That smell: A miasma of corruption clings to Rep. Eric Swalwell
When it comes to the most insufferable Democrat in Congress, Rep. Eric Swalwell, there's always the stench of something.
This time, it's raw campaign finance corruption, given Swalwell's amazing life of luxury lived out to the max on campaign funding. It sounds like the same kind of grift that put his California Republican congressional colleague, Duncan Hunter, jr., in a prison cell.
According to Fox News:
Eric Swalwell's campaign shows no signs of slowing its luxury spending, racking up more international costs at the likes of a five-star Paris hotel, federal filings show.
The California Democrat's campaign has consistently dropped cash into high-end items, such as limousine services, flights and posh accommodations. His latest filings show the trend has spilled over into this year's second quarter.
Swalwell's campaign, comprised of just two paid staffers, reported spending nearly $38,000 on travel expenses between May 19 and June 30, including $3,538.94 in late May for catering for a fundraising event at France's "iconic" Ritz Paris, a posh hotel that features several upscale bars and reservation rooms.
"Whenever you require nourishment for both body and soul, the Ritz Paris is ready," the highly-rated hotel's website states.
He's a sitting congressman representing the Bay Area in California. Why the heck does he need to go to Paris to carry on with his campaigning? Funny how much luxury he manages to squeeze in on ostensibly campaign expenses.
He even got told by a judge yesterday to knock it off with using campaign finance funds to pay for babysitters for his kids during his romantic Parisian getaways.
His taste for luxury doesn't only run to Paris. He's also into livin' it up in Miami:
Which is weird stuff when you think about it. Doesn't the Bay Area have comparable places for a California congressman to go to for his campaign finance needs that might just be in sync with his actual campaign needs? It's not like California lacks for such places. But he spends his campaign cash among the sybarites in Miami.
And among the wealthy sheikhs of Qatar, touristing away --- this doesn't exactly sound like business:
Democratic California Rep. Eric Swalwell appeared on a camel shirtless in pictures that were reportedly posted to Instagram, according to Business Insider. The photos were taken on a trip to Qatar funded in large part by the U.S.-Qatar Business Council during the pandemic, it was reported Friday.
The story was originally published by Business Insider after the photos surfaced on Instagram. The trip was funded by the U.S.-Qatar Business Council to the tune of $84,621.59 according to the New York Post. The trip included Swalwell and his wife along with Reps. Ruben Gallego, Luis Correa, Sara Jacobs, and Lisa McClain.
Now, some may be tempted to think that the only people being stiffed by this apparent misuse of campaign cash are his own donors. But that's sorely mistaken. Special interests, including ones with foreign sponsors, can easily launder illegal donations in through campaign finance mechanisms precisely to shower a guy like Swalwell with fancy vacays and other luxury details -- in exchange for .... something. In Swalwell's case, word has gotten out about what a fertile field he is for a honeytrap spy operation, which China figured out first.
The thing is, Swalwell doesn't need money -- and yet he has it. Someone is still giving it to him, despite his being in a safe Democrat district. Open Secrets notes that he raised $2,9 million, a phenomenal amount for a congressional seat, spent $2.4 milion, and has no debt. With Swalwell in a safe district among the leftists, he rarely has anything to worry about as far as not being re-elected to office, yet somehow, he manages to draw these huge campaign donations ... for these trips to Paris, because he doesn't need to worry about spending cash on ads which he would if he were in a competitive district.
Perhaps he's managed, as one of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's closest allies, to get a sweetheart assurance that he can break as many campaign finance law as he likes, since she has his back. Too bad about you, Duncan. Perhaps he's found enough loopholes in the law to enjoy his diamond life legally. The one thing that can be said for sure about this is that it's very bad optics -- living high life in Paris while everyone else back home is told to mask up and lock down. Worse still, Swalwell, with his champagne tastes, is constantly claiming to stand for the little guy.
During his ill-fated presidential campaign, he bloviated shamelessly about his purported concern for "the little guy":
“I see a country in quicksand, unable to solve problems and threats from abroad, unable to make life better for people here at home. Nothing gets, done,” he said, citing student debt and gun safety among the problems that he thinks aren’t being solved. “None of that is going to change, until we get a leader who is willing to go big on the issues we take on, be bold in the solutions we offer and do good in the way we govern. I’m ready to solve these problems.”
There's a reason he dropped out of the Democratic primaries earlier than even Kamala Harris, failing to obtain a single delegate.
Since then, his phony populist act has only gotten worse.
According to Fox News:
Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., was the latest Democrat embarrassed on Twitter for his attempt to spin high gas prices.
