Clyburn and Sharpton have figured out prosperity for themselves. Stop by the International African-American Museum, which Clyburn earmarked $784,000 for, the lead architect was his nephew, or the Drew Wellness Center, with a $229,000 earmark, whose marketing and membership director was his daughter. And ask the Reverend Al where he gets his suits and who pays for them.

Blacks are also overrepresented among perpetrators of hate crimes—by 50 percent—according to the most recent Justice Department data from 2017; whites are underrepresented by 24 percent. This is particularly true for anti-gay and anti-Semitic hate crimes.

  

Every year in America, some 500 whites are murdered by black assailants, more than twice as many as blacks killed by whites.  The media need to report all of these cases fairly and without bias so as to counter the false reporting and misplaced emphasis in the national press.  All victims, of whatever race, deserve justice because all human life is precious.  The reporting of violence should not be based on race — it should be proportionate to the crime, without regard to the race of the perpetrator or the victim.  Jeffrey Folks

REVIEW: 'Loudmouth'

It probably would be possible to make a good documentary about Al Sharpton, one that offered some nuanced insight into the life of a genuinely bizarre man, the former child preacher from the streets of Brooklyn, mentored by the likes of Jesse Jackson and James Brown, who would go on to become one of the most recognizable and expensively dressed demagogues of his generation.

That film would be nothing like Loudmouth, the John Legend-produced Sharpton documentary available now (for purchase, obviously) on iTunes and Amazon Video after a limited run in theaters and a star-studded world premiere at last year's Tribeca Film Festival. Robert De Niro, the Hollywood deadbeat and Democratic activist, reportedly introduced the film by describing its subject as "so soft-spoken and so reasonable." Attendees who knew (or knew of) Sharpton before his 21st century rebrand laughed out loud, but the actor wasn't joking.

This dichotomy reveals the extent to which Sharpton has succeeded in transforming himself into a respected member of the cultural establishment. The megaphone-wielding, morbidly obese race hustler marching the streets of New York in garish track suits while being denounced by the NAACP has blossomed into a laid-back, alarmingly emaciated race hustler cruising the streets of New York in the back of a chauffeured SUV en route to his private cigar club wearing immaculately tailored (but still garish) pinstripes, fielding calls from leading Democrats and prepping for his show on MSNBC.

Loudmouth attempts to chronicle this evolution using archival clips from his rabble-rousing exploits in the 1980s, when Sharpton honed his talent for appearing on television during moments of racial strife. These clips are interspersed with footage from the summer of racial unrest in 2020 and a running commentary from Sharpton, the only person interviewed for the film. Seated in a massive library, surrounded by leather-bound books and rich mahogany, Sharpton positions himself alongside MLK in the history of the civil rights movement. They were both indicted for tax fraud, he explains. Q.E.D.

It is, quite literally, a one-sided account that warrants far more scrutiny than the filmmakers were either willing or permitted to allow. Though we see a few instances of fat Sharpton ranting about "Jews!" and the "Hallacast," his instigating role in the Crown Heights riot (1991), the worst outburst of anti-Semitic violence in modern American history, is never discussed. His deplorable handling of the Tawana Brawley rape hoax (1987) is downplayed as the story of "a young lady who made an accusation" and a passionate young activist who believed she "deserved a day in court." That's one way of putting it.

In a display of the wisdom one has come to expect from skinny Sharpton's low-rated television show and numerous guest appearances on Morning Joe, he explains that if the jury in the O.J. Simpson trial could acquit an obvious murderer, the grand jury's conclusion in the Brawley case—that she was not kidnapped and gang raped by a racist police officer and county prosecutor with ties to the Mafia and Irish terrorists—might also be wrong.

Only Al Sharpton, a man of immeasurable capacity for self-promotion, could say something so absurd with a straight face. He must have been relatively confident the film would not discuss the successful defamation case against him, the prominent black leaders who denounced his conduct, and the former confidant who told the New York Times that Sharpton and Brawley's attorneys "knew they had no evidence" but were determined to exploit the publicity to become, in Sharpton's words, "the biggest n—s in New York."

The film's opening sequence includes a line that could be seen as an attempt to justify this revisionist narrative. "The history of the lion and the hunter would look a lot different if the lion could read and write," Sharpton says. "The reason the hunter always comes off as glorious is he's the one that writes the story." It's not entirely clear if the filmmakers included this line out of sincerity, irony, or a mixture of both. One scene in particular suggests they are not oblivious to Sharpton's contradictory persona.

It's June 2, 2020, at the height of the violent unrest following the murder of George Floyd. Sharpton is speaking at a press conference in New York and takes a moment to address the unsavory elements of the mass protests. "If you are one that is a looter, don't act like you are an activist," he says. "Because an activist goes for causes and justice, not for designer shoes." Cut to Sharpton in his chauffeured SUV, a close up on his immaculately pressed pocket square.

What happens next is another example of how the legacy Sharpton envisions for himself is at odds with the legacy he has earned. He takes a call from Senator Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) and stresses the need for "legislative change" in addition to the performative outrage he once so proudly pioneered. (Remember all the celebrities reading White Fragility and posting black squares on their Instagram accounts?) Schumer responds by boasting about the "really strong" speech he gave denouncing President Donald Trump.

This doesn't appear in the film, but several days after that conversation Schumer and his fellow Democratic leaders demonstrated their own knack for appearing on television during moments of racial strife by donning kente cloths and inviting journalists to observe them kneeling in silence on the floor of Emancipation Hall.

In October 2020, the Loudmouth film crew followed Sharpton as he celebrated his 65th birthday at a celebrity-packed gala in the New York Public Library. The event was co-chaired by Tanya Lombard, head of Multicultural Engagement and Strategic Alliances at AT&T, graduate of Harvard Business School, member of the Clinton Global Initiative, and self-described "Transformational Change Agent"—an example of how, like Sharpton himself, the so-called racial justice movement has graduated from the streets to the C-Suites.

Phil Griffin, president of MSNBC, was among the notable figures who took the stage to laud the guest of honor. "I spent my entire career working in media," he says. "I always tell people, 'If you want to understand the media world and how it's changed, you follow the life of Reverend Al Sharpton.'" Viewers who know anything at all about Al Sharpton or the media world will laugh out loud.

He wasn't joking.

Black America’s Anti-Semitism Problem

An academic paper explores the character and sources of black anti-Semitism

From Kanye West endorsing Hitler to Kyrie Irving inviting followers to watch a documentary about how blacks are the true Jews, anti-Semitism from prominent black figures has been in the news. A recent study explores the phenomenon of black anti-Semitism more broadly, ruling out popular explanations—and excuses—for its frequency.

Black anti-Semitism is nothing new. It has appeared in the works of black intellectuals since at least the early-20th-century black nationalist Marcus Garvey, as Elliot Kaufman observed in Commentary, and defined politics in New York City—the American metropolis where blacks and Jews most often rub shoulders—for generations.

But where does it come from? A new paper by sociologists Eitan Hersh of Tufts University and Laura Royden of Harvard explores this question. The pair reveal—using a survey of thousands of Americans—some shocking statistics, including that black and Hispanic young adults report anti-Semitic views at rates similar to white young adults who self-identify as "alt-right."

The paper torpedoes popular explanations for black anti-Semitism, like the claim that anti-Semitism is just "anti-whiteness" or an expression of solidarity with the Palestinians. But it does not, despite its attempts to do so, pinpoint the source of this prejudice, so their findings suggest simply that views like Irving and West's are more common than we'd like to believe, and aren't going away any time soon.

Their finding is important nonetheless, particularly as anti-Semitic incidents reach record highs amid a surge in major cities. They clarify that these attacks are not, as some still maintain, exclusively the work of white supremacists like the shooter who targeted Pittsburgh's Tree of Life synagogue in 2018. Rather, attacks like the stabbing and car assaults that left three men injured in Lakewood, N.J., in April exemplify the persistence of this black anti-Semitism.

To measure anti-Semitism, Hersh and Royden asked their survey respondents three questions: Are Jews more loyal to Israel than America, is it appropriate to boycott Jewish-owned businesses to oppose Israel's policies, and do Jews in the United States have too much power?

The majority of respondents said no to these questions, but black respondents were much more likely than whites to say yes to at least one—13 percentage points more, after accounting for differences in age, sex, and education. Hispanic respondents were also slightly more likely to agree, though the difference was not statistically distinguishable from zero.

The effect was most pronounced among young blacks and Hispanics. Both groups were 16 percentage points more likely to agree than whites in their age group. Anti-Semitism was particularly common among young blacks and Hispanics who called themselves "conservative." But that was a small group, and anti-Semitism was more common even among liberal blacks compared with liberal whites. Black and Hispanic young adults, in fact, were about as likely to agree with at least one of the statements as were white "alt-right" identifiers in the same age group.

