Chicago Church Announces ‘Fasting from Whiteness’ During Lent
First United Church of Oak Park has been “fasting from whiteness” during the season of Lent by abstaining from all music associated with white people.
In a post on its website, the congregation said it will replace “music or liturgy written or composed by white people” with music from other minority groups.
“For Lent this year, First United is doing a mix of ‘giving something up’ and ‘taking something on.’ In our worship services throughout Lent, we will not be using any music or liturgy written or composed by white people,” the statement said.
“Our music will be drawn from the African American spirituals tradition, from South African freedom songs, from Native American traditions, and many, many more,” it added.
Turning Point USA reported the church also erected a sign that said it would be specifically “fasting from whiteness” throughout the season meant to honor Jesus Christ’s walk through the desert for 40 days and 40 nights.
“This Lent, we build our worship life around the voices of black people, indigenous people, and people of color,” the sign read.

The church will also be “fasting from whiteness” with reflections called “evotionals.” One dated from March 29, titled “Kindness and Privilege,” said, “We honor our fast from whiteness this Lent by prioritizing the voice of Bruce Reyes-Chow through a chapter of his book, In Defense of Kindness.”
According to Fox Nashville, Reyes-Chow is “a minority pastor and author who has written books such as, Don’t Be an Asshat: An Official Handbook for Raising Parents and Children and But I Don’t See You as Asian: Curating Conversations about Race.

The First United Church of Oak Park in Chicago went fully woke for Lent this year, announcing it will be “fasting from whiteness” and will not allow the singing of hymns that are written by white musicians but will instead draw on “African American spirituals tradition.”
The church asserted that it will do a combination of “giving something up” and “taking something on” for Lent by divisively abstaining from white composers in favor of minority ones.
“In our worship services throughout Lent, we will not be using any music or liturgy written or composed by white people. Our music will be drawn from the African American spirituals tradition, from South African freedom songs, from Native American traditions, and many, many more,” the church’s website states.
“For Lent, it is our prayer that in our spiritual disciplines we may grow as Christians, united in the body of Christ with people of all ages, nations, races, and origins,” the church added.
Turning Point USA reported on the church’s racial declaration, blasting the move as taking America “back to segregation times.”
The church put up an outdoor sign promoting the 40-day religious observance. Ironically, the church’s pastor is Rev. John Edgerton who is white and a radical leftist.
He is known for virtue-signaling and boasting about being arrested while confronting former Utah Senator Orrin Hatch in 2017 over the proposed repeal of former President Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act. He posted a picture of himself at the time on Facebook being led away in handcuffs by police.
“Thank you for your prayers. I’ve been released and everyone involved is safe. We confronted Senator Orrin Hatch earlier in the day, sharing personal stories of what a repeal of the Affordable Care Act would mean, and asking that he share his plan for replacing the Affordable Care Act,” he wrote at the time.
“He ignored us in the hallway, pretending as if we weren’t there. He ignored a woman named Jamie as she asked him how her three children, now covered under the ACA, will be able to see a doctor,” the pastor added. “He tried to ignore us, and so we sat in front of his office and refused to leave. We were non-violent and loving and absolutely unashamed.”
This same church hypocritically claims that it is intent on “valuing people of all races, ethnicities, cultural identities, gender identities, sexual orientations, and abilities in every aspect of our congregational life.”
The fast was further promoted in the church’s March 29 Evotional newsletter, claiming the church will proceed “to honor our fast from whiteness this Lent by prioritizing the voice of Bruce Reyes-Chow” and by sharing a chapter of his book, In “Defense of Kindness.”
“For many of us, being uncomfortable about public protests or what we perceive as aggressive expressions of frustration simply identifies our privilege and our ability to shield ourselves from the struggles that others are facing. May our call to civil discourse be more about listening to the genuine struggles of our human sisters, brothers, siblings, neighbors, and strangers than about protecting our own spaces of security. Most people do not engage in public protest or in expressing anger that may put risk on their life, work, or status. So when groups of people are pushed to their boiling point, the least helpful thing to do is to silence them,” his book contends, according to Turning Point USA.
