Biden uses Zelensky to whip up a pro-war frenzy
On Wednesday, a US military aircraft flew Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Washington to meet with US President Joe Biden and address a joint session of Congress, where he called for “absolute victory” against Russia.
The prime time speech, broadcast on all the major networks, was a massive exercise in war propaganda. Biden invited Zelensky to Washington as part of an effort to condition American public opinion to accept the White House’s escalation of the US-NATO war against Russia in Ukraine.
Zelensky gave a proxy speech, scripted by the White House, for a proxy war. The speech aimed to tug at the heartstrings of the American public, even evoking the Revolutionary War battle of Saratoga—about which the former Ukrainian comedian certainly had never heard before reading the address that had been written for him by a Biden administration speechwriter.
Such appeals were accompanied by racist incitement against the Russian population, the likes of which were never heard in Washington even during the Cold War. In remarks at a press conference with Biden earlier in the day, Zelensky, using Nazi-like language, referred to the Russian people as “inhumans.” Before Congress, he declared that they were “poisoned by the Kremlin” and proclaimed Russia a “terrorist state.”
This language was greeted with effusive cheers and multiple standing ovations by the vast majority of members of both parties.
The entire speech was cynically staged to evoke UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill’s December 1941 address to Congress, with Russian President Putin cast as Adolf Hitler and Zelensky playing the role of the British prime minister.
The US media played along with and promoted this degrading and reactionary spectacle. In the extensive commentary before and after the address, none of the media pundits mentioned the fact that “absolute victory” over Russia can only be achieved through a full-scale war by the United States against nuclear-armed Russia.
The purpose of this spectacle was to market the US-NATO war against Russia as a redux of World War II, a new “good war.”
Not a single question was asked about the dangers of relentless escalation, or even the financial and social impact within the United States of the massive sums being spent.
Nor did anyone ask why members of Congress shouted “Slava Ukraini,” or “Glory to Ukraine,” a slogan used by the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and the Ukraine Insurgent Army (UPA), which were aligned with Nazi Germany during World War II and participated in the Holocaust and anti-Jewish pogroms.
For all the invocation of Churchill, the British prime minister never got the level of unconditional support that is being handed to the Ukrainian government.
In his press conference with Zelensky earlier in the day, Biden pledged that the United States would support Ukraine for “as long as it takes.” Zelenksy’s trip was accompanied by an announcement that the Biden administration will be sending a Patriot missile system to Ukraine, the most advanced weapon deployed to the conflict to date.
Zelensky’s speech was also part of a campaign to justify a massive $45 billion infusion of weaponry to the country, currently waiting final passage by the US House and Senate.
Despite “partisan gridlock,” when it comes to handing out virtually unlimited sums for war, the entire Congress snaps to attention, with the Democratic Party in the lead.
The US is drawing ever deeper and more inexorably into war. By deploying Patriot missiles to Ukraine, Washington is giving Ukraine the ability to strike aircraft deep in Russian territory.
Just last year, Biden declared that in withdrawing US troops from Afghanistan he was ending the “forever war.” But the administration is now plunging the population of Europe, the United States and the entire world into a new “forever war,” with potentially catastrophic consequences.
In the midst of this day-long propaganda barrage in Washington, Biden admitted that some of his European allies are concerned that the actions being carried out by the US could lead to a full-scale nuclear exchange.
Asked by a reporter why the US did not simply provide all of the weapons requested by Zelensky, Biden replied, “The idea that we would give Ukraine material that is fundamentally different than is already going there would have a prospect of breaking up NATO.”
Biden said of the US’s NATO allies, “They’re not looking to go to war with Russia. They’re not looking for a third World War.” Biden’s choice of pronouns is significant. He used “they,” not “we.”
Given that the Kremlin has declared that US Patriot launchers are a “legitimate target,” what will happen if these weapons are attacked on the territory of a NATO country? Or what will happen if, during an attack on weapons shipments inside Ukraine, a group of US soldiers overseeing the weapons deployment is killed?
Responding to the latest US weapons shipments, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a planned 50 percent increase in the size of Russia’s military and the deployment of hypersonic nuclear missiles on Russian warships.