Hispanics are often lumped with whites in hate crime data, so it is difficult to trace precisely the implications of this prejudice among Hispanics, which is an under-discussed and undercovered aspect of the story.

Hersh and Royden's survey also allowed them to examine several theories of the causes of anti-Semitism. One was "minority group competition": the idea that fighting over scarce resources like housing provokes anti-Semitism. Another was the idea that anti-Semitism is a manifestation of anti-whiteness: As James Baldwin put it, "Negroes are anti-Semitic because they're anti-white." A third, opposite possibility was the idea that people disliked Jews because they dislike Israel and because they supported the Palestinians. And fourth is that demographic or behavioral differences—for example, that minority groups are less well-educated or more likely to go to church—explains the variation.

None of these explanations stood up to scrutiny.

Take group differences. Hersh and Royden statistically controlled for both church and college attendance. While each mattered for whether or not someone held anti-Semitic beliefs, holding them constant blacks are still much more likely than whites to have anti-Semitic views. The authors also compare respondents in states with and without a lot of Jewish people (doable because most Jews live in just a few states). Again, race still predicts anti-Semitic views, meaning that proximity to Jews—"minority group competition"—doesn't explain the difference.

Similarly, Hersh and Royden argue that black anti-Semitism is more than just anti-white bias. That's because they measure views, like whether Jews are more loyal to Israel than America, that only apply to Jews, not whites. They also rule out the idea that anti-Semitism is just a function of pro-Palestinian views: Remarkably, blacks and Hispanics were more favorable toward Israel than whites across three separate measures.

To supplement this, Hersh and Royden asked respondents who said they believed Jews had too much power in which domains they had such power. Very few respondents—7 percent of blacks/Hispanics and 9 percent of whites—selected only Israel and Palestine. Instead, these respondents said Jews had too much power in areas like news media, finance, and entertainment. This suggests that anti-Semitic bias is not driven by anti-Israel views.

Having ruled out these popular explanations, Hersh and Royden are left only to speculate on the causes of black anti-Semitism. They point to the rising salience of victimhood in American culture, arguing that it may either make people more prone to embracing conspiracy theories or provoke competition over "victim" status. It is also possible, of course, that anti-Semitic views are just a product of prejudice—no need for further explanation.

What is apparent is that the views propounded by individuals like West and Irving are not unusual, particularly among black Americans. Unlike other forms of prejudice, Hersh and Royden observe, anti-Semitism is not fading among younger Americans: At least among minorities, the oldest hatred isn't going away any time soon.

Battle of the 2020 Corrupt Racists in South Carolina

Some places have battles between good and evil. Others have battles between competing evils.

In Washington D.C., there are tough fights between government bureaucrats over who gets to leak to the media first, in San Francisco, there are fierce defecating competitions between diseased vagrants, and in South Carolina, the battle of the racists was fought and won. And, spoiler alert, the racists won.

Joe Biden was able to emerge victorious because of an endorsement by Rep. Jim Clyburn. The third-ranking Democrat in the House, had declared, “I'm trying to create a surge on behalf of Joe Biden."

The exit polls showed that Clyburn had delivered. 61% of Democrats said that Clyburn’s endorsement was a factor in their vote. And for a quarter of Democrat voters, it was the biggest factor in their vote.

The devil didn’t go down to Georgia. He was from South Carolina. And now Joe’s gotta pay the price.

“My buddy Jim Clyburn, you brought me back!” Biden declared in his victory speech. But Clyburn isn’t Biden’s buddy. He's already calling for a major retooling of the Biden campaign in which "many of us around the country will be able to join with him and help him get it right." You can bet that some of the “us” will be Clyburn’s allies. There’s a reason Clyburn is a kingmaker in South Carolina. And it’s not the force of his ideas, or his stumbling speeches. He commands loyalty because he delivers for his pals.

Just go on a tour of Clyburn scandals like the Village at River’s Edge and the James E. Clyburn Transportation Center. That one only cost $107 million, went $30 million over budget, and took over a decade. The Center is a garage, it holds Clyburn's papers, and it was going to solve all our transportation problems. Instead it solved the problem of transporting money and burying it in the Clyburn Center.

But that’s just the usual slime. There’s another problem with Joe turning over his campaign to James.

Biden addressed AIPAC by video and vowed, “I will always call out anti-Semitism whether it comes from the left, right to center.”

That would be kind of awkward.

Clyburn led the fight to protect Rep. Ilhan Omar against being sanctioned for anti-Semitism. He dismissed Jewish complaints by retorting, “There are people who tell me, ‘Well, my parents are Holocaust survivors.’ ‘My parents did this.’ It’s more personal with her."

So, Joe won’t be calling out Omar. Or his buddy, James.

Clyburn had taken part in a Farrakhan town hall in 2011. He appeared despite protests by Jewish groups, including the Simon Wiesenthal Center. Rabbi Cooper of the Center had politely urged, “Rev. Farrakhan does not deserve the respectability of having Rep. James Clyburn of South Carolina sit alongside him.”

But Clyburn proved that he had the same degree of respectability as Farrakhan, who had praised Hitler. Clyburn told The Final Call, the Nation of Islam’s paper, that he was, “not bothered in the least bit”

"I want to thank Minister Farrakhan for offering up a number of precepts that we ought to adhere to,” he declared.

Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam’s precepts include the belief that white people were created by an evil Jewish mad scientist, and that UFOs will come down to earth to destroy all the white people.

This is how Biden won in South Carolina.

Bernie couldn’t get Clyburn in his corner, he had to settle for the second best crooked racist. While Clyburn was appearing with Biden, Al Sharpton was defending Bernie’s socialism.

“Do not go by those who use the socialist tag to try to separate us from what we need to do for this country," the racist leader insisted at his National Action Network event.

A National Action Network leader had previously praised the racist arsonist who had burned down a Jewish store in Harlem, killing 7 people, 5 of them Latino women. More recently, a NAN chapter leader had defended anti-Semitic rhetoric excusing the mass shooting at a Kosher supermarket by members of the Black Hebrew Israelite racist hate group. But that sort of thing obviously doesn’t bother Bernie.

There are already more Jewhaters than Jews supporting his hateful campaign to destroy America. What’s the big deal of having the guy at the center of the Crown Heights Pogrom touting Bernie?

Al already lives under socialism.

Sharpton got a $1 million payday from the National Action Network. He also sold the NAN the rights to life story for a modest half a million dollars. Around that time, he owed almost $700,000 in back taxes. Previously, he had managed to dodge debts by assigning ownership of his suits to one of his companies.

Sanders is an amateur socialist grifter. Sharpton, like Bernie’s wife, is a pro.

On his MSNBC show, which Sharpton allegedly received for services rendered to Comcast, he gushed over the socialist. "Bernie Sanders is the one candidate on the stage more than anyone else that people are supporting him," the illiterate racist scoundrel declared in a clip posted by the Sanders campaign. "Bernie has ran a transformative campaign."

Resist we much.

But courting the corrupt racist has always been a big priority for Commissar Sanders. After winning in New Hampshire, Bernie had headed to a meeting with Sharpton for a socialist racist tête-à-tête.

Sharpton has a whole lot less sway with voters in South Carolina than he does with the arsonists of Harlem and the stabbers of Crown Heights. Biden gobbled up 64% of the black vote while Sanders had to settle for 15%. To add insult to injury, Tom Steyer, who just dropped out, got 13%.

In the battle of the crooked racists, Clyburn trounced Sharpton in South Carolina.

But Clyburn’s pull drops a whole lot outside South Carolina, while Super Tuesday marches on to, among other places, New York. That’s where Al got his start with his track suits, racism, and pogroms.

And while Clyburn is at least an honest politician, Sharpton is up for sale to the highest bidder.

In 2016, he was flirting with Bernie, with Hillary, and… with Bloomberg.

"Bloomberg is one of the few people who could pull off a credible independent candidacy for president," Sharpton had declared after a meeting with a Bloomberg aide.

The true significance of the South Carolina struggle, beyond sending Buttigieg off to the wine cave, is that the race’s two winners competed for the black vote, not by credibly promising to make things better for black people, but by appealing to the same old corrupt power brokers who keep things bad.

Biden is promising black voters eight more years of Obama, complete with unemployment and poverty, while Bernie is offering to wreck the entire country’s economy by chopping down the money tree, setting it on fire, and dancing on the ashes. Contrast that with President Trump’s booming economy and record low levels of black unemployment. That’s going to be the choice for black voters in 2020.