Reyes-Chow is a leftist Presbyterian elder from California who enthusiastically supports Black Lives Matter and rails against white privilege.
“While I understand the desire to be more compassionate and to have more thoughtful engagement around disagreements, we must be careful that such a desire does not turn into a modern-day manifestation of ‘civilizing’ those who do not fit into our understanding of normative behavior. Sometimes our norms oppress and marginalize others,” he remarked via the newsletter.
“In this fast from whiteness, of course, I cannot change the color of my skin or the way that allows me to move through the world but I can change what I listen to, whose voice I prioritize,” Rev. Lydia Mulkey, the congregation’s associate pastor of education, states in a video explaining the fast. “And so that is kind of the place for our worship services, through Lent, that we would fast for a time from prioritizing white voices.”'

10 Decadent Details of the Black Lives Matter Mansion That Will Make You Want To Quit Your Job and Start Making TikToks About White Fragility
The controversial activist group is facing criticism for its lavish spending
Andrew Stiles • April 5, 2022 4:17 pmA Black Lives Matter charitable organization is in hot water following reports that it used donor funds to secretly purchase a $6 million mansion in Los Angeles. The group has claimed the massive house, known as "Campus," is "part of the cultural arm of the [organization]—potentially as an ‘influencer house,' where abolition+ based content is produced by artists & creatives." Meanwhile, local activist groups have complained that the charity, the BLM Global Network Foundation, has ignored their pleas for support. Others have accused the group of exploiting racially charged tragedies to raise money.
The Washington Free Beacon has reviewed photographs and realtor descriptions of the luxurious property in the posh Studio City neighborhood. Here are 10 of the most decadent details of the Black Lives Matter mansion that will make you want to quit your job and start making dope-ass TikToks about white fragility and defunding the police.
1) Lots of parking!
Can fit up to 24 Ferraris.
2) Lots of security! (In case they succeed in abolishing the police)
Walls work. So do pointy spears and home security systems.
3) Lots of history!
Humphrey Bogart and Marilyn Monroe were among the Hollywood celebs who stayed as guests at the luxurious estate, built in 1936.
4) This grand piano!
5) This amazing swing set with twirly tube slide!
6) All this closet space! (And butler's pantry!)
7) This epic content cave! (An influencer's dream!)
8) This automatic paper towel dispenser! (Fancy!)
9) All these fireplaces! (For incinerating problematic financial statements)
And heat lamps for the frigid Los Angeles winters. One of the fireplaces was imported all the way from Italy, while another features a "handmade arto cement tile hearth." Nice!
10) This adorable indoctrination desk! (Awww!)
Bonus: This American flag!
(Note: The photo was taken prior to BLM purchase.)

BLM reportedly scrambles to ‘kill’ story covering $6M California home purchased with donations

Black Lives Matter reportedly tried to squelch a story from New York Magazine exposing how the group “secretly bought” a $6 million home in Southern California using donations one year ago on the anniversary of George Floyd’s death.
The report was published by the “Intelligencer” via the magazine on Monday. It exposes a YouTube video that purportedly shows three leaders of the social justice movement, Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza, and Melina Abdullah, all standing in front of the home in June celebrating the purchase. The video has since been made private and can no longer be viewed.
BLM reportedly tried to “kill” the story concerning the purchase of the home and hide it from journalists.
BLM officials also circulated an internal memo floating a number of responses to the media outlet’s questions concerning the purchase that ranged from “Can we kill the story?” to, “Our angle – needs to be to deflate ownership of the property,” the magazine reported.
They referred to it internally as the “complex” and an internal memo allegedly proposed that it could be used as an “influencer house” where artists would get together and collaborate.
