U.S. Rents Hit Record High, Coinciding with Skyrocketing Mass Immigration

Rents across the United States have hit a record high, with the median rent for a one-bedroom apartment now reaching nearly $1,500 a month, according to the Zumper National Rent Index.

The sky-high rents are up almost 12 percent compared to the same time last year, the analysis finds. The jump in rents now beats out last year’s record rents.

Cities inundated with mass immigration — New York City, New York; San Francisco, California; Miami, Florida; Los Angeles, California; and Washington, D.C. — have the highest rents as thousands of new arrivals every month push up the cost of housing immensely, a boon for real estate investors and a kick in the gut for renters and first-time homeowners.

The median rent for a one-bedroom apartment in New York City, for instance, has jumped almost 40 percent since the same time last year, and rent for two-bedroom apartments has increased more than 46 percent.

In Manhattan, the median rent has hit $4,212. Meanwhile, on the west coast, rents have similarly skyrocketed. The median rent in San Francisco has hit more than $3,000 a month, while median rents in San Jose, San Diego, Los Angeles, Oakland, and Santa Ana range from $2,160 to $2,780

n Miami, where nearly 6 in 10 residents are foreign nationals, pulling more immigrants to the area every year, median rents have jumped to about $2,500 a month. In Washington, DC, where the state of Texas is busing thousands of border crossers, median rents are now at $2,370.

At the same time, rents in cities across Ohio, Kansas, Texas, Louisiana, Kentucky, Oklahoma, upstate New York, and Iowa have dropped.

Real estate investors are some of the biggest beneficiaries of mass immigration to the United States. Immigration-driven population growth, set to bring the United States population to more than 400 million by 2060, is likely to send housing prices even higher.

A 2017 study published in the Journal of Housing Economics found that “increases in immigration into a metropolitan statistical area are linked with rising rents and home prices in that metropolitan statistical area and neighboring metropolitan statistical areas.”

As legal immigration brings over a million legal immigrants to the United States annually, as well as more than a million more on temporary work visas, the Biden administration has implemented an expansive Catch and Release network where thousands of border crossers and illegal aliens are sent all over the nation every month to await court hearings.

In the meantime, those new arrivals need housing.

While it is unclear exactly where border crossers and illegal aliens are resettling, the administration’s Alternative to Detention (ATD) program gives insight into the level of mass immigration to each city coinciding with record-high housing costs.

In Boston, Massachusetts, for instance, where the median rent has hit $2,730, the number of border crossers and illegal aliens released to the area on ATD has boomed. In December 2020, just 1,500 ATD migrants were being monitored in Boston. Today, more than 8,300 ATD migrants are in the city.

The same has occurred in New York City. In 2020, fewer than 3,700 ATD migrants were being monitored. Today, more than 10,500 ATD migrants are being monitored there. More than 16,500 ATD migrants are in San Francisco today; in 2020, about 10,600 were being monitored.

Border Patrol Chief Blames Biden’s ‘No Consequences’ Policy for Migrant Crisis

Raul Ortiz, deputy chief of U.S. Border Patrol, speaks during a new conference in Brownsville, Texas, U.S., on Thursday, Aug. 12, 2021. U.S. Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz testified that President Joe Biden’s “no consequences” policies are to blame for the record-setting surge of migrants crossing the southern border during a deposition in a Florida lawsuit.

Chief Ortiz testified under oath in a deposition for a Florida lawsuit in July and blamed President Biden’s policies provide no consequences for illegally crossing the border, according to an exclusive report from Fox News. The State of Florida filed the lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security.

“In my experience, we have seen increases when there are no consequences,” Chief Ortiz testified.

“So, if migrant populations believe that they’re going … there are not going to be consequences, more of them will come to the border. Is that what you’re saying?” the state’s attorney asked.

Ortiz replied — “There is an assumption that if migrant populations are told that there is a potential that they may be released, that, yes, you can see increases.”

The lawsuit filed by Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody asserts that the federal agencies under the direction of President Biden are violating the law as established in the Immigration and Nationality Act. That law requires law enforcement officials to detain migrants at the border until they are returned to their country of citizenship.

The testimony from Chief Ortiz stands in stark contrast to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’s comments during the Aspen Security Forum where he described the situation at the border as a “historic challenge” and asserted the border is “secure,” Fox reports.