Not just between Biden or Bernie, but between plantation politics and prosperity.

Clyburn and Sharpton have figured out prosperity for themselves. Meanwhile their communities remain broken and poor, divided by hatred incited by Clyburn and Sharpton, who seek to direct blame and guilt away from the perpetrators of plantation politics.

Biden and Bernie won in South Carolina. But black voters once again lost in South Carolina.

 

Looting for Amusement and Luxury Goods

Walnut Creek is a quiet exurban town outside of San Francisco. It uncharacteristically made national news over the last few days, and not for anything good. It was the scene of a large-scale smash and grab in the wake of the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict.

Over a dozen vehicles pulled up to the Broadway Plaza shopping mall. Some eighty vandals, some wielding crowbars, ran inside Nordstrom and stole merchandise.  Five Nordstrom employees were physically assaulted.

The action was said to be over in less than a minute. With their bounty in hand, estimated at $200,000, the thieves drove off in different directions. Only three were apprehended. Of those, one was illegally carrying a firearm.

The media has omitted the race of the perpetrators, a policy that ironically makes race even more salient. Video footage shows the perpetrators were black. Eyewitness accounts confirm that. And the same tactic and demographic makeup were seen at the Louis Vuitton smash and grab earlier in San Francisco.

The neighborhood blogs are filled with discussions. Liberals predictably claim this is because of the divide between the haves and have nots. Others have opined that it is part of the no justice, no peace result of the Rittenhouse verdict. And, of course, there was the inevitable search for root causes, which are always looked for and never really found, at least not empirically.

The cause few want to talk about is what happened at the same mall during the George Floyd riots, in June of 2020. Then our police and civic leaders decided to have the police stand in place. Macy’s was ransacked by hordes of young people who sometimes fought among themselves because some were perceived to have acquired better loot than others.

In the wake of the George Floyd case, our civic leaders, in their infinite wisdom, decided the optics of arresting young black people would not be good. It would be better to let them sate their appetite for theft. On the way out of the mall area, one vandal shot a firearm into a crowd of shoppers, hitting a young black woman in the arm. The police that were the object of the rioters’ derision were quickly giving her first aid and securing transport to the regional medical center.

So, it is not surprising that our mall was once again targeted. After all, during the first smash and grab at Macy’s, the thieves were not stopped. The police stood there like a bunch of robots whose batteries had gone dead. I doubt the rank and file desired this. This was a decision that most likely came from our cowardly civic leaders, who were more worried about optics than public safety.

New York policing has taught us the virtues of the concept of broken windows. Don’t fix the small things in a neighborhood and soon you have big things with which to deal. Start with the broken windows because societal neglect and crime are intertwined.  Show that minor infractions are not going to be tolerated. In New York, dealing with broken windows has put a big damper on crime.

Our civic leaders chose the opposite perspective. Let them run wild. Let them steal. Let them flee without obstruction, and they will simply go away. Of course, the civic leaders didn’t think that they had now provided an open invitation for thieves to return for another round.

We will shortly hear from academic pundits about black rage, a theory that is used to justify all sorts of anti-social and criminal behavior. Stealing Louis Vuitton luxury goods will be justified because of the legacy of slavery and discrimination. Only harebrained academics take such nonsense seriously.

An organized criminal enterprise is not the consequence of episodic rage, but of a purposeful undertaking. And before we get too hung up on the race of the perpetrators, we should consider that a lot of different kinds of people will be buying these luxury goods on social media, knowing they are stolen.

On the streets of San Francisco, a city where shoplifting under $950 is a misdemeanor, street vendors hawk stolen goods in original wrapping, sometimes just yards from the stores from which they were stolen. Walgreens is closing twenty-two stores in San Francisco, and communities are whining about a prescription desert, but not taking social action to prevent the ongoing plague of theft.

We have a criminal underclass in our society, one that festers and then finds excuses to explode. While my white suburban neighbors have had their societal equilibrium disturbed as a result of the violence and chaos at Nordstrom, inner-city minorities deal with these problems every day, and our criminal justice system ignores them.

We are becoming acclimated to violence. Gangs shooting at each other on Interstate 880 and killing a two-year-old is just another day in Oakland. On Route 4, near Oakley, there was gunfire from a housing development at passing vehicles headed west. Our public hospitals are overrun with shooting victims, usually as part of ongoing gang wars.

There is no leadership. But there is hypocrisy. The so-called congressional “Squad” calls for defunding the police but hires private security for its own protection. An open border brings in desperate people without relevant economic skills. How will they survive? The media find both justification and sanctification for the riots it deems politically appropriate: witness Minneapolis, Portland, and Seattle.  In so doing, the media provide legitimacy to thuggery.

The separation between the haves and the have nots is really a separation between the elites and the ordinary, hard-working citizens. The elites have joined with the underclass, but in the end, those who rule with an absence of the heart, as Alexis de Tocqueville noted, are to be vanquished in a single historical night. It will not come soon enough.

At least three guaranteed income initiatives in the San Francisco Bay Area openly discriminate against white residents, limiting or entirely preventing their participation in programs that dole out no-strings-attached cash.

The programs—all of which are publicly funded—violate both the United States and the California state constitution, lawyers say, as well as civil rights laws that ban race discrimination in contracting and by the recipients of government funds.

The initiatives include the Black Economic Equity Movement, which provides $500 a month exclusively to "Black young adults," the Abundant Birth Project, which provides $1,000 a month to "Black and Pacific Islander mothers," and the Guaranteed Income for Transgender People program, which will dole out $1,200 a month and "prioritize enrollment" of transgender "Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC)."  They are financed by the National Institutes of Health, the California Department of Social Services, and the city of San Francisco, respectively.

These programs offer a preview of what could soon be the norm in the Golden State. In July 2021, California lawmakers set aside $35 million dollars in grant funding for guaranteed income pilots across the state. Though the law did not include any racial or ethnic qualifiers, in keeping with the California constitution, the state’s social services department said that it would only give out the grants to pilots that "center equity." Grant applicants were encouraged to "embed an equity-focused approach throughout each dimension" of their programs, including their "eligibility."

"It’s astonishing to me how brazen the State of California and its various Bay Areas local governments have become in violating the many laws and constitutional provisions prohibiting race discrimination," said Gail Heriot, a member of the United States Commission on Civil Rights and a professor at the University of San Diego School of Law.

All three initiatives appear to violate the 14th Amendment, which bans states from discriminating based on race, said Dan Morenoff, the executive director of the American Civil Rights Project, as well as the California constitution and the Civil Rights Act of 1866, which ban racial discrimination in contracting. In addition, the Black Economic Equity Movement appears to violate Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which bans racial discrimination by the recipients of federal funds. The National Institutes of Health, whose "health equity" initiative funded the program, did not respond to a request for comment.

The blueprint for these programs comes from private philanthropic ventures, which have experimented with supplemental income schemes in Jackson, Miss., and Atlanta that are only available to black women.

Though both the Mississippi program, underwritten by the W.K. Kellogg foundation, and the Atlanta program, funded by the Georgia Resilience and Opportunity Fund, discriminate based on race, they probably don’t violate any laws, said David Bernstein, a professor of constitutional law at George Mason Law School.

But their California counterparts are another ball game.

"The publicly funded programs are clearly unconstitutional," Bernstein said. "It’s not a close call."

In an implicit admission of the legal stakes, every agency involved in the Abundant Birth Project denied using the racial criteria listed on the program’s website. The San Francisco Department of Public Health, which oversees the program, told the Washington Free Beacon that it is "open to all San Franciscans," albeit "with focused efforts" to reach black and Pacific Islander "pregnant and parenting people." Jason Montiel, a spokesman for the California Department of Social Services, which in November wrote a $5 million grant to the Abundant Birth Project so it could expand to other parts of the state, said the expansion "will not use race as a basis for eligibility."

That might come as news to Grant Colfax, the director of the San Francisco health department: In a December 6 press release trumpeting the grant, he said it would "help hundreds more Black birthing parents in California." San Francisco mayor London Breed likewise implied that the expansion was racially targeted, calling the Abundant Birth Project "a model to address racial birth disparities."

The Black Economic Equity Movement and the Guaranteed Income for Transgender People program did not respond to requests for comment.

The legal status of a fourth program, Oakland Resilient Families, is less clear. The initiative provides $500 a month to "BIPOC families" living in Oakland, according to a March 2021 press release from the city’s website, which describes it as a "partnership" with "government leaders." In a June 2021 press release, however, the city said the initiative is "not a city-run program and is 100 percent funded through philanthropic donations," adding that "any" low-income family "is welcome to apply."