The rapid escalation of the war underscores the warnings made by the International Youth and Students for Social Equality in its online rally, “For a Mass Movement of Youth and Students to Stop the War in Ukraine!”
In his concluding remarks, WSWS International Editorial Board Chairman David North explained: “The outcome of this process, unless stopped by the working class, will be a global cataclysm on a scale that dwarfs the violence of the past. Since the outbreak of the war, the potential use of nuclear weapons has been normalized in political discourse.”
The escalating US-NATO war against Russia, North stated, “is, in fact, only one manifestation of the fatal incompatibility of capitalist private ownership of the means of production and the division of the world into hostile nation states with the progressive development, and even survival, of mankind.”
Just 10 days after this meeting was held, these warnings have been confirmed. The rapid escalation of the war makes clear the urgent necessity of building an anti-war movement of workers, students and young people on the basis of a socialist program.
CBP Had 233,740 SW Border Encounters in November; Up 33% From 2021; 224% From 2020
(CNSNews.com) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection waited until Christmas weekend to announce that it encountered 233,740 migrants illegally crossing the southwest border in November, as overwhelmed border agents say the problem has become unmanageable.
"Today, even before the end of Title 42, apprehensions are eight times higher than manageable," Brandon Judd, the president of the National Border Patrol Council, wrote in an opinion piece on Dec. 20.
The 233,740 encounters in November 2022 is the third highest monthly total on record, behind the record 241,136 monthly encounters in May and 235,785 in April. It is up one percent from October's elevated level of 231,294. But it's up 33.68 percent from 174,845 a year ago November; and up 224.13 percent from 72,113 in November 2020.
The chart below shows the rapid acceleration in illegal immigration since Joe Biden took office, after stating during a debate in September 2019: "I would, in fact, make sure that there is -- we immediately surge to the border all those people who are seeking asylum. They deserve to be heard. That's who we are. We're a nation that says, you want to flee, and you're fleeing oppression, you should come."
"Individuals from Mexico and northern Central America accounted for just 30% of unique encounters in November, a significant drop from the 53% they represented a year ago, as more migrants arrive from a variety of other countries, including Cuba and Nicaragua,” said CBP Acting Commissioner Troy Miller in a news release on the Friday before Christmas.
CBP noted that while the number of people fleeing "failing communist regimes in Nicaragua and Cuba" is rising, Venezuelans, who previously constituted a part of that increase, are arriving at far lower numbers as a result of the migration enforcement process that includes expulsions to Mexico and lawful pathways.
CBP said encounters of Venezuelans have dropped from roughly 1,100 a day the week before the Homeland Security Department announced a stricter enforcement policy to roughly 100 a day consistently throughout November. So stricter policies are working, as CBP actually said:
"The Venezuelan Migration Enforcement Process is working," the news release said, giving numbers:
-- September 2022 Southwest Land Border Venezuelan encounters = 33,804
-- October 2022 Southwest Land Border Venezuelan encounters = 22,045
-- November 2022 Southwest Land Border Venezuelan encounters = 7,931
Of the total unique encounters at the Southwest Land Border in November 2022, 68,044 were from Cuba or Nicaragua, which represents 35% of unique encounters.
Individuals from Mexico and northern Central America accounted for 58,559 unique encounters in November 2022, which represents 30% of unique encounters and a 14.2% drop from November 2021.
By comparison, Mexicans and Northern Central American migrants accounted for 53% of unique encounters in November 2021.
According to CBP:
-- Two-thirds (67 percent) of all southwest land border encounters were single adults, with 157,202 encounters in November, a 1.3% decrease compared to October.
-- 66,984 encounters, 29% of the total, were processed for expulsion under Title 42. 166,756 encounters were processed under Title 8.
-- 59,147 encounters involving single adults (38% of all single adult encounters) were processed for expulsion under Title 42, with 98,055 processed under Title 8 (62% of all single adult encounters).
-- 7,674 encounters involving family unit individuals (12% of all family unit individuals) were processed for expulsion under Title 42, with 55,489 processed under Title 8 (88% of all family unit individuals).