On Tuesday, Swalwell started a #GasPricesAreSoLow hashtag to celebrate gas prices falling from their peak of $5-a-gallon national average in June.
"Gas prices are so low Ted Cruz cancelled his flight and drove to Cancun. Post your best #GasPricesAreSoLow," Swalwell tweeted.
He's been caught maskless on at least one of his many vacations, at a time when he was urging Americans to mask up and lock down. For him, it's always rules for thee but not for me.
Now he's thumbing his nose entirely at the populist act with his amazing lifestyle funded by campaign cash. It's hypocrisy in the extreme, which is about his pace as the most pompous and insufferable member of Congress. Any surprise that he doesn't practice what he preaches?

Joe’s and the Dems’ (almost) perfect out on Hunter
When life gives you Hunter, make Hunter aid you.
Some may say that Hunter was not born that way, but rather created by the same poor family environment that created a hyper-sexualized, sex- and drug- addicted daughter. Created or born -- whatever. (I am willing to bet that a deep dive into Biden’s dead son, Beau, would reveal interesting behaviors, too.)
How Hunter got to be the Hunter we all know and (insert your preferred terms) is not what counts. He is what he is. It’s what he can do to aid his dad and the Dems that matters.
Let’s review the facts of the situation:
- Joe Biden is captaining a failed presidency
- His failure is bringing down the rest of the Dems
- 2022 looks like a really bad election year for the Dems, despite their attempts to cheat
- Joe Biden is threatening to run again in 2024
- 2024 may look the same for the Dems as 2022
- The Dems are trying to get Joe to not run in 2024
- The Dems are trying to salvage as much of 2022 as they can
- Hunter Biden is under investigation by the Feds
- The Feds investigate federal offenses
- Hunter is under DOJ investigation for federal crimes.
- Rumor has it that a plea deal might be reached. This will lessen the charges against him and result in calls, from some, of an unfair legal system that favors the rich and famous, favors Dems, favors politicians and their families, etc.
What the Dems want is to stop Joe’s voter repulsion and get a chance to win something in 2022 and 2024. What Joe wants is for Hunter to have it as easy as possible, since Joe is a loving, though abusive, father, and not have his family’s corruption made more public.
I assume that Joe, in his once weekly lucid moment, knows he is not running in 2024.
I offer a solution to Joe and his party that will be all winners and give them hope. Here goes.
Step One is for the Dems to decide when the campaign for the 2024 presidential nomination will begin. They can decide that the jockeying for position can begin immediately. In this case, my scheme may help them in 2022. If the Dems decide to wait until after November, then 2024 is their target.
They also have to decide if Kamala in the Oval Office is what they really want. This may affect the timing.
Whenever they decide the scrum is to begin and what to do with Kamala, the following has to be in place and ready for completion.
Step Two is for Hunter Biden to be found guilty of somethings the whole world knows he illegally did. Whether it has to do with firearms, prostitutes, being a foreign agent, etc., it has to be done.
I recommend that rather than plead down any charges, the Feds nail him on everything they can. Put him away for life. Poopcan him forever. If they do the max, then no one can say that the process was rigged. No two-tiered justice system. It is all aboveboard. Bury him so deep that no one, absolutely no one can save him.
Hunter will have to do time.
Remember that part where no one can save him? Well, actually, that is not quite possible. Joe can save him after Hunter does a teeny, tiny amount of time.
Step Three is Joe pardons Hunter. A president can pardon someone who committed a federal crime and is being punished. Incarceration is punishment. Joe tells the nation that as a kind, loving (though sick In the head) father he has chosen to help his son at the expense of his 2024 presidential run. What else could a father do?
This scenario allows:
- Joe to leave office without the disgrace of losing the election, crapping his pants on the campaign trail, and holding his head up high for choosing family over career
- The Dems to jettison him and apply their resources to the election(s) and not defending and covering for Joe
- The Dems to sanctimoniously disagree with his pardon but being understanding of it, i.e., distance themselves without dissing Joe
- The critical points are to have this political theater elevate Joe, harshly punish Hunter, have Joe pardon him and free the Dems of the Biden millstone.
It is winners all around unless you wanted true justice done re: Hunter. In which case you are a racist.

Experts: Hunter Biden’s Failure to Register as Foreign Agent Could Mean Prison
Hunter Biden reportedly did not register as a foreign agent while making business deals overseas, according to the New York Post.
Experts said recently it was a possible crime that could result in him being sent to prison.
The report noted Biden was registered as a lobbyist for domestic interests but not under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).