Oakland Resilient Families also lists Justin Berton, a spokesman for Oakland mayor Libby Schaaf (D.), as a point of contact for the allegedly private program. Berton did not respond to a request for comment.

A Louisiana mother shot and killed an alleged intruder at about 5 a.m. Sunday in Tangipahoa Parish.

KLFY reports that 51-year-old Robert Rheams was allegedly armed with a shovel and lug wrench when he made entry into the family’s home.

Rheams and the mother reportedly got into an “altercation,” and the mother shot and fatally wounded him.

The Advocate notes that Tangipahoa Parish deputies arrived on the scene and Rheams was pronounced dead.

KSLA observes that Chief Jimmy Travis indicated, “Rheams was out on parole after serving almost 20 years in prison for armed robbery.”

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office points out that detectives believe Rheams to have allegedly been tied to a carjacking that occurred prior to the fatal home invasion.

A Chicago man received a combined 16-year prison sentence for carjacking a driver so that he could get to court for a stolen vehicle case.

Edward Flemming, 22, was arrested in January 2020 after he sole a Ford Fusion while wearing a ski mask, but he was released on his own recognizance, CWB Chicago reported.

The following month, Flemming, along with a 17-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl, threatened a 22-year-old male with the intention of stealing the victim’s car so that Flemming could arrive at his court appearance at 9:00 a.m. on February 25, 2020.

The 22-year-old victim had intended to meet a woman he connected with online on the 300 block of West 120th Street, but once he arrived at their meeting place around 8:00 a.m., two men were waiting for him and proceeded to rob him, according to CBS Chicago.

Flemming pointed a gun at the victim while the 17-year-old assaulted him in the face before the three offenders took off with the victim’s phone, keys, and vehicle.

“After police learned about the robbery and broadcast a description of the stolen car over police radio, officers found the vehicle a short time later near 111th and Champlain, and took all three suspects into custody,” CBS Chicago reported.

Furthermore, officers also discovered a handgun in the vehicle that was linked to a stolen weapon in south suburban Lynwood, according to CWB Chicago via a police report.

Flemming pled guilty to armed robbery without a weapon for the carjacking incident; however, prosecutors dropped six felonies he was charged for the second incident. Flemming was sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Flemming was also ordered to serve two years in prison for the stolen motor vehicle cases, which he will serve consecutively with the other sentence.

According to CWB Chicago, Flemming will likely serve only seven years because he will receive credit for spending two years and 293 days in custody, along with a 50 percent sentence reduction for good behavior. He is set to be paroled in September 2026, six years and seven months after the carjacking.

Democrat-run Chicago experienced a major crime wave in 2022, as crime complaints increased by 40 percent, according to Chicago police. Moreover, motor vehicle theft rose by a whopping 102 percent, while theft increased by 56 percent.

At least 10 people have been arrested for looting Buffalo businesses left shuttered by a blizzard that hit the upstate New York city over Christmas, leaving 37 people dead and thousands without power.

Security footage shows looters smashing storefronts and leaving with televisions, computers, and other high-priced items. "These were not crimes of desperation, but crimes of opportunity to steal items from unoccupied stores during a blizzard," said Erie County district attorney John Flynn, who pledged to prosecute the looters "to the fullest extent of the law."

City officials on Tuesday announced the formation of an anti-looting detail to identify individuals who burglarized stores, WGRZ reported. At least four looters have been arraigned in court, according to the Buffalo Police Department.

Buffalo has accumulated over four feet of snow since Friday, in what New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D.) called "the most devastating storm in Buffalo's long storied history." President Joe Biden on Monday approved Hochul's request for an emergency declaration, a day before decamping to a St. Croix villa owned by a pair of wealthy donors.

Biden will ring in the New Year on the tropical island, where temperatures are expected to remain in the low 80s.

It seems like all I hear these days is how liberals are red-hot for teaching history, while retrograde troglodytes on the right are demanding that we suppress the teaching of history by banning critical race theory (CRT). Haranguing students, day in day out, about their white privilege is just teaching history.

On this beloved Kwanzaa week, here’s some history for you.

Celebrated exclusively by white liberals, Kwanzaa is a fake holiday invented in 1966 by black radical/FBI stooge Ron Karenga – aka Dr. Maulana Karenga, founder of United Slaves, the violent nationalist rival to the Black Panthers. Liberals have become so mesmerized by multicultural gibberish that they have forgotten the real history of Kwanzaa and Karenga’s United Slaves.

In what was ultimately a foolish gambit, during the madness of the ’60s, the FBI encouraged the most extreme black nationalist organizations in order to discredit and split the left. The more preposterous the group, the better. (It’s the same function Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez serves today.)

By that criterion, Karenga’s United Slaves was perfect.

Despite modern perceptions that blend all the black activists of the ’60s, the Black Panthers did not hate whites. Although some of their most high-profile leaders were drug dealers and murderers, they did not seek armed revolution.

No, those were the precepts of Karenga’s United Slaves. The United Slaves were proto-fascists, walking around in dashikis, gunning down Black Panthers, and adopting invented “African” names. (I will not be shooting any Black Panthers this week because I am Kwanzaa-reform, and we are not that observant.)

It’s as if David Duke invented a holiday called “Anglika,” which he based on the philosophy of “Mein Kampf” — and clueless public schoolteachers began celebrating the made-up, racist holiday.

In the category of the-gentleman-doth-protest-too-much, back in the ’70s, Karenga was quick to criticize Nigerian newspapers that claimed that certain American black radicals were CIA operatives.

Now we know the truth: The FBI fueled the bloody rivalry between the Panthers and United Slaves. In the annals of the American ’60s, Karenga was the Father Gapon, stooge of the czarist police. Whether Karenga was a willing FBI dupe or just a dupe remains unclear.

In one barbarous outburst, Karenga’s United Slaves shot two Black Panthers to death on the UCLA campus: Al “Bunchy” Carter and John Huggins. Karenga himself served time, a useful stepping-stone for his current position as the chair of the Africana Studies Department at California State University at Long Beach.

The left has forgotten the FBI’s tacit encouragement of this murderous black nationalist cult founded by the father of Kwanzaa. The esteemed Cal State professor’s invented holiday is a nutty blend of schmaltzy ’60s rhetoric, black racism, and Marxism. The seven principles of Kwanzaa are the very same seven principles of the Symbionese Liberation Army, another invention of The Worst Generation.

In 1974, Patty Hearst, kidnap victim-cum-SLA revolutionary, famously posed next to the banner of her alleged captors, a seven-headed cobra. Each snakehead stood for one of the SLA’s revolutionary principles: Umoja, Kujichagulia, Ujima, Ujamaa, Nia, Kuumba, and Imani. These are the exact same seven “principles” of Kwanzaa.

When Karenga was asked to distinguish Kawaida, the philosophy underlying Kwanzaa, from “classical Marxism,” he essentially said that, under Kawaida, we also hate whites. (And here’s something interesting: Kawaida, Kwanzaa, and Kuumba are also the only three Kardashian sisters not to have their own shows on the E! network.)

While taking the “best of early Chinese and Cuban socialism” (is that the mass murder or the seizure of private property?), Karenga said Kawaida practitioners believe one’s racial identity “determines life conditions, life chances, and self-understanding.”

There’s an inclusive philosophy for you!

Sing to “Jingle Bells”:

Kwanzaa bells, dashikis sell
Whitey has to pay;
Burning, shooting, oh what fun
On this made-up holiday!

Kwanzaa emerged not from Africa, but from the FBI’s COINTELPRO. It is a holiday celebrated exclusively by idiot white liberals. Black Americans celebrate Christmas.

I reported previously how Dean Eduardo Peñalver of Cornell's famous law school used an official Cornell University web page to condemn Legal Insurrection's William Jacobson for disparaging Black Lives Matter.  This page, which is still online as of December 27, 2022, says in part (emphasis is mine),

In light of this deep and rich tradition of walking the walk of racial justice, in no uncertain terms, recent blog posts of Professor William Jacobson, casting broad and categorical aspersions on the goals of those protesting for justice for Black Americans, do not reflect the values of Cornell Law School as I have articulated them. I found his recent posts to be both offensive and poorly reasoned.

I also reported how Hardin-Simmons University apparently forced out a student for posting a TikTok video that disparaged Black Lives Matter.  HSU is already facing declining enrollments due to other reasons, and, in light of the following discovery, its treatment of this student should be an absolute disqualifier in the absence of rapid corrective action by HSU (including, for example, a public apology to the student in question).  Less expensive public universities in Texas cannot discriminate against students for political views, and if students want education with a Baptist focus, there are plenty of Baptist churches and other organizations on or near the public universities in question.