-- Encounters of unaccompanied children increased 9.4%, with 13,150 encounters in November compared with 12,024 in October. In November, the average number of unaccompanied children in CBP custody was 597 per day, compared with an average of 491 per day in October.
-- Encounters of family unit individuals increased by 5.6% from 59,805 in October to 63,163 in November, which is a 28% decrease from the peak of 87,461 in August 2021.
CBP said it continues to enforce U.S. immigration law and apply consequences to those without a legal basis to remain in the U.S.
But many migrants claim asylum, which allows them to remain here while they await a hearing in immigration court.
According to CBP:
"Current restrictions at the U.S. border have not changed; single adults and families encountered at the Southwest border will continue to be expelled, where appropriate, under the CDC’s Title 42 Order. Once the Title 42 public health order is no longer in place, CBP will process individuals encountered at the border without proper travel documents using its longstanding Title 8 authorities.
"Under Title 8, those who attempt to enter the United States without authorization, and who are unable to establish a legal basis to remain in the United States will be quickly removed. Individuals who have been removed under Title 8 are also subject to additional long-term consequences beyond removal from the United States, including bars to future immigration benefits.
"DHS has been executing a comprehensive and deliberate strategy to secure our borders and build a safe, orderly, and humane immigration system. The strategy is based on six pillars: surging resources; increasing efficiency to reduce strain on the border; employing an aggressive consequence regime; bolstering the capacity of NGOs and partner with state and local partners; going after cartels and smugglers; and working with our regional partners.
“This comprehensive plan leverages a whole-of-government approach to prepare for and manage the current and anticipated increases in encounters of noncitizens at our Southwest border."
Scalise: ‘No New Funding for Our Border Patrol Agents’ in Omnibus, But They Give Money to Foreign Countries to Secure Their Border

Steve Scalise (R-La.) said Friday that the $1.7 trillion omnibus bill does not include new funding for Border Patrol agents, “but they actually give money to foreign countries to secure their border in other parts of the world.”
“Look, this is something President Biden created. We’ve been talking about this for over a year. It's gotten worse and worse and not gotten better. The administration completely ignores it, misleading the public, saying the border is secure. Everybody knows it's not, and it's communities all across the border getting ravaged, but now it’s communities all across America,” he told “Fox & Friends.”
“You’ve covered the fentanyl deaths, which is another side of the open border story where you have got over 100,000 young people die last year, and President Biden doesn't care about that because he knows the solution is closing the border and he doesn't want to,” the congressman said.
“This is going to be a huge fight in the new Republican Congress, but this is something that could be and should be addressed in the government funding bill, and it's not, in fact this omnibus that's coming up today, actually makes it harder to secure our border. No new funding for our Border Patrol agents, but they actually give money to foreign countries to secure their border in other parts of the world. This is insanity,” Scalise said.
When asked to predict how the House vote for the omnibus bill will play out, the congressman said, “We have whipped against it. We are reducing that number, but, you know, if you look at the last CR, just a few weeks ago a similar kind of number, but again, this bill is not addressing the real problems of the country. It's making them worse.
“They are increasing spending in parts of the budget that need to be decreasing. We have seen massive trillions of dollars of increased spending in Washington that have driven inflation. The inflation is what is crushing hard-working families right now during Christmas. That's what we should be trying to turn around, not make worse with increased spending which this bill does,” he said.
When asked what he says to his Republican colleagues in the Senate, Scalise said, “There is a lot of talk about, well, you know, this is the best deal they could get. What I say is help is on the way, and in literally two weeks, there will be a Republican House and the debate is going to be a lot different.
“The starting point for bills will be so much different in terms of what we’ll be sending over. We’re actually going to pass a border security package. We’re gonna pass an energy security package. We’re going to be passing bills to confront the problems the country is facing instead of what you have seen from Speaker Pelosi and the far left, which is making matters worse,” he said.
“So, this isn't the time to be cutting long-term deals. Hold on for a few more weeks and help is on the way. Unfortunately, that's not been received and that's been a big frustration,” the congressman said.
Scalise said that there’s been “a lot of talk about additional scrutiny on money that's being spent everywhere, not just in Ukraine, but in every government agency.”