In addition, Biden could reportedly face charges regarding tax violations and lying about illegally buying a firearm.
Breitbart News reported Wednesday:
The probe, which has been ongoing for years and debated for months among Justice Department officials, also centers on the Biden family’s foreign business schemes while Joe Biden was vice president. During those years, Hunter routinely met with Joe Biden about 30 times at either the White House or the vice president’s residences at the Naval Observatory, Hunter’s laptop from hell revealed.
Meanwhile, George Washington University Law Professor Jonathan Turley addressed the FARA issue, saying, “recent disclosures of additional foreign contacts has only strengthened what was already a strong case.”
“Indeed, in the last few weeks, the compelling basis for a FARA charge has becomes unassailable and undeniable,” Turley said.
Hunter reportedly met with the Crown Prince of Yugoslavia and his wife in 2015, and the couple apparently asked him to approach his father with a request for money to help fix up their palace located in Belgrade.
“If Hunter relayed the request for US government assistance then that would be a FARA registrable event,” Craig Engle, a FARA expert who leads the political law practice at Arent Fox Schiff, stated.
In April, Breitbart News senior contributor and Government Accountability Institute (GAI) President Peter Schweizer said President Joe Biden was at the center of Hunter’s legal woes.
The author of Red-Handed: How American Elites Get Rich Helping China Win, explained, “This started out as a Hunter Biden story and is now with Joe Biden story. He is at the center. He is the planet which the moons in the family Hunter Biden and James Biden revolve.”
Earlier this month, Breitbart News reported President Biden played a part in his family’s business dealings approximately 13 times during a period of nine years and detailed those incidents.
For Second Straight Month, Biden Least Popular President in History
President Joe Biden in June achieved the highest disapproval rating in the history of modern polling. This month, his popularity declined even further.
About 60 percent of Americans disapprove of the president, according to FiveThirtyEight’s polling average. Just 38 percent of Americans approve. Biden's disapproval has risen and his approval has fallen by a few points in the last month, when he first became the most unpopular commander in chief in recorded history.
Voters are blaming Biden for runaway inflation and the poor state of the nation’s economy. Biden’s historically low approval could spell trouble for Democrats ahead of the upcoming midterm elections. Some polls suggest that even Democrats and racial minorities are beginning to turn on the embattled president.
Modern presidential approval polling began with Gallup’s surveys during the Harry S. Truman administration. Biden is the least popular president in almost 80 years of public opinion data collection.
Looking at net approval, or a president’s approval rating subtracted from their disapproval rating, doesn’t paint a much more favorable picture for Biden. The president’s net approval is sitting at -19 percent, tied with Truman for the worst among all presidents.
Barely 1/5 Voters Think Biden’s 2024 Reelection Campaign Would Benefit Democrats
Barely one in five voters believe President Joe Biden’s 2024 reelection campaign would benefit Democrats, according to a Tuesday Rasmussen Reports poll.
The poll asked respondents, “If President Joe Biden runs for re-election in 2024, would that be good or bad for the Democratic Party? Or would it not make much difference?”
Only 21 percent of voters said the Democrat Party would benefit, while 45 percent said Biden’s 2024 campaign would hurt Democrats. Thirty-one percent said it would not make a difference.
The poll sampled 1,000 voters from July 20-21 with a 3 point margin of error.
The poll comes as Biden is losing support in battleground states. According to a University of New Hampshire poll, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is out-polling Biden by one point in a potential 2024 Democrat New Hampshire primary:
The establishment media has been hammering Biden for months, urging him not to run for reelection. Last week, the media published at least three articles slamming Biden:
- The Guardian: “As a 76-year-old let me say: Joe Biden is too old to run again”
- CNN: “Biden’s age isn’t his problem”
- Washington Post: “Quit, Joe, Quit! Biden could save the midterms with a one-term pledge.”

First lady Jill Biden was recently heckled by protesters while on a summer program learning tour in New Haven, Connecticut.
“Your husband is the worst president we have ever had,” a protester yelled at the first lady as she was walking into an ice cream store with Education Secretary Miguel Cardona and Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont (D).
WATCH:
Jill Biden smiled and waved back at the protester, saying, “Thank you.” The protester then continued to repeat, “You owe us Gas Money,” before Biden went inside.
The president’s overall approval rating is currently at 30 percent, and only 34 percent approve of his job performance in Connecticut, according to a recent Civiqs survey.
The first lady was on a multi-state summer learning program tour with Cardona in Connecticut on Wednesday that later went through Michigan and Georgia.
The tour’s purpose was to highlight how the American Rescue Plan is funding summer education programs for children who fell behind in school during the pandemic.