I am also not sure why prospective law students should pay Cornell roughly $75,000 in annual tuition when SUNY Buffalo is closer to $25,000 a year for New York residents in the absence of corrective action by the university's administration or trustees.  This corrective action should, as I see it, consist of removal of the web page in question along with a public apology to Professor Jacobson.

Black Lives Matter Eulogized Fidel Castro and Praised Domestic Terrorists

I came across the following eulogy for the murderous Cuban dictator Fidel Castro while looking for more information on "Mama Assata," as BLM calls the convicted cop-killer and domestic terrorist Assata Shakur, AKA Joanne Chesimard.  This is straight from BLM Global Network itself and not from any of its detractors.

The first thing to note is the call for "revolution," which uses civil rights as a means rather than an objective.  This reinforces the position that the only real difference between BLM icon George Floyd and Nazi icon Horst Wessel is that Floyd was Black and Wessel was Caucasian.  Both were violent thugs; Floyd was convicted of a gun-armed robbery, and Wessel belonged to extremist paramilitary organizations.  Both were later killed unlawfully, Floyd by Derek Chauvin, who, with the benefit of hindsight, had a badge and a gun he should not have had, and Wessel by communists.

What follows is even worse than anything I and many others had previously imagined despite BLM's long track record of encouraging civil unrest, credibly alleged misuse of 501(c)(3) tax-exempt resources to influence the 2020 presidential election, anti-Semitic hate speech, and anti-Semitic denial of the right of Israel to exist.

As a Black network committed to transformation, we are particularly grateful to Fidel [Castro] for holding Mama Assata Shakur, who continues to inspire us. We are thankful that he provided a home for Brother Michael Finney Ralph Goodwin, and Charles Hill, asylum to Brother Huey P. Newton, and sanctuary for so many other Black revolutionaries who were being persecuted by the American government during the Black Power era.

The article ends with "Fidel Vive!" (Fidel Lives), so let's take a look at what BLM supports.

Thousands of Cubans have died in front of Castro's infamous "paredón" (the wall). There was no discrimination, as far as sending people to the firing squad was concerned. Young and old, black and white, rich and poor were sent to "el paredón."

Always Turn Over the Rock

I doubt that this is what either Hardin-Simmons University or Cornell's Law School supports, but this is why you should always turn over a rock to see what is crawling around underneath it.  I recall seeing an attractive home page for the Council of Conservative Citizens, which showed a middle-class Caucasian family and talked about "our way of life."  The website seemed to be about preserving the American way of life, which sounded fine to me.  Then I turned over the rock to discover that this organization is also called the White Citizens Council.  Rep. Bob Barr, Ted Cruz, and Rand Paul were taken in by it as well, but when they also turned over the rock, they distanced themselves from this organization very quickly.

We have so far turned over the BLM rock to find support for a murderous dictator and human rights–violator.  We know that "Mama Assata" is on the FBI's Most Wanted List for murdering a New Jersey state trooper.  Now let's look at "Brother Michael Finney Ralph Goodwin, and Charles Hill."

CNN's Patrick Oppmann reports that Charles Hill is an admitted hijacker, and it goes downhill from there.

All three men were members of the Republic of New Afrika, a black power militant group that sought to break off Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina into a separate nation for African-Americans. They were on the way from California to the South with a car loaded with weapons to support the cause.

One of them then killed a New Mexico State Police officer, and then all three carjacked a tow truck and stormed an airliner, where Hill held a knife to the throat of a flight attendant.  Finney then menaced the airplane's crew with a gun and told them he had already killed a man, which seems to be his admission to the murder of Rosenbloom.  That was how they ended up in Cuba to be welcomed by Fidel Castro.

BLM Supports Cop-Killers, Carjackers, Terrorists, and Hijackers; Do You Still Support BLM?

We have therefore seen, from BLM's own words and not those of its critics, that this organization supports cop-killers along with violent Black separatists, carjackers, and hijackers.  BLM also supports convicted terrorist Rasmea Odeh, who murdered two Jews with a bomb and tried to murder more with a second bomb, which, however, the Israelis disarmed in time.  Note by the way that Facebook's so-called Community Standards, which forbid glorification of dangerous individuals, do not seem to apply to Rasmea Odeh.

Cornell's Law School, Hardin-Simmons University, and also various corporations that have given money and/or public relations support to Black Lives Matter* now need to ask whether this is still something with which they wish to associate their names or, as Bob Barr, Ted Cruz, and Rand Paul did when they turned over the rock called the Council of Conservative Citizens, rescind that support publicly and unequivocally.  Noting that the Democrat party also put its support behind BLM in 2020, the Republicans need to make this a foremost talking point in 2024.

Police: NYC Career Criminal Arrested for Stabbing Spree that Left 2 Dead, Including Pediatrician

A career criminal was arrested Christmas Eve after he allegedly went on a stabbing spree that resulted in two people killed, including a pediatrician.

Roland Codrington, 35, was charged with two counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder, one count of second-degree assault, and one count of criminal mischief, according to the New York City Police Department (NYPD).

At an NYPD press conference Monday, officials explained that Codrington’s alleged crime spree began on December 19 when he fatally stabbed James Cunningham, 51, in the neck. The victim’s body was found at around 1:00 a.m. on Avenue A near East 13th Street.

Cunningham and Codrington were involved in a confrontation before the victim was killed, according to NYPD Chief of Detectives James Essig.

“There’s no prior interactions. They bump into each other. They have a 20-second, caught-on-camera dispute,” Essig told reporters at a Monday briefing. “Our perpetrator just takes out a knife and slashes across the neck, and then leaves.”

On December 22 at around 11:30 p.m., Codrington was involved in a second incident where he allegedly entered Teddy’s Bar, located at 2171 Second Avenue in East Harlem, with a pit bull and baseball bat.

“He proceeded to go behind the bar, where he assaulted the bartender and destroyed property. When two customers intervened, they were both stabbed with a large knife that the male was carrying,” Essig told reporters. All victims from the second incident suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was allegedly upset from a previous incident where he was kicked out of the same bar the week prior.

Following the events at the bar, Codrington took a walk to “cool off” in Harlem’s Marcus Garvey Park, where he then confronted pediatrician Dr. Bruce Maurice Henry, 60. The two had a verbal exchange before Codrington allegedly slashed the doctor in the throat, ultimately killing him.

Police found Henry’s body at around 2:15 a.m. on December 23.

Investigators connected the three incidents together and zeroed in on Codrington as the suspect.

Codrington was arrested on Christmas Eve after he was caught allegedly driving the stolen blue Mercedes of the slain doctor at Jerome Avenue and 166th Street in the Bronx. He was taken into custody without a struggle.

Police are now investigating whether Codrington may be connected to any other unprovoked stabbings in the city.

Codrington has an extensive criminal history, where he has been arrested 12 times since 2006. His most recent run-in with cops was a vehicle-related arrest in 2022, according to Essig. He also has several other arrests for assault with a weapon, knife possession, gun possession, assault, knife robbery, and knife assault.

Law enforcement sources told the New York Post Cordington might have as many as 20 arrests, with some of them being sealed.

Major crime in the Big Apple has increased by over 22 percent since last year, with felony assaults up by 12.6 percent, according to NYPD crime statistics. While murder is down, fatal stabbings have increased 37 percent this year, the Daily Mail reported.

NORCO, Calif. (AP) — An 80-year-old Southern California liquor store owner who opened fire with a shotgun and wounded a would-be armed robber this summer has died, the store reported Tuesday.

Craig Cope died Tuesday morning, and a memorial at Norco Market & Liquor will be held at a later date, according to a Facebook post. It didn’t mention a cause of death.

Cope was alone at the counter shortly before 3 a.m. on July 31 in Norco in Riverside County when a man in a ski mask came through the door, pointing a rifle and demanding: “Hands in the air! Hands in the air!” Surveillance video shows Cope firing one blast from the shotgun.

The gunman fled. Surveillance cameras outside the store caught him screaming “He shot my arm off, he shot my arm off!” as he got into a car and was driven away.

“I didn’t have time to be afraid" after the car with four robbers pulled into the parking lot, and some got out wearing masks and gloves and holding weapons, Cope told KTTV-TV.

One robber came through the door with what Cope said appeared to be a semiautomatic rifle.

“The guy pointed the gun directly at me. It was him or me," Cope told the station.

Four men were later arrested at a hospital where the wounded suspect was being treated. The getaway car had been stolen in Las Vegas and contained stolen weapons, authorities said.

Cope was commended by the Sheriff's Department. Video of the shooting made him a celebrity. People flocked to the store to photograph and congratulate him and to buy items, including a T-shirt with the slogan “Don’t Mess with Norco, We’ll shoot your arm off,” KABC-TV reported.