“I mean, there’s trillions of dollars that have gone out the door. A lot of this money that's gone out over COVID relief, for example, tens of billions of dollars, we already know that's fraudulent. Payments going to people that are here illegally,” he said.
“Payments going to people in other countries. We're going to be investigating that. Why don't we actually be stewards for the taxpayer money instead of every time that somebody sees a problem just dole trillions of dollars of money out that’s borrowed,” the congressman said.
When asked whether he’s been approached about being the next speaker if House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) can’t get enough votes, Scalise said, “No, look. I support Kevin, and I think there’s still a lot of conversations that are going on, and Kevin is working to get there. He is going to get there, and that’s just been an ongoing conversation this week.
“We have had a number of additional meetings with leadership and rank and file members going through rules changes. You know, what you hear the most is people are so frustrated with the way the House has been run, and we are going to be changing that,” he said.
“There are a lot of changes coming, and, you know, this is -- today is the big frustration, because it really takes some of that leverage away from us when we get into the new majority, but you know, we are going to continue moving forward. We’ve got work to do, and it's going to be a busy next year. I think you are going to be excited to see the policy we pass,” the congressman said.
“We’ve got to first elect a speaker and then get to work, and so Kevin’s meeting with all of those members that you mentioned. We’re meeting with a lot of them as a leadership team to go through rules changes, and then Kevin’s meeting with them individually as well, so there’s still time to go and that work continues on,” he said.

Mitch McConnell Declares $45 Billion in Aid to Ukraine ‘Morally Right’
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) declared $45 billion in aid to Ukraine “morally right” on Christmas Eve.
“Continuing our support for Ukraine is morally right, but it is not only that. It is also a direct investment in cold, hard, American interests,” McConnell wrote, posting a picture with himself and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Eighteen Senate Republicans, including McConnell, helped pass a $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill that contained $45 billion in aid to Ukraine. The passage of the omnibus spending bill means that America has granted over $110 billion in aid to help the country’s battle with Russia.

The omnibus spending bill not only grants aid to Ukraine, but also designates a part of the national capital as the Ukrainian Independence Park.
Former President Donald Trump, prior to the vote on the omnibus, urged Republicans to vote against the gargantuan bill.
“Every single Republican should vote no on the ludicrous, unacceptable $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill. It’s a disaster for our country. And it also happens to be a disaster for the Republican Party because they can stop it,” Trump explained in a video released on Truth Social.

Dem Rep. Escobar: We Need ‘More Urgency’ from White House, Biden Should ‘Absolutely’ Be at the Border
Representative Veronica Escobar (D-TX) said Wednesday on MSNBC’s “José DÃaz-Balart Reports” that President Joe Biden should “absolutely” be at the U.S.-Mexico border as a surge of migrants is causing a crisis.
DÃaz-Balart said, “Washington needs to deal with immigration and they haven’t since 1986, that was the last comprehensive immigration reform that passed in this country.”
He continued, “I just don’t see, and maybe I’m wrong, I don’t see the urgency. I see the urgency of the NGOs, I see the Red Cross, the plane that brought me here was filled with Red Cross volunteers, I see local officials here, I see National Guard, I just don’t see urgency by the federal government. Am I wrong. Where’s FEMA? Where are the organizations? Where are the people just knowing that these are men, women, and children who are asking for asylum, the legal right to ask for asylum, the legal right to ask for asylum. I don’t see it”
Escobar said, “I share your feeling of frustration and the need for more urgency and I want to see that starting with the White House. I would like to see more direct engagement. I will tell you Secretary Mayorkas has been amazing. FEMA has bent over backward to expedite funding to help local governments. It’s because of the efforts of Secretary Mayorkas that we have the American Red Cross coming in.”
DÃaz-Balart said, “Should the president be here, do you think?”
Escobar replied, ‘I think absolutely the president should be here, and I think everyone should be here, but more importantly than the president actually being here, I want Congress to act. I would like the State Department to be even more robustly engaged on this western hemispheric issue because this is going to take a lot of work. It’s going to take legislation.”

