From April 2020 to April 2021, more than 100,000 Americans died from drug overdoses, according to data from the National Center for Health Statistics. An overwhelming majority of those deaths came from opioids, and fentanyl smuggling has surged at the southern border since the start of Joe Biden's presidency. Joseph Simonson and Collin Anderson

A San Francisco infant somehow overdosed on fentanyl while at a playground, multiple sources reported this week.

Ten-month-old Senna Matkovic on Tuesday was crawling through the grass at a San Francisco playground when he "began struggling to breathe and turned blue," according to the New York Post. Paramedics arrived, determined that the child had been exposed to fentanyl, and gave him overdose-reversing Narcan.

Seconds after paramedics administered the medication, "the baby started crying and breathing again," according to the San Francisco Chronicle. He was rushed to a hospital, which discharged him that night. The boy's father, Ivan Matkovic, on Wednesday told the Chronicle that his son was in good health.

Police at the scene said Senna Matkovic's exposure was likely through fentanyl powder, according to Ivan Matkovic.

The news comes as San Francisco faces a fentanyl epidemic that has caused more deaths than COVID-19. The left-wing city's drug problem was one factor behind the successful recall this year of former district attorney Chesa Boudin (D.), a radical leftist who did not oversee a single fentanyl conviction, the Washington Free Beacon reported in May. City spokespeople would not confirm Senna Matkovic's accidental overdose, telling the Chronicle that it is under investigation.

Ahsha Safaí (D.), a member of San Francisco's Board of Supervisors, blasted the city for the incident, calling it "one of the largest breaches of trust of the public."

"If this wasn't a wake-up call, I don't know what is," Safaí said.

Border Patrol Agents Make Historic Liquid Fentanyl Seizure in South Texas

Border Patrol agents in Robstown, Texas along with local law enforcement authorities discovered 25 pounds of liquid fentanyl hidden in a specialized compartment inside a vehicle’s gas tank. Officials say this quantity of liquid fentanyl is enough to kill a population of 5.665 million people — more than double the population of the city of Houston.

Rio Grande Valley Sector Chief Patrol Agent Gloria Chavez tweeted praise over the efforts of Border Patrol agents and Nueces County Sheriff’s Office deputies in discovering the hidden narcotics. According to Chavez, the street value of the liquid fentanyl is $1.8 million.

Chief Chavez declared the seizure, “the largest amount of liquid fentanyl in the history of the USA” in her tweet. Drug traffickers often convert the liquid fentanyl into powder which is then formed into tablets for easy sale and distribution across the United States. During Fiscal Year 2022, which ended in on September 30, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized more than 14,000 pounds of fentanyl in all its forms. Fentanyl seizures have risen nearly 200% from 2020 when 4,800 pounds were seized, according to CBP reports.

The city of Robstown is located just west of Corpus Christi and about 150 miles north of the Texas-Mexico border.

According to a recent Drug Enforcement Public Safety Alert, Fentanyl remains the deadliest drug threat facing the United States. It is a highly addictive synthetic opioid that is 50 times more potent than heroin and 100 times more potent than morphine, officials stated. An amount small enough to fit on the tip of a pencil is considered a potentially deadly dose. According to the DEA alert, The Sinaloa Cartel and Jalisco Cartel in Mexico, using chemicals largely sourced from China, are primarily responsible for most of the fentanyl being trafficked inside the United States.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott recently declared these two cartels to be terrorist organizations due, in large part, to their trafficking of this deadly drug, Breitbart Texas reported. Under the governor’s Operation Lone Star, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers and National Guardsmen seized more than 353 million lethal doses of fentanyl.

According to the CDC, more than 107,000 Americans died of drug poisoning in 2021, with more than half of the deaths involving synthetic opioids like fentanyl. No information was provided concerning suspects arrested in connection to the seizure.