Cope had owned the store since 1976. After the shooting, he suffered a heart attack but recovered and returned to work before having a disabling stroke in October.

A left-wing bail reform organization discontinued its Las Vegas chapter after it was sued for helping bail out a repeat offender who shot a restaurant worker 11 times nearly a week later.

The Bail Project — which has celebrities Danny Glover, John Legend, and Richard Branson sitting on its advisory board — ceased its Sin City operations in early December and is currently restructuring, CBS affiliate KLAS reported, citing the organization.

The shuttering of the non-profit organization comes after it became the subject of a lawsuit after posting a $3,000 bond in December 2021 for serial criminal Rashawn Gaston-Anderson, who was suspected of burglary at the time.

Six days after being released, Gaston-Anderson shot restaurant worker Chengyan Wang 11 times at the Shanghai Plaza mall located in Las Vegas Chinatown.

Gaston-Anderson, 24, was sentenced earlier this month to seven to 18 years in prison after reaching a plea deal to be convicted on charges of attempted robbery and mayhem, both with deadly weapon enhancements, NBC affiliate KSNV reported.

Although Wang survived his injuries, he suffered seven gunshot wounds, including a punctured lung and stomach.

In September, Wang filed a lawsuit against The Bail Project, Gaston-Anderson, and Shanghai Plaza owner U.S. Hui De Real Estate Investment Corp. of Law Vegas.

Wang accuses The Bail Group of failing to consider Gaston-Anderson’s criminal history before they bonded him out, including his pending and past cases of “burglary of a business, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, two counts of grand larceny and attempted grand larceny,” according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

“They’re going around as a bailing agency bailing people out with no or little due diligence,” said Wang’s lawyer Kory Kaplan stated via the Review-Journal.

The lawsuit also accuses the group of never having registered as a bail agent under Nevada’s Division of Insurance, which is legally required by the state.

In addition to the allegations against the offender and non-profit organization, Wang accused Hui De Real Estate Investment Corp. of a lack of adequate security at the plaza when he was shot.

Wang is seeking $15,000 in damages, per the lawsuit.

The Bail Project has several chapters across the U.S. but no longer lists the Las Vegas chapter on its website and has seemingly taken down the chapter page.

The organization’s stated goal is to end cash bail. Furthermore, the group once claimed in a court filing that it has bailed out “22,000 low-income people as of December 2021, with more than 72,000 court dates and an appearance rate of 92 percent,” according to the Review-Journal.

This is not the first time The Bail Project has been criticized for helping free an accused felon who would then commit another crime.

In October 2021, Travis Lang allegedly shot and killed Dylan McGinnis after The Bail Project posted Lang’s $5,000 bail in January 2021.

Lang is accused of a number of offenses dating back to 2018 and was jailed in October 2020 for possession of cocaine, a Level 6 felony. He is believed to have continued selling drugs after he was released.

In a Breitbart News Saturday interview in January 2022, McGinnes’ mother, Nikki Sterling, slammed the organization for seemingly failing to do research on Lang’s background.

“They indicate that their mission is to fight incarceration by bailing out low-income individuals but many statements I’ve seen on television made by the organization … is that they don’t actually look at the offender’s criminal history before they bail them out of jail,” Sterling said.

What the black community must do if it wants to overcome.

Yes, I said it and I mean it wholeheartedly. Every Black History month Blacks sing “We Shall Overcome” but if the Black community in America continues to accept and foolishly advocate for a slave mentality, that is what they shall get. The progressive socialist left, aka the Democrat party, has been highly successful in perpetuating a victim mentality for the black community. And in many ways, it has been the policies of the white socialist elitists of the left that have decimated and destroyed the black community.

Over the centuries, it has been the Democrats who have brought forth the policies of secession, slavery, segregation, and socialism…the dreaded 4S’s of the leftist apocalypse. In every way, these ideologies have proven detrimental to the existence of the black community. It is very comical to me to hear Democrats talk about Jim Crow when that is the policy they created and implemented, along with poll taxes, literacy tests, and lynchings. It was the Senate Democrats who have the record for the longest filibuster in US Senate history, against the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which passed thanks to Senate Republicans led by Everett Dirksen.

The so-called Great Society programs of widely known racist Democrat president Lyndon Johnson proved not so great. It led to the destruction of the traditional nuclear black family and turned American inner city communities into new economic plantations. Today, the black community is plagued with high unemployment, rampant fatherlessness, the genocidal murdering of our unborn babies, substandard schools, and lagging small business entrepreneurship. The new civil rights issue of this current age is school choice, but leftists, led by the Randi Weingarten teacher’s unions stand against it.

And what is the remedy for the ramifications of the destructive leftist policies?

Let’s give Blacks reparations for that which we created, implemented, and continue to support. Do not forget that Little Black Wall Street in Tulsa Oklahoma was destroyed by white Democrats.

Reparations? Yes, reparations, the new slave wages, after all, the Democrats, and the new overseers on the new black economic plantation — the Congressional Black Caucus — must continue to perpetuate the slave mentality. And this ungodly cabal must promote victimization because the crop of this economic plantation is not cotton, it is the vote.

My ideological mentor is a Black man who was once a slave. When he learned that he was free, he did not ask for reparations. No, Booker T. Washington sought out that which breaks the chains of any bondage, that which had been denied him, an education. Washington did not ask for gold bullion, a check, cash, or anything. He wanted that which leads to the golden ring of equality of opportunity, and knowledge. And with his dedication to education, he was recognized, and given the seemingly incredible task of establishing the first school of higher education in the south, Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute.

Booker T. Washington had a three-point agenda, ideology — education, entrepreneurship, self-reliance, and truly classical liberal and conservative principles and values. A man who was born a slave hosted an American president at his school, and dined with another in the White House. He helped form the Negro Business League which spawned the first generation of black economic growth.

Washington’s autobiography “Up From Slavery” along with Shelby Steele’s “White Guilt”, and Jason Riley’s “Please Stop Helping Us” should be mandatory reading for any imbecile advancing the idea of reparations…and those harboring that despicable victim mentality.

I am a proud American Black man, and that pride comes from a family of uniformed servants to this Nation. My Dad served in a segregated Army but he still challenged me to be the first officer in our family. I was born in a blacks-only hospital in Atlanta Georgia, 61 years ago. I was raised to never be a victim, but a victor. I was raised to never see, or allow anyone else to see my color as an impediment to success and achievement. My Mom taught me that self-esteem comes from doing esteemable things — somebody giving you some money for nothing ain’t gonna build up your esteem. That is the socialist economic theory tenet of creating and expanding a welfare nanny state.

In many ways, this insidious idea of reparations is just a big grown-up participation trophy. A silly gesture that essentially is worthless.

Two years ago I wrote the book, “We Can Overcome, An American Black Conservative Manifesto”. If the black community wants to overcome, stop being played by these white socialists, like the ones who founded the NAACP. Stop allowing deranged whites like Margaret Sanger and her legacy of killing future generations of black babies before they are born.

And stop with this dumbass victim mentality and being told that we are still slaves. I am a slave to no man or woman. I am a damn American and my forefathers sacrificed so that I could one day write this missive to be read by countless of my Countrymen and women.

And if this upsets white progressive socialists and their radical black lackeys…well, Hooah!

2 Killed, 4 Wounded in Overnight Shooting in Democrat-Run New Orleans

Two people were killed and four others wounded during an overnight shooting in Democrat-run New Orleans.

WDSU notes that the shooting occurred “in the Lower Ninth Ward on St. Maurice Avenue.”

The two deceased individuals were a man and a woman, both of whom were 19 years old, FOX 8 Live reports.

Two 18-year-old men, a 17-year-old girl, and an 18-year-old woman were shot and wounded in the incident.

Police are working to discover a motive for the shooting and to put together information on a suspect.

They are urging any one with information on the shooting or possible shooter to contact the NOPD Homicide Division.

On December 15 Breitbart News observed that homicides had surged to nearly 250 so far in 2022 in Democrat-run New Orleans.

Chicago police are looking for a suspect after a 16-year-old was shot in the face on a train Sunday just after 2:00 a.m.

The boy was shot once in his ear and eye while riding the train near the Cermak-Chinatown station. He later told officers he heard multiple gunshots but that was the only information he was able to report, according to ABC 7.

“A witness provided a description of a possible suspect,” the outlet said. “Police found a male matching the suspect description and took him into custody and a handgun was recovered at the scene. However, hours later, that person was released without being charged, police said.”

The Chicago Police Department shared surveillance video Sunday of a suspect wearing a black coat and red hood. At one point in the clip, what appears to be a gun is seen in the individual’s hand:

The teenage victim was transported to a hospital in serious condition.