U.S. Aid to Ukraine Eclipses Most World Military Budgets
The $113 billion in U.S. aid to Ukraine has eclipsed the annual military budget of every country in the world except the United States and China.
The passage of the $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill grants Ukraine $45 billion in military and economic aid, making the total to date $113 billion.
The Quincy Institute’s Ben Freeman and William Hartung cataloged some of the ways that aid to Ukraine has exceeded many other of our own government’s expenditures and even other countries’ entire military budgets.
The Quincy Institute reported that aid to Ukraine eclipsed:
- American aid to any country in one year since “at least” the Vietnam War
- Russia’s 2023 $84 billion military budget
- Every country’s military budget except for China and the United States
- American aid for communities affected by drought, hurricanes, flooding, wildfire, and natural disasters — by $4 billion
American aid to Ukraine also nearly matches the combined baseline spending for the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security combined.
It is almost as much as the $118 billion “the United States will spend on medical care for all U.S. military veterans.”
If Ukraine were an American state, it would rank 11th in terms of the amount of federal funding it receives.
“In other words, in the past 12 months Ukraine has been awarded more U.S. taxpayer dollars than 40 U.S. states,” Hartung and Freeman noted.
Congressional leaders such as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) remain vigorously in favor of aid to Ukraine, despite Americans’ increasing skepticism of entanglement in Ukraine.
A Morning Consult poll found that 48 percent of registered Republican voters want to decrease the providing of foreign aid. The survey also revealed that 48 percent of Republicans want to decrease involvement in other countries’ affairs.
A December Harvard CAPS/Harris poll found that inflation, economy and jobs, and immigration were the top issues for Americans, not Ukraine.
Hartung and Freeman argued that “it is well past time that Americans had a genuine conversation about just how much U.S. taxpayers should pay for this support.”

Don't Buy What Democrats Are Selling as Reality
We live in a topsy-turvy world, where true reality is often altered and replaced with a new surreal Democrat reality. This new pseudo-reality is then forced upon society and reinforced until those who imposed it eventually claim that this newly created reality is indeed fact. Hence, Democrats want to force a paradigm shift in what is considered reality.
The problem with this approach is that the new pseudo-realities are almost always totally implausible. People using old-fashioned common sense, and powers of observation, can easily see through these new false realities. However, those who refuse to accept the new pseudo-realities are then labeled as conspirators and as anti-government. The main creators of these new realities are Democrats and their many allies. Beware of what those in today's Democrat party hierarchy are pushing as reality. By the standards of long held societal traditions, common sense, and ultimate truth, what the Democrats offer as reality is often anything but. Following are some examples.
Under their new pseudo-reality, the Democrats would have us believe that our southern border is safe and secure when, in truth, they are open like a sieve. Illegal aliens are pouring into our nation by the millions. Imbedded among this unchecked influx are terrorists, criminals, and communicable disease–carriers. This unabated alien onslaught has also set up conditions for drug cartels to infiltrate the U.S. more easily with tons of horrible drugs, which are killing American citizens daily at an unprecedented rate. The United States' southern border is far from safe or secure.
Under their new pseudo-reality, the Democrats would have us believe there is equal justice under the law, while the truth is that conservative Americans are regularly charged, convicted, and sentenced to maximum penalties. Conversely, Democrats like the great majority of BLM and Antifa rioters go scot-free after committing felonious crimes. Democrats like Hunter Biden are not prosecuted at all in the face of overwhelming evidence of significant criminal wrongdoing. There is no longer equal justice under the law in our country. It is now an unequal, two-tiered justice system.
Under their new pseudo-reality, the Democrats would have us believe that President Biden is fit for service, while anyone using the simple powers of observation will see a senile old man in the throes of dementia, who, instead of leading, is himself being led by Democrat handlers around him. He is the victim of elder abuse by those Democrats who have allowed him to hold a position in which he is totally incapable of serving. President Biden would need only to take a public mental acuity test if he wished to prove his mental fitness and reveal his true cognitive status.