The exclusive report from Fox News adds:

“After the Biden administration denied that they were engaged in catch-and-release, and that they were responsible for the historic surge at our southern border, Florida got the chief of Border Patrol to admit, under oath, the truth,” Moody told Fox News Digital.

“The Biden administration caused the surge, made the border less safe and is flagrantly violating the very federal laws they swore to uphold. The Biden administration is putting hard-working border patrol agents in impossible and untenable positions — risking their lives and safety, and I want to thank Chief Ortiz for testifying truthfully at his deposition,” Moody said.

The Florida lawsuit is set for trial in January 2023 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida.

WATCH: White House Falsely Claims Migrants Are Not ‘Walking Across the Border’

President Joe Biden’s White House claimed that migrants are not “walking across the border,” despite video evidence showing hundreds of migrants crossing the southern border daily.

Fox News reporter Peter Doocy on Monday asked White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre a question about tennis star Novak Djokovic, who could not compete in the U.S. Open due to being unvaccinated, but noted that thousands of potential unvaccinated migrants arrive in the United States on a daily basis.

“It is not that simple. It’s not just that people are walking across the border. We have a plan in place. This is not like switching the lights on. This is going to take a process,” Jean-Pierre said.

Jean-Pierre also claimed that former President Donald Trump left the Biden administration “a broken system.”

“We are fixing a broken system that was actually left by the last administration. And as it relates to the tennis star, that is totally different. That is a different process,” she said.

“Thousands of people are walking in in a day. Some of them turn themselves over. Some of them — tens of thousands a week are not,” Doocy responded.

More migrants have been apprehended at the southern border during the current fiscal year than last year, with the White House estimating the number of illegal migrants entering the United States this year to surpass 2 million for the first time.

For example, Breitbart News’ Randy Clark detailed how nearly 10,000 migrants illegally crossed the southern border into Eagle Pass, Texas, over just a six-day period last month.

As Breitbart News reported:

Once a city with fewer migrant apprehensions than most other southwest border cities, Eagle Pass is now ground zero for the Biden administration’s continuing border crisis. The source says migrant apprehensions in the city numbered nearly 10,000 over a six-day period ending on July 9 making it the leading crossing point in the nation for migrants.

Further, videos of migrants crossing the border have made their way across social media all year long.

“Texas law enforcement in Eagle Pass overwhelmed by migrants illegally crossing into the US and drowning in the Rio Grande River,” reporter Jorge Ventura tweeted last week. “Resources are spread so thin that some 911 calls like domestic violence are going unanswered.”

Fox News’ Bill Melugin posted similar videos that showed more than one hundred migrants casually walking into Texas from Mexico.

The president of FAIR Dan Stein discussed the report, stating that “Roughly the equivalent of the entire population of Ireland has illegally entered the United States in the 18 months President Biden has been in office, with many being released into American communities.”

He continued, saying “In that time, the Biden administration has blamed an unprecedented surge of illegal immigration on all sorts of external factors, except their own sabotage of our nation’s immigration laws.”

Congressional Budget Office: U.S. Population Growth Will Be ‘Entirely’ Driven by Immigration by 2043

(CNSNews.com) - The Congressional Budget Office is predicting in a demographics report it published in July that by 2043 population growth in the United States will be “entirely” driven by net immigration.

“By 2043, deaths exceed births,” says the CBO report, “population growth after that point is driven entirely by net immigration, in CBO’s projections.”

“Over the course of the next decade, immigration accounts for about three-quarters of the overall increase in the size of the population, and the net effects of fertility and mortality account for the remaining quarter,” says the report.

(Screen Capture)

“After 2032, population growth is increasingly driven by net immigration, which accounts for all population growth in 2043 and beyond,” it says.

“Population growth is determined by births, deaths, and net immigration,” says the CBO report. “In CBO’s projections, fertility rates remain low and immigration becomes an increasingly important part of overall population growth.”

According to the CBO’s projections, the number of babies born to American women will continue below the “replacement rate” into the future.

“In CBO’s projections, the total fertility rate falls to 1.60 births per woman in 2021, rises to 1.75 births per woman in 2030, and remains at that value thereafter,” it says. “That rate is below the replacement rate—the fertility rate required for a generation to exactly replace itself in the absence of immigration—of about 2.1 births per woman.”

The CBO projects that the numbers of both legal and illegal immigrants coming to the United States will increase in the coming years.