Police asked citizens with more information regarding the case to call Area One Detective Crespo #20747 at 312-747-8380.

Meanwhile, ten people were shot and three died Wednesday in Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s (D) Chicago. Breitbart News also noted at least 25 people were shot, six of them fatally, over the weekend in the city.

The outlet reported Saturday that a 14 year old boy and 15 year old boy were fatally shot Friday afternoon near a Chicago high school.

“Both deceased victims were shot in the head. The 15-year-old who was killed has been identified as Brandon Perez, while the name of the deceased 14-year-old has not been released,” the article stated.

As the crime wave plagues citizens in President Joe Biden’s (D) America, people are “more likely now than at any time over the past five decades to say there is more crime in their local area than there was a year ago,” Gallup reported in October.

“The 56% of U.S. adults who report an increase in crime where they live marks a five-percentage-point uptick since last year and is the highest by two points in Gallup’s trend dating back to 1972,” the article read.

Why reparations now?

The absurdity of the concept of reparations for slavery, an institution that ended several generations ago, is beyond mind-boggling.  But there’s a blatantly cynical reason for the sudden lurch in that direction: formerly reliable Black voters are now slipping away from the Democrats.  This also explains Biden’s recently expressed profuse generosity towards the nations of sub-Saharan Africa.

What is also painfully obvious is the lame, demagogic pandering that is the Democrats’ knee-jerk response, especially to a defecting constituency: just throw money at them and that’ll keep ‘em on the reservation.  Never mind the exposure to ridicule attached to redistributing money from people who never owned slaves to people who never were slaves, since the despicable practice was abolished over 150 years ago.  “Oh, the wealth and education gap that plagues the inner cities is the enduring legacy of slavery.”  Even if this were true, just throwing money at the problem is of particularly dubious benefit.

The dystopic nature of our inner cities cannot be traced back to slavery.  Modern-day political machines are the culprits.  Paying women to have fatherless children; running schools that avoid imparting basic math and literacy skills while lowering the standards for achievement; suppressing police responses to avoid bad optics and litigation… all add up to imposed squalor.  And none of this can be traced back to slavery or any of its aftereffects.

You may call it the “Trump Effect” or whatever -- “working-class” voters have been shifting to the Republican party.  This includes Black folks and other “minorities.”  Nowadays progressive Democrats are mostly appealing to trust-fund-baby treehuggers and other guilty, virtue-signaling middle-class liberals. This is what’s happening.  And Trump didn’t even start it.  Some years ago, Pat Caddell, political advisor to Bill Clinton, bemoaned his perception that the Democrat party had been taken over by an “elite gentry.”  Trump did, however, accelerate the process of blue-collar defection by allowing the economy to fiercely expand and thus embrace many of those stuck on its bottom rungs.

Another disquieting aspect of the reparations movement is its complete reliance on skin color.  Much like affirmative action, reparations promises to further institutionalize racism -- as did Jim Crow laws in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.  This despite the suppressed reality that not all slave owners were white.  Just ask Kamala Harris’s Jamaican father, who freely admitted that his Black ancestors owned Black slaves.  This was further corroborated by my late former neighbor.  Though having been a Tuskegee airman, he admitted that his Hattian ancestors owned slaves.  Ironically, one of the founders of modern environmentalism, John James Audubon, was also Hattian -- though of French descent.

It also so happens that not all slaves were black Africans.  Originally, the British colonists brought in Scots and Irish slaves to fill the labor deficit created by the vastness of America.  These were not indentured slaves who only needed to work off the cost of their passage to achieve their freedom.  They were true chattel: property that was bought and paid for.  However, these northern Europeans were way too susceptible to malaria and proved to not be of much economic value.  A further irony lies in the particular common genetic trait of tropical African natives that allows them to be significantly more resistant to malaria than Europeans -- it is also the cause of sickle cell anemia.

So, should Americans with Scottish and Irish surnames also be entitled to reparations for slavery?  Is there any limit to the absurdity to which craven political hacks will stoop to cling to the reins of power?  After all, they cooked up affirmative action ostensibly to nullify whatever lingering damage that was done by previous racism… but instead, they enshrined privilege based on pigmentation. 

To cap it all off, California has a reparations task force that is supposed to figure everything out by next July 1.  This includes eligibility, amount(s) of payment, etc.  The question of what actual fiscal impact such a splurge will have on a state with a rapidly evaporating tax base simply does not come up. That’s entirely within character for the nincompoops who run states like California.  The folks who are having the money thrown at them have no reason to complain and the folks whose money it used to be have little, if any, voice left to complain.  What a country!

Michigan: Armed Driver Fights Back, Shoots Carjacking Suspect

A driver with a concealed carry permit fought back in Eastpointe, Michigan, shooting an alleged carjacker who was attempting to take the driver’s Dodge Charger Hellcat.

FOX News reported the incident on December 18, 2022, noting that it occurred Tuesday of last week.

Twenty-seven-year-old Damon Lamar Currie allegedly tried to carjack the Hellcat but the armed driver refused to comply. A shootout followed and the Currie fled the scene in another stolen car after being shot in the leg.

Currie later arrived at a hospital to get his gunshot treated and was able to get out of the facility before police could arrive to apprehend him.

The Detroit News noted that police tracked the stolen car in which Currie had allegedly fled the carjacking scene and located it at “a residence in Clinton Township.” They surveilled the resident and Currie eventually exited, got into the stolen vehicle, and drove off.

A brief chase ensued then Currie was arrested without incident.

Outspoken actor and comedian Faizon Love believes the reparations money that California is planning on giving to black residents will ultimately be wasted, saying the cash will be used to buy flashy cars.

In an interview on YouTube’s Vlad TV, Faizon Love trashed the very idea of reparations.

“Fuck that. That’s another trick man — you know why? Because that money’s gonna go right back to Cadillac and right back to motherfucking [Mercedes] Benz,” he said.

Love said he believes that instead of reparations, black people should be tax exempt, noting that the federal income tax was created to fund the Civil War.

California has formed a committee to explore reparations for black residents, with a proposal to pay as much as $223,000 in reparations for each individual who qualifies as a descendant of African American slaves. The state has been considering reparations since 2020 under a law signed that year by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D).

But the exact dollar figure has become a subject of contention among politicians and activists.

Some activists are demanding California pay even more, with the number $350,000 per individual being suggested. One activist recently warned the state committee on reparations that there will be a “serious backlash” unless the state agrees to pay $800,000 to every eligible recipient.

Faizon Love’s joke about reparations echoes similar jokes made years ago by comedian Dave Chappelle, who once said reparations would result in the merger of Kentucky Fried Chicken and FUBU.

Love is known for his outspoken comments on controversial subjects. The actor has defended Bill Cosby and publicly smeared his accusers. In 2020, Love sued Universal Studios for cutting him and his fellow black co-star Kali Hawk out of international publicity posters for the 2009 movie Couples Retreat.

Looting for Amusement and Luxury Goods

Walnut Creek is a quiet exurban town outside of San Francisco. It uncharacteristically made national news over the last few days, and not for anything good. It was the scene of a large-scale smash and grab in the wake of the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict.

Over a dozen vehicles pulled up to the Broadway Plaza shopping mall. Some eighty vandals, some wielding crowbars, ran inside Nordstrom and stole merchandise.  Five Nordstrom employees were physically assaulted.

The action was said to be over in less than a minute. With their bounty in hand, estimated at $200,000, the thieves drove off in different directions. Only three were apprehended. Of those, one was illegally carrying a firearm.

And the same tactic and demographic makeup were seen at the Louis Vuitton smash and grab earlier in San Francisco.

The neighborhood blogs are filled with discussions. Liberals predictably claim this is because of the divide between the haves and have nots. Others have opined that it is part of the no justice, no peace result of the Rittenhouse verdict. And, of course, there was the inevitable search for root causes, which are always looked for and never really found, at least not empirically.

The cause few want to talk about is what happened at the same mall during the George Floyd riots, in June of 2020. Then our police and civic leaders decided to have the police stand in place. Macy’s was ransacked by hordes of young people who sometimes fought among themselves because some were perceived to have acquired better loot than others.

In the wake of the George Floyd case, our civic leaders, in their infinite wisdom, decided the optics of arresting young black people would not be good. It would be better to let them sate their appetite for theft. On the way out of the mall area, one vandal shot a firearm into a crowd of shoppers, hitting a young black woman in the arm. The police that were the object of the rioters’ derision were quickly giving her first aid and securing transport to the regional medical center.