Under their new pseudo-reality, the Democrats would have us believe that all U.S. elections are free and fair when many are plainly not. Democrats act as though once an election is complete, it is automatically fair and finished. They then label anyone contesting election results as a perpetrator of fake news. The facts are that in the 2020 and 2022 elections, the Democrats ignored or discounted hundreds of sworn and damning affidavits by disenfranchised voters, poll-watchers, and ballot support personnel. They ignore credible expert testimonies from statistical analysts and auditors who say the chances of Democrats to have won some elections in the way they did are astronomically tiny (unless fraud is factored into the equation).
Regarding election fraud accusations against Democrats, they choose not to prove their innocence, but instead just declare themselves innocent absent proof. Meanwhile, they fight commonsense election reforms like voter ID and signature verification (and a whole list of others) with every ounce of opposition they can muster. These denial actions project guilt, not innocence. Democrats label non-Democrats who doubt election results as election deniers. The Democrats themselves are obviously election fraud deniers in the face of massive evidence of election malfeasance.
Under their new pseudo-reality, the Democrats would have us believe that killing human babies for convenience is acceptable as long as the babies are pre-born. Democrats disrespect those who believe that the Bible condemns abortion, and they call Bible believers bigots. Democrats desire that pro-life individuals be labeled as anti-abortion, but they themselves are aghast if someone rightfully refers to anti-abortion advocates as pro-death.
Under their new pseudo-reality, the Democrats would have us believe that authoritarian government controls and mandates during COVID were acceptable measures and that further government lockdowns, school closures, mandates, and business restrictions should continue to be allowed without question. Really?
Under their new pseudo-reality, the Democrats would have us believe that the COVID vaccine program, which used an experimental and non-fully tested drug, which turned out not to protect recipients from either getting or transmitting the COVID disease, was perfectly normal and non-problematic. Note that the definition of "vaccine" had to be changed to suit this new Democrat reality.
Under their new pseudo-reality, the Democrats would have us believe that everyone should continue to receive COVID vaccine boosters. This in the face of mounting evidence that current COVID vaccines are neither safe nor effective. The current mRNA vaccines have, in fact, been deadly to thousands of people. To many other individuals, the COVID vaccines are the cause of debilitating conditions that adversely affect circulatory, neurologic, reproductive, musculoskeletal, and immune body systems. Cover-ups need to stop, boosters-for-all need to cease, and responsible people and entities need to be held accountable.
Under their new pseudo-reality, the Democrats would have us believe that they stand for truth when in fact many are proven liars. Their 46th U.S. president is chief among them. He has a lifelong habit of bloviating falsehoods about his personal achievements and education. He tells us his son Hunter and he himself have done nothing wrong when there is Hunter's abandoned laptop chock-full of factual and incriminating evidence that proves Biden's statement false.
Also, another bald-faced Democrat liar is Adam Schiff. He spent two years insisting repeatedly that President Trump was colluding with Russia. In fact, investigators proved him wrong, leaving Schiff with zero credibility. It turned out that Hillary Clinton's campaign initiated this falsehood by using unverifiable misinformation supplied by a professional Russian misinformant. These few examples of Democrat untruths are just the tip of the iceberg.
Under their new pseudo-reality, the Democrats would have us believe that male athletes can change their sex simply by declaring themselves female. This even though male athletes can never change their inherent XY male chromosome make-up. Not so astonishingly, these mediocre male athletes often skyrocket to being top-tier "female" athletes after their declaration.
In short, Democrats want you to believe whatever they desire to be real is true. At the same time, anyone who opposes them and tries to correct them is automatically labeled by Democrats as being wrong and false. If facts and details don't exactly line up with the Democrats' viewpoint, they just create a new and alternate realty that suits their goals and needs (but which may have nothing in common with actual verifiable reality).
Beware! If you believe in the Democrats' faux reality, you do so at your own peril! The spider will have caught you in its web.

Report: National Guard to Send Final Paycheck Before Christmas Late as Biden Admin Sends Billions to Ukraine
President Joe Biden’s administration reportedly failed to send National Guard troops their final paycheck of the year during the week of Christmas, according to a letter sent to troops obtained by The Post Millennial.