The home is 6,500-square-feet with more than six bedrooms and bathrooms, fireplaces, a pool, and parking for more than 20 cars according to a real estate listing. It was bought in October of 2020 using funds that had been donated to the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, according to the “Intelligencer.”
A man named Dyane Pascall bought the home two weeks after the foundation received $66.5 million from its sponsor. He is the financial manager for Janaya and Patrisse Consulting. Then the ownership of the home was transferred to an LLC in Delaware shielding the owner’s identity.
Cullors purchased four expensive homes for $3.2 million. She was one of the founders of Black Lives Matter but since the revelations of her shady finances have surfaced, she has left the group, citing a desire to finish her second book and focus on a multi-year TV deal with Warner Bros. Garza and Abdullah have also left the organization.
“It’s because we’re powerful, because we are winning,” Cullors said at the time referring to the media uncovering the lavish spending, according to the New York Post. “It’s because we are threatening the establishment, we’re threatening white supremacy.”
The Southern California mansion was meant to serve as “housing and studio space” for recipients of the Black Joy Creators Fellowship, board member Shalomyah Bowers said in a statement Friday that was given to New York Magazine. She claimed that the foundation had “always planned” to disclose the home’s legal filings this May. She also contended that it does not serve as anyone’s personal residence.
“That’s a very legitimate critique,” said “Candid” cofounder Jacob Harold in an interview with the media outlet addressing criticism of the purchase. “It’s not a critique that says what you’re doing is illegal or even unethical; it might just be strategic.”
“Candid” tracks nonprofits in the U.S. Harold questioned whether the funds spent on the home could’ve been used more wisely.
“Why aren’t you spending it on policy or, you know, other strategies that an organization might take to address the core issues around Black Lives Matter?” he asked.
Bowers claims that the property was bought in “furtherance of BLM’s mission,” according to the New York Post.
“It’s a waste of resources,” Ferguson activist Tory Russell told New York Magazine.
That sentiment seems to be shared by many in the movement.
The foundation is still under investigation for misuse of funds.
Black Lives Meltdown
Black Lives Matter Global Network, once the crown jewel of the Democrat Left, has become a major embarrassment that should cost the Democrats a lot of House and Senate seats this November—but only if the Republican Party does not squander the opportunity the way it squandered it in 2020. That was when it came out that BLM was campaigning openly against Donald Trump while accepting 501(c)(3) tax exempt money via ActBlue Charities, and with Thousand Currents and then the Tides Foundation as its fiscal sponsor. 501(c)(3) resources cannot be used to influence an election.
The RNC could have used this issue to evoke public revulsion against this abuse of voters' and donors' trust and support, and specifically the perception of voters and donors that they were supporting civil rights as opposed to a political campaign funded with charitable contributions. The RNC's failure to do this is why Joe Biden is now able to advance his dysfunctional domestic agenda which includes:
(1) carbon taxes and derailment of fossil fuel while gasoline, electricity, and home heating costs are skyrocketing,
(2) hidden taxes on middle class investors through a higher corporate income tax, and
(3) attacks on the Second Amendment.
If you have mutual funds or an IRA, a higher corporate income tax is a tax on you even if you make less than $400,000 a year. We have met "the corporations" and they are us.
The RNC has meanwhile failed so far to highlight Kamala Harris’s misuse of churches in Virginia to campaign for Terry McAuliffe, just as it did not call out BLM for using 501(c)(3) resources to campaign against Trump. This is why, in the absence of changes, I am not going to donate any money to the RNC because I don't believe in reinforcing failure. I will on the other hand provide this information via American Thinker and social media to help Rs win the House and Senate in 2022.
BLM is No Longer an Asset; it's an Albatross Around the Donkey's Neck
- Part V, Line 46 of BLM's Form 990 for 2019-2020 asks whether the organization attempted to influence any election, and BLM checked off "No." This looks inconsistent with the organization's own Web site which, among other things, equated Trump to a Nazi with a neck tattoo and talked explicitly on another page about voting his administration out of office. While this Form 990 shows no income or expenditures, tens of millions of dollars did go to fiscal sponsor Thousand Currents (see page 99 of Form 990, Schedule O, for reference to BLM), which then apparently transferred the assets to the Tides Foundation.