So, it is not surprising that our mall was once again targeted. After all, during the first smash and grab at Macy’s, the thieves were not stopped. The police stood there like a bunch of robots whose batteries had gone dead. I doubt the rank and file desired this. This was a decision that most likely came from our cowardly civic leaders, who were more worried about optics than public safety.

New York policing has taught us the virtues of the concept of broken windows. Don’t fix the small things in a neighborhood and soon you have big things with which to deal. Start with the broken windows because societal neglect and crime are intertwined.  Show that minor infractions are not going to be tolerated. In New York, dealing with broken windows has put a big damper on crime.

Our civic leaders chose the opposite perspective. Let them run wild. Let them steal. Let them flee without obstruction, and they will simply go away. Of course, the civic leaders didn’t think that they had now provided an open invitation for thieves to return for another round.

We will shortly hear from academic pundits about black rage, a theory that is used to justify all sorts of anti-social and criminal behavior. Stealing Louis Vuitton luxury goods will be justified because of the legacy of slavery and discrimination. Only harebrained academics take such nonsense seriously.

An organized criminal enterprise is not the consequence of episodic rage, but of a purposeful undertaking. And before we get too hung up on the race of the perpetrators, we should consider that a lot of different kinds of people will be buying these luxury goods on social media, knowing they are stolen.

On the streets of San Francisco, a city where shoplifting under $950 is a misdemeanor, street vendors hawk stolen goods in original wrapping, sometimes just yards from the stores from which they were stolen. Walgreens is closing twenty-two stores in San Francisco, and communities are whining about a prescription desert, but not taking social action to prevent the ongoing plague of theft.

We have a criminal underclass in our society, one that festers and then finds excuses to explode. While my white suburban neighbors have had their societal equilibrium disturbed as a result of the violence and chaos at Nordstrom, inner-city minorities deal with these problems every day, and our criminal justice system ignores them.

We are becoming acclimated to violence. Gangs shooting at each other on Interstate 880 and killing a two-year-old is just another day in Oakland. On Route 4, near Oakley, there was gunfire from a housing development at passing vehicles headed west. Our public hospitals are overrun with shooting victims, usually as part of ongoing gang wars.

There is no leadership. But there is hypocrisy. The so-called congressional “Squad” calls for defunding the police but hires private security for its own protection. An open border brings in desperate people without relevant economic skills. How will they survive? The media find both justification and sanctification for the riots it deems politically appropriate: witness Minneapolis, Portland, and Seattle.  In so doing, the media provide legitimacy to thuggery.

The separation between the haves and the have nots is really a separation between the elites and the ordinary, hard-working citizens. The elites have joined with the underclass, but in the end, those who rule with an absence of the heart, as Alexis de Tocqueville noted, are to be vanquished in a single historical night. It will not come soon enough.

Racist Mayor: Jorge Elorza

Providence fixes racism with $346 checks for every black person.

During the long hot summer of Black Lives Matter race riots, Providence’s Mayor Jorge Elorza announced a truth and reparations commission, accusing the city and all of Rhode Island of perpetrating “generations of pain and violence and systemic oppression”.

The leftist racist, who has been steadily sending the city down the drain, urged the 33% of white people still left in Providence to “heal by discussing and accepting these uncomfortable truths”.

The commission would not be looking into Elorza’s alleged systemic racism which resulted in a lawsuit by the city’s former Department of Public Works director claiming that he was fired over a principled refusal to hire unqualified people “because of their ethnic backgrounds” while being banned from hiring “qualified applicants of a different ethnic background”.

These “uncomfortable truths” were not on the truth and reconciliation menu.

Instead, Elorza pushed forward with a plan to offer $10 million in reparations even though Rhode Island had actually been the first state to ban slavery and was founded by Roger Williams: an opponent of slavery. The tiny state had mobilized 25,236 soldiers in the Civil War including the 11th United States Colored Heavy Artillery Regiment. 1,771 Rhode Islanders paid the ultimate price and twenty were awarded the Medal of Honor.

That, not Eloriza’s $10 million grift, is what actually fighting racism looks like.

“These funds move us one step further towards closing the present-day racial wealth and equity gap,” Mayor Elorza falsely claimed.

With 28,834 black people living in Providence, that $10 million amounts to a $346 check for every black person. That’s enough to cover a week of groceries for a family of four.

Meanwhile, only “14 percent of Providence students are proficient in English and 6.8 percent are proficient in math.” The good news is that Providence students are so illiterate that they don’t even realize that Rhode Island wasn’t a member of the Confederacy.

And they know so little of basic mathematics that they have no idea how much $346 is.

Elorza’s racist virtue signaling doesn’t close any gaps. And it’s now under fire because it’s insufficiently racist since poor white people can also apply. That’s because the racist mayor chose to use cash from Biden’s inflationary $1.9 trillion stimulus plan which can’t exclude non-black applicants. Like the mayor himself, his reparations have failed in every possible way.

“You can’t just throw around $10 million for this-and-that program and call it reparations, because then it will be done without ever really having a conversation about what repairing the harm would look like,” a member of Elorza’s African American Ambassador Group complained.

Elorza’s racist crusade has thus far toppled a Columbus statue, and eliminated “plantations” from the city’s historic name in time for Juneteenth: even though the name had nothing to do with slavery. But expecting a city of illiterates to know that may be asking too much.

Meanwhile, Providence still has a 23% poverty rate: more than double than the state average.

The 92% of minority students in the Providence School District, most of them Hispanic, have reading proficiency scores that are half that of the state average and math scores that are almost a third that of the state average.

Homicides rose for three straight years: hitting a high that hadn’t been seen in a decade.

In 2021, 75 people were shot and 23 were killed in Providence. More than half of the entire state’s murders in 2020 took place in Providence even though the city holds only a fifth of Rhode Island’s population.

Asked to explain this phenomenon, Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha pointed out that, “If you shoot 22 rounds into the air, the odds of hitting someone go dramatically up, which in part leads to more outcomes resulting in death.” This is as undeniably true as it is irrelevant.

More relevantly, pro-crime policies, like those championed by Mayor Jorge Elorza, such as the Providence Community-Police Relations Act, have worsened crime in the area. To paraphrase the attorney general fired by the Trump administration, If you keep pandering to criminals, the odds of them committing crimes go up which leads to more outcomes resulting in death.

Mayor Jorge Elorza and his allies keep blaming racism for Providence’s miserable state, but Democrats have run Providence for 86 of the last 100 years.

If there’s any systemic racism, it was their system. And it’s so now more than ever.

Elorza has been running Providence into the ground for the last 7 years. Whose fault is all the misery? Taking down a Columbus statue or requesting a report about events 400 years in the past is a convenient cover-up for who’s actually in office now. And it ain’t Christopher Columbus.

Providence has a Democrat mayor and an all-Democrat council.

In 2019, former Providence City Council President Lou Aponte, one of the most enduring politicians on that body, pleaded guilty to felony embezzlement. In 2018, Majority Leader Kevin Jackson was sentenced to a year in prison for stealing over $100,000 from a youth charity.

What Providence really needs isn’t a truth and reconciliation commission, but a commission to stamp out the corruption and organized crime that the state and city have become infamous for.

Behind all the racist virtue signaling are uncomfortable truths about crime and demographics.

A Matter of Truth, the truth and reconciliation report commissioned by the mayor, blames racism for black people getting COVID and quotes BLM co-founder Alicia Garza boasting that “black communities have the power not just to save the country, but to lead the country.”

Not so much in Providence, Rhode Island, where Latinos have long since become the dominant minority group. Mayor Jorge Elorza is the son of Guatemalan immigrants. Of the 15 city council members, all Democrats, 6 are Latino, some of African heritage, but only one is black American.

And behind the virtue signaling and wokeness are some ugly realities, Councilwoman Carmen Castillo, the Dominican immigrant who became the subject of a documentary for going from hotel cleaning lady to the city council, was charged in a hit and run crash. While Castillo might have faced a 6-month prison sentence and a ban on running for public office, instead she got a slap on the wrist with no prison time and a $3,500 payout to the victim.

Asking about that would be racist. Obviously.

Castillo defeated NAACP president Gerard Catala who faces an investigation over campaign finance violations including depositing a political contribution to his personal bank account.

But that’s just Providence politics which brings together corrupt Democrats of all races and creeds to screw over the illiterates who can’t read or add, but keep voting for them.

Even after they’re dead.

Providence’s Latino political elites keep pushing the ‘white guilt’ button while using black people as human shields. Most of the city’s minority population isn’t black and sleazy racists like Elorza are using false accusations of racism to seize power and distract attention from their abuses.

America isn’t racist, but Providence’s political elites are as corrupt as they are racist.