The National Guard troops’ paychecks were disrupted due to congressional drama surrounding the $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill that Congress recently approved. After weeks of negotiation, Congress came to a deal on the omnibus spending package. Included in the spending bill is, among other things, a $45 billion aid package for Ukraine. The $45 billion is on top of the $66 billion taxpayer dollars that have already been used to fund Ukrainian aid.
The federal government was set to shut down on Friday after Congress passed a week-long continuing resolution (CR) to continue funding the government after the initial shutdown date of December 14.
The Senate passed the 4,155-page bill on Thursday, and the House approved it on Friday, sending it to Biden’s desk for final approval.
According to the letter sent to members of the National Guard, there has been an ongoing “pay issue that has been plaguing the unit and the division as well.”
The letter states that “many Soldiers were due pay today,” but rather than getting paid, they only received their Leave and Earning Statement (LES), which are pay stubs, but funds did not accompany those pay stubs.
The paycheck issue is “nation wide,” according to the letter, and it “seems to be at” Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) and is “related to the CR.”
The National Guard Bureau was “not made aware of the issue” before Friday, but they are “currently working the issue with DFAS time now,” according to the letter. They are hopeful that the paycheck problem will be “rectified today or tomorrow.”
“This is unfortunate and can cause serious issues and aggravation across the formation which are understandable. Especially 2 days before Christmas,” the letter continued. “I think the messaging is important that it’s understood the issues are at the highest levels and that everyone in the Division and State are pushing for immediate resolution.”

MSNBC Guest: ‘Disgusting’ Abbott Busing Migrants – ‘Playing Politics with Human Lives’
NBC Think contributor and political commentator Ashley Pratte Oates said Monday on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” that Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) is “disgusting” for bussing migrants to the vice president’s home in Washington, D.C. on Christmas Eve.
Since April, Abbott has been busing migrants from Texas to Democratic-controlled cities.
Pratte Oates said, “Well, seems like playing politics with human lives is the entrance fee for running for president on the Republican ticket in 2024. That’s the sad state of Republican politics right now.”
She continued, “While Republicans would love to say they’re pro-life, they only care about children and families when it comes to babies that are in the womb. When they are outside of the womb look at what happens they’re anti-Obamacare, they are anti-welfare, they are anti-humanitarian aid in these situations. This is a huge problem, but yet Republicans, again, continue to see this as the entry fee to the GOP ticket in 2024. Having a hard stance on immigration is that platform for them. To me Christmas Eve bussing three busloads of migrants to the vice president’s house is shameful, disgusting and should be called out for what it is. But instead they are, you know, as pointed out earlier, the RNC is putting out statements about the border numbers rather than calling this the shameful, political play that it was. So I’m quite disgusted by it.”
Pratte Oates added, “Republicans would be first to tell you that they don’t believe in COVID being a thing any more so why is Title 42 still around? This needs to be something that is addressed and it’s not Republican it’s not Democrat. These are human lives that are at stake here.”

A group of gunmen with a faction of Los Zetas dumped two ice chests with severed human body parts. The gunmen left a message threatening local drug distributors in the border state of Nuevo Leon.
The gruesome crime scene took place this week in the municipality of Salinas Victoria, just north of the Monterrey metropolitan area. Gunmen believed to be with the Cartel Del Noreste faction of Los Zetas left the two ice chests along one of the main avenues which is located next to a large city sign.
A series of photographs shared on social media revealed the gory crime scene as well as the content of the cartel message. In the expletive-laden message, CDN-Los Zetas gunmen threaten local drug distributors to stop working with the Gulf Cartel and other groups or they would meet a similar fate.
Salinas Victoria is one of the communities that are along the main routes that connect Monterrey with the border city of Nuevo Laredo. The cities along those routes became widely contested as the CDN -Los Zetas worked to keep other organizations from encroaching on their turf. These efforts led to numerous murders and kidnappings.
The border state of Nuevo Leon continues to experience a dramatic rise in violence as rival criminal organizations including the Sinaloa Cartel, CDN-Los Zetas, the Gulf Cartel, and others fight for control of the local distribution of drugs as well as the lucrative drug routes into Texas.