No Feliz Navidad for many in Mexico

It was not easy to read this report.  After all, the victims in this story are children.  This is from Jessica Guerrero over at Pulse News Mexico:

The constant climate of extreme violence in which Mexico has lived since the start of the so-called drug war in 2006 has left a huge red stain in the modern history of the country.

From 2006 to 2021 alone, it is estimated that 350,000 people were killed in the country because of drug wars and power struggles between cartels and other organized crime groups, and at least 72,000 people have been missing since then, more than 30,000 of whom have disappeared during the last four years under the watch of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO).

This situation by itself has had a great impact on the quality of life of Mexicans, but it is especially the nation’s children and adolescents who have had to bear witness to the most atrocious side of the violence generated by organized crime. Just under AMLO’s administration alone, so far 4,090 minors have been murdered.

According to statistics, an average of seven children are killed under violent circumstances every day in Mexico, 70 percent of them by firearms. Such numbers even surpass those of Syria, which has been in a civil war since 2011.

The incidence of these murders is concentrated mainly in the states of Michoacán, Guanajuato, Tamaulipas, Jalisco and Zacatecas. The security conditions that these states face due to disputes between local criminal groups have favored the rise of violent crimes against Mexican children.

Why children? As in Chicago, they are often at the wrong place at the wrong time.

BLOG EDITOR: THE FORMER PRESIDENT OF NARCOMEX IS ALLEGED TO HAVE SUCKED OFF $100 MILLION IN BRIBES FROM THE CARTELS. SUBSTANTIALLY MEXICO IS A NARCO STATE ON AMERICA'S OPEN AND UNDEFENDED BORDER.

What is the Lopez-Obrador government doing about this? So far nothing, as most of my Mexican friends tell me. They are embracing something called "hugs not bullets," for cartels, or a dismal policy that projects weakness or a lack of interest in addressing the violence. The criminal elements in Mexico look at the weak president in Mexico and the chaos on the U.S.-Mexico border and have concluded that it's a good time to move drugs and people.

So the violence persists and more children get killed when both sides pull the trigger.  It's a horrible story as many of us get ready to cheer the Christmas season with our families. For many south of the border, there won't be a "Feliz Navidad" this year and probably not one for a long time.

Leaked Mexican Army Report Unveils Cartel Drug Routes to Arizona, California

Mexican Navy Seizure 3

A recently leaked Mexican military report courtesy of hacktivists revealed the routes cartels use to reach Arizona and California.

The documents show land, rail, air, and sea routes used primarily by the Sinaloa Cartel to move large quantities of drugs. In October, hacktivists called Guacamaya managed to break into the servers of Mexico’s Army and steal a large trove of documents. Those data revealed key issues that Mexico’s government has tried to keep hidden from public view.

According to some of the documents first reported by Infobae, cartels in Sonora and Baja California use four federal and two state highways to run tractor-trailers loaded with hidden drug loads:
-Federal Highway 15, which runs from Hermosillo to Nogales, Sonora.

-Federal Highway 2, which runs from Agua Prieta, Sonora to Mexicali, Baja California.

-Federal Highway 8, which runs from Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point) to Sonoyta, Sonora.

-Federal Highway 7, which runs from Hermosillo to Agua Prieta, Sonora.

-State Highway 3, which runs from Miguel Aleman to Puerto Libertad, Sonora.

-State Highway 37, which runs from Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point) to San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora.

The documents revealed there are several military checkpoints along those routes. However, according to Sonoran journalist Jesus Alberto Ibarra, the checkpoints do little to stop any trafficking.

Another mode of transporting drugs is through train routes which connect throughout Sonora to border cities.

The third mode of transportation is a mix of commercial airlines and private planes using clandestine landing strips.

Most of the clandestine air routes start from Topolobampo, Sinaloa. From there, small planes take routes to Puerto Penasco or Delicias, Baja California.
The document also lists sea routes throughout the Gulf of California.

