The United States, through mass illegal and legal immigration, is importing generations of poverty as the children of immigrants now account for 4-in-9 of all poor children living in the nation, the New York Times reveals.

In a report detailing vast poverty rates among the children of illegal and legal immigrants, the Times notes that “more than 40 percent of the country’s poor children are children of immigrants.”

Roughly 50 percent of those impoverished migrant youth are “anchor babies,” the term given to the U.S.-born children of illegal aliens as they are awarded birthright American citizenship despite their parents residing illegally in the nation.

The data suggests that anchor babies account for 2-in-10 poor children in the U.S.

“The solution is to stop importing poverty,” the Heritage Foundation’s Robert Rector told the Times, advocating for an overall reduction to legal immigration levels in addition to drastically cutting illegal immigration.

The Times reports

Children of immigrants, the fastest-growing group of American youths, have poverty rates more than twice those of other children. That is partly because their families earn less than native workers, but also because they face more barriers to government support. The barriers are largest for children of undocumented immigrants, but families of legal immigrants face obstacles, too. [Emphasis added]

“The more welfare that immigrants use, the more difficult it becomes to afford anti-poverty initiatives for the native-born,” said Steven A. Camarota of the Center for Immigration Studies, a group that seeks to sharply reduce immigration. [Emphasis added]

Fully 44 percent of poor children have an immigrant parent, according to research by Ms. Acevedo-Garcia, the Urban Institute, and UnidosUS, a Latino advocacy group. Nearly a fifth of poor children have an undocumented parent. [Emphasis added]

Camarota’s research for the Center for Immigration Studies has routinely found widespread taxpayer-funded welfare use among illegal and legal immigrants.

In 2019, for example, Camarota found that immigrant-headed households use nearly twice as much welfare as households headed by native-born Americans. Whereas 63 percent of households headed by immigrants, both illegal and legal, use some form of public welfare, just 35 percent of native-born households used welfare.

Likewise, in 2021, Camarota again discovered that the majority of immigrant-headed households were using some form of welfare at much higher rates than native-born Americans. While 31 percent of immigrant-headed households are on food stamps, for instance, fewer than 20 percent of native-born households use the program.

Though economist George Borjas has called the U.S. immigration system “the largest anti-poverty program in the world” at the expense of America’s working and middle class, President Joe Biden’s administration has lowered standards to ensure welfare-dependent foreign nationals can secure green cards.

In 2022, the foreign-born population hit nearly 47 million — the largest immigrant population ever recorded by the Census Bureau. Further research shows that the nation’s overall immigration levels are driving 80 percent of all population growth.

Since 1970, the nation’s foreign-born population has quintupled and since 1980, it has tripled in size. In 1990, the foreign-born population was just half of what it is today — with 1-in-7 U.S. residents having been born outside of the country.

The majority of new arrivals come through the nation’s legal immigration system, which gives out about a million green cards annually as well as more than a million temporary work visas to take blue-collar jobs that would otherwise go to working and lower-middle class Americans.

At current legal immigration levels, the Census Bureau projects that about 1-in-6 U.S. residents will be foreign-born by 2060, with the foreign-born population hitting a record 69 million.

Josh Hawley: Biden’s ‘Concierge Service’ for Illegal Aliens Comes at Expense of Americans’ Jobs, Wages

President Joe Biden’s “concierge service” for illegal aliens comes at the expense of Americans’ jobs and wages, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) said this week.

In a letter to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Hawley blasted the administration’s migrant mobile app — known as CBP One — that has released more than 30,000 foreign nationals into the United States since early January by allowing them to schedule appointments at the southern border.

Specifically, the migrant mobile app allows foreign nationals who are pregnant, mentally ill, elderly, disabled, homeless, or crime victims living in Mexico to schedule appointments at the border for release into the U.S. interior.