- Patrisse Cullors also campaigned against Trump (go to the last 10 seconds, “We get Trump out of office by leading with bold and courageous action.”). The group even took credit for influencing the 2020 election. "Alongside Black-led organizations around the nation, Black Lives Matter invested heavily in this election."
- "BLM’s #WhatMatters2020 is a campaign aimed to maximize the impact of the BLM movement by galvanizing BLM supporters and allies to the polls in the 2020 U.S Presidential Election to build collective power and ensure candidates are held accountable for the issues that systematically and disproportionately impact Black and under-served communities across the nation." While 501(c)(3) organizations are allowed to promote voter turnout, they must do so without any bias toward either candidate.
- California issued BLM a delinquency notice regarding its tax filings and, while BLM still has a grace period in which to correct this, we have to wonder why this happened in the first place. We can speculate that trouble began when BLM's election-related activity came to light in 2020, but this is pure inference from the circumstances at hand.
- An anti-Semitic hate group is defined not as one that merely disagrees with the policies of Israel, but rather one that denies the right of Israel to exist. Patrisse Cullors, in her capacity as a BLM founder rather than speaking as an individual, said to “step up boldly and courageously to end the imperialist project that’s called Israel.” BLM has meanwhile welcomed chants such as "Israel, we know you, you murder children too" at its rallies.
- BLM has condoned and even encouraged the criminal violence that results in the justifiable homicides about which it complains. This includes not just justifiable shootings of Black people but also of three Caucasians in Kenosha Wisconsin.
- BLM called it "murder" when a police officer shot Hakim Littleton for pointing a gun at the head of the officer’s partner and firing at least one round. Littleton was, luckily for the cop, a bad shot or it would have been "end of watch" for that officer or, according to some BLM graffiti artists, a "pig" who "oinked his last." The incident is on bodycam video. If you want Black lives to matter, don't tell them it is OK to point guns at other people except in self-defense.
- BLM also implies it was OK for three Caucasian men to pursue and attack Kyle Rittenhouse who was, as determined by a court of law, within his rights to shoot his attackers with an AR-15. This is yet again the same mentality that gets people shot, and justifiably so, by police and armed citizens.
- BLM also implies it was OK for Ricardo Munoz, who was armed with a knife (or "unarmed with a knife" according to Joe Biden), to rush a police officer. It is obvious from the bodycam video that the cop tried to deescalate by retreating and fired only after he could no longer retreat in complete safety.
- BLM also thinks it was murder when a cop shot Ma’Khia Bryant, who had raised a knife above another Black person. The latter's Black life apparently did not matter very much to BLM, although it did to the cop who saved her. Here are the actual facts of the case including bodycam video.
- A (Caucasian) BLM activist meanwhile posted instructions on how to use an emergency vehicle escape tool to force entry into a car, cut the driver's seat belt, and "remove" the driver from his or her vehicle. YouTube apparently took this down for violating its terms of service, but I remember it very clearly. This is an outstanding way to get shot legally, run over legally, and/or sent to prison for a long time. Florida apparently treats a violent vehicle invasion as a violent home invasion which is punishable by life in prison.
BLM is therefore reminiscent of the very rare firefighter who commits arson so he can help put out the fires or, in this case, merely complain about them. We have no fewer than five blatant incidents shown above, plus general incitement to riot and commit arson, in which BLM promotes the very situations in which Black people and, in the case of the Rittenhouse assailants, Caucasians, are shot justifiably. This makes BLM part of the problem rather than the solution, and this needs to be made clear in the 2022 election season. If the RNC will not do this, or follow up on the Kamala Harris scandal, we need to do it ourselves.