Editor’s Note: Breitbart Texas traveled to Mexico City and the states of Tamaulipas, Coahuila, and Nuevo León to recruit citizen journalists willing to risk their lives and expose the cartels silencing their communities.  The writers would face certain death at the hands of the various cartels that operate in those areas including the Gulf Cartel and Los Zetas if a pseudonym were not used. Breitbart Texas’ Cartel Chronicles are published in both English and in their original Spanish. This article was written by “C.P. Mireles” from Tamaulipas and “L.P. Contreras” from Mexico City.

With Biden in office, America’s southern border has vanished entirely.

Releasing to the streets gang members eligible for deportation is nothing new in Santa Clara County. ICE published a report in 2018 detailing that 142 gang members whom the agency was seeking to deport during a nine-month period in 2017 were released by local law enforcement rather than being transferred to federal custody; Santa Clara County led the nation, releasing 22 gang members. DAVE SEMINARA

As reported by Breitbart Texas, the arrest of migrants with existing criminal records has risen more than 350 percent since 2020. According to CBP, the number of migrants who have criminal convictions for Homicide and Manslaughter rose from 3 encounters in 2020 to more than 60 in 2022. More than 120 migrants with homicide or manslaughter convictions have been encountered since January 2021 — compared to 11 during the Trump era. The increase reflects those convicted of prior offenses committed in the United States.

Joe Biden and other Democrats have spent the last four years repeating the mantra “no one is above the law.” Yet Biden has advocated policies that would, as the San Francisco Chronicle recently noted, effectively make the United States a sanctuary country.

Rep. James Comer: Republicans' Crime Priority Will Be Fentanyl

(CNSNews.com) - Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), the incoming chair of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, says fentanyl, not guns, will be a priority for the next Republican-led Congress.

"I mean, we already have many gun laws on the books," Comer told NBC's "Meet the Press."

"If passing a bill would simply end gun violence, then I think you would have overwhelming support in Congress for that. That's like saying Congress could pass a bill that reduces inflation. That didn't reduce inflation. So, you know, passing bills doesn't solve the problems.

"We have, as Governor Youngkin said, a mental health crisis in America. And I think there's overwhelming bipartisan support to fund better mental health programs and try to increase communication between law enforcement agencies and social services groups to try to better identify these troubled people before they commit crimes."

Comer said gun control has been discussed for all six years he's been in Congress. "It's very difficult," he said.

"You know, the number one priority with respect to crime in America for Republicans is going to be the fentanyl crisis. We talk about terrible gun crimes in America, but we've had over 100,000 deaths because of Fentanyl pouring across our border, which is unsecured right now. That's going to be the top priority for Republicans come January."

Host Chuck Todd continued pressing Comer on recent "massacres" and whether stricter gun laws -- longer waiting periods and red flag laws -- might be part of the answer.

"Well, Chuck, you talk about this a lot on "Meet the Press," but when you look at cities that have the most strict gun laws, like Washington, D.C., Chicago, these are the cities with the highest rate of crimes committed with guns.

“So, you know, just simply passing more bills isn't going to solve the problem. I think we need to get serious about law enforcement. We need to invest in more law enforcement. And again, we need to invest in mental health and try to improve communication between our social agencies as well as our law enforcement."

Comer noted that in rural America, where many people have guns, "there aren't a lot of crimes in these areas. And I think one reason is because potential criminals know that these people are exercising their Second Amendment rights," he said.

"So this is something that's indoctrinated in our Constitution. This is something that Republicans hold, you know, close. And we're going to continue to protect our Second Amendment rights, but while, at the same time, we want to get serious about crime in America, the fentanyl crisis, as well as the looting that's taking place in cities.

"We believe that we need more law enforcement, and we need to respect the -- the law enforcement. We need to have prosecutors that are serious about prosecuting and not letting people off in the name of criminal justice.

"So these are issues that are going to be debated early on in a new Republican majority."