Her husband, President Joe Biden, tested positive for the coronavirus the following day, but she continued on with the tour in Detroit and Athens, Georgia, on Thursday despite being in close contact with the president. She later tested negative.
Following the tour, the first lady then traveled to Wilmington, Delaware, while her husband stayed at the White House.
While the first lady was not seen wearing a mask at her event in Connecticut, she was later seen wearing a mask for the rest of the tour in Michigan and Georgia.
The first lady recently landed herself in some hot water after she compared Hispanic Americans to breakfast tacos. She later apologized for her remarks.
Jill Biden has joined her husband in suffering from abysmal approval ratings. She is currently sitting at a 34 percent approval rating, dropping 24 points since January 2021, according to a recent CNN/SSRS poll.

Report: Justice Department Weighs Charging Hunter Biden for Tax, Gun Violations
Hunter Biden could reportedly be charged by the Justice Department for tax violations and lying to law enforcement about illegally purchasing a firearm, as the probe into President Joe Biden’s son comes to a head.
Trump-appointed U.S. prosecutor David Weiss is deliberating whether to charge Hunter for “making a false statement in connection with Biden’s purchase of a firearm at a time he would have been prohibited from doing so because of his acknowledged struggles with drug addiction,” CNN reported Wednesday.
As Breitbart News reported, Hunter may have lied on paperwork he submitted when purchasing a handgun in 2018 by not disclosing his drug additions. Hunter’s sister-in-law, with whom he had an affair, reportedly took his gun and disposed of it. Hunter’s text messages reveal the Secret Service, the FBI, and state law enforcement likely became involved, but without consequences for the president’s son.
The probe, which has been ongoing for years and debated for months among Justice Department officials, also centers on the Biden family’s foreign business schemes while Joe Biden was vice president. During those years, Hunter routinely met with Joe Biden about 30 times at either the White House or the vice president’s residences at the Naval Observatory, Hunter’s laptop from hell revealed.
In particular, Weiss is studying whether Hunter and associates “violated money laundering, campaign finance, tax and foreign lobbying laws, as well as whether Hunter Biden broke federal firearm and other regulations,” multiple CNN sources said.
The deliberations have not only included the Justice Department but have reportedly engulfed the FBI and IRS Criminal Investigation agency.
Hunter has been hoping to settle the investigation without criminal or civil charges, the New York Times reported.
Joe Biden’s Attorney General, Merrick Garland, has promised not to interfere with the probe. “He is supervising the investigation and I’m not at liberty to talk about internal Justice Department deliberations, but he is in charge of that investigation,” Garland said of Weiss.
Garland has refused to say whether a special counsel should be placed over the investigation to maintain a just investigation. A special counsel would provide a degree of separation between Biden’s administration and the probe. Legal experts have stated a special counsel is necessary because Joe Biden has denied any wrongdoing by Hunter and may have influenced the ongoing investigation.
Weiss will have to weigh if there is enough evidence to seek a federal grand jury indictment against Hunter in an investigation that may end up including other members of the Biden family, such as Joe Biden’s brother, James Biden, and potentially the president himself. CNN reported, however, that the president is not under the microscope of the probe. Yet evidence shows Joe Biden has been involved in his the family business schemes13 times.
The probe into Hunter could include his business dealings with Ukrainian Energy company Burisma Holdings and a Chinese energy conglomerate, as well as implicating his father the Vice President and other family members.
According to a Rasmussen Reports poll on Thursday, most Americans believe the Bidens’ corrupt business practices are worrisome. Sixty-nine percent of voters say Joe Biden is aware of “at least some” of Hunter Biden’s corrupt foreign business deals. Sixty-two percent say it is likely Joe Biden “personally profited from deals with Chinese- government connected companies.”
In 2018 and 2020, Breitbart senior contributor and Government Accountability Institute President Peter Schweizer published Secret Empires and Profiles in Corruption. Each book hit #1 on the New York Times bestseller list and exposed how Hunter Biden and Joe Biden flew aboard Air Force Two in 2013 to China before Hunter’s firm inked a $1.5 billion deal with a subsidiary of the Chinese government’s Bank of China just 10 days after the trip.
Schweizer’s work also uncovered the Biden family’s other vast and lucrative foreign deals and cronyism. Breitbart political editor Emma-Jo Morris’s investigative work on the Hunter Biden “laptop from hell” also captured international headlines when she, along with Miranda Devine, revealed Joe Biden was intimately involved in Hunter’s businesses, appearing to even have a 10% stake in a company the scion formed with officials at the highest levels of the CCP.
