shills for Islamists, and the Democrats are trying to enlist Republicans into foolishly backing the rushed effort to rapidly legalize a population of unvetted Afghan migrants.

Refugee resettlers like the Church World Service and HIAS, as well as umbrella groups like the Refugee Council, which also includes Islamic Relief USA, Amnesty International, the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, OXFAM, and other players in the same racket, are pressuring congress to legalize all the Afghans now while asking questions later. Or never.

And the first question is who are the Afghan migrants and why can’t we wait to find that out?

The pressure campaign around the Afghan Adjustment Act is aimed at protecting the Afghan migrants from having to apply for asylum. The advocates for instant legalization claim that the backlog of asylum requests is too long, but that’s the doing of their own organizations which have done everything possible to Cloward-Piven the refugee system by pushing open borders.

If the refugee asylum process were reserved for people fleeing political and religious persecution, as they should be, instead of Latin Americans fleeing high crime rates, we wouldn’t be overwhelmed with a massive backlog of frivolous asylum requests by illegal border invaders.

And two years is plenty of time in which to process the current requests if that were the issue.

Instead the refugee resettlement lobby wants a free pass for 36,000 Afghans. And it wants to rush Americans into once again going along without asking any of the important questions..

Americans have been lied to about the Afghan evacuation at every turn. Politicians, the media, and the resettlers kept telling us that they were providing visas to interpreters. But the vast majority of Afghans need their own interpreters and most of them never worked with the military.

If they had, they would qualify for SIV visas.

40% of the Afghans, those tens of thousands, not only didn’t work for our military, but never worked with any American organization in any capacity or they would qualify for a visa.

After lying to us about saving “interpreters”, and lying about the Afghans being carefully “vetted”, they’re trying to pull off the biggest scam yet by retroactively legalizing their illegal evacuation under the umbrella of an Afghan Adjustment Act which will shut down any further scrutiny.

Why don’t they want the Afghans to apply for asylum? The answer is painfully obvious. Just as it was obvious why they dismantled the visa standards for Afghans every single step of the way.

The Biden administration never vetted the tens of thousands of Afghans it imported into America. It and its refugee resettlement allies want to make sure that they never are.

Discovering the real truth about the Afghanistan withdrawal will require close scrutiny of what happened in the White House, in the Pentagon, and in the State Department. The tens of thousands of Afghans who got on the planes, when Americans and visa holders could not, the Taliban checkpoints, and the suicide bombing at the airport are all part of a larger puzzle.

The Afghan Adjustment Act isn’t a humanitarian gesture to persecuted people: it’s a cover-up.

George W. Bush Deputy Urges Removal of Title 42 Anti-Migration Barrier

Former President George W. Bush wants President Joe Biden to accelerate the inflow of wealth-shifting migrants into the U.S. economy, and he also wants Republicans to rally behind GOP Senate leader Mitch McConnell.

“The Biden Administration should exercise its unilateral power to … remove the arbitrary and harmful border policies under Title 42” that was imposed by President Donald Trump, said an op-ed in the El Paso Times by Laura Collins, the director of the George W. Bush Institute-SMU Economic Growth Initiative.

The Title 42 barrier barred the inflow of migrants during the epidemic. Biden’s deputies are keeping the barrier in place — but they are letting more than 50 percent of migrants through the barrier.

The Biden inflow of 1.5 million migrants during 2021 is reducing Americans’ wages, driving up their housing prices, and shifting investment and wealth from the GOP-led heartland states to the Democrat-dominated coastal states.

The op-ed comes as Bush is quietly helping McConnell to recruit anti-Trump Republicans for Senate races, according to a February 13 article in the New York Times:

PHOENIX — For more than a year, former President Donald Trump has berated Gov. Doug Ducey of Arizona, savaging him for refusing to overturn the state’s presidential results and vowing to oppose him should he run for the Senate this year.

In early December, though, Mr. Ducey received a far friendlier message from another former Republican president. At a golf tournament luncheon, George W. Bush encouraged him to run against Senator Mark Kelly, a Democrat, suggesting the Republican Party needs more figures like Mr. Ducey to step forward.

“It’s something you have to feel a certain sense of humility about,” the governor said this month of Mr. Bush’s appeal. “You listen respectfully, and that’s what I did.””

“Mr. Ducey also has been lobbied by the G.O.P. strategist Karl Rove, the liaison to Mr. Bush, who sought to reassure the governor that he could win,” the article reported.

Bush has championed business-first, cheap-labor migration policies for decades. Those policies were so unpopular that Bush’s brother, Jeb Bush, lost the 2016 nomination to a political outsider, Donald Trump.

When Bush was in office from 2001 to 2009, he pushed a plan — dubbed “Any Willing Worker” — that would have allowed  U.S. employers to hire foreigners when the offered wages were too low for Americans. “New immigration laws should serve the economic needs of our country,” Bush announced on January 7, 2004. “If an American employer is offering a job that American citizens are not willing to take, we ought to welcome into our country a person who will fill that job,” he said.

The plan extended his father’s 1990 immigration expansion bill, which doubled immigration and allowed high-tech companies to import their own labor supply from India and China instead of hiring Americans laid off by free trade with China.

Bush is still pushing the cheap-labor policies that shift wealth and political power from ordinary Americans to investors on Wall Street. For example, throughout 2021, Bush worked with business groups — including the diverse Koch network — to help Biden push his immigration-expansion bill.

In her February 4 op-ed, Collins described the job-seeking economic migrants as merely “vulnerable migrants,” but betrayed her agenda by arguing that they should be released once they are caught at the border:

Make no mistake, reopening ports of entry and reverting to normal processing of border crossers under immigration law will cause initial capacity constraints … [and] may temporarily increase the numbers of migrants. But the U.S. government has effective tools to manage this, such as alternatives to detention for migrants who aren’t a public safety concern.

Collins also argued that the migrants be fast-tracked into the labor market, saying:

… it’s our obligation as Americans to be a beacon of freedom and opportunity to migrants who have lived under oppression and persecution. Streamlining how we adjudicate asylum requests could drastically reduce the backlog while also respecting the asylum seekers’ human rights.

But none of these recommendations will matter if we don’t substantially reform our legal immigration system. A robust, functioning legal immigration system, with many opportunities across skills and education levels, is necessary to fill open jobs in the United States and reduce pressures on the border.

Collins also insisted that Biden’s deputies revive his January bill that would dramatically increase the inflow of blue-collar workers, foreign graduates, consumers, and renters into the U.S. economy:

The U.S. Citizenship Act, the administration’s proposal to modernize the immigration system, was unveiled a year ago, but we’ve seen little public leadership since. Without an overhaul of our legal migration policies, we will never appropriately manage the migrants who show up at our door, desperate for just a chance at better economic opportunities for themselves and their families.

The 2022 push is echoed by Bush’s former deputies, including Stuart Verdery, who now runs a business-funded pro-migration advocacy campaign. In a February 7 op-ed for TheHill.com, Verdery wrote:

Additionally, legalization of agriculture workers always has attracted bipartisan support, and the spike in food prices makes it even more essential that our crops can be harvested on time and without disruption.

Lastly, the need to retain high-skilled students and temporary workers as long-term citizens in the information economy is the most critical element of immigration reform. Attracting and keeping the best and the brightest is no different in business and medicine than in sports and entertainment. Can you imagine telling the Yankees that they can only look for shortstops among U.S. citizens?