Hawley writes that the migrant mobile app is in effect “like making a restaurant reservation” and will have dire effects on Americans’ jobs and wages:

Under your leadership, the Department is marketing a new phone app, called CBP One, that allows unauthorized migrants to reserve a time to cross the border, like making a restaurant reservation. How convenient. I gather the app is meant to expedite asylum claims, or so your Department’s promotional material says. But I noticed you said nothing about asylum when I asked you at the hearing. And the Texas Monthly has recently reported that “[a]t no point does the app ask users ‘Are you seeking asylum?’” Worse, when migrants show up at the border to enter the country, they “are given no interviews and asked no questions about vulnerabilities they listed in the app or about why they’re seeking asylum in the U.S.—they’re simply released into the country on official parole.” [Emphasis added]

I imagine there are plenty of Americans who would appreciate this level of service from their government. Your choice to spend untold sums of taxpayer money—you said you had no idea what it cost—on concierge service for illegals is baffling. It is also revealing. It demonstrates your priorities: open borders, no matter the cost to Americans; no matter the jobs lost, the wages lost, the drugs flooding our schools. [Emphasis added]

Hawley calls the migrant mobile app “a full-on institutionalization of an open border and the abuse” of U.S. asylum laws, pressing Mayorkas to disclose how many foreign nationals have used the app since its inception, how many are expected to use the app after border controls end in May, and if the app will be updated to ask applicants if they have legitimate asylum claims.

The tech companies involved in the migrant mobile app’s creation, Hawley writes, should also be disclosed to the public and Congress along with the taxpayer costs associated with the app.

Biden’s expansive Catch and Release network at the border is pumping hundreds of thousands of foreign workers, often illegal, into working- and middle-class American jobs. At the same time, fewer Americans are working.

As Breitbart News reported, at the end of 2022, there were nearly two million fewer native-born Americans working compared to the same time in 2019, while two million foreign-born workers have been added to the workforce compared to the same time period.

In particular, the decline in the labor participation rate among working-class native-born Americans has dropped to 70.3 percent at the end of last year compared to 71.4 percent in 2019, 74.8 percent in 2006, and 76.4 percent in 2000.

Working-class native-born American men, those without a bachelor’s degree between 25 to 54 years old, had only an 83.7 percent labor participation rate at the end of 2022 — declining consistently since the year 2000.

The Biden administration has largely ignored efforts to get native-born Americans back into the workforce, instead adding millions of foreign workers to the labor market which adds downward pressure, particularly for working-class Americans in terms of finding jobs and securing higher wages.

I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party that is now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue and stoke anti-white racism, actively work to undermine our God-given freedoms, are hostile to people of faith and spirituality, demonize the police and protect criminals at the expense of law-abiding Americans, believe in open borders, weaponize the national security state to go after political opponents, and above all, dragging us ever closer to nuclear war.                                               TULSI GABBARD

Sometimes they are family members or love interests of top leaders. Other times they killed their way to the top. This is the case for the currently jailed Melissa “La China” Calderon Ojeda — former leader of a Sinaloa Cartel hit squad. Despite the changing world of drug cartels, what stays constant is the rise of new drug queens who for a short time fill the vacant spot left by their predecessors.

Man Kidnapped in Texas Home, Taken to Mexico by Cartel Gunmen, Remains Missing

The fate of a Texas man remains unknown after a team of cartel gunmen took him out of a house in Laredo, Texas, and crossed him into the Mexican border city of Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas. The victim reportedly bragged about stealing $50,000 from the Cartel Del Noreste faction of Los Zetas.

The kidnapping took place on March 24 shortly after midnight when a team of three hooded gunmen stormed a house in the 3400 block of Queretaro Street in Laredo. According to court documents filed in federal court, the gunmen took a victim named of Erick Tadeo Ramirez at gunpoint and placed him inside a blue four-door Dodge Ram pickup. The gunmen drove straight to one of the international ports of entry and ran through the barriers and forced their way into Mexico. The victim tried to climb out of the truck but federal authorities at the bridge were unable to do anything to stop the gunmen from taking him into Mexico.

Hours later, the victim’s sister and girlfriend called the police to report him missing. The next day, the FBI went to the house where the kidnapping took place and spoke with two witnesses who confirmed the kidnapping. The witnesses claimed to have heard the victim arguing with a woman on the phone over him stealing $50,000 from the Cartel Del Noreste faction of Los Zetas. The victim claimed that he wasn’t afraid because he was in Texas. Less than two hours later, the gunmen stormed the house.

Authorities identified Jonathan Cavriales as one of the alleged kidnappers through the vehicle that the gunmen used to cross the victim into Mexico. On March 27, Cavriales tried to cross back into Texas but federal authorities arrested him. During an interview, he reportedly said he drove the vehicle and with three other gunmen kidnapped Ramirez. Court documents say the man reported he “was aware that the victim had stolen approximately $50,000 from Cartel Del Noreste.”

Earlier this week, Cavriales went before U.S. Magistrate Judge Diana Song Quiroga who denied him bond on the charge of kidnapping.

The victim has not been found and the other suspected gunmen remain at large.