“CBO develops its projections of net immigration (the number of all people who enter the United States less the number who leave in that year) using three categories: lawful permanent residents (LPRs), who are authorized to work, liable to pay income taxes, and eligible for most federal programs; legal temporary residents (LTRs), whose eligibility for federal programs is limited; and foreign-born people without legal status, who are generally not eligible for federal programs,” explains the CBO report.

“Under current law, annual net immigration to the United States would rise from 950,000 people, on average, in the first decade of the projection period to 1.1 million people, on average, in the third decade, CBO projects,” says the report.

“LPRs, which are the largest category of projected total net flows, rise from 800,000 to 870,000 people per year, on average, from the first decade to the third decade in CBO’s projections,” it says.

“Net flows of foreign-born people without legal status rise from 80,000 people per year, on average, in the first decade to 150,000 people per year in the third decade,” says the report. “CBO projects net flows of LTRs to be 80,000 people per year, on average, throughout the 30-year projection period.”

Joe Biden: ‘Absolutely Bizarre’ to Suggest Limit on U.S. Capacity to Absorb Immigrants

JOEL B. POLLAK

LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Former Vice President Joe Biden campaigned inside a Chinese restaurant on Tuesday evening, telling supporters it was “bizarre” to suggest a limit on immigration to the U.S.

Biden promised to expand immigration to the U.S. if elected president.

“Folks, look — the idea that there’s some limitation on the capacity of anyone who — on the immigrants in this country is absolutely bizarre! It’s absolutely bizarre.”

Biden, speaking to a packed crowd inside the Harbor Palace Seafood Restaurant on the eve of the next Democratic debate, addressed members of the Asian-American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community, urging them to turn out the vote ahead of Saturday’s caucuses.

Last month, the AAPI Victory Fund super PAC endorsed Biden for president, citing his ability to defeat President Donald Trump and his experience working with immigrant communities from South Asia, East Asia and the Pacific generally.

Though the AAPI immigrant community is politically diverse, it has trended Democratic in recent years.

Last year, Breitbart News reported, another local AAPI organization in Las Vegas expressed opposition to President Trump’s proposed merit-based system for legal immigration.

On Tuesday, Biden promised, if elected, to allow family reunification visas.

“We should be able to increase, to three million people, the people who could come for family reunification. Period, period, period, period.”

He called the idea that the U.S. could not “reunite” more families “absolutely bizarre.”

Biden also reminded his audience that Latinos were not the only beneficiaries of President Barack Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which applied to those brought to the country illegally as children.

He said there were “thousands and thousands of AAPI ‘Dreamers'” who had benefited from DACA as well.

Afterwards, Biden greeted attendees, some of whom proceeded to the Chinatown Mall to cast early votes before the polling place there closed.

Biden hopes to finish in the top three in Nevada, and to win South Carolina on Feb. 29, to make the case that he is still a top contender for his party’s nomination. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) now leads national polls, as well as Nevada polls.

Nearly 5 Million Illegal Immigrants Crossed Border During Biden Administration

A whopping 4.9 million illegal immigrants have crossed our border since Biden has taken office, a report from the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) found.

The nearly 5 million illegal immigrants who have entered our country since Biden took office includes nearly 200,000 that crossed the border in July of 2022.

With 199,976 illegal immigrants entering in July, the figure marks a whopping 325 percent increase over the average number of July apprehensions across former President Trump’s four years in office. Of the 199,976 illegal immigrants, 134,362, or 67 percent, were single adults.

There were also 10 individuals on the terror watch list who were stopped on our southern border last month.

Perhaps even more startling, July is the 17th straight month in which border patrol has had 150,000 encounters or more. In addition, 2,071 pounds of fentanyl, the equivalent of 469 million lethal doses, and 12,989 pounds of methamphetamine were seized at the southern border in July alone.

Thomas Homan, the former Acting Director of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for the Trump Administration, joined Alex Marlow on Breitbart News Daily on Sirius XM to discuss the border crisis.

He said that the number of illegal immigrants entering our country under Biden “blows every other record out of the water” despite the fact that the Trump Administration “handed this administration the most secure border we’ve ever had.”

FAIR president Dan Stein also criticized the Biden Administration, saying “The endless flow of illegal aliens and the incursion of lethal narcotics pouring across our border will not end until this administration demonstrates a willingness to enforce our laws.”
